the problem is that a lot of players that only play one side think that they are the victim.
-
Well, so its ok he might have camped and tunneled to achive this 3k? Because i often hear survivors complain about that, and you have no information how they died.
-
I am a jumpscare killer. I like it to scare the players. My favorite is the hag. I played a whole series with her "cant-teleport"-addons.
I boobytraped all the pallets, and when the survivor run at them there was the second hag that didn´t let them pass. With some, you could nearly see their panik ^^.
I also like Wraith and mayers, because they can just stand behind you before you notice them. I like that a lot more than just "you hear the terror radius, and warm up (mentaly) for a sprint with the killer.
-
My idea is to let them be as they are, and begin to thread the game as, well, a game, instead of worrying about outcames that only happens once in a while.
-
What exactly is this bug then? What does it do, and why does it happen?

This is what killer mains don’t realize when they cry about how underpowered killers are.
You play solo and you get these builds. Iri heads, instasaw, top tier killers with noed and ebonys. All against solo survivors with no items. No skill required its just an instant win for the killer as soon as the game began if an ebony is involved.
If they saved these builds for a fully kitted out swf it wouldnt be as bad but they dont. Killers happily skip swf lobbies and use their broken builds against non-threatening teams.
On top of that they’ll still camp and tunnel with these builds.
What survivor mains dont understand is how rare it is for a killer to have a lobby of solo survivors with no items. Most lobbys invole at least a 2-player swf, not uncommon for more, and survivors without items are very rare nowadays. And i see that as surivor and killer a lot more as i see those strong killer builds.
-
But being able to toggle between swf would help a lot. Because swfs could still look for a killer and do a custom game. But they can only have that as long as they dont insult and haress a killer after game. So i still dont see the problem with it.
This forum could be used to find players for that.

If were talking since release then nurse, legion, spirit reworks are all new changes (you skipped the doc rework), so it absolutely falls within the timeline I mentioned, so Im not sure what you think I'm ignoring. Also its around this time that we got hatch close which benefitted killers and EGC which was a HUGE carry for killers. Things like bloodlust and entity blockers were added YEARS ago that benefit killers and fundamentally changed the game. So if anything your points about survivors as skins and individual changes to killers is a net gain for killers overall.
But your statement is disingenuous because your assuming that all 3 reworks you mentioned ARE nerfs. Legion is doing as good as, if not better prior to its rework and spirit change wasn't even a blip on the radar, spirit kill rate was higher than any other killer based off the last round of stats. The only killer whose significantly down is nurse, who was fundamentally broken at release because she can hard countered everything a survivor can use to survivor. Her only limit was people's potential. Honestly the argument is so old, that this was back during the time of 72hrs (streamer) who was the last great survivor in this game. My issue with nurse was ######### it took so long.
The pendulum is already too far, killers are around 70% kills, as I said. That's not inline with the devs metric I mentioned.
Finally you saying that survivor nerfs were justified, doesn't really do anything based of what the OP said and what the point of my post was.
If you wanted a more concise summary it would be that the devs have mismanaged their community by hitting survivors with nerf after nerf and creating this expectation for killers that they've now been unable to deal with because its changed. Just look at Tru3 (streamer) who despite getting 4k after 4k, still finds the time to whine about how oppressed killers are.
But legion and spirit still got nerfed, unless you think a nerf is only a nerf that destoys the nerfed object, but then neither exhaustion nor ds were nerfed.
Also, can you show me those statistics plz? killer at 70% killrate implys thats the average, but the only statistics i know 70% were the top, not the avarage, wich only 2 killers could reach, while every one else was behind that, too under 50% as nurse.
But maybe i dont know the recent statistics, so link it to me plz.
Thanks for clarifying what you mean by recent. And i have to say, i dont know about nerfs before 2018, because thats when i started playing the game.

I would only consider the ruin nerf and nurse nerf as significant as the survivors recieved over the years. Spirit nerf was barely a nerf and the first legion rework was 100% necessary.
Almost every killer nerf was justified as well. Nurse was extremely broken with addons, spirit's nerf was deserved, I'd say the ruin nerf should have been done after the map reworks but those are happening now as well.
I can't think of any big nerfs killers had before the nurse nerf except the mori nerf and they are still quite overpowered.
Oh the killer nerf were justified, too, if i didnt make that clear. But i think the removal of god loops is justified, too, as well as the size adjustment of maps.
But the poster i responeded to upright denied any killer nerfs had happend, justified or not, except the recent ones, which seems to mean the ruin nerf. And thats what i responed to.
The problem with player mains is often a problem of objectivity. I know it from lots of other games. If i won against the killer, its because of my superior skill. If the killer won, its because of his scummy tactics or op addons and perks.
But the biggest problem in the game will not be fixed by this: The bad matchmaking. As long as people of very different skillranges get matched against each other, balance can never be achived. Thats why matchmaking would be my personal priority, and if that is fixed, then we can analyze whats op or not way better.
Edit: There are additional problems with balance: The obvious one is of course swf/solo survivors. The other ones are killer addons. which addons do you balance around? Only the base power? Or are addons needed to be equal, and if so, which ones?

It's been happening much longer than a year ago. But it's more like grains of sand, its just gotten worse and worse over time.
Since release, killer has been buffed, survivor nerfed. This is important to understand and through examples you’ll see why that has happened. It shows you why the game has had the trajectory it has and why we are now in our current quagmire with entitled killers.
It all started with the introduction of swf and the 2 escapes, 2 kills devs unit of metric. You don’t have to like the metric but it’s whats given the survivors all their nerfs and all the killers current buffs.
The devs failed to understand that people would want to play with friends in an online game (serious), what we got was ‘lobby wars’. Where survivors would join different lobbies looking for their friends and leave if they couldn’t find them. It was horrible trying to find games. Hence why we got swf, that completely unbalanced the game by creating coordinated survivors that could communicate. The devs have been nerfing survivor ever since and completely crippled solo survivor play.
Since release; infinites gone, vaulting/perk/map/pallet nerfs, bloodlust added, end game timer added, hatch close added. All this has made being killer easier and survivor harder since release.
You look at the SB vs. NOED debates that happend at release all those years ago. SB now is mediocre at best where as NOED is still a high tier perk.
Killers now are up around 70% kills due to the trajectory of the game and the devs metric system, unless you feel their metric system is bad, in which case they can undo all the changes I've just mentioned....
It's only been recently that killers have started getting push back from devs because the state of the game is disconnecting survivors who know a game is going to end in a 4k so why bother for 3k BP.
And what do we see? Thread after thread recently of killers whining. In short, killers haven't had to deal with any significant nerfs, till recently. Hence why its so noticeable, they've just never had to deal with it before.
People talk about salty survivors alot in this forum but ignore the elephant in the room.
I assume with recently you mean the ruin nerf? So you dont consider the Nurse or Legion or spirit rework nerfs?
While it is true that survivors had a lot of nerfs, most of them i consider justified. Instaheals, DS, exhaustion, meddle of man, yeah i think they were op.
The thing is that surivors are mainly skins, and if you nerf survivors by nerfing perks or other mechanics, you are nerfing all of them. That was done with ruin nerf to killers, too, but most other nerfs on killers were on specific killers and didnt affect the rest.
This ignoring of the specific killer nerfs is the thing that makes your post seems very biased, because you just ignore them.
I still think survivors are in a good place. If the upcoming changes swing the pendulum too far in the other direction, there will be a next wave of corrections. But that said, i play both sides, but mainly survivor (60-70% of games, mostly solo), so every change to whatever side affects me anyway, both good and bad. Maybe thats why i am more relaxed than people that play only one side.
I can just tell every one to play both sides, a) to learn the limitations of the other side, and i think its widen your viewpoint.
-
Why though? That would most likly hand the game to the killer for not finding surivors.
Sure, such an action is just scummy, but i would like it better if the killer could just open the exit gate anytime he wants, not just when all gens are done.
Yes, its a statement of defeat, but it would also prevent the killer from being struck in a game he doesnt want to, because he cant hooksuicide or just bleed out.
-
I use moris as killers same as keys as survivors, because so many people are crying for a nerf of these. Better to use them up now as long as they still do something good for you.
-
@ChiTenshi said:
Ebony Mori is the only issue, it needs a bigger requirement or a limitation. Being able to cut the Killer’s objective by a third is absurd and heavily encourages tunnelling.
I dont think so. Ebony doesnt do that much more than ivory. If the ivory mori is used early, the game turned into a 3v1 and is almost over anyway.
Killing the other survivors doesnt change that much about it, honestly.
Thus said, i dont think moris need to be changed, and if they were, then in a way they are still usefull and worth taking.
-
Well, you can play killer for a change. You can show all other killers how its done. You dont have to use offerings you dont like, you dont have to use perks you dont like. See how you like it. If you dont like it, dont ask other players to like it so you have the game catered for you.
-
It htis were a competetive game, you would be right. but its not.
-
I think the difference between ivory and ebony moris is not that great. If the killer kills a survivor 2 minutes into the game with only one gen done, the game is most likely over (at least in most solo lobbys), so killing other ones doesnt really matter that much.
Still i think moris are just as ok as keys. This game is not esports, just accept that from time to time broken stuff happens. I never encountered it on a regular basis.Survivors dying on the first hook break the game way more.

It’s not bait. Go look at killer stats and how often red rank killers win. It’s 75% of their games.

Well, since you think balance is magic, i dont think i have anything more to say.

lol
Killer is easier to play now then at any point after release.
Take a DBD history lesson, give it a try, and you might learn.
Well, thats true, but has nothing to do with my post. That killer is easier now dosnt mean its balanced. Beside, survivor is still a lot easier than killer, and less stessfull.
-
well, or maybe you are lucky. without plunderers, i get a dull or skeleton key way less than 10% of the time. I mean thats one every 3-4 games. Even with plunderers, i only get one every 2-3 games, without it, i hardly ever got one.
-
Well, i think that is a bad comparision, because killer usually cant find addons or offerings during the game, while chests are an implemented device.
How if there were no keys to be found, hooks dont repair themself anymore when they are sabotaged? because the survivors did all that work, and its unfair the killer gets them because they just repair themself.
We had that, and it got changed for a reason. But the same argument the op brings for keys (the work he done nullified) would work for that too.
-
The things is, more killer become viable because the - well, the quality of survivors is sinking, in my opinion. the amont of games where i do the majority of gens while the rest spends time in chases and running behind the killer with flashlights, or just 1 hidding near the hooked survivor while the other survivor runs the killer around said hook is surprisingly high.
And while its ok if it happens with green rank survivors, its soo often red rank survivors nowadays.
-
@SurviveByDaylight said:
i think certain killers need a nerf.
I dont think so. So, who is right now?
And i say this as a survivor main, because my escape rate is actually around 70-75%, and thats as a solo survivor, but still, its way higher than the average surviving rate.

I dont know why wont you rather be rewarded for improving your skill level as a killer you clearly not good(yes i have watched your streams). If you suck at killer doesnt mean others do.
While that is true, you might be an execptional good killer player. But maybe the game should not be balanced around the top players, especially with that broken matchmaking. But since you ask what needs to be done, can you give me the link to the vids for those 100 matches? You know, your word alone is no proof.
-
Well, the point is that survivor is far easier than killer. Killer really have issues with the balance, thats why you see those posts about killers and not survivors. And yes, they come from people who experience both sides. Give it a try, and you might learn.
-
I think the key escape through random key is surly rare, and yes, thats why its fair.
it is a casual game, so i actually like such turns. Yes, i was suprised too when 2 out of 3 survivors escape through the hatch after i 3gened them. The 3rd stood around as the second survivor used the hatch and i closed it. Bad luck for him. But the game ended then, and you could just go on to the next.
However, with plunderers instinct, it becomes quite common. As a solo survivor, i run it permanently at the moment, together with left alone. Just because in half my matches someone either dc´s or suicieds on the first hook. Then that match is basicly over, but the chance to get a key and still escape keeps the excitement. Otherwise, i might just rush to the killer myself to throw the game and go to the next one.
-
I could answer that, but i answered that question yesterday, and i think the day before that. Still broken, they say they fix it, but if they really will, noone knows.
-
it happens. I think i stole some keys when i started playing the game. i didnt even know what they are for, just that someone was giving one to me...
But i would never put down my key. i think a few games ago, someone wanted to trick me into putting it down, because she kept puting items in front of me, like a toolbox when i was doing a gen.
Otherwise, i try to rescue all survivor. Yesterday, one was dead, one generator left, i had found a key and the hatch. One was hooked quite near it, the killer was on the other side of the map, and the third survivor came to unhook. I gesture them both to follow me several times, and they just run away. When the killer came, i took the hatch. One of them managed to come too, because she run into my direction when the killer came back to the hook, the last one died because we were gone. I will gesture you, and its your decision. But i wont put down my key.
-
There are lots of threads about it, but ito put it simple: they nerfed killers so much a lot of high-ranking killers dont play killer anymore. So in order for high-ranking survivors to get a match, they are paired against low ranking killers.
Thats do to a mechanic to shorten lobby times. Usually, you search in a certain rank range. But if you dont find a match within it, your rank range is extended, and then extended again. For Red rank swfs that means they wait till they get a killer in red ranks (within 6 ranks i belive, so if the highest survivor is rank 2, its to rank 8), and if none is found they extend to rank 10 or 12 for killers, and then take the first one availible. That might be a red rank killer who just joined, but is more likly a low rank killer.
Its a known issue and they say they fix it in a secret way with no information provided to an undiscloed time somewhen in the futere.
-
Well, some people heal against instadowns because they dont run iron will. Thus, the killer can easily here you if you come to a hook he is proxycamping, and then he will down you. If you are healed up, he doesnt hear you as easily, and the odds for you getting a lot better.
Also, in games i played as a solo survivor (which ist the majority of the time) i had people refusing to heal me. Why? Because we were both doing a gen, and when the killer came, he went for the injured one.
-
But still, if you dont know its an SWF, you can bring perks like hex:the third seal or knockout that are useless against swf.
Some solution should be found here.
-
@oxygen said:
A lot of the self care hate is because of how some people use it. You know, the stereotypical "Blendette that runs to an obscure corner and self cares even if the last gen is at 90% and she got hit and left right next to it" situations. As well as people that run away from a potential quick double heal to self care in a corner.
The perk itself is fine, it's a tool like any other that you don't have to use whenever you can, and it's also synergizes very well with botany knowledge and even rather modest medkits like a yellow medkit + bandages.
Self care will always be popular because on-demand healing no matter what is an attractive ability, as it takes time and experience to feel comfortable doing pretty much anything while injured.
How do i, as a injured survivor, signal the two random players that i want to heal only to 99% so i can still use my resilience?
If you can tell me how i consistantly can do that, and they still heal me up the last % if the killer is there (and thus they likly take a hit for me) i stop running self care. Deal?
-
With the new patch, the survivor/killer ratio might change, because some of the problems killer face are adressed with it.
-
They will tell you the problem is known, and a change is coming. And while that may be true, i dont think it is a priority. Because the system now covers up the lower killer base at the moment. Few red rank killers, thats why you and i have to fill the gap.
So at the moment using the inbalance keeps the game running, and with the patch hopefully some killers return. Then, maybe, they change the system by hidding the rank and using secret algorithms, probably to do the same as now. But we wont know for sure and thus wont be able to complain.
But maybe they have an idea how to change matchmaking for fair matches. We will see, it will just take an undisclosed amount of waiting time.

This is your 2nd or 3rd post complaining about Mori’s. Do you have any ideas for actual alternatives for them?
Yes, easy escapes. Oh, you meant for the killer to compensate? Nah, killer is "easy mode".

@ClickyClicky said:
No. Survivors had to lose all their BS add ons, instaheals were too much and toolboxes have been nerfed beyond useless. Theres nothing “cool” to take as survivor anymore other than a key.
However of course killers get to keep their best add ons. The rules that apply to survivor dont apply to killer, they can bring BS add ons all they want.
Know why? Because devs prioritise killer fun.
You are right that killers dont lose their best addons. they just get reworked if the killer is nerfed. Sure, Legion and Nurse still have their strong addons, they just do something completly different. Just like the survivor ones.
If you really think that devs prioritize killers, then you are either that far biased that you cant even see the reality, or you are just ignorant to push an agenda. Ok, there is a third option, but i rather think its one of the first two.
-
I think it might be a problem with the us servers. In Europe, or at least to me and my friends, dedicated servers were a big improvement.
-
I think the 16-second-heal should keep working if you are downed, and still heal you if the killer slugs. If he picks you up, fine, but if he leaves you on the groudn the heal should just go through.
-
What instadown do demigorgon, legion, doctor, trapper, hag, spirit and others have if they are camping anyway? myc doesnt work then, devour works never under that circumstances, and a killer has no way to force them to break haunting grounds if he camps. So what exactly are you talking about?
-
Maybe so new killers have a good option, since matchmaking sends them vs red ranks even at rank 20.
To me as a survivor, i have no problem with him. But in my opinion, a lot of survivors overly relay on looping, and he cant be looped easily.
A lot of player should shift their playstyle to avoid being found instead of just running in circles for 5 minutes.
-
In my opinion, Wifi is a) too unreliable, b) too unsecure, and c) a friend of mine is a biologist who researches the effects of wifi and cell phone connections on the human body. And she told me some weeks ago, that she woulndt have wifi in a house with small children with a developing brain. And mine are 5 and one year old. (Although she said those results are in no way confirmed and some studys come to a different result. But why take the risk if i dont like wifi anyway.)
-
Since the genrush coulnt get any worse, there is no problem in that respect.
However, with potential shorter chases, camping becomes more unattracitve for killers.
I know i camp as a killer vs survivors i am lucky to catch once. If i know i can catch them again, i dont have to camp.
-
Still not fixed, and now we know not to expect it at midchapter. So how long will it take?
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Can I spawn with a Key if the Killer brings a Mori? When nobody brings any items?
(even tho it would still not be a "fair trade" at this point, because Moris are stronger)
Basicly, you can. The perk plunderers instinct helps you with that. I use it, and i get a key about every two - three games, and thats without luck or chest offerings.

Yes, they are "fine". :)
And how often does this happen to you? It happened to me twice. I had really worse experiences in the p2p hosting.
-
On the other hand, if you are insulted after the game anyway, i like it better to be insulted for winning.
If i try to play without tunneling or camping, and all 4 escape, i get insulted almost every game. If i camp and tunnel, most players are gone when the game ends, and the one that still insult you you can way easier laugh off.
Is it toxic? Maybe. But my toxicity is a reaction, rather than being toxic by itself.
-
well, for a killer sided forums there are a lot of survivor complains, if you ask me. I, personaly, believe that the killer complains are often more justified. But thats just my personal view point.
I play survivor more than killer, but i do play both sides, so every nerf or buff affects me positive and negative.
As a survivor, mostly solo, my escape rate is way higher than 50%, and there are few killers i struggle against.
from the killer pov, there is much more potential for an unbalanced match. But if its too easy a 4k isnt satisfying, and if the survivors outclass you, the matter is not the 4 escapes, but the struggle for every single hook, resulting in tunneling and camping. Bit that has more to do with unfair matchmaking. And that inbalanced is accepted by the devs in order to shorten lobby times.
-
Well, how about that: Moris only activate after the second hook, but like the meyers-addon you can mori that survivor even at full health. Would be a nerf, because you need a second hook, but would be more than just a cosmetic for the last hook.
-
I play surivor 60% killer 40%, and i am not sure. While i think smaller maps are better balance wise, it supports fast games, while i like my games to be about 15 minutes long, with lots of hidding, a few chases, many hooks and many gens done. Then, in the end it doesnt matter who won.
So i think the smaller maps are more significant than the gen time change. The god loops had to go balance wise in any way, i belive.
-
Maybe you should stack them uneven, like a 13% for the first hook, 5 for the second.
Or 10% for the first, none for the second.
This way, it highly encorages you to get the first hook on each survivor.
