    I can answer this

Killers bring up keys when mori's are mentioned as they do the same thing almost

Mori's deliver HUGE pressure, Key's take away HUGE pressure by having 1-4 survivors escaping through hatch

Both equally powerful, simple changes can be done to them to make them still useful

Ebony Mori- All survivors must be hooked once before you can mori any survivor

    Ivory-Same as before

    Cypress-Base kit

Keys- give a process to opening hatch, sort of like working on an exit gate. It being instant can make the killer only watch as the survivor gets out without punishment

Simple balance changes to make both weaker, while making them useful still. People have mentioned the 2 hook idea for Mori's but then they will become almost useless as its safer to just hook the survivor for the sacrifice.

Well, yes the killer cant do anything with the hatch if the survivor has a key. Just as the survivor cant do anything to the killer while he moris someone.

So, why should the killer be able to interfere with a hatch because survivor has to open it, survivors however cant interfere with a mori? Wouldnt it be more consistant if both were interactable, like a mori is canceled if the killer is stunned or blinded?

then maybe the amount of work the killer has to do to use a mori at the moment might still be ok.

No it’s not good enough when people just camp hooks . That’s not fair for survivors :/ you can also look at it as they only have to hook 4 times as opposed to 12. That’s a huge difference and I don’t see anything that gives survivors the ability to instantly complete a gen? Where’s the survivor ultra rare offering?

And SWF is unfair to killers. You know what, if you support a lobby indicator for swf, so killer can decide to play against them or not, then i support the nerf of moris. Is that fair to you?

  • @SurviveByDaylight said:

i think killers have too much in terms of one hit down abilities (exposed, iridescent head hatchets/infantry belt, etc) that I think they don’t deserve a Mori. It’s just excessive.

Just out of curiosity, what killers do you play, and how often?

  • I actually loved to run bond or kindred, but the point came where i couldnt take it anymore. Now, i run Left behind and plunderers instinct. I look in chests for a key, and whatever i find one or not, i try to resolve the game normaly, i do gens, i unhook, i even go for the other survivor if he is hooked or slugged and its only two left.

But so often i get out when the first survivor decided to suicide on first hook or disconnects, while others just dont do anything. So i started playing selfish myself.

  • do you think hex totems - maybe with the exception of devour hope - are high reward?

  • HAve you ever tried to adjust your playstyle vs those killers?

  • WEll, we cant stop biased dumb ass survivor mains, so why should we stop killer mains for doing the same?

  • From all i heard and experienced, i dont have much faith in the devs to fix this.

First, the whole " we wont show you were you are ranked in matchmaking, its secret" just seems like they have no idea how to balance for skill.

Second, if they really keep in a certain skill range, top ranks would have longer waiting times, because a lot of top skilled killers dont play anymore, because of the screwed balancing.

Third, They are aware of the problem can mean anything from its fixed with the next midchapter or is fixed in a few years. They are aware the sound is broken as well, and nothing happends there.

  • I disagree

This does not prevent people from equipping both Perks. Big Brain Moves, playing with 3 Perks. My highlight was a Killer playing with Ruin, PGTW and NOED. But well, not his fault when he loses, obviously, running 2 Perks most of the game is fine.

But, in my opinion, the use of PGTW lead to the Ruin-Nerf. At least partly. Ruin affected new(er) Survivors more than experienced Survivors, and I can imagine it is really frustrating if you cannot hit Great Skill Checks, have problems to progress a Gen and then the Killer comes around and kicks 25% of that away (dont get me wrong, PGTW is a good Perk, at least the Killer has to do something for it. But I can understand that especially the synergy was not fun for new players).

    @Topic:

Players who lose with new Ruin will most likely have had equal results with old Ruin. To quote Scorpionz (Killer Main, Pig Main), when the topic "Gen Rush" came up in his chat: "Survivors rushing Gens is you not applying enough pressure" and this is 100% correct. Pressure on the Survivors, forcing them into altruistic actions helps to slow down Gen Progression.

Surely this cannot be blamed on the Killer player, Maps are a factor (and probably the biggest). Two equally skilled Killers vs 4 equally skilled Survivors can have a whole different outcome. Killer A might play on Chapel and Killer B plays on Ormond. Surely Killer A has a bigger chance to win, while Killer B might struggle (Ormond is btw. the only Map I would disable. It is not only highly imbalanced, but also buggy (Scratchmarks) and ugly looking... But that is a different topic).

So yeah, I dont notice that many differences since the Ruin-Nerf. For me as Survivor it is a little bit more annoying when it is up for a long time, but I did not have any problem with old Ruin anyway.

But old Ruin did not help that much to slow down Gen Progression (vs good Survivors, who can hit Great Skill Checks). While not everyone is perfect and 100% hits every Skill Check, many people get close to hitting 100%. While new Survivors will mostly hit way less AND are more likely to abandon Gens and run around, looking for the Totem.

I disagree. Old ruin did something new ruin doesnt, it gave trapper and hag a time for setting up their gameplan. This time is simply gone, because now you either go to set up and lose 2-3 gens before your first chase, or you simply ignore your power most of the game. Both is not very fun, and old ruin did help with that, because either people would be slower with the gens or would search for ruins, giving you the time to setup.

  • With me, it hangs on being a fair game.

If i am highly outskilled from the start because of bad matchmaking, the game is never good. Its not fun just to run behind a looping survivor and never catch him because they simply outskill you. If i finally got them, i can start camping because only one or 2 gens are left anyway.

On an equal game, however, i dont even care about the outcome. you have some chases, you win some, you hook people and go for the rest, you break some gens, they finish some, and its a back and forth where you cant tell who will really make it. Thats a gg for me.

  • WEll, the truth is, some people will then complain about ptp-connections, because the killer hosts, and still hits are registered on his end. Killers will complain less i guess, because every inbalance works in their favor then.

  • And again. Fix it.

  • Well, it happend to me today while i was on the hook, despite the fact i use a macro in my keyboard driver to struggle for me. Still went out. Happens.

  • and again, 3 red ranks and a purple. Fix it.

  • and again 3 times with 3 times playing killer, the last one was my rank 9 killer vs 2 rank 1s and a rank 2 and a rank 14. Still very balanced.

  • And still needs fixing.

  • i know survivors that teabag as a greeting when they meet other survivors, or to thank them. So it might just have been that.

  • Still needs fixing. I just post in this thread whenever i have a game with survivors ranking 7+ ranks above me, like just now. I just want to give the devs some feedback. Some might find it annoying, but so is playing these matches.

  • But the system is broken for months. And coming soon is not a date found in my calendar.

  • Because the game is very survivor-sided, especially if you are in a swf group, less and less player want to play killer. With less killers but potential more survivors (because some killers dont stop playing, they just switch sides) waiting times go up.

  • Just a reminder it still needs to be fixed

  • What exactly do you mean by "next to the killer"?

I spawned once with the red stain of the killer on my back, and he could move first, so it was nearly over. But as far as i know this was fixed, so what is next to the killer?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/140293/have-swfs-bought-off-bhvr

Devs be pulling in that dark SWF money lmao

The reality is that, the reason they don't do anything about the "SWF Problem" is because it's not really that big of a problem. Not every SWF you see is a coordinated depip squad, it's usually just people casually playing with friends, and BHVR has publicly available stats to back that up. 4 man SWF groups only survive 9% more than a solo survivor on average. If you think you're getting destroyed by coordinated SWFs every game, the problem is likely just you.

Well, i would argue if he gets destroyed every game, no matter what he thinks about it, the problem is not him, but a matchmaking that obviously continiously paires him with opponents above his skill level.

Why do you think he is to blame for that?

No it's just funny how many second chances survivors have and still find something to complain about. If the killer got every survivor and you're the last alive why do you think you should get a free escape ?

First, its still not a free escape. Second, the game would become very boring otherwise, because after the first death (which can come fast with people suiciding on first hook) the game could be essencialy over. The hatch gives an incentive to survivors to keep playing, because there is still a chance for at least one to survive, while you of course try to save them all.

Would you like games ending after the first hook?

  • Yeah, wonderfull. You just disconnect when the killer picks you up, and later you reconnect. Where are you? on the hook, or lying on the ground?

What about your bleedout timer? what about haunted grounds?

  • thats right. We need to keep this topic fresh, because it is important for the health of the game, but i think the devs have no idea how to balance a ranking fairly with short lobby times at the same time.

There was a thread about colorblind support, which only asked for the option to change the gen (and surivor auras, if it needed to) to blue, like the special gen auras at the summer event. So they already had such auras implemented. It havnt happend to this day. and Thats why you need to keep this topic up, because else the devs will try to ignore it, as it affects killers the most.

  • Yes. You made a wrong starement.

  • For me its the ruin nerf. once i set up my traps, there are only 2 gens left to go, and when you are in a chase the survivor go and trigger all your traps at once anyway. its not worth the effort anymore.

  • because it only happens in a fraction of games, and thus, is a nice alternative to the regular game.

Thats why i dont have problems with killer and survivor sided maps. Because while you get the one disadvantaging you, you also get the other ones, and it equals out in the end.

  • I disagree. So i am not part of everyone? or is your reasoning just flawed?

  • How about this: I stay in a corner or the basement, and do nothing, not even move, and wait. And then, if a survivor comes close, because he thinks me afk, i just down and camp him. so i am clearly not afk, but setting a trap. Is this bannable? Also, if i start playing the game, and see i am clearly outmatched again by bad matchmaking, and i go stand in a corner then, is that bannable? i mean i cant hooksuicide, thats the only option i got then, right?

  • Maybe its as long as you are rank 20-16 or something like that?

  • Well, for me dbd is not a game of catch, but a game of hide and seek. So yes, i do have fun this way. There is more than one way to play the game, if you are good at chases that just the easy way for the whole team.

  • But people can only learn if they are not completly outmatched, because otherwise they cant even realize their mistakes. There was a time some months ago, where matchmaking actually worked, and i got a lot of matches in my skilllevel. At some i had 4k, on some all survivors left, and most had 1-3 kills. But the point was that i was never just outmatched, i could win or lose mindgames and chases sometimes.

And from those matches i learned a lot more than from the matches where 3 redranks teamed up with a rank 15 just stomped me.

The argument is always just to learn, but a lot of people dont understand that you can only learn if you are not overburdend (or overcharged? dont know, not a native speaker).

He successfully stopped the survivors from escaping. That's a win.

But no one is getting extra bps or emblems for reaching the time limit, so calling it a win or loss is meaningless honestly...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1152044#Comment_1152044

Or after 18 minutes, so the total time is 20 minutes (a little more with dying or hooked survivors)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1152056#Comment_1152056

what are you trying to say here?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1152069#Comment_1152069

I never said this only happens when someone takes the game hostage. I said when this happens the match becomes boring as all hell and there's no reason for it to go on.

When the survivors aren't making any progress towards their goal of escaping for too long, it's classified as taking the game hostage.

There's absolutely nothing that justifies a 45 min game.

But thats an arteficial arguement, you can turn it around as easy. Because the killer objective is to sacrifice the survivors, and he hasnt done that.

On the other hand, the surivvor objective is to - as the name implies - survive, and they successfully didnt die. Should´t that be a win for them then?

Also, i dont see a need for the games to end faster. I actually enjoy the games that went on for some time, because they usually do so because you have actually a balanced match for once, where both sides get slow sucesses, but neither side dominates.

A time limit would just destroy the only games i actually care about, and which are the goal the new matchmaking hopfully achives.

  • well, but why should the killer win if the time is up. He didnt fullfill his objective either, so he doesnt deserve the win any more than the survivors do.

It's actually appalling how people read patch notes in this community, or how they view their experience with the game for that matter. "All the killer nerfs"? What nerfs? Ruin and...? What? Doctor has been buffed heavily, Freddy's rework put him in the top. Spirit's "nerfs" were barely noticable. If we're talking months back, Nurse is still easily one of the strongest Killers in the game and I can't even remember ever having gotten less than 2 kills with her in any match. Getting to rank 1 is still ridiculously easy - I don't know what you're asking for here other than not having to put in more effort for no reason. Just for statistics, 803 of my 1730 killer games played with a full loadout are all-kills. That's roughly 47% - or almost every other game. And this entire OP is criticising a killer who isn't even out for real, live experimentation yet.

Yes, there are super strong SWF teams out there who will most likely wreck the majority of games they're in, but that's a different kind of problem with the game having to do with communication levels not suited for its design (in my opinion). It's hardly representative for the game. I don't know, I honestly don't think the game is as unbalanced and broken as people say.

I have a question: Would you consider yourself an average killer, or above or even below average?

  • I usually play about 60% survivor, 40% killer. At the moment, due to the abuse you get by the unfair matchmaking as killer, i think its more like 90/10. and i am not a very good killer, and i dont want to become good enough to beat the top survivors, i just want players on my skilllevel.

I hope the new matchmaking will do that, but actually my hopes arent high about it. I think they just try to stop the complains with hidding the rankings, and you still will be outplayed, because not much high skill killers are left, so they have to scale down to weaker killers.

  • As a survivor mainly, i want those banns. Because whatever you think, you dont hurt the killer by dc´ing. You hurt your team. And they wait 20 minutes for a game as well, and when you just dc, they lost as well most of the time.

The killer just benefits from you dc´ing, even if he loses a stack of bbq and some hooking points (unless you give the last survivor the hatch this way, then he loses more)

  • Its a little bit of the killers fault. even in such a situation, i try to repair gens anyway, and thats why i get caught, and the one just hidding goes free.

So if i find myself in such a situation again, i too will thing twice about repairing, because i could be the one going free as well.

  • The truth is, i think killer mains are mostly good enough to dont have to rely on camping and tunneling. But its the people like me, that play both roles (and not even a main killer, but circle through them) that have to rely on it due to the bad matchmaking.

In my experience, if i get a fair game where i matched even with the survivors, then i dont have to tunnel or camp, because i am able to do something the whole game.

Its when i am hoplessly outskilled because i go against those players 10 ranks above you again that i use such tactics.

so i dont think it should reflect badly on killer mains.

  • @Seanzu said:

I'm curious, what effect does T-Bagging & Flashlight spamming have on the match?

Since Teabagging is meant as an insult, it has the same effect as racial slurs at a sports game. If you dont see any issue with that, maybe you should start working on your social skills, and/or your empathy, and i dont mean the perk.

  • Teabagging is meant to insult. Its sad that a lot of people doesnt seem to have a problem with that. Are racist or sexist insults ok too? I mean, its just words, aren´t they?

  • Comm also makes some killer perks useless. How good is knockout against swf with comms? And Objekt of Obsession is simply the worst in swf.

  • I play 60% of my time as solo survivor, a little bit with swf, and a bit killer, and yes, i think survivors are the toxic ones in this game.

Especially swf if you are not part of their team. I played with a 3swf and two were hooked and the last was slugged while the killer opened the gates for esc. i risked it and saved the one on the hooks, then i distracted the killer (who then got me and put me on my fist hook), while the rest healed up, and then waited on the exit for the killer, with no attemped to save me from a non-camper...

But i learned from that, when i play solo nowadays, i run left alone and plunderers instinct. I do everything i can until i was hooked for the second time, then its just about my own survival. i was screwed over my other survivors way to often, who have no problem sacrificing you to make it easiser for themself, like running the killer to your hidding place until he finally notice you, or run the trapper to the trap you are in so it takes him nothing to just switch to you as a target. So now i stopped caring about other survivors. This community made me toxic.

  • But the argument that was brought up and that i answered was about being able to play with friends, not about bloodpoints. And yes, a challenge might be differently challenging, depending if you do it solo or in a swf. so i believe it would be fine if all who do it have the same starting point.

  • @Mistikus said:

why you want punish people who have friedns to play with

Noone wants you to punish for that. Get your friends, let one of them be the killer, and everything is fine. Of course, if you bully that killer he might want to stop playing with you, or stop being your friend.

  • Thats exactly what i fear, too.

While i understand that you keep the ranking mechanic hidden , so people cant manipulate them explicitly, i too think that its just a cosmetic to cover up that nothing is going to change. You will just have no evidence that you were outskilled from the beginning by surivors high over your skilllevel.

1 … 52 53 54 55 56 … 60
