  • To be honest, at almost 3000 hours into this game, it is clear to me that the vast majority of people who moonwalk are absolutely horrendous at the game, rather than the other way around. Most players who prefer showing off rather than playing properly just face the axe sooner. ^^

  • We will know if it works through patience. It´s not even been one reset yet. MMR is based on lots and lots of data, and gets better over time, the more people play.

  • Nurse, forever and always. I play most killers frequently though.

Feng min and Meg when I play survivor.

  • Justin Bieber as a "survivor". Just sample some of his terrible wailing as a death scream; would put a chainsaw to that any day.

  • POSSIBLE SOLUTION:

This worked for me. I quit the game and went into steam and verified the game files. After a fresh verification and a reboot of the game, the problem seems to be gone.

EDIT: Nevermind, it came back again after I played a survivor game.

  • This is in all of my games now, no matter which killer I play. Reinstalled the game and nothing changed. Really hope it gets a fix soon as it cripples all my matches.

  • Happens to me as well, just noticed twice in a row with different killers.

  • The problem with your question is that you worry about this weird concept that entitled, bad survivors invented and named "tunneling". There is no such thing. Kill everyone, it´s literally your only purpose as a Killer. If the teams you face are stupid enough to mess up their unhooks in a way so that your best bet is to whack the guy who was just hooked, go for it. There are no rules to this, and it´s not poor play from your side.

  • @WRussoW said:

Can we all agree that mostly all killers' adepts are hard?

Highly depends. With the old reset system I would get my adepts at reset, usually in 1 attempt. These days when I´m always rank 1, it´s a completely different story.

  • My girlfriend plays it with her friends frequently, and that naturally made me start playing as well.

29 is a bit much but im a decent killer too.

The problem is that theres a huge difference between rank 1 survivors and rank 1 survivors.

Lets say the game would actually measure skill with ranks.

Then I should be like a rank 4 killer (top 20%) I dont know everything about the game, but I have understood what does what. Im able to mindgame etc.

There are survivors that you cant win against with certain killers. And I had a streak against people like this. Youll get send to haddonfield etc.

Its just frustrating. You have a game against potatoe survivors or a game against a super gen rush squad. Both games are not fun the first one being to easy and the second one unwinnable.

Also I play on PS4 at night. which is the best time for hardcore squads.

I know all that, man, I just think it´s a bit extreme saying there is "no point" playing Killer. It´s just spreading a false picture.

Play survivor, there's no point in playing killer anymore.

After two years as a killer main, since the nurse nerf I moved to survivor.

Hopefully with predator and re resistance we will be able to find better games.

DBd as a killer is over

Haha, this is a funny post. Hold on, I´ll just finish this match and add another to my current 29 4k streak (all at rank 1, yes) and get back to you.

This whole discussion is getting very old. The game simply isn´t as black or white as a lot of people on this forum has it out to be. It usually comes down to two factors; you needing more practice or the general bad luck.

  • Most killers don´t use Iron grasp. Ever. It´s garbage.

  • You do realize that you get corrupted pools from this, yeah? In general, good survivors don't cleanse at all, because a range attack like that is someting you don't want to face. I find most Plague matches quickly turn into gen rushes because of this. The recent buff has helped a bit, but not nearly enough.

  • Definitely Hag. I can´t even remember last I saw her.

Agreed. They balance the game around the majority of the Community, Survivor players, since it is quite a bit divided on core issues of the game.

That's why Killers get nerfed more often than Survivors. Ruin was nerfed because a lot of new players started playing after the release of the Stranger Things DLC. They were frustrated because of the Ruin Skill Checks and the Devs nerfed it to the ground.

And yet, any skilled killer wouldn´t rely on Ruin anyway - I don´t even consider it a nerf. It was crap to begin with.

  • I do think they´re aware of the fact that many people think there have been decisions made that aren´t to some people´s liking, yes. Then again, they´re also aware that a lot of people do like them, and that the majority is pleased with the game. There is no point trying to present it as if the whole community (which this forum hardly represents, unfortunately) is hating on the game and that the developers would be too daft to comprehend the game´s issues. Because that´s not the reality of it.

I have a question: Would you consider yourself an average killer, or above or even below average?

My post disappeared, strange. Anyway, I don't feel that comfortable answering that question myself. However, I've put in the hours, and I've been an avid FPS gamer since I was a child. Seeing as I've also played professionally quite a bit throughout the years, I guess a more simplistic game like DbD is a lot easier getting into and perfecting over time. I guess the straight answer is above average. I'm very competitive, and I always try to become the very best I can be.

I have a question: Would you consider yourself an average killer, or above or even below average?

I'm not really comfortable answering this question, since it's going to sound like bragging no matter how I put it. I've put the hours in, and I'm an old school FPS gamer, making a game like DBD easily accessible in the killer role. Seeing as I've also played a bit professionally through the years, it's possible that my mindset and will to experiment is helping me a lot along the way. Above average is probably the straight answer. I'm very competitive, and I always play games to become the best I can be.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/135608/does-anyone-else-find-freddy-both-boring-to-play-as-and-against

Freddie is super easy killer to play, and his lunge is massive, yes some of you will say his lunge is equal to others, but nope, he lunge like a myres at tier 3, and how it feels in the game

Hook, Jump, Pop and Repeat, Drop unlimited snares with no cool down or limitation or slow down animation which I find ridiculous

No. The only killer with a unique lunge is The Shape. All the others are the same.

  • I play 50/50. Usually 3 games on each side at a time.

  • It's actually appalling how people read patch notes in this community, or how they view their experience with the game for that matter. "All the killer nerfs"? What nerfs? Ruin and...? What? Doctor has been buffed heavily, Freddy's rework put him in the top. Spirit's "nerfs" were barely noticable. If we're talking months back, Nurse is still easily one of the strongest Killers in the game and I can't even remember ever having gotten less than 2 kills with her in any match. Getting to rank 1 is still ridiculously easy - I don't know what you're asking for here other than not having to put in more effort for no reason. Just for statistics, 803 of my 1730 killer games played with a full loadout are all-kills. That's roughly 47% - or almost every other game. And this entire OP is criticising a killer who isn't even out for real, live experimentation yet.

Yes, there are super strong SWF teams out there who will most likely wreck the majority of games they're in, but that's a different kind of problem with the game having to do with communication levels not suited for its design (in my opinion). It's hardly representative for the game. I don't know, I honestly don't think the game is as unbalanced and broken as people say.

  • Not sure what you mean, but I assume you´re insinuating he doesn't have any. Well, with a killer who has the ability to put down traps (in two forms) and teleport to other generators, you've got a lot going for you compared to those who only have one thing in their arsenal to play with. That combined with how well he works with obsession perks and the dream world (like Dying Light, for example), or Sloppy Butcher combined with slowdown-addons, I think there's a lot to experiment with.

  • I main Nurse, and I've only experienced the first bug you mention. I never thought of it much as it doesn't happen that often, but it seems to be some sort of collision happening in certain areas of a map where you just can't travel through some objects.

  • People seem to think Freddy gets boring because it's easy to draw out matches way longer than normal. That said, I like him - he's one of my three main killers. I think he has a lot of depth since his rework.

  • If anything, increase the penalty. Make it an hour for every DC by default. Or two. The more we can do to keep this behaviour away from the game, the better. If it upsets you so much you have to disconnect from a match, effectively screwing four other people over in the process, then this game isn't for you at all.

  • I don´t like how you put all the inside maps together, as they´re quite different. I absolutely loathe The Game, but I like Lery´s and Hawkins.

  • Not sure what you mean, I think most people use cosmetics in this game - all the time. Maybe you're playing with many new players who don't have any yet?

  • If Killers had separate ranks, this wouldn't be an issue, in my opinion. And it would make a lot more sense if they did anyway, so that might be a possible solution.

It's getting really boring and tedious reading killers moaning about DS, Ruin, BT, Adrenaline etc...

Right, I've played rank 1 on both sides of the coin. I enjoy survivor more because i like running around and engaging in chases with the killer. Killer is fun also, it's also easy enough to win as killer even in high ranks.

The DS complaints... DS is used so much because of killers who are lazy and just want an easy kill. While I get that survivors would feel less reluctant to use DS if they weren't getting tunneled every game, I hate running DS it's boring as hell. But sadly I gotta force myself to run it because killers feel like it's fun to instantly down and target a somewhat exposed survivor. You only got yourselves to blame for the high usage of DS.

Ruin... Oh boy I would hate to see how much you guys sucked back when the old ruin was a thing and it got cleansed... Probably a instant DC...why do you guys try and rely on a gen slow down totem to get kills. Devour Hope is a great alternative...if you want to run a hex or even Noed. But there's some good builds out there, make your killer stronger with perks instead of trying to slow the game down.

BT is the same scenario to camping, tunneling killers...we wouldn't run it if killers didn't camp :).

I love when I get a good killer, has good perks... Doesn't tunnel and still gets 3/4 kills. All I seem to get is lazy killers...gen pressure is good.

The main issue with this game is the map sizes. It takes someone like doc a good 30/40 seconds if not more to get across coldwin...map reworks are coming.

While I agree that Killers complain way too much, it´s the same on the survivor side. All night I´ve had (as usual) survivors killing themselves on hook instantly, disconnecting instantly after a down, screaming like children in post-game chat, etc. Unfortunately a lot of players in this community act this way, I don´t think it´s just one side.

  • Indeed it has, and look how amazing the game is right now compared to then. In fact, it's absolutely awesome. Why I would spend time with it otherwise is beyond me.

But I think that's what this kind of boils down to. People are just inclined to complain as often as they can, usually without any solid ground to stand on other than having lost a few games, often refusing to adapt - ever.

People that swallow everything like " weell its probably for the best !!!! :D you woudnt wanna pway a bwuggy patch no?? OWO thank u devs for keeping our patch healthy and bug free !! " are so annoying.

You know, I'm not surprised this annoys you. It goes well along the lines of how many in this community approach pretty much everything. The game is buggy and unbalanced, queue times are too long, content is bad, updates are late, everything is unacceptable and doesn't align with your entitled plans, etc. One can't help but wonder why people who argue like this even stay? There are other games out there, and absolutely nobody is stopping you from playing them instead.

  • I want to experience them all, so I've played every Killer in the game and got their achievements (except a few Adept ones). The only Killer I've never played is Bubba. I don't know, I just don't feel up to it... he annoys me, and he's kinda bad. Plus I've already got his perks from the shrine.

If any Killer would be crowned my main, it would be Nurse. After her I mostly play Spirit, Freddy, Myers, Ghost Face and Doctor (in that order of frequency).

  • @Nestilana said:

How you doing? Despite all of the dev's bullshit, you still hanging along? No matter how many survivors butt dance at the exit gates... salt in the end-game chat because you didn't let them go (even though they never do that for killers)

You still hanging on? I know I am, but that's because I play Basement Hag and show survivors no mercy.

Really good, actually, even though I play survivor equally. Consistently Rank 1, mostly playing Spirit, Myers, Freddy, Nurse and Doctor. I don't think it is that bad, even. The community has become a lot worse though.

  • 3-4 minutes or so for survivor, about 20-30 seconds for Killer tonight. No, the game is not dying, but there will always be a group that says so. There were people saying it during the Nurse patch.

  • Well, if the update is delayed a mere week (which is nothing) - they probably have their reasons. I would rather wait a bit for a better working patch than get something buggy and unfinished early.

I’m telling you, the point system doesn’t make anyone feel too good playing survivor. Even if you get gen rushed there’s little points coming in because you didn’t hit the other categories. That’s the determining factor for me. I just want some points. Same goes for the other end of the spectrum dying really fast even though you had all the interaction with the killer and you leave with hardly anything? That’s messed up. Sometimes you don’t have a chance I literally give up. Might as well spawn in and let him take me to the hook. Especially while you’re in a trap 😂 I understand the percentage should be low without a perk but not that low. You might as well not even try. That’s bad game design to prevent me from playing your game. Bad game design to prevent me from being able to traverse or interact with things on the map when I push the correct button to get its effect and nothing happens or I get slammed on the other side. I run through a pallet and I push the button to drop it and nothing happens here comes the killer melee lunging at me to down me in one hit. 😰 How’s that okay? How are the vaults not being addressed? I can’t be the only one experiencing these issues. I don’t want to sit there and stare at a pallet slamming the button over and over to get it to drop. There’s no time for that. It’s not a latency issue either. It’s the game not working as smoothly as it should and screws me over. The fact that I’m across the map and spirit teleported from out of nowhere to get me is quite astonishing. As if speed and melee lunges weren’t enough . Nope they need more

Are you... actually serious? Or is this a troll? Like someone said a few posts up - ALL Killers except Nurse and Spirit move at the same speed (4.6m/s, or 115%). There is literally no difference between the others.

If you want points, you have to earn them - and it's possible with practice. Like in all games. You can't use an argument like "I've paid money for this game so I should get points". It's like saying you should be in ESL because you bought Counter-Strike at one point. But yes, as someone said previously, reading your reflections on how it is facing these killers, you probably just need more practice with the game in general.

  • Tome 2 was easier, but maybe that´s because a lot of the challenges this time around were more suited for how matches are played in general. Challenges in Level 3+4 in Tome 1 had horrible design, especially the ones that required you to do some really unorthodox plays that practically never, ever happen when playing in red ranks.

  • I feel like Trapper is stuck in an old version of DbD. I voted buff, but maybe I should have gone for rework instead - he just doesn´t feel suited for what DbD currently is. He can still a powerful Killer with the right build and addons, but his base design and the way traps work is just outdated and so easily outplayed.

  • I ignore them, always - they´re just wasting time. Instead of letting them waste yours, let them waste their own. I kill them last.

  • If anything, I bring a Med-kit. Self-care is wasting a perk slot, in my opinion.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1130254#Comment_1130254

Mori'ing after first hook is the reason why survivors are quitting DBD... It's toxic game play and doesn't benefit anyone, including the killer. There have been countless times where someone's been found immediately off the start of a game, downed within 30 seconds and hooked. Then only to have a random solo survivor farm them off the hook with the killer on their ass, to get insta downed again and mori'd 1-2 minutes into the game.

You can say it´s boring, if you like, but aren´t we done with the whole "toxic" crap by now? In that case it´s toxic game design; blame the game, not the player.

  • Thanatophobia is a must, in my opinion - it goes so incredibly well with people being sick. Other than that I usually go with Discordance, Pop and BBQ/Monitor.

  • None, as I´m not quitting - I love this game.. And if I did quit, I wouldn´t come here to post about it.

  • They literally mentioned in the previous dev update that they would be stealthily testing the new rating system in the coming weeks, and during that time you could experience some weird matches - I´ve for sure noticed it more recently than ever. This is fine as long as it leads to better matchmaking in the upcoming patch when the system is correctly implemented.

I have my hopes up - but I would like for the rating to be seen, so that I have some sort of indication on how I´m doing.

  • I disagree - the game is exceptionally friendly to new players if you compare to other developers who more or less never give any DLC content for free (i.e through an in-game currency). Also, everything except the characters is included for everyone in each patch - you don´t HAVE to get all the DLC content for your account; you can still play the game with everyone else.

On a different note, you can´t expect an almost 4 year old game to cater to new players by giving everything away with close to no effort - I think it does a good job evening it out for everyone. It should be rewarding to play the game a lot too.

EDIT: Also, just for the record, I have 1400 hours. The only things I don´t have is Bubba and Ash, for the sole reason that I don´t want them. 10 of my characters are P3-50.

  • I remember using it a lot back when I first started playing the game and didn´t have everything (on everyone), but wouldn´t think of using it nowadays. Not worth the spot, in my opinion. Maybe if I did some meme build at some point.

  • For starters, Killers don´t keep anything after a match - they lose it all (exception being if they use a Black Ward). Also, the Killer is just one person doing everything him/herself, whereas the survivors are four. The cap is the same for all five players (32k), and you can get there as either role - it´s just harder as a Survivor since other people will be doing stuff as well. As a Killer, it´s more of an effort as it´s all on you, whereas when you play survivor you have to even your efforts out among several tasks to get a higher amount of BP.

  • @Chrisko said:

Why do survivors get less points than killers?

    Has behavior ever addressed this?

    Am i mistaken?

It´s meant to be that way, for many obvious reasons. So in short, you are not mistaken, but it´s intended.

Wait, so this was the BL nerf? Lol

They could have just made all vault buffs killers have also applicable to the fall stagger lol. Not to mention that Killer has more airbone control.

It was a well-needed nerf, to be honest. With all the loops, sometimes infinite, most maps offer - the perk was too good.
