for me, the hatch keeps the game intresting to the end. When i play survivor, i play solo most of the time.
that means you have mates that disconnect if the killer sees them, or die on the first hook because reasons.
When there are 2 survivor left, its about who is found first. Yet, i do gens anyway, and hope the other one does as well (often, he doesn´t). Yet you have something to keep playing the game. if all works out, you might escape together, if not, you can still make it.
If the hatch was gone, you could just throw away the game after the first disconnect, because in a 3-1 situation early the most likly outcome is known.
-
I could give you some of my screenshoots as well, but they basicly look the same
-
I am between rank 12 and 9 as a killer and get red rank surivors all day long.
And no, i dont enjoy it.
What really enraged me yesterday was the comment of the dev, saying without ruin killers would just derank to their skillevel. But since you get the red rank survivors anyway, i dont know how that should help.
-
Today, i only had
Leatherface
Leatherface
Leatherface
I think that might change if i play survivor for a change.

"I'm going to try my hardest to ruin any fun for the opposing team." Is how 85% of high rank survivors play
Thats not true at all. They try to ruin the fun of their teammates too, if they are not in an swf with them.

So you're taking out your frustration on the community when the devs made the changes? So your goal is to purposely make the game unfun for other survivors because of a decision made by the devs? You think that will make the game better or make the devs listen to you? So your logic is when something you don't agree with is nerfed by the devs the best way to go about it is to purposely try to take the fun outta the game for everyone else. Put the blame where it belongs, not all survivors were wanting a ruin nerf. If you got a problem voice your opinion to the devs but taking it out on the whole survivor community is just immature. Sorry if I sound rude but the way you're going about things won't solve anything.
No, but his games might be less frustrating because he will get some results. The conclusion is just that you dont have to restrain yourself thinking of the fun of other players while not even the devs care about yours.
-
The problem is, as a rank 12-9 killer i already have to play against red rank groups, because it seems at the moment there arent that much red rank players. So having less just means more unbalanced games.

That was before the matchmaking changes though.
I forget what the margin is but it's based off the highest ranked survivor when queuing. I have never seen a rank 1 survivor against a rank 20 killer after the patch.
i just played 3 games as a rank 10 killer (last one was rank 9) and all of them were against red ranks. the first 2 had 1 green rank player sprankled in, the last one was 4 rank 2 players.
Not seeing the most extreme ends of the spectrum paired against doesnt make that matchmaking ok.
-
I think survivor mains should just counter them by playing killer in the ptb and show them how to apply genpressure without it. Should be simple, can show the devs how killers get 4k every game anyway, right?
-
I love hag, but she needs time to setup in the early game. With the ruin change, i dont know if she has that time anymore, so she might become a lot worse.

Naturally. But if that's the case, those who can't play at a high level will derank to a place where they're more comfortable. That is the point of a ranking system, after all.
Can you explain why i constantly play vs red rank surivovrs as a rank 12 killer then? Because to me it seems deranking does nothing, since you play against the highly skilled players no matter your own rank. The point is, your ranking system doesnt work very well.

At this point I don't even think it's about the devs just wanting to appease survivors to milk money from them anymore, they literally want to put the killers through hell just for the fun of it. Honestly, how is removing the little pressure that The Doctor has a "buff" or a "rework"? The devs changed his map so that it now has darker lighting (which is bad for killers, especially against Claudettes), safer loops for survivors, and they took away all the strongest positives from his power and nerfed his add-ons. But guess what? He has his own chase music now, so that negates all his negatives, amirite or amirite? It's so laughable as to how the devs can say that they "care for the whole fanbase" and are "close to the community". It's all just bs politics at this point. They only care for half of the fanbase (survivors), and rarely give attention to the other half, and when they do get attention, it usually comes in the forms of nerfs, or as the devs would like to call them, 'reworks' and 'balances'. I honestly thought the devs were heading in the right direction lately but now they're just going back to the old ways. I should've seen it when they nerfed Oni and Freddy. Welcome to Dead by Daylight, where half of the community is catered to and the other half constantly gets the short end of the stick. Are we having fun yet?
I am a little confused, maybe you can help me.
I play both survivor and killer, so am i constantly catered to or do i get the short end of the stick? am not sure...
well, i think those reworks sound awefull, and i liked doctor so far.
Also the map rework sounds bad, especially since i am colorblind and cant see scratchmarks, auras or blood on most maps anyway. Indoormaps where the exception so far, and colorblind support is not important.

A strong SWF team doesn't give a single ######### about Ruin, you're basically left with 3 perks against those swf death squads (which you rarely see). It's the normal games where ruin is needed more where survivors won't be hitting as many skill checks. Obviously they'll still probably get through gens at a reasonable pace but it'll be enough to make the match last long enough for you to get the ball rolling. Now we have corrupt which is much better for swf squads because it guarantees the game doesn't end in 5 minutes.
Can you define rarely? Because i ask the survivors after the game, and i dont see them regulary, not at all rare to me.
-
Remember, a lot of weak killers play killer not mainly, but as a counterpoint for playing survivor. And since game time is limited, not every player can invest enough time to reach the skill of red rank survivors you are paired against nowadays as a rank 12 killer, especially not for a role you only play 1/4 of the time.
So, killer have to go against survivors high above their own skill level, and they remove the tools because low rank survivor struggle with them.
So, if you are a weak killer you just stop playing? or what is the solution?
-
the amount of hours played do mean nothing either.
When i started playing dbd, i hadnt upgraded my pc, and i would run into problems if i started dbd for the second time without rebooting my pc. So once i started dbd, i just keept the game open while i worked in another room. So i have a high playtime, but actually played only a 1/4th of it in that time. I might be an exception, i might not be.
-
I believe that there should be a seperate lobby system for swf. So they either need to bring their own killer (if they are 4 already, there might be 5 as well) or find a killer willing to deal with them.
But they dont want to bring a killer, because if they behave toxic with him, we just wouldn´t play anymore.
-
I use it, because i am colorblind and the devs don´t give me a colorsupport (shifting the auras the killer sees from red to blue or yellow would be enough, but still asked too much it seems). Can you give me your settings per pm, then i would try them out and see if they help me
-
I am fine with it, i play mostly survivor, but i can count to 5 on my own, so usually i see all totems brocken. If i am not sure they are all broken, i try not to get caught. Works pretty good so far.
As a killer, i play it alot. It counters adrinaline, and a lot of survivors become cocky and rude if they think they won. getting them with noed is a good counter to that.

Still agree with the survivor, that's like survivors being toxic to a killer because they used infectious fright and slugged. Like that's the point of the perk.
Yet, survivor call it toxic when a killer camps with insidious, but thats like the point of the perk, as you said.
I think neither of those thinks are toxic. Thats just playing the game.
-
Also, there are different playstyles, even if parts of the community try to ignore it.
I am a red rank surivor, and i cant loop proper or chase either (altough i become a lot better at juking the killer).
Yes, i am one that hides and depends on not being found. Yet, its not unusully in my games to max out objectives and/or altruism (since a lot of people insist that stealth player are doing nothing during the game, which is just stupid).
Just beliving that chasing is the core of the game doesnt make it so, no matter how many people belive it.
-
the problem is, for a lot of people the way to play around is disconnecting.

Killers do the same.
In 2016 it was complaints of infinites and no exhaustion sprint burst. Fast forward 2019 and its keys and looping.
Pewdiepie talked about this recently in regards to his subreddit. Its something that's more related to human nature in general. Once people become accustom to something they complain about its short comings because they want something different.
The grass is always greener on the other side I guess.
Well, i have to say infinites needed to be fixed, so that was a very valid request. Sprint burst exhaustion is actually a good thing too.
But i see no reason for keys "to be fixed", expect maybe broken key. (i think it should open either the hatch that was closed by the killer, or a hatch that wasn´t closed by the killer yet. The aura reading on those things is a joke).
Looping, at least to me, is no different from camping. Both give the one that uses is an advantage, both are valid strategies, and both are boring as hell (i am talking about open loops, like around cars, where you cant even mindgame but have to run in circles unless you have a special killer).
I should mention that i actually play both sides, but while i am a red rank survivor, i struggle with a lot of killers (i play them all, depending on my mood, although i like hag best (and she ignores a lot of those problems, like looping)
-
Thats actually a good idea. With so few secret offerings, 3 of them being moris, its a giveaway anyway.
-
I play both, although i play surivor more and like it more. I started playing killer to learn about their weaknesses, but i liked it and i like playing killer.
The problem is the matchmaking. The games i enjoy as killer are the ones that are on equal grounds, where i am not highly outmatched or i outmatch my opponents. (but i dont even play red rank killer)
As survivor, i am red rank, and i like the challenge. but i suspect that i survive the majority of my trails.
Toxic survivors are my problem with the game, not only as killer, but also as survivors. Survivors that intentionally lead the killer to you when you are in bad shape so he switches his target to you, farm you in front of the killer, bodyblocking you after luring the killer in and such.
-
The problem is, a lot of survivors find killers annoying that win against them. you can easily see this with the nerf calls. Once one nerf is announced or done, another killer becomes "the problem" even if it wasn´t a problem before.
So, to be less annoying a killer has to win less. But then whats the incentive to play killer if your chances to win are further reduced than they are now?

People dont care about losing, they care about fair matches. if you lose after being unable to accomplish anything its just not worth playing.
-
In this game, gg usually means "i won. you lost", because in 95% of the cases i encounter, its used from the winning party if they just destroyed the other side, like a 4k, or a 4 escape. Sometimes the guy that escaped through the hatch gives a gg.
So i think gg is mostly used as another taunt in this game, so i dont use it anymore unless it was a real good game, but then i am not only saying gg but also give details of why i think it was one.

I’m on rank 5. My lowest is 2. I play both sides. Sorry, I know you want the game to stay easy and get your 4ks each game, but we all know killer is easy.
That might depend on personal play style and preference. I play surivor/killer about 65/35% of the time (less killer at the moment), and while i am a red rank survivor who sees rank 1 from time to time, i am only a rank 12 killer.
And all i get is matchmaking where i have to play against rank 1-3 survivors, because they have so long waiting times their lobbyrank expandes.
-
But what is the point of it? Even if you try a new killer at rank 18, with this matchmaking you would go against red ranks anyway. so there is no benefit.

I do not agree with your logic. DBD is a game. People DC because they are not having fun (killers and survivors). If people are not having fun with their game, I think it is a problem for the Devs.
More game balancing and in game penalty for unfunny and unfair behaviors should be implemented. For example BBQ it's a wonderful anticamping perk. And it works. Most killer with that perk don't camp. I'm sure Devs can work out something good again for a more balanced and funny game.
Can you define what balance means to you? what should be the result of a balanced game?

Quit complaining about swf groups
I never have issues with swf groups at rank 1. Idk what to tell you. And if you lose, who cares? Queue up again.
I'm fighting the urge to say git gud... but like... maybe you SHOULD face more swfs... so you'll get better at facing them and won't get wrecked so hard that you feel the need to come to the forums and cry about it <3
I can easily believe you have no problem with swf at rank 1. The problem is mostly the rank 14 killer paired against the rank 15 surivor with his 3 red rank pals that just team up for easy matches. And dont tell me they just want to help their new buddy, i had at least 3 teams where they told me afterwarts that the rank 15 was an alt account, and the player was another red rank really.
At rank 1, you play vs people of your skilllevel or below, at rank 14 being highly outclassed isnt fair, and the swf-communication is just on top of that.

You're getting really heated about this. What is it about getting better at a game that seems so impossible to you? Nobody has to pour ungodly amounts of hours into something just to improve. You're creating a strawman while ignoring the fact that the loss was your own fault. Seriously, take the loss and move on. We all have hard games.
Well, there are several factors you ignore.
One is limited play time. To really get better, you need time. But games where you are highly outskilled are very frustrating, and that makes people just not want to spent that much time in such a frame.
Next, while it is true that you learn by playing vs better players, that is only true if you can learn from your errors, and for that, you have to realize your errors. If you play against people who are slightly better than you, you might still lose, but you realize what did go wrong for you in this game. If the skill difference is too high, you cant even find out what went wrong, especially if its not one thing but multiples.
Third, why is it so hard to accept that people want to play within their own skill range? Most games and even sports try to do this. you dont throw a beginner into the champions league and expect him to just get better, nor do you pair a green belt vs a black belt in a tournament. Why should it be accepted in this game?
I rather have longer waiting times than playing outside of my skillrange. Yesterday i played vs a rank 17 killer, i was rank 3 as well as one other survivor, the other two were rank 2. That game was neither thrilling nor good. A game does become good if you are challenged, not if you are either outclassed or outclass the opposition.
-
No, looping doesnt lead to a standstill, and neither does camping. With camping, you just have to coordinate survivors to unhook. One surivor blocking the killer, one unhooking and tanking for the unhooked, maybe even one with a flashlight to blind the killer?
And there is not much mind gaming on an open loop, its just running in circles until you catch up and he drops the pallet. Very skill intensive, sure.
From the boring/skill perspective, they are not very different. Why did you wait for someone to say that and havent had you answer thought through? Seems like a waste of time.

Yes but it ruins the fun for everyone. Camping is such a boring way to play. It's a strategy but a crap one
So is running around in circles, yet survivors do it a lot. It you have to decide between boring gameplay a and equally boring gameplay b which rewards you a kill, you might be temped to take b over a.
-
I run Selfcare, Iron Will, Kindred and Left alone. Left alone saved my many lost games, because a survivor dc´ed or gave up early. (and/or the killer tunneld the rest)

I love how some people think Im a survivor main.
Also,no, Killer is 3X times more fun to play than solo survivor, stop playing the victim;the game is no longer survivor sided like it used to be in 2016-2017.
If you still lose a lot while playing as killer ,git gud
That depends entirely on your personal point of view. I play surivor about 60-65% of the time, and killer the rest (obviously). And thats because even as i play 90% survivor games as solo surivor, they are way more fun than killer games, because they are much more thrilling (at least to me). You have to survive, after all. Killer still has some basic problems (at least if you dont play killer main, because that is a requirement for "git gud" when you are constantly paired against red rank survivor as a rank 12 killer). Notice that i am not a rank 1 player, but end up with survivor between rank 6 and 3, and killer between 9 and 6 before rank reset).
And i dont want to invest more time than i have for killers to "git gud", i just want a matchmaking that pairs me against equally skilled survivors.
-
Did it with insidious Bubba first try, and i am not a good killer. Hooked one, patroled around the barn where the basement was (its one of the autoheaven maps i think), got a second, and then sat back with insidious. Afterwarts, survivors said i was toxic, i told them i just did it for the achivement, and they told me i lie, because the achivement would only require to hook the surivors, not kill them. Then i told them they mean a different achivement, they said they did them all and i was lying. So maybe its just about getting surivors that are not too bright.
-
The thing is the matchmaking. I tunneled and camped a lot, because if the survivor highly outskill you, its very frustrating. Some weeks ago, they changed something in the matchmaking, and after that i had some matches with only survivors at my rank. I didn´t camp or tunnel in this games, because i could actually do something during the game and wasnt just a dummy.
And the more skilled i get, the less i need those tactics.
But then, i only play casually, and killer only about 35% of the time.
But too often i played vs red ranks at rank 13, and then you camp if you finally get one.
Fix matchmaking and the rank system, and tunneling and camping will reduce themself, at least that is my believe.

Insidious leatherface in the basement is a classic one used for camping and has been a strat since he was released in 2017.
A tip is never to send messages. Let it go and move on it's just a game after all.
I disagree. While camping is not bannable, intentional griefing someone is. And with video evidence showing he is doing it not as a strategie but to destroy the game experience of people, i would think it might be bannable.

your aregument is invalid... you can find a key in a match and get a whole squad out for free, when the killer is looking for people at exit gates. And a swf can have up to 4 keys.. a killer can only have 1 mori. and guess what. The killer still has to work for that mori. Meanwhile if 1 survivor hides in a locker all game and has a key, they just wait for the killer to close the hatch for end game, and then just hop right in.
Ok, i dont understand that. You can bring 4 keys, everyone hides the whole time and you get out the whole squad for free... i dont think that is how it works.
First, go get out 4 people, you do need to do 5 gens. how is that "for free"?
Then, if 4 people bring a key, and one of them get out without doing anything all game, 3 people wasted theirs, because they didnt get out.
And yes, the killer can have only one mori, but that allows him to kill all survivors after hooking them.
I dont think your post makes sense at all.
I think both keys and moris are fine. But to tell the truth, i use them all the time at the moment , because so much people are crying for a nerf. I never used instaheals, and now they are next to useless, and i dont want the same to happen to my moris and keys, so i uses them all up now.
Others might use them for that reason too.
But i can live with all of that, because i play surivor as well as killer, so i win and lose either way.

I am not sure, somewhere between 9 and 4 i think. Doesnt really matter, because you get potato-allies at every rank, as well as random killer ranks.
-
I did all the challenges as solo player and its doable.
you just genrush the killer, dont go for unhooks (other ones do it anyway, or they do gens) and you are in the endgame very soon. Then you open an exit as fast as possible, and 2 out of 3 killers run noed anyway (and noone did totems, as always). They down one, you unhook him with borrowed time and dont care about getting caught.
challenge done.

There is no flashlight save requirement.
there is a blind the killer while he is carrying someone requirement, and thats quite easy to do (at least if you have some fireworks left). Bodyblock the killer when he is carrying, and drop the fireworks. Done.
-
Exactly this.
As about staying by the hook: some killers come back, and i had people who stopped healing me and bodyblocked me so the killer would go after me as easier target.
Also, if i know a survivor failed his skillchecks 3 times on the first gen, i dont want him to do that and tell the killer where i try to recover.
-
I can only say, that nowadays i seldeom encounter the nurse, and i never died to one since the nerf. But in one of those games one actually got a kill.
And i mean it, i never disconnected because of the killer being a nurse, and if i her one now i know its an easy win.

Works as intended. Sorry, new Survivor players are not allowed to have a enjoyable game experience when playing with Friends, same goes for random Survivors who are in the same Lobby.

I rather wait longer and have a fair match thank get it fast and play way out of my league.
So, basicly, it means i play a little less killer and a little more survivor, because thats way less frustrating.

I would really like an answer why we got that kind of matchmaking back. Today again, 3 rank 2 with a low rank survivor. It happens again and again. Why do i have to endure that?
