I like that idea. But on the other hand, i would like to have the same punishment for survivors, if more than one are working on gens at the same time.
that would solve the genrush-problem as well.
-
Happend to me just now. I on rank 10, vs 3 rank 3 players and a rank 12 player, only they told me afterwards its his second account, on his main account he is also rank 1.
Yeah, thats how i want to play the game, being chanceless against much more skilled surivors.
-
I suicide on the hook, i admit it.
But usually it has nothing to do with the killer or his perks.
Instead, it has to do with my fellow survivors (note that i play solo most of the time).
Its not uncommon in sologames to have other survivors lose the killer not by juking, but bringing him to you (and i mean by purpose, not by accident), unhooking you without bt the moment after you were hooked (the killer is standing there and not even hitting them, he is waiting for you to be unhooked), bodyblocking you so the killer gets you instead of them, making noise intentionally while you do whatever to notify the killer, and such.
A lot of surivors a very toxic, and i dont want to play with such people. DC is forbidden, suicide is not.
Solution: Be a decent survivor, dont only think about yourself, and dont mess up your fellow survivors.

You never paid for that, so you can´t complain about it. right?

Strange response to someone asking for advice.
Especially when the survivor in question are at rank 14-16. Deranking to get easy matches against more unskilled killers has nothing to do with accpeting someone is better than you.

Because it's not.
Oh i understand. This is not about a discussion, its about the echo chamber. All right, i go as quietly as i can to not wake you up.

To me, the reality is this: I was matched up constantly vs players that were way better than me. I couldnt learn from those games, because i didnt even know how they outplayed me.
So i resorted to camping and tunneling, which lead to salty survivors, but got me kills.
Now with the cange, i had some easy games at first. i could catch surviors, and now that my rank adjusted, it gets harder, but now i actually see what i do wrong, becaue while surivors escape sometimes, they are not that way above my level, so i can see when i just make a mistake, or they made a gamble which came out good for them ( i never could see that vs. the players ranked 10 or more ranks above me).
Since the change in matchmaking, i never camped or tunneled, because its not the only way to be able to do anything anymore. Sure, sometimes i get 4k, sometimes all escape, but i don´t feel as helpless anymore as i feel vs. 3 redrank players with their rank 20 buddy playing against my rank 15 killer.
To me, this is a good change, because yes, i am a bad killer.
Notice, though, that i play 60% survivor and only 40% killer. I know both sides, and i like the change. Yes, it makes the swf suvivor games more challanging, but then we have communication anyway, which is an advantage even to the lower ranked players.
-
The option: Ruin is already balanced and doesnt need a rework is not there. Why?
-
As a survivor, i think nothing would beat Ace. Although i have no idea how to turn Nitro Nine into a usefull perk.

Ultra rare Ebony moris and ultra rare addons should only be usable at higher ranks
It would also incentivise ranking up!!
Are you for real?
You are aware that low rank killers that play against swf are already at a disadvantage, even without voicechat? its not unusual for a rank 14 killer to be paired against a rank 16 survivor and his red-ranked friends, where the killer cant keep up with their experience. On top of that, they have voicechat. and on top of that, the killer should lose his ultra rares, while 3/4 of the survivors still have them?

Average.
Just like it isn't fair for a rank 2 survivor and a rank 15 killer to be in the same lobby, it also isn't fair to have a rank 2 killer up against a rank 15 survivor.
While that is true, there is one big difference. The survivor is the one that decides to team up, and which whom. Thus, he has some control over the rank of the killer. The killer simply has no choice other than dodge swfs.
-
I dont like it. I play solo a lot, and let me tell you: if i am near someone getting hooked, i go to the rescue. I usually do save unhooks, or, if thats not possible, i bait the killer and tank for the one unhooked.
But in a lot of situations, being solo, you are not the only one on the hook. And i think if a one of a 2-swf is hooked, and hia mate and a random comes for a rescue, he would simply kick the random away to give his mate the points.
After a short while, if that were to happen, i would simply not go for unhooks anymore. Go for a full stealth build, and take the hatch when the 3. survivor dies. Might change the whole game dynamic.

@sulaiman We did with some of them. It varied in terms of quality game-wise. Biggest problem was that (a) it didn't net any BP and (b) the ones interested in playing killer didn't match the level of those who wanted to play survivor.
But wait, point b) is still true with random killers, isnt it? Basicly, since you are matched based on your lowest rank player, you still will have the same skill difference, but instead of frustrating one of your friends you frustrate a random killer for whom you dont care. And if he tries to counter with what few means he have, people quit because its so unfair, but it was the swf that makes it unfair in the first place.
-
Just out of curiosity, did you play the kyf mode with your friends? Because this way, you could regulate camping and tunneling in your circle of friends. If you didnt, why not? Was noone out of 15 people intrested in playing killer?
Or was killer too weak and frustrating to play against a swf time and again?
-
I was acussed of stream sniping at least 3 times. And i never did it once. I dont watch streams anyway, much less if i want to play myself.
so how can you even prove it happend, since streamers obviously can´t determin if its happening or not?
-
while you might know if they did totems, how do you know they not just sabotaged every hook on the map to 99%? Just asking. But for a real answer, which rank were you playing?
-
Well, i use the colorblind filters of my grafic card, but it changes the whole colorrange, and thus the whole game experience. On the upside, camoflage claudette suddenly is hard to miss...
Ingame colorblind option still needed
-
Also, for some survivors you prestige for the camoflage.
-
It might be while it is effective, just running in circles is also boring as hell. Also, i think they belive that if they drop enough pallets, the killer has to break them before he follows and thus they can "win" the chase.
-
While i belive its true that good killers dont need to rely on such tactics, bad or mediocre killers like myself do. And since they are paired against high skilled survivors due to the swf pairing, they need to do something to keep up.
Also, there is a corolation. In games where i don´t tunnel or camp, i get teabagged and insulted later in the game. In the game i tunnel and camp, they don´t do that, because my chances of getting them all are much higher. And since a lot of survivors just behave rude (insulting killer in the after game lobby even if you didnt camp or tunnel), i dont feel responsible for their fun or a fair envoirement for their game anymore.
-
I would be fine with the killer not knowig, if the survivors also wouldn´t know if their fellow survivors bring items. That would only be fair.
That of course means, that if the survivors know (trough playing swf), the killer should know their setup too. And we finally had a way to tell they are swf.
-
Well, shouldn´t survivors be compensated for a disconnect as well? Because they get a huge disadvantage. something like increase action speed by 25% to compensate for one missing player? Sure it will be abused, but there are lots of solo survivors who are hit by disconnects much harder than the killer.
-
Still needed.
-
Well, i think here advantage is not as big as some people make it out to be. First, it depends on the map, and while i love hidding with her, i had very similar success with p3 meg or p3 jeff. But since for me the game is more hide and seek than chases, i like it that way.
-
I have to use it when i play killer, because i cant see the hook and generator auras otherwise. But it ruins the feeling of the game, because it dosnt change just the auras. But the devs seem to have no intrest in a simple fix to that.
-
Intresting, how the op argues about being robbed of winning when he himself owed the win to a perk he used. If those second chances go, shouldnt perk that reduce your normal chances like haunting grounds, noed, and ruin also go?
In my view, the balance each other, at least to a degree.
-
Well, since the devs have no priority to changing the red auras for colorblind people, i experiment with the colorblind filters the geforce offers. funny enough, there are settings where camoclaudette actually is quite visible, while some of the brighter colored skins of survivors become invisible (at least to me, but i am colorblind anyway). Maybe that offers tools for others too.
-
where can i see what changes are being made?
-
Hiding from the killer is not a static thing, you have to be in motion.
hide behind some walls, trees whatever. and when the killer goes around it, you do the same. usually, the killer doesnt make a full round, just sweep the back.
if you want to just crouch there and not be seen, take claudette and prestige her.
You can do fake tracks, like running from the gen, then stop running when you reach a cover, and go back the other way, then hide in the next cover to come while the killer trys to pick up your tracks again.
Hidding in lockers is risky, but often worth it, as lots of killers wont check the ones a little away (unless tracks run up to it). dont hide in the closest locker.
Also, perks that tell you what the killer is doing might help. i run bond, so i can usually tell if the killer is coming for the gen or chasing another survivor.
-
I found myself in a game 1v1 with a killer, because 3 others disconnected. You really are saying its my fault i lost, in a game balanced on 4v1?
-
well, i still dont know what the exploit is. you have to use 2 knife addons? i play legion from time to time, and was thinking of doing that, but so far didnt. But i understood that correctly, yes?
-
Well, i play survivor 60 - 70% of the time, and killer the rest. Yet, i agree with the killers. Maybe its not an echo chamber but a know fact if one is not completly biased.
-
Still needed. Just give the option to change the auras from red to blue as killer, that would help a lot for start and is not hard to implement.
-
Why is it not ok to relay on stealth instead of chases? Some players just don´t like running the killer around in circles for as long as they can. Why is it bad to have an option for that? Oh, because then killers might get used to fighting more than one mechanic?
-
Hmm, when i play against ruin, it usually lasts around 3-5 minutes, because i am the only one searching and everyone else is hidding.
-
I am pretty sure i get him. If chins could kill...
-
I too use the macro funktion of my keyboard driver for wiggle and struggle macros.
Both are boring and annoying at the same time. Also, i already use up one keyboard where the space key wouldn´t funktion anymore.
Maybe that are funktions the devs might either update or just allow macros for.
If such macros are still considered cheating, let me now plz, and i wont use them anymore. But at the moment i don´t consider my keyboard driver to fall under the mentioned categories
-
Why do you think this belongs in General Discussions instead of the tech support/bug report board?
-
Survival points for escaping should go down to 1.5 or 2k bp, but you should get them for each survivor that escapes. That way, you have actually an incentive to save your fellow survivors in solos.
-
what is the integer for?
-
Well, i do gens just like everyone else, where do you have the idea from that i don´t? I cleanse every totem i come across (and still get downed by noed, because noone else does), and i do unhooks. But i try do do save ones, not while the killer is standing there looking at you.
I wonder why you think running in circles is fun...you dont even need a killer for that, you can do it all alone.
-
No, your idea is just not very good.
i personally think more perks could help against swf, but against solo surivors, this would be devestating. So, i still think different lobbys for swf and solo would be a good thing, because then you could balance the killer for both styles.
-
To clarify, chases are ok, but just running in circles around some objects is not.
And if you read my text, you see i was refering to looping, not to chases. But even then, i tend to avoid them. Hide and seek is my favorite part of the game.
Also, it is something different to lose the killer in a chase to just waste as much of his time as possible.

if you run borrowed time and well make it then im sorry honey but thats your fault, if you play solo, act selfish, that what the community is at this point,if you play swf with your friends take borrowed or whatever,if you play solo just be selfish and farm other mates for bloodpoints. i get farmed 95% of the time i play solo, i famr others aswell at this point, the devs dont listen and dont change gameplay at all so why should i try to play fair at this point. anyone remember the devs saying 2 years ago they wanna change hooking so that in 1st phase you wont bleed anymore so the killer has no point in camping you? well here we are, 2 years later, nothing changed but more and more issues.
i do the same, for mostly the same reasons. I dont quit for camping or tunneling, because the killer choose this strat and i am not going to help him. I only give up and let me get killed if my fellow survivors act like they deserve it. Intentional bodyblocking, hookfarming, losing the killer by leading him to you, that type of thing.
Thats why i think the individual bps for survivors should be a bp pool, where the teamwork is more empathized, like basing survival points on all surviving teammembers, not just one self.

People don't hate Legion because of his subjective power level. They hate him because he removes all skill from the game. The one thing in this game that provides real, dynamic interaction and is the core of the Dead By Daylight experience is the chase. How good you are at chasing/evading is one of the hallmarks that define a good player and a bad one. The Legion takes this idea and wipes his ass with it before burying it in a shallow grave. Chasing with Legion is a braindead experience and trying to escape him is almost impossible unless you get an actual Rank 20 potato with 5 hours in game.
Legion is just a poorly designed killer gameplay wise. The devs did not carefully think it through the implications of his power and the effect it would have. They managed to develop a killer that at base is both ineffective and unfair. The worst of both worlds. He needs to be reworked.
Well, i dont think chases are the core of the game. I think its just the way a lot of people play the game, especially experienced survivors who can loop the killer for minutes. Its also the "fastest" way to play.
I for example have a lot of games where i am never even in a chase, because i like the stealth element of the game. So i could argue that this is the core of the game.
You have killers and perks that attack the stealth-element, and you have killer and perks that attack the chase-element. I actually think that is good game design.

Lots of red ranks dont know how to loop properly either. I've had a lot of survivors just sling it down after first loop.
I am one of them. I play rank 1, but i can´t loop. Mainly, because its boring and i dont want to learn it. I rather try to juke the killer.
But since i know i suck at chases, i try to avoid them. Thats why i run from the hook, no matter if i am unhooked or unhook someone else. Because not being found is my main defense.
-
Well, i for example downt care about looping, because its even more boring than gen simulator.
So i dont. First, i try not to be found, and if i am, i try to juke the killer. For some it works, for others it don´t.
-
I let myself die on the hook sometimes. But it actually has nothing to do with the killer. It has to do with fellow survivors. I play mostly solo, and when other players lure the killer to me on purpose, sometimes just because reasons, sometimes because they are chased and want to lose him and they know i am more vulnerable so the killer might choose you, then i have no intention to play with those people anymore.
I mean, whats the alternative? They screw me, and if i cant let myself die on the hook, i try to lure the killer to the others, by blowing up gens on purpose and dropping pallets? You really think thats a better solution?
Of course, some survivors could just start to play as a team, and not intentionally screw over their mates, and no "disciplinary measures" are needed.
