  • We love it when its Ruin and it gives the killer a free match. So awesome! Thanks DbD I'm sure this will get fixed "soon" since its a bug that benefits Killers.

Completely disregarding everything you said about skill because you sound like a "but I can't troll and loop the killer with 1-hits; or I was victim of camping and it made me sad, punish them" Survivor main....especially saying DS needs a buff because of "bad killer behavior". When BHVR comes along and says that the behavior is not legitimate - then it becomes bad behavior. Until then; ######### your personal enjoyment of the game, the object is to win right? Survivors need to quit bitching and moaning left and right until matches because trolling juke-fests anytime they have to so much as play the slightest bit more carefully.

A system that determines if a DC was intentional or unintentional would cost too much money for BHVR. Hell, they don't even want to invest in a game recording system so you can report in-game and it automatically send gameplay from the previous game.

It is much easier for BHVR to blanket punish; and the DC penalty is reasonable enough that it doesn't constantly hammer on penalties unless you are constantly DC'ing -- and if you are DC'ing enough that it is handing out penalities so often, you probably shouldn't be playing the game to begin with. Catering to low-end ISP is a bad idea; catering to the off-chance a DC was actually unintentional is also a bad idea.

Completely disregarding your entire post because there was just too much stupid to read.

Another record on repeat. "DC won't work" "Campers need to be punished" "Buff DS to stop tunneling"....

Camping and hyper-focusing became prominent because Survivors hated Hex: Ruin and found it irritating to go up against; and it messed with gen times so of course the Devs jumped on it and changed it. The change is actually better for the most part - just not at higher ranks. Lower ranks; Survivors are too damn potato-y to bother doing totems 90% of the time. Higher ranks; they just genrush anyway and don't have to worry about decay. Now, killers that relied on old Ruin; are now camping their hooks and 'puppy guarding' them to guarantee they can get their kills to slow the game down ----- and because Survivors don't just ignore their team mates, it works because everyone stops doing gens and fights to unhook the survivor. Which means game was slowed down.

DS doesn't need a buff. If anything, 2nd chance perks need nerfs in almost all regards; and Self-Care needs to be looked at and changed from being infinite uses.

DC penalities will work purely because it will hinder the players that quit because "they aren't having fun" for whatever petty reason -- downed and not allowed to escape a chase; allowed to get ot struggle phase when on first hook; don't like map; don't like killer.... and it punishes them for having the selfish mentality of "my fun" over sticking through the game - even if it is to buy teammates time but hanging on a camped hook.

Thank you for proving my point, evidently if the record is on repeat then there is a consensus among players that this isn't working. And your tears for Hex Ruin are pretty delicious not gonna lie. That perk was broken and able to single handedly give killers a ggez 4 kill match. That would be like giving survivors a hex ruin where all gen progress was increased by 10% until killer took out totem. It's stupid and the new system forces killers to actually EARN their kills.

And no, DS does not need nerfs, it needs the buff to deter bad killer behavior. Just because you are bad at playing killer doesn't mean you have to ruin it for the other 4 people. I'm also assuming your a strong advocate for making a barren 10x10 maps with hooks as walls so all the killer needs to do is spam a button and hook people for wins. Because your entire post seems to be a big whine about how you are bad at the game and cant secure kills unless you have the "I'm lazy, I win" button. Statistics don't lie and from Behaviors own stats killers are doing just fine with most averaging 65+ % kill. That's 2-3 kills for the vast majority of games, if that number was below 50% I might take your comments seriously.

I didn't suggest getting rid of DC penalties, which you would have known had you actually read the post. I suggested that changes be made so it isn't punishing people who have no control over the situation. And no it won't work for other reasons either, because I still DC when I see a killer face camp another survivor on hook and no DC penalty will change that either.

  • @Milo said:

Lastly. With future killers, I would suggest Xing any 1 hit down abilities, and actually have killers work for their kills. Otherwise if you want to continue giving out 1 hit downs just make a 10x10 map with nothing in it but hooks, and let the killers get their 4k.

Oh yeah because any M1 killer (without mobility) is good right?

There are a few good killers who don't have a "I'm lazy I win" button and do perfectly fine. Guess it all comes down to the skill of the player. Killers with no skill tend to gravitate towards 1 hit killers because they are garbage at chases or simply bad at the game. Killers who know how to chase or play the game don't need the "I'm lazy, I win" button.

  • @BigBubs said:

    It's already working though.

Didn't see a single DC in the past 2 days.

    Pointless thread.

I still DC when I or my teammates get face camped at hook. And no DC Penalty is going to deter me from doing so in those specific games.

  • Figures when I finally get frustrated enough to post on the forums I get a killer who just wants to farm and I get the challenge done. Though honestly I don't think I would have had it not been for a farming killer. Still think it should be nerfed down to 3 but meh, got it done now.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

No offense, but are you trolling?

DS is a strong Perk. It does not need any changes, and certainly no Buffs.

The only thing which I can imagine would be to reduce the Timer drastically and let it not expire when downed. Because someone who slugs the Person who just got unhooked right away, was still tunneling. Like 20 seconds, but if slugged in this time, the Timer does not expire.

But yeah, current version is more than ok, one of the best Survivor Perks, no crazy buffs needed.

Honestly I would ask you the same question, cause if you think DS is a strong perk and not situation in a very niche way then I gotta wonder.

And I would agree with the slugging suggestion, where if you are slugged within that minute the timer on it stops. In addition to extending its duration to 2 minutes instead of 1 though.

  • Of course they are, why else would the game be so heavily tilted in favor of Killers? And why else would they try to cover up this fact up by making the Survivor pip system a complete joke?

If the survivor (and killer) pip was based on surviving and killing (as it should be), then the number of red rank survivors would be a small handful and the red killers would be a flood. This would more accurately explain the state of the game and how balanced, or not, it is.

The problem is Killers (and Devs) think that in order for a Killer to "win" a match, they need to kill everyone. 3/4 is meh, and 2/4 is a complete loss in their eye. Which if were being honest 2 survivors in a game is a draw, and the most equal match possible.

And it's not survivors that need "buffs" and "better perks" it's killers that need nerfs and perks taken away. Why Killers should be able to see survivors through aura's is quite possibly the dumbest thing ever. Likewise nearly every killer has a form of 1 hit down ability or ######### over gens. Ruin/BBQ chili (the two perks that should be removed) are in every game, that tells you how broken these two perks are.

  • @sulaiman said:

The option: Ruin is already balanced and doesnt need a rework is not there. Why?

    Because it's not.

  • So I'm relatively new to the game (going on..3 months now?) and while Survivor is my preferred style of play, I'm starting to not want to play Survivor. I've dabbled in Killer and it's actually a ton of fun for a multitude of reasons. And I'm finding my reasons to play Survivor shrinking because there is no real incentive to play one. I understand why Killer Q times are going up, because its not as fun playing the game as a survivor when the devs are all but giving Killers "I win" perks cough Hex Ruin or ..you know...broken Nurse.

Now you can complain about how "hard" killers have it all you want, but the proof is in the pudding. Killer times are going up because fewer people are wanting to play survivor, and more to the point, even less games actually play out as they should because survivors are DC or suicide (and understandably so). You get more blood points on Killer, you don't need to rely on others, matches are completely and ONLY based on YOUR skill. I played Killer and didn't even have to really put any effort into my game play it was so easy.

The fact of the matter is I think most killers are basing their "win" status on if they killed EVERY survivor, and don't consider 2-3 kills a win. If all survivors live I think the game was garbage, if all survivors die I think the game is garbage. It really has to be a 2-3 kill game for me to consider the game balanced and an actual "gg".

Anyways my rant on why playing survivor has lost its appeal.

  • I'm fed up with posts about nerfing nurse, she is fine. I get it, survivors hate her because they can't braindead loop her.

She is just no fun to play against and almost a free win for killers. "Get good scrub!" Yea we haven't heard that one before, again you can say she's not broken all you want, still doesn't make it true. Obstacles are one of survivors greatest weapon against killers and she completely negates that . Couple that with the fact that the VAST majority of killers these days are running Ruin (which also needs the nerf stick).

If you want survivors to stick around in games and not either DC or suicide you need to provide incentive. Telling them, "Hey you have a 3 percent chance of making it out alive!" Is pretty much a sure way of having people give up once they realize its a nurse game.

So you reward a killer for camping? What do you think the killer will do next time he gets you in his lobby?

If they get rewarded for me DCing then sure. Also rewarding myself by not wasting my time in those games. I get a new game with out a camping killer much faster if I DC than if I play the game out

They removed it from their whitelist not because of how it was used, but because of how it could be used with respect to dodgy things like showing the IP address of the person whose lobby it is, not because people dodged lobbies.

At least that's how @Peanits reply to a thread read to me yesterday.

Well hopefully with dedicated servers this wont be an issue and killer names can be displayed again

I get to tell a story!

So, currently we have a large play population that uses MLGA, a network traffic sniffer, to see who their matched against in terms of player. Now this program allows you to create lists of people's screen names so it can tell you when you're in that person's lobby. They say this is to just create whitelists of people with stable connections. Yet, in reality a lot of the time they were just making blacklists of killers they didn't want to play against for reasons that aren't even remotely proper. This resulted in lots of lobby dodges and increased queue times so the devs had to put MLGA on their blacklist in an attempt to curve usage.

The reason you don't get to see the name or the killer chosen is because people can't help but try to cherry pick their competition. You hook a survivor early in the game before they get a chance to start a gen? Blacklisted. Don't give the hatch? Blacklisted. Don't spend the game farming because of an early dc? Blacklisted. Played defensively against overly altruistic survivors while you were on hook?Blacklisted. Many more non toxic situations occur than actual toxic situations, but since people love to get in their feelings and be childish they do things that mess up key components like matchmaking. They have to be held in check.

So this was a Fiction Story?

Also I'm sorry but I very much doubt the amount of "misuse" outweighs the actual proper use. That aside I'm also sure it would solve a lot of DC and suicide games since when people recognize that "bad behavior" they are going to DC anyway. And it provides proper incentive for killers to not do things that are considrered toxic to the cummunity like camping.

  • The real problem is DbD bases their decisions on how top tier players games behave. Ruin is essential in the top tier games because survivors are able to hammer out gens quickly. But it is actual cancer in lower tier games and is a pretty large incentive for survivors to suicide or DC from the match.

Unfortunately DbD doesn't have a system that allows them to address these issues as individuals, so in lower tier games Killers are pretty much handed free win games. And higher tier games are used to be the more balance games

  • So the goal is to conceal toxic killers so they don't get punished for their own toxic behavior? Seems to me that DbD has it's priorities mixed up. If said player is getting a lot of dodges then maybe said player needs to change the way they play to encourage survivors to play with them. Seems to me that the only people who have to fear this would be toxic players.

  • Camping killers are a real problem in the game, legit strat or not, and it ruins the game (for survivors anyway) I usually just DC from those games when I see the killer camping his first kill. It's one thing to camp when the doors are open (or close to being open) and its another to camp straight off the bat. The former I have 0 problems with because the killer needs their points. But the latter needs to have some sort of system put in place to curb that behavior (and no the current "incentive" isn't harsh enough).
