no, its totaly fine. I am also fine with being sacrificed if the killer camps, and they dont try to get my out at all cost. Then, i struggle as hard as i can to buy them time.
Its more the stuff like: if i am in a chase, and i notice survivors on my route healing up, or doing gens, or doing a hook rescue, i try to lure the killer away. But then i had a match where i got in a bear trap, and the survivor being chased changed his course and run to me, so the killer could then decide just to take me as the easy pick, instead of luring him away and make it an actual decision. (The chased survivor was not yet hooked, btw). And if i have 2 surviors like that, i just give up. and yes, that different of people who are chased and run accidently by you doing gens or something.
But sometimes you have such players more frequent, of maybe its swf and they are all like that. I had many games
-
Well, thats actually not about self care, but about bp distribution, which lacks in the team aspect of the game.

I still have my doubts, but if it's as you say, that's a huge disappointment. Really, DC-s (and I'd say suicides on first hooks are the same category)
Hook suicides are different. I do them sometimes. Why? Because of how your fellow survivors behave.
I see people who dc to somehow punish the killer, but (at least to me) hook suicide is the only way to not play anymore with a #########, selfish team. (which for example leads the killer to you on purpose when you already under pressure so the killer goes to you instead of them, intentionally bodyblocking you for the same reason, and other stuff. ) and i don´t do hook suicide because one of those thinks happens once, mind you. -
Well, its Rank 16. Maybe the player is still learning the game. At rank 16, i didn´t even know what the hatch was. And you have to be carefull if you want to survive, otherwise you get caught. That actually IS part of the game.
Yesterday, i had the same situation as a killer. Was ready to report that guy. Turns out he just didn´t find the hatch (which was well hidden, and while i didn´t camp it, i had a long terror radius, so he might have thought i do.) Took an age to finish, and it was ligit all the same. Also, when i took the hatch for the first time, it took me about 10 minutes to find it, because killer was patroling, and i didnt want to get caught. boring for the killer, big thrill for me.
So i know the situation from both sides. And if its legit, it should never be a reason for a ban.
-
The problem is that bp for the teamfraction does not reward teamplay. If several people come close to a hooked survivor, one started to sprint to get the points instead of anyone else, even if they notify the killer, set of hag traps or whatever.
Several of the team-actions should be rewarded to the team that is near (and/or engaged with the killer), to reward teamplay. at the moment, you have to do it all instead of your teammates to earn the points. That is an incentive to farm your fellow surviors. Also, bonus for survival should depend on the number of surviving players, not just your own.
-
Very true. You simply should have the option to opt out of that toxic enviroment.
-
The problem is, dc is just a symptom of another problem.
Yesterday, i disconnected for the first time in this game. Why? i am not a very experienced killer yet. And i was paired against a 4 ppl swf-group, that were very toxic. They were in skill way above my level, but obviously paired with a low-rank-player to be paired against a lower rank killer like myself. The game was basicly done, 3 gens very early, but then they stopped doing gens, and started coming after me....they could dodge my hits, took turns taking them, while healing back, luring me and looping me.
they obviously had no intention to play the game anymore. Then, i disconnected. But i dont see why i should be punished for that, because i tried to play the game, but was highly outskilled, and the others didn use that to end the game fast, but to draw it out. Find a solution for that before you start punishing people for not wanting to be played with in this way.
-
So, you think disconnecting and stop doing gens is the way the game is meant to play?
-
Ignore the chat as killer, or calm your mind and let the game go on there. I usually say something like i did it all on purpose so i can sacrifice their tears to the entity too. That puts most of them hard on defense, and their reaction to that is mostly funny ^^. But always be polite if you doing that
-
well, were you the one calling others "little noobs"? Since it is the plural, i could imagine it was you.
I think that counts as an insult as well, and if 4 players are targeted with that comment, it might count as 4 cases of communication abuse, right? -
Well, i haven´t even tried all killers yet, but my favorite is by far the hag, followed by hillbilly/wraith.
-
I disagree. As solo player, often you are not healed by your teammates, unless they just unhooked you, then maybe. But taking a hit and running away?
I prestiged a char, and she didn´t get self care so far. Since i play mostly solo, i decided to farm bp with another char, and then use her when she found self care in the bloodweb, simply because after the first hit, i had no mither without benefit for the rest of the game, and it happend several times now.
-
And yet it is in contradiction with the post i replied to. Read that post, and you ´ll know why.
-
Game is more balanced for sure, but the matchmaking is broken and u wont find a match in less than 30 min MOST of the time.
Strange, when i play survivor, i only need one or 2 min...
-
I actually dont think self care is such a big problem.
IF i were to change something, i would change SWF, and make it an option you can Choose to accept. If you do (as a killer), you get some kind of Bonus. Additional BP for example, but better some ingame-advantage, like additional perk slots, or something else. Due to that, even solo player may join the swf-option, because they get a bigger challenge. I doubt that in an all-solo-player game without outside communication the advantages are that big.
-
Some killers got buffed, some survivor perks got nerfed, more people playing killer now that played survivor before. A worse killer/survivor ratio, so longer waiting times for killer. The rest is basic math.
-
Maybe that is because some adults belive manners matter.
Maybe you should rethink yours. -

What he said is still relevant.
The topic is disconnects, and someone gave a reason why survivors disconnect.
He replied to that. Then, you can either agree with the reasoning, or you can disagree with it, giving your own reasons why you belive the previous reasoning is false.Responding with: "but survivors do things killers don´t like too" is not relevant to the question he replied to.
It might be topicrelevant, if it is a reason why killers disconnect, but it didn´t seem it was intended that way. -

Like insta heal + DS or BNP before the nerf?
Oh wait, yes, I forgot. Only killers can be sweaty...
But 4 man SWF on mics are not sweaty at all.You know, your arguments get old fast, if you read them here time and again. The thing is: not everyone plays SWF, not all SWF are 4 player, and not all SWF use mics.
Sure, they exist, but their existence seems to be your justification to just use hollow phrases, instead of actually deal with the subject.
I never used ds, i never used instant heal, and i play 98% of my games solo.
Yet i be oneshoted due to addons, and i was moried time and again.
So your argument means what exactly?(dont get me wrong: i belive moris and oneshot-addons are actually just as fair as instant heal and ds, and it is ok to use them all, and i never disconnct other than due to my provider (what happens 0-3 times a day) i just have a problem with the consistancy and relevance of your argument).

@FrenziedRoach said:
And remember, I said it's PERCENTAGE based. That means if you only play a few times a month, you'll hit that threshold for a softban MUCH FASTER.That means, if you disconnect for a bad connection on your first game, you get an instant softban, because you are at 100% at once. Seems fair and userfriendly.
-
I thought the reward was a certain knowledge advantage, because you know the new killer, perks, and maps before most other people gain access to them.
-
And they are right, from the bp-pov. Because i like the stealthy way, i had games where i evaded the killer all game, did 3 and a half gens alone, killed a hex and some other totems, opened one exit, saved one or 2 hooks, and had the fewest points of them all. And that happens regularly, because being chased all day gives a lot of points.

I already read many threads about the Problems people have with playing a killer while having Problems with color seeing. Therefore I want to add another voice to it. My boyfriend has Problems with the colors Red and Green and it is almost impossible for him to follow the Red marks left by running survivors and I always have to guide him somehow but this do not work always. That's why I add a voice to the wish for a color blindness Mode!Just out of interest: Whose voice are you adding? yours or his?
-
The matchmaking is broken. Imagine a lvl 18 noob killer with just basic addons vs a swf group, where 3 of them have full access to ultra-rare items. you think that will help the newbie killer?
But even without swf, having rank differences occur quite regular. Your idea would put one fraction at a (greater than now) disadvantage right from the start.
-
Stealth is my favorite way to play this game. But i seldom encounter a killer who doesn´t have at least 2 aura-reading perks. My last game was against a nurse with calling, b&c, Whispers and Murmur...
Yeah, stealth brings you really forward in this game. The thing is: i can´t do chases very well, one of the reasons is i don´t loop. And juking only works 50% of the time, because juking is no secret unknown to killers.
So, should i just stop playing the game? Stealth is no real option against all those aura-reading perks, looping is an exploit, so what is a survivor supposed to do?
-
i never disconnect. But if i get caught, i might just end myself on the hook quite fast .
I do this when i think the game is a waste of my time, for example whena) we are down to 2 players, and still 5 gens need to be done, while we have an expert killer
b) 2 gens are done, and we have an expert killer. So the other guy might get the hatch.
c) some survivors show even at the begining that they dont care about their team, trying to hookfarm, bodyblock on puropse, lead the killer to you so he chases you instead (and you were already hooked). But over all, i think it happens in less than 5% of my games.
-
You are not banned for incompetence any way, or this game would have a lot less hookfarming.
Lack of judgement happens in this game, be it with unhookings, accidently body blocking a chased survivor (because you didnt realise where they are and you block the window), or just decide to blow the nearly done generator to distract the killer. It happens to me, but i only play for 2 months now. -
I think this is because the point system give no incentive to actually play as a team.
i had it sooo often: here is a hag, or the killer is close by, so you spent time crouching in to do a safe unhook (either when the killer leaves or not to trigger a hag-trap). But then someone from a little far away just rushes in, unhooks to get the points, and the hooked one gets downed again.Another time i found myself in a bear trap, and the survivor chased by the killer changed his course to come to me, so the killer would pick me as the easier target. I usually try to lure the killer away from other survivors, and i am really bad at chases.
Unhook points should be distributed to all players in the area (and the one that just distracted the killer), and survival points should not be done just for your own survival, but based on the number of survivors that escaped. Otherwise, a lot of survivors just play for themself instead of the team.
As for the claudette blocking the window: happend to my recently, and i was the claudette. sometimes you aren´t as aware of your surroundings as you should/would like to be.
-
But it makes me mad, and slowly might turn me into one of them. Because it always feel like a mistake to do constructive teamplay. And only stupid people don´t learn from mistakes.
-
The problem is: I do swf even without voice chat, because that way i can actually play the game as it is intended. If you play solo, often you play 3v1, because one disconnects in the loading screen, or at the beginning (giving you 5 gens to do with 3 survivors), or when dowend the first time.
Also, if its down to you and another one, you are not the looser because you try to do gens until caught while the other one hatchcamps, waiting for you to die.
Thats the reasons why swf is important in this game.
-
The thing is you dont know where you can go to, because you cant see him. So staying is just as good/bad as going away and running into him 50% of the time.
-
The problem are games like the 2 last i played as killer. at the end, i was accused of camping, but all 3 survivors were flogging around the hook. Where the heck should i go to catch survivors if they are all by the hook? And getting reportet for that? Seriously, if that option exists, people will misuse it.
Another survivor said he give me a bad rep on steam just because he was the last survivor, and i chased him, and managed to pick him out of the hatch... yeah, i am totaly sure noone would abuse a reporting system. -
If you invest enough lowquality items, you can turn them into ultra rare ones.
Thats is not recycling, that is upgrading.
Also, if we are just forced to buy them, why not give us a better choice in the first place? -
Are there any statistics on what percentage of players do actually play on this high ranks?
I would be intrested to know how many player are actually affectd by that imbalance in high ranks. -
You can only have 4 Perks in any game.
-
Yesterday, i lured the killer away from the hook twice so the survivor there could be safed.
Then, when it was down to only 2 of us, i was hooked for the first time, and the other let me die, sitting on the hatch, even though the killer was far away from the hook. I asked him why, and he told me because i played like a noob, and did nothing expect running from the killer.... -
And why would that be different when you have no ranking? because the killer might then play without rank, too.
-
Because you are supposed to play as a team, while now, solo players often play against each other.
I just had that situation again: one is on the hook (it was me in this case), one comes crouching in, because we play vs the hag, and she left some traps, and another one just rushes in to get the points themself, setting of the traps and i go down again. And thats just because he wanted the points, instead of someone else on the team. Does that sound like good teamplay to you?
Its all to promote teamplay.
-
It happend to me serveral times, mostly on games that were either really good and interesting, or basicly over in the begining, due to disconnects, or people just giving up when hooked for the first time.
I don´t expect it from a killer. In a good game, he deserved the kill. in a bad game, i just want it to end anyway.
Yet, that gift is appreciated. -
I agree, a simple option to switch the red auras to something else like in the bbq event would be very helpfull.
I think it has to be balanced, because the game lives about being able to overlook details, (if thats the case with hooks and gens), and you dont want to implement an unwanted advantage that way. -

Actually, just remove the extra bp for useing the hatch, and reduce the surving bonus if you do.
So hatch isn´t the preferable way to exit anymore. Also, to encorage teamplay, make the survial bonus reliant on how many survived, not just for yourself.
The pointdistribution in this game rewards selfish play, especially in cases of unhooking. I had games vs the hag where i crouched in to not trigger the traps, just to have another survivor rush in and unhook to get the points. of course the hag downed the hooked survivor again.I think thats the best, maybe only way to make people more play as a team instead of farming points just for themself.
-
So, tournaments are the real game?
Actually,i think it should be balanced to the majority of the players. And i belive the majority don´t play tournemants, but i might be wrong. The Problems i see: First of, the swf. They are op, especially when they have means of communication. If you balance the game for them, everyone not having that is lost anyway, and has no reason to play as survivor. Its hard enough as solo survivor as it is, because every 2-3 games you have one disconnect at the begining/first found/downed/hooked, and then the games is a 3v1 when you still have to do 5 gens. How do you balance that? (Maybe lose the killer one random perk per disconnect? But first, fix disconnecting by temp-baning the offenders)
Basicly, you need 2 Systems for swf, where the killer might be stronger, and solo survivors, which need a lower powerlevel.
I don´t think there is a way to balance that in one system.
Also, what is the killers goal in this? The devs say a 2kill game is balanced. Shouldn´t they easily get some numbers on how often those or better results happen to killers on each rank, and are those numbers availible? Because without them, we are just arguing about single personal events. Also, one of the problems is the Teamplay. The game actually dosn´t promote it.
as solo survivor, everyone is running for the hook to unhook someone and get the points. Luring the killer away should be rewarded too, because it gives the rest time to catch their breath, but if you do that, you have all the risk of being downed with no reward for that risk.bbq event was a good example. where everyone (that used the bbq coupon) shared points for each gen done. There should be a team reward for such actions to promote teamplay.
Please note that i am a fairly new player, and only play survior at rank 10 and killer at rank 13, so i have no experiance on the higher ranks, but i see what happens on the lower ranks, especially as a solo player (which i do 95% of the time, and i try to change that not because of the power of the swf, but because of the many disconnecters that leaves you at a disadvantage at the beginning of the game, and the many players just try to farm points instead of good teamplay.)
-
Well, the point to me is not too few points for survivors, the point is the distribution.
it is a team game to the survivors, but team play is not rewarded as it should.Hooking is a good example. 2 People run for the hook, one goes there first, and get all the points.
Sometimes, one has to lure the killer away, takes the risk of getting downed and hooked themself,
and the other one gets the high amount of easy points.the bbq-event was a good example. Points for gens, unhooking etc should be more teamefforts than personal achivements. so even if you distract the killer and get hooked (and left on the hook for some time) you get rewarded due to the teamprogress.
-
if it was an interesting good game, i usually do, even though i play solo 95% of the time.
If it was just the killer tunneling and camping, no need to watch that.
-

@Cass : it's when you spam Crouch :-)On PS4, I do it to say hello & goodbye to the other survivors (there is no chat).
i think on pc people told me to do it to get the united-bonus, because its broken?
i crouch a lot in the game, but never to insult the killer (although a killer has accused me for that, even if i didnt intent to do so, and i think i was only crouching. (migt be the united-bonus again). -
Oh yes, i forgot the maps. i play mostly survivor, and i dont use maps because they are useless to me.
-
The problem for me are not the scratch marks, the problem is i cant see the generator or hook outlines. During the bbq-event, i could see the bbq hooks quite well. Also, i never really saw a blood trail as a killer.
-
Well, as much as i dislike camping as a survivor, a lot of that depends on the team.
I do play killer as well (mostly to learn their weaknesses), but when i play killer, often you cannot not camp.
You hook someone, and notice 1-2 people crawling around the hook or rushing to it to unhook when you leave. Of corse i do chase those survivors instead of finding the last one somewhere else. Also, a lot of survivors dont unhook you for your sake, but for the points, which means often unsafe unhooks.
I had people unhooking me in front of the killer, then bodyblocking me so he could down me again.
