The hay bale from the left window you land on is wide enough that you can sit in the middle and be completely immune to non-ranged attacks. Vaulting the window as killer often loses chase and makes blocking it impossible, the survivor doesn't have enough stagger to slow them down so they can make it again without issue. Excuse my harshness here, who the hell thought that would be a good idea, and why do they still have a job with map design.

I recommend you just leave the loop immediately. That what i do when the survivor know about the hay bale. Eventually it get taken out again but into than you gotta deal with it. With that being said....it pretty lame. The fax that people telling u to vault the window is insane.

  • All of them but mainly because i feel it mandatory to know every killer inside and out. I try to play every killer at least once a week so i don't get to rusty with them. My main slinger, pig, nessmiss and trapper.

This was in the game before and got remove. Why they put back in tho? we will never know

I'm really looking forward to it as for me these events really kind of change the game up and make it a bit more exciting. Cosmetics are usually nice as well. Anyone have any other opinions?

I'm very hype. Hoping for some fun new mechanics like they did for the 7 year anniversary event. Still want some cosmetics of survivors cosplaying killers butt probably will never happen.

He is already bad. His only saving grace is snowballing, especially the basement. If he hooks around his traps, he needs to leave to prevent a free unhook. Anti-camp mechanic makes an already bad Killer worse.

You don't directly camp with trapper tho. you set up your traps and leave the area.

This will be a very simple post about the stats gathered from my last 120 games of DbD. it is not meant to prove anything.

I played 40 survivor games & 80 killer games in total.

In this case I can't really fathom why, though.

Instaheals and ganging up with 4vBNP on a gen are something ridiculous that falls into the "it was fun while it lasted, but it's good that it's gone" category, but facecamping isn't really an engaging playstyle.

The few times I pulled it of was more or less an act of desperation and always quite stressful for me. I vividly remember a Badham preschool match were all survivors played stealthy AF and they booked if as soon as they got a whiff of my terror radius. When I finally caught one of the pesky stealthers I camped then out, hook grapped one or the would-be rescuers, slugged them and somehow turned it around.

The survivors were very salty at that and accused me of whatnot "2k hours and you play like that. Harder uninstall the game", but really, in this scenario I would not have left that hook and gone roaming to be rewarded with 2 hooks, 4E and tbags at the gate with "ggez".

With the anti camping update there would have been actually nothing I could have done in that scenario, which is a bummer, but we will see if killer get any kind of compensation - not as a quit pro quo, but because killrates will surely suffer, once this hits live.

At other times I have camped mean or pesky survivors out of spite, I'll admit to that, and if they can now unhook themselves in my face, so be it. But overall I don't feel any urge to get as much camping done before it's gone. I am more concerned about the ways it will get abused and how much rougher matches will get, when survivors unhook themselves, because I know that someone is around, but no chase started and the bar is filling up mercilessly

Killers like huntress, Myers, and trapper confirm hook stages all the time. You will definitely see a tiny drop in the kill rates for such. Tunneling will just off set most of the damage tho.3 gen solution coming soon as well...

If you're not excellent in chase it might get bad pretty soon

You won't likely get far against Huntress doing this after the update. If the Huntress can aim you'll get hit once as you unhook yourself to deal with Endurance and then M1'd before you can get any distance. Guess it could still keep her from snowballing potentially as the rest of the team can just stay on gens.

Yeah she can still tunnel off hook well . was just mainly referring to her strong ability to deny unhooks. Making it mandatory for two people to come off gens for the unhook.

  • @ShErMaDeRmA said:

The uptick in camping just skyrocketed. I haven't had a single game all week where someone wasn't getting camped out halfway through the game, and half of them were camps from the start. The anti-camp can't come soon enough. People are camping like it's going out of style, but thank Mcote, it actually is

Not much time left. Man I'm sure gonna miss huntress climbing on mountain hills posing like Hercules. good times

Watch them somehow make the main building even stronger, make the shack window connect into a maze tile and increase the number of bushes by 5000, while adding more pallets to the street.

A good start for a rework would be to call it the "Garden of Misery". Joy is the last thing I experience when I load in on that map.

    True!

Despite loving both roles and the thrills they provide, personally I have to go with playing as Killer. The Killer may be difficult sometimes but even if all four survivors escape it’s still a match full of action and interaction. Playing as Killer feels like constant engagement.

Why do you prefer your favorite role?

i prefer survivor but play killer 60% of the time because i feel it mandatory to know every killer inside and out. Survivor is more intense/heart pounding but very frustrating (solo q things). killer more fun and having more control over the outcome will always feel better. My favorites are slinger, PH, & trapper. I'm a meg main forever tho.

First of all, the intention of this post is to explore and gain insights into this phenomenon that I am interested in. I ask you to share your experiences and give constructive feedback. Please be respectful to everyone <3

So, as we all are aware, I'm sure, female survivors in DBD are not just more popular than male survivors, but much more popular. I know that this is not a phenomenon exclusive to DBD, it exists in many other games as well. However, with this post I would like to gain an understanding on why that is so in DBD specifically. Cosmetics play a big role in this, so I would like us to take them into consideration, as well.

As far as I can think, these are the reasons that people might be preferring either male or female survivors:

    • who they can identify with, relate to, or connect with better
    • who they find more attractive, and therefore want to see on the screen
    • who has more interesting (beautiful, quirky, etc.) cosmetics available, as well as more cosmetics in the sense of quantity
    • who has gameplay advantage - in this case it's the female survivors, due to them being shorter and therefore having better potential for stealth, evading the killer, and (flashlight) saves on their teammates

Based on my experience of watching streamers, as well as other people I'm acquainted with, it seems that a person's gender identity and romantic/sexual interests don't play a major role in this, since any group of people tends to play as female characters.

I am a gay guy, and prefer playing as male characters, because I can both relate to them better, and also prefer seeing them on the screen. However it seems that most gay men prefer playing as female characters. This is what confuses me.

I would like to ask you readers, to give your perspective and understandings on this, on why female characters are that more popular than male ones. Both female and male characters are awesome and deserve love and popularity. And in order for me to able to promote male characters more, and accentuate their value, I need to understand what is causing this disproportional pick rate.

Thank you for reading! I hope that we can have a really nice discussion on this.

I pretty sure your second reason listed is the answer.

i slightly prefer playing male characters because im guy but it doesn't really matter. Meg and jeff my mains

Long story short.. hiding survivors.. the most boring players in dead by daylight.

they hear just the beginning of the heartbeat when you still 30 meters away and they already start walking and hiding somewhere..

killer is already boring for me and when i play killer and get that type of players it just takes away all my fun

and from now on im just gonna camp when i catch someone because there is no way at getting these babies out of their hiding spot.. seriously whats the point at going to the gen if they gonna hide anyways?

either i play boring too or just have a unfun boring game, or even better i just quit entirely with killer its not fun anyways i guess.

and these type of players are not only in my Killer games.

unpopular statement ; i love toxic survivors, chase hungry survivors.. atleast they dont make the game boring and you are constantly in a chase.. god i love you guys so much seriously.

Yeah stealthing away from the gen as soon as they hear the TR is boring but very strong for survivors. You don't got enough time to check behind every suspicious looking Rock. Just equip ultimate weapon or no where to hide.

I'm just thankful that the mata is actually got some variety right now on both sides

As a survivor, I took "Windows of Opportunity", "Any Means Necessary", "Empathy" and a med kit.

The killer took "Ultimate Weapon" (sometime even with "distressing") and counters 3 of my perks.

I got blind for substantial period, got no where to hide. The funniest part is when the killer took "'Sloppy Butcher", my med kit is gone when I scream ( of coz followed by the killer reaching my position and end me).

All the killer has to do is just moving around (don't even have to check the locker to activate). And I could only run around like a rat.

I wonder what game balancing mean to the developer. Is sale of just 1 killer weight so much for your team?

    Really disappointing about your team

Sorry to hear you not having a good time vs UW. All these new meta perks have muplite crazy effects. I'm just having fun with seeing the meta change on both sides. Yeah the power creep is kinda strong but that what u gotta do to change the perk meta.

or u can just nerf everything again which is kinda boring...

    Hello people of the Fog,

alas, the time has come, yet again, for me to ponder my Dead by Daylight and Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim journey and whether or not it should come to a close.

The game has weighed on me with the weight of a thousand pebbles but I have forced myself onward. I collect bloodpoints. I die. Occasionally I lie down on the floor for a few minutes and then die. Sometimes I finish a generator and die. Other times I give a fellow survivor a much needed back rub and then die. But death is not an escape, and so I am thrown into another trial to perhaps tempt fate and maybe, just maybe, against all odds, hear the rumbling of the exit gates and taste freedom with bated breath.

    Then, of course, I die.

The life of a survivor isn't an easy one when it's impossible to well, survive. And I think this is a trend that has been pushed for a long time, by the developers, so I don't want to see one of them coming in here and acting coy. You know what you've done. Medkits, for example. They take so long to heal with that I literally have to watch Family Guy funny moments on my phone to pass the time because I'm just so BORED. Almost bored to death. But death is not an escape, and so I put down my phone and continue, keeping Peter on in the background for company. He's the only one I can talk to, you see, as the developers adamantly refuse to add voice chat to the game (shocker) and my SWF abandoned me after I accidentally threatened to Blast Mine their home addresses. The survivor experience is not only boring, but lonely. Peter can only crack so many jokes before I start crying.

Then, obviously, you've got killers just playing like they actually want to kill you. One of them hooked me twice in a row the other day (the nerve) and another didn't let run past them to the exit gate after I'd pebbled them in the face. Like, where is this toxicity coming from? Both games I died, but death is not an escape, so I went into another game and one of these killers really wanted to ruin my fun and my day and my life and so they played Blight. Peter was gone at this point (my phone's battery had died and I really didn't want to have to get up and charge it) and so I was alone as my team were mercilessly mowed down (I assume that's what happened, anyway, because I immediately disconnected).

And people say killers have it rough. Made For This? No, survivors obviously aren't if they're getting killed so much. This game needs a serious overhaul. I know it's wrong to take sides, but when the developers add a killer who has LITERAL TUNNELLING built into his power you know it's gone too far.

I thought the Xenomorph was the straw that had finally broken the camel's back. I was... bamboozled. But, then, somehow, it got even worse:

You know Cybil Bennett from Silent Hill? Great character from a phenomenal game, especially now that she doesn't look like she'd be more likely to slip you crack than arrest you for possessing it. I bought her skin recently after beating Silent Hill and was abhorred at what I discovered. The Raccoon City 'police department' (no capital letters?) debacle was not enough. No...

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Y14AWBBDHNBA/screenshot-2023-09-20-095501.png

IT'S NOT "BRAHM'S", BEHAVIOUR. SHE DOESN'T PATROL THE TOWN OF BRAHM. IT'S BRAHMS. THAT'S THE NAME OF THE TOWN. IT SHOULD SAY "BRAHMS' POLICE SHIRT". SHE HAS SERVED THE TOWN OF BRAHMS WITH HONOR AND MERIT AND THAT DESERVES TO BE RECOGNISED, NOT ROLLED AROUND IN THE DIRT WITH THIS ABUSE OF PUNCTUATION!!

WHY IS IT ALWAYS POLICE DEPARTMENTS??? FIRST RACCOON CITY, NOW BRAHMS. NOT TO MENTION DESPITE KNOWING IT BACK TO FRONT RPD IS MY OWN PERSONAL HELL. I'VE DIED THERE COUNTLESS TIMES, BUT DEATH IS NOT AN ESCAPE

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/T9P9O57GXKTR/screenshot-2023-09-20-095522.png

HERE WE GO AGAIN. "BRAHM'S POLICE PANTS". IS BEHAVIOUR SUGGESTING CYBIL STOLE THESE PANTS FROM A PERSON CALLED BRAHM? (again, not entirely out of the question for the old version of Cybil, but this version? No way.) IT SHOULD SAY "BRAHMS' POLICE PANTS, BECAUSE THAT'S THE NAME OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT!!

    DISCUSS!

I think the trickster needs a little love, the changes to the lockers are good and help but he needs a buff on his 2 main problems The first is his speed when using his power, I think it does not deserve to be so slow, a change that they could make is that when using the knives he goes at 4.2 m/s and when he throws he goes at 4.0 m/s since it is too slow and the loops kill it unless they are in open places

Secondly, I think the wind should change. my 2 proposals are The trickster when using his power goes at 4.6m/s and when damaging the surv's speed boost is reduced The second is that when activating the main event the trickster can go to 4.6 during that time but the knives are no longer automatically thrown but must be thrown normally even if they damage you it applies a deep wound and destroyed effect, in addition to activate it all the survis shout for the presence of the trickster

Perhaps this sounds like a very strong change but the trickster at high ranks finds it too difficult to compete and there are perks that are used a lot to increase the speed of movement by the surv, at 4.4 it is difficult for them to hook the surv Also, as a console trickster with 200 hours, I can say that the main event of 10 games only uses 2 since it is an extremely situational power, plus his movement speed when using his poser makes him very slow in high loops found in 80% of the maps, it is not a hunter to justify its slowness and its poor motor control, it should be justified with a power in chase that is lethal, not situational. ps: sorry for my english

Yeah he to slow when running most loops with the knives up. I understand most killers slow down when pulling up their power but this man just take forever to down. Run the loop! 2 to 3 blades, run it again...1 to 2 blades, run again..finally you injure them. This is how every Jungle gym chase go with this man. Forever trap

Give him the cage heart shoes at base.

Firstly, I actually enjoyed the pressure the one hook mori provided as survivor. The need to approach the match cautiously and be wary of the Killer's presence until that knowledge was determined was an element I thought was well implemented as a survivor.

Secondly, I completely agree with playing as desired. Im not concerned with why some players complain as much as how the devs are responding to the complaints. While not every attempt to address certain issues have made it to live, some of the proposed solutions have been questionable. The saving grace to this has been ptb players quickly finding and calling out the exploits.

"Firstly, I actually enjoyed the pressure the one hook mori provided as survivor. The need to approach the match cautiously and be wary of the Killer's presence until that knowledge was determined was an element I thought was well implemented as a survivor."

simple change, you put a cooldown on it, say like during 40 sec after a obsession is unhooked your terror radius is reduced by x%

That could work but i might just be overthinking it completely. Probably would be fine to reduce the TR even outside of chase. A mid range killer with no lullaby could be the only slight issue (slinger or PH with range addons).

The only explanation is they don't understand the purpose of the perk or how it works, and think "increasing the values" will make it more useful.

It needs to apply the reduced Terror Radius outside of chase, that's it, That makes it a viable perk.

I'm guessing they don't want people like slinger or certain other killers to be walking around with a super low TR. Surely players would stack it with monitor and abuse.

Legion can't get around the map fast normally. If you spend the normal Frenzy going 5.2 for 10s, you only gain 6m. The fatigue slows you down to 2.07m/s for 3s, losing 7.59m of distance. Even with Mischief List, with 12s, you only gain 7.2m. Technically you can lunge at the last second to go net positive, but then you are down your power if they are healthy. Technically this is good if you are going for a corner gen that you know you'll have the injured Survivor cornered in, but it most often loses you distance/time, especially if they have medkits with 99'd heals and they catch on to Frenzy for Mobility.

Clown is slightly better at power for Mobility (with exclusive Yellow Bottles) than Legion, as the fatigue equivalent, the reload, isn't required. You can pressure the gen, then take the reload when they are cornered, and cancel early to get a free hit if they try to hold W instead. Clown also gets 9.2m of distance with the basekit 4 Yellow bottles with ~9m lost in a reload (without Yellow duration, extra bottle, or reload adjusting add-ons).

TL:DR Clown is better at map mobility than Legion, and add-ons shift it further into Clown's favor.

Well you clearly know all the exact numbers so I'll take your word for it.

Yes, he can teleport to a gen once in a while, but thats no major part of his kit, its not like Demogorgon or Dredge, where he is all over the place, but every couple of minutes he can try a teleport. It feels like a relic of a forgotten time, when things were much different.

    good point

He can't even teleport that often and the teleport super slow giving survivors plenty of time to just leave

And why not use Calm Spirit? This is exactly what a living (not set in stone) meta is: new stuff becomes strong and gets regularly encountered, thus customising options that were subpar before become a counter and edge into the meta. Its a give and take that should keep things theoretically moving, but in DBD a lot of players seem to be adverse to the idea of not using the strongest possible build and hate the idea to divert one spot on the perk loadout to counter or deal with a meta choice that the other side most likely will employ... maybe not every match, but he majority. I think its this "I want value each match from mu perks, otherwise its subpar/uncool/unfun" thinking, that drives a lot of push towards nerfs instead of adapting the loadout.

Of course, some perks are indeed busted and in need of a change, and Ultimate Weapon is really, really strong, but it also gets 100% countered by a perk that's not meta right now.

When survivors started playing a lot of Adrenalin after the medkit nerf I started to make room for Terminus, a subpar perk in most cases, but in the Adrenalin meta it saved the day and pulled its weight exceptionally. During the DH meta there were all kind of builds that tried to counter it, it was just that oppressive (Septic Touch to Hysteria and Blood Echos ... here were all kind of builds just to counter DH). And now with MFT to prevalent I see myself using that +5% speed perk from the Alien more and more. I just wished that it got a bit more uptime, 10s is really a very short window, BUT it's often enough to punish cheeky MFT users and I have it equipped on a lot of killers.

Terminus, Repid Brutality, Ultimate Weapon and STBFL or DMS seems to be rather meta on my side, a far cry from the PainRes/Eruption/Pop/NowhereToHide kick meta.

    @Akumakaji said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3543497#Comment_3543497

Actually... I want aware of this. I really thought that Calm Spirit was the hard counter. I stand corrected ... but my other piece about people being unwilling to move the meta still stands.

"but in DBD a lot of players seem to be adverse to the idea of not using the strongest possible build and hate the idea to divert one spot on the perk loadout to counter or deal with a meta choice that the other side most likely will employ"

Half the time (air quotes) "the counter perk to the meta" are usually terrible. Shatter hope for co2... Repress Alliance for the gen kick era... blood echo against old dh was a thing....Run blindness perks to deal with windows of opportunity.... :)

It's the meta for a reason! Strong and hard to counter. Just cause a perk counter another dosen't mean it wroth running. Calm spirit is toliet water at best. You better off running meta perks.

Xeno is definitely A tier, the map traversal alone is very strong and having the tail always threaten a vault/pallet drop is extremely good.

However my pet peeve is that instead of just fixing the no slowdown bug, they went ahead and fixed the bug + nerfed it from 2ms to 1.2ms.

Nobody even had time to "test" the 2ms as intended.

Tbh, i feel like if atleast LANDING the hit granted you the 2ms or a faster recovery it would encourage skilled play opposed to forcing the tail into just anti loop.

Map traversal mean nothing if your time to down is bad. fready, legion, dredge, etc can all get around the map fast and none of them are crazy good. The bulk of your time is spent catching a survivor while looping not getting to areas. His anti loop still strong but i wouldn't call A tier just yet.

What do you guys think about removing/reworking map offerings I personally think that they should be in this point reworked to work in the way that you are no sent on specific map. I want to know people opinions on this topic because today I played around 20 games as a killer and 14 out of 20 matches I was sent to specific map to be bullied or survivors to take advantage of that map but I play survivor too and all of my survivor games there was no offering brought. That's all let me know what do you think about that

    you never see midwich again

  • almost never happen when I'm playing survivor. Happen about once every 20 games when I'm playing killer. It always when u winning

  • Ultimate Weapon kinda destroy any chance at hatch if the killer wanna slug for the 4k. Overall i like this new meta perk and it very evil in a few builds.
