Ok and like, is this an issue with sadako? She can also spam tvs. Is this an issue with nurse? She can also blink immediately after the cooldown is up. Is this an issue with wraith? He can also go invisible whenever he wants. Is this an issue with ghost face? He can also stealth as soon as the cooldown is up.

That's what a cooldown is, it prevents you from spamming it.

The fact that you want his cooldown to be nearly triple just shows you have no idea what you are talking about.

I would highly recommend watching Scott's video on this where he explains the counterplay:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJi8dVgBnec

The fact that you are boiling the counterplay down to "just crouch" shows exactly the problem here because that isn't the counterplay, not exactly anyway.

I just watched because I do enjoy Jund videos

1:19 "Alot of people dont even know that you can crouch to avoid that internally ….. That should be the for front of counterplay"

2:40 "Jason matches are gonna be longer" there is a fundamental disagreement I think. I don't want 20 min long matches in dbd and really confusing to me to be advocating for this with how Killer ques can be is this the reason why killer que be 10 mins in my region atm?

3:45 - onwards : "go away far away from any active generators" Yes and have a crouch off because the killer is not leaving OE until he can chase someone away from prime gens? are we really encouraging this sort of gameplay.

"other people in better spot can go work on a the gens if they get hooked or chased off still in a better spot" No? Chased off is more stalemate but what if they get hooked inside the gen placement (back corner of main tricksters delusion as a example) that is a way worse spot then before now the people who are now in a worse spot have to go deep into the prime zone to get the only person who can do gens (using scenario of "even if just one person is on gen" )

This is same defense used for v1 skull merchant. "what's was wrong with V1 skull merchant you can slowly progress the gens like that one comp team in a hens video did one time"

I agree with scott overall when Jason are commiting to chase and not staying in one spot, this does not address Jason's whos pick a prime spot around certain gens and totems and will just stay there.

if that cooldown was like I don't know 30 seconds I think my point would be a null point and scotts argument to how to counter would be valid as survivors are given time to do things without him going right back into OE after chasing someone off (I know 12 seconds)

But as it is currently I don't see a reason why OE cooldown cant be longer. do more spear play and chase it'll come back in no time, we could even refresh the cooldown after a hook to reward chase if it really is such a big deal to extend it.

I think OE is fine its the abusable part of it that isnt, you can like you said abuse ruin with it or you can spam deputy badge forcing way more than the 5% progress loss it inflicts already.

Imo remove mist on totems and nerf deputy badge is the things he needs the most if any changes are to go through.

I could see them changes potentially working. I still worry about potential to still spam OE in one area of map for most of game only coming out to chase people off gens but would not be opposed if they where the first changes to see if that does fix his OE issues.

Thats the only thing she has they are not the same its silly to compare.

Sadako is also not going around with a spear its like the only part of her kit basically. Survivors can take the tape too turn the Tv off for a whole 70 seconds If she teleports too it its turned off for 45 seconds. (Jason's 12 seconds looking small rn)

Nurse has her own balancing issues but I really don't see why we are comparing. She is not going invisible.

Wraith has sound ques when he is nearby and cloaked. Jason has no ques he is near you in OE.

Ghostface can be seen and is not going straight up invisible?

Bruh this is really just false equivalencies and i hope anyone who plays can see how silly it is to compare Sadako teleporting to tvs to Jason OE.

Edit: I landed on 30 seconds because Henry upside down ability is comparable to OE in some ways, at least more then Sadako tvs are.. Also why are we needing to go into OE so often anyways. I feel like if we are at least attempting to chase with the chase part of his kit 30 seconds is not that bad. If henry had a 12 second long cooldown I'm sure some players would also be in upside down mode most of the match.

What proposed nerf would you suggest? And how is someone spamming something with a 12 second cooldown. You realize that MOST killer powers have a cooldown between 0-15 seconds right?

And how is someone spamming something with a 12 second cooldown

They are spamming it as in some matches the Jason will go in and out of power as soon as that 12 seconds is up.

When the counterplay to that is meant to be crouching how are we expecting the survivors to get anything done when someone is playing like that. combine that with the hex ruin and thrill every Jason has been running who is being what I dub a "OE spam Jason" because they set up around their totems and gens. and due to the nature of OE where you have no idea where he is (unlike Spirt, Henry, Wraith) Survivors have not choice but to crouch around or be seen.

I had one Jason match today where he had 4 gen at tricksters demise main with a totem and he just never left that area, chasing people who would go into it but then running back to it in OE if you chased away from it. Its plays like old v1 SM and why I've seen some people compare him to her.

What proposed nerf would you suggest?

I think a cooldown around 30 second cooldown would be a good change to try (around the same as Henry upside down cooldown)

( I initially wanted way less info in OE but don't wanna punish Spear play Jason's who are not OE spamming )

You realize that MOST killer powers have a cooldown between 0-15 seconds right?

OE is not his entire power he has a spear / range part of his kit. Spears are by no means a weak part of his kit and seen some very good plays been done with spears (I don't wanna touch spear part of kit)

  • @Akron said:

Lmao at all the downvotes for saying I like Jason as he is, I get it y'all don't like him. That's completely fine, so lets just wait for BHVR to give him the Kaneki treatment. Nerf him like everyone is so politely and reasonably demanding, and he probably won't even drop a tier or anything... assuming BHVR doesn't go overboard that is. Either way he's still gonna be a great killer with a fun projectile and good mobility.

I mostly play survivor too and agree with most of what your comment said about the spear / chase is really fun to verse and I've been enjoying it as well. but you said in comment he is fine as is which I don't agree with. (I didn't downvote for record)

I think OE needs changes and how some Jason players are using it is not healthy for the game.

I agree in some aspects that the others are good for overall slugging. However the problem is that forced hesitation forces survivors into really unfortunate lose/lose situations. Examples being:

    1. Slugged survivor gets picked up in front of killer without wglf, they instantly go down then the second survivor gets two tapped. And if they don't pick up the survivor that is possibly minutes off of their life if they are being camped in a 3 gen as there is zero slugging anti-camp.
    2. It also is surprisingly great for tunneling as if a survivors teammate is forcing themselves to be downed the injured survivors gets hindered.
    3. Amazing snowball potential especially on certain killers as being up is significantly more dangerous than it would be otherwise.

Forced Hesitation is really just made in such a way that it couldn't create a healthy gameplay loop without a rework.

I just think the perk alone is not a issue.

Secnario 1 forced hesitation should not be proxing because it has a timer, unless the killer is camping the body but the survivors should be just doing gens then imo. one person is likely to bleed out sadly but could be done without perk imo

I had a match similar to that with a bubba stood on a Steve after downing him, team did gens and Steve was only one who died, Steve just stayed in one spot rather attempting to crawl to pallet or somewhere we can attempt pick up. (all tho he was in dead area so argument can be made to just leave him get out)

Scenario 2 is more of a issue with tunneling imo, could be resolved by making fresh unhooks immune to debuffs for a very short period to avoid that scenario at a unhook

Scenario 3 I see it as value in a perk. It only has a 16m radius so it only punishing people who are grouped up unlike infectious and cloura which are terror radius based, along with a cooldown period so people have the chance to be picked up if they are slugging. it also does not reveal so if survivors are not just all out in open no info on where they are without other perks.

I can really only see it as a issue on twins but I think that's a issue with twins rather then the perk.

  • @pidgeon said:

infectious and coulrophobia are fine honestly the only one I have a problem with is forced hesitation

I feel like forced hesitation is only made really good because of infectious. without infectious you just get the hindered which is only helpful if you have location on others.

Infectious x forced hesitation gives aura reading and the hindered so you can just go to exact location and bonk them while hindered with the high mobility killers.

Forced hesitation also has a cooldown vs infectious which has none.

  • For anyone still having this issue I would recommend doing a support ticket. they seem to have automated message about this issue so its known x

    image.png
  • I think Infectious Fright is the perk is more of a issue. combos with coulrophobia on high mobility killers due to big terror radius causing the slug builds.

Would change Infectious Fright first before looking at coulrophobia changes.

  • I think it would be fun and love the idea, I worry about balance tho.

even if hitboxes are the same, visually their would be things you could be hidden behind that a average height would not be able to hide behind without crouching.

  • I think OE is the worst part of his kit to verse I personally like the spear but regards to OE

Like you said they can slow down the match so much if survivors are doing the counter of crouching I've gotten crows once myself and its like "wut I'm waiting for Jason to come out of OE"

I honestly not sure what would be the best change, less info (I've argued for KI removed since PTB) or a longer cooldown / timer on how long he can spend in OE so people who where not spamming it and tryna do more spear play are not punished with less info.

I may be outlier, but I enjoy versing Jason, its just the folks that play him a certain way using OE for info to protect gens and totems (a lot of ruin and thrill) rather then spear chase that make him really boring in them cases sadly. I think toning down the OE part of his kit would make people enjoy versing him more.

edit :wanted to add, i don't know if a bug or not seems inconsistent but sometimes I scream even when I'm crouched because I'm moving, like do really have to crouch their not moving at all.

  • Mine was still not working after waiting a day so just did a support ticket.

Jason feels like a chess killer to me; I'd rather play Skull Merchant 2 again aka Clown 2.

Yeah that's a good way to explain how some Jason players are playing him with OE sadly.

  • I notice some bots are good, meanwhile some seem be a lil special.

Like ive seen a bot be able to hold out in chase, on the other hand sometimes the bot will get hit, waste all of the haste from hit just to go straight down.

Genuinely wonder if its based on hidden metric or something.

  • I think next bug fix we will see adjustments.

  • I saw in another thread with a reddit comment saying its intended for calm spirt not to work.

    image.png
  • I think its a issue of the player not the killer.

Hear me out but I have a lot of fun versing the chase part of Jason, dodging spears and deciding when you should extract and take slowdown or just continue with it in you.

It gets boring when he is constantly in OE and not comitting to chase rather going back into OE like a hit and run wraith. some Jason matches have been getting to 20 min mark for me which is a real drawn out match imo.

  • Yeah mine don't work either

    image.png
  • I have no objections to adding First person as a new game mode, but would not personally play as third person pov is to integral to the survivor role for me

  • Would this be map wide, when in chase, or a certain radius from the person using haste?
I worry perks like fixated would be ruined for stealth because if its a radius they will just get called out by a perk pop u because of haste when walking.

Would this also include showing killer haste to survivors?
Perks like devour hope, no ed, PWYF

I'd be happy with aura read instead of KI, frankly, but for how much elusive there is in the game to make basekit worthless by default. Perhaps having the red fog linger slightly after OE ends and discarding OE?

I think a basic scream without KI would be fine, That way you are still getting a loud noise notification, If someone brings calm sprit that should be like a niece counter play (like fixated with sprit can be) ,lockers should also work. while crouching is still there to avoid screaming otherwise and would still be used to avoid footsteps.

Crouching doesn't reveal you with KI. That's literally the counter for it. Crouching makes you immune to the jump scare and the reveal and scream are tied to that.

My point is he does not need KI regardless of how crouching works, Why does he need KI for tracking?

I don't see any good reason why he has KI especially base kit KI. would have less of a issue if it was a ad on, like spirts cherry blossom

Crouching still has a use in countering him without KI so imo KI is just overkill on a killer I do find fun versing in other aspects of his gameplay. Just don't know why KI is needed for him.

That isn't what you said. I can't regard or respond to things you did not say. You didn't say he doesn't need killer instinct on survivors in lockers you said he doesn't deserve to be the only killer who does so. I gave examples as to how that is patently false. I'd invite you to test it as your leisure, but KI does trigger on locker bound individuals. I said it was poor faith because the examples you cited do not trigger KI.

The only name I called you was 'saucy minx' but go off queen.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4089291#Comment_4089291

I wouldn't argue that. KI is a poorly built mechanism and it feels like an excuse to permit bypasses on killer generations. "I want X to see through Y" "But we can't do that, they have N aura blocker!" "Well, use the new fangled thing that let's them see them anyway!" etc. KI should really be decomissioned as it's just lazy building.

KI should really be decomissioned as it's just lazy building.

Agree with that, when doing other comment realized its not even mentioned in "Learn to play" anywhere, not even in passing in the "avoid being detected" section or any of the "hunting" chapters for killer. definitely could be decommissioned.

  • Wait they removed NOED reveal? that was such a healthy change 😑

I did read the post, and my statements stand, you saucy minx.

KI Pre-dates Jason, you weren't here decrying the war crime of KI before this. Jason is not the 'ONLY' as you all caps commented, killer who can do this. He hasn't been for a long, long time. Doctor's static blast is not a KI trigger, nor is Dracula's teleport, they are irrelevant examples. Spring Trap exiting a door isn't either. Those examples are all poor faith.

Xenomorph exiting a tunnel actually does do what you are talking about which is why I find it utterly hilarious that you used an example that does exactly what you said it doesn't do. You said 'people would be complaining out the wazoo' about it, but here we are. I can provide you instructions on how to backpedal if you would like.

I'll include below a list of other KI triggers so that you can add them to the list of things you are going to use to come at people on the internet with this weird indignant vibe you've cultivated. I've bolded the ones that are most likely to detect you in a locker.

Legion - Feral Frenzy on Hit (any survivor)
Demogorgon - Of the Abyss teleporting
Artist - Being within vicinity of flying crows

    Onryou - Being fully condemned
Dredge - Anyone within X distance of a locker (how topical)
Xenomorph - Exiting a tunnel when a survivor is near (including in a locker)
Dracula - Performing a rushed action while Dracula is in wolf form (including rush entering a locker)
Ghost Face - Night Shroud Revealing
Pyramid Head - Any contact with torment trails
Twins - Any survs walking, running, or in the dying state around Victor
    Nemesis - Use of Vaccine
    Pinhead - Lament Configuration solving
    Wesker - Use of Spray
Knight - Entering dying state from a guard
Skull Merchant - Being scanned while wearing a claw trap
    Singulariy - Biopod removal
Lich - Being hit by dispelling sphere or downed by flight of the damned
Houndmaster - Anyone detected by dog in search mode

Dredge Killer instinct is only used in the nightfall phase of his power tho isn't it?

  • I feel like killer instinct part of the power needs to go I've said that since the Ptb. Kit is good enough on its own it don't need Killer instinct on survivors for tracking.

Yeah you can just crouch, but why get punished for using a game mechanic meant for stealth that is honestly under used.

Was looking at other killer instinct conditions most fall under different conditions (eg direct interactions with killer items or power, not passive for most)

The closest one is Xenomorph who has a counterplay in his power which is the turrets, hes not spawning on recourses and he comes in and out of a tunnel.

Jason on the other hand can stay in power pretty easily (every Jason I've versed has had no problem getting repeated spears) and he can spawn right next to you in a area that may only have the one recourse he spawned at and can basically can get a m1 by the time you know hes their because you have no time to get to anything, or spear you deeper into the dead zone. he does not need killer instinct on top of that.

I can understand this. I can also understand lobby dodging to an extent. I mean I'll sometimes dodge a lobby when I load into a lobby of 4 people with 3-5k hours all with flashies and <3's in their name. I just don't wanna deal with it. But I do agree that maybe you should be locked into that lobby when you load in or maybe you're allowed to leave within the first 5-10 seconds and then after you can't leave the lobby.

Yeah i can understand why folks do it too, I just really want it to penalize the people who abuse it over and over dodging mutiple times until they find a lobby they like, not so much people who will do it rarley every now and then

They could just make it so it backfills from the correct bracket. I'm sure that very possible.

But I'm pretty sure the inconsistency has to do with more than that, when there's a system revolving solely around escapes and kills.

I worry doing it that way will just lead too continuing of dodging but now people who dont dodge will be forced to wait longer in lobbies as it backfills for the correct bracket (and if its same dude we gotta wait longer as person dodging can freely shop for lobby)

I think the only way to fairly make the issue stop is to lock people into the lobbies, or penalities for agreesive dodging (repeatedly doing it over and over) so people still have a freebe for genuine reasons but cant abuse it without penalty. OR remove killer info from lobby so they cant see oppenents but i know thats unpolular take.

I dont think its the main reason but think its a pretty major reason that is offten overlooked. i dont think it even gets the chance to work correctly in alot of matches due to dodging and if it goes unchanged when MMR rework happens thoes matches will continue to have issues and people will still complain about the MMR

Yeah I thought it got thicker when you crouched too. Only tell I can find is when hes spawning in. (oooh grass missed that tell but yeah map dependent sadly)

  • matchmaking and MMR rework needs to come with anti lobby dodging or it just wont work.

They have said in the past the killers leaving the lobby causes the matchmaking to prioritize filling the spot, why I suspect a lot of people have inconsistent matches or are in lobbies that they should not be in.

I think its map dependent. some maps just have like one loop near the gen, if Jason spawns at it you kind of have no where to go and you get hit does feel kind of boring (unless there is another tell rather then him spawning in) vs some maps that have two loop options near the gen so if Jason spawns at one just run to the other.

I don't know about you but if I'm getting my 3rd or 4th ghoul match in row I will just dc and take the penalty.

That's what you sign up for when you hit ready up.

the game has 42 that can be picked from

The game has 42 options on paper, but very few of them are actually consistently played. Because of that the effect of being able to block 1 Killer is not going to be evenly spread across the 42 — resulting in some Killers becoming unplayable due to long queue times.

That's what you sign up for when you hit ready up.

All tho i don't entirely agree, its dead by daylight not ken by daylight. that's why I'm fine taking the penalty in this situations because I would rather take a penalty then verse ken repeatedly back to back. would not have a issue if it was something like ken, blight, nurse, blight but sometimes at peak times Ill get ken, rize, rize., ken where I just sick of it and dc give the team a bot.

Why I like this idea or a killer repeat prevention just to mitigate the issue of getting the same killer back to back outside of new releases.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

No. The queue times this would lead to would be unacceptable.

the dc penalties are quite strict and punishing

The DC penalty system is already loose enough to accomodate for occasionally needing to leave a match for IRL reasons. The first time you don't even get a penalty, and then the next one is only like 5 minutes.

maybe people can just blacklist Ghoul so they stop complaining about him

Disliking a Killer is not a valid reason to leave a match. Accessibility issues are one thing — this is entirely different.

  • I like this Idea. If it made my que time longer I wouldnt care in the slightest.

Also I would rather survivors blacklist a killer they don't want to verse rather then just giving up when we do get that killer.

I would def use this for ghoul if it was a feature, sometimes at peak times you are getting 3 or 4 ken, rize, rize, ken.

I think it should be only 1 killer block for SWF. if you in a SWF you have to agree on the killer you want to blacklist (or maybe go off host of lobby) being able to just block 4 killers is too much. 1 killer would be very welcomed tho, their a 42 killers. the game is not going to break because I am able to blacklist one. and if a tone of survivors are blacklisting one killer to the point they cant get matches, that kind of says there is a issue with THAT killer that should be changed.

IMO if you can run the game at least 60 fps currently (pc users at least) you should still be able to play with the option of lower graphics settings in the future with around the same frames as you had before. I get 120 on low and worried these updates will tank my FPS.

Now for people who are currently playing on 20 fps and complaing are not the majority of complaints. Most people just want proper optimization and advanced graphical options so lower end users can better optimize the game for their rig. current in game graphic settings are so basic.

But they need to come with optimization or not at all. Other companies are able to optimize their games, Especially a older game from 2016 who have tons of people playing on lower end hardware they need to consider that.

You can have stunning looking games that can still run or be adjusted for lower end pcs / hardware.

Helldivers has so much more going on but I'm able to still run it at low setting, with current dbd optimization afraid anyone without a good pc or next gen just wont be able to run it at all.

Outlast trails is another one that looks good, but can still run on lower end pcs.

Elden ring is another game that works for me on lowest settings, and still looks good and gives option to go higher settings, while also maintaining low setting options.

DBD is not the sorta game that needs to be gate kept behind high end hardware.

Any major graphical overhaul to DbD NEEDS to come with the ability to individually toggle the quality of different elements: shadows, global illumination, effects, post processing, etc. It's the only way to improve the visual fidelity of the game without alienating large swathes of players on low end or previous gen hardware.

Games like the Outlast Trials are able to provide modern visuals while still running well thanks to their optimisation and scalability — DbD should be able to aswell.

One of the biggest — and most overlooked — contributors to DbD's success is its relatively low hardware requirements, and I really hope they recognise that with the upcoming visual updates. What they previewed looks incredible, don't get me wrong. But if the average DbD player cannot run it, then what is the point? I'm hoping with how long they'll be working on it, they'll be able to strike a good balance between visuals and performance.

Yeah outlast trails looks amazing and runs amazing on my pc. great game for low end pcs that still looks good.

Of course, I never said they shouldn't consider lower end systems, as well as consoles.
It LOOKS pretty, but they really need to prioritize optimizations, especially when we consider how demanding UE5 is to run

Oh yeah I def think it looks good too, why I worry about performance 😂

I play DBD on a potato PC (a super old office PC with a low end graphics card from a decade ago). But even on such ancient hardware the game as it is currently runs just fine.

I personally don't care for fancy looking models or animations because DBD is not that kind of game to me, though I do understand that the game has to eventually move with the times to stay relevant and to attract new players. But there's no way in the Entity's realm that any of those gorgeous looking weather effects are going to run on my crappy PC or my OG Switch. Is this a sign that the end of DBD on Switch is maybe only a year or two in the future (I assume a Switch 2 version that can do all that jazz is in the works)?

Same here i get consistent 120 on low, some updates cause fps to chug but tends to rebound. I say its more poorly optimized Just compared to how well other games can be optimized I have played. (some updates had fps issues but where fix fairly quickly eg rework Freddy dream world)

worry these changes will tank FPS signifgently , and with current settings we get in the game no way to try to improve FPS leading to no good way to play the game anymore for me. 🙁

New changes are probably gonna make console lag 10x worse than it already is

I'm curious how the switch will handle it tbh 😂

The texture and animation updates looks amazing though

Yeah but lower end systems need to be considered.

more advanced graphic settings would help with that as currently the graphic settings we get in game are so basic.

That way lower end users have more options to turn things down.

  • Yeah same reason I'm cautious because what if they just give a character I like a goofy aa voice.

  • Split ques are the new norm we have to get used to that why I suspect devs adding features such as play as you wait.

    Anniversary event
shuffle / Lights out event soon after probs
    then probs another 2v8

The thing that ruins MMR of lobbies way more is lobby dodging imo.

I have never dodged a lobby, if I had to leave, I needed to leave for a good reason, I actually dodged a cheater once cuz of the discord username, queue times are quite long now (was like 30 seconds before 2v8 and now it's like 5 minutes after 2v8 which is annoying, 5 minutes is basically half of what an average game lasts), Idk what killers you get but I don't think killers dodged many games like you cannot know if they dodge cuz you are on pc or cuz of the anon.

Its just anecdotal from my own experience, the lobbies that tend to have killers shuffling in and out of them nowadays are either PC lobbies or lobbies with multiple anon users.

  • i hard agree here, oceanica servers have been suffering alot last few months at peak times.

matches where everyone is 180 -250 ping. I worry for aversery event when bunch of folks may come back too high ping lobbies
