I'm rank 1 survivor (solo survivor btw, I don't play SWF), rank 5 killer and I find survivor much more easier and relaxing than killer; much more easier to pip, lots of second chances; decisive strike, dead hard, unbreakable and I always know I might get the hatch or the exit gates.
Playing survivor is more fun and relaxing, but I I think playing killer is more interesting. I would probably be a killer main if the game had better map design.
Yeah I’ve already started noticing certain maps are much easier. Damn cornfields are a nightmare and the asylum loops, which I love as survivor....not so much as killer.

Why is the discussion seemingly so one sided on this subject? The overwhelming majority of unfun strats being criticized belong to killers (tunneling, camping, ect.) and survivors don't get scrutinized for their cheesy tactics (gen-rushing, infinite looping, etc.).
Survivors still hold much of the power in match outcome, so why aren't they called out for sticking to god windows or clutching their keys and instaheals? It is the role difference? What gives killer an unspoken rule book that survivors seem to easily dodge?
Well both sides have their #########. Everyone wants to win, some will do whatever it takes.

It's only been a week that you played killer. Do you expect to be amazing as killer in a week? Cuz I sure didn't become amazing in a week. Same goes for survivor. It takes time to develop your own flow as killer. You've played survivor this whole entire time, which helps you as killer since you will know the tricks of the trade that survivors do. You'll even discover more survivor tricks playing killer that you might not have known!
At the moment, matchmaking is pretty messed up so you will get matches that have high disparities in ranks, which are very unfair. However, take the losses as learning experience and see how you can do better in the next trial. I've faced very toxic groups of survivors, but I have found that 90% of them are overly altruistic, so use that to your advantage. Is ruin necessary? I don't think it is if you can keep constant pressure towards the survivors. Yeah, they might finish 2 or even 3 right away, but the match it isn't over yet. Usually a 3 gen scenario happens which works in your favor.
Experiment with different perks and builds for different killers. Hag is a very strong killer that can have complete map control if you play her right. I'm actually glad she's underrated because she can be a complete nightmare to survivor.
Yeah I’m enjoying it but frustrated as well, like when I started survivor. I also get a lot of dcs as hag but then will meme with who didn’t dc so everyone gets points.

I usually take a step back and then swing as they’re in front of me or if your sensitivity is at 100 then you can actually spin with them and still hit. The first thing I said works better. :)
Btw, what killer are you playing? I might be able to give you some advice. :)
Hag for now. I wanted to unlock ruin as a teachable. I play on ps4 if that matters.

I play both at red ranks, killer is too easy in my opinion. At least compared to survivor. The hitboxes are very insane with how the servers are right now. So many hits that shouldnt hit...
I found as clown and spirit I got a ton of hits that surprised me. With hag, not so much.
-
I have enjoyed my killer run and plan on keeping at it. It’s a nice change from gens and sneaking around.
How do I get better at attacks? They run and then turn right at me and I miss. I manage to get them eventually but I’m pissed off by that point. Am I missing something?
-
I did and likely won’t again. The serum seems worthless and I guess I don’t understand the point. I love the archives but the pass and rift are sort of lame.

I played 1 month with spine chill, and I realize after 1 month that spine chill is bad.
It doesn't fit with my gameplay, and is a perk for blind people (lol)
Once you have some good hours on the game you can use your ears and eyes to predict where the killer is coming from, is just a waste slot for me.
Still, see some people saying "spine chill is S tier" lmao.
It’s gotten more useful with all the stealth killers being played. Wraith and ghost face especially.

Played a match on some farm map with Spirit (the one with the weird horn thing in the middle that has an infinite loop, ugh) and got 2 kills and a black pip. In the post game chat, one of the people I killed says I tunneled them. I'm super confused because I didn't tunnel anyone. I chased everyone just about equally except maybe the Dwight (this person was a Meg). They berated me, then said the game is KILLER SIDED. I check their profile - 144 hours in the game lmao. I just needed to share the luls because this was one of the most ridiculous conversations I've ever had in post game chat, and that is saying a lot.
I told them I'd post so here it is. So what do you think guys? Is the game more survivor sided or killer sided? Personally I think it is in its best state ever but at higher ranks it is 100% still more favorable to survivors. Killers capitalize on mistakes and if survivors are super optimal and don't make any, the killer cannot do anything about it even if they play perfect.
It seems that way if all you play is survivor. I’m a survivor main and this week decided to go killer. Well, it’s a chore and survivors piss me off. I never play toxic with my group and had no idea survivors were this assholish.
-
I’d say no but I’ve done it to the ones who gave me a super tough time, tea bagging, blinding me repeatedly back in day.

It waaas a loooong time ago.
It was a pretty rough day and I got tunneled for 8 matches in a row.
Then I face a Micheal Myers. He stalked my teammates ,and the moment he saw me for the first time he popped Tier 3 Evil Within.
Not toxic at all,but you know, this got me really upset 😂
Then I vault a window ...and do you know what happens? I get TELEPORTED back to my original position (before vaulting the window) Myers gets close enough and moris me with his ultra rare addon.
I just turned off the Ps4; I couldn't be bothered to play again that day XD
Damn. I’ve had days like that too. Where my gaming is literally cursed.
-
Meyers is only killer who scares me. I hate/love playing against him. Ghost face players are usually younger and more annoying. That’s been my experience.

I still don't understand this idea that balancing around high-level play makes low-level players unable to enjoy the game. Many games do this successfully; what makes DBD unable to do that?
Well think about it. You get a survivor main who dumps points into a certain killer, leveling them up without playing them. Then they start playing at rank 20 killer, but could be rank 6 survivor with map and loop knowledge.
That rank 20 killer goes into match with 4 perks top tier against rank 20 survivors who are new to the game. How do you think it goes?
on top of that, you can be a rank 18-20 killer with no prior game knowledge and still easily 4K with the right killer ( hag, billy, oni, spirit). I know because I see it all the time.
-
I can’t wait for it to be done. So many trappers and they’re annoying. Most aren’t good but I hate slow walking and watching my feet.
-
I don’t think people who play less should somehow be rewarded. That would be counter productive to the devs main goal of, you know, people playing the game.
-
Sounds like a crap game. Don’t take it personal. Lots of kids off school for holidays and it’s raised the toxic level in dbd to an all time high.
-
Most players are playing killer. They said so on their livestream.
-
Yes. I’ve never had these but seen them in streamer vids.
-
Leatherface players are inherently toxic on every level. I don’t know why this is the case but it never fails.

Exactly. I leveled to 150 in Friday the 13 and could play both sides easy. I got bored after two fun years.

If you are a Rank 6 Survivor and Rank 5 Killer, and you are having trouble queuing for BOTH roles, then it's either 1. the geolocation that your matchmaker searches in currently don't have enough players at all or 2. something is wrong with your network setting/your PS4.
The other possibility is something is wrong on the DBD server end, but then it should be affecting a lot more people, not just you.
For most people though, if you are having a long queue time on survivor role but not the killer role, it means that there are too many survivors. If you are having a long queue time on killer role, but not the survivor role, it means that there are too many killers. The optimum number of killers to have at any given time is 20%, or 1 in 5 people.
It’s nice to see an educated and logical reply. Thank you.

This game is kille sided??? Muhahahahaha!!! Maybe you need to get past the Green Ranks, and even then, by the time a survivor gets to Green they should know the two things they have to do; Loops and Gens.
I’m on rank 5. My lowest is 2. I play both sides. Sorry, I know you want the game to stay easy and get your 4ks each game, but we all know killer is easy.
-
No way. Maybe for red ranks but it would decimate ranks 12-20 who struggle with regular gens.
I think people want the game built around red ranks but that would make it unplayable for casual users.

Is there plans to revert Oni to his post-PTB pre-nerf state? I will agree PTB Oni was a little ridiculous, but the change to his flick post-PTB felt like overkill and seriously hurt his lethality. I would like to know if there's plans to revert this change, or to give it back in a weaker, but still better than now, state.
Thank you, and have a great day.
He’s over performing on console so he will likely be nerfed I read. That and lobbies are disconnecting anytime he’s played so it’s not a great sign.

Either you are rank 16-20 or your network settings are bad. As a killer you host the game, if you use a router and don't set it up correctly, many people won't be able to connect to your PS4.
I’m rank 5 now.

I suppose you would add the ability to have survivors deliver dropkicks. If you have not dealt with very toxic SWF, you don't get it.
Well I don’t play toxic either way. Have honestly only had toxic killers mostly.

This is what happens when the devs constantly cater to survivors.
Oh please the games so killer sided it’s absurd. As survivor you can’t do anything except loop or stealth. It’s so stupid and yet killers complain non stop.

Hatch closing has to go. Lets be honest here. The game needs hatch closing back. Just PLEASE put it back. I'd bet that half the DC and kobe issues would mysteriously GO AWAY. Give the killer the 4k pip points on a survivor hatching. You have to entice players to want to STAY and play. The hatch is like the Carrot and Stick thing. or the "low miles, one owner thing" or the "SUPER SIZE only for a dollar more. OR the "large for a medium charge" or the " have it ur way.
Lets just be honest and frank here (same thing, right?) the hatch made the game FUN. Closing the hatch, takes away any will for a person from the start. The fact that if my team mates are bad, I still had a chance to escape.
THANK You, and I hope you enjoy the comic :😎
I agree. Now they always know where it is since they don’t have to sneak around like survivors, and the damn gates are always next to each other. Partner that with noed abd it’s so unfair.
-
Then we get a rank 15 ghost face with the worst internet connection in history who face camped me and then disconnected once buddy opened gate. Fun times.

I been playing dbd for awhile and the main thing wrong is survivors are always screwed. Killers ######### that survivors are op when all we can use is perks. Nothing else survivors are at a disadvantage especially when you got killers that can catch up to you and down you. (even with exhausted perks) and to keep nerfing survivors is insane am rank 4 on dbd and there is always hex ruin or an ebony mori added. Most games with killers get hooked once and they kill you leaving the other 3 trying to pick up the slack after a killer (mori or tunnel a survivor.) yet the survivor is op. Makes no sense. We don't get boost unless it's a perk. Our add ons don't make a difference if it's on a item and even with a add on it does nothing. But survivors should have something if a killer tunnels you. It's ridiculous how survivors have almost 40 to 50 perks and like 15 are decent and alot of survivors run. The rest are useless. For example against the spirit she has an add on that cancels out (iron will) so now I got 3 perks to run. And even if we have perks to help teammates such as (leader, streetwise, aftercare, bontany, vigil, bond, etc,) makes no difference if a killer runs (hex ruin, thantanaphobia, and dying light, etc) yeah I get you run these perks to slow down the game. But by the time you get one or two gens down killer already has you on hook once or twice and kills you or even running a mori. So now you got 3 survivors trying to finish the gens. But a killer will tunnel and get another person down and mori them. What is 2 survivor to do.? And when a killer get out played they quit. Not my exhausted perks by just a good run they have. May sound like bitching. But when a killer tunnels you a kills you with 10 minutes of a game while I waited 10 minutes for a match. It's irritating. And killers are geting more and more buffs. No survivor buffs? Yeah you say there is 4 people and some teams but most of the time I play solo and 9/10 times we die because of a bad play or teammate sucks. And End game needs to change.(* The killer should not be able to stand on hatch when your right there on it .*) and survivors are skins nothing makes them different from each other. Absolutely nothing! Why not have a default perk on each survivor like( Meg she has sprint burst. Plus her 4 perks. And only Meg can run that so you would have to play Meg. But only to that survivor. So that you can make the survivors different for each other than just a skin. Like make something for survivors.
I think they need to nerf killer speeds to that of the huntress. Like you should have to work in a chase to catch a survivor. Right now they catch up so fast and there’s nothing you can do. That’s why it makes everyone so angry.

It’s so funny because I was doing the unnerving presence challenge and I seen that the exit just can’t be opened so I threw on an ebony Mori to get through the challenge fast. Little did I know I was facing a SWF group so of course I recognized their coordination really fast and knew I was going to have a challenge, but in the end I ended up coming out on top because they truly only had 1 good player on their team and they got lucky with 3 good window spots on the chapel (clowns map) getting back on track I ended up receiving messages saying I’m trash and that I’m bad because I have to use ebony mori and blah blah entitled survivor crap anyways they acted like they were good when they literally had 1 good player who DCed before I could Mori him (lmao). Back to the question though why do survivors think being toxic is cool I’m a solo rank 1 survivor main and don’t lash out on killers if they outplay me or Mori me because I know that playing killer is hard and stressful and I’m pretty sure they don’t want to hear the complaints of some SWF kiddies.
So they’re toxic and unfair, but you still won? What’s your question?

Kinda like keys, tool boxes,SWF's, and coms right? But there ok because that's only fair, that's not a huge Crutch... 🤷♂️
Both sides have flaws. Don't just defend YOUR preference. See how it looks?
So for a key to work, you need to push through hex ruin and get 4 gens done and one player needs to die. While doing this, the killer has tunneled two people off hook and Mori’d them. Key is now worthless.
toolbox was fun until bubba knocked that ######### out of your hands and is now standing in front of you on hook, revving his chainsaw and making special needs noises until you die. Fun and balanced game

Never happens for me. I’ve tried different times of day too. Oddly it was very fast a day I stayed home sick from work. It was like 10am on a Tuesday and I got instant lobbies.

Honestly I would say they need to loosen the reigns on actually getting pips / keeping pips, but it would just make red ranks that much worse if it was easier to get into. I think the best fix is to make a casual mode that doesn't have the ranking system and also have ranked and just overhaul the ranking system. As it stands players are forced into a massive competitive stance and it's really not good for the games health.
This is a great idea. The points and pipping drives me nuts. I hate to say I care about pipping as much as I do.

I have been playing DBD for quite some time now, and I have always loved this game, until now.. I'm a main survivor (solo, red ranks) and I have to say it's a freaking nightmare..
First I have to wait 5-10 minutes to even get into a match, just to be camped, tunneled, slugged and moried, even before I get to earn enough points not to depip.. An average match takes about 3-5 minutes before all survivors are slugged or killed.. It's just not fun anymore. I am sad having to leave the game, because it's always been one of my favorites, but at this point it's just not worth it anymore. I can't see how this game is supposed to be balanced? In every single match, the killer gets 30-40 k points, while my co-players and I have to praise ourselves lucky just to keep our ranks?
I gave up escaping long time ago, usually I am just trying to keep my head above water, and earn the points needed to keep my rank or pip, but could We at least increase blood-points for doing gens, totems, healing ect. to at least make it worthwhile for survivors? Most of the time I find myself thinking "I might as well DC, because I haven't gotten to do sh**" when I am getting tunneled, slugged and moried for God knows which time.. I am not a fan of people dcing, but I can't say I don't understand why they do it.
Something needs to be done, we are not all SWF teams and though they might be OP, we struggle on the solo surv side -.-
This 100% sums up my experience as well. Killer mains will rush to this post like flies to a turd in July to say git gud, but fact is there’s too many toxic killer builds being exploited. The games become so unfun it’s a bummer.

survivors are meant to run around fixing boxes until the killer gets them. They nerf all perks and give just enough to keep players semi interested. Without survivor players there would be nothing for killers to chase and devs realize this, but killers are their money makers.

@ProfessorDunwich said:
From this well made summary of the recent dev stream.
"They decided to update Doctor next because he’s the most annoying killer to play against."
He was not changed because he was weak and people struggled to play as him. No. He was changed because survivors found him "annoying" in the incredibly rare instance a killer decided they wanted to suffer playing as him. Probably why we have had so many Legion changes recently, to make them less "annoying" for survivors to go against. Meanwhile very weak killers like the Clown are not "annoying" will likely be left to languish for years to come.
Well if survivor players all dc or stop playing, the game won’t function. The doctor is annoying af, so is legion. I don’t quit when I see them but I do roll my eyes and prepare to be annoyed.
btw isn’t the doc rework a buff?
-
I had to turn off messaging on ps4. Most players have done the same I think.

It’s not just pig. Most killers tunnel off the hook. The pigs just forget they don’t need to.
