All I know is that the Steam forums do indeed have the highest frequency of "I honestly can't tell who's serious anymore" threads. Doesn't even have anything to do with this side or that side, it's equal opportunity weirdness.
Entertaining to open up and read a random thread there now and then while waiting for a match to start though π

the loaf looks a lil bit mouldy and maybe radioactive; it's fluffy and yawning
Yawning, screaming, "laughing" - no clue which but it's probably one of them.
-
Don't mind me, just posting a peculiar-looking loaf
-
Someone finding a screenshot from over half a decade ago from a completely different game - one of the very few parts of my Steam profile with comment permissions not set to friends only - and made it very clear that... lets just say they seemed really fond of the idea of me hurting myself in real life and leave it at that.
But hey, reported and then deleted comments and they sure did remind me to make sure there's no way for random clowns to be Mad Online anywhere related to my profile, so I guess something sorta-good came out of it.
-
I haven't been counting or anything but it certainly feels like I get to use it more often than before the change. But then again I never really went out of my way to "weaponize" it whenever I did equip it, but it seems like it's more common people just take the risk even when it's 100% guaranteed it didn't deactivate (like popping BT directly off hook, then chasing the survivor down and insta-picking up after they're downed).
Anecdotal of course, but it has been that way for me.
-
It makes perfect sense if they want to play it safe sometimes. While it might hurt the "Wow!" factor of a chapter on release, it's generally more well recieved to release something that is later buffed than releasing something that might later be nerfed. Unless it's something practically universally considered busted or otherwise problematic of course, but it takes some seriously messy stuff to get to that point. Like release Mettle of Man / Legion levels of disliked.
-
That's randomness for you. While I sometimes wonder if the map selection process goes straight for a particular map or if it first chooses realm and then map, I just have a laugh at it and figure out the probability of getting the same map 2, 3 or if I'm really "blessed" even more times than that in a row. You quickly get some rather tiny probabilities considering there's 35 different maps, even though 5 of them are different flavors of Badham.
-
I agree, I'd also like if the broken key became the best one for aura reading use when they change keys. I'd even like a higher quality one that can't open the hatch but offers more aura reading time, lets call it the polished broken key or something.
It's not that useful but I like using broken keys as discount Bond sometimes π
-
If the skillchecks are like the PH cage ones where they get more and more difficult over time my first thought is that they're paused while your sacrifice progress is paused. So the skillchecks aren't tied to you being on the hook in the second stage, but the sacrifice progress itself ticking down. Which it doesn't while paused by camaraderie.
But now I'm curious if that's the case or not too π. Not like the cage... "sacrifice" progress is paused by the perk afterall.
-
It's impossible to know as it's purely probabilistic.
While it's completely anecdotal I had really good chest luck today for example, think the worst thing I got was a yellow medkit and the rest was purple/green toolboxes, purple/red keys and red maps. While yesterday it was brown medkits/toolboxes featuring a few yellows here and there.
-
Yes, a friend that got me and 3 others interested set up a KYF lobby to introduce us to the game. I got put on a hook and while the player with some experience tried to explain that I shouldn't attempt escape and that I should be ready to mash spacebar I managed to die on the hook π. We all had a good laugh at that and I still play with two of the people that were in that match on a regular basis.
-
Custom Games/KYF being truly and ridiculous with the customization available. Extra perk slots? Change base movement speed? Hell, even change how perks themselves work? Specifying a specific map seed? Restrictions and rulesets? All of it. Essentially a workshop to make up all sorts of wacky game modes no matter if that's making prophunt in DBD or making some sorta ProMod for competitive matches.
And to go with that, a map creator/editor. Don't really care if it's in-game or done in some sort of mapping tool.
I think this is possibly even beyond pipe dream territory but it's technically possible or so I'd assume. So yeah, that's my pick.
-
Iron Will, Borrowed Time, Inner Strength and Kindred. Been my standard for a while now honestly.
Might throw on a medkit instead and swap IS out for Decisive Strike if events happen that make me want to have the perk equipped for a bit.
-
I find it kinda hard to imagine as that would require BHVR being completely lost and ignorant about how "modern" (as in... post 2006-2007 at the latest, lol) multiplayer gaming works. And that doesn't sound like a company that manages to make a successful game.
-
Look at the description of the perk, the design the devs went with it blatantly obvious. The player with DS is the one in control of the perk deactivating, all of them except 60 seconds passing involves that particular survivor making the decision to hold m1 to do something. Someone else healing them does not fit that design.
-
Do you accept that others will also play however they want? Yes? Okay cool, that's the only requirement to get your official Play How You Want License*. So don't worry about what people say, report if they actually break rules with what the ysay, and play however you want.
*License might be revoked if you're found being a hypocrite playing how you want while complaining about other players doing the same, make sure to avoid this.
-
Some people are clowns, it's just that simple.
And while I don't agree with exactly what he said in the clip in question (which he himself admitted was a bad take), what he's talking about is very much a very scrubby thing some people do. Blaming players in situations where the blame should be on the game if anything. But that's not a survivor/killer thing, not even a DBD thing, that's just a "some people that play games" thing.
-

it should count being healed too
Look at all the other conditions, they're all in the control of the player with DS. It's up to them to decide if they want the perk to deactivate, if they work on a gen and then go down when they could've still had it active it was their decision that made it so it's not active.
Other people healing you doesn't fit that sort of design, as that's someone else's decision. Sure you can hold shift to deny the heal but it's still another player's action and not the unhooked player's action.
-
If you mean the player with DS was getting healed by someone else, that doesn't deactivate the perk. It only deactivates if they heal someone else or heal themselves.
-
I actually use it more than I used to, both to make an obsession appear and because I've personally encountered more killers that just insta-pickup regardless after downing someone off hook. I guess it's because I never really "weaponized" it but I probably get to use the perk in a higher % of the games I have it equipped than before lol.
-
I don't use them, don't really care if people do.
It's something where the only possible ways to go about it is to either just accept it's a thing, or add something similar to the game itself. Because good luck stopping people from using something that comes included as an overlay with many monitors. Like, firmware level that just gets plopped on top of whatever output from the PC/console the game is running on sends to the monitor.
-
I don't mind the idea of a chat filter at all, but if it was up to me it would pretty much only censor the sorta stuff that's reportable to say in the first place. That way if you see a censored word, that's a sign that they're breaking some sort of rule. Then just make it a seperate offense to filter dodge in any way. So not talking about your everyday swears and certainly not words like "killer" or "Myers" here.
But while it's kinda funny at first what we have now is just hilariously oversensitive. But pretty sure I've seen devs say they're looking into that aspect of it in some threads on here.
-
I haven't noticed any difference personally, some days I'm luckier or unluckier than others which is to be expected. You're gonna need to attempt kobe a lot and open a lot of chests to get remotely close to the intended result of a 4% success rate and whatever rarity distribution chests are "supposed" to give.
-
Pallets in general are behaving very strangely at the moment, so I'm not surprised if Spirit Fury has some weird interactions with the already weird pallets as well. It's something I'm sure will be fixed by the same fix that makes the pallets behave like usual again, as I'd imagine that's the source of the issue.
-
Probably because they have fun that way.
-
He's pretty straightforward, goes fast and can get close to survivors without immediately being obvious about it at times.
As someone that pretty much just wants to chase people as much as possible he's just.. nice. Can often start a chase close to survivors, and can go faster than default while moving around the map as well.
-
Because killer-specific MMR, and since MMR has been working in the background to collect data ever since the first time they tested it they can't really remove the killer lock and still get data that's useful whatsoever.
Killer-specific MMR was a highly requested feature and I don't know how anyone could ever think it wouldn't include killer lock, it would be a completely pointless system without it.
-
If they wanted to adopt it as a mechanic they'd have to make it 100% "basekit", as in available to everyone regardless of their input method. I highly doubt they will do so and I think it will be fixed, but if they did they'd have to do that as you can't up and down your DPI on a controller and it's even easier on some mice than others.
And even then they'd still have to fix something, as the same problem would still exist. People could still add another layer of DPI-swapping j-flick on top of the officially adopted extra turning ability. The underlying flaw with the game won't go away by simply adopting it as a mechanic as it's a flaw with an extremely fundamental aspect of the game.
-
I would've probably quit ages ago if I didn't, killer and survivor are different experiences and I'm someone that kinda needs variety to avoid getting burnt out. Not even switching between different killers quite does the trick.
But I do it in a weird way. I might play 90% killer for 3 weeks, then nothing but survivor for 2 weeks, then about 50/50 for 3 weeks and so on. But it works for me so no complaints here.
-
I assume I qualify when Blight fluctuates between 2nd and 3rd on my list of favorite killers? And my stance is the same as in your similar thread from yesterday, so I'll just link that instead of reposting it before going further: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065404/#Comment_2065404
I'll add that if it was to be adopted as a mechanic it would both have to be made a feature accessible to everyone (so make it a basic thing, so console players can do it too) and it would most likely be considered a buff to Blight. And if they simply did that and changed nothing else they'd still have to do something as people could use the exact same flaw with the game to turn even more than j-flick allows. As it'd just be j-flick turn with another layer of j-flick on top with no further changes.
As long as DBD is a game using things like turn speed and even field of view as things involved in game balance it's perfectly understandable and reasonable that things allowing players to bypass intentional restrictions on such things end up getting fixed. There's a reason Blight and Oni don't have free unrestrained control while going for a hit with their power, and it's for similar reasons higher field of view is offered as a perk benefit and stuff that messes with it like wacky aspect ratios ("stretched res") is controversial.Something like 4:3 stretched in something like CS:GO is mostly uncontroversial even though many feel it makes targets "thicker" and easier to hit, as it's available to everyone and vertical FOV is kinda irrelevant in that game compared to horizontal FOV unlike DBD.

Other stuff aside, I did exactly that and couldn't find it. He changed the thumbmail or the video was deleted. No idea why he would do that.
It's the "Whataboutism" video, at least the thumbnail is right there with a Trapper with a Trump face for me anyway.
-
Because it's doing something that's not intended whatsoever, the only reason it works is because the game can't catch up with what DPI the mouse input is coming in at more than once per frame, so from the switch until the next frame you can bypass a very intentionally implemented limit on turning speed.
And before I get crucified by someone yes, I have the same stance when it comes to other stuff that works in similar ways, by messing with very fundamental aspects of the game. Like how stretched res is the result of DBD's weird way of handling non-standard aspect ratios. And I don't want any of it fixed before a good solution is found, I don't want lazy rushed solutions like "lets just restrict what resolutions people can use and reject all mouse input for a second after a DPI change" or something.
EDIT: And even then I don't even exclusively want it fixed/removed. Unintentional things can turn into welcomed things (even though stuff like j-flick and stretched res are bad candidates for this because of the inaccessability for both for console players) but I just want a clear verdict on that sorta stuff. And from McLean's statements it sounds like it's not viewed as a welcome advanced technique of some sort, but something to be fixed.

I like your brass tacks. How about I say "DS is lesser abusable than it had been" and carry on with the rest of the statement?
I mean of course you're not wrong there, that was the intention of the nerf from the start.
-
How is that not a nerf? A perk that didn't have a deactivation condition before now has deactivation conditions.
-
It's a sorta common misunderstanding because there's basically two conditions that usually mean the same thing, but they don't refer to the same condition when you take a closer look.
- When the exit gates are powered
- When the last generator is repaired
The former activates no matter if the last gen is done or the hatch is closed, as in both circumstances the gates are powered.
The latter does not, as the activation condition is the last generator being completed. This does not happen when the hatch is closed, that just immediately powers the gates no matter what.
NOED for example uses the "When the exit gates are powered" condition instead of the "when the last generator is completed" condition, so it activates in both situations.
Considering they used the "when the last generator is repaired" condition that makes it seem intentional, unless they meant to use the other condition. In which case that should be a pretty easy fix, but I doubt it.

I've been saying GG or similar things as an almost automatic sort of thing after online matches for almost 2 decades at this point. To me it's quite simply completely foreign to view it as anything else than basic sportsmanship and not anything "deeper" than that.

Once a person with money to burn sues a streamer for any revenue gained off of a video they are in, twitch will be forced to address the issue. (Iβm not a lawyer so maybe there is already a law shielding Amazon from such a thing, I donβt know)
Ask yourself this: With all the ways people mess with streamers, from generally being unpleasant to straight up breaking the law by doing stuff like DDOSing, swatting and hardcore harassment - don't you think someone would've done that already if it was possible? Certain streamers and internet personalities have some extremely obsessive "hatedoms", making entire communities based on trolling them and disliking them. And I've never ever heard of anything like that happening, when I have no doubt in my mind that someone would've done so if it was possible.
I do however fully support "streamer mode" functions in every game though. It's a win/wIn situation really, even the nicest streamer with the nicest audience might at least one ultra-clown in their audience that thinks harassing people they see on stream is a brilliant idea, it's pretty hard to find and harass someone that is identified as "Meg Thomas" instead of their username. And at the same time it also makes streamsniping less likely if they don't have twitch in their name, so it helps them out at the same time.
-
All sorts of people do that though, and from the recent threads on j-flick and exploits in general it seems quite common that people want all of the stuff fixed. It's just that some of it is pretty hard to fix without fixing very basic elements of the game, like how to truly fix stretched res you'd have to fix how the game handles wacky non-standard aspect ratios to begin with. Because hopefully it's pretty obvious that lazier approaches like trying to restrict people's resolutions wouldn't fly.
And you see similar things with other weird arguements too. Like how sometimes people discount nerfs by saying they're "fixes" to make it "how it should've been to begin with" as if that somehow eliminates the fact that it wasn't like that to begin with. Even though I can see where people are coming from with it - it's very easy to fall for that trap when you have the gift of hindsight.
-
I just alt tab out of the game once I click search for match and I don't really tab back in until I hear the start-of-match camera spin happening.
So anything goes in other words.
-
Did I miss some news? Because from what I know no locker-related interaction disables Decisive Strike in its new version.
And Inner Strength wouldn't even trigger it. It's explicitly the "press m1 to heal" interaction done by the player with DS active that disables it (will admit I'm not sure if medkit/self care healing disables it but I'd imagine it does?), from what I understand stuff like Inner Strength, Second Wind and Adrenaline doesn't interact with it in any way. You can get healed, but you can't heal others.

Look at this rock, it took me 30 seconds to find it in my pocket so you better take a look.

All the dudes playing as toxic SWF's, coming at my thread to excuse their toxicity, it's just baffling. The fact that you can prevent a hooking by just exploiting a terrible design glitch in the game, when there's literally a perk and toolboxes made for SABOTAGING the hook, which is how the developers INTENDED the hook-prevention to be like, is complete BS. I mean, doesn't it come to your mind that if devs made it impossible to sabotage a hook and made add-ons and toolboxes specifically for THAT PURPOSE, then preventing it in another way isn't quite as planned by design? And you damn well know it, no matter how much you try to defend your toxic glitch, you know it shouldn't be possible.
And to all those telling me I'm a bad killer because of that, oh yeah? I guess I'm a bad killer when survivors crawl to a wall, where I literally cannot pick them up, because Behavior's game is buggy as hell? Is that also making me a bad killer?
From now on I'm reporting every single one who bodyblocks a hook or goes to a location where I cannot pick them up for exploiting a bug in the game. Hopefully if BHVR do their job correct, we'll see some punishments for that.
People going to unreachable/uninteractable spots I'd say is a valid reason to report but bodyblocking the hook is absolutely not. That's a 100% pointless report, and repeat false reporting might very well be a punishable offense in itself just so you know. It's no more reportable than a Billy catching someone in a corner and keeping them there as he revvs his chainsaw and downs them, in other words not reportable at all.
Your opinion on the matter doesn't change its "legality". It is very true that the report screen description sorely needs and update though, as the "bodyblocking" mentioned there exclusively refers to bodyblocking in a way that falls under taking the game hostage but it doesn't explain that well enough.
EDIT: And by unreachable spots being reportable I mean if it's obvious they're going there on purpose, and even then I'm not entirely sure. But at least it's something that makes sense to report, unlike something the devs have explicitly said isn't reportable several times.
-
Pressing the button? Not at all, I just click it then usually tab out until I hear I've loaded into the match to be honest.
In-game, sometimes if it's a challenging match. But at least for me it's the expected kind of stress that comes with playing 1 vs 4, you're often gonna have quite a few things to keep you busy. Again, this is my experience. I don't care if people don't believe it for some reason and I understand if it's different for others.
-
I don't really care much about that in itself even though the "I'll get revenge in the next match" mindset is one I personally just don't understand.
But you often see people never considering that whoever made them set out for "revenge" might be doing the exactly same thing. I mean, suuuurely they'd be just as understanding if their opponent(s) that got to them were just blowing off some steam after a rough match as well, right? Must be some kind of miscommunication, as that would be some truly pathetic quadruple PhD-in-hypocrisy level hypocrisy right there, reserving the right to take it out on unaffiliated player(s) while not extending that right to others... π
-
Generally just browse about or watch a video in little chunks, as I honestly can't remember personally experiencing queue times that would give me time to do anything else.
-
When the devs clearly state that their visual animation update isn't intended to change how movement works and feels mechanically, then it turns out it did exactly that, it makes sense that they'll make additional changes to "fix" that.
-
No Mad Grit 6/10 best build rating I can do π
-
In the past? Yes, when I still did "friend of a friend of a friend" sorta lobbies where people just invited whoever. You get some people you are quite simply harshly incompatible with that way.
Nowadays I can't remember last time I played anything else than duos, and even that is only with two different friends that seem to never be around at the same time because of their schedules. Very much prefer it that way as I actually know I get along with them.

I think scott found a way for both last i checked. Force dbd to run the native resolution of whatever monitor your running. And for the j flick put a curve limit and if you exceed the limit it forces the flick back to its limit. Itll look like ######### but it fixes the problem lol.
I'm not expert on this sorta stuff, but could you even somehow enforce native resolution as long as DBD is one of those "borderless "fullscreen"" games? The kind without any actual resolution options beyond resolution scale in-game that just takes your desktop resolution? Not to mention that there's no benefit at all if someone uses a lower resolution at the same aspect ratio (like going from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 or even 1024x576) for performance purposes and such. They're all 16:9 so the game will look the same, just... worse, lol.
But for the flick I guess some sort of hard limit could work, even though it's strange that the specific steps involved in it break the intended 90 degree or whatever cap.
