Because scrubs are plentiful in every game on planet earth. That's what it is, people finding some sort of way to basically say "You didn't REALLY win because you didn't win the right way!", which is textbook scrub behavior.
-
I'd adore it, my personal "pipe dream" has always been TRULY custom games where you can modify as much as possible to make anything from what's basically wacky prophunt to a competitive "promod" for the game.
All you mentioned and more, including modifying perks, offering, items and maybe even killer powers themselves. Want the exhaustion timer to have a different length? The max stacks of STBFL? The aura range of Bond? Whatever you want, mess around with it, it's a custom game so if it horribly breaks something just tweak the settings and try again.
That and a map editor, which would go nicely with this lol. But I understand it probably won't happen.
-
I don't care.
Only exception is if they're actually doing something that breaks the rules, in which case I report it.
-
The oh-so generic "multiplayer action game" genre.
With a horror theme of course.
-
Yes, the emblem system sorta falls apart when either side wins "too hard".
-
I don't mind that at all, can't even remember the last time I actually brought a key personally.
Doubt it'll cause any serious additional queue times though. Once a lobby is formed, in my experience any survivor(s) or killers that leave the already formed lobby are very quickly replaced, I'd imagine already formed lobbies missing players are prioritized to be "filled up" as soon as possible.
-
Some people are just textbook scrubs, don't worry about it.
Killer didn't pretend I don't exist just because I was the last survivor unhooked, even if they randomly found me 50 seconds after I got off the hook? Naughty tunneler! A survivor took a single hit for a teammate on the way out of the exit gate? Or displayed any other kind of even the most basic kind of teamwork? Clearly SWF! And any other silly stuff like that.
It's pointless to try to understand it, it's just people looking for excuses 99% of the time. Say gg or nothing and move on.
-
Doing so when it's very obvious the killer didn't straight up lose the survivor and they have no need to worry about the survivor getting away (like they're right under a hook and no possible DS) is a pointless waste of time just like a survivor sitting at the exit gate until 0.00012 seconds is left of EGC. Talking the stereotypical "last survivor is down and the killer just stands on them for 4 minutes" kinda troll-bleedout here, not ones where there's a lack of hooks or any other reason to hesitate picking them up.
Up to you to decide if that's toxic.
-
In my experience most of the time someone has TTV in their name they're either not live at all, or just a totally normal player. So I'll personally keep watching matches I'm in from another perspective, it's quite interesting and can even be educational.
I'm not saying what you're talking about doesn't happen, of course there's jerks that stream. But in my experience it's way more rare than many seem to claim, and I'm a person that wouldn't care if someone trash talks or whatever in the first place. The stuff I'd really care about... if they say that sorta stuff on Twitch they won't be streaming for much longer, lol.
-
Object is already getting changed into something less "abusable". In the "24/7 surveillance of the killer if they're willing to communicate that much" way at least.
And as far as I'm concerned, get rid of map offerings for everyone. Same reason that I think it's totally fine moris are mostly cosmetic and a cool kill as an alternative to 3rd hook, I don't think offerings should have the potential to have a huge impact on gameplay in general.
Ultimately I feel the only approach with any chance whatsoever of ever happening is the "buff base survivors ("solos") and killers" approach. The devs will never ever do direct nerfs or anything that splits the playerbase, or something that might even feel like disincentivizing people from playing together. But not saying your idea falls under any of that, I just think map offerings shouldn't be a thing in general ๐
-
Mettle of Man.
The effect it actually has when someone gets to use it (endurance effect) is strong, and I feel it will always either be situational and require too much investment for it to see much use outside of people trying to make it work for the fun of it (and it IS a fun sidequest!), or it will be obnoxious and very strong.
Unless we're talking about removing the aura reading part of it. That's technically a buff while not having to mess with how easy the endurance effect is to access I guess ๐
-
On the contrary, no usernames should be shown at all imo.
-
The turning restrictions some killers have on their powers is a balancing variable just like a medkit's healing speed and a chainsaw's charge rate. You shouldn't be able to break that very intentionally implemented limit.
If people like what J-flick brings to the table, propose a buff to Blight's intended steering instead. That way everyone can use it no matter their platform, hardware and preferred sensitivity, and it can be taken into balancing considerations instead of being something not equally available to everyone.
-
I wouldn't mind that at all, as unlike the "opposite" idea (avoiding/giving "bad reviews" to people) it genuinely doesn't hurt anyone.
-
I honestly thought there would be a lot of them but I've only see like... one in the last 2 weeks or so. And I've seen plenty of Huntress players, none of them really seemed like they were using up any add-ons recieving changes, they were just playing Huntress ๐

swf introduces a crucial vocal communications element that was not meant for or balanced into the game.
It's like playing a game of poker and saying its ok for your friend to go stand behind your opponents hand and tell you everything they pick up.
The only difference between what's happening in dbd and the poker scenario I've just compared it with is that sort of thing is called 'cheating' and can easily be policed in poker. It cant be policed in dbd so nobody does anything about it and a culture of "it's ok to cheat if it cant be policed" develops.
I don't know how I can explain it any more simple than that.
Here let me try:
its cheating to break the rules of the game which is what audio coms through swf does.
Just because nobody can do anything about said cheating doesn't make it ok. It makes you a cheater.
If it was purely an enforceability issue I doubt the devs would go through the trouble of adding the explicit line "We are not banning for the use of communication apps" to their rules. They could've easily left it in that greyzone where so many other things (custom icons, apps like MLGA in the past and much more) if they'd genuinely prefer people didn't talk, they could've told Fog Whisperers to not do it on stream, they could've arranged it so the Discord server didn't have chatrooms obviously intended for use while playing, that sorta thing.
It's not merely okay, it's actively encouraged. And of course it is, "hey buddy want to play this game with me?" is perhaps the most powerful player acquisition method in the world, and unlike marketing and advertisements it doesn't cost heaps of money.
EDIT: And I'm not implying it's only the way it is because they're "greedy" or something. They're just... sane and they're aware of how the multiplayer gaming industry has worked since like.. the 360 and PS3, lol. If your game has any sort of team play involved, you facilitate party play between friends. That simple.
-
They didn't ban anyone before they put the announcement warning about it into the game about the Legion blades, and if someone did it after that... well that sure seems like a reason to actually see what's new in the announcements, they had the information available right there in-game. And for the record I don't think it's the best solution at all, the best solution would be to simply disable bugged stuff no matter how inconvenient it is. Perk? Add-on? An entire base killer or survivor? Map? Disable it all until the issue in question is taken care of, like they did with the Red Forest realm recently.
And lets be real if they only buffed killers when they absolutely had to for the reason you're talking about they wouldn't buff killers, they'd just slap bonus BP (like +100%) on the killer role instead. I'm convinced this would instantly make any queue problems vanish as the majority of players are casual and would be all over juicy points. I'm not saying they should do this, but if they genuinely didn't care about killers of whatever there's a myriad of "shady" stuff they could do that would totally work lol.
-
Considering it is bannable to block people for them to die by EGC unless it's done after it has started or "shortly before", there's probably some situations where this isn't considered fine as well. But I wouldn't know for sure, but either way it's probably gameplay the devs would be happy to very clearly discourage.
But it's more the kind of thing that people shouldn't be surprised if the devs made changes to make it impossible to do in the first place if it became a common thing for people to do, like they did when they widened a lot of one-way entrances (like the basement stairs many places) and added alternative paths (like the dropdown in Thompson House) to prevent more "general" non short-term blocking scenarios.
-
Dude eventually you'll have to either realize SWF nerfs will NEVER EVER happen, that the "buff base survivors/solos and killers" approach is the only one with any chance of happening, or quit the game.
You're just dooming yourself to an eternity of screaming into a void for something that will, and I repeat
NEVER EVER
happen.
And I don't intend to be mean by saying this, accepting this is simply being realistic. For as much ######### as you get for it I actually respect that you posted your stream even though you probably knew you'd get criticized for stuff in it. All I'm saying is that with the reality of the situation you might want to seriously reconsider if you want to keep playing or find something that won't frustrate you, as you'll never get what you repeatedly ask for/demand.
-
Devs won't do anything that splits the playerbase like that.
The only exception is crossplay, but I'm pretty sure at least one console (perhaps all of them) has rules that makes it mandatory to include an opt-out feature if crossplay functionality is to be implemented into games on the platform.

I report people that DC on purpose out of spite and it's real obvious when they do it
A waste of time considering this
-
Disconnecting is handled by the DC penalty system, this does not mean it's "okay to DC". That just means the devs don't want you to report people for doing it, as even without a report they've already been punished for it.
If you do what you're talking about you'll quickly rack up a timeout so long that it'd be faster to just play the matches.
-
You can already opt out of it if you want, hell I'm pretty sure the ability to opt out is an actual requirement to have crossplay functionality on at least one console.
And yeah, I know that can lead to longer queues. Because the majority is either fine with PC-Console crossplay, or don't care enough about it to turn it off.
-
This one is technically me disconnecting.
Back before I realized there's no reason to let non-friends comment on my steam profile, my power went out mid-match. Not just mine, not just the building I live in, the entire area in the city I live in lost power and as a result I ended up disconnecting, obviously.
Got back online to a comment calling me scum swf for disconnecting to give hatch (when my power went out it was 3 survivors remaining which just adds more ๐ค to this claim, maybe I didn't drop instantly and ran into a wall for a while first? that on top of being a solo with an all-public profile). Naive me tried to explain this and their response floored me: Prove it.
Mate how the hell am I supposed to prove something like that? Props if they were doing a little trolling as it gives me a truly silly experience to look back at and have a laugh at, but if that's the case they nailed the "unreasonable angry gamer" act.
-
It's very subjective but I need to actually enjoy using their power, this is far more important to me than how strong they are or anything like that.
I find Blight super fun to play for example, so I really like him. Meanwhile I find Spirit's power boring to use, and as a result I don't really like playing her. Obviously extra noticable with 110ms killers where you're expected to use your power extra much, and also the reason I doubt anything will ever dethrone Huntress as my favorite. Hatchets are just a very fun and satisfying power to use.
-
No, they're the majority of the playerbase of just about any game that can be called "kinda popular". As in the people that are too casual to bother to ever sign up for an account on here.
And casual doesn't mean bad either. You can be that kinda casual "hop on after school/work for an hour or two and have some fun games" player with hundreds if not thousands of hours and in high ranks. Casual is a mindset, not necessarily a skill level.
-
If you're hoping they'll do anything besides either continuing as they've already done or shifting what is balanced around (the "buff solos and killers" approach), you're looking at eternal disappointment. Because no other option will ever happen.

But solos just doesn't need any buffs to perform any better, it just needs SBM because if you have a decent team then you're much more likely to be able to have a decent match. The biggest issue with solo is your teammates so once you get decent ones the solo experience will be a lot better.
That's fair, and I do believe that if SBM works out well it will help. Just feel like quite a few people both killer and survivor want something more, a shift in what "level of efficiency" the game is balanced around, and that's something I don't see any other way to do than doing some sort of buffing.

SWF needs needs, solos don't need buffs. A decent team of solos who know how to split up on gens have no issue winning.
But while the whole buff solos and killers approach actually has a chance of happening in the next 6 trillion years, stuff like direct SWF nerfs or even seperate queues I really can't see ever happening.
-
I use it on some killers, but more for its ability to let me find out where there's no people earlier in the match. It can save you time by letting you know if someone's in an area before you actually check it afterall.
It's certainly useful later on as well of course, but don't really care enough about that to pick the perk specifically for that reason.
-
Rarely, see a fair bit of Bubba but not much of that kind of Bubba. Probably been 3 weeks or so, and they got someon with Kindred, everyone else escaped and they called us tryhards. Central/north EU, PC.
-
As a neutral term that simply refers to someone doing gens fast, or to simply describe people going for an all out "gens before friends" style? Sure.
As a negative term that's more like an accusation/insult of how someone played? That's just scrubby and blaming players when (if anything/anywhere) the blame should be on the game. Thinking gens shouldn't be as fast is one thing, blaming people for doing them fast when it's possible is another.

Yes my rank "20" should be next to my name.
And as always they just vanished from the thread the moment you posted that. What a wacky coincidence ๐...
I don't think it has ever been this hard to resist @'ing someone to tear into them oh my god. But I realize it would be a complete waste of the brain activity used to do so. How dare you not toe the party line of the Killer vs Survivor political rivalry smh /s
-
If you ask me, the options are
- The "close the gap approach", however that's done. No matter how the idea is to change the assumed level of efficiency that is balanced around.
- Keeping it like it is.
I find it extremely hard to even imagine the devs considering any other option. Doesn't matter if we're talking about the quite honestly delusional pipe dreams that are removing SWF or using magic to stop people from talking, or the less extreme stuff like mechanical nerfs or seperate queues.
-
Illegal? I don't know, I'd talk to an attorney for that. I personally doubt it though.
A terribly irresponsible move that I'm sure Twitch and just about every other streaming platform doesn't consider cool for their users to do? Likely. There has been examples of streamers getting in some sort of trouble for not controlling their audience or at the very least making it clear they do not support certain behavior.
I don't know if something like Twitch's ToS would consider angrily showing someone's steam profile as directly encouraging harassment of the person in question, but it's an incredibly bad idea for any streamer to do.
Also what the hell are you people saying garbage like "you probably deserved it" smoking? OP said absolutely nothing about what they did (if anything), and no matter what this sorta behavior is something any streamer really gotta cut the hell out long before they get any sort of big following, if that ever happens. They might not want to do more than rant and call someone bad before moving on, but they can never know what kinds of complete edgelord clowns they might have lurking in their audience.
-
Cool idea!
My pick would be "Under Cover Of Darkness" by The Stokes.
-
It's one of the examples where the reporting categories in the report popup really need some work. It just says "bodyblocking" instead of explaining how it refers to blocking in such a way that makes someone incapable of actually playing the game or taking the game hostage.
I'm certain this confusion is perhaps the primary reason you see some misinformed people claiming that people blocking hooks or a Billy keeping them in a corner while revving their chainsaw is against the rules.
-
I agree that grabs should be improved, but calling it an exploit and blaming people for simply being aware that they're unreliable isn't the way to go.
The focus should be on actually improving grabs. Even though I'm absolutely certain a mechanic as latency-sensitive as that is ALWAYS going to be a little janky, simply because magical instant data transfer isn't an option - latency will always to some extent get grabs cancelled and people hit through pallets/windows even when they really really shouldn't.
-
I've never been past "mildly annoyed" at this game personally and it takes a lot for me to get there, if I'm not having fun I just play something else instead.
-
Never ever gonna happen. The only approach with even a miniscule but non-zero probability of happening (or even being considered) is the whole "close the gap" approach. No, I don't know the perfect way to do it either. No, it's not a perfect solution (a perfect solution does not exist). Which is why the sooner people realize discussing "inconveniencing" or directly nerfing SWF is a waste of keystrokes, the sooner everyone can actually focus their attention on something that might actually lead to something before the Sun dies.
-
It's the old difference by two seperate conditions that exist in the game, that in MOST cases mean the same but not always.
"When the exit gates are powered" vs "When the last generator is completed". No Way Out uses the latter condition unlike perks like Adrenaline or NOED, which use the former condition.
EDIT: got the former and latter wrong there, lol.
-
I generally just use the Cakes/Puddings and BPS then prestige.
-
I don't really feel anything about them. Some are cool, some are dicks, most somewhere inbetween like any other player you encounter.
I do like reviewing my gameplay from another perspective after the game though, so that's fun.
-
Accused of being not just SWF, but specifically a "sweaty 4man" when the only thing more "coordinated" and altruistic than actually saving others from the hook that happened in the game was me taking a hit for someone on the way to the exit gates.
-
There's no perfect solutions but unlike nerfing SWF buffing solos and killers actually has a chance of ever happening.
And no, I don't know the perfect way to do it either, or what exact buffs to survivors and killers it would involve. Because there is no perfect way.
-
Are you enjoying yourself? If that's the case, don't worry about adhering too strictly or "not enough" to any sort of etiquette.
-
When I get a hit that makes even me go "How on earth did that hit?". And the opposite, when someone should've hit me but they hit a single atom at the edge of a tree or something.
Truly a mutual darn moment.

Doesn't work. Just changes how/when the survivors stop the game from ending. Now, they just don't finish last gen.
EGC a joke? Parts of it, to some degree. Exit Gate Switch regression? No, it screws the last remaning survivor who already has to stop the exit gate just before the red light to maximize opening time between patrols, or has to get 1 light on Exit A and sneak over to Exit B to open it while the killer thouroughly searches Exit A.
It works for the ways people prolonged the game that were far more common prior to its implementation: simply standing in the exit gate forever, or opening gates and then running back into the map to mess with a clearly outmatched killer.
For the former there's now a time limit, for the latter the killer has the option to start the same time limit if they try to do it by 99ing gates instead. Survivors refusing to finish the last generator is far more rare than either of those situations ever were.
I'd totally support some sort of last-resort concession mechanic to take care of remaining edge cases though. Like after the trial has lasted X minutes the killer can hit a switch in the basement to either instantly open gates + start EGC or even instantly make all the still alive survivors escape the moment the switch is hit.
-

EGC should be scary the killer should automatically be buffed without NOED.
It should be intense.
and yet EGC is a joke with survivors twerking at the exit gates with their flashlight strobe party
The primary purpose of EGC is to simply make sure the game ends, nothing more and nothing less.
-
If I see a chest and I don't have an item then yes I search it.
