Anyone blocking someone else while standing still should just be possible to walk through after several seconds. Obviously shouldn't interfere with the perfectly intended kinds of blocking like keeping a survivor in a corner to land a power hit on them, blocking windows/pallets, survivors taking hits for other survivors and so on.
-
I'd be proud of him for becoming a dentist and changing his collection from fingers to teeth his patients let him keep after having them removed.
Reformed!
-
I forgor 💀
Honestly that's it. As long as I remember I usually put up some kind of random BP offering, extra chest coins as survivor, that sorta thing.
-
Deathslinger not too rare (2 today which was a surprise), Legion slightly more common (1 today and just see them more often in general).
Hag is basically cryptid tier and when I do meet one it's like a 90% chance they're a card-carrying member of the Lisa Sherwood Fanclub.
-
Depends entirely on if "looking for you" means downing them and then going to check if I'm near gens or something, or if it means "run around the slug in a 10 meter radius for 4 minutes".
If the former, I'll probably try to pick up. If the latter, I'm gonna wait it out and I'd want any other survivor to do the same if the roles were reversed and I'm the one on the ground.
-
Seeing the grind get decreased, preferably nuked from orbit, is compensation enough for me. And that's coming from someone at the point where I can't be bothered to spend BP until I'm about to hit the cap.
-
I do, good riddance.
-
May I recommend uninstalling the game and never looking back?
Because your stance isn't just harshly incompatible with DBD, it's harshly incompatible with modern multiplayer gaming on an industry level. The facilitation and even encouragement of social play is quite simply more important than any individual game or genre's balance can ever dream of being, and the best any developer can ever do about it is balance around it to the best of their ability.
-
I liked it, it felt like it sorta had its own thing going on compared to other recent-ish movies involving Batman and seeing some less commonly seen (as far as movies are concerned) characters again was a good time, I enjoyed them and the performances of their actors. And I've also always enjoyed stories with the Riddler, so that's a plus.
Not gonna live in my head like the Dark Knight trilogy but I honestly didn't expect it to either, that's a hard one to beat.
-
Should it be allowed as long as it works the way it does? Yes.
Should the add-on or whatever else be changed so it's no longer possible? Also yes.
Should anyone be surprised if/when they do exactly that? Absolutely not.
-
I honestly just wish it was... simpler?
None of the weird attempt at context-reading or whatever. By all means filter vile garbage like slurs, self harm encouragement and common filter dodging spelling alternatives, and make it an inherently bannable offense to circumvent the filter. But whatever we have now is just bizarre.
I joke about games doing wild stuff like filtering "assassin" because it contains "ass" even though the game has characters that are actual assassins in lore and class name, but I'd rather have that lmao.
And Steam's own filter solution is honestly fantastic and I hope devs copy it. Preset filters like "no filter", "slurs only", "slurs + strong profanity" AND with a custom blacklist the player themselves can fill with whatever they want.
-
As long as the focus is on where it should be (map design/generation, how different killer powers work and so on) it's fine. It's just another example of how a lot of the time optimal play in DBD is pretty much all about minimizing player interaction as much as possible, the part that most players find the most fun.
But yeah if someone blames players for doing it and they try to shame them for it they deserve nothing but bad matches. I want megascrubs like that to get so mad that they uninstall the game permanently.
-
Considering all the confused people that don't actually understand the rules or false reports because "well I don't care because X SHOULD be bannable!" it's probably to raise the barrier and make it less likely the rage reports people make actually get reviewed, as they're a waste of time. Someone who's just mad might report the killer for this or the survivor(s) for that, but they're less likely to actually file a proper report with evidence (that might not even exist in the first place!) in the "heat of the moment".
Obviously I want the report system to be burnt to the ground and built up from the ashes so that's not the case. Just make rampant false reporting in itself a temp-bannable offense for wasting the reviewers time and make the rules far more explicit so we don't get the classic "But the "griefing" report reason mentions bodyblocking so I'm right when I report survivors for taking hits for eachother!" anymore.
-
Some variation of the "bring SWF and solo closer and balance around that". Because that's the only approach with a non-zero probability of even being considered for 0.00000000000000000000052 seconds by the developers.
No, I don't know the perfect way to do it either. But it's that, BP bonuses, maybe SWF indicators after the game (even though I can see that getting reverted if even like... 5 people make a big deal about them making "lists of proven SWF players" or something with the info) or absolutely nothing whatsoever if you ask me.
-
No, but do makes changes so it's not a thing. Not a single person on the planet should be surprised if it's considered undesirable gameplay to an extent where it's removed from the game.
But people shouldn't get banned for it.
-
Well after taking it I'm curious about the results already. Good luck with your research 👍️
-
For me (on Steam, PC) they're certainly faster, but still kinda weird compared to other games.
Before the change to updates I had to watch the "patching" progress bar reach 100% several times. Usually 2-3, but one time 5 times which took ages. Ever since the change it's actually honest, while it still takes long, when it says 100% it means it, it's actually done. No clue if it works similarly on console, it's a weird bottleneck where your download speed (and to some extent disk write speed, as I really didn't save much time at all on SSD vs mechanical HDD before) isn't that relevant.
-
I believe the actual light effects of flashlights should just be removed, at least unless they're actually blinding. Maybe make the beam smoothly get more "solid" as it blinds. Seems like a very "non-intrusive" change as it specifically targets photosensitivity issues.
-
No, I'd much rather just see gg or nothing at all.
And I'm not accusing anyone here of it, but I feel wanting comments like that is one big step on the way to being someone who "plays for salt", which is a kind of person that if we had magical intent-determining mind reading technology I'd 100% support the immediate permanent banning of.

Among survivors, well, I was going to say that I didn't think it was a problem, but I've seen survivors bullying others, usually streamers, what I think survivors should know, was the perk that others are using, since swf can communicate and random players don't, but that's a topic for another topic, I won't focus on that here,
Oh yeah, I do agree that seeing the perk builds of others should be a thing in the lobby. Could just have anonymized names there though, me myself I've had some player that for some reason lost to time really despised me, and no matter if I met them as killer or survivor they'd try to screw me over in particular.
At the very least hiding/anonymizing your info should be an option. Even though then I'm sure you'd get people shaming others for using the option, just like some shame private profiles and the like, but if that became a widespread problem it could always just be made against the rules or something.
-
I agree, even though I might go even further as no players at all should see player names before the match starts, not even survivors seeing the names of other survivors.
Items and the survivors chosen should stay though, the killer seeing that in the lobby is intentional and a part of the game.
-
Don't care lol, just like tbagging and any of the other things.
-
Sounds like you simply leave the gen and hide when the killer approaches, am I right there? Because that's just a thing that often works, no matter if you try to hide until they go away to get back on the gen or to make sure you start the chase with max distance and in a good position.
Obviously you can take hiding too far, like just crawling around the outskirts of the map while the killer is a lightyear away. But that doesn't sound like what you did so whoever complained about what you did are just crybabies and you shouldn't worry about it.
-
Yeah that's just kind of a human being thing, not really something specific to a particular role in DBD or even community.
-
Wow, you stretched it so far it pretty much became some kinda art. Good job.
-
While I totally do feel like certain maps are more likely than others on certain days/dates and it's not truly as random as it can be, I still believe that's just some kinda confirmation bias on my part. Any amount of matches I can possible play is a completely irrelevant sample size compared to all the matches played in a day, week, month or any other timespan. When I get one of those "6/8 matches were Azarovs" days, someone else gets a similar day where they get a bunch of Swamp.
This though? Not at all. Randomness can feel surprisingly lacking in randomness at times, as it is exactly that... random. There's a reason music playlist shuffle functions in the past actually had to go away from proper random selection, as people complained they'd get the same song "too often" even though the frequency was perfectly normal probabilistically speaking.
But you say you don't care so hey, believe it if you want I guess. It is afterall basically impossible to prove or even disprove afterall.
-
They can already just filter for survivors without DH or even matches without DH though, bloodlust is a potential factor in every match no matter what.
"But there's no matches without DH!" is probably a thought in many heads there, but believe me with all the matches going on they're gonna have a lot of data even with filters like that applied.
-
Share an idea on how to do it that would actually be effective whatsoever and have a non-zero chance of even being considered by the developers of a modern multiplayer game first.
-
My personal anecdotal experience on <topic> goes against your anecdotal experience or opinion on <topic>, even though I in absolutely no way claimed it's in any way impossible for us to have different experiences and one of us must be wrong/lying 🙂
-
You have 2 people down and they did a single gen in <~80 seconds, that more than likely means no other generators on the map has any meaningful progress as the other 2 survivors more than likely double-teamed that gen (unless someone has stuff like a fat toolbox or in the no mither David's case, stuff like that + resilience or whatever)
That's a very good start, once you hook the two downed players at most one gen will be getting worked on unless the other 2 just want them to die on hook.
-
Bloodhound isn't even bad, it's pretty good at what it does and blood trails can't be suppressed without the use of less used survivor perks.
It's just that just like those survivor perks, most players would rather have something else in that perk slot.
-
Or just actually think long and hard about how the new perk they have in mind will interact with other perks, powers, items, particular maps or whatever else. Hell, I'm sure they could just make a post that's all "Hey, here's a perk idea we have. Please roast it :)" and among all the usual hysteria of any perk that isn't useless someone will catch genuinely disproportionally strong synergies and call them out before the perk ever touches the game.
Then it'd just be up to them if they think the stuff people call out is undesirable enough to change the design of the perk or add some sort of anti-synergy targetting whatever issue that was pointed out.
-
Floors with only one way to access them have always been a bad idea, no matter if that's because of difficulties hooking from them or the layout turning them into a Basement+++ if there's a hook there. So it's just an issue, full stop.
-
I only have 2 that I'd call truly consistent.
First is just... really weird. Average Quentins do not exist, they're either lost and confused with no clue what's going on, or incredibly good. It's the weirdest thing ever but it's my anecdotal experience in a nutshell.
The next one is that people that "play for salt" go absolutely thermonuclear if they get even a nanogram of their own medicine with worrying consistency. As in saying straight up vile and bannable stuff after the match because their funny trolling didn't work. I guess they've deluded themselves into believing it's justified when they do it, while cranking the hypocrisy up to 11 and uncontrollably seething whenever anyone else dares to do... the same thing they do.
-
Kinda hard to dodge when I just queue up, tab out and tab back in only when I hear the start-of-match-spin woosh sound play. So no, I simply can't be bothered to do so.
-
Actually pretty neat change. Sorta reminds me of the Soul Guard cooldown, which was laser-focused on players building around squeezing every last bit of potential out of the perk while being less relevant for "normal" use.
Less beneficial for the whole "run to elevated area and go down over and over" thing, the most likely situation where it'll have an impact I can think of is "greedy" basement hook attempts where the killer drops down the stairs while the survivor already has a good chunk of wiggle. Will be interesting to see how the new version works out.
-
If someone actually gets a firecracker save on me I want to shake their hand and give them a medal to be honest.
They're genuinely pretty strong vs wraith but they're one use and you'd be better off with Flashbang for that particular use.
-
I'm sorry but I've never in my life heard of a single game where 10% of players on any platform cheat, that's a ridiculous number. And of course a cheater/cheat dev will say stuff that might normalize it a little bit, it's in their interest to do so.
Not saying it's not a problem but that's absurd. I'm sure cheat devs would absolutely love if everyone started believing any remotely "sus" event like a killer finding you by pure luck or a survivor reading you really well a single time is because of subtle cheating 100% of the time, as that's when you get wacky mindsets like "I have cheats, but I only toggle when someone else does!".
EDIT: And even in a world where it was actually true... a lot of those "players" would be alt accounts of the same actual person. Cheaters often have more than one in case they get banned, and the truly dedicated ones (the ones that you basically can't truly stop because they will buy new consoles to dodge console bans, endlessly bypass IP/HWID bans, make endless accounts to dodge account bans and so on) can have truly absurd numbers of them.
-
Nah I'm still having as much fun as usual, and clearly it's more than enough fun because otherwise I'd just do something else.
-
Some are, because just like anyone else they're people. And some people are jerks.
-
It took me a little bit to get used for when it comes to stuff like unhooks and exit gates, but I'm still gonna keep it on probably forever. To me having it for the longer interactions make up for any possibly kinda awkward actions to do with toggle.
Obviously in a perfect world we'd have on, off and "custom" though. Where you can specify toggle/hold for ever imaginable interaction and tweak it to your liking.
-
I've had my Steam comment permissions set to friends only since the day they added seperate privacy levels for different profile components. Only things I keep public is my general info, game info and inventory because I still do some steam inventory item trading here and there.
For in game chat I don't have it disabled because I honestly don't see a lot that I consider truly vile, like at all. Then again I'm someone who just laughs at the 2 billion ways people say "ur bad at game lol" and forgets about it in 5 minutes (unless they said it in a particularly creative and funny way)
I don't blame anyone for locking stuff down even more than me, that's the decision of every user. Anyone that feels entitled to any sort of profile info no matter if that's general info, comment permission, game details, friends list or anything else are clowns.
-
I'd totally use it as I swap back and forth between the two anyway, and unlike most queue ideas it might even have a non-zero probability of even being considered as it doesn't split the playerbase in any way.
-
Just like any other killer that is even more expected than usual to rely on their power, if you don't really like using their power you won't like the killer. You see similarities with killers like Hag, Nurse, Twins and so on.
And personally? I quite simply don't find her power fun to use. And no, it's not because of any changes - I never found her power fun to use.
Of course only my personal opinion, but I can't really get into playing her as a result.
-
Do you have a small mousepad/mouse space? Low sensitivity? Both? Those are common reasons for having to re-adjust your mouse like that a lot. If you move your mouse as far in one direction as you can comfortably do without picking it up, how much do you turn in-game? 180 degrees, 360 degrees, more?
There's obviously no "best sensitivity" or mouse pad size, just like wrist aiming and arm aiming is down to preference and both have upsides and downsides.
If you find it annoying to have to re-adjust you can try upping your sensitivity so you can turn more without getting to the point where you need to re-center your mouse, and/or getting more space for your mouse to move around (bigger pad + move any obstructions that might be there if possible)
EDIT: And there's nothing inherently wrong or bad about picking your mouse up, no matter your setup sometimes you'll probably have to do it. Just like anything else, if you do it enough you get good at doing it quickly and without disturbing your mouse movement in game too much, so moving it "cleanly" to put it that way.

oh so me doing that is such a bad winner but tbagging at the exit is totally fine I see how it is
Not a single person said that though? And clearly the survivors in this match didn't do anything like that, as they all died (hard to tbag in the gate when you're dead) and didn't say anything whatsoever in chat.

He was free (base game) to me on Playstation, and I had to level him to get his teachables which was easy as he was the only survivor I played before I purchased Nancy.
I actually didn't know the character himself was on other platforms! I learned something new today then 😄
-
If it's possible I genuinely see no reason not to include it, as long as there's a way to disable it/enable it at will. I get why people might want to disable it, but I also believe a lot of people would like to at least have it as an option.

One thing I think is being overlooked here.
1. Borrowed Time is Bill's perk, right?
2. Bill is a character from Left 4 Dead.
3. That means a percentage of the money made selling him in a shop is going to a third party.
4. As we learned with the "Stranger Things" changes, the Original rights holder still has quite a bit of control, to the point where even the perks had to be renamed.
5. What are the chances the rights holders of the L4D franchise are cool with 1/3rd of the character's value (on paper, in reality more like 50%) being made redundant, possibly driving down the amount of people willing to spend money on a premium character to get it?
6. What are the chances that BHVR, a company that has clearly put a focus on selling dlc in the form of characters and costumes for them, would make a change that is likely to lead to less purchases of Bill?
Bill is free in all ways he can be. On Steam the character is free and automatically included with the game and you unlock his perks via the teachables system, on other platforms his perks are part of the general perk pool if I remember right.
The actual promo deal aspect of Bill's inclusion in the game seems to pretty much 100% be that people might think "Hey this guy is cool, maybe I should check out L4D(2) to get more Bill in my life", not making money from selling him for his perks.
-
If you have that mindset, do you want to hear something very spooky? You've probably gone against more streamers without their link in their name than streamers with their link in their name. So you better start somehow killing everyone first (somehow), you never know they could be a streamer you're giving "free content" afterall.
Anyway, only more reason to hide all identifying information (names, profile access) that isn't directly relevant to the actual game in a mechanical way (survivors picked, items they bring).
