So you want everyone to be completely non-interactive in a game that low-key nerfs loops and overbuffs stealth with every new map?

And that's even ignoring that it's not "adaptation," it's just forced stealth. Adaptation is changing the way you loop, not being forced to hide because you have no other options.

Do you want everyone to run in circles. And get upset when a killer that can do something about that. you dont have to do this to every killer some killers you can run in circles "also interactive when you can see them"

Im just pointing out weaknesses. Do what you want.

There is no counterplay to deathslinger as his shot is impossible to react to, and spirit is a guess, so no counterplay there. If you can run one for a while it isn't your skill. It means they messed up. Those two are the only ones with no counterplay.

Its called adaptation some killers are supposed to domonate chases nurse sprit billy. But they have nothing to help them find surivors now there are perks to locate surivors but majorty require surivors to do something. Its like hide or die that game. The hunters are extremely fast or disable the surivors. But if you waist a ton of time by hiding and the killer dosent find you you whin that situation even if you go down. If you waisted 40s of hideing and another 20s with chase 2 or 3 gens are almost done.

Since it roughly corresponds to play time, would it be beneficial to attempt to match players with similar devotion levels? Especially since it doesn't really do anything else right now.

While that is a good idea it wont work like ranking its just a number to show how much you play. Baising it off that wont be good because those with a high devotion will never find games or allways go fight the top players and the only thing that keeps some players is running into the new players

  • @RakimSockem said:

I'll address the DS + Unbreakable towards the end of the thread because I know that's what all the angry people are going to come in here ready to yell about.

I'm starting by addressing the perk itself. We all know what it does because there's endless threads about it. From the time you're unhooked, if the killer picks you up again within 60 seconds, you get a chance to hit a skill check and stun the killer. Cool.

There are many perks I would and DO run over that for a number of reasons. DS depends on the playstyle of the killer and only works if they choose to tunnel you instead of going after the 3 other people on the map. And I don't want to hear about "Well, they're just trying to be efficient and tunneling is a good strategy" because I'm not arguing against that. They're fine strategies (despite being boring for the survivor), but I'm just stating facts. I play killer and I know exactly who was just pulled off a hook recently, how many times each person has been hooked, who is on death hook, who I've never seen. Every killer knows that so when someone chooses to go after the same person again, they know what they're doing and we're just going to call it what it is.

Now that being said, here's perks that are better (imo) that DS because YOU control when you use them.

Borrowed Time - BT has its own set of weaknesses but it can get people out of a LOT of bad situations if you play it correctly. You control when it gets used, not the killer.

Kindred - Damn near indispensable in solo Q. Anytime someone gets hooked, you have knowledge of where your team is and what they are doing, and possibly where the killer is located based on hook is running. If you are on the hook, your team gets that knowledge

We'll Make It - Quick heals off of the hook. Both players are back to what they need to do in what... 8 seconds? Idk the exact time but I know it's short.

Inner Strength - Encourages players to take care of totems which helps prevent NOED and works as a pocket save

For the People - A pretty good anti tunnel perk when you pull someone off a hook and instantly use it. The killer either has to make the choice of commiting to the tunnel which would take 2 hits and possibly a long chase, or going after a fresh target. And most people don't expect it so they usually commit to who freshly unhooked person expecting an easy kill.

Saboteur - Map wide hook knowledge, lets you see where hook deadzones are so you can make sabo plays. My SWF friends consistently see me pull these off at least once or twice every game.

Lithe - If window hitboxes ever get fixed, this allows for a pretty good extended chase that a killer might not be expecting and can extend loops

Hell as much as I think it's trash, I might even run Dead Hard for the same reason as Lithe. Only reason I don't use it is because it fails more often than it works

    While yes are right

but why run sabbo if it get you injured or down

bt can be waited out sometimes

Kindred is meaningless is swf its fair for solo

    Well make it is ok

For the people hurts you and ends your chase faster

    Innerstrength is fine

why run lithe if you could run deadhard or sprint burst sometimes you cant make it to a window or pallet

Ds gives you 180s of basically invincibility and extends a chase of a minimal of 20s with nothing at all giveing all surivor to do gens

Any significant downtime would kill the game. Once you break the addiction, there is little point in returning.

I would rather see them stop trying to add content and features, and spend a whole chapter fixing this crap.

So basicly what i said it wouldn't have to be down for a day like a hour or 2. One a week or something. And takeing a entier chapter to fix the game will help but the game might die. like rainbow 6 when they did operation health it greatly helped the game but it almost died in the process

Hi all. Huntress is not one of my most favoured killers (I know git gud etc) but I am finishing off the trophies and finding grinding for 'Skilled Huntress' a particularly irritating experience. I mean 100 DOWNS. FROM 24 metres away? It should just be 100 downs from any distance or 100 HITS from 24 metres. Or am I just being a big tart? Thanks.

And they decreased it from 100 to 20

I think that might have more to do with matchmaking. The matchmaking is bad, and ironically that's probably what's holding the game together so well as randoms tend to be a lot worse at just focusing on objectives. A focused team (even of randoms, but it's less likely) will get 3 gens done even if a killer quickly finds a survivor and instant downs them. I know this because it happened last night while I was playing Billy. On my very first chainsaw sprint I found and hit a dude, who was, helpfully enough, right next to a hook. Pop him on, start my next sprint, and 3 gens pop. I'm no expert on chronological forces but it sure didn't feel like anywhere near 80 seconds had passed, but I also didn't see many toolboxes. I guess maybe things just took longer than I thought? There was definitely no chase, I just happened to run into the poor man.

In any case, if they could do something to help struggling teams while slowing down more powerful teams (it's a party game, right? A casual game? Like Mario Kart? Mario Kart has tons of rubberbanding, as annoying as it can be for more skilled players) I think it would make playing killer more fun and less stressful. You have to play with a completely different mentality once you start hitting red ranks, and not in a good way. It's not impossible, and last night I just hit rank 1 for the first time (using Clown of all things for the last 3 ranks, so even on a "bad" killer you can still pip) but it just doesn't feel as good or as fun as earlier ranks. I'd almost prefer completely near-random (excluding maybe actual baby players, so everyone rank 14 and above maybe?) matchmaking, with ranks completely deleted from the game.

I don't need to win every time, and a lot of the time I don't even care about winning. But what I do want to do is actually spend time playing the game. Not loading into a lobby, waiting for everyone to hit ready, the 16 hour load screen, having the match end super quick one way or another, and then loading back into the pre-lobby screen where I waste more time on the bloodweb and replacing add-ons/offerings and repeat. I want to be able to have fun doing silly things like Jump Scare Myers, because doing fun stuff is so much more important to me than playing well. And... I can do those things, it's not like I'm beholden to pips or rank, but the survivors will finish their objectives too quickly for me to get any fun out of it most of the time. I WANT TO PLAY SILLY SOMETIMES. At least give us a casual matchmaking mode with random rules or something!

There's so much wasted time between actually playing the game, it makes it really unsatisfying when I'm finally in a match and it just comes down to 3-5 minutes of gameplay.

Even when it's "boring" like the last 2 survivors refusing to do gens, waiting for the other to die so they can take the hatch, that's at least interesting in some way. Hell, the most fun I've had in the last couple of days was having survivors desperately try to come point to their friends stuck on the hill so I could go get them off. I'd smack 'em twice, pick them up, let them wiggle off and then wait for them to heal (if they chose to do so) before counting to 10 in a corner before resuming the game. It felt... nicer than what the game has become in red ranks. Less hostile, or maybe oppressive.

Then why cant i get a casual game i want to play diffrent killers but every game i do 2-3 gens done in like a minute and a half the game makes you feel opressed to go back to the killer your best at in my case huntress. All day today ive have maybe 2 casual games. I wont lie the broken mmr that went live was so much more fun than this i know yhey were new but i would like to be able to play killer and not have the game last 2 minutes (edit typo)

With doc, predrop pallets. Avoid rooms where you can get trapped(the car on autohaven, that office area on lerys, etc.). Know when to break off into another loop. Break LoS so he'll have to guess his shocks. Use lockers/terror radius to your advantage to avoid his blast. Bait his shocks to slow him down and gain footing against him. Don't ######### wait at pallets.

Personally I love these killers that break the norm. Why the ######### would I want to run circles against every killer the same? The killers really should have variance in strength in different areas. I'm totally fine with Deathslinger's strong chase. He's got weak as ######### macro and pressure. I find myself escaping against Deathslinger most of the time. Back when I tracked stats for 100 rank 1 games, I escaped against every Deathslinger.

    Exactly adaptation

  • @gatsby said:

The counterplay to Deathslinger, Pyramid Head and Spirit relies on the player making mistakes. It has very little to do with the Survivor's actual skill. At maximum skill, the counterplay to these Killers basically goes away.

As a Red Rank Survivor, I can immediately tell if I'm going against a Rank 1 Deathslinger or like a Rank 6, because if you're able to counterplay them. It's a sign they're not as good. A truly top tier Deathslinger/Spirit/Pyramid Head won't let you loop them, will pretty much ignore pallets and will hit though jukes and mindgames that normally work somewhat reliably. Pretty much the only thing that works is your exhaustion perks and running early to delay the first hit as long as possible.

Its called adaptation if its a doctor well i dont know what to do but if its a killer thats good in chase dont let him find you for as long as possible. Sprintburst helps if they find you if its s stealth killer know where the closest pallet is and keep your eyes open. Dont blame the killer because they wont let you play how you want. And if they are running a mori well they probably just had a bad game and are pi**ed rn so just move on when you die and dont s**t talk them. if you want to fix the community fix your self first

  • Even if it is i would like a verstail killer

  • And a quite a bit of luck

  • @Flawless_ said:

inb4 I'm all in for strong killer perks but I, for one, feel like certain combos are straight OP at the moment.

also inb4 this is not against the Ruin change specifically, but rather how Undying combos will negatively affect the amount of fun in the game. As a survivor because it has the potential to be extremely oppressive. AS a killer, because it is completely rng based so essentially if they find Undying first you lost your build and possibly the game.

So basically the devs did a full 180 on the fun premise and made totems twice as hard to find. It's already a pain in the neck when these potato teammates can't find Ruin (or any other hex totem) once, and now you expect people to do it 2, maybe 3 times?? RIP solo queue, now on half of the games no gens will ever get done and when they do 3 people will be on death hook. Expect more DCs and people killing themselves once Devour Hope kicks in. More braindead NOED killers? Woohoo sounds like a blast. How is that fun in any way especially for solo players?

I honestly don't understand Behaviour's logic with these new perks. Yeah they're really strong, great but at what cost? Hopefully they'll balance things out once the new chapter goes live unless they want their player numbers to keep nosediving like they did this month.

Because totems are so hard to find and ruin. Regress gens. "So fast" that getting off the gen would be a waist and there is still the rng of is it the new hex or is it ruin and gets replaced people dont do totems well now you have a reason to

  • @wisdomwielder said:

    MMR be damned.

If you have less than one hundred hours in this game, this system should NEVER match you against people with thousands of hours. There needs to be a gently sloping scale of increasing difficulty and gradually increasing upper limit to what ratings you are matched with depending on your performance. This system seems to just drop you in the ring with Muhammad Ali "to see how well you perform." Wow amazing! You got destroyed!

This game is already very unfriendly towards newcomers. If this continues, I can only forsee a great drop-off in new player retention. People don't play videogames to get frustrated (sane people anyways).

I've also noticed that the system seems to think that having one high rank player in a lobby will balance things out against a good killer. I'm sorry but one person cannot carry an entire team in a game like this. A decent killer will just focus on the weak links. One or two dead without gens completed is almost a guaranteed win for the killer, and chances are, the high rank is going to find the hatch. The only people that suffer in this arrangement are the low ranks.

(I also really want to know how these matchups are determined; is it seriously just the average rating of four survivors vs the rating of the killer?? If so, that's incredibly myopic and negligent!!)

Odd almost every match ive played except 3 or 4. Have been my rank or close not includeing the swf

  • Yea i can do that use a perk that last only 2.3 minutes but my traps will still be disarmed and im now a basic killer with 3 perks and not 4

When did I say I camped? And also I wanted get enough shards to get a another killer, so I want to win.

Shards are earned on how long the game lasts not bp pr kills

  • Ohh thanks theres a decent forem and not crying 9yr olds asking whats the point of ptb. This is what the forems are meant for so if a dev sees this rather than hearing only complainys they hear the problem and a solution

  • While i dont like the aura changes i like the fact that they are atl least trying to do something with them and i play on xbox i have no frame issues there is lag but im assumeing thats because of the ammount of new players and crossplay. If it wasnt for the ptb billy wouldnt of been fixed bubba would still be broken and we would of had no warning. It's ptb that means public test build. not pitch trash beliefs. So chill god the game is not the best but these forems are not helping

  • @Pryzm said:

So, I made the mistake of playing survivor tonight for the first time in weeks. Four matches and I was done. Three were hardcore tunnel matches that were absolute snorefests. In one, I did 3.5 gens and 2 totems with an escape and did not even score 13k. What the flying pigs is that?! Because the killer sucks and has to tunnel down two other players, the surviving players get crap bp and at best a black pip? Come on! Give these guys some BP already!

My match making is way faster in the evening as killer. I can toy around and not even try and make 25k in a match. I can get my arse handed to me and make nearly 25k in a match. I was watching people get tunneled out of the matches with less than 8k, even though I know they did a couple gens and got chased 3 times (really fast on the 2 later chases due to not being barely off the hook when downed again).

This is one of the primary reasons I left survivor three years ago. Absolute crap for BP and putting up with constant tunnel/camp. If you get tunneled/camped out, there should be a BP bonus for the hassle. If you are gen-jockying, you get crap for BP. That should not be the case. Gen jockies should get lots of BP as well.

Sorry, I just think this thing is insane. It's why the survivor role is so toxic. The best way to get BP is to bully the killer as much as possible. Gens don't give crap and totems are not much better. I've done 2 gens and 5 totems before getting faced camped out of a game (basement bubba and a lovely lag spike that stuck me in a corner) and left that match with less than 10k. Wow!

Getting tunneled and camped would be a lot less frustrating for people if they were getting more BP for it. I know it helps me as a killer knowing that I can get owned and still get good BP.

Bp is fine. It is up to the killer to give bold points and altruism points so it sounds like you had the worse games ive ever heard or you died immediately or you did 1 thing because. A gen is 1.85k or more with teamate you did 3.5gens maxed obj at 2sd gen and escaped because obj caped and escaped ill do the math for you 8k+5k=13k that is 13k right there my advice do something that not a gen for the whole game. Instead of complaining about it on a forems. You could try to take a hit stun them while someone is being chased. Either that or you wanted attention and this never happened and as you said 1 game dosent determined how every game goes

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

I think its strange people are upset by this. The only thing thats changing is you have to pick your killer prior to searching for a match. It seems like you can still change perks.

My only recommendation to tge devs is to lock items for survivors while theyre at it, maybe 30 secs before match starts.

I like that idea but they can have that item on diffrent character so you would have to lock the surivor and item as well so they cant do that

  • @ggezbaby said:

Let me preface this by saying: I understand the reason for the killer lock. I understand it's so high rank players can practice as new killers against a fair survivor lobby. This is all understood.

Now, to my point: If killers have to have a load out ready before even searching for a match, so should survivors. There is absolutely no reason survivors shouldnt also be locked into their choices. If you have any legit reasons, I'd be happy to hear you out.

But why is it okay for a survivor to have the opportunity to last second a key but the killer has no choice but to stay or lobby dodge? Theres no reason why I, a rank one survivor, can wait until the very last second of lobby time to switch to a key or some other item, while killers are locked into their killer choice.

If the devs plan on keeping the killer lock, a survivor lock definitely needs to be looked at and implemented for the sake of balance. If not, good job continuing to kill a great game by implementing further ways to ruin the killer experience.

And if you're a killer main and you're cool with this change, good for you man but its important to take everyone's opinion into account, and in my opinion, it's bad.

Instead of locking them the whole time thay are locked at 30s. Giveing killers time to prep and have a icon if the surivor has a key so we dont have to be Sherlock homes to see the dam item

  • While yes you are partly correct. But dosent feel like a win if you get pounder by 3 ds 4 unbreakables and 4 adrenalines even if you get 2. You still probably outplayed them to get punished for doing your goal and then get frustrated because you could of had 4 and not 2. Edit spelling

  • @xxDeathwishDW said:

I just played the game for 3 weeks, I learned everything but still didn't understand that big toxicity. There's always a toxic person in every match, teabagging, flash spamming is eveywhere, there is also a guide called "How to be a toxic survivor on DBD?" Why? Why so toxic man? And whose fault is that? I reported at least 5 person who has toxic behaviour, none of them banned I think. Whose fault is that?

The issue is not fully the toxicity its more about the skill cap betweenne killer and surivor surivor can do all these things with minimal effort because of perks like ds unbreakable and crasy combos with little draw back or risk with a moderate or high reward. And the killer has to try and make reads and be mutlitasking 3 things at once with a often low reward and when killers get brought to the skill of surivors they get mad and gloat about how much better they are than you to compasate for how they lost and if they win they think you are bad because you didnt catch them.

ALL of them toxic, teabagging me and sending me messages after the game was over. I am not a hardcore player, i like to play the game when i get back from work, and this just makes me Sad, and on top of that, the dbd community os one of the worst i have ever seen in a videogame.

Feels bad just play the game for fun you could ingore the messages and the reason the community is toxic is because you got surivor mains that think bullying killers is fun when you have brain dead perks to make you basically invincible killer mains that get annoyed and have to try insanely hard only to get toxic messages because they got you played and the few who play both solo like me

  • @RoMainPuppy said:

Matchmaking's broken asf. Apparently the way it's SUPPOSED to work is by putting SWF's against killers closer to the highest person's rank. Instead we get...this. Or we get met in the middle where a Rank 1 and a Rank 20 group up so they get put against a Rank 10-ish killer.

So people can have like 3 red ranks and 1 brown-yellow and get put against a green-yellow killer. Fun. Fun fun fun fun fun.

Yes this is supposed true untill youre rank 1 as both and get rank 20 everything else

Any killer at rank 1 with no perks or addons is rough maybe nurse and freddy can do it if they try insanely hard but then wheres the fun

  • this is to draw an example of a real game

  • Issue with 2sd chance perks like ds unbreakable adrenaline is theres little to no counter play to it yes for adrenaline you could run noed and have satly surivors be mad but noed can be broken before it is lit you have waisted a perk slot for the entire game and got no value. But how do you counter ds unbrealable you cant be re hooked unless you're bad and miss and you cant be slugged because you will stand up and a smart surivor will save it at 99 and get 1 tap and hop on gen or heal then there is 2 on 1 gen 44s their ds is gone and a gen is done its just free gen pressure and if you have adrenaline it encourages you to do last gen while injured to get 5 s of basically invincibility and another hit to you. You're down on struggle get taken off hook bt saves you you go down near gate but you saved ds and unbreakable he cant leave you because you will stand up and he cant pick you up you get out and you leave what dose he do?

I know at the unhook he could of traded but then what someone heals you and you trade. To get ds same out come most likely to escape "varies on killer" and the person you saved is at the gate

People wouldn’t run perks like BT and DS so much if tunneling and camping wasn’t such a big issue.

Bt is fine the reason people complaine about ds is because they run it with unbreakable to have free gen pressure cant slug cant pick them up

  • Then what difference dose it make

  • Maybe they like the game and want People to play. If they wanted profit they wouldnt spend this much on iconic killers they wouldn't of made original killers earnable with play time so they dont care they see humans. Not lgbtq or straight

Perks give the player a special ability. What ability does we're going to live forever give to a survivor? None. Comparing BBQ to WGTLF is a false comparison.

It rewards the killer for getting a hook and discouraged camping if it was a hex not only would they have less of a reason to leave then they wouldnt have fun and were gonna live forever rewards surivors for helping their teammates and encourages you not to sit in a corner like your rank 20 cluadet because ypure stuck in rank 20

  • No i dont think they will the reason the nerfed ruin is because of passive pressure imagine getting insta down because of a mobeing trap thats free pressure

  • This is to see how many people will be affected by this change because if 130k people are mad about this and only 15k play him then why are you mad
