  • Disagree on the slugging changes. I don't need to play it to know it's still too much. Any amount of cumulative time slugged for permanent unbreakable is not the way to go and can still be abused. Teammates will leave each other slugged on the ground still because it's more time efficient to do so, even at 120 seconds. Unlocking permanent Unbreakable is too powerful. The slugged resolve concept is fundamentally flawed.

It needs to retain the team component to be okay. Two slugged people should be able to pick each other up after a while. That's the only way to go.

  • I also have this issue after all my settings got reset with the update. I tried messing with GameUserSettings.ini and nothing seemed to make a difference. The lowest effective look sensitivity seems to be zero and that's still too high for me. The worst part is that I'm going to have to retrain all my muscle memory now 😭

I honestly hope felix or even elodie gets a tome soon. They never expanded upon their story and the pariahs. It's been far too long.

Yea it's honestly tragic we haven't had one for either of them yet. They both seem like really pivotal characters.

  • UHHHHHH because literally all the other DLC's are??? Since the beginning of time, 1 surv + 1 killer has been $7. It's been that way since the beginning because they didn't want people to gatekeep people from essential gameplay content, but now you're forced to buy it for either 12 or 10 dollars because they added a skin. It's why skins are so damn expensive in the store, because their optional, and they should have STAYED optional. This move is blatantly anti-consumer and greedy. BHVR is not strapped for cash. They have their boatloads of money from the gatcha game, and have two AAA games in development AND a movie coming out. If they wanted to make more money, they should have done that by adding actual value to the game like custom moris or better cosmetics that people can actually CHOOSE to buy instead being forced to get this ######### bundle with their gameplay dlc. How can people not see how they're getting ripped off with this??

That is how business works... I don't want to spend Β£4 on a block of cheese but as costs go up that passes to the consumer

They could have done that in other ways that aren't anti-consumer gatekeeping content bullshit. They could have added more value to the game in other ways instead of FORCING you to buy a bad skin. Why aren't there custom moris? I know people would eat that crap up willingly and it would make BOATLOADS of money.

    It's cheaper with auric cells.

If you don't want the extra stuff in the chapter, just buy the characters with auric cells

    It should have been $6.99

Does someone really have to explain to you how $10 is still more than $6.99?

  • I brought this up on the reddit, and my post was IMMEDIATELY removed for "oversaturated content" even though I have not seen one post about it.

I'm honestly surprised to see posts here have not been suppressed as well. The community seriously needs to speak up about this.

    I support most of this.

The compound 21 complaint feels out of place with how prevalent anti-aura perks are right now (as it should be).

I do not think that one should be changed.

I also despise the basekit idea, getting stunned is punishement enough, no need to add to it.

Some addons are clearly OP and most ideas here are pretty solid.

Hopefully, with a Blight nerf we could nerf gen times, map size and pallet counts so M1 killers get back into the game.

The existence of distortion doesn't mean the add-on isn't too powerful. What other add-on gives as much aura reading other than Plague's Iri? At the very least C21 it should be changed to an Iri, and that should be his most powerful add-on.

  • I think instead, important perks like Kinship and Deliverance should just show up on the in-game hud somehow. Either that or we need to start showing people's builds pre-game or on the start menu. There's no reason not to. All it does it alienate soloQ.

  • I agree. People who want to play seriously and people who want to get their tomes done and go for power-struggle plays should be separated. All you have to do is disable challenges, dailies, etc. in ranked mode for it to no longer be a problem. The bonus to be gained from this will be less complaining about people sweating or not trying, because there will be space for that. No one in comp complains about sweat because sweating is expected. If everyone shares the same expectations, then the salt will decrease.

To sum up the numbers based on your original post and my feedback:

For one survivor at 1 gen, 1 charge = 1 second gen time

    Original post:

    • 20 seconds / .9 = 22.22 (an addition 2 seconds)
    • 40 seconds / .8 =50 (additional 10 seconds)
    • 60 seconds / .7 = 85.7 (additional 25.7 secs)
    • 80 seconds/ .6 = 133.33 (additional 53 seconds)

    Feedback:

    • 45 seconds / .9 = 50 (additional 5 seconds)
    • 45 seconds / .8 = 56.25 (additional 11.25 seconds)
    • 45 seconds / .7 = 64.28 (additional 19.28 seconds)
    • 45 seconds / .6 = 75 (additional 30 seconds)

I feel like a standard time will help spread pressure early on (even if its just an additional 5 seconds) and help with the issue of it being too strong at it's best (50 seconds is pretty insane), I didn't add the clause of it disabling after a kill since the standard time reduce how strong it is overall.

However even with the decentive to camp/tunnel, all killers have to do is go past 16 meters, then go in to camp again. I'm not too sure what secondary clause could be added to reduce it, maybe it disabling after it activates if you go back in the 16m radius for 5 seconds?

I really like your suggestions, it's well thought out.

Maybe to disincentivize camping, it could go the hex perk route (kinda ew)? It could only be active when the perk is active, so if the killer isn't actively going out and contesting the other survivors, your perk could be destroyed.

I also think it should keep the caveat of it deactivating if someone is killed, otherwise the perk would be become unbearable if someone is killed early.

  • @EvilSerje said:

It won't work. Because skilled killers hook everyone and apply pressure without it (otherwise they lose on high MMR), bad killers will camp/tunnel no matter what you do, as long as they don't have to do anything and prey on less skilled solo survivors.

You know what is the most common perk I see in the last time? Deadlock. And it is almost always paired with tunneling/camping killer. Why? Because it is perk that buy time to camp and tunnel.

Everything you said was nonsensical and irrelevant, and coming from an us v them mentality, and I don't think you understand the perk Idea or simply didn't read it.

What makes a killer good or bad isn't whether or not they camp or tunnel, it's knowing WHEN to camp and tunnel. It's irrespective of how you feel about the practice. Getting to a 3v1 as fast as possible is right now the best strategy to win.

The proposed perk gives great slowdown basically for playing nice.

Imagine this scenario: You're hanging around someone on first hook and someone goes for save. You injure the person saving, but they both manage to get away. Now if you're running this perk, and trying to play efficiently, you now have two options: do you try for a tunnel on someone who may have BT, OTR, refreshed exhaustion, whatever, or do you go for the fresh hook thats going to give you crazy slowdown for a good amount of time? AND this incentive increases every time you go for someone new.

If the numbers are high enough, and I find myself in a scenario where I'm playing for keeps, I can see myself going for fresh hooks instead of tunneling.

  • I'm currently getting this as well on survivor

EDIT: Disabling crossplay helped a bit, we got one game, then got a few more errors.

  • Lmao the hottest of takes...

  • Don't know about you guys, but I've gotten pretty good at "surfing" the new boil over to the point where I actually get to the hook faster πŸ˜†

I can see new players having an extremely hard time with this perk.

Unfortunately, this perk has become another bully-squad anti-hook favorite, and I ran into it multiple times on multiple killers on the first day. It makes certain areas like the top of iron works impossible to hook somebody unless a hook spawns down there, and people knew about it already (no mither, boil over, ran there multiple times).

I think a counter might be to drop them off your shoulder right on the edge of the drop off, but it can be extremely difficult to do with all that extra movement going on. I'm not totally sure it's even worth it as the progression might be the same, so you many still have to leave them slugged after dropping them for little bit in order to let the wiggle bar regress.

Overall I think the perk is now a problem. All it does is make certain areas of certain maps "unhookable zones" especially if you've got a buddy with breakout. It's similar to the old breakdown bug that created dead zones on maps where hooking was impossible.

    Overall bad change.

I don't think the effect should go away entirely since it's interesting, but it should be reduced to something much smaller, like 10% or 15%; small enough to account for these situations where survivors are safe if they run to a certain area of the map.

  • kekw just listen to footsteps. Iron Will can't hide those.

  • They fixed an issue where he could pounce through window vaults however πŸ™ƒ

  • I'm glad they're getting an update, but I agree, I hope they don't become unrecognizable.

What I really want though are unique animations for each survivor. It would give them a lot of personality and uniqueness instead of just being skins. Things like making it look like Meg runs like it was effortless and making Ace walk like he was prancing down a Vegas strip, or making Dwight nervously scratch his arm while standing about. Things like that would go a long way when it comes to characterizing these people.

    To play devil's advocate here.

The company charging for licensed content is hardly pay to win. Perks being tied to characters is a little pay to win but you aren't just buying perks you are buying game content. Expecting more from a DLC is what we should do, its should have killer + survivor + themed map at minimum.

When its just new killer/survivor with great perks then yes I'd say there is now a bit of a pay to win for good perks scenario going on.

Now the caveats here are that this game is been out for a while so a discounted base game and perhaps some of the older DLC's should be a thing by now and at least in my region it is. Integration of some older DLCs into a base game purchase would also be a good idea given the game's age.

Perhaps its time to start making older DLC perks unlocked from the beginning to lessen the new player grind.

These are improvements I think would go far.

Sadly online gaming models are built on grind, keeping players online is the idea and the way to make that happen is grind, so you're not likely to see grindy elements change much. Its why deep down I really hate this trend of making games multiplayer online dependent.

This is a great solution, and I have no idea why the base game isn't permanently on sale for $6. Same with some of the oldest DLCs. You've made your money, and now it's time to lower the base price (and maybe even lower the shard cost for these older characters). They have all of these other sources of income literally printing money for them, at least make more of the base game content more accessible to new people...

  • @PanicSquid said:

I'm going to take a different approach here, why can I not pay money to get more bloodpoints? I have all the characters unlocked but I want to get all the perks on all of my characters at p3. I am at 600 hours and I still have a long way to go.

That's the definition of pay to win, I. E. Pay to skip the grind. At least the BP grind is universal to everyone, despite how bad it may be.

  • What I'm trying to point out here is that the insane grind is what is making this game PTW. If you don't want to invest 800 hours of your time grinding to get all the unlockable content in DBD, then GIVE US MONEY. They're using the grind to get more money out of you.

Are there sales for this game? Yes, and that's pretty cool, but God forbid people ever try to earn anything in this game if you don't want to pay money.

Thankfully, survivors have most meta perks available on free characters, and strong killers like nurse are free, but if you want the most optimal build for your killers, you will have to buy multiple, often licensed DLCs to stay competitive. Don't want to spend the money? Wait for 6 months for those perks to pop up in the shrine.

The free track for this game is unrealistic, and it's getting worse all the time.

  • I would really like some newer player's perspectives on this.

  • @Yords said:

We know, it is good that it was nerfed, but these were just too simple to be good changes. It needs a range requirement and no penalty to hatchets, then it will be fine. Ultra rare addons are supposed to be game-changing while not being impossible to deal with. The soldier's puttee is an effect that is good, but not something for an ultra-rare, in fact some people have been saying to give huntress base movement speed when out of hatchets for a while now. The new ultra-rare does not give you an effect that is good enough, it is not that strong.

Agree, something like the puttee could be as low as a yellow, like the shiny pin. (Also why deerskin gloves green?? Lmao??)

I just think our voices are not as loud as they should be right now, like they were for rat liver.

  • No. He can't see scratch marks, so it's fair.

  • @Crowman said:

Just because they only shared the two iri addons for huntress does not mean other addons were not changed. They were just highlighting what they felt were the interesting things to share.

I think you're vastly overestimating how much the devs tend to accomplish in these updates, but we'll see tomorrow.

  • Dunno if a simple speed boost is the solution. I really think Ricochet should be base kit. Other than that, he doesn't do anything special that no other killer can do. Every time I get a hit with a couple of knives at a pallet or loop or something and they don't go down I always wonder why I'm not playing Huntress or plague.

  • Can we also talk about the number of breakable doors?? It feels like someone prepped the map for a zombie apocalypse or something. Dead ends EVERYWHERE, and really hard to navigate now if it wasn't before.

  • I have a really hard time keeping track of survivor status effect changes now. When someone became injured, the hud change was so noticable, it was something I could pick up out the corner of my eye without having to actually focus on that part of the screen. The contrasting change from white to red was blatant. It made it really easy to keep tabs on everyone. Status bars like the hook bar or mending bar are also more difficult to read (and I also have to take my eyes off he action completely.) Now I don't immediately notice when someone is in trouble because I don't notice status effect changes. Same with killer. I don't immediately notice when someone is pulled off of a hook or healed because I'm usually entirely focused on the action.

I want everything important in the bottom left again with clear, concise information, and white stylized character pictures.

Killers also need the tally marks. Killers who tunnel will tunnel. People who want the hook marks want it so they can *avoid* tunneling. The hook ring is unnecessary if you have this instead.

This isn't a mobile game. Stop it with the mobile game hud.

  • From a killer pov, I think this one has to be the worst so far. Half of the ######### they released doesn't even work. Legion was broken on release but at least the game was playable --- I don't even want to play right now.

Best? I think most of the licensed chapters. I remember the Halloween chapter being the most hyped thing in existence and Myers seemed like the only killer in the game at the time πŸ˜†

Silent Hill and Stranger Things were pretty damn good too, mainly for the fact that we got those characters in the game (and how Pyramid Boi shook up the meta)

Oh yes, and Huntress was pretty damn cool too. First ranged killer, so I was super excited to pick her up and get good at her. We also got dead hard that chapter, goes without saying.

  • My first instinct on what I thought their maps should have been:

Blight: Disturbed ward, Vigo's laboratory. We see some of it in the hallowed blight event videos but I think it could be expanded upon.

Twins: I think the French Catacombs would have been cool, or some version of them to tie into the lore. But Catacombs of some kind would be a great fit for this game overall.

  • @JackTheMimic said:

Look, just use distortion, inner strength, detectives hunch or small game and stop griping. I put this combo on with a random 4th perk and I get ruin down before I run out of tokens. Two people on your team with distortion makes it impossible for the killer to even know you started cleansing before it's too late. There are counters to things you just have to find them.

You wrongly assume I am some kind of helpless survivor main. I've played killer for well over 4k hours, and when I run this perk combo, I almost never lose a game. It is becoming as prolific as ds/unbreakable, and will become moreso as more and more people gain access to Undying. It's too good not to run for many people, and it's ability to suppress gens rivals old Ruin.

Of course there are perks that counter totem builds, but you can't predict the killer will use one in the lobby. That's like trying to predict if a survivor will bring Object and you have to bring the appropriate counter of you have it. Not everyone has a survivor team that they can delegate certain perks or roles to. A solo queue survivor shouldn't have to redo their build in order to counter one perk the killer MAY or MAY NOT bring. (i.e. lockers didn't use to counter BBQ and now they do. They are a natural counter to many killer perks and powers)

Your Devour Hope example actually works in my favor. That is an extremely powerful perk, but has the downside of giving survivors knowledge of it's existence at some point. Of course, you can always make assumptions and predictions about what perks are in play based on context clues, but a solid yes/no answer is always more impactful or helpful.

AS A LEGACY KILLER MAIN, I believe Undying is too powerful and deserves to give survivors more of a fair shot at countering it. Giving a small notification when a survivor is nearby a totem is a fair nerf to me.

  • I, for one, am not playing this garbage fire until they fix the majority of these damn bugs.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

Undying doesn't need a nerf its the only viable hex defence perk in the game and I am really getting tired of having to say this every thread.

Undying has shown the power level needed for hex defence perks to be played.

    Once again I ask this:

When was the last time Thrill of the Hunt or Retribution had any noticeable impact on your games?

If you can't remember then lets buff Thrill of the Hunt and Retribution instead of nerfing Undying.

You can't deny that Undying is insanely oppressive when paired with Ruin compared to other regression perks. I almost never lose a game when I run this perk combo. Its like running DS/Unbreakable.

  • @Unseen_Force said:

Giving survivors a notification when they are within its aura reading would make undying useless

How? You still get aura reading. You still get totem reset. You still get people doing totems instead of gens.

  • @Unseen_Force said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/210865/undying-nerf-without-sacrificing-its-utility

I think we can take a break with all the killer nerfs for a little bit and worry about fixing current bugs

You don't think I know what the situation is? Doesn't mean we can't discuss other things on here.

  • Ugh, I can't believe they picked my stupidly worded question. It wasn't even that highly voted. Should've deleted it. Those were bad comparisons I made, but I suppose the point I was trying to make was how many newer perks simply overshadow the old ones. i.g. is there EVER a reason to use overcharge anymore? Especially now with Oppression out which seems to just be a similar but better version of it? There are a ton of perks that occupy that niche way better than overcharge ever could in its current state. If you want to strictly regress gens you pick Pop or Ruin, or if you want the tracking and regression combo you pick Surge or Oppression. If you want to protect totems you pick Undying, not ToTH.

I'm sure there are some survivor perks you could compare as well like pharmacy to that new one but I can't recall survivor perks right now.

Main point is; Many older perks are simply outclassed by the newer perks in the niches they were designed to occupy. I was wondering if they would make changes to those older ones to make them stronger in more specific niches or situations so that they could find some use and also wouldn't compete with other perks.

  • Yea, I definitely would not even launch the game otherwise while it's in this state...

  • Literally NOTHING has changed from the PTB!! If anything, we have EVEN MORE BUGS. If your DLC isn't ready, THEN DON'T RELEASE IT. SCREW YOUR RELEASE SCHEDULE.

  • I really like the fact that they know each other they're part of the same interwoven story. Creates an interesting dynamic, at least in my own head xD

I do hope they do something with it however, like tell current stories within the realm of the Entity

  • Bump. Still no access to Q&A yet. What gives?

  • Purposefully holding back is annoying and boring. Playing well and challenging myself is fun. That doesn't mean running OP tryhard builds all the time is fun though.

  • In all seriousness, Beast of Prey should be activate-able or something.

  • This is why I'm a PC person.

  • I don't think regular anime would be a good fit for this game but I think anything from Junji Ito's library of horror would be amazing. If they could somehow collaborate with him on a chapter it would be amazing!

  • If Object gets deleted, or DS gets nerfed, I'll know for a fact that I'm in the dream world.

  • I feel like most of these types of questions can be answered by invoking "Because the Entity does/doesn't allow it."

It's the Entity's world after all.

  • Thank you for this very in-depth look at why it looks so wrong. Dbd Cybil is very much in the realm of uncanny valley.

I just don't understand how the art department can be so inconsistent when it comes to quality? You would think they would want to make a faithful recreation of the character they're trying to sell you...

  • They need to just do what mobile does and replace DCs with Bots. It would solve so many problems...
