  • I actually like killing David, but not because I don't like him. QUITE THE CONTRARY. I'm just drawn to him, okay? โ€“specially when that boy is lookin FINE. Also his eagle screeches amuse me to no end, even after 3 years ๐Ÿ˜† My affection is sometimes deadly lol.

The cross play system is literal garbage. There is no visible control over ranks or levels. Since rank reset Iโ€™m rank 8, I get rank 20s that are lvl 10-30. The killer is always red rank with p 3 skins and always pc players. This is getting ridiculous

It's because PC killers are picking up the slack for your lack of console players lol.

  • It's a fun challenge trying to get everyone out. The game is basically won at that point, so trying to pull off a seal team six style rescue is fun. It also feels really good if we manage to save the damsel/dude in distress ๐Ÿ˜„

If I die, I'm okay with it, because the rest of the game went well for the team.

  • Do you cry and whine and DC every time a new killer comes out or do you learn how to play against them and make adjustments to your playstyle?

    Because this is no different.

You have not had to go against these mechanically demanding killers at their full potential, while PC players have been dealing with them for YEARS. We know what to do, and you can learn too. It's time to #########-ing learn my friendโ€” not puss the ######### out with your tail between your legs.

  • I think consoles infected us with their bad queue times lol. Killer is instant and survivor takes forever, especially in the evening. I think it's because it sucks so much to play killer on console, that there are hardly any console killers, so the PC killers have to pick up the slack now.

  • I'm a PC killer main myself, but I've been playing a lot of survivor recently for the archive challenges, and it's usually pretty obvious when I'm going against a console killer, even at rank 1 (Deathslinger can't really quickscope, it's really easy to 360 most of them, make them miss, or get them turned around). I really don't know what the exact environment is like for console killers, but it sounds pretty painful. The combination of low framerates and joystick controls seems to be a big handicap.

Survivors on the other hand are about the same (usual mix of potatoes and competence, but sometimes I feel like there are more potatoes on console, but that could just be bias). The joystick 360s have caught me off-guard a couple of times since it basically allows for a perfect circular motion, but it shouldn't be an issue once I get used to them. In hindsight, I'm sure I've come across some controller-using survivors in the past who moved that way, but it was so rare, it was never really an issue.

Most of my games have also been much more casual now instead of the sweatfest I usually get, but I think a lot of that can be attributed to rank reset (I'm not back at rank 1 yet).

oh yes I'm sure, 2 different matches today people seem to have the most amazing reach with there melee weapon, and they wasn't no where close to me

That's lag bro. Cheaters on PC are REALLY DAMN OBVIOUS.

  • @YeetoDorito said:

You wanna chat with the toxic killers/survivors all day long?

Seriously, idk why it's even still in the game. Delete it.

  • I feel like this is very similar to the swf argument, except you already can 100% opt out ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Do you want fast queue times or do you want fair games? Is there a correct answer? Dunno.

  • I'm a rank 1 killer who refused to play during this whole MMR mess and maaan... There are SO many boosted survivors in red ranks now lmao. I've only seen a few people who were obviously trying to depip. It can be annoying, but I don't really blame them; they got ######### over majorly by the MMR (or they got used to ez wins).

It shall be my darkly divine duty to depip all of these misplaced survivors lol.

  • If rank had been used as a baseline and the MMR system had made adjustments from there, I feel like it could have worked out.

    However...

I think this game would suck with theoretically perfect matchmaking. It would just pressure people to run the absolute best loadouts and only play the best killers all the time. Games would all be the same. At least with the system we have now, every game will be different, guaranteed.

Honestly, they really should have focused on balancing the game more before even CONSIDERING slapping on some kind of cookie cutter MMR system they ordered off of eBay.

  • This issue could be fixed I think if they give a swf an MMR multiplier for each person in the group, so that for each person, their MMR is increased by say... x1.2 for each person.

That way, these groups will go against killers who are equipped to deal with swf.

You're saying all groups want to be the best? So we're not allowed to play for fun? How narrow-minded of you.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1528472#Comment_1528472

As opposed to OP's idea of punishing casual groups just because they want to play with friends?

If you are playing for fun your MMR is likely not that high compared to highly competitive swf who run optimal builds every game. A multiplier would not effect you as much, even though you are still getting the benefit of a free 5th perk slot and better coordination.

  • Survivors already have a 5th perk slot; it's called SWF ๐Ÿ˜†

In all seriousness, no that's a terrible idea. We would only ever see meta characters like we do perk loadouts. And we all know that's inevitable if bhvr tries to implement something like this since they have SUCH a great track record with balance changes.

So you're telling me that I cannot tolerate insults and yet still support the side of the toxicity itself? Pal, as I've said, I've seen #########, more sickening than your cerebrum could ever perceive, and when I play a game, I play it because I want to have fun not partake in a ######### vulgar debate after each damn game

Did you reply to the right comment lol? I thought I made it clear that I agree, and that people can be scumbags. If they just deleted chat, it would solve the problem. I never like talking to people post-game anyways.

  • I've been playing this game since 2016 and have over 4k hours. I'm won't be playing again until they stop putting me with rank 20s. It's not fair to them and it's boring for me.

  • I don't understand how a game like this with a chat function hasn't implemented a chat filter of some kind. It would make their job so much easier if a lot of basic insults and phrases were simply censored. I would definitely miss using some my favorite curse words, but it's worth it if it shuts up racists and fascists.

In all honesty though, this game doesn't really need an end-game chat. It does nothing but breed toxicity. Consoles seem to be getting along fine without it.

can you read? obviously not because that is not close to what i said. game time =/= skill, rank =/= skill. and i really don't care because i know that i am average at the very very best. i am not some delusional kid who thinks they are top 5% when they hit rank 1 when any potato can hit rank 1 with enough games.

Idk, it's hard to understand what you're saying because your grammar is so bad. So you are saying you would rather not go against someone with many more hours than you? I thought playtime didn't indicate skill.

Would it be better to say that there is a high correlation between play time and skill with minimal outliers?

  • @teamdehn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1511871#Comment_1511871

absolutely not. do people with skill have a decent amount of time. but having 2k hours being potato still makes you a potato.

So you would be okay with going against people with a thousand times more hours than you no matter what?

  • @teamdehn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1511864#Comment_1511864

rank isn't a decent indicator of skill or they wouldn't be replacing it.

Is playtime a decent indicator of skill?

  • @teamdehn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1511841#Comment_1511841

there is no way to tell as someone who took some time off could be a rank 20 now due to rank reset. yes RANK doesn't mean anything... they flat out said any potato with enough games can be rank 1. it means nothing.

The rank 20 survivors going against my rank 1 killer seem to disagree with you ๐Ÿค”

Like it or not, Rank is a decent indicator of playtime which is also an indicator of skill, like many other rep systems. Until I can see ratings, I have no other way to determine a player's skill level. There will be exceptions to any rule.

  • @Hoodied said:

    Ranks. Donโ€™t. Matter. Any. More

  • They won't say because they don't want people abusing it ๐Ÿ˜ค

I've said my thoughts on the matter. Also, the amount of times people post how the game is gonna die every month from a new change over the past 2 years and the game seems to actually grow instead makes it really hard for me to be indifferent to these type of posts. We've all had different starts in DBD. There are multiple ways to learn and get better.

If you don't want or care then why reply to me? You are fixated on MMR to be removed. It doesn't matter if it gets tweaked to help, I'm sure the posts will continue for the next month before people stop caring and go back to yelling about tunneling, camping and DS. It's a discussion. I said why it doesn't hurt the game. You said why it does. That's it.

It won't change my perception since I've played for years and never went against "new" killers. I got face camped. I was never mad. Then looping was created on YouTube and I practiced after watching and got better. If the only thing that makes your gaming experience the very best is going against someone who swings at the air a lot, runs into a wall or just face camps you then yes. It'll be terrible for 2 weeks to a month.

Otherwise, not everyone thinks the same way about this game. We all have our own opinions on what causes what to occur. If you keep thinking new players will die one time and just quit, they can refund it.

DUDE, you are STILL being dismissive as hell. Have some damned empathy for the poor bastards getting stomped on right now. This is the one update in the game's history that actually has the potential to stifle it's growth because it punishes new players for being new. Don't tell me you would be hunky-dory alrighty if you just purchased League and just got destroyed every single game by the opposite team over and over while you don't even know how to play. You wouldn't even know what the hell was going on. And I don't need your life story about how you got gud 4 years ago (I was there too). Back then, we were all learning the game together and creating the meta as we went. There were no 4000 hour players back then either.

The rank system we had last week was flawed, sure, but it prevented a lot of older players going against the newer ones.

I'm not saying delete MMR. I'm saying over and over again that there is a PROBLEM with it. A big one. And it needs to be addressed quickly. We can't just say 'ohhh it'll sort itself out in a week or two, give it time.' No, you've already lost a huge chunk of potential new players who aren't going to come back now.

People need time to learn a new game gradually in a forgiving environment. When they've spent enough time learning the basics, then they can decide if they want to get gud or not.

  • @bingbongboi90 said:

You know you can also create a new account then if you want to ruin games from noobs.

This wont happen with mmr because the game see that you are an experienced player.

So mmr fix the problem with smurfs

You can do that now with literally zero effort BECAUSE of the new MMR lol.

How many people are going to go through all of that effort though? You also have zero perks and items to work with. MMR can help with this on paper, but the system is currently flawed.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1511728#Comment_1511728

I was face camped 9/10 matches when I first started DBD. Before looping was a thing and everyone threw pallets down and ran to the next one. I'm sorry that you have to play a few matches until you get a game near your skill level. As least after a few games, it'll start to even out. Better than how I learned initially. They didn't even have tutorials or a training mode. You got thrown in a match and tried to stay alive.

Dude, your entire argument is "just deal with it."

Well guess what? New people who aren't invested in this game aren't going to. They're going to quit. A lot of my friends started quiting when they started getting non-stop frustrating matches against killers they couldn't deal with. Now they can experience that immediately so they can quit 5 games in and not waste their life.

There is a real problem here, and you being dismissive about the issue is counter-productive. It's the game's fault that people aren't being matched correctly, not the player's, and they shouldn't be punished for that.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1511635#Comment_1511635

You do you. I'll still be here loopin' killers like I have for years.

Therein lies the problem. New people who have no idea how to counter loops have to put up with you. Fortunately the devs have appeared to see the light and this will be changed.

Lmfao. And they actually had the audacity to say "the system is able to predict the outcome of matches with extreme accuracy."

Hmmm... 4 rank 20 survivors against a rank 1 killer...

Even I know how that one's going to end.

Mandy was right; she was talking about how long from starting its calculations. It's been working in the background for a while. But if your last games were before that started, and you come back now, it's 10 games for it to settle.

In what world is it okay for people with less than 50 hours to go against people with 4000? Why doesn't this system protect new players?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Yeah just like some people are saying, the game has to figure out a baseline for your skill. So you will get babies in some of your games. because the game needs to figure their skill level as well. After a few days of playing we'll see how things turn out. If the game is still like this a month in then well, we go back to complaining :)

Except it should never allow this. In what world is it okay for new people who don't know how the game works to go against people with thousands of hours??

And supposedly this MMR system has been collecting data for months now. *Months.* Shouldn't it be calibrated already? Even if it's not, the system is clearly, inherently flawed if it does not take something like playtime into account when matching you with people. And what's with the insane disparity between matches? One game survivors are potatoes and the next is seal team six. Why isn't there a gradual increase in difficulty the better you do?

I digress, but my main problem is that this system is clearly f***ing over new people by putting them in the pool with the rest of us and that's not okay. The system is flawed.

  • @Xpljesus said:

PTB should almost certainly be on the 25th. 3 weeks before the 15th of September, which is the day level 4 of the archives releases (and as patterns have shown, level 4 releases the day after the chapter itself)

I think that will be the actual chapter release date. The last two released 98 days apart. PTB is usually 2 weeks before, so September 8th will be the PTB.

  • This would be an improvement but it's not the only problem with Midwich.

Because of the large courtyard in the middle it makes cutting off survivors or B-lining to them impossible. play against anyone using object of obsession on this map you'll see what I mean.

Another issue is the inner area of the school are the long hallways with no barriers. You have to chase people around this NASCAR loop until you eventually catch up. There's also no way to get ahead of the survivor or to cut them off in any way. You have to follow behind them until they make a move.

Every other map, including Lery's and The Game, don't have these issues. Every map is flat and open enough to allow for opportunities to get ahead of the survivor, whereas Midwich has this big 'obstacle' in the middle that needs to be navigated around.

Introducing these changes might help a little bit, but the map is already inherently flawed. Maybe just remove the window dropdowns entirely and just add the four new staircases. Maybe also introduce two or three "intersections" in each long hallway to create opportunities for either side instead of being forced to run in a straight line.

Oh yea, also, delete Object of Obsession :)

  • Imagine SWF squads not using comms ๐Ÿคฃ

I know, right? Imagine someone being so unsure of their skills that they let the four survivors decide their killer choice for them.

Imagine getting consistently surprised by optimal SWF squads and getting screwed over because you weren't paying attention and happened to pick a killer hard-countered by swf.

Imagine having low viability killers in this game.

Imagine playing killer at rank 1.

Obviously you've never had a problem with this because you're some kind of god gamer who can 4k every game with Clown, right?

Are you the same type of person who cries when someone DC's?

It's a self correcting system. If you get a horrible game it'll give you better odds next time.

Is your reading comprehension low or something?

Of course I get ######### annoyed when someone DCs, it throws the whole game. Also, I'm not even talking about DCs I'm talking about lobby dodging ๐Ÿ‘ pay ๐Ÿ‘ attention.

Also also, if want to 'git gud', in this new MMR system, I should throw on OP add-ons or bring an ebony Mori, right? How the ######### do you determine skill in this game with an algorithm when there are literally a million ways to get ######### over?

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

I think its strange people are upset by this. The only thing thats changing is you have to pick your killer prior to searching for a match. It seems like you can still change perks.

My only recommendation to tge devs is to lock items for survivors while theyre at it, maybe 30 secs before match starts.

3 flashlights and you happen to be playing Hag or Wraith.

Obvious SWF and you're playing Trapper or Freddy (high chance of OoO)

There are literally dozens of reasons why I would want to change killers based on what I see in the lobby. I appreciate the individual MMR ratings for each killer, but this is going to create ton of lobby dodging as well.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1462663#Comment_1462663

You could still back out if its that bad ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

    Queue times up you say?

  • On demand, 100% perfect information on the killer whenever you want that can be communicated to your swf group, and gives you full control over the location of the next chase if the killer decides to come after you as well as giving you an insane head-start. Also hard-counters Trapper, Hag, and Freddy. It also has ZERO counterplay unless you happen to playing as a stealth killer or running some niche AF perk like dark devotion.

Also, good luck trying to catch someone with this on Midwich.

Survivors have finally discovered how broken this perk really is and the floodgates are open. I'm surprised it's taken this long tbh. I used to only see it on hyper-optimized 4-man swf, but now it crops up every other game, and it makes playing killer a nightmare.

  • I found that very odd as well, especially since console killers are virtually handicapped compared to PC. Why would you not want to test in the purest environment available, especially since crossplay is imminent? Is the player base smaller on Xbox or something? I don't get it...

  • @ClickyClicky said:

How do you even judge MMR based on all the options in this game?

As survivor facing 2 Huntress of equal skill, does the system differentiate the difficulty if one has mediocre perks and add ons and the other has meta perks, Iri heads and an ebony?

I would doubt it but obviously survivor performance would drop dramatically in one of those games

    This right here.

The amount of assinine random ######### in this game this MMR system needs to account for doesn't give me much faith in its effectiveness. But, I suppose it's better than what we have now, which is nothing.

I guess if you want your rating to go up, just bring an ebony Mori and some OP add-ons!

  • I'm curious to see the actual game environment this will create. High skill matches will probably only contain the most viable killers available (Nurse, Spirit, Huntress, Freddy). Good luck seeing any killer diversity of you have a high rating!

I would also love to know how the MMR system accounts for SWF, since it boosts your chances for survival tremendously. Also what happens if a high rating survivor and a low rating queue together?

  • All I know is that I'm probably going to start dodging lobbies as soon as the killer lock in goes live. There's no way I'm subjecting myself to multiple flashlights whenever I decide to play Hag, or an obvious SWF if I play Trapper. Fortunately killer queues are really fast these days ๐Ÿ™ƒ

  • People have finally discovered just how broken this perk is. I'm surprised it took this long to be honest. I remember a streamer (might have been Otz or Scott) saying something to a similar effect a while back

  • #deleteObject

  • @Veen said:

Reasons why they shoudn't : SWF would never been able to find a game. and probably would be matched with low ranks killer in the end.

and this comes from a SoloQ survivor.

I think most killers don't realize just how many of their games contain a two or three-man team. Dodging every single one would be unrealistic, unless is was the odd 4-man (because those are so rare, *riiiight??*)

If dodging did become a problem however, you could introduce a small time-out penalty for leaving the lobby early. It would still give unconfident killers the ability to opt out and a take the time-out instead.

The ability to get some forewarning on a significant difficulty increase would honestly be a good QoL change. SWF is such a huge advantage, and being surprised by it when you've just been playing casually with your B-tier killers always feels terrible. SWF should get an honest run for their money and not expect to stomp on unsuspecting killers.

  • They can start by removing Object of Obsession. (Gonna keep saying it)

I think introducing an actual penalty for swf might hurt the game too much, so I wouldn't do that.

A lot of people seem to think that if they added an indicator in the lobby for SWF groups, the game would die, but I don't think killers realize that just about every game contains, at the very least, a two or three-man. Dodging lobbies would be an unrealistic venture except for the odd 4-man (because those are rare *riiiight?*)

If I knew ahead of time that I might be in for a more difficult game, I could prepare ahead of time and switch to a proper build on a good killer if they looked experienced. I suppose they could also add a small queue cooldown to discourage dodging if it does become a problem. But, if you really don't feel like dealing with a 4-man, you still have the option to take the penalty and a small time-out.

Honestly though, I don't have a lot of other ideas to bring solo and swf in line without breaking the base game, except making kindred basekit, but that seems like overkill...

  • I just want them to make hair look good.

Every damn cosmetic has the ugliest f*cking goddamn hair I've ever seen, except for some of the older ones. I want my David to wear something other than a cap, but his hair pieces always look so goddamn terrible.

Also I want shorts for him too. Short shorts. Super tight, sexy short shorts that hug his ass. I need it. For science.

  • I'm one of those Killers who actually knows how to play everybody, but does *not* like to play everybody.

I almost never play clown, cannibal, Pig, Myers, Freddy, hillbilly, or Wraith (which is a shame because I have full legacy on him but he's become rather boring to play).

Lately I've been enjoying Pyramid Head, Trapper, Ghosty, and Slinger.

Nurse, Spirit, and Oni are in my back pocket if I feel like a group is SWF or if I want to just obliterate people that day.
