I'm afraid of the new mm. Something tells me it will be worse.

I doubt it will be worse considering that matchmaking right now is sometimes nonexistent. I'm a constant red rank player and I'll get put with brand new people sometimes so any system that tries to match based on skill, even a really bad one will still be better then nothing at all. They should be able to tweak MMR settings a lot more then the current rank system as well so it can only get better in my opinion.

If they do somehow make it worse I don't think it will be all that bad anyway. We're already only an inch above rock bottom so anything worse will be hardly noticeable. I'm hopefully optimistic about all this. Here's hoping it turns out well.

  • Depends on what you classify "hard" for the trophies so I'll mention a few.

Taking one For the Team: Arguably the most grindy trophy in the game and by the time you get this one you'll almost certainly have every other survivor trophy. 250 is stupid and it should either be reduced a metric ton or changed to protection hits in general.

Skilled Huntress: This requires quite a bit of skill with Huntress as well as a massive grind since it's downs and not just hits. Hardest killer trophy to do legit by far, even more so then Evil Incarnate. Could be farmed but will still take a while. Should just be 25 downs and not 100.

Left For Dead: Probably the hardest survivor trophy since they added EGC. Requires a lot of things to go your way to get legit. Highly recommend either doing this with a friend who will purposely die to give you a chance or wait until you get a killer who lets you live when you're the last survivor and hope he lets you do the gens. This trophy should be changed to be the last survivor alive when EGC starts and escape through the exit gates.

Edit: As a tip for Evil Incarnate since I see a lot of people mention it is go to The Game map. I got it first try here when I attempted it. The lockers on that map can be hard to find and it's a lot easier to catch people off guard since they don't know what floor you're on. Play the build normally until you get a group that doesn't gen rush you to hell. Locate the hatch when two are left and slug both while mori'ing the 3rd guy on it. Bring the other guy to the exit gate that has the drop down in the middle. Drop the survivor so he falls while you're still up top and by the time you recover you should be able to get them before they even get to a locker since they will have had to walk around a little. It still requires no DC's and a group that isn't perfect but I think doing it like that makes it a bit easier.

  • Pop has become a perk I use nearly 100% of the time on every killer unless I'm doing a specific build. This is just a figure I'm pulling out of my ass but I'd assume I'd lose about 50% more of my games if I didn't have Pop. Hell, the amount of games where Pop alone has given me victory is insane.

Any kind of 3-gen with Pop becomes a whole new ball game which is how I tend to play most of my matches. Play normally at the start hooking who I can while keeping an eye out for any potential 3 gen and protect that area a bit more than others. When it gets down to two gens left I protect the area super hard. Work on getting all the pallets gone in the area and if I get a hook close I can protect everything at once usually meaning I get a trade and another Pop for free. I've had really good teams where I couldn't even get a hook fall to this strat.

It hardly works every time as really good groups can still push through without a problem but it still lets me win a lot more matches then I otherwise would.

Edit: I don't use it much on Oni though. I like to use the Infectious build and be a lot more aggressive and not care about gens at all.

You can still hear ghostface moving, so I think it makes no difference.

You can try it on a kyf tho.

Okay, Pig then? It's also a lot more crisp farther away as well. Up close at loops sure, the difference is tiny but far away you can see a lot clearer and a bit more then you would otherwise.

The difference is again minimal, but it could still be the difference between spotting something or not.

  • @Khakuate said:

Yeah, let's pretend that survivor is cheating, instead of blaming your lack of skill.

    Stretch res

    Cheating btw

It's minimal but you can definitely see more with stretched res. It could easily be the difference between seeing a crouching Ghostface or not.

  • Because it wastes just that extra little bit of time which can be the difference between teammates finishing a gen or getting pushed off.

It's also pretty funny if the killer hits the locker multiple times.

Honestly I don't enjoy the end game collapse at all, why should it trigger when the hatch is closed? Makes no sense to me at all the killer literally has you as soon as they have closed it...

It's so survivors can't hold the game hostage by hiding for an hour which was a problem. Back when the hatch didn't spawn unless 2 gens were completed, the last survivor would generally just hide as long as they could. If EGC didn't happen when closing the hatch then the hide and seek mini game would return which the majority does not want.

There’s no bias as I play survivor and killer pretty much equally. There’s no good enough reason in the OP scenario for the killer to do that. It’s just plain outright trolling.

Sure but it's hardly worth a ban. If you're going to go that route then survivors that are slugged after the hatch is closed should be banned if they try and hide. After all it's just wasting the killers time.

  • No reason to change your mind. I do the same and the team usually comes to protect them meaning they'll end up throwing the game.

Many of my suggestions have already been written up

One thing I haven't seen is related to the rift - challenges for the rift being able to be changed in-lobby and don't un-ready players when they go into it. And when you're in-game, you see your challenge and it's progress.. so you know you need to kick 4 more gens or stun the killer 2 more times, etc.

Also the ability to see your daily quests when you're searching for a match. Why is it disabled? it baffles me

That is a fantastic one right there. I'd love if they added this, I've gotten plenty annoyed from thinking I finished one of my challenges, daily's but being a little but short. This would be a wonderful addition.

  • Otz is my favorite at the moment, he's pretty chill and fun. I don't really have any I dislike dislike outside of Ochido and Tydetyme when he was doing DBD. I actually like Tyde a lot more now that he's on Resistance. I just found him very hard to watch play DBD.

It's going to be strange choice but of those ones I currently still watch probably Puppers. I don't dislike him by any means but he's just my least favorite of the ones I do watch. It just seems like he tries too hard to be nice and it comes off as if he's forcing himself or just faking it which makes it hard to watch him at times.

This project is totally non profit and we are doing it for the DBD community! Even if they came back and said “ we love all the fan content we see” that’d be awesome. I’d just like to have something that signals go for it, to be safe.. ya know?

It might not be the devs but Mods in your previous posts have shown excitement for it and they at least have a close connection to them. I just think it's going to be hard for them to respond directly to you. Again though, I'm not a lawyer so I could be way off base there. I just don't want to see all this hard work put to a waste because you're concerned about the legality of it and the devs themselves can't say anything about it for the same reason.

  • I don't really know if they could give you the go ahead even if they wanted to. I'm no lawyer or anything but having them give you permission to use their own owned works could open up problems later. I imagine if they did say anything it would be more along the lines of "We appreciate all the fan created content we see!" or just them not saying anything in the first place.

Them not saying anything will probably be the best you're going to get unfortunately. As long as you haven't gotten a Cease and Desist and the project is non-profit I think you're fine.

I would love a build randomizer that automatically selects perks, items, addons and offerings .

Ohhh that'd be really neat. I've used some offsite randomizers before but having one in-game would be a pretty cool addition.

  • It's interesting seeing so many people suggesting a search option. I never really had an issue with finding things where I'd would personally want a search function but it does seem like a nice addition. It's quite nice seeing these other QoL things I've never really thought about.

    @coppersly said:

The struggle mechanic exists purely to limit the killer from getting you into the basement from anywhere on the map. It serves no other real purpose but to pressure the killer into deciding what hook is the most optimal. So on that front it's fine where it is.

Loadouts and searching perks and items/offerings/addons.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1444456#Comment_1444456

The reason I don't think this would work is because then the rarer addons could be much more accessible and then subsequently have to have their power reduced in order to not just have (when they're actually good) pure red addon killers who just recycle all other addons into material for constant red addon games. But as someone who only uses the CD addons on Nurse though I wouldn't mind it because I have to spend so god damn much just to keep them stocked up.

Sorry, I worded that pretty badly but I meant the hook struggle phase not the killer carrying you around one.

Personally, I would love the small refund mechanic more then a crafting one but I don't think a crafting mechanic would be all that bad depending on the costs for each thing. If things were super easy to craft then yeah, that would be a problem but I think having a small system to get rid of a ton of offerings/addons you'll never use in order to get just a few addons/offerings you will would be okay.

Nothing too crazy like an advanced part system but just a simple recycling system like 10 of brown gets you a single yellow of your choosing kind of thing with each color requiring 10 of the previous. I don't think that would be too bad a system and it'd let people get rid of the crap they're never going to use.

    1. Getting at least a hit if a grab went into the void. If the animation starts and the server says: "thats no grab mate!" okay, but it would have been a hit for sure.
    2. Seeing if it was an SWF Post game
    3. A search feature for people to go on comms together (like the overwatch system)
    4. Maybe even a solo survivor modus and a group modus.
    5. Pig not seeing jigsaw boxes
    6. If someone DCs in the loading screen survivor get the escaped sound. Killers get the entity displeased sound wich triggers me personally. So maybe they should add a match canceled sound
    7. A system that filters foul language and actually silences people if they have gone to far in the post game chat. If you get death threats its no fun, these people should be silenced by BHVR.

I definitely agree with number 2. I think being able to see who was in a SWF would be a nice little addition for survivor and killer both. As someone who plays solo now and then I think it'd be neat to know if my teammates were a group or not. Number 1, 6 and number 7 are also ones I wouldn't mind seeing.

  • Lord no. Tombstone piece is already one of his best addons if you don't care about points and just want to end the game and having no counter at all besides pallets/windows (kind of) would be god awful.

    5. A complete rebalancing of addons/offerings/perks across all characters

I guess that last one is a bit involved...

I completely forgot about the refund/craft one. Me and my buddy talk about that one all the time and is another I'd personally kill for. Those would all be neat additions I think though.

I can't vouch for 0 things period, but from everything I've been able see so far he literally doesn't have any problem with the current game as a whole. No problems with maps, no problems with killers, no problem with gen speeds, ect. All topics that'd spark a large debate with most other people he thinks are totally fine.

And you think that makes him unbiased?

  • @FootMan2893 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1444123#Comment_1444123

I think i made myself perfectly clear. There's a man who stands against negative opinions of DBD like a lone wall holding back the tidal currents of a typhoon. Ever steadfast and unwavering. But even this man, this legend of indomitable spirit, this absolutely insane in the membrane bro, still thinks the changes are a negative and unnecessary. Unlike those who have come before him he does NOT think hillbilly will end up gutted, but will definitely lose his fun gameplay.

The point is that I honestly don't think it'd be humanly possible to get a more unbiased and well weighted opinion from a top killer than this.

I don't know who you're talking about but if they've never had anything bad or negative to say about this game in all the time it would take to p3 everyone then I would hardly say they're unbiased. In fact I would say they're biased in the opposite direction; that BHVR can do no wrong which is just as bad as people who get mad at everything they do.

  • Hmmm, honestly I think you both have a point. As a killer looking around for the last slug after the hatch is closed is super boring and kind of pointless. You've already won the game and are just playing hide and seek at that point.

As survivor it's just kind of a last second ######### you to the killer. There's no way you can get out anymore and are just trying to waste as much of the killers time as you can.

I don't think he's entitled at all. I think you both just have different playstyles.

  • @metalklok said:

i wonder if the devs sent them a cease and desist or something because wamps said it was ready to premier soon.

Could be, though it does seems strange. The devs have shown to love fan made content and you'd think if they were going to send a Cease and Desist they would have did it back when they first announced this considering how big that thread was. Heck, there was even a couple mod responses showing excitement.

If it was something internal I could understand the cancellation with so little details but this is just weird. Still, if it is just a CnD I wouldn't be surprised if it got leaked eventually considering it's probably done or at least close and the amount of people involved in the project.

  • I've had it happen once as well. One of the biggest reasons I consider this map to be the most killer sided map is because this can happen and even when the map does 3 on each side with one in the middle, you can still just hold one side and make it hard as hell. This map with pop and a 3+ gen strat is so frustrating as a survivor. Fun as hell as killer though.

  • I disagree. I think Myers and Demo are the two most balanced killers in the game.

Demo has a little bit of everything while not being overly oppressive in any way so that it feels unfair. He's also one of the funnest killers to go against. I think he's the Gold standard when it comes to killers.

Myers is also very balanced as long as he's not using his best add-ons. Infinite tier 3 and tombstone piece are incredibly strong and don't take all that much stalk when combined with a memorial. Outside of those add-ons he has a good back and forth with the survivors as well as multiple ways that he can be played which makes him a lot of fun to play as and to go against. Also a gold standard when it comes to killers.

Deathslinger is way too strong in the 1v1 for me to consider him the most balanced. There are so many little tricks you can do around pallets that it sometimes feels unfair. It's not much different then Pyramid Head or Huntress where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't which I don't think represents balance. I think survivors and killers should both have equal options when going against each other.

You completely missed my point. But go ahead and tell new players they should expect to spend $60 to get yelled at in their first game. That'll really grow the playerbase.

There are plenty of gaming communities out there that are supportive and aren't absolute jerks to each other in chat. Why do we keep pretending like the DBD community can't improve? Oh right because we want to continue being garbage human beings to each other. Yeah that'll really bring the community together. Bunch of garbage sitting at the bottom of a dump.

Would you rather me lie and say "This community is different from all those other games and you will find nothing but kind and supportive people here and the experience you had was nothing but an outlier!" Because I think that would only make things worse when they come to realize that isn't true.

Also, would you care to restate your point then because I'm not entirely sure what it is? Is it that we as a community can be better and more supportive than we currently are? Because while that is an optimistic viewpoint it's also rather unrealistic in a wider sense. It's like saying youtube comments don't have to be a cesspool of random bullshit. Sure, as an individual you can be nicer and more supportive to people but it's not that easy to change an entire community for the better, not to mention that DBD has pretty varying communities in the first place from the forums, reddit, streamers, even twitter. Saying that all these communities can change for the better simply won't happen and I see no reason to pretend they can. People will be ######### and there is nothing you, me, or anyone else can do about it.

Also also, I think I was being supportive in my initial comment. I gave him some solid advice to turn off any chat and mute mics in future games he plays since it seems like he doesn't deal with toxicity very well and almost every multiplayer game in existence will have some form of toxic people in it. I even said that I hope he gives DBD another shot after turning off messages as well.

Sure, I could have babied my words more but I see no reason to. The quicker someone realizes that online video games will have toxic people the quicker they'll be able to learn how to deal with it or simply move on to something else they can find enjoyment in.

  • @Terra92 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1422429#Comment_1422429

I think it's a terrible way to represent the game if you see a rank 20 and go "yeah he deserves to be completely ridiculed for not playing the game," and not "damn it sucks the system gave you this as one of your first games, but matchmaking is sometimes garbage."

It doesn't matter if every multiplayer game out there has people who act like garbage human beings, it doesn't excuse their behavior or the lack of positive feedback to newer players.

I never said it did? In fact I said the person that was calling him names was in the wrong and they certainly are. I'm also saying that if someone quits a game after a single toxic message then they should probably avoid multiplayer games in general. It doesn't matter the game you play, you're going to have toxic people in it.

  • If you're going to be like that then where exactly is all your evidence in the main post with everything you said? I don't see any screenshot of what happened to your friend and of them refunding the game, I don't see any stats or screenshots showing DBD to be some toxic waste plant of a game.

I don't see any evidence of the devs endorsing toxicity.

I don't see any evidence where this game is for people not trying to have legitimate fun.

All I see are your words and nothing else and since personal experiences apparently aren't good enough, I need to see some hard evidence (not cherry picked) of all your claims otherwise what's the point in this conversation right?

  • What so you mean? Have you played other multiplayer games that have chat or a mic system? I used to play on minecraft serves quite a bit when I was younger and the amount of kids that'll write crap to you is insane. CoD is full of people screaming at each other and every other PvP shooter game I've played has been pretty much the same but to a lesser degree. Hell even games like Destiny which I played for a while, you can do raids together and people get really pissed off at you if you don't know the steps, have bad gear or it's your first time. I actually quit Destiny because the raid system was so crap (mainly) and people would freak out over the least little thing (secondary).

If you're looking for actual pictures or videos or something I have none. I don't know about you but I don't actively keep videos or screenshots of people getting mad in video games. Heck even in DBD where I enjoy salty messages I'll delete them after a couple days.

  • He probably would be but he isn't due to him having the shirtless cosmetic. It gives you a secret passive intimidation buff which really helps him out.

Not even joking, I've had killers ignore me because they assumed I was a god tier looper in a 4-man swf. I've also had people tunnel me because of it and either way that means you're probably going to get out or you're going to be getting more experience in chases which will make you a better player. Win-win.

  • While the other person is certainly in the wrong here, if your friend quit after one toxic message then I think they should stick to single player games or just be sure to mute everyone and close any kind of chat games have. Every multiplayer game has it's share of people screaming at you if you do even the tiniest thing wrong or people just looking to troll or mess around with others.

In all honesty DBD is pretty normal, tame even when it comes to toxicity. There are certainly a lot worse games out there when it comes to toxic stuff like Minecraft, PvP shooters, sports games, fighter games the list goes on and on. DBD toxicity is kind of on the lower end of the spectrum when compared to stuff like that. Of course you'll have people that go above and beyond but so does every game out there.

I hope your friend finds some games they can enjoy and maybe even give DBD another shot and simply turn off messages/notifications. ^_^

  • Rather then an entire mechanic change I'd rather see something similar as a perk instead. I think it'd be kind of neat.

Actually I do add to the conversation by bring light of one big issue with this game and it's toxic community - making examples of your posts that added nothing to the conversation except only to insult the OP, and ignore him. While all OP did was suggest that Killer's that are finding the game a toxic cesspool that will never be helped, to speak with their money and leave the game because that's the only way BHVR will listen.

All the while you just tell OP to leave, on his post of him saying he was leaving the game. At the same time making assumptions about them.

But good job trying to twist your words into something - anything even, you're not very good at manipulation, you've proved nothing but being toxic hypocrite, and are apart of the big problem with the game and it's community. Good day.

Yes, I am incredibly toxic by showing my disagreement with the fact OP is telling other people to quit a game because of his issues with it. I also appreciate that you've actually elaborated a bit on your problems with me and the other people this time though. Your first post was literally nothing but "these people are bad!" without giving reason as to why which makes it hard to have any kind of conversation.

Also, there is literally no reason to attack me here and you seem to be making pretty big assumptions on me as well. I don't understand why you're so hurt over such a minor statement of mine and that you think I'm trying to be manipulative or some ######### with alt account up-voting. My first post on the thread here was literally saying I hope he finds a game he can enjoy but he shouldn't come on the forums telling other people to leave because of his own personal problems with it. I don't see how that's toxic.

Could I have maybe worded it to be a little nicer like Boosted_Dwight? Sure but I don't see any reason to. Posts like these are a dime a dozen with alt accounts, people not actually leaving or people just trying to stir the pot. For all you know it could be an alt account of mine and I'm just fishing for drama. Either way if OP really is done with the game then it makes no difference what any of us say here. He will have already moved on and again, I hope he finds something more his style.

The main thing though is that there is a big difference between being toxic and simply disagreeing with what someone is saying. I disagree heavily with pretty much everything OP said in that wall of text; that does not make me toxic. I'm not calling OP names or saying he just needs to get stronger emotionally or any of that other crap. He had issues with the game and told people to bail on it because of that which I don't think people should do. It's up to each individual to make that decision, even if they are in similar circumstances as OP.

Examples of toxic people that should of been banned from the game through the report system long ago - right here.

Like if you're a person that can make this kind of comment. You're apart of the problem that BHVR has needed to fix a along time ago. Including the ones upvoting these kinds of comments. (If you can even count the upvotes, because we all know more than half of these kinds of people use alt acc's to upvote themselves in threads)

Care to actually elaborate on why mine and these two other comments are bad and why we should be banned because right now you've added nothing to the conversation.

I also stick by my entire statement no matter what you have an issue with. Telling someone to quit a video game because they themselves dislike it is dumb. This dude is also having mental issues over a video game and that tells me he should move on from it and find something more his own pace. It's obviously not for him.

He also only has one post, supposedly has over 1000 hours and wrote a wall of text. My money is OP is someones alt and they're just looking for a laugh. In fact I'm sure they've enjoyed the responses thus far.

  • That's the problem with that site is it gets all messed up. Monstrous Shrine was a top perk at one time lol.

  • Going off the video it seems like Billy's saw overheats a little too quickly but other than that I have no real issue with it. I'll wait till the PTB to watch people so I can see how the add-ons effect it and whether or not the overheat will be changed to be a bit more forgiving.

Until then I'm not going to make any extreme judgments. If they do nothing then Billy will have probably gotten the Nurse treatment. Still a top tier but nerfed with fun value taking the biggest hit.

  • No. I feel perfectly fine playing the game and so do a lot of others. I'm also not the first that will say this but paragraphs my dude.

The game isn't right for you and that is fine and dandy; I hope you find a game you can enjoy but telling other people to quit because you yourself dislike it is stupid. It's no different then health nuts that freak out on people eating fast food. Move on and let people who enjoy the game enjoy it.

  • It's okay to camp at 5 gens at the beginning of game. It's not fun for either party IMO and probably get you hate messages but it's still fine. Play the way you want as long as it's within the rules.

As a direct answer yes it is fine. There's not much else to do then defend your kill and hope people get altruistic. Unless you know people aren't by the gates and you can get them leaving the hook means everyone will get out.

  • I'm more curious if it's going to show Knock Out being applied when you down them as you could use it as a sort of Infectious/Whispers baby which would be kinda neat. Not strong or anything but neat.

  • Probably a bug along with lag. I saw the same thing happen to a person in my game.

They had another bug in the game as well where when they tried to heal me, it would freeze up, give them silent skill checks and I only got heal progress if they hit greats. It was pretty funny actually as my friend who was already killed was watching the entire thing.

  • Ima guess something to do with Pyramid head and the "nerf". I feel like that'll be talked about for a few days especially after popular youtubers/streamers weigh-in on it.
