  • Um. I have a little sh!thead build I use sometimes. It's not my intention to ruin anyone's fun with it, but Red Herring, Quick and Quiet, and Head On. It honestly probably hurts my team since I spend the whole time just screwing around but it's so fun when I get that occasional locker stun. Most of the time I don't though, since the Red Herring sends them over to the gen and away form my locker. BUT SOMETIMES ITS REALLY FUNNY

Half the killers in the game suck on indoor maps. You might think that there's just a few of those maps so it's no big deal, but really they come up surprisingly often. Even with just 1 variation each, I see Lery's, Hawkins, and Midwich about as much as all the other maps combined. It's infuriating how depending on what killer you are, these maps can make or more importantly break you. Huntress, Hillbilly, Blight, Nurse. They just suck on these maps. Survivors have to absolutely throw for you to make any sort of debt against them, because you're deprived of your ability for half the match.

Maybe the game should say what map you're going to on the loading screen, because I don't want the DC penalty but I can't see what map it is until I'm already in the game!

    P.S. No more indoor maps!!!

I hate indoor maps too as both a survivor main and when I play killer. They just aren't fun.

This is how I completed the challenge👆🏽

All 3 in less than 30sec

Must fall from a great height 3x in the same trial while being chased. As long as you hear the intense chase music like in the vid, you’ll receive credit on a great fall.

You don’t have to trigger Balanced Landing 3x’s, you just have to have the perk equipped.

    https://youtu.be/InPg1k_zmlM

Incase you were curious how the match ended👆🏽

Yeah I knew I didn't have to use Balance three times, it was just an easy way for me to keep track of how many times I did fall for sure. But since I didn't know what counted, it wasn't.

  • I tried that! For some strange reason, killers seem really reluctant to chase me as soon as they realize I have balanced on that map...

That's bhvr consistency for you. Funny how on coldwind drops from harvester ramp or hay bale count but if you drop from the second window which has a higher drop does not

I guess I'll just have to run it for a few hours and hope eventually they give me credit for it.

as far as I can tell, hills dont count, dropping into basement does count, dropping from top floor building on haddonield counts, dropping in badham schoolcounts, dropping off the harvesters on Coldwind maps doesnt

Thanks! I was on one of the Crotus Prenn maps and I definitely used a hill at least once. Could have been twice.

I had to deal with bullies a lot when I was a kid. You know how I dealt with them? I beat the ######### out of them. In this game I have to tolerate it which pisses me off to no end. So yes I take it personally when someone takes it upon themselves to ruin my game. I am asking for constructive ways to deal with said bullies in a way that does not involve me quitting playing the game, which I otherwise have fun with. Your response is the exact opposite of what I asked for so your opinion has been disregarded.

You sound like you need to talk to a professional.

  • They're both fun to go against for the same reason as a survivor main. I wish I saw more of them.

  • @SaltyNooty said:

So, to keep it short; the killer isn't straight face camping but they're terror radius camping. Its like they won't face camp you, but they won't let you out of their terror radius.

For the record, this isn't a strat; it's a crutch, muchlike NOED. This usually leads to tunneling, Slugging, and or straight face camping when the killer fails. I don't know why people call it a strat to win if you have to resort to camping yo get a kill; it's lowkey pathetic if you have to resort to that. It's not every day that I see people tunneling, face camping, or just going so low just to get a kill but its the ones who do that get really get me.

Usually, I see that in lower ranks and that's very often. I haven't been running into NOED often but I HAVE been running into campers and tunnelers. For the record, it doesn't make you any less of a bad killer if you have to resort to camping and tunneling to get your precious 4k; and no, again, it's not a strategy to win, it's a crutch.

A strategy is a plan something THAT you think up and roll out. To getting a better definition; this is what the dictionary says.

Strategy - Noun - a plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim.

Camping does NOT fall under this pretext because you didn't plan it out, you just said "Okay, so I suck or I want my 4k so I'll resort to just making the game unfun for everyone and get what I want." That's right, I'm calling ya out on it. So, don't try to call it a strat.

Back to my main focus, Terror Camping. Yeah, so this lowkey ain't really fun for many because if you don't have deliverance; you're screwed. It basically says "That's right, I'm camping and i'll slug you if you Come any closer." This apparently works out with killers like myers, ghost face and stealth killers in general. This leads to the survivor being put in the second phase, The team rushing the killer, the survivor gets tunneled and it's an easy kill for the killer; again, not a strat, it's a crutch. I've seen people DC from this either because that killer is tunneling them and has a Mori, or because they were basically tunneled the whole game. *Not fun.* Can we work to avoid doing this?

Well, whatever you want to call it, I just with my fellow survivor mains used it as an opportunity to gen rush and leave that killer to their 1k.

    I’m so over this crap!!

    Match starts.

    Take a few steps.

    Try to get my bearings.

    Hear the TR.

Still trying to get my bearings AND now try and see WHERE the friggin killers is so I KNOW where I can/can’t hide.

Too late, spotted before I have my bearings.

    15 to 30 seconds haven’t even passed.

I really don’t care what the majority consensus is, when this happens to me I just take it and hook suicide. Chases will never be my strong suit, so starting matches like this is just not fun. Not one bit. And matches are more frequently starting like this lately, and it’s completely pissing me off.

Killers, look, I get it. It’s not fun for you when you don’t even spot a survivor before 1, 2, or even 3 gens pop.

But THIS: the extreme OPPOSITE kinda crap isn’t fun for survivors either. Quite frankly it’s BS!!!

Most people are bad at chase, but there are absolutely things you can do to get better at chase if you want to. When I started playing, I was like, I could be a Claudette like everyone else and just hide, but I want to actually get into chase and learn the game. I get caught a lot at the start of the game too, and I don't mind because I know chances are, I'm the best person at chase out of the whole team. As a survivor, being good at DBD is being good at being chased. It's not about hiding and repairing gens. I'd recommend watching youtube videos or catching some survivor main streams so you can see how it's done.

  • @eiredrake said:

So I'm playing Pyramid head, wait like 10 minutes to actually get some people. I get in and there's two claudettes and a Nea and they decide to come after me with flashlights. Positioning themselves so there's not much I can do any way I turn I get flashlighted. I'm an average player, not some DbD diety or anything like this. The fact that these dickheads decide to take it upon themselves to ruin my game really pisses me off.

My own personal feelings is when douchey players come for me no amount of me playing decent against them is going to matter. Even disconning isn't going to do anything because they're still going to do what they're going to do. So I move to a wall, tilt my head up so flashlights don't bug me and refuse to play. I'm not going to play the 'lets gang up on the killer' game. If you're going to make my game miserable then I'm going to make yours as boring as possible.

Even then, the three of them come after me and start dancing around like morons, clicking their flashlights and jumping in and out of lockers and running across the barbed wire to be irritating and spam me with explosions and notifications.

We're not on the playground in 5th grade so I can't actually punch these ######### so that's about all I is refuse to play along. I'm curious as to what you guys do when people are dead set on ruining the game with antics like this. How do YOU handle these situations.

and for reference I'm looking for "you should grow a thicker skin" or "suck it up" other such bullshit you can keep that to yourself. And no I'm not taking it personally. I just find it aggravating. I paid to play this game just like everyone else and ######### like this really needs to stop.

It 100% sounds like you're taking it personally.

People click flashlights and teabag to get a response from the killer. No one can control how you react to these things except for you. If you personally feel like there is no way for you to counter people with flashlights, why do you let it bother you? I genuinely think you should play another game if this is such a problem, and I'm not trying to be nasty here. If the game isn't fun, don't play

  • @JoeyBob said:

Lately about 50% of my games are against farming killers, perhaps because the new DLC is near. I don't want to ######### farm, I want to play the ######### game, so I'm either stuck not playing the game for like 10 min as I try and rush gens and avoid the farming killer or I DC and still have to wait either way.

    The DC penalty is trash.

I've also had tons of farming killers lately. I assume it's because the Tome is so grindy. I got two DC penalties the other day because I had two different games where teammate decided to block me in a corner when I was cleansing a totem. Meanwhile my survivor queue times can take 15 minutes without any penalty. I also played killer today to work on challenges and had survivors DC in 5 out of my 6 games. Glad that penalty is working so well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did you even bother to read the post?

  • @danielmaster87 said:

They're literally so stupid. You can potentially cheat out 8 hook states, and that just shouldn't be possible. The green and yellow moris can stay, but ebonies are completely game breaking. DS, the strongest perk in the game, won't even save you from it if you don't find a locker in time. If a killer's good they will simply power through Borrowed to get the down and mori off first hook. They don't even have to camp the hook, that's just being toxic. They're getting insane value just from hooking a survivor, because the next time the survivor gets downed they're dead. It's legalized cheating. Unless you're a red rank, coordinated SWF who are matched with a dumb enough killer that will chase and hook all 4 people before moriing anyone, there is no overcoming an ebony mori. Before anyone says it, yes keys are dumb too and should be removed. But the point is that something this incredibly broken and game swinging should never have been in the game in the first place.

Ebony moris break the game, period. They do not even compare to keys. It's sad they haven't been removed yet.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the map, its pretty ok a fun map... very... very unique. It feels like it was pulled from another game. Like maybe Zelda or Assassin's Creed? Like they sat down and said 'Ok, this map isn't gonna be anything creepy or strange like a tingle building in the middle of ######### nowhere, its just gonna be a straight up old western town pulled right out of Gunsmoke or some other old western show.

Oh and we're gonna spam a SHITTON of breakable walls all over it!

I hate that the sun is rising. Or is it setting? Either way, I hate it. Every time I'm on that map, I just stare at it angrily and think it has no place in DBD. It is a very unique map though.

  • I'm a survivor main so my killer is rank 20. When I actually get fair match making, most survivors are too terrified to do anything but Spine Chill and Urban Evade. Zero snoot boopage. Tragic. I'm just trying to have some fun when I play killer. I never sweat it.

  • @DrewpyCheekz said:

It's happened several times to me today, just started happening. Does anyone else have this issue? When you enter struggle phase on a hook and start mashing the button (I'm on ps4) it just kills you, you don't get any points, and your character model turns invisible but leaves just the hair. A lot of games I've played today, other survivors in the game will be hanging on the hook, not killing themselves with attempts or anything, then will just die as soon as they enter struggle. It's happened to me about 4 times today, and people I play with are consistently failing to struggle.

I did turn into hair today once on the PS4 but I think I was dead anyway? Or I wanted out so I didn't even notice that it didn't let me struggle.

And it just gets exhausting to play a killer you enjoy, try to play fair (so NO tunneling, no camping, no noed, no mori, no slugging) and yet you get all sort of crap from survivors just for playing him.

Has anyone left the community because they are not allowed to play a certain character, deathslinger or otherwise?

because if yes, this community has a massive problem...

You're not allowed to play a certain killer just because some survivors don't like it? Dude, why didn't anyone tell me I could will boring Ghostface out of existence.

3 matches in a row, I've gotten red and/or purple ranked Survivors, matched with Survivors near my rank. Each time, the wait times were short, so it's not the "not enough Survivors in your area" argument. I can't progress any further, and even though I'm getting over 15k blood points each time, it's never fun.

I don't think these people deserve their blood points OR their rank, if this is how they play. It's absolutely pathetic.

Did something change, because I've had about seven friends try this game and they all quit because match making so heavily favored the killer it was unplayable. We'd have one red/purple survivor and three grey ranks vs a red/purple killer. We couldn't' even get two gens done most games and I am not exaggerating when I say they all quit the game because of it.

This isn't salt, but if you're not having fun, stop playing the game. I see so many killers say they aren't having fun and the game is stressful for them, etc. Why are you playing a game that's not fun?

  • @MythMage said:

I think it would be OK for the game, but killer in and of itself is already insanely hard. If we were to make it easier, that killer would be OP, or it would reduce the killer's effectiveness, making them UP.

For example, Freddy is an example of a killer who is slightly overtuned, but is sooo easy. He's also, according to most of the community, the most boring killer for both sides.

Then we have Pig, whom's power is very straightforward and easy to use, but is arguably the worst killer in the game.

I don't think they made a single "easy" killer that was actually good.

A noob killer vs noob survivors isn't insanely hard by any means. I think and have always thought the game is much easier on the killer side for beginners. Fair matchmaking though? That's the real problem.

I run devour hope almost every time i play killer because I find it to be more entertaining and a way to make me not camp on hook. i have to get put of range for my stack. rarely see dcs because of the penalty. look at it this way, your making them dc, forcing a penalty on then. Thats even better than a mori. you moried them so hard they got a time out

I play on console and I waited 15 minutes the other day before I quit and played another game entirely.

  • @Komi said:

I've seen it happen with Obsessions when Rancor is used. I will never understand what makes getting mori'd worse than dying on hook, its just a different death animation.

Most of the time to get out of a game you have to be downed, hooked, downed, hooked, downed, hooked. That's six steps. With a mori, you have to be downed, hooked, and downed. Only three. While I'm sure there are some killers who only use moris on the third hook, the vast majority tunnel each person out of the game as soon as they can. That's not "just a different death animation."

  • That's how I feel about self-care as well.

Those "complete this in a single trial"-challenges are the most annoying and most "unhealthy", especially the harder ones that come mostly in the later levels. If you play a regular match with a regular mindest in higher ranks they are very difficult to achieve.

I don't think it's healthy for this game to intentionally throw matches because some survivors need to force events that aren't common (like finish 2 gens in the terror radius of the killer). The game is already full of randomness and chaos if you play solo q, now survivors who do strange challenges make it even harder to win for the people who play "serious".

On the other hand, stuff like "hook 20 survivors", "do 10 generators", "use 3 med kits" is kinda boring too and you don't have to do anything to achieve this other than to play the game regularly.

Btw i achieved that challenge with windows of opportunity and then, as i already suggested, just threw the game and lured the killer to pallets. I also needed like 4 or 5 matches because many killers just respect pallets or i died before i could even throw 3 pallets...

I agree that these challenges are unhealthy for the game. I think the entire tome is, actually. They're why I completely quit playing after the first one came out. As a solo survivor, the game was just unplayable. Game after game, people just threw for the challenges. I've just come back to see if I could get back into the game after months away. I switched challenges a bit and was working on silver emblems, so I of course got a killer who was farming. The next game was a garbage Bubba though so I got two over the course of the game, and then decided to kill myself to get the last stun instead of even trying to escape. I was the last one alive so I didn't hurt my teammates at all. It's just madness to me that if you want to play normally, a single challenge can take 15 hours or more. I've never come across that in any battleplass for any game I've played.

  • @Kebek said:

Take self care and all other healing perks (botany etc) + best healing speed medint or pink instaheal (or both together) hope for M1 killer without instadown potencil etc who has to use M1 to hit you so you (clown, wraith etc) just stand on top of the pallet and when they hit you you throw it on them trading it.

Do that 3 times either after getting hooked or in same chase if you can squzee time to heal mid or or uses instaheal.

That's at least how I plan to do it, it's going to be one of the last challenges I do as it's annoying one.

I had been getting TONS of killers who were farming but as soon as I got to this challenge, they have all disappeared. You're not wrong it's annoying. I"m sure there will be a "stun with pallet four times" later in the tome though.

I agree that it doesn't help. This thread is full of people telling me I deserved it. Meh, I'll honestly probably just quit the game again, this time permanently. People still DC all the time. More people die on first hook. My queue times are as long as they've ever been. I had a game today where the same guy went down first and killed himself on first hook immediately. How is that any better than someone who dc's unintentionally? It helps killers get BBQ stacks, it doesn't improve the gameplay for anyone.

At least the people complaining about the game crashing causing them a DC have a legitimate reason to complain...

The game was over. I wasn't salty. I wasn't trying to steal any killer's BBQ stacks. People still DC on purpose. People still kill themselves on first hook when they want out. The queue is long. I don't see how banning people makes a game healthier.

I´ve reached rank 1 Survivor for the first time recently. I casually ranked up while doing tome challenges and decided to finally really commit and get that achievement.

It was a hell of a journey for me. I thought why not share some things I picked up along the way, for anyone interested:

DISCLAIMER: All my matches were on Steam, Soloq, EU servers, mostly late at night and early in the mornings. The build I went with 9/10 matches was Borrowed Time, Kindred, Unbreakable, Dead Hard and a Medkit (browns till rank 2, then the good stuff with great addons). I hovered at rank 2 for about 5 days playing Survivor almost exlusively until I finally double pipped to rank 1. I´ve played Survivor before, but never with a strong ambition to actually improve and do well. This reflects my personal experience, nothing more and nothing less. Currently sitting at 1550 hrs.

    1) Most Killer players aren´t that good

This is something that really baffled me. Even Rank 1 Killers don´t try to mindgame tiles at all for the most part (or do so very poorly). The difference between an average and a good Killer is very significant. For me, a mediocre Survivor at best, it was very easy to run jungle gyms and LT walls until entity blocker kicked in and then drop the pallet almost every match. Many players are easily fooled by leaving a tile while out of LOS, even without Iron Will. Many Killers will take chases they shouldnt, like a cow tree next to a gym next to a strong main building, or Disturbed Ward center bulding. As long as no one is running around throwing every pallet instantly, ressource management is not a huge concern for the most part. It seems in this context the statement that "Survivors have it easy" definately holds true.

    2) There is not much Killer variety in the high ranks

The overwhelming majority of Killers I encountered were Pheads, Slingers, Spirits, Huntresses and Blights. Many Killers I never came across, and some very rarely. In my case, this was a blessing since adequately counterplaying every Killer is a skill in itself, and something I´m not confident in doing properly vs every Killer yet.

    3) Spirit is extremely frustrating to verse

This is of course beating a dead horse, but the whole team getting absolutely wrecked by Spirits every match was something I didn´t expect to this extend. It seems it takes some serious skill advantage over the Spirit player to stand a fighting chance, with great Spirit players being nigh impossible to beat. I have yet to discover a way to fight her properly...

    4) 4 Escapes happen frequently

In my little anecdotal experience, a 4E is rather common against most low to mid tier Killers and even Onis (I came across a few, none got a single Sac). It goes without saying that 4Ks happen often too, everything in between was the exception. There have been a few incidents of 1Ks due to NOED, but not many.

    5) Killer toxicity does exist

It was pretty rare, but there were Killer players talking ######### in post game chat, facecamping for no reason, and tunneling off hook. The worst offenders on my way were definately Bubba and GF players in this regard. I wonder why I, as Killer, never get any appreciation for not using tactics that a Survivor may or may not consider "scummy". In the 100+ games it took me to get from rank 8 to rank 1, maybe a handful of Killers didn´t act "nice".

    6) Teammates

It seems to be either heaven or hell. It´s not very pleasant to see a Survivor selfcaring in the corner with 1 team member on the hook, 1 chased and 1 slugged. Using Kindred every game helped, but I died on first hook in many matches despite the fact. The main reason for losing games was less due to the Killer doing good, but the Survivors doing poorly. I´m guilty of throwing games as well of course. Overall, making the right calls at the right time seems to be something many Survivors really struggle with, feeding the Killer pressure and Kills they just don´t deserve. It´s easy to get agitated as Survivor when your teammates (seemingly or for real) let you down.

On the other hand, good Survivors really shine, and there are quite many in EU late at night. It feels awesome pulling off flashlight- or pallet saves with a bunch of randoms. It was less pleasant to see my team mates trashtalk the Killer almost every match though, regardless of the outcome.

    7) Skillful Survivor moves take serious skill

Effectively faking vaults, spinning (I suck at it) and moonwalking are way harder to pull off than I expected. Whilst playing Killer, it looks so effortless, but I´ve found new appreciation for these kinds of actions. The Survivors put themselves at great risk while doing these and I can respect a player for successfully pulling them off. Another thing that deserves credit is chaining tiles in an efficient manner even with bad map RNG. Again, it looks so easy from the Killers POV but in practice it seems challenging to pull off for extended periods of time.

I still consider myself a Killer main but the Survivor share will grow in my playtime for sure. Now I only have 4 achievements left to do, looking forward to having 100% soon :)

As a solo queuer, the biggest threat to me is always my teammates. The killer is supposed to do damage, yet game after game, it's the teammates who do the worst. That and game-breaking ebony moris. I'm kinda shocked they're still in the game. I've gone from 7 back to 10 in one day because of the constant ebony moris.

  • @Moundshroud said:

You do you, but I'm sure the vast majority of Killers dropping you at the gate are doing it to be nice. They closed the hatch for the points but still decided to let you leave. I suppose there are a sickos out there that would do what you describe but it has not been my experience. When I take someone to the gate, and wait for them to wiggle out it is so they can then open the door and leave.

Are you console or PC? No salt here, genuine question. I can't remember the last time a killer let me go. How often do they drop me near the hatch just to close it and then mori me? Fairly often. I'm with OP - I don't even bother anymore. It's not fooling me, and I'd rather just get on to the next game already.

I don't see why you'd want to hide all game anyway because there are more rewards and points available for having chases. Or maybe they all earn their boldness points for cleansing totems...

I don't know why they'd want to hide the whole game either but they do. People see a win as a win, even if they only get 9,000 BP. I'd personally never go to a haunted house and then sit in the parking lot because I was too petrified to move, but that's Blendettes for ya.

It's funny how in the recent survey there's a question about players wanting to have selective cross platform, and there's already an option to turn off cross platform, due to players feeling disadvantaged before they even get into a match. That's good and all, but how come that logic doesn't carry over to SWF? We've been asking for a SWF disable button way before cross platform was even a concept for this game. You're disadvantaged from the get-go, and it's less fun and more stressful (for one side of course).

I'm tired of matches where my decisions and skill are meaningless up until I have to face camp someone to hopefully get a 1k. That's where the gameplay starts for killer, when it comes to SWF. Until you close the gap between solo and SWF which everyone has been asking for, killers are gonna want SWF nerfed or have a disable button for them.

At least let us disable matchmaking with 4-man teams. I can't put into words how rage inducing it is to not only deal with all the game's problems (bugs, gen speed, meta perks, bad maps), but also to deal with survivors who, in theory, will not allow you to kill even one of them if they can help it. If you need a mori or an A tier killer to make it feel like a level playing field, something is seriously wrong with the game.

As many times as I've said it, no I won't quit the game today. But I might some day, because at some point people like me are gonna overcome our love for the game, and stop playing for the sake of our own mental health. Is that worth protecting the *institution* of SWF?

Video games should be fun. That's the point. If you're worried about your mental health from playing a video game, STOP. I hated what the rift did to the game for me as a solo survivor. It destroyed the game. I quit for months. I just came back three or four days ago to see if things were any better.

For every killer complaining about SWFs, I have to laugh. I've had six or seven friends try to play this game over the last maybe 18 months. They've all quit, because SWF is such a miserable experience if you're not all at the same skill level. One red rank survivor with three yellows vs a red rank killer is miserable. We could play for HOURS and not once even get two gens done. Weird how killers never mention that.

"Is that worth protecting the *institution* of SWF?" People want to play games with their friends. Whether it's DBD or Apex or any other game. If you remove SWF, less people will be playing. It's not about bullying a killer. It's about wanting to have fun with friends.

  • I stopped playing the game for months and just came back a few days ago. I DC'ed on a game in Hawkins when two teammates decided to pin me in a corner right off the bat as I searched for totems. Of course I deserved a penalty for leaving a game like that!

I can't believe this game still has a DC penalty. Considering how often killers REFUSE to hook me when I clearly want out, I just DC and go play another game. I'm sure less people playing though is great for wait times.

  • I LOVE BEING TUNNELED! ESPECIALLY WHEN MY TEAMMATE HASN'T EVEN BEEN TOUCHED ONCE AND WON'T TAKE A HIT FOR MEEEEEE I LOVE ITTTTT hehexd

Honestly, I only play this game to have fun. Here is a list of why red ranks killer isn't fun.

    • If you don't play perfectly, the game ends in 6 to 8 minutes. Not enough time to enjoy the match.
    • Survivors regularly bring oppressive items. (Keys, Syringes, Styptics etc)
    • Survivors regularly run extremely unfun crutch perks. (Decisive Strike)
    • Survivors who want to win will split up on 4 different gens and there is absolutely nothing you can do to get more than one of them off in a timely manner
    • The safe loops in this game are too safe and too numerous in how many exist in any given map

As killer, the exact same problems still exist that did years ago. Survivors are in complete control of the match. After 2000 hours I have come to know that Survivors who want to win will win 99% of the time. Survivors that are doing gens constantly, bam bam bam bam bam gens gens gens, wasting no time crouch walking around dumpsters or doing dull totems or even cleansing Ruin/Undying. Gens gens gens. When they do that, you feel helpless. What? How did 3 gens finish in the first chase? It's not just me either. I've watched a lot of the community's favorite streamers suffer the same experience. Otz, OhTofu, Truetalent mostly.

Boom boom boom gens done game over.

I don't think increasing gen repair time is the answer either. But, I really wish something would be done. I just want so desperately for this game to be fun at the competitive level but it isn't. It just feels so unfair all the time.

This game is the most fun at ~ 12 - 15 minutes a match, lots of chases and back and forth moments. Just like how games ending in mere minutes to gen rush isn't fun, so is slaughtering a bunch of noobs unfun. I don't want to 4k every match, I don't even care about kills. I just want to have fun and right now... yeah, it just isn't. Survivors jumping in lockers in front of me because they have DS from being hooked even though I wasn't chasing them. Unhooking in front of my face. Keys every other game. Syringers/Styptic pretty much every single game.

I guess i'll just play civilization?

The whole point of video games is to have fun. If the game isn't fun and you feel it's unfair to you, don't play.

I was away for months because the challenges destroyed the game as a solo survivor. I just came back four days ago to see if it was any different and I've put in about 20 hours since then. Now that I'm back in purple ranks?

Ebony moris used as soon as possible in almost every other game.

Not a single syringe or styptic or key. No joke. I've always paid attention because killers always screamed on the forums about how fair all of those things were to justify the game-breaking ebony moris. Where was the ebony mori nerf? Insta heals got nerfed - syringes no longer insta heal, and the styptic isn't an insta heal at all.

I run DS and I'm shocked how often I'm the only person running it. Killers almost always go straight back to the hook, if they don't outright camp, and tunnel the person out of the game. DS won't save you from being mori'ed out of the game in 60 seconds when your random teammate makes an unsafe hook.

I'm glad though you let me know all I had to do as a survivor main was decide to win and then I'd win. I will never again have two teammates who haven't been hooked once self care in a corner, leaving me slugged for three minutes when I'm on death hook. I will never again have all three teammates stop doing gens when there are two to go, assuming everyone else will finish for them. I will never again die on my first hook to a facecamping Bubba. I'll never have a teammate refuse to play injured and spend the entire game hiding. I'll never cleanse four totems, and die to a garbage killer who hit me one time the entire game because not one of my teammates could do even one totem. I'll never have a teammate loot a key and stop playing, deciding early on that they will do nothing a just wait for everyone to die. THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW!

I completed all Rifts until now, and i consider myself some kind of completionist, but because real life i'm really struggling to keep up to date (1 level per day on average); i thought this was meant for casual players but i dont think it is and feels more like a chore at this point.

Isnt supposed to be fun? a tiny bit at least? I mean, if they want to encourage us to spend our auric cells and play the game, why make it so grindy, specially considering there is only one game mode, or two if you count killer and survivor separated i guess. Not to mention some challenges are just obnoxious and anti fun...

Any plans on changing the grind needed?

Few fragments each day (3-5?) for first match completed sounds good to me... I dont know but this rift i didnt even spend any auric cells because im not sure i want to do it or even if im going to be able to complete it.

Am i the only one that feels this way?

I've always thought it was too grindy. I stopped playing the game for months because the Rifts destroyed the game for me as a solo survivor. Game after game after game, teammates never tried, they just went for challenges. People sandbagged me to try to get a flashlight save. I'd get games with three Blendettes with keys who literally hid in lockers from start to finish. I could play for hours and be unable to get a single save because no one would play normally.

I've been playing DBD the past couple of days and I am still shocked by how little progress you make just by playing normally. I personally like to get my money out of any battle pass I buy, and if it's a full time job to get it done, I'm going to pass. Oh and I'd say about 1 out of every 3 games is a killer who is AFK or farming. It's probably survivor mains who just want to get some challenges done. I don't blame them, it just makes the game less fun when you want to actually play.

She has the best prestige cosmetics and a smaller character model. If David was covered in as much blood as Claudie is, I'd play P3 David a lot more. I, however, also do run Blendweet and Blenjane because their prestiges are pretty dark.

So why is it racist? The game has characters of colour, why wouldn't you play them? Wouldn't it be more racist to not play the character just because they're black?

Imagine thinking racism is observing that darker pixels are darker.

For me, I can see a survivor across the map hiding behind an object if they show even an inch of skin. If they give me the smallest amount of info as to where they are I suddenly know where one survivor is, which is nice. I can see crows and count the seconds it takes for them to come back to better track a survivor. I learned how to use whispers to find a survivor hiding in a locker and been accused of cheating (lol), and I also know every juke for both sides so I don't really fall for them most of the time. But, what about you? If you would consider yourself a skilled killer, how aware are you of where survivors are?

I'm not a great killer. I try to get better but I often go against red and purple rank SWF's with my level 18-20 killer and it's just not even fun. I never expect to win but with match making like that? Nope.

If you had to ask me what the most useful survivor perk in the game was, I would have to say Dead Hard. Is the perk super powerful? No. Does it stop any tactics like decisive strike? No. So why is it the most useful?

As the title states, it gives way too much value to any survivor using it. But what do I mean by value? When I say value, I am referring to the benefits the perks give you at the cost of using it. For example, sprint burst can be used against killers like Ghost Face to avoid getting instantly downed and get to a loop, but you have to walk everywhere and you can't use other exhaustion perks. Dead Hard, on the other hand, has no downsides to running it. You can still run other exhaustion perks, (mind you still shouldn't do it, but it is better than running say lithe and sprint burst together.)

But what about the benefits? Dead Hard is, without a doubt, the most versatile exhaustion perk in the game. The only times it is not useful is if you are getting instadowned, but only a select few things can do that (*insert chainsaw noises*). So what does Dead Hard let you do?

    1. It lets you make it to a Pallet or Vault that was just a little too far.
    2. It lets you, at any time, make some distance between you and the killer.
    3. It lets you dodge attacks by phasing through the killer.

That is a lot of things that just one perk enables you to do. That is the problem with this perk, it is just ONE perk. The value you can get from compared to what you are giving up makes it a no brainer to use. So how do you fix it? Simple. You just split the perk. Make one perk that is based around Use 1 and 2, and make another perk that is based around Use 3.

Overall, the perk is not overpowered, it just needs to have a higher opportunity cost to make other perks more worth running.

It doesn't give me too much value when I'm exhausted on the ground four times a game. I've actually stopped using it because of how rarely it works.

  • Survivors are still playing, despite how many changes help killers. You really think changing one map is going to make all the killers leave the game?

  • @Katie_met said:

I'm just wondering why do you play Blendette? I find survivor much easier to play than killer, so even when someone is playing the easy role they have to make the game even more easy for them self by hiding.

You know why they play Blendette - they're bad at the game and rely entirely on being hidden.

Stop, how sad do you have to be to try and ruin something this cool for people, running keys, full meta loadouts, BNPs and generally BMing people doesn't make you cool, it makes you look incredibly dense and incredibly pathetic

If you're learning a brand new killer for the first time, how can you possibly get upset that you're not getting 4ks? I'm a survivor main and when I play killer, I expect to get my butt kicked every time. Mostly because matchmaking is completely broken, but also because I don't play killer and I don't have the experience, skills, perks, or add ons, to have much of a chance. I don't act like I'm personally attacked and that people are "bullying" me. If you aren't having fun playing a game, stop playing. People also might be playing in a way that you see as "toxic" because they want to get chased by the new killer. They want to learn how to counter him. Note everyone is sitting around thinking, "Hmm I want to bully killer mains in the PTB." Stop acting like a victim.

I stepped away from this game for months because I think the tome destroyed the survivor side. No one is playing normally anymore, it's all about getting challenges done above all else. I came back to see if anything had changed, and sadly, it hasn't. I didn't get tired of DBD, but the tome and challenges have changed it in a way that's completely ruined the game for me. It sucks, but I'm not going to keep making myself miserable in a game that's not fun for me anymore. If the PTB sucks, don't play it. Seems simple enough.
