I just had a game at the Pale Rose (swamp map) against a Console Myers and Console Feng. The Feng was actively working with the Myers, blocking Survivors in corners to hold them for the Killer, pointing them out, and farming them. Every member of the team (except the Feng of course) got the Mori. She got away. I recorded everything and it is crystal clear what is happening. In the interest of not naming and shaming (although I have no idea why not when we have video) I just want them to know it was recorded, they were reported at the end of the game, and I will be turning in the video.

This was a Rank-2 Survivor Feng who clearly had no skills, but I can only assume got there by regularly doing this kind of thing. I couldn't talk to you both because it was Console, but I REALLY hope you come here. I will be posting the video of this on Youtube and people will find their way to it. I'm going to make you Stars.

So heres my questions, why even bring up that they were console players in the title? What makes that one fact so relevant that it has to be in the title? If they were on pc would you have put that in the title? I understand in the context of your post, as it's relevant. However putting it in the title like that makes it seem you just wanna crap on console players, and just makes me laugh at the rest of your post.

  • It cant because you dont always have control of someone else healing you

Has anyone ever seen this before? I played a match last night where there was a Nea that ran over every single Freddy trap (even ones in tight places with no way to step around them) & she wasn't effected at all by any of them. No animation, no slow down effect, no voice line (ughh!!!), nothing.

Is there a perk that was added that allows that? She wasn't dead harding over them, because she was able to run over multiple ones in a row.

They dont work pn people who are awake, was she awake?

I only get slugged when attemtping this.

"Then just go AFK and do something else for 4 mins..."

I only get picked up, dropped, picked up dropped, picked up, wiggled free when attemtping this.

    "Then just do gens..."

I only get slugged when attempting this.

"Then just go AFK and do something el--

    ‼️

Actually if you just stay afk after the forced pick up and drops from the killer youll get crows and they will kill you usually

  • Disagree all you want doesnt make you right, id love to hear your reasoning though.

How do people normally disconnect? Do they yank the Ethernet chord out of the wall or do they alt+f4 or hit escape and leave match? Both ways are easily discernible on network packets and any logging that is in place. They know how someone disconnects. I don’t think saying they don’t know how someone disconnected is true.

They cant tell the difference between yanking the ethernet cord and an isp issue, nor can they tell an alt f4 from a random crash. They also cant tell either from a straight power outage/flicker. The leave match button could be tracked but not the reason for hitting it, is it a rage quit, or did they get a phone call, or have to go to the hospital, or shut off their system and pretend to be asleep because their drunk parent came home and dont want to get beaten.

The point is there is no reason to track dc's because they arent always intentional so it isnt useful data

Geez I can't even pressure a generator like at all.

Kicking the generator provides a measly regression bonus as it is but 3-4 survivors baiting me in chase and gently tapping the gen to prevent regression just doesn't feel right.

It should require more than just a half second tap to prevent regression.

Unless you are running a gen kicking perk, you should almost never bother kicking gens, it is a complete waste of time 90 percent of the time

  • I gett that, but you need to think big picture.

Since there is no way to tell why a dc occurred, there is no tracking of dc rate by the devs, which means all you are doing is punishing yourself.

What the devs do look at is kill rate which is a major reason why there is a Freddy rework in the works. I can attest to the fact that his kill rate is inflated because of hook suicide, im not a particularly good killer, and ive had far more of those playing him than any other killer even spirit or when i play a really scummy Bubba.

TLDR, intentionally dcing punishes yourself, while inflating kill rate can facilitate change.

  • @Friendly_Blendette said:

Give the killer like 2k bp in each category for each survivor that DCes after the first one. Like someone DCed the second they loaded in and now I got deal with an iri head ruin undying huntress. I just DCed but now have to wait the penalty.

Or you could just run to the killer and get yourself killed and avoid the penalty.

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

Or with overcharge? I've never tried before

Oppresion activates any time you kick a gen while it is not on cool down so in that sense yes. However with overcharge as an example, overcharge would only apply to the gen you kick not all the gens that gwt hit by oppression.

Thank you for the answers, it seems to be a bug, because they hide in a locker I tantrum them and they fall out of the locker the same way you would if you get downed with an M1 when entering it.

  • @AlexisFox said:

You get a penalty at a single DC whether it's your fault or not. I don't make a habit out of DCing but I don't see why I should have to sit out for 5 minutes because of 1 DC against a killer that is trying to grief me. A second DC and you wait for 15 minutes. It gets ridiculous when the community is full of people that want to grief you for one reason or another.

I dont see the problem here, you have 3 options.

    1. Get your self downed/hooked match done in under 4 min.

    2. Dc and eat the penalty.

    3. Spend the 5-15 min playing the match and be done with it.

In the case of your super long matches where you give the killer a 3 gen to defend you literally have no groumd to stand on as that is the fault of the team of survivors. If your running into that too often well, there's a perk for that.

  • @ttvbardberd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2026916#Comment_2026916

That literally is the explanation for why a brown rank would be put with a red rank.

The ONLY two ways it can happen are if you're extremely unlucky, or the more common reason is because at least two people are a SWF and one of them is incredibly higher than the other player they're teamed with.

No it happens because there is an abundance of survivors over killers so in order to have actual fair matchmaking it would make queue times worse than than what they already are. The game favours having lower queue times over fair matchmaking. I would say that 75-90% of my matches depending on time of day dont have any yellow or brown ranked players, thats way higher than "bad luck".

  • @ttvbardberd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2026893#Comment_2026893

But the matchmaking has nothing to do with whether it's fair or not to stream snipe. The matchmaking is something BHVR are actually trying to fix to improve everyone's experience. Also as I stated in another comment, the reason you get put with red ranks at the rank you are is mostly because the game is trying to balance a SWF where one is a red rank, and the others are lower. So yes it needs be fixed, but there is no easy way to fix it.

That does not explain a rank 13-15 killer against 3-4 red rank survivors or purple for that matter or why a rank 1 killer will go against groups of purple/green ranks

  • @ttvbardberd said:

After reading pretty much the entire thread, I actually have some other points I'd like to make out too.

Growing up I used to play Halo with my brother, and back then all we had was splitscreen. One console. This meant you could screen-watch, thereby cheating to gain an advantage (In this case, knowing my brother's location).

Now, when you say SWF is cheating, you're essentially saying all team based games that have ever existed where you have Comms, are cheating. That's not the case.

In Halo multiplayer, there is team chat. We all used to play MW or MW2 (the ogs) and talk to our friends through Xbox Live Comms rather than the games Comms if we were playing with friends, whereas the in-game Comms is exactly the same as Post-chat in dbd essentially.

How can you sit there, and say that talking to your friends, talking to people and giving them info(where they have no actual visual representation of what's happening) is cheating?

Screen-watching IS cheating, Comms are not cheating. The same applies to streamers and DBD. Sure it's public, but it's not fair, it's literally getting info where you're not supposed to have it. SWF are allowed to have it, that's why it's built into the game.

As the OP is only a rank 13 killer as they stated in a previous comment, it is fair to assume you've probably never made it to Red ranks, thus you really can't complain about SWF. I'm sorry, but you've seen nothing if you're complaining about brown rank SWF.

Unless you're at red ranks, there is no way in hell any SWF is cheating (which they're not doing anyway). Red ranks against a Hag where the entire team can see you set your traps for a three gen, only to run over and instantly set the traps off really screws with that hag player. It's awful to feel, but it's built into the game, which is why I'm excited for the Object of Obsession nerf that the Devs proposed. It means that Trapper and Hag will probably be at the ranks of Freddy, Spirit or Cannibal to say a few.

TL:DR, Stream sniping is cheating, SWF is not.

I just want to address one point you made where you go into rank. There is a major flaw in your reasoning because low rank killers do get put in matches with red rank survivors. In a world with fair and even matchmaking your point would hold weight, but the matchmaking isnt fair or even, it screws people over all the time going both ways.

  • @Zagrid said:

First off, congratulations for not being so incredibly boosted that you guys refuse to hold M1 or RB

Secondly, I know you mean well by keeping the exits at 99%, however, if no survivor is in direct risk of being hooked, you can open them. 2 mins is plenty enough time to go for any saves that can actually be done safely and as long as you time it correctly, bloodwarden shouldn't be something to worry about.

Lastly, please just leave when the exits are open. I am sick and tired of having to wait for your butts to get out of the trial when my challenge is specifically to wait in the trial while others escape. But it is very difficult when every survivor wants to give the bags to the killer. So just leave please.

You know you can still open the gate and stand in the exit area and point everyone out right

Yeah I think survivors is much worse but it would kinda have to be for both sides honestly be fair

On the subject of afk killers, How would you distinguish between afk all match vs played most of it and gave up once there was no hope? Also taking into account macro/bot killers.

  • @ClownIsUnderrated said:

    It's cheating clear as day

If matchmaking was actually fair I'd maybe agree with you

  • I will actually say i do this as well, when i see a ttv i will check out the stream mostly to check ranks. Im a rank 13ish killer as well so, if they majorly out rank me purple or red rank, i will leave it on not to listen to there comms because thats too distracting, i mostly ignore it, but specifically when im chasing the streamer i will listen, ive gotten some good tips about things i do wrong that way.

Not all streamers save vods so you cant always watch it later and i dont wanna keep a list of who i played when to search for them. I also always pop into chat to talk to them unless they were super toxic.

Also in a weird way i feel kinda justified as they are broadcasting my gameplay for profit so i feel that monitering what they say about me to however many people is kinda my business and I have dc'd and gave them crap for it if they are being too verbally abusive but thats only happened once or twice.

  • @Witherrr said:

Now I've made a discussion about this in the past wondering is survivors shouldn't have map offerings but thinking about it extensively I just don't think they should exist at all. I just think they're too strong to be an offering and with the wide imbalance of maps they just shouldn't be in the game atm. Especially considering how much they make up the green rarity on bloodwebs, you almost never get party streamers, which is a much healthier offering in the game. I generally think surviviors are too strong as it is and map offerings are just an unnecessary addition to their arsenal, And in some cases I even think they make killers too strong. survivors having the ability to take the killer to haddonfield with comms, medkits, ds unbreakable balanced, and 4000 hours is not only frustrating but also very unfair, and huntress taking you to autohaven and sweating their head off is also frustrating and outright stupid. It's just all around an unhealthy map offering for both sides and they shouldn't have to deal with that kind of strength from an offering. I genuinely think they are the strongest offering in the game now. If maps were more balanced for both sides they wouldn't be a problem, but the way they are now, how a map can drastically alter the outcome in the favor for one side, they just shouldn't exist in the current state of maps. thoughts?

Well since everyone can burn a map offering its sorta balances out. Although i would maybe like to see a change in the odds so that the killer one is slightly more favored in a situation where survivors burn multiple different maps.

At the same time i wouldnt want to see them gone, mostly because map rng sometimes hates me. I usually use them after getting the same map multiple times, coldwind 3 times in a row, im burning a map to go anywhere else. Also if going for a rift challenge, fall 3 times in a chase, hello haddonfield. Can also be huge game changer if going for adept challenges as killer.

A hex perk that grants killers with 3++ minutes of free time does not equal skill and planning.

That is a statement that has nothing to do with how logic works.

There is no perk that does what that statement describes.

    ???

Use of another perk proves logical fallacy?

I don’t think you understand how this works.

You tried to defend iron will by saying it had a trade off i proved that that fact can be overridden by adding another perk, there by putting a flaw in your logic.

  • @JediWithASniper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2014633#Comment_2014633

Iron will has many defenses which are not logical fallacies. For example, it only works while crouched. It’s trade off is mobility. Not a logically flawed argument. NOED defense arguments are logically flawed.

Your defense of iron will is logically flawed and its penalty can be negated with urban evasion

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2016633#Comment_2016633

I don't think the 'can be removed before it activates' is really a good defense. It is possible, yes, but I think it's pretty damn rare that all totems are gone before all generators are fixed.

That said, as mentioned, there's two perks designed to counter it by making totems easy to find. And one way to prepare for NOED is to make a mental note of totem locations so that when the doors fire up and NOED is revealed, you can revisit totems you found to see if one lit up.

The perk is a serious gamble. Sometimes it throws a game into disarray and nets 3 kills, sometimes it gets found and cleansed within 10 seconds of the last generator being done and ends up doing nothing. That kind of massive swing can be considered bad for gameplay though, and I wouldn't be opposed to reconsidering how NOED works.

That last paragraph is very true but it can also apply to lots of things like corrupt purge on plague, popping tier 3 with myers, oni using his demon power, all 3 cause a limited time power spike in the same way that NOED does.

It really depends on what you enjoy i like to run NOED, for the simple fact of i generally hate running regression perks, i do however run corrupt intervention on almost everyone because it forces people into my area. Ruin is only really worth it on a few killers, same goes for pop to a lesser extent, and most of the other ones are garbage. I use gens for tracking and as bait so i tend to go to endgame alot, because defending them is boring and on some maps useless.

Maybe but you would have had to have thrown a second hatchet as well without reloading, while not leaving the area that i could see.

  • @JediWithASniper said:

NOED is for garbage killers. There is no legitimate defense of the perk.

Iron will is for garbage survivors. There is no legitimate defense of the perk

  • Well they have to go to a gate to find out its blocked, so that just means checking lockers near the gate. Plus if you are in a chase when last gen pops it gives you extra time to get that down without worrying that someone is opening a gate and having a team body block you as you go towards the gate. Throw in remeber me youve got 40+16+20 seconds that the gates wont be open after the gens are done.

  • @Soulslayer618 said:

why would someone run no mither?

I fail to see any merit in this "perk"

I am beginning to see more and more people use it. at first I thought it was a joker here or there memeing but its fairly regular now (3/10 games average) and every time its in there we lose at 4 or 5 gens. red rank tryhards are bad enough while solo queueing so this is just painful

anyone know why its popping up so much? is it just bad luck? anything I can do to improve in what is basically a -1 to the team (or tips in general to improve cause I still suck at this game)?

There are a few possiblities, going for the adept david achievement, or running a full injured build with iron will + dead hard/lithe and resilience, or they are tired of being slugged and just want the killer to hook them since the killer also knows they have it, or they just got burned by the twins who it actually can be effective against because they kinda have to slug alot.

  • @Rybe said:

My point is you don't know about the NOED until a second person is down in my scenario. Hence why I would be fine with the perk if you knew once it activate, not only AFTER you go for the save... And the killer pretty much secures their 2k

Though I have had 3 mans just leave me to die first hook because I guess they didn't want to find out if there's NOED... Which is cool of them...

If you dont know that there is NOED, and thers are 3 of you if you go for the save right away and the killer is facecamping you can crawl away and get picked up because they wont leave the hook. The 2nd person who is not trying to heal the slug can go for the unhook if killer tries to defend the slug.

I had a match last night 4 survivors left all gens done 1 steve on the hook. Claudette opened the gate and left other gate 99'd i was slugged 30m from hook sitting on hatch. Elodie picked me up we went for unhook i went down time ran out for Steve. Killer tried to go for elodie for the 3k she looped him and got out and i crawled all the way back to hatch and got out. This was done solo q with noed active.

Im pretty sure rocket league can tell if you lost connection or not.

They cannot but as long as your match is still going you can rejoin it and play out the end and not get a penalty. That idea wouldnt be terrible in dbd but i have a feeling it would be abusable. Imagine killer shows up at gen survivor dcs then respawns and finishes gen when killer is gone. Maybe allow a rejoin as a spectator not an active survivor to avoid penalty and bp loss.

The penalty may be small but i never DC'ed before and now i suddenly get forcibly disconnected from the match and take a penalty. I don't know if the servers are bad today but if the devs read these forums please make a way so that if the person doesn't DC directly they don't get banned because if i get DC'ed again and it gives me something like an hour by something i haven't done i won't be happy man i can tell you that.

Unfortunately there is no way to tell if a dc is intentional or not thats why the first 2 are 5 min bans tthen 2 15 min bans i believe ive never even hit the 15 min stage tho

  • @TAG said:

Please don't DC unless you have either an IRL situation that needs your attention or are actively trapped due to something like a gamebreaking bug. Thank you.

I remember a while back i had a game where 3 gens were done and the killer (legion) got stuck inside a pallet. He didnt dc so me and my buddy stayed with him vaulting through him and getting hit and healing so he could still get bp while the 2 solos were doing gens. He was a trooper so we did what we could to help him out, had a nice chat after the match too.

I agree. The only real reason to show player usernames is to facilitate the holding of grudges. I think neither side should know who they're playing against until the match has started (or even ended)

Player names can sometimes indicate connections that mean swf. Unless there was a straight up indicater that tells you your dealing with a swf, which would be bad because it would take forever for them to matchmake, then i wouldnt care if i could see there names.

I mean to be fair I didn’t really have time. I needed to do gens cause she was constantly going after the other three. I don’t want to be mean and say they were bad survivors. Maybe underskilled or just unlucky. I had to keep healing and trying to save them as well.

Again your ignoring the psychological aspect of the game in the killer mindset, you had to constantly do gens while your team was being pressured, because you couldnt/wouldnt take agro. Wouldnt because you were afraid of not getting unhooked if you went down, couldnt because you made yourself a non factor by making yourself too difficult to hit.

  • @Dragonshensi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2011688#Comment_2011688

How? I unhooked and healed them multiple times? You want me to just sacrifice myself to killer instead?

Kinda yeah. You made yourself a non target for the killer by being more skilled so they went after everyone but you to create that end game situation since it was the only way to get you. Had you taken the time to get hooked earlier and kept yourself as a valid target for later your team would have had a better chance at survival overall as the killer may have had more inclination to chase you if they had downed you earlier in the match.

  • @Dragonshensi said:

Just had a match with a rank 4 killer playing pig. I was able to loop her well and she had given up on the chase multiple times and decided to just tunnel two of my other teammates. ( the minute one was taken off hook she would go straight for the injured one) I had only been hit once, never hooked. I managed to do all but one gen when the time came and I was the last one alive. She immediately closed hatch and found me and one hit down me with NOED. Honestly I’m not the best player but even I knew she wasn’t that great, at least with Pig. It sucks that I did pretty amazing that match and got screwed over by a perk a lot of people use to get a free kill. It feels like my efforts were undetermined very cheaply by this perk. I’m not saying get rid of NOED but perhaps if there’s only one other survivor left then NOED shouldn’t activate. Like to me NOED is used as a last ditch effort when all the survivors are still alive endgame and the killer hasn’t gotten anyone.

Bragging about not having been hooked once while the rest of your teammates were hooked 3 times. Sounds like you got exactly what you deserved, for your bad team play to me.

  • Sure you can give them extra chase points while they tbag and laugh and leave before you can get a swing in to get any for yourself. Or you can say screw it and afk in a corner till they leave and not give them the satisfaction of tbagging you. I prefer the 2nd its a small victory but a victory none the less.

    Short:

Rework that removes Hex Perks dependency of ONE totem but makes them dependend on all FIVE totems and makes their intensity dependend on the amaount of totems ingame.

    LONG:

The effect of some hex are very strong on the one hand but on the other hand they may be destroyed 20 sec into the game.

I suggest reworking every single Hex perk to have their intensitiy dependend on the amount of Hex Totems with decreased power the lower totems there are in the match.

    Example 1: Hex: Ruin

If I am correct right now it reverts of 200% of the normal regress speed? So I would suggest making it with 0/1/2/3/4/5 totems left deactivated/50%/100%/150%/200%/250% regression speed. (Only for demonstration of my idea, not an actual suggestion for a rework)

Example 2: Hex: Thrill of the Hunt

The effect of this perk would be stronger with every totem cleansed: for every 0/1/2/3/4/5 totems remaining the cleansing speed is reduced by deactivated/20%/15%/10%/5%/0% and the killer is notified whenever a survivor starts working on a totem. (Only for demonstration of my idea, not an actual suggestion for a rework)

As you can see in my examples its fairly easy to rework some perks, some perks like Hex: Huntress Lullaby could be reworked to start with their full intensity of 5 and lose its power with any totems done, but some perks like Hex: Devour Hope would need a total rework that would fit this new system.

    Pros:

    • Killer does not lose a perk imidiatly
    • Solo survivors have an impact on deminishing killers power with every totem done
    • on low totems (1/2) the power of the perks could be so "low" that it can be considered a normal perk and there is no need to destroy all 5 totems to have a pleasent game
    • Possiblity for Hex Perks for survivors: like buff for every totem remaining if killer has a Hex perk or buff for every destroyed totem.

    Cons:

    • Rework of some Hex: Perks, but thats not negative really! We need more balance changes to shake the meta

Out of curiosity, what's the verdict on a Survivor intentionally standing in front of the last Jigsaw Box to prevent their teammate from getting the Trap off? I had a game against a Survivor who admitted to doing so in post-game chat.

That would be, being a douchebag, sooo unsportsmanlike in the report flags.

  • Hoarder might actually be decent if they gave it the iron maiden exposed effect on top of what it does now, right now its just a pretty garbage tracking perk

Nah bming, being rude and offensive in post game chat or sending nasty messages is toxic, trying to save a teammate isn't.

Besides bodyblocking doesn't always work out had a team yesterday where all 3 tanked hits but then they were all injured and I sniped 2 down with huntress, chased, downed and hooked the 3rd and by the time the 4th came to pick the others up I smacked them down and won the game. All depends on how you react to bodyblocking and use it to your advantage.

That's not toxic what so ever its just playing the game as its intended tbh.

We have to always consider perks on both sides which are used in these strats and can reward each side when the strat is used. There is also an achievement to reward getting hit in this scenario.

It's then more a smart play when it's in your favour.

The word toxic in this game is highly overused. If it's in the game and an intended then mechanic then it's all fair play regardless of the situation. Imo toxicity only comes from end game chat and messages and anything else is just something a player disliked being used in the game.

I agree to your basic premise, like i said the context of it being toxic is very situational, and mostly is a result of bad matchmaking. In a situation where the survivors know they outclass the killer signifigantly like a red rank swf against a rank 13-15 Pig or (insert weak killer here), then it can border on toxicity/bullying the killer. Again not always but especially when your talking first hook vs 3-4 gens done.

It's like if im playing killer and get a noob squad i can tell and rather than just killing people outright i will slug them once or twice before i kill them, depending on the number of gens left, because they got screwed by matchmaking and i can tell they are at a disadvantage.

Body blocking the hook isn't toxic it's the survivors working well as a team. That's why they have perks like breakout to help get their teammates of the killers shoulder before they can hook them and they get stacks of WGLF and MOM for taking a hit while the killers carrying someone

Body blocking can be a little toxic in certain situations, when a swf/efficient team crushes out multiple gens and body blocks the killer trying to get their first hook that they've been working on for like 2 minutes. Im not saying its wrong or to punish for it, but it is a little toxic.

  • For survivor, I love me some deja vu, gotta stop those teammates from forcing us into an ugly 3 gen.

Honorable mention for fun factor, Head on when you make it work is hilarious.

For killer, gotta go with corrupt intervention, being able to get a down without losing 2 or 3 gens is amazing.

Honorable mention for fun factor, Dark Devotion same as head on super fun when you get it to work.
