Mkay.......
Anyways, my impressions from this post is just that you're trying to do a us vs them thread....
There is no us vs them... I am us and them, I play survivor (with DS) in the morning and killer at night because of queue times...
I just find it funny that people insists his cage is some OP ability on day one when it has almost as many downsides as advantage

I very, very rarely play survivor and one of the core reason is I get tired of my wrist hurting from struggling.
Maybe this is the devs way of sneakily testing a new struggle mechanic. If it fails, at least the cage differentiates itself somewhat. If it works then maybe it something they'll consider for a struggle change.
Or maybe the devs aren't doing 4D cheese sculpting the house on the hill with us and it's just a new mechanic for a new thing. But I agree. I'd personally prefer skill checks to button mashing myself.
I wondered if we may see all second stage hooks move to this too

Oh and it doesn't trigger DS either lol and it's like wonderful for saving time so its like slugging leave everyone and then just cage them when you want i really wanna see how we can play with it.
Sucks that it doesn't work with any of the killer meta and the perks are mostly trash niche stealth. But I can use the perks with other killers just not him so its OK.
I’ll gladly give up BBQ and Pop to counter those things you mentioned

Ok lets find other examples of your teammates not helping you in dbd.
- Opening exit door when it's not safe to do so.
- Camping exit door while someone is getting chased or on the hook.
- Dropping a pallet when the killer is chasing someone else.
- DC for any reason.
- Self-caring instead of helping your team while killer has exposed status effect.
- Doing nothing while someone is getting chased.
Team based games where you don't always help your team and don't get banned.
- Friday the 13th (escaping ahile your team isn't safe)
- Any battle game (not following your team which can hurt them in fights)
- Leaving in non competitive modes
If I kill myself on the hook it's for a good reason. Also if I see 3 urban users in 1 game unless they are just running a meme build we probably aren't escaping that game lol
I don’t DC, but I get why you do it. Seeing my teammates self caring against legion who had sloppy but no Thana makes me want out ASAP

Not that it matters matchmaking rank20 killer puts you with lvl 10000 survivors
I can get people into survior because its easy and even easier to sfw carry them but I can't convince anyone to play killer after a few rounds of bulling lol
Good point, a survivor team if you are really good at looping you can buy them lots of time that alone is huge

Yeah, when you get good players, SWF or not you can tell, but most SWF I face are just bullshitting or all trying to bodyblock one hook, flashlight failing, etc. They're just enjoying the game. Sweats are sweats even if not in a group, so why ruin peoples fun?
Plus, losing to swfs HARD teaches you more than stomping potatoes. You learn which mistakes or decisions can RUIN your game.
A team of four solo rank 1s can be more dangerous than SWF because they’re all trying to “prove themself,” no pun intended and not be a weak link.
@IMhereRUN said:
Easy solution...there’s room for one more button on the main screen, make it a “Kill Their Friends” button. In this mode, killers can purposely go up against SWF groups, with the reward of 100% BP without offerings to engage in this mode.
I would never do this and I don’t think I’m alone, the 60k I get from a Norma game with BBQ even without addons is plenty

Horrible movie. But he played his part. Bedazzled? Again, ######### movie, he played his role. The Mummy? ######### KILLED it.
Tom Cruise may be well known/more successful, but hes not a flawless actor, nor is Frasier a bad one.

Which was ######### stupid. Smite is a game based on teamwork, and tournaments are won by full teams of 5. They limited being able to actually do well with an actual cohesive group BECAUSE PEOPLE COMPLAINED that they couldnf compete. NO #########. A full 5 person team is better than randoms. Make friends, play with them. But no, they'd rather #########, have the 5 person removed and play with 2 in a team max. UNFAIR ADVANTAGE to play smart with a team in a team game? FoH.
All that aside, smite is a competetive moba with equal teams. DBD is not. DBD is not "competetive" simply because its pvp. Its casual, and splitting the players by not allowing friends to queue would be an ACTUAL death knell for the game. Buff killers to swf, buff solo to match. But do NOT limit party size. That's the quickest way to ######### up a game that people enjoy.
I agree, SWF give a huge advantage but I don’t want them gone. Also as a killer I can say that probably half the SWF aren’t try hards they’re just buddies screwing around. Sometimes they are trying to copy toxic teams they saw but they suck at body blocking and flashlights so they make it even easier lol.

Lol. The Tom Cruise movie was....ok, I think they tried to hard though, something was disjointed in it. I know they were trying to setup a dark universe (a bit like the marvel cinematic universe) but you need to start with a great movie and go from there. Instead, they mostly killed it off.
Tom Cruise wasnt the right choice either, I think Hollywood need to realize that big celebrity names are not enough to sell a movie anymore, there is so much choice that if the movie is bad, a big name isnt going to save it.
Yeah the dark universe thing caused that mess I think, similar to how DC couldn’t get the justice league setup right. You have you start with a good movie and then let that lead in with small hints and cameos at first.
Iron Man had nothing about the avengers until the post credit scene I believe?

Yikes to new players.
Good luck getting the perks you need for the meta... whats it now like 12bill to get everyone's teachables 10kmatches(new players loosing often) at a time. Hope they pick a single character from each side and play nothing else and pray that killer doesnt get nerfed
I agree 100% This is a real turnoff, as survivor you can stick with Meg I guess and have sprint burst and adrenaline at least, then a couple solid generic perks. And no shrine isn’t the answer since they won’t be able to buy those until they have quite a bit of game times.
Our son wants to play but he doesn’t wanna just do generic, he wants to copy some of those builds from streamers... and I would let him play my account but he’d get steamrolled at red ranks while learning and while I don’t agree with participation awards lol that is a bit tough on the psyche

This, pretty much. I have to imagine that the churn rate on this game is pretty crazy. I know most players can only really perceive these "Imagine a new player coming to this game threads" in the context of pure knee-deep gameplay implications, but most new players are going to give up on it before they really understand what the game is about, because the systems and user experience are impenetrable. DBD has a severe onboarding problem.
For sure, let’s say you see a streamer/YouTube playing Ghostface and that seems cool, then you realize you start with no perks but oh well I’ll just warn them as I learn to play. But wait, there’s more! Most solid GF builds include some combo of Nurses calling and/or pop... I guess at least you get thrilling tremors you don’t need BBQ although you’d like it for the grind

Gotta agree with him on that. When every map had millions of pallets and the inclusion of event based offerings that added more pallets? God loops and jungle gyms were at their worst and if you didnt now how to play nurse or Billy you were easy prey for the average red rank swf. Things have gotten alot better for killer.
I think people are missing the point, it’s probably easier for killer now than before to play against similarly skilled players. Red vs red or even purple vs red. Yellow vs yellow.
What we’re saying is matchmaking throws brand new 20 killers against red rank survivors wayyyyyyyy too often, whether they are SWF or not the killer is not going to have a good time.

Got two players into both quit after less than a week. Do I win this stupid argument?

dude if they add alien(xenomorgh) I promise you that they will allow it to jump/climb up to higher parts of the map like up to the top of the giant shack in the swamp map or into up to the hill from any angle or it could even jump up to holes that are on a second or third floor. You always see them climbing up walls and it wouldn't be hard to implement only thing needed would be a good animation. of course thats just a passive movement ability, the alien would obviously have more than that
They can’t even get pallet drops and gen grabs right, I don’t have a lot of faith in them doing anything half decent if they tried wall climbing

Rank doesn't equate to skill, and the reason you play against red ranks as a green rank is because Killers don't play the game as much as Survivors.
Stop with the rank doesn’t equal skill, or rank doesn’t matter. A rank 20, 19, 19 killer against red rank survivors is a mismatch. Anyone who can’t admit that is probably just someone who gets their jollies bullying new killers with no regard for the long time life of the game.

See, you say that, but, as was said above me, SWF goes to the lowest denominator. I've run into people where a red rank was queuing with their green rank friend, and honestly didn't see much of a difference between them in skill. I've played enough of the game I can tell, roughly, where people fall on the skill level, and green and red shouldn't feel equivalent. My last game today I got wrecked extremely hard by four legit red ranks on the new map. I haven't played it before as killer, only as survivor, so I was struggling from that perspective as well, sure. But at the same time, two games on Shelter Woods with me as the same killer, both with 3/4 red ranks, if I 4ked one extremely easily and 0ked with barely any hooks the other...that seems to imply there's more going on than the color of their rank. And I find the later I play, the more the "actually good" reds come out, which we seem to agree on.
I've been to rank 1 as a surv and a killer. Back in 2017 I'd consider myself a legit red killer, now I think I'm about purple, maybe green until I get the rest of the rust off of my play (so many whiffed hits lately...) Survivor? No way I'm actually a red. I cannot loop, I cannot extend chases to save my virtual life. I'm good at gens and not being found. If I'm found, I'm going on that hook fairly quickly. Unless it's a Nurse, then I can run for the length of the game (due to maining Nurse in 2017 and her nerf making the same tricks absolutely devastating to her now). But the point being, I don't belong in red ranks as a survivor, and yet I've been there multiple times. So rank doesn't imply skill after a certain point.
No one who understands the game thinks skill and rank go hand in hand, but you can’t honestly think a rank 16-20 killer against a team with even 2-3 red rank survivors is fair
-
@Dead_by_Gadfly said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1298855#Comment_1298855
Rank matters more than people admit. Yes, there are plenty of potatoes in red, but theres a gulf of difference between a legit green survivor and a legit red survivor. When im killer i can actually feel the difference between the two.
You just know if this was switched and new survivors were getting carved up by rank 1 nurses and spirits there would be an uproar
-
its Very very apparent that SWF was changed back to go off of the lowest survivor instead of the highest and friends are using that to abuse killers again
-
@OutcastEric said:
dude rank literally doesnt matter lol. Do you know how many potato rank 1s there are? you should replace red ranks with swf. It doesnt matter though, soon everyone will see how pointless rank is when they hide your true rank so they can artificially inflate their playerbase. soon youll be ranked with the best sometimes and sometimes theyll be potatoes. but youll never know, because itll be hidden lol
It does matter, yes there are potatoes at red rank but they still have played hundred of Hours so they have a good general understanding of the game. They also know a lot of maps and can loop somewhat decently. Against a rank 16-20 killer even a bad rank 4 is going to eat him up, and bad red rank survivors who can’t beat real killers will use this opportunity to bully and teabag.
So you want this to be someone’s first impression of that game? I don’t because I would prefer to see DBD grow. It had a great chance to score more players with Stranger things and it had another chance with Jason/alien/candyman whoever comes out next but if new players buy DBD for that and get 5-10 matches of not being able to catch anyone they won’t stick around.
-
@Dead_by_Gadfly said:

Then those killers will stay in low ranks znd youll move up. I cant even tell you the last time I saw someone camp the first hook.
If the gens get below 3 and you see the killers having a bad game, maybe hes only gotten 1 or 2 hooks, then you need to expect a camp incoming. Thats the nature of the game
i would say half the time I see someone called camper in my games it’s when when did like 4 gens before the killer even managed 1 down, or the gates have been powered are are probably at 99#... I don’t blame him for trying to secure one kill

That's a good point. I forgot awful matchmaking for a second.
That’s the key thing, all of your points about killer being easier now are 100% spot on... but it still isn’t easy enough that a baby rank 20 can face red or even purple ranks and do well/have fun for long.
-
Oops I meant to say even without good perks I put up a fight, But like I said imagine someone who starts playing just because of Jason/candy man/ whatever and those are his first games... he’s quitting
-
@Yamaoka said:
Quote: "The issue is right now DbD as a new player experience is the worse it has even been ever especially for killer."
Wait... What? When I started in late 2017 survivors used the following every match:
- REAL instaheals
- REAL brand new parts
- REAL god loops
- pallet vacuum
- more pallets including god pallets that were not even mindgameable (pre school entrace to name a sample)
- more windows
- SAFER windows (Wretched Shop to name a sample)
- darker cosmetics
- Balanced Landing passive effect to nearly loop buildings infinitely
- multiple exhaustion perks if I commited to a chase too long because exhaustion used to cooldown WHILE SPRINTING
- REAL decisive strike (especially non-obsession decisive strikes that were completely unexpected)
I could list a bunch of other stuff that I remember but you get the point. Playing killer is really easy now.
Ironically I rarely moaned back when I was new. I just played and enjoyed killer gameplay because DBD was completely unique gameplay-wise. Were there any other games like DBD back then that allowed you to hunt down other players like prey?
Except matchmaking at that time was better, meaning a rank 20 killer or even 16-ish didn’t fave instaheals very often. They faced survivors with few perks and no real looping knowledge. So they were kind of bad at killer but the survivors were generally bad too unless they had smurfed.
Now a rank 20 killer could quite literally have his first 10 games against a team of red ranks. Even if those are solo players and not the cream of the crop that killer is going to STRUGGLE.
I talk about the matchmaking from Very recent experience, I’m capped at million blood, dailies, etc so I played killer for my girlfriend to get her some points and she is at 20 because she only plays survivor, I faced nothing but red rank teams all night for about three hours. Now even with good perks I put up a good fight... but can you imagine a brand new player in that situation? It would be enough to make you quit.

I mean it's the same as a survivor taunting a killer. Except in this case survivors can definitely time it right to rescue the hooked person.
@C3Tooth said:
I dont like that too
But I see it equally to tbag, flash clicking at the gates: you do something to taunt the loser. And Survivors do that alot more than Killers hitting hooked survivors.
This and this!!! Whenever killers complain about teabagging I hear, “you’re getting mad about someone hitting a button,” but when a killer does something that literally wasted their own time and doesn’t hurt the survivors chance of winning the butthurt comes out
-
@Fog_King said:
While it is frustrating to go against players that have much higher rank, it's all not the survivors fault that they are matched with a killer from a lower rank. Facecamping them, in my opinion, is not only not fun, but ends up being unfair to the survivors too. Not everyone is toxic or needs to be.
It’s not their fault, but as a solo red rank I have seen teammates teabagging, clicking, etc agajnst a killer who is CLEARLY low rank. I can tell within a chase if the killer is “equal skill,” and 9/10 times if I think he’s like a 12-15 based on the chase movement in right. I’m guessing these other toxic teammates of mine know it too but they choose to be mean. If he wants to faceCamp I don’t blame him

Nope, nice strawman though. You stand a better chance of getting a kill vs red ranks if you facecamp one of them than actually playing normally if youre yellow ranks.
He’s right, also most red rank teams especially SWF are extremely altruistic to a fault. I’ve had plenty of games as a red solo survivor where 1 teammate gets face camped by non basement Bubba and he ends up getting 3 kills from stupidity sometimes 4 because I alone can’t pop all the gens fast enough.
The team can clearly see him standing there but they think they can make some crazy saves...

Even once it’s done do we have real hope it’s going to be any better? If there are too many “high skill,” survivors and not enough killers then “low skill,” killers still have to be matched up against people better than them.

So remind me again when they mentioned MMR... and we still haven’t received any updates on their progress. You can partially blame Covid but even before that no news, and they’re all still working from home.
