When they add the new system to test the hit logic or whatever they called it, hopefully things will be better. I do want to say though it's not a Huntress exclusive problem. I can't tell you how many times I've vaulted through a window, started getting a running start, and had the killer just swipe at a window and I still get hit, whereas if I'm playing killer and swinging at a survivor that's mid-vault I still can't manage to hit them. I'm really getting tired of the bullshit hitboxes they have, but as I said it's not only Huntress. I see it from Huntress a lot, but I see it maybe about as much from Freddy, and I'm always suspecting that they're VPNing because for some reason it just seems especially bad when playing against Freddy. A lot of Freddies I play against will just swing way behind me and still manage to get hits, and I'm talking like swinging through a pallet while I'm already running away from it, and still getting hit.
It's just something that has to be toughed out until they fix it and make it better. I just want it to be so that if I get hit through a window as survivor, I can hit somebody in the exact same situation as killer, but it just won't ever work for me. It's bullshit. Until then, just gotta start bringing a mori and just taking survivors out the game early if they keep living when they shouldn't. I usually like to give everybody a chance to play, regardless of if I feel like they're being sweaty or SWF or whatever, but when I have to go against all the second chance perks, plus people trying to act obnoxious by teabagging/clicking flashlights or whatever, plus being robbed of hits over and over, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to also cheese my way through some kills. I just recommend you start doing the same until they make the change to hit detection. I'm not even talking just bring a mori and mori everybody off first hook, but bringing a mori just as "insurance" seems more and more necessary with each hit I'm robbed of, or each time I get hit as survivor when I clearly shouldn't have.
Definitely not just a huntress thing you’re right, the ranged killers suffer/benefit the most. I’ve had plague spray a crazy wobbly stream all over and miss me, I’ve hit with plague seen the survivor cough and then no infection.
Even against Wraith I’ve dropped a pallet, turned and started to run, took the hit and saw the wraith on my side of the pallet... hmmm

Hitboxes are fine. They even nerfed hatchet by making it so survivor hitboxes are lower when they're healing/working on gens. You're having issues with latency. It COULD be killers using VPN, but how often does that happen?
I've had many times where hatchet should have hit, and I even see the blood splash where it hits, but it doesn't go through.
Survivors complain about hitboxes but when survivor gets caught sliding/vaulting but the game lets them go Scott free do you ever see someone go, “gee that’s not fair I’ll stop so you can down me you earned it.”

It may sound like a stupid question but I've been trying to play DBD with one of my friends and he sounds just, so tired of it.
It's not that he dislikes the game but he says that for the most part if he plays survivor it's "hold M1 and chase, run to the window, round that corner, pallet stun, over the window, round the corner, etc."
When he plays killer he feels like it's just not rewarding, he can get 4ks easily enough but recently he's been getting 3ks with the last person always getting away, or at least most of the time. Maybe he's doing bad since he isn't feeling it.
He feels like at this point Immersive Claudette will be the only fun way to solve the issue. He'll have to M1 still but now he can "stealth around and avoid the killer, just absolutely make them mad." It's not really the making them mad he wants, just the stealthing. We all know though that killers do NOT like Immersive Claudette.
He'd play things like Burger King Myers and Jump Scare Myers. Those kind of meme builds and stuff for funsies but "at that rank (1) everyone knows how to deal with that." The game isn't scary or even jump-scary.
It stopped being fun for him because I guess the game lacks charm now. Content is good, game is alright but it boils down to it not being scary like it was when you first start out, now it's just any old 1v4 game for him. He seems to feel like the controls are just way too simple and the game is neither rewarding nor challenging.
Main point is: Survivor and Killer bore him, half the time anymore he only gets on, does a daily and hops out again.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to possibly improve his mood or is the game really losing it's charm? Does the game need some update that reimagines the game to really make it a scary challenge instead of a repetitive M1 game or is it just him?
No game can last forever, sometimes a break helps sometimes it doesn’t. I used tonplay 90/10 killer/survivor ration and burnt out so I played like almost all survivor. Now im about 50/50, I don’t care if I win, but still usually do, it’s fun but still not the same as it was at first

All you need to do is measure success to decide the direction of the change and measure the MMR of the other players to decide the magnitude of the change. From there everything will work itself out over time.
Good players are the players that succeed more than bad players. Worrying about the how's is an inappropriate use of a ranking system.
So long as you are measuring success as your primary metric, sooner or later the most optimal players will be sorted to the top while least optimal players will be sorted to the bottom.
The RNG doesn't matter because it applies to everyone meaning it will even out over several games.
Abuse of overpowered mechanics only kinda matters, but is also a quality you would expect an optimal player to have. Aka: The best player uses the best build and uses it to maximum effectiveness.
If a mechanic is so overpowered that anyone using it is practically getting a free win, then trying to solve that with the MMR is not the appropriate use of an MMR system. Such a problem is for the balance team to solve, not the matchmaking team.
What is success, if you say escaping then 9/10 players who actually know about DBD will laugh. Even the Devs would laugh at you, I mean right now you can escape and black pip

Honestly, if you really wanna know what I think...story time.
Remember right before the Doctor rework came out a few months ago and the patch notes for that update had leaked? The patch notes for the actual update were 1:1 with the leaked notes, except one thing that was omitted (likely due to backlash, because there was a lot). Under "balance changes", it was listed that they were going to hide ranks on the post-game lobby. Nothing else. That was literally the only change. We all knew what that was about; it was about hiding their spaghetti matchmaking. Another bandaid fix. We all knew it, we all called them out on it, and they backtracked faster Mcote after telling us to go play a different game. They even went as far to say they had "no plans of hiding the ranks".
Fast forward...what...a couple weeks or so? They formally announce their plans to implement an MMR into the matchmaking algorithm. Again, anyone with a brain knew this was never going to work. Along with this announcement, they say they plan to hide the ranks in game, and along with that, matchmaking will be determined by a "hidden skill rating" (MMR) that only the devs/game will see.
I still think, and I know a lot of people still think, they aren't doing #########. They're just removing ranks as a matchmaking factor and tossing everyone into a pool of matchmaking regardless of any other factors. To be honest, that would at least be a lot more genuine that BSing people into thinking it's possible for an MMR in a game like this to be even REMOTELY accurate.
I'm on board with you, whenenver this MMR is starting it won't change anything except hiding ranks. Just try to PROVE that it isn't working.

Thank you. I believe every killer player probably has set of rules they keep, depending on the killer they play that trial, the survivors characters, and of course the survivors behaviours and other factors.
As a survivor, I'm often enough granted a hatch escape by various killers that downed me, in which they later tell me that they simply enjoyed playing with me. That tells me Killers just wanna have fun. But they take their job pretty srsly.
On both sides I just want to have fun, and I hope the other side has fun too. I play about 50/50 so I feel like I know what I can do as a killer to give survivors a good experience, ie no camping or tunneling unless they force me too. As a survivor if I clearly outmatch they killer, like it I can tell they’re rank 15 then I don’t let them win but I also don’t do anything too tryhard or abuse certain loops.

But isnt that MMR is about? Its just overly complicated calculations to determine exactly what you are good at, if they are doing the MMR correctly it should determine that, while you are good at doing gens, you are not good at chases, and vice versa.
Same with add-ons and moris, devs can easily take them into account and substract points for bringing certain add-ons or moris depending on their rarity.
Most games that use MMR are much simpler to score, your deaths vs how many kills you got.
Also lets just start with one factor, you mentioned it can tell if you’re good at chases what does that mean? I asked about does running a killer for five minutes using up every pallet on the map count as a good chase? Does eating hits for your teammates and even taking a hook state because you know they’re on death hook count as a bad chase? Will it reward selfishness? Also chases are map and killer dependent, I can abuse most Nurses on Hawkins or corn maps but on a really open map they can instantly down me. Stealth killers can usually can an instant hit or even a grab on indoor maps so does that count as a short chase?
-
@Frankie said:
The new MMR will literally do nothing of note.
Why? Cause it's impossible for an AI algorithm to measure skill in Dead by Daylight. For a variety of reasons.
This! If anything it is going to mess matchmaking up even more, there’s no way for an algorithm to know a “skillful player,” from a “bad player,.”
It’s been talked about before but if baby takes the killer on a 5 minute chase by camping and dropping literally every pallet on the map the MMR will probably think he’s good. If the next chase is Steve and he goes down because there are no more resources to use it’s going to call him bad?
If Myers fills up his stalk on a teabagging Nea or a Meg who literally never sees him for 20 second and than goes and instadowns Ace does that mean Ace is bad?
Same thing with Plague fountains, if I notice a survivor always cleaning at the slightest infection I will never ever down them til last. But they give me the power to annihilate the rest of the team, is that the teams fault?
The list could go on and on

Also you can't even remotely make the comparison to a 3rd party cheat which gives you information you should not have to a wiki or youtube that makes literally no sense what so ever im not sure the point you were trying to make but either way i dont think it was even close to the mark with all do respect.
Ah yes, those situations aren’t even close. But they are you see Devs have literally stated they do not want players to have the exact numbers.

"All 4 Survivors sacrificing huge portions of their kit in order to complete that 20% of their objective 12 effective seconds faster than normal (or 3 literal second faster)."
how would you describe "huge portions" because all they did was all bring toolboxes with add ons i wouldn't say that is huge and out of them all only one of them had prove thyself the rest of their perks are meta perks so they didnt really change or sacrifice their builds to finish a gen so quick.
It is though, like I said above I’ll take 4 BNPs before 4 instaheal medkits. The first situation puts me in a bad situation off the start of the survivors needing 4 gens but you can eliminate that by 3 genning tjem. People can bring medkits that provide 1-2 really fast heals and then instaheal or borrowed time

It is technically cheating you are using something to gain information you otherwise wouldn't have you can't really debate that it is cheating. At the same time behavior could also easily fix it by just removing the server feeding information before game it's not very hard to do they just have more priorities at the moment.
So using wiki or YouTube to figure out that considerably longer actual means 8 seconds would be cheating?

Ever since I first read about this I started switching right before the game starts. So far every time I stay as Dr trying to get even one person to waste a slot on calm spirit... I may start doing some actual “opposite switches,” like faking plague to prevent healing perks and medkits If I plan to use sloppy and nurses calling

Meme builds, meme builds, meme builds.
Your progression is based of the time spent in matches, and nothing else. So you can just ######### around in the match without being AFK, and try new stuff. Is Monstrous Shrine secretly an actual good perks? How about getting 4 WGLF stacks? Maybe do the infamous meme DS into Head On stun challenge? Or explore the secrets of Space Billy?
There is more to the game than just tryharding. Taking a break from it if you are burned out will improve your sanity, and might get a you depip here and there, which in turn could also improve your sanity if you are killer.
Not meme builds, but I started screwing around with Huntress because I was sick of being looped the same ways every game. The mind games reinvigorated me, plus tossing Long range hatchets is great fun even if you miss 10 that 1 you hit makes it worth it for me!

Yeah since enduring no longer effects the ds stun, which has been proven in this thread. That yes, this is the reason why ds is a 5 second stun. So the logically thing would be make it 3 seconds again, since enduring no longer effects it and that is the reason behind the change in the first place. Of course the main issue is not really the stun but how as you say, survivors can abuse it for god mode, by doing gens in front of a killer with no fear or going into a locker near a gen, forcing a killer to eat the ds or leave them alone to possibly repair a gen. That and since the devs seem to have no interest in lowering the stun. Well there are other ways one could rework it, to make it better.
Since ds is the unofficial anti tunnel perk. It seems rather bad at doing it's job. Since you have to lose a chase [giving the killer who is trying to tunnel you, what he wants] and than have to be picked up right away, hoping none of your team mates try and save you and simply lead to killer chasing after them and doing nothing more than having your timer go away. Than the killer comes back and your timer is gone. Which is why Otz idea of reworking the perk. Even if not perfect, does sound like it would avoid alot of the abuse and using it as being immune to anything the killer does for 60 seconds.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/644981437
For around the 6 hour and 15 minute mark. Otz starts a match as ghostface, around the 6 hour and 20 minute mark. A recently unhook survivor, while injured. Who is on death hook. Travels all the way across the map, just to stalk Otz and break him out of his power. Which why did they do something so stupid? They had ds of course. Which is around when Otz starts to explain his idea for a ds rework. Which is much like the one you brought up before, of it going off. It lasts for 5 minutes if you are being chased by the killer but goes off if you do something like a gen. Which does sound like it would ignore it being abused. While at the same time, a survivor can legit try their best to avoid escaping the killer who is tunneling them and try healing up, without having to worry their team mates will deny them the ability to use their ds, due to the killer chasing them off before coming back to you and your ds being gone by the time the killer comes back. That and also allows a survivor, if they are legit being tunnel, the ability to put up a good chase, without having to fear so much their ds is about to end.
People have suggested similar to Otz, I know I have, I hope they listen to him but they won’t. The fact that killers are willing to make it last 2 or even 5 minutes during tunneling, but shut off the moment the survivor does a gen meaning he isn’t being tunneled anymore, proves that no one actually believes or wants it to be an anti-tunnel perk anymore.
This is why I started using my stockpile of green moris, if someone doings themselves at me and clearly has DS I take the down and mori them. It doesn’t solve lockers but meh

Again. I dont care that it was one gen. They completed 20% of their objectives in 17 secs. Thats stupid broken. Is it cool if a killer kills a survivor in 25 seconds? Cause these 2 things are extremely similar. You guys can keep repeating yourself if you want to, theres no intelligent argument to it being ok that they did a gen in 17 secs.
You realize had they split up they would have completed 4 different gens by over 20% in that same time frame? You have stated you won’t be convinced otherwise so no point explaining it more, good luck in life quitting and whining when something starts off bad because it’s unfair.

Sick hatchets as huntress. It could be long range, but what I enjoy even more is “guessing,” and blind throwing that’s why I bring addons for an extra 1-3 hatchets every game.
Had a game last night where I downed someone at shack, before I picked them up I could just make out repair sounds so I tossed a hatchet at the closest gen I figured I had a decent chance of picking the right side and I did!!! That dude self cared as I carried her to hook so he didn’t get any gen time, plus I sniped him right after his heal with Nurse calling. I would have liked it a second earlier to down him but it was cool knowing he wasted 30 second last self caring and I undid it like that.

Bro, i play killer to at rank 1 and have above a 3k average. Your rank 14 prowess doesnt impress me and im well aware of what pressure is and how to apply it. When something is broken its broken. In no world should a gen finish in 17 seconds. Theres no argument youre going to make thats going to make that ok. Stop trying.
Again, it was ONE GEN. They all teamed up on it and blew BNPs... and it obviously isn’t that broken because they still got stomped.
Honestly I would rather have survivors play toolbox and BNP agajnst me instead of jacked up medkits or even instaheals. Heck I would rather have survivors use their toolbox to fix gens rather than strategically sabo hooks.
The only benefit of blowing your load on 1-2 gens early is the psychological effect it has on some killers, making them feel defeated before the game has even begun. I feel like you’re the type of person that strategy works on.

Three things trying to not sound privileged or judgmental. First, if it’s burning you out and not fun stop and just pay the 10.00 for those killers when it’s affordable for you.
Second, you could have chosen to get those killers instead of paying for premium rift. If that was your intention you could have held off u til you saw if you made it to the end, paid for premium and it would instantly give you all tiers.
Third, you should be able to make it halfway at least earn enough shards for one of the killers.

Maybe and I don't want sound rude but maybe it's because not everyone has the fortune of consistently playing against mediocre at best survivors or on incredibly favorable maps. Like I get it the power feels fine against most survivors as most people, and you can disagree with me here, are honestly not very good at the game/just play casually but Legions power is honestly bad and I dont get why people think otherwise, especially if you compare it to like any other power in the game you can see its heavy shortcommings and honestly ridiculous restrictions.
Spot on, I play against red rank survivors because you know, matchmaking lol, but I still beat them with almost every killer and without “sweaty,” builds. I also play survivor at rank 1-2 and I can tell you some of my teammates are hot garbage, I mean to be honest I’m not even that good at looping.
This is why people are able to find stats to “prove,” that all killers are OP and justify calling their favorite killer top tier. I think Legion is one of the bottom 3 killers and against most red rank teams I’ll still get 2-4 kill games consistently, when I run into strong solos or a good SWF I’ll lose but meh.

Or maybe it's because I've had this same argument a million times before about how being injured against the most M1 Killer in the game isn't scary, how Frenzy is piss easy to counter without the need for Dead Hard anyway, how Deep Wound is a pathetic stall effect, yadda yadda. At this point it feels like clockwork listening to idiots trying to tell me Legion is good. They always bring up the same arguments that only people who evidently don't realize just how insanely strong Survivors are and how little Legion does to hinder them would ever see as valid. The same holds true here, and I'm getting sick of trying to respond to such drivel when no one ever bothers to realize that hey, if being injured all the time is so scary, then why isn't Plague a good Killer?
Believe it or not, I actually have this thing called a real life, and I have to sink time into that instead of sitting on the forums trying to drill logic into skulls thick enough to think that Legion is good. My notifs were filled to the brim with more of the same crappy arguments that people give to try and justify Decisive Strike: The Killer somehow being above F-tier and at this point I do not want to bother with replying to all of them. It's a terrible use of my time when I have things like college to worry about, or even just going on a thread where people are actually talking about something worth paying attention to.
Guy starts thread, gets feedback he doesn’t like, then says he doesn’t have time to spend on the forums like us losers replying to his thread...
Also makes fun of people for “wasting dead hard,” but then straight up says legion is easy to loop even without dead hard...
I agree, you should spend more time on your college classes because you have apparently missed a lot of the fundamentals that even freshmen classes will teach you.

Insidious already allows Option 3.
If they're going to leave the yellow aura, then they should increase the Killer's move speed to make Options 1 and 2 more effective; especially since the perk has a cooldown.
When the Killer kicks the gen, they gain 1 token for every Survivor currently repairing a generator. For the 15 seconds of Undetectable, the Killer moves 1% faster per token. All tokens are lost when the Killer attacks.
This can even give some useful info. If you kick a gen and get 4 tokens then you know for a fact that no one is hiding near this gen, as all 4 Survivors are repairing elsewhere.
It’s good, a bit complicated. Our point is they purposely make things too complicated already and whether on purpose or accidentally create a weak perk

In my Survivor games, the easiest way to tell a red from a purple is their commitment. If you hit people and leave most of them, you aren't going to have the pressure you need to win games. You can tell a good Killer apart because they rarely injure people that they have no intention of downing and they can commit to full chases that get them reliable downs. Perks like Pop and BBQ only start the momentum rolling with constant downs not just injures
Depends on the killer, perk, survivor. Multiple injured can be useful if you have sloppy, thanat, if you’re Freddy putting people to sleep.
i would say the number one rule is locate the weaker links, if one person is a great looper at a good spot leave him

I have every teachable unlocked but I still use it because I find the bloodpoints helpful. No skins I want to unlock with shards, so I'm fine with spending them on perks for the points.
Just bloodpijnts for me too, generally at the start of a new chapter to level the new killer ASAP! Then the next couple weeks to level other killers if I want to get his learnable perks in them.

This made me laugh! If they got rid of the aura I think A LOT of survivors could be tricked into coming back immediately. I feel like they hide behind trees right near the gen a lot of the time.

To be fair all of Pyramid head's perks are garbage, in my opinion Forced Penance is even worse as it literally doesn't even do anything. Im getting flashbacks for when Demogorgon came out with his perks, Mindbreaker fun idea could work if it got buffed but as it is its garbage, Cruel Limits should block all windows/vault locations 24m around the killer not the finished gen and then could be useful, and Surge is just competing with so many other gen perks that theres no point in using it instead of (insert gen perks here). For Pyramid head u have things like forced penance makes a survivor who takes a protection hit broken for 30 seconds... so what u already hit them anyway, Trail of Torment could've been a fun perk to use from time to time but the amount of downsides it has makes it not worth to use and finally Deathbound has like 50 conditions before it works and when it does its not even doing anything that useful, Oblivious is fun and stuff but its not useful on perks as there are just way better perks u can be using (even in meme builds)
Mind breaker is a perfect example, if they removed the “under 50%” requirement it would have been fine. When you’re working on a gen you’re exhausted, period.

Just got nurse calling for my girlfriend because her main isnhuntress and no time to level up the others really. She’s managed to get BBQ from the shrine as well so those were two lucky weeks!

Yeah, even if it means not winning consistently it's so fun to try out different themed builds! When you've been playing the game for a while it almost makes more sense as well because what's the point of playing the same perks over and over again just to win if you're not really having fun anymore and it forces you to play differently and change things up
What chase builds did you try?
Yeah, when the games start feeling the same and maybe Even boring what’s the point.
Ive done bamboozle, spirit fury, enduring on a few M1 killers. PWYF, enduring, nemesis. STBFL, PWYF, enduring is a feast or famine build, if you chase and hit the right people you’re fast with almost instant 1-2 combo but if you see the obsession at the wrong time it’s meh.
As you can see they aren’t bad builds just a bit different. Open to any other suggestions.

And unhook was changed to unlock by auto correct, and editing isn't working right now...great.
As for taking the post seriously, I'm going to have to agree with you by saying Kate has the most intriguing lore out of all characters, with Zarina and Jeff close behind.
I’m a Meg main (runner myself) and I can’t lie hers may be the worst, “she went running in the woods one day,” the end.
I haven’t read much of the newer survivors I’ll chime in later. As far as killer with the best I would say Hag is so brutal and revenge minded it’s good.

It could be worse! I believe they changed t so the the DC timer resets daily. This is a huge improvement over what it was, where it would gradually go down over a number of games or days.
Did they? I wondered because I notice a lot more DC lately do i figures they reduced the penalty somehow

Let's say you are the last person in his TR without deep wounds, he will go for you with his frenzy bcs it's faster, won't hit you but he will try to get close, you deadhard for no reason since you are the last guy that's gonna get stabbedand you deadhard for no reason at all.
That’s why I said in my prior comment that the situation dictates. If I know (Bond) that no one is around I’ll just take the frenzy hit. If everyone else is already hurt I’ll take the frenzy hit. If the stun won’t let me get to a loop anyways I’ll eat the hit for the speed boost.
Saying “never dead hard vs frenzy,” is such a bad blanket statement. It’s like saying, “never ever cleanse vs plague,” or “always 99 the doors.” Blanket ALWAYS or NEVER statements are generally not wise.
-
You asked why, multiple people have told you why. You can disagree and say your stance is that you would prefer to eat the frenzy and let the team all possibly get injured as well. I choose to give up my own resource (dead hard) with the assumption that me being injured and looping the killer is better than one of my teammates.
Again, this is MY PHILOSOPHY, doesn’t have to be yours and it may be wrong but it’s at least debatable. If I had some experience to suggest otherwise, like watched another teammate put up a good chase earlier in the match then this could change my mind, if my whole team was already injured it could change my mind.

Like I said to someone else: If your team is so positively braindead that they're grouping up against a Legion and ACTUALLY letting him build pressure off of that little teensy weensy mend timer, then your team was doomed from the start.
True, but I prefer to give my team as much chance as possible even bad teams surprise you once in a while if you buy them time.

Meh, I feel like rank 1 and rank 2 are interchangeable... when I depip and go to 2 I'm fine because I would have to be extremely unlucky to end up at 3.
