I think it could be potentially interesting with the highlighted aura.

Makes them distrust the aura of a gen maybe, maybe lure them in thinking it's better together.

    But the cooldown is ridiculous

This could be true if people ran Better Together, how many times do you see that out of 100 games?

A bunch of people are telling me this, and my reply is always the same: It's Legion. He gets his power back in 20 seconds AND his power doesn't do anything. At that point, Dead Harding against him only accomplishes the act of denying him a bonus 250 Deviousness points in 95% of situations.

There’s a reason a bunch of people are telling you that. The difference between him missing you or him hitting you and chaining to everyone else is 10-ish seconds of wasted time for each player, plus if you’re playing solo like me you have to be concerned your team is going to self care as well...

Hard disagree. The problem with most of the perks they introduced so far is that they are so extremely restrictive (e.g second wind, mind breaker, furtive chase, gear head, fixated etc.).

    They even nerfed Gearhead...

Like it would have been way too strong????

Seriously!!! Who cried for nerfs because of the possible Gearhead meta game shift

    • It's LEGION
    • You're INJURED
    • You have now put the Legion in a position where it would be best for them to go after you and only you, and you don't have your Dead Hard to help you out

Your first statement and third go hand in hand. I am already injured, now I have prevented Legion from injuring 1-3 other people for “free,” and convinced them to chase me. Considering legion is meh in a chase I have no problem taking my chances looping them without dead hard.

I ran right up to a survivor once and they refused to heal me...guess doing the gen was more important. They ended up getting hooked and as punishment we refused to unhook them and let them die as we escaped.

Some people will plow through a gen to get their Adrenaline, but as solo then if you don't run it you are SoL... they speed burst away and leave you injured so I like having self care as well

  • I guess if you’re going to be their first hit and people are close? Niche situations here and there it could be useful to prevent them stabbing 3-4 people

  • If DS had the same design philosophy, it'd leave you Hindered while the killer was stunned. It's absurd, it's quite literally a stealth perk that shows everyone where you are. Right @Orion imagine BBQ made today it would have a cooldown of 90 seconds at rank 3, and only show you the aura of injured survivors outside of the range.

  • First, can all of you guys come to OhTofu's twitch tonight to call him out for using self-care, come on please tell one of the most respected members of the community that he is doing it wrong.

Second, not all survivors need all four slots to be something meta so they run three great perks and self care just in case.

Third, for the billionth time it isn't a bad perk, just because you see someone ignoring the team to self care against sloppy doesn't make everyone that uses it bad.

  • The perk itself isn’t bad, that’s a blanket statement that makes you look like you don’t understand the gsme.

Yes, blendettes selfcaring in the corner against sloppy are bad. If I take 32 second to heal myself and let you stay in the gen for 16 seconds instead of running to you to get help that works out the same time wise to you healing me for 16 second and then us working the gen together for 16 seconds.

Due to the penalty when two survivors work a gen together its slightly better actually but that’s splitting hairs.

TLDR self care isn’t bad, the way some people use self care is

  • This just makes me wonder how many invalid tickets the team has to sift through everyday. They probably get hundreds of tickets because of camping and tunneling even though they state it’s not reportable.

I had someone at least claim they would report me for body blocking with Bubba when I caught them working a totem and blocked them there just long enough to saw them

  • @coppersly the offerings do apply post game on top of the 8k. I can say this for sure because I’ve run offerings without BBQ and earned 40k because I get 32 plus a bonus 8 in hunting.

Perks like prove thyself, Distressing, thrill of hunt, etc those are what only works during the game.

  • I know they are separate teams, so everyone who’s planning that reply can stop... but I feel like they need to pull more people to work on bugs and slow down on cosmetics, new killers, new maps, etc

Yes, again I understand they are different teams. But maybe, and I hate to say this, let one or two people go from the cosmetic team to hire two more people to fix bugs?

  • in regards to outfits I guess having enough that everyone can find 1-2 they like is okay.

The charms for survivors and for killer hooks are pointless, I don’t even put them on

  • I would say 30, but yeah I don’t wanna be greedy. You’re right if they had stopped there it would have at least be useable but then they had to add the yellow aura and the cool down of over one minute!!!

I still feel like they came up with this right after better together came out and thought it would be used and this would be a neat mind game / counter

  • Oops didn’t quote, I meant glad it’s not just me that likes to play agajnst them and watch the VOD later

  • Just a PSA, sometimes it isn't even the killers plan to camp but he stands there for a second and survivors start swarming. I have literally hooked someone and within seconds seen two survivors crouching right around us waiting for me to walk away and make the save, so I stood there. I am now pressuring THREE survivors at least, if that fourth wants to work a gen solo be my guest.

  • @LALYTHIA assuming all 3 survivors are on a gen by the time the survivor gets hooked that’s time for each to do one solo gen and team up for another. Meaning if the survivor didn’t go down instantly all gens pop. Yes NOED can still hurt here but that’s always the case. A camping killer applies LESS pressure than one that’s moving because he literally only pressures one survivorx

  • @Ferr0r said:

We just had a doctor which puts one on the hook and facecamped the whole game. As a good team we did everything to get the guy from the hook. But because of the facecamp he could easily get another survivor on the hook.

Eventually we escaped with three survivors.

But still this facecamping killer has 21k points. I mean, devs, i know facecamping is a choice but cant you at least punish them with low bloodpoints and derank? Why shouldnt you facecamp if the reward is so high ? Besides facecamp is freakin boring to do...

There must be some kind of way that killers dont get points if they stand still , no ?

He got rewarded because you went for saves. Do gens, leave and let him have like 3k points

  • Why do they have to reply, it’s not reportable to run at the killer they would need multiple repairs and then watch you play and purposely lose and how do they prove it? You could just be really bad

No, you don't start at 0. You start at a somewhat low point and it adjusts quickly to get you to where you should be. Though by the time the new matchmaking system comes out, you would have already been placed at a rating fitting for you. It'll be tracked behind the scenes before it's used for matchmaking.

Way to dodge the original poster's question.

    Good job, Behaviour.

I appreciate him answering at all honestly, my original post or tagging him wasn’t to try to get him to tell us factors. Again, I’m pretty sure I remember the chat/stream stating they will not tell us what goes into the skill.

Its a lose lose situation if you ask me, because if they don’t tell us then we are just playing blindly and we have no clue if it’s even working since it’s all hidden.

But if they do tell us people will “game the system,” and it won’t be accurate anymore anyways.

  • @bingbongboi90 said:

For me is it the question if the games you play now is counting towards the mmr system as well.

If this is not the case then matchmaking is still bad till everyone mmr isnt sh*t.

And if this is the case mmr might still not be fine because of the matchmaking right now ruining the mmr of the current players.

I wondered about that too, @Peanits does BHVR plan to announce will everyone start at MMR zero or will people start at something based on their current rankings nag?

  • @I_Teabag_Gate said:

We can assume it's based on things you do during matches.

Chases, Saves, Gens etc. Downs, Hits, Sacrifices etc.

The main question will be how is it weighted. In random lobbies a save is a big thing. In SWF I can tell you the killer is chasing me and a 4 year old could get the save.

Safe unhooks should be a no brainer, I think my biggest questions are about chases like in my first post.

Can I just get found first and drop pallets early and run away instantly to extend the chase 3 minutes, Giving me a good score and screwing the rest of the team over when they have no pallets to use all game?

  • @BattleCast said:

It would be pretty funny if they just changed nothing and hid the ranks.

Yep lol. Like I said above I have faith that they are actually implementing something different, but it’s funny to think of a staff meeting where they say, “hey guys let’s tell them we’re working on a MMR system, wait like a year, then just hide ranks.”

I bet as soon as they announce MMR is live you’re going to see a hundred posts saying it fixed matchmaking! And probably more than a few posts claiming that they didn’t change anything like we’ve been joking about.

  • Is playing immersed but injured all game skillful, it is pretty risky.

Are quick downs as skillful, more skillful, or less skillful than long chases? We already see the emblem system punishing killers like Billy for one shots how does MMR fix that?

sorry for the double post I just thought of a couple more and I’m sure there are plenty more questions people have and we don’t ever know from what I think the Devs said.

This challenge is a good one, it's hard to do and rewards you well for doing it. These are MEANT to break people out of their expected play styles and try something new. people here complain how boring it is to just gen rush, well these challenges spice it up. another thing is that you try to do the challenge while being helpful at the same time. Stop complaining and just enjoy your game, if you can't enjoy it because you get randoms doing weird crap then just bring a 4 stack! I got mine where I RAN AFTER a plague. she never saw me what so ever till after 1 minute had passed and I got it. I was laughing my ASS off the whole time because I followed the plague around the map!

People aren’t necessarily saying it’s hard, although I do see some of those comments, people are saying it makes you useless that game. You ran behind the plague for a minute, okay cool exactly what were you doing to help them team during all that?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/159098/the-matchmaking-is-getting-worse-everyday

That's not even the worst of it, I booted up the steam version (I usually play on the Microsoft pc edition; which has crossplay) and low and behold was I (rank 20) placed against all red rank survivors who gen rushed me instantly. Of course me being a Nurse with 1 perk (my Nurse was level 3) I decided to say screw that noise and just leave the game to go play another game. What happens? Well of course I get mocked and made fun of (even at rank 20) by these "pro" survivors (who all of course ran meta perks) and harassed me (I could have left the chat but I wanted to see all the comments these sad basement junkies had to say.) Just goes to show that the matchmaking can and will be much worse, not to mention the people who play this game ┐( ∵ )┌

I never get this, I’m rank 1-2 and when we beat a rank 10+ killer I just say gg and apologize for matchmaking

  • @Frankie said:

Part of the problem is your perception of survivor ranks, and that they mean anything in terms of skill.

Spoiler: They don't. A nutless monkey can get to rank 1 survivor. In their sleep. With duct tape over their eyes. It's literally that easy.

There's as many potatoes at red ranks as there is at yellow/brown ranks; and there's as many decent players at yellow/brown ranks as there is at red ranks.

Especially since the rank reset change this is so true. The gap between a “good red,” and a “potato red,” can be as big as the gap from red to green or yellow it’s that bad

I really do love watching these. And these videos are really good references for exactly when to try to "mind game" when standing still. That said, these survivors were really bad.

1st chase, when the spirit goes through the window the survivor just stops dead in his tracks and lets her hit him. He then puts himself into struggle phase in the first hook.

2nd survivor hides in a locker several seconds after the hook revealing that they went into a locker. That's 3 hook stages gone and that's before he used any "mind games".

After getting unhooked, the 2nd survivor runs right at him and gets hit (maybe because she was trying to suicide). Not sure.

1st survivor goes down and dies.

and 2nd survivor kills herself on second hook.

After that there's some decent game play, but at that point the game was already lost.

It's really cool that he does these videos, but I feel like there might be some cherry picking going on where he probably doesn't upload the games where it doesn't work.

This is why I won’t watch YouTube if I haven’t seen them stream, too much cherry picking 4K games as killer or survivor games when they 360 a rank 15 killer three times in a row and pull off tech

  • @Orion said:

Nope. That's just something salty people tell themselves when they lose to something due to their own mistakes. It's being said about Spirit, it was/is also said about Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Huntress, Shape, Hag, Cannibal, etc.

Just think about it: do you think it's easy to play a killer who can't see survivors?

This. Spirit gets 4k for having a headset... Freddy only gets them because he’s boring so they let him... billy is ez one shot... the list goes on. But challenge any of them to suit up and play killer and they’ll let you know they find that boring too

Possibly they had spine chill? Also if you pop up as soon a survivor starts a gen they may assume surveillance and use that to bait you for the rest of the game. I’ve done this agajnst surveillance and discordance before and almost every time my assumption was right

  • @BloodMoneyMerc said:

I don't care for exactness on the 20/80 split. But for characters like Huntress, Hillbilly, Clown, & Ace, they deserve more shard-purchaseable outfits. Potentially, they could open up some older cosmetics to become shard-purchaseable. They should also stop focusing so hard on outfits for the same few characters. Like Yui is relatively new & already has more cosmetics than Adam. They should give underplayed characters a bit of love to entice people to start playing them more, though from a business standpoint I guess you would want to give love to the most popular characters.

I think it’s an ugly cycle. They release cosmetics for popular characters because the more people that use that character the more sells they can expect. Then that character gets played more because it has rhe new cool skin, rinse repeat

This, stop showing any mercy I hate to say that but you need to double pip game afte game until you get back to where you belong.

If I take long breaks or a double rank reset bug drops me I don’t give hatch at all for a while. I feel bad but I think it’s better for everyone if I take the double pip and get out of their ranks ASAP

Hey at least they remain next to a gen. Seen others that will run away from their team mates and run all the way to the other side of the map, just to self care.

Yep, I think the travel time is more wasteful than the actual healing time. People insist on being in a dark corner behind a tree to heal, like half killers don’t run Nurses call anyways

    @Ghostwithaface said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1334489#Comment_1334489

True. Since by using self caring in that way, they are just putting themselves in danger for longer with way more risk of the killer showing up. When they don't need to, when a team mate is right next to them.

please, I’ve unhooked teammates with well make it and had them ignore me to self care

  • The Devs haven’t and won’t say anything but first I think they reverted SWF to match up against the LOWEST survivor instead of the HIGHEST like it was changed to.

Secondly, you can expect to receive dozens of replies stating “the Devs are aware and MMR is coming.” Basically all that’s going to do is hide the fact that games are unequal.

I dont believe they're greedy by any means. I just wish they hadn't made the very vocal point of "It'll only be 20% dont worry!" then completely gone back on that.

    @Fibijean said:

Just for the record, so we're all operating on accurate information, here is exactly what they said when they released the Store:

"When Chapter 8 releases, we are creating 4 different “tiers” of outfits (common, uncommon, rare, very rare). All the outfits are accessible with Auric Cells and about 80% of them are unlockable with Iridescent Shards. And you always get to buy exactly what you want."

Notice they say that about 80% of the outfits are unlockable with shards. Present tense. In other words, they're talking about the cosmetics available when the Store was released, and no promises for the future were made regarding pricing. I can understand why some people may have interpreted it differently, and if you want to argue that more cosmetics should be available for shards that's fine, but in context it doesn't look to me like they "lied" about anything.

    https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/our-store-philosophy

So @kate_best_girl since we have the quote where they say it would be 20% at release, can you point us toward the quote where they VERY VOCALLY STRESSED that they planned on it being 20-80 ratio going forward as well?

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

I've personally stopped using Self-Care for the moment as an experiment. I run Bond anyway, so it's not like it's hard for me to find somebody to heal me.

But frankly, this whole attitude that "Self Care Sucks" makes zero sense to me. It's only a 50 percent decrease in heal time. Sure, another person can heal you in half the time, but I think people fail to realize that's now TWO people not getting anything done. In man-hours lost, it equal the same amount of time as one person self-caring. Time wasted is not a good justification to not use it - it's the same man-hours either way.

Yep the math like that shows self care isn’t a bad perk, plus there’s a teeny bit of travel time most likely. People started hating on self care because of blendettes healing against sloppy butcher and somehow it evolved into self care sucks, period!

A Killer which can blink onto Survivor? Ignoring Pallets and Windows? Which other Killers cannot?

Nurse only exists because it was such an early time of the game. Something like Nurse would not be created in 2020.

100% this. Can you imagine if they even tried a blinking killer now, you think the nurse nerfs were bad a new killer would have been a joke. Just look at the perks they make now compared to previously.

Honestly. In otz's add on tier list I dont think a single Iri made it past b besides iridescent heads for huntress.

I’m pretty sure the Spirit’s speed addon was at least A, and the Hag had an S. I would imagine for Doctor at least queen or king is A if not both. The silent wraith bell and plague aura were both A or S.

The clown instant down finger was S even though he added the disclaimer it doesn’t make clown a “good killer.”

    I... wasn't calling it guesing.

There are a limited number of things she can be doing. Usually you have several options that would counter all or most of those things, so you pick the best one. Assume she is both phasing after you and standing still.

Sorry I was saying the other person called it guessing and you explained very clearly how it wasn’t, didn’t mean to imply that.

  • @Theetis said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1333317#Comment_1333317

Oh darn, you're supposed to have more than one chase with the Spirit? It's weird, for some reason whenever she downs me and puts me on a hook my character unvoluntarily tries to unhook themselves, and then my struggle button isn't responding at all.

Maybe it's a part of her mindgames too.

I guess that works out though, because I get to move on to a match where I actually get to interact with the killer during chases.

    @Freesham said:

I don't see how playing against Spirit is that much of an issue. Don't play against them the same way you do regular M1 killers. Is she phasing? Stop running and start walking/crouching so she can't hear you. Consider slow vaulting windows while she's phasing to confuse her. Don't camp the pallet thinking you'll stun her before she pops out and hits you. If you need even more help, run Iron Will, it's good against killers in general to escape chases.

So try learning how to play against a killer instead of making excuses and giving up at the start.

You see Freesham people like Theetis think “interacting,” with the killer means dropping a pallet and running around in circles for 20 seconds before moving on to another loop. They also think Freddy is boring and Doctor is OP so they will kill themselves over and over until they get a game against Clown. Then they proceed to escape and say “get gud baby killer,” in end game chat

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1333266#Comment_1333266

If you think it's a coin flip you just don't understand how to play against her. I bet you are one of those "but you don't know if she is phase or not". You don't need to know this actually.

There are only a finite number of things she can actually do. If you see her stand still she is A) standing still, B) phase walking. If you just run to the next tile then you beat A because now you gained distance and unless she has duration/speed add-ons chances are she won't be able to catch up if she starts phasing AFTER the fact. If you break LOS of the husk and then bait a vault or backtrack, you beat B. You can do both at the same time and beat both.

If she is far behind you then chances are high she is phasing after you. Vault a window. It's really that simple. Most of the time she won't have enough to phase around to the other side of the window and hit you. So you vault the window, then run to the next next tile. Keep doing this and you can make a chase with Spirit last quite a while. The only way she can beat you is if she has both MDR and Amulet, which is unlikely (not to mention that if she does you can more effectively back track or take unusual pathing since she can't see scratch marks).

But sure, it's a coin flip. Just guess! Because she can do 10 things at once. Okay.

The first chase you’re blind but after that you know what she did the first time so you assume she’s going to do it again and do the opposite. Or you assume she’s going to assume you do the opposite and she’ll react to that.

You call that guessing If you want I call it a mind game.

Its like poker if a guy bets really big and you see he bluffs and then bets really big again later is he bluffing again or was the first time to set you up?

In baseball if a pitcher had thrown a first fastball when you last set batted is he going to do it again or will he switch it up.

Again you can call these guesses Or coin flops but anyone who’s ever played sports or games will tell you these things aren’t pure luck. Blaming everything on luck is just making excuses for losing.

The thing with SB and Head On is that its difficult as another survivor to see the use someone is getting out of it. Its easy to see someone self-caring in a corner or during a Legion with Thana.

I have no idea is Claudette has used her SB to great/poor effect and thus am unable to comment on its use.

So here’s the curse of running Bond or Kindred every game, you DO see what your teammates are doing.

Ive seen someone walk across the whole map to unhook me to save their sprint burst, me going to second stage because of it. I’m not saying everyone or even a majority do it, and I still think SB is one of the strongest perks in the game!

I’ve seen survivors Deliverence instantly in front of the killer, without DS, and go right back on the hook. I still think deliverance can be a game changing perk.

All I’m saying sometimes it isn’t the perk that is bad it’s how it’s used. I very rarely use self care because I prefer medkits but sometimes I switch things up and I don’t think I’m a bad player all of a sudden because I brought self care.

Holy ######### noed has a counter? That's crazy dude. I thought the hex was just a pointless attachment. And hitting red ranks as killer 100% = skill. Why else would there be a red rank killer shortage if it was so easy to get to?

Because playing killer at red rank is stressful, not just about difficulty. Again I’ve been red rank for a long time I’m not saying it’s no skill at all but I’ve played against plenty of green and purple killers better than red.

  • @Zeidoktor said:

My initial thought was a BP bonus as was mentioned already, a general boost to gains like what Distressing or Thrill of the Hunt give Killers, but to a category like Boldness in particular or to BP gains in general.

Another thought would be to buff with more "partial perks". You anyway get a weaker version of Iron Will and Unbreakable (in the sense that the revival is normal speed), so how about weaker versions of Resilience for actions (lower %than actual resilience but still a bump up) or Mettle of Man (taking a Protection Hit offers a Luck based chance of not being put into Dying State) , or something like the old, non- obsession version of Decisive Strike (get a chance to escape if hit wiggle a certain amount).

The basic idea is to make the rewards worth the risk. Either with more bloodpoint gains or by adding more "mini-perks" to what's already there.

I see the bonus BP idea a lot and honestly I don’t like it. If they changed nothing else but made No Mither give extra blood points people would play it for their own benefit at the expense of the team. You would start having 1-2 teammates every game running it. The kill rate stats would go through the roof.
