I think everything about the chapter is fantastic EXCEPT the Punishment of The Damned ability. It’s far too clunky.
His movement when dragging Or turning to aim are bad I agree. Maybe if it was smoother he will be stronger and too oppressive in chases

The map in terms of layout and design is amazing, anyone who hasn't played PTB isn't used to it and are usually the ones complaining about how much it sucks.
Pyramid Head is fine and doesn't need a nerf, his power is clunky to use if anything with one of his perks being pretty useless to use. Tunneling Killers will tunnel regardless of what Killer they play.
Cheryl is a great character, all of her perks, especially Repressed Alliance, are pretty good with the exception of Soul Guard which is entirely situational. Supposedly there is extreme toxicity towards the Lisa Garland skin but I don't know about that nor have I seen it.
The only problem I've been seeing and experiencing is the multitude of bugs that have came with this chapter on both the new map and others. Unable to move a certain direction because of invisible objects in your path, unable to escape through hatches or destroy pallets because objects being too close or blocking the way, Forced Penance perk giving you a weird text and BP when you hit a Survivor doing a protection hit, etc.
But no, let's bash the Killer and map because we don't know how to play the new content yet. Remember the same thing happening when Chains of Hate came out? Look how long all that died down when people learned what to do.
I'm not hating on the killer or map, I am just amazed that they fixed 1 sound bug and broke literally everything else about sound.

Yeah, after fully prestiging 10 or 11 killers, it just becomes a job to prestige the rest as well.
I MAY do one survivor, and just the hatchet for the Huntress but I need to find a gameplay video of her with it first.

It’s no longer possible to see the killer in any way and a ton of people got banned by EAC for using external programs (though I believe some then got unbanned). This is what I’ve been told at least.
Awesome I can stop doing that Doctor Wraith mind game lol Thank you!

Many perks aside from those are strong and you can still get by without it. Bond, Spine Chill, DH, Prove Thyself, Repressed Alliance, etc. You could easily replace those Meta perks with other perks that are also considered Meta if not just as good and not widely used. If you run into a Killer that doesn't tunnel or camp in a match, how effective was your BT or DS? PH doesn't affect, in fact no Killer does Adrenaline at all, and if he uses Cage the entire game, he will never use BBQ.
yep!
Plague counters adrenaline most times, Freddy counters BT already, killers like Hintress and clown have common addons that counter exhaustion perks, etc

Do you know if they fixed the program that does it as well or just the other way?

1) Last Man Standing - where there are no gens or exit gates. Survivors compete with each other for BP objectives while killer tries to kill them all. Bronze, silver, gold, iri ranks. Perks and in game interactable objects revolve around decoys, traps, and ratting out teammates in order to get ahead. Could make this 4v1, 5v1, 6v1 etc only reward top 3 or 4 place.
2) Invader - survivors who escape a trial have the option to risk some or all their BPs to be hot dropped into a game in progress (4+ gens remain). They and all survs and killer gets a BP boost. They glow and have a unique icon in the bottom corner. Killer gets an advantage buff like haste, blindness on survs, etc.
Last man standing sounds amazing!
Invader sounds like a bug fest waiting to happen not gonna lie, but if done properly would definitely spice things up.

Allow your KYF lobby to find more players. Basically a 'for fun' mode where everyone has every perk to try out new builds or just mess around.
But a 2v8 or 2v10 would be fun chaos
But I think what would be a lot of fun is just another mode that's not holding down M1 and doing gens. Maybe just a perkless mode where the players have to simply survive for 15 or 20 minutes, with fewer lockers.
Seems to be a lot of interest in a mode where everyone just tries to stay alive as long as possible!

you say look at other games so ok lets look at other games. Lets take conan for example, a very huge game, very popular game, made by a company that has way more hand and $$ than dbd. Their last update broke their game so badly people could literally only play single player and this lasted weeks. Conan has always had several severe game breaking bugs/crashes etc but they never talk to their community like the DBD devs do, and this is where the dbd devs stand out among the more 'well known' companies. Ark is another great example. Constant game breaking bugs that dont get fixed or months/years and they rarely communicate any issues. The dbd team might be much smaller, but they communicate a million times more, and usually better than bigger game companies/devs. and they dont even have to but they love their game and community so they try to communicate as much as they can when they can.
Okay let's take one of the largest MMORPGs ever, maybe one of the largest games ever World of Warcraft. Now it did have it's share of bugs but throughout the time I played it since Burning Crusade less than a handful lasted even longer than a few days. And they constantly gave updates even when something wasn't being fixed that it was being worked on.
Asking for some kind of "morning bug update," where the Devs say we know about Issue A,B and C. Issue A is taking priority now because it impacts the game but we are aware of B and C as well. That isn't a grand demand.

15 various pick up/carry/hook related perks it counters. "Change up your limited build choice or risk having parts of it not work at all" is not what I would call good incentive. Personally I think hard counters has no place in the game. Its lazy and as mentioned earlier it feels awful for the receiving end.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1359331#Comment_1359331
Self Care is a special case, its popular in solo because it gives the user full control over when and where to heal without reliance on the other solo survivors. Solo survivors tend to put their own survival over the teams survival.
As far as the meta list go, I agree, sounds about right in my experience too. And I think most of the perk collection being mediocre to straight up awful contributes a lot to this result.
As for killers with alternative play styles to play around, you can have that without a bunch of hard counters to perks.
Okay so out of those 15 hook related survivor perks how many get used? I mean sorry if it counters your Boil Over/Breakout build but so does just getting picked up by the killer.
Also as a tradeoff a killer using it loses BBQ, Pop, etc. Now granted they have control over that but the cages aren't just a positive. They have a downside too.

I play DBD on PS4, and last night every single Pyramid Head we faced seemed like he was wearing jet powered shoes because he managed to catch up to us almost immediately in every single chase. Most of the Pyramid Heads too also only had level one perks exclusive to the character, so there was nothing like PWYF involved.
Am I missing something here? Did anyone else notice this? It seemed like he had a constant blood lust affect going on.

Nothing seemed off last night when I played against him from release early morning to late last night. His lunge is normal, his speed his normal in both modes, his reach is the same. You might be playing into his zoning too much and losing ground.
Ps4 btw
This is the reason. Maybe you don’t even realize it but subconsciously juking just slightly left to right from fear of his ranged attack. So you’re slowing yourself down and as a result think he’s going faster.
The same thing almost turns Slinger and huntress into a 115% killer even though they’re 110, survivors won’t just run straight ahead in an open space
-
Recently? They patched it out over a year ago so when was the last time you actually had it happen, if it’s been since then it’s a bug.

Considering WGLF gives you a stack for untrapping, flashlight saves ect. I think it should also give a stack for saving from a cage, especially since the perk has literally no benefit within the match itself. Other perks I understand but I think an exception could be made for WGLF.
It definitely does not give a stack for flashlights or pallet saves, or for un trapping someone unless you’re eating a hit at the same time.

I use the Rites oJ to more accurately predict my snipes. Survivors affected by it leave behind a trail so I can track them. If you down a tormented survivor next to a hooked one, you can send him to the naughty box and you now have two survivors that are far apart that need rescuing. The ability to use a naughty box scares the survivors.
I use add-ons to prolong the time it's on the map so that they're still there later on :)
I think the extended duration are his strongest addons honestly

Yeah, just silly. I'd rather have people have lives and treat work as work - especially for something as trivial as a game, than have things instantly or immediately. I work in a time critical industry and my partner works with critical health care equipment so it's not like there aren't important things out there. Games are a luxury and even though I paid for a game, if it takes a while to address or fix something, I'll live. I have plenty in my life besides DBD if there's an issue with it.
Again not asking them to put in EXTRA time, just suggesting they make people available at different hours.
-
To add to my OP, I don’t claim to know how to run BHVR or all of their inner workings. I’m simply starting if you look at other companies on release days they adjust their schedules. For example half of the staff will work “normal hours,” and the other half works later to address issues. Or do the reset at 9 am instead of 11.
Again to put my own company into example, last year we rolled out a new operating system and literally half of the tech team was switched from their 9-5 shift to work 4-midnight because we knew there would be issues.
Im not asking people to work 24/7 just split up the shifts

I mean why even use PH then?! It’s not like his ranged attack is any good. The time saved sending to a cage rather than carrying to a hook is supposed to be time used pressuring gens.
His ranged attack Is great for zoning, or rather faking it is. That split second pump fake of grabbing your side can make survivors afraid to drop pallets or vault windows. And then if they do you hit them.

I see for example some Inner Strength running around. Arguably the best healing perk. Still I see more Selfcare and the DS/Unbreakable/BT/Spinechill meta has not been touched in the slightest way. Same for Kindred, which is arguably one of the best solo perks, at least when you trust the feedback. I don't even see the perk that often. How about Bond? Look at the feedback and how high it is praised to be a better healing perk than Selfcare. Still at the same pickrate like Kindred.
The 4 mentioned meta perks will never be touched unless you create OP perks. Or bring in more killers like Pyramid Head that have alternative playstyles to play around that.
I counted some of my games with an extended list of meta perks being the above 4, Iron Will, Adrenaline + "Exhaustion perk" (DeadHard, Lithe etc. -> that's why I say "extended" because like everyone runs an exhaustion perk but not everyone runs the same, depending on playstyle). In like 80-90% of the games there are 10+ of all 16 perks from this extended list, the average is probably around 12. Just a rough guess on the average, I would need to note, but pretty sure on the 10+ percentage
I agree, I should start writing it down but as a killer and solo survivor I will say I am shocked when a player doesn’t have 3 of the extended meta perks you’re talking about. I personally feel like a moron if I don’t run exhaustion, why, because even the worst one Lithe is pretty dang strong.

Thanks guys, glad I’m not imagine it. I can get used to it then if it’s by design

Well seeing as I was working until 3am (UK time) this morning and was back here by 7am this morning - I will totally refute that.
Bugs are not going to be fixed overnight, plus it takes time to collate things, test them and find out how the bug was created in the first place - so these things are scheduled except for game breaking bugs.
We don't tend to announce what we are looking into, we acknowledge bug reports when things can be reproduced so that people are aware of what is a bug/isn't a bug etc but other than that we have our schedules which we follow.
I certainly appreciate the hours you’re putting in, and I certainly don’t except details, but you can see how no reply makes your customers feel like you aren’t doing anything right?
Again that last sentence goes to ANY COMPANY. If a bunch of credit cards get hacked on Black Friday because of a target database error then target says something immediately to notify people they’re lookin into it. They don’t want until everything is secure to put out notice.
If there is a crime the police say they’re looking into but can’t comment further because of legal reasons. But again they do acknowledge it.
My company had a huge issue recently with Past due bills being sent out in error, we didn’t know how exactly or how to prevent it again but we did... say... something to acknowledge it.

Yes buffing older, weaker perks is one is one of the obvious ways to do it. And I dont agree that this would bring imbalance at all. There should absolutely be a baseline for how powerful perks are and at the moment it swings waaay too much from the best to the worst. And there is far more ######### tier perks than good, on both sides. The more perks closer to each other in power level the more variance we would see in the "meta".
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1359258#Comment_1359258
Ah yes, nothing like a passive aggressive response with baseless assumptions to my play style and perks of choice and not a single argument for or against the actual topic at hand.
Okay to your argument, I disagree. I do not think it is bad that some killers flat out ignore certain perks. It gives people incentive to try other perks out, or to keep playing your build but risk going with 2-3 perks if the killer counters them.
For example Kindred was in my build 99% of the time, yesterday I swapped it to Bond because I knew the cages would hurt kindred.
Normally on release day I run WGLF for points, I still did even though it only works on regular hooks you can still get a few of those plus protection hits.
So I don’t assume, what is In your build that is being ruined by the mechanics?

As with plague, as with freddy, the whole cage mechanic just straight up denying perks is lazy and awful game design. Only good part about the cages is the changed struggle phase. You have a very limited loadout as is, you should not have to gamble on being allowed to use it every other match. There is better ways to shake up metas.
You have 70+ perks to choose from, sorry you can’t run DS and BT to unhook in the killer’s face and then feel invincible for a minute

This game doesn't explain anything to you. What is hemorrhage? What is broken? Exposed.. does that mean he can see me? It gives you some clue about the killer you face during the loading screen, but not enough details for more complicated killers. I enjoyed the game enough to pour through the wiki and learn everything. To make things worse, there are SO MANY perks and addons. KYF is overwhelming for your first time.
This is a very good point. The first few times I played I was so confused I didn’t play for a few months. Then somehow YouTube decided DBD content was good for me so I watched and learned that way.

Well, it’s kind of on survivors to check gen positions as well. If everyone just starts chunking then out without regard to which will be left that is on the survivors.
Not too long ago I went a couple days and literally every game ended with a 3-gen so I start paying attention early. If I spawn on a gen I’ll work that, but if I finish and see another gen like 10 meters away I don’t hop on it. I think most people would and that’s how we end up screwed

So it indirectly makes it stronger in the short range then?
Yes, if they’re 4 meters away it will get to them just a tiny tad quicker than it would if you didn’t have addons. Again this is just my understanding of the results I watched testing.
Somethjng else that works like this is the Clown Addons that cause the cloud to cover more area, Otz explains it very well that it causes them to fill that larger area in the same time. So it will just barely catch someone that it may have missed without addons. Watching that would be better than me trying to explain it I’m bad at it lol.
Admittedly going from 8 meters to 9.5 isn’t great, even stacking green yellow to get 10.5 isn’t even huge but it’s probably his best option at least for me

If that's the case I will probably try and get as many wax doll addons as possible. Seems to be somewhat realistic for consistent use. Maybe Wax Doll and Black Straps? Nothing too crazy but potentially useful if it really makes the damage-wave travel faster.
I am pretty sure that's how it works, that's how the tests I watched all seemed to work. It travels 8 meters in whatever time, each section filling up in .03 seconds or something ridiculously small... if you add 1.5 meters then each segment is SLIGHTLY longer but fills up in .03 seconds still. If anything this makes it harder to dodge but again that is IF i understand the tests correctly. For me nothing else looks exciting so I may as well extend the reach
-
@Yamaoka said:
Honestly I probably won't bother with his addons too much considering they don't seem to be all that strong. His range addons increase the range by 0.5m (brown), 1.0m (yellow) and 1.5m (green). Might as well play without them given the fact it's easier to dodge the ranged attack the more distance you have.
More distance makes the animation move faster so it doesn't get easier to dodge

I like the trail duration, as that makes it easier to track survivors as the game is winding down and enables you to force survivors into Torment or run without a loop.
Trail recharge is also really good since you can leave trails in a chase and then have enough charge to attack if you need to use your ranged hit.
Honestly, the add-ons might be generic, but they all are pretty much useful. although, Purple and Pink ones are extremely niche.
Reminds me of Hag, her brown through greens for range and setting time are almost her best addons
