I think you did not understand what AmpersandUnderscore said - it is completely correct that your MMR is roughly at your average MMR for new Killers or Killers you have not played in a while. And obviously you will perform worse with those, simply because you are either new or rusty with them.

And this makes total sense - if your MMR would be much lower than your average MMR, you will just win a bunch of games without any effort (since you dont forget how to play Killer in general) before you are at a suitable MMR where you probably would get crushed anyway because you increased your MMR so fast.

I guess but the problem is also where you could get destroyed for a bunch of matches and get just that one match where your at a good level before being destroyed again all because you didn't want to play the same character.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

MMR is per killer. Killers you've never played before start at essentially your average rating and lowered slightly so you can learn them.

That doesn't seem to be the case for me. I decided to play Vecna because I haven't played him in a good while and then suddenly boom I was basically drop kicked by survivors because sorry you didn't play your main.

they really need to look at the parts of his kit/addons that just allow him to get maximum efficiency with little to no effort. to start i would completely rework yamoris mask and red headed centipede. those 2 addons give WAY too much consistent value for the low effort you put into getting them to activate. next they need to nerf his vault speed while enraged. we’ve known ever since og chucky 2 YEARS AGO that killers having the ability to vault/scamper (for chuckys sake) over pallets quickly and down survivors shorty after is very unhealthy gameplay. but yet over 8 months after his release, kaneki can still vault at lighting speed while krasue got her vault speed nerfed 1 week after she came out.

That's the thing Chucky's scamper was broken with add-ons and well annoying without. But this was also the second time they did a killer who can vault and hit(I think Wesker was out at the time but that was more you have to vault and have the survivor right against you for the hit). But they changed him so scampering needs to be part of his charge attack which can still be tricky at times to get the turning right but still. I would say for ghoul he can vault but survivors shouldn't get hindered because of it since I think it's 20% yeah good luck he can recover and catch up to you by the time it's 75% done.

the bubble is just as annoying for killer with the gates. i have had clear line of sight of both gates but cant actually see if anyone is opening them because the bubble hides them. when it goes away, oh red lights starting on 1 of the gates because someone was waiting by the gate for the last gen to pop.

What's worse is it loves to take it's time. I get if your far away or it's hidden behind a massive wall yeah let's give you the bubble so you at least get a major idea where the gate is but I'm on a hill with clear line of sight of both gates I don't need the bubble.

  • @cogsturning said:

This is pretty player specific. A cracked flashlight user vs a killer without Lightborn can decide a match. I had one yesterday where a friend got two saves on me in a row then pallet stunned another save. Killer DCed. On the flipside, I have a couple friends who always bring flashlights yet never seem to get saves, and they are pretty much guaranteed to get slugged. Flashlights, to me, are better for party players on comms, where you can communicate your tactics, and you also know what to expect.

But soloqing also means you're signing up for a match where everyone might do whatever they please. If flashlights tilt you, dodge.

It's that specific area that shows a lot when I play soloQ. I think it's less survivor with the flashlight and more the idea of. You would rather follow me the entire time instead of body blocking if your on death hook and I'm not then yeah makes sense but it's more when I clearly see them hiding and know I'm screwed because they couldn't have just taken a hit. Against an Oni yeah rather not give him his power but still.

  • Labor of love means also taking care of the game both content and health. With what I've seen/heard they've done the content...not the health as much with PTBs that clearly never went through as they showed their ideas were not super thought out but also caused a few other problems. They wanted to prevent anti-tunneling cool...by making a PTB that never went through. Now many games have made test builds or ideas that never saw the light of day but usually it's when they adjust it to a new idea or simply scrap it because it might cause more problems. DBD shouldn't get labor of love because BHVR hasn't been focusing on the health aspect all that much there things that need major adjustments or simple changes...they never did that. So my vote won't be going to dbd because I'm sorry I see the labor but not the love of making the game better.

No. This new system rewards people who play all their matches and dc rarely, while significantly punishing quitters more. It does not get better than that

I will say that your not wrong the only time I find the system a little annoying is if let's say a server crashes then boom your stuck with a DC penalty which can be annoying if for some reason you have garbage luck and the server just decides nah on you. I would say then there's a valid to be upset with the DC penalty is when the penalty happens by something out of your control but if your DCing constantly to the point you have a 24 hour penalty(which fun fact I got once because the servers were being very buggy for me that and my internet was bejng terrible) then the point isn't valid.

for me it seems every duo has to hump somebody they downed. the power for two people to be able to dominate any one person seems to get to these peoples heads. I never tbag at gates but these are the people I say it's justified to wait out the timer and force them to see you off.

I'm just trying to uplift our spirits with the most terrible looking Ace combo with the mad hat, bright pink sweater and the fisherman boots :(

Now I'll say I have had my toxic moments but I only do it when the other is being toxic. A survivor wants to tbag? Cool I hump when your downed because hey you wanted to be cocky and look how that turned out.

Honestly might just be unluck, my experience (and my girlfriends experience because we always played together) is that people in this mode are actually nicer than in 1vs4 normally. I'm actually surprised sometimes how little I get insulted haha xD

Maybe it is just bad luck but I also love seeing toxic people get screwed during the match because they played a little to risky

  • @fussy said:

I noticed way more toxicity since pallet density update even in normal queue and not like I am surprised. Back in the days, the stronger survivors were, more toxic they were to killer for no reason. Because, why not mocking your opponent, when you are almost invincible, right?
And now I find myself in this situation pretty often: entity knows why I picked low/mid tier killer, and every one emotes me / teabaging me from the start, standing near 6 connected pallets and tiles.
And it's normal queue, what should you except from 2v8, which is survivor sided to some ludicrous degree?
Not like I didn't see "gg ez" from killers, there are a lot of sore winners too, but I think it's almost the rule: the stronger survivors are – more toxic they are.

In 2v8 I kinda just made an unspoken rule when playing killer. If a survivor decides to teabag me I'm going only after them if I find them so yeah I will tunnel though weird grey area where I still go after others but if I spot that teabagger they're my main priority and what's funny same teabagger still goes down quickly simple you wanna be toxic I'll be toxic back.

  • Oh I don't mind a gg but I don't get the point of ggez. Your not being toxic...your just being [insert a word I can't think of]

  • @ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:

Everytime i see ggez i say "you know what else is ez?"(Insert easy to make food name)

    More power to you then.

I'm glad there are still people who don't want just run the same 10 perks.

If I can recommend an off-meta slowdown, I can reccomend Scourge Hook:Gift of Pain, or Oppresion and Overcharge.

    I use oppression actually

Both a grindy as hell to be honest.

But the two most difficult archivments in my opinion are:

Left behind: After all Survivors are sacrifed repair a generator and escape through the gates.

The other one I sadly don´t remember the name but you have to escape a round on the asylum without getting hit once.

I got left behind by a good killer which I did for a bit then stopped because i wanted too plus with cross-play you couldn't tell if the person had it or not

And other one on your talking about I got via a Trapper which I nearly failed because of a bear trap in a doorway.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/459896/realized-dying-light-is-super-useful

Its really not. 3% off of gens means that instead of taking 90 seconds, a gen takes 92.78 seconds. So for every hook, you make gens take 2.78 seconds longer. If you pair that against say pain resonance which will knock 80% off a gen and buys you a total of 72 seconds of time. Even assuming survivors just don't touch any gens during the time it takes you to build up stacks (because partially complete gens will knock off less repair speed) you'd need to get 6 hooks on non-obsessions in order to get the same time efficiency that you get from pain resonance. In reality, given that survivors will be doing gens while you are getting those hooks, it will never even come close to the time efficiency you get from most other gen perks.

Its a perk that you get when you want to win more. If it helps you, you were going to win anyway, so its not really helping you win more games.

Well I find it useful maybe it's a placebo effect but I just find it better then using the meta of Pain: Res and dead man.

  • Kinda the same thing with killers where people back then before the penalty would just straight up DC because they didn't like the killer you picked. All lot of the time it's stereotypes of a fraction of the player base that plays that survivor and every survivor has a stereotype to it just some are seen as not helpful or selfish even though if your in solo queue your probably dead in the end because the SWF won't rescue the random.

Overall play who you want I mean I play Jeff how I want since he was always a low picked survivor so I started maining him. But as long as your not being a massive jerk to feed the stereotype you can who you like.

  • @SoGo said:

Dying Light is a perk that lets you win more.

I find it rather useless because of this.

Since, yes, you get 8 stacks and a 24% speed penalty, but the game is almost over anyway.

I get what you mean by that but I think even at six stakes which would be all three non-obsessions at death hook it's still really useful

  • @Jay_Whyask said:

Survivors can't stand back up in the void?

I'm pretty sure they could last time, am I misremembering?

Maybe but I'm not 100% sure but I mean also the void being a once a year thing you wouldn't bring perks that give you endurance so the killer can just hit and down you again and well repeat the cycle

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/459562/people-just-love-ruining-events

It’s the same on both sides tbh. I’ve seen the complaints and been on the receiving end of tunnelling full metal Ghouls who never interact with the event; so I’ve been playing Springtrap with all aura perks so no gen regression, going into void and kicking pumpkins, meanwhile the survivors mostly never go into the void and just smash gens out then leave and I’m lucky to get 1k because I’m spreading hooks.

I think people should try and match the other teams energy, so if one side is not playing hard then they should reign it in a bit. Of course you can’t tell people how to play and they’re gonna do what they want though 🤷

I know my opinion won't change a single thing but it bugs me at times that it happens during events...for what?

  • @vol4r said:

Oh I had a mad Aestri yesterday.

Surviviors were doing gens, other people were playing normally.

When I came to him he would play the tamburine, for the 2nd time he was doing a gen and stood still when I came.

For the third time he stood still in the basement where he was hooked, so I killed him and he instantly DCed.

In the end-game chat he was really mad that I was sweating (for me it was normal gameplay for the win) and that I was ruining the game for people.

He didn't consider that I was losing the gens, he didn't consider that his friends were playing normally. He was just mad that I didnt play by his rules.

After blaming me for his miserable experience he wanted to know my name - just for him to say to his opponenets that I WAS the reason he is playing that way.

Killers don't need to be nice to you, if they want to win the games and that brings them fun. Play some offline matches if you want to just goof around, do it with your friends - not the random person from the internet, because they might not have the same goal.

What you did is fine and overall pretty normal I get it's an event so not everyone is playing nicely but I've had matches where the killer camps(because at a certain distance they no longer fill the self unhook bar), tunnel or slug. I just want to enjoy the event but it's those killers that make the event miserable. I had a Dracula who started hard core tunneling because he lost three gens...because he was tunneling by the end he won because again tunnel and camped...mixed with it being the most open map in the game rotten fields. But it more annoys me that people do that for an event when the whole point of the event is just to enjoy a random thing.

Not if you hide and only ever get hatch. Hatch doesn't raise MMR. Rats can only go so far playing like that.

Unless you bring Sole Survivor and Wake up then somehow the killer doesn't think that checking both gates and one with a light on means I should check around a bit.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/459162/guess-this-game-favors-cowards

i mean if it works it works. if it doesnt work then the meg messed up big time. welcome to soloq lol i learnt the hard way this is often the best way to escape. i cant rely on my team to perform well or take hits for me or even do gens or unhook me. result is, i dont take hits for the team unless it benefits my chances to escape. But when all gens are done, gates open, i dont care if i have 0 hooks and full health with 2 others with me while 1 is on hook….im walking out the gate. if the other 2 want to go for the save they can but im out. likewise if i think my team is going to go down in seconds before the gens can be done im going for hatch not saves. the hate i get is astonishing lol but what do i care when im the sole survivor that escaped?

I can't have the mentality since fun fact. I act selfish(not saying self preservation in dbd is bad) I get called out for it like when NOED was a big deal and never had an aura if you were near death and it happened to show up yeah it meant leave since you didn't want to risk it and then you get called out for it. You try to be a good teammate called out for being terrible or just abandoned even though saved everyone and they were all healthy by the end.

  • @cogsturning said:

I don't know who considers that a high skill level...

Dbd apparently since escapes means yeah you're in high mmr

  • I started playing back in 2018 and loved the game and would only play dbd. Then the downward spiral came maybe in 2020. It was when got a little to competitive and would get mad if I lost but then slowly stopped and just enjoyed the game then once cross-platform and the mmr system came then it became worse. Not that cross-platform was bad but the spiral showed up again around that time. Basically mmr being well mmr it would put me with players that either were way to out of my skill level(aka a killer that was way to hard for me to face) or survivors that were also same thing out of my skill level. After a while I slowly stopped playing dbd because MMR being annoying and also people ruining the game aka constant slugging and tunneling currently but also just to toxic for my own enjoyment. So I play off and on currently just wanting to enjoy the event but of course slugging and tunneling are present even in a event that shouldn't be taken seriously. I found other horror games that involve team work mostly Outlast Trials but dbd isn't what I remember it does suck I know BHVR said they were making a new matchmaking system that was in their words "controversial" I mean not everyone is going to like it and for those who basically tunnel and slug they'll realize that doesn't get them to far in the end. But anyways yeah dbd isn't the same anymore so I don't play it 24/7 instead your looking at maybe...3 or 2 days out of the week I'll play.

  • @MarbleThrone said:

Lightborn is indeed fine, for the fact that it's a double-edged sword.

You will prevent an (early) flashlight save or two, but once survivors catch on they'll not follow you around anymore and instead be more efficient on gens. Or find other means to be altruistic.

It's a risk you take as Killer.

You would be surprised. The number of matches that I've had used lightborn someone tries blinding fails because lightborn and still keeps trying to blind. A full flashlight user will refuse to let go of their flashlight or even do anything else.

  • @AcesSpeedo said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4012594#Comment_4012594

yea i can understand why people run it, i'd be lying if i said i've never seen 4 flashlights and stuck on lightborn because of it xd i do think a rework would be good with the current direction dbd seems to be heading too though

i think the lobby dodging could also be fixed (maybe) by removing survivor items from the lobby screen, but i dont know how the community would react to this, devs love the whole "not knowing what you're versing" idea so im confused why they werent hidden from the beginning

im also surprised they havent added a toggle to make flashlight blinds dark instead of blindingly bright by now

Having a rework would be nice I will say this I have brought a flashlight or two in the past mostly for challenges since I'm not good at flashlight saves and have gotten screwed by lightborn. The reason I bring it is more the fact flashlights to me are connected to bully squads or just teammates who will follow the killer around while a teammate is being chased so they would rather have a teammate go down rather then protect them. So lightborn to me is more I bring it if I see a couple flashlights because I know these players won't let go of it at all even after realizing I have lightborn and more kinda a point to "you should try taking protection hits or doing gens rather then try to constantly follow me."

I would like to say if your friend will equip something as Shoulder the Burden, killer would be in lose lose situation anyway. I just using it for one week… and I can’t say how many times it just defined some tie or win

One stealthy guy with shoulder the burden is silent nightmare for any killer who get used to solo Q. I don’t know why people so afraid to use this perk

I think it's due to now the killer seeing hook states...they see you got it instead then boom they know okay I can just chase you out of the match since your exposed if I get there early or I just can get you out since you have 1 or 2 hook states left.

  • @AbsolutGrndZer0 said:

I say this with all due respect as someone who is terrible at looping and tends to both go down quickly and get hooked 3 times many times before everyone has has even 1 hook… Learn to loop and not go down, and the killer won't tunnel you.

In other words, if you are bad at the game, why wouldn't the killer take advantage of that? They shouldn't be punished for you (or me, I fully admit I am bad at survivor) being bad at the game.

The problem isn't looping and all that it's just tunneling suddenly starts because a single gen went off. Even if it took five minutes for the first gen to be complete suddenly it means the killer needs to start tunneling. I could rescue the person being tunneled and make myself go down and the killer will just slug to tunnel the person out.

Thats coming all the way in April unfortunately. They said they've talked to alot of different people (Content creators and competitive players) abt what they have in store for that change. Its supposed to be very big and potentially controversial

Okay better question...how does matchmaking work because clearly it doesn't exist everyone has said it's at high time(aka when a lot of folks are playing) but when is that since your looking at a lot of time zones and 24 hours in a single day. Also everything BHVR does is controversial since everyone goes with what the popular twitch streamers say.

  • I think only achievement that should be changed is skilled Huntress...on playstation 100 times is a little much and I've been at four for a while.

I think I'm done with 2v8 for a long time.

Thing is they have other game modes sure Chaos shuffle has shown it can be a little bad with perks that don't work with others or just a band hand but it's still fun and doesn't over stay it's welcome. Lights out is a game mode I loved because it didn't overstay it's welcome didn't try giving you to much to deal with all it was no perks, terror radius or scratch marks and you couldn't see plus it had one other iteration that just added a small thing. I know making new game modes can be tricky but still would be nice for something from like I don't know a survival mode no gens survivors just need to try surviving X amount of time it also helps practice chasing and looping.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

Yeah the game should boot them and replace them with a bot after a certain amount of time. Thats not fair to you.

I faced a legion who had a teammate just never move and sadly they got destroyed and were replaced by the bot at the very end of the match when it didn't matte

  • @indieeden7 said:

Have you seen its regression speeds????

No because I barely see any gens regressing or if they it's only a few seconds after the killer kicked it

  • @GuardianoftheCrystal said:

Generator speeds in my opinion have been probably buffed in this mode's time around. Not to mention they gave the survivors Blast Mine which is freaking annoying to go against and pretty much time consuming after you have to kick the generator a SECOND time. I honestly see no real reason they needed to add Mine Blast into this mode of all things.

I think it's because Guide originally gave a repair speed boost and well with the supposed buff you mentioned giving double repaired speed would be broken so they needed to give Guide something that being Blastmine and Wire tap which made Guide useless so everyone plays Escapist for the free sprint burst that you can use any time you want. Medic and Scout I think remained untouched because they're the perfect form they are not to weak but not to strong.

  • Springtrap to me I find is in a nice ground. Yes his perks are a little sloppy if you don't combo them but you can't always make perfect perks. Add-ons are good with a few eh mixed in like the perks not everything can be perfect. His power is also interesting while yes its just Huntress and Dredge mixed together it's still a little more interesting with survivor's able to interact with his power. So while he might need just a small tune up perk wise mostly haywire(that exit gate perk) since it's not bad...but is extremely situational.

  • Jeez I didn't really see the stream but knew of it but really it was that bad? Like I know no game is safe from hacking and all that but a lot of games still try to make something where it's less frequent. But BHVR's response to this will probably be.

"We're gonna look into it. Oh also here's a few nerfs that weren't really needed. A really overpowered buff and oh a few outfits."

If I had to quote my opinion on the game now(even though I still play it because of the money I spent.)

"You know when I was a kid, I used to think you were cool."

Any killers this could work on?

Well hey at least Skull Merchant isn't as bad a ghoul since she has counterplays

  • @GeneralV said:

If I understood it correctly, you have to activate the perk by being in the killer's terror radius but not in chase, then once it is activated you can use it at any given point, as long as you vault towards the killer.

But that's thing I had a survivor drop a pallet vault towards me and I didn't get stunned.

  • @Lixadonna said:

Onryo: The constant flickering in and out of sight. It's a pain to keep track of her and I hate it.

Knight: Getting wedge between him and his guards sucks. It often feels like you're forced into a lose lose situation with him.

Dredge as music or do you the constant wailing? Also i can see what you mean with nightfall the point is no visibility but it's annoying when you have a good chase going and a tiny tile just stops you.

  • If you mean Offerings like others have stated it's 20% now and if you Springtrap being invincible coming out the door it's because it's doing the animation before he regains collision. The door placement is RNG it spawns where Chest, totems and I think hooks spawn similar to green glyphs that spawn in totem spots. But his invincibility is like Alien's when coming out of a tunnel a few seconds before they can be stunned(even though that makes no sense) or blinded.

    Billy and Bubba.

Bubbas is basically "walk to survivor, rev saw, try to down survivor with saw no matter what, repeat".

Billy is similar to the above, except a faster timetable. A playstyle of "sprint across map till survivor is found, get to m1 range, rev saw, try downing with saw no matter what, repeat" with occasional "curve at this loop".

We can often guess their perks within the first 30 seconds of discovering who it is too, which doesn't help.

Yeah plus I mean there builds that can make him an M1 but still strong killer and use his chainsaw for map traversal
