Killers have no stance, the Devs didn't even look at the feedback from the Legion and Nurse changes during the PTB.
What makes you think that they will listen this time?
The alternative is to sit here and do nothing..much better results

How would a draw make them statistically weaker? By definition it makes it an even score
Because if two people at most go down that implies that's all that's needed to match the killers strength, leaving two more to boost capability even higher ..on top of that a killer can only be one place at a time while survivors can pressure the whole map at once essentially..a lot of fine details

You're missing my point, which is that much of the frustration is handcuffed to the timeline that is in play here. Spirit has been allowed to exist this way for 14 months, so why was she not "overperforming" before? Nurse was in the same boat (and hats off to @ArecBalrin for repeatedly articulating that about Nurse way better than I can here about Spirit), and we're seeing how that is now playing out.
The particular what of the Spirit nerfs is not the troubling thing here. It's how, when, and why the incoming nerfs got ran up the flagpole.
Oh no I understood you perfectly , however I doubt they've had long term plans for the spirit..until very recently she was everyone's favorite..but since nurse got slammed, why not her? Appearances aside they are targeting the best killers before bringing survivors up..between you and me I feel that is stupid because itll just stack on itself and turn a change from a small downgrade to a massive handicapping

When I see killer mains (and not.saying you are one) write things like,
"considered viable enough at present to fight on equal footing to well equipped teams"
I feel like they typically mean "able to get me a 4k against the best survivors". Ideally, if the best killer player vs 4 of the best survivors shouldn't the result be a 2k? i.e. a draw. I feel a lot of people that don't play both sides don't know what balance actually is...
Only if both sides play equally every step of the way..but that is not reality..by that logic it should be the killer gets a kill or two max when they were simply played well against..and 4k if they played very well..because saying a killer should get capped on two kills on equal footing means they are statistically weaker than the opposition..my point is..it should be able to swing either way..not just hard cap on performance

The bean counters care about this. The devs care about it to the extent that it continues to fund their development. They don't sit around in smoke-filled meeting rooms, with steepled fingers, cackling about how they're going to nerf everything and make everyone unhappy. That's not how you get players excited and compel them to spend money on your cosmetics. Occam's razor says the truth is probably much simpler, and I think it's down to... I dunno, let's call them "irresponsible response times."
Now, I should point out that I'm a Spirit player. I enjoy her kit, I do well with her, and I have sunk significant time and BP into her (she is one of only two killers that I have every perk on). I instinctively don't want to see her nerfed or changed because she's my character, but I also understand a lot of the arguments in favor of giving her more clear and less coin-flippy counterplay.
The problem is that the devs sit on their hands with this stuff, and by the time they address it, it's been an institutionalized problem for months. Spirit came out in, what, September 2018? So she's been this way for the last 14 months, and now they're putting the screws to her. It seems arbitrary that they could let something so problematic go on for this long, and it's only now suddenly a code red alarm.
So, because of this, it then comes across really reactionary to the player base. Reactionary to what, though? I dunno, she's suddenly "overperforming." The cynical view would be that the devs could just come out and say this at any time, to justify their actions in the wake of seeing consistent complaint threads about this killer. It never looks like there's much good faith going on with how these changes get rolled out, because there's no transparency to go along with it.
Maybe if Behaviour released monthly statistics about character usage rates, kill/survival percentages, item usage, etc. etc., these would be easier pills to swallow, because we would be able to see trends of activity and player behaviors. Plus, those kinds of stats would just be a REALLY cool thing to have.
But instead, all we have to go off of is that "Spirit is overperforming." That's why everyone is so frustrated with whatever is coming.
Because itll be like nurse..or like legion..watered down and weak..or strong but so stressful and with a mediocre payoff

Do you have a source for this? I am intrigued as they said that the Spirit was overperforming compared to other killers on the same stream where they confirmed changes for her.
That same stream they confirmed freddy has the highest kill rating..and I cant remember where but they did say trapper has the highest red rank ps4 kills..its actually quite a shock despite his weaker status..and their last stat reveal showed hag up there too
-
Ok I must admit..I love the mori idea..it adds more fear to the egc AND brings the trial to a more dramatic finish ..but..if moris go keys should as well
-
@SleepyWillo said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/822858#Comment_822858
I have to assume the difference is kill rating vs escape rating. a killer can get a 4k with no dc because the survivors deem the killer fair/balanced. A killer can also get 1k and no escapes because the survivors don't feel the match is fair.
I'll be blunt..its very obvious it was her dc rating that set this in motion..and the three killer hit hardest by changes up to know also had high DC rates..its not a coincidence
-
Because it would make head on potentially too easy to pull off..inner strength has over double the time needed to activate and has a prerequisite
-
@PolarBear said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/822818#Comment_822818
And how would you know that?
The devs have stated trapper, freddy, and hag are currently the killers with the highest kill ratings..so her kill rate isnt the issue..we all know what the real reason is
-
For me? I save my moris if their are 3 or more keys/toolboxes..and if the gens power up all the way I will simply guard my hook rather than give a free escape..and I cant help but nod at people who botch flashlight saves..I want to be cheeky..not a jerk lol

They tuned her down and i don't feel like they gonna do anything about her in near future. I really hope for a good Billy, Doctor and Bubba addon/base power change. Maybe they will be more fun in the future.
But never forget: Sally is bae!
If they touch Billy's power he will perish..hes already held in less regard than before

Hopefully your right. The nurse rework made me think the devs could mess up that one too. I mean they annouced the base nerf right before PTB.
I feel they should tone down the cool down or at least revert the cooldown addon nerf..they should be trying to compromise, not just pander

I feel like removing her collision could just kill her... I don’t think you see that what I propose adds a buff to the spirit also but removes her ability to randomly/luckily find the survivor.
You could play spirit like you normally do but if you look away from the survivor as the spirit you can’t hear her... that’s a powerful tool in place. It’s both a weakness for tracking and a strength for mind-gaming (when the spirit is likely going to track).
Her husk is still non-directional meaning the survivors won’t know where she’s coming from but they will know if she’s facing them.
I think base spirit powerlevel is fine... that’s why I see a more of a rework of her basekit in order than just a nerf.
I dont think the collision change would kill her by any means, my only concern would be bugs on accidentaly phasing inside someone..honestly looking at this analytically it could be the most fair change possible
-
@dont_ask_me_again said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/822711#Comment_822711
The idea for the husk is that it’d basically be spine chill but audio based only when she’s phasing. It’s not like a “directional husk” since you no longer hear the husk as the survivor if she’s not looking at the survivor.
This makes her distance hard to guess but then again... she’d probably definitely need collision removed since she’d kind of have built in prayer beads for spirits at a really high skill cap level... if she knows where the survivor is/intends to go and prayer beads could add collision as an add-on.
Honestly the more I think on it removing collision may be the solution..think about it..not only does she stop running randomly into people but she will need to exit phase early to hit her target granting some reaction time as well as nerfing prayer beads grabs with the same need to exit early, I think they should try this..it may just solve nearly all her grievances

You still have her speed to utilise as the killer aswell as invisibility... it’d just be like vs’ing a survivor with spine-chill... you’d just have to choose your mindgames... which just adds to mindgaming. Maybe it’s too much with collision gone but pretty sure built in spine-chill gives enough information to survivors.
Only difference is pine chill tells you 1 direction..a turning husk? Shed lose so many tiles from it..

See my above response to fixing that.
That would not likely work..and even if it did...it would just make her stressful as you dont feel fluid in your movements..and out in the open that straight up wouldnt work either..its just too much and negates her entire powers purpose

Been there, done that.
The problem is not saying something unfounded, it's the fact that some of you people just reject things as they truly are, and try to find the smallest reason to keep it that way.
Spirit is a gambling machine, chances are you are dead on your spot most of the time.
If shes such a gamble I should head to vegas..because I sure know how to keep her busy from time to time, and when playing her I dont gamble I predict..which thanks to my overall game knowledge of both sides allows me to usually gauge how good someone is and what they'll likely do..obviously nobody is always correct but the thing I always found funny Is if spirit is really a coin flip..shes technically the most fair thing in dbd lol
-
Collision removal would indeed remove the edge hits and force her to phase out before she reaches the survivor..but if her husk showed you her direction it would make her lose all pallet mind games and make escaping way too easy..you cant design killers for 1v1 because its 1v4...a single survivor should have 0 chance alone..because anything less and that creates the current issues with the majority of the cast..however I do concede your trying to he productive
-
@Enlyne said:

Are you serious? There's barely any time at all, let alone she can still hear your footsteps, what you say would just never work.
I play as and against her quite well enough to understand how she works..why not try it and practice it before saying something unfounded..
-
except she still goes blind during the wind up so you have enough time to change positions..and you simply observe what she does and next time..you know their choice of approach now dont you?

I'm pretty confident I can win infinite games in a row with Spirit as long as I get to use Amulet/Wakazashi. I don't think I've lost with that setup in my entire time playing the game. Its ridiculously overpowered.
Doubt it

"Rin_is_my_waifu" I don't think anyone can take anything you say seriously with that name. Also maybe if you explained 1000 times without convincing anyone, maybe your argument was flawed/you were WRONG? just a thought.
The devs have shown clear bias and the only arguments I hear are the coin flip nonsense and constant bickering from those who fall for the standing still mind game all the time

I mean sure, that’s the goal but I honestly think they just constantly rush themselves into things and when making decisions. Its a lot of pressure on them though.
Maybe but they also tend to be very selective in whom they take feedback from..and it hasn't made things better for killers..the loss of red insta heals is meaningless if every killer ends up too weak to benafit
-
Honestly what he needs is to have a base shock range increase , and some addon tuning because as it stands his addons are for the most part cool but dont really have a massive impact , and his reliance on shock range boosters make his power more janky and inconsistant due to the extended charge time
-
Yeah I rarely get removed in game..
-
It is quite Cool but..with fast cameras this could end up going poorLynn balance wise

Nurse in itself can never be fun survivor side because it breaks every game mechanic, there was never any outplay, a practiced nurse just obliterates any team, solo or SWF.

So you're telling me someone with as much potential as Nurse should be able to be played by everyone? It's completely fair. Put more time into learning a character = play a killer who far exceeds the rest. The game should NOT be balanced around Nurse / Spirit's tier.
Lol I never said that and it was never the case for her..all I'm saying is the payoff should equal the effort which is not the case rn

If you think the Devs are just making decisions based in forum posts I don’t know how to continue the conversation.
They've said themselves it happens more than you think it does..several changes in the past were community ideas used by the devs..so it matters..otherwise why else do these forums exist? Anyway..I've said my piece , see you around

How are they using fun as a means if IF IT IS SUBJECTIVE AND CANNOT BE MEASURED. They couldn’t possibly be using fun as a metric to change balance because you can’t quantity fun. What you’ve just said is literally impossible.
No..they arnt measuring anything..they're just using it as justification..that's what your missing

Compared to the rest of the cast, Nurse was completely out of the park in terms of effectivity. A nerf is not a bad balance change. She's still an amazing killer, and still #1. Now she's just a bit more punishing to play.
Too punishing..nobody wants to play her because shes all risk for less reward now..its not exactly fair
-
@hiC said:

...by making them more balanced. Fun is a result of creating balanced gameplay.
Pre-change nurse was UNANIMOUSLY considered the to be a killer in her own tier. She was not the baseline for balanced gameplay; she was far and away an exception in the killer pool.
Lol no they are using fun as a means to make changes that affect balance..theres quite a difference in that..and nurses addons were definitely in need of adjustment but the cooldown only served to make her more difficult yet perform worse..that's the worst kind of balance change..and one that only benefitted one side
-
This..is frankly the silliest thing I've read all day

Show me where the devs have said they’re balancing the game around fun. I’ll wait.
Their last broadcast..they said when they look at a character their priority is to and I quote "make them more fun to play and play against " but as you can see for the nurse..that's only half true..

They want to keep the average kill rate at about 2, that would keep it pretty balanced. I am not saying that it is perfect by any means, but it is way closer than what the survivor mains or killer mains say.
Except it isnt...because that's not based around both sides playing equally and the gameplay proves its bs

I'm just saying I have all the perks in the game on my main and sinse survivors don't have any special abilitys I don't see the problem in making it so every survivor share perks
Because killers would be the only ones forced to farm for hours..on top of being point trainers due to high addon dependency which survivors dont suffer from..case and point..it wouldnt be fair
