I'm writing this post with a heavy heart due to the wave of dc's that have been plaguing our beloved game. From what I've gathered from in-game experience and reading this message board, the culprit seems to be a portion of the console base that are convinced that it is unfair that they are required to play against "superior" pc players. I'm here to tell you that you severely misunderstand the situation and your "protest disconnects" are only ruining the health of the game.
How can I say this you may ask? It's because I've been playing DBD on pc for 15 months now and . . . I've only ever used a CONTROLLER!!! Yes, I know this is sacrilege but frankly I don't care. I switched to pc gaming from consoles several years back because controller support had become so widely adopted. I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's the best of both worlds really. You get the granular control over fps and such but you can sit back and relax with a controller in hand. I sit in a computer chair all day for work. I don't want to have to when playing games at home and that's why we live in a world with options.
Because of this I can tell you that, aside from framerates, pc players do not have an overall advantage over console players. I've only ever used a controller and I've managed to be able to learn how to loop killers well and escape as survivor. I've also managed to hold my own as a controller killer and secured many 4k's over pc survivors. I think too many console players have heard the phrase "pc master race" too many times and have taken it to heart when it was really a phrase born of a time when pc's and consoles were completely different beasts with very few overlapping titles.
I know this is a long post but my point is this recent wave of disconnects is not proving any point and only damaging the health of the game. You're just going to have to learn to adapt to some new playstyles. It's no different than having to learn to adapt when a new killer comes out or a killer is reworked which is something we all have to deal with every few months or so.
TL;DR: The playing field is more fair than you think, you just have adjust to different play styles. I can say this with confidence because I've only played on pc and never used m/k, only a controller. Please stop dc'ing. You're ruining the game experience for everyone.
The problem isn't the controller. Its the fps. I 100% would play pc with controller if I had a pc.

Yea fun for you its so fun for killer when they have to hold forward when you can see them and wait till you drop a pallet but then you complain when you can't do that vs those killers
First of all, I'm a killer main. Second, I want to change my playstyle for different killers, but not have the killer be uncounterable like deathslinger or or spirit. I like going against nurse, and she completely changes my playstyle.i like huntress, and she changes it too. I like demo, I like hag, I like doctor, I like oni, I like myers. I want to change playstyle, but I don't want to die the second I get seen.

It might just be for me but he does feel like he has counterplay. I play as deathslinger and when I played a Survivor match a with a friend of mine I already had a fixed mindset on what he was pretty much going to do. I saw a pallet in front of me and I look back at deathslinger and I keep running to the pallet since I know that slinger's will have a knack for quick-shotting at pallets but that's where I quickly move to the opposite way and he misses his quickshot. Even though it might not sound like skill, it just felt really good when I was able to predict what he was about to do based on what I did when I play as deathslinger
thats just a guess. It only had a 50% chance of working. Also although you can predict where he'll shoot, if you don't get hit he missed. Nothing to do with your own skill.

Oh I can't even play him anymore lol. I haven't played him for at least 6 months, and I p1d him along with most other killers so I don't have any perks either. However, as demo or pig I can beat most people, even object swfs. Anyways, I do things by myself. Its on me if I can't end a chase in thirty seconds on most maps. That's just how I am. I don't rely on mistakes like bad killers. I will punish for a mistake, but I can catch a survivor in a very short amount of time very easily without one being made. Not all people have so little skill that they have to depend on other people to do their job for them.

They have counterplay, you just don't like it since it doesn't favor you. I never said it was easy to counter them but claiming that your skill as survivors doesn't matter vs them is such a lie. Both require you to be unpredictable which is very hard since they have the upper hand in making their prediction on you, that still doesn't mean you can't do anything about them in chase.
It's guessing. There is nothing you can do that relys on your skill as a player.

Everytime a killer does something in order to get an advantage it is a mindgame, be it hiding the red light or standing still as spirit.
Why do you declare hiding the red light is fine and spirit standing still isn't because at both scenarios you will have to guess and predict what is going to happen. So are guesses not fair at all or do you just want the game to be loops like haddonfield 50m white small fence?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1599733#Comment_1599733
Keep it up, when most people not agree with you it is not because they have another opinion based on experience and reaching a conclusion themselves it is due to all of them being biased killer mains. š„
By guessing I'm talking about actually phasing. Youd have to be rank 21 to fall for the standing still mindgame.

This still doesn't work as the swf issue isn't about comms only but player skill, working as a unit and the fact that they are invested in trying to get everyone out as they are friends.
Solo is a completely different game since they don't have the same attachment to the others and shouldn't. Its a choice as the game is help others or don't.
Showing auras would just make the game more mundane as it would remove having to think at all. Comms would end up as a troll fest with players calling out others. Its bad enough already with a chat system.
Then you buff killer to make up for it. What happens to those that are really good at that role? They end up becoming bored as the challenge is gone.
Maybe the issue isn't what most think it is about buffing this or nerfing that but making sure you are matched better to reflect your own skill. Everyone being to get to rank 1 so easily imo has given an entitled mindset to players so they think that they can and should be able to compete at the highest level of play. The mmr system then is what hopefully will fix this but how or if they can determine skill is yet to be seen.
These are actually valid points. I'm honestly surprised, because most people blindly state their opinion. I am a killer main, and I know how frustrating it is to face a swf, but as someone who only plays survivor in a swf now, i don't want swf to change. Maybe if you get a 5x BP bonus facing them and get notified it was a swf. I'd love that change, as swfing will now help the killer with the grind as well.

You mean like a survivor messing up at a safe pallet? Killers rely on survivors making mistakes (at least most of them), but if the turn tables it's a desaster for some reason.
Im a nurse main. I don't rely on survivors mistakes. Even when I play other killers, I rely on my own skill. I win 9/10 matches.

There very much is, so you think that the survivor cant influence at all if a deathslinger will get the hit or not? Breaking line of sight, getting distance, being unpredictable all make it much harder for him to get the hit, you dont need to react if you can make it so he cant get a clean shot, and even then it's the same speed as a fully charged hatchet with a much smaller hitbox, so depending on the range it is reactable , if you dont think that's counterplay than what is.
On the spirit point it is a guess, but an educated guess , alike almost everything in this and any other human v human game, hell even chess could be considered a series of educated guesses. And I highly doubt anyone would say that chess is just guesses, so therefore you cant counter your opponent. I could go into more detail but theres a plethora of discussions about this on these forums, take your pick.
Spirit on the killers side is an educated guess. On the survivor side, you know nothing about what she's doing. You are helpless, and if you don't die THEY messed up. Quickscope is a fraction of a second on deathslinger, meaning it isn't reactable unless you are at max distance. Breaking Los isn't counterplay either, because the second he sees you youre dead.

No killer right now needs any serious rework. Some small nerfs to a few of top tier killers are warranted but demaning full rework to killers like spirit or slinger with main argument that they don't have counterplay which is false is unjustified.
They have no counterplay. Spirit is a heavily killer sided guess, and slingers shot is not humanly possible to react to. Spirit needs a rework, slinger is fine, as he has low pressure.

Its called adaptation some killers are supposed to domonate chases nurse sprit billy. But they have nothing to help them find surivors now there are perks to locate surivors but majorty require surivors to do something. Its like hide or die that game. The hunters are extremely fast or disable the surivors. But if you waist a ton of time by hiding and the killer dosent find you you whin that situation even if you go down. If you waisted 40s of hideing and another 20s with chase 2 or 3 gens are almost done.
Edit typo
I didn't say you can't beat them with sheath, I said they don't have counterplay.
-
@twistedmonkey said:
Its an issue that can't be fixed imo. You buff solo you inherently buff swf. You buff killers too much and you kill off solo play.
We do have to be careful to say the game shouldn't be balanced around the lower players though as the same argument is used by some killers here.
When anyone posts about a really good killer players win rate they always say you can't expect them to be as good as people who play the game for a living or have 5 or 7 k hours in the game. You have to be careful to not remove the challenge from the best players on both sides.
Imo the problem comes down primarily to thise who main one side as they don't see the issues of the other and of course seeing the game as being highly competitive.
Aura perks or comms base kit then buff killers

@Kebek said:
Survivors mostly argue that as killer you can counter pretty much everything survivors do and it's true. You truly can counter everything survivors do as killer, be it goldy looping when you play M1 killer, great SWF coordination poping all gens in 5 min or any extremely strong perk combo etc.
Although what they often forget to add is that it costs TIME, a lot of it actually. And once you're out of it, you lose.
It really annoys me that then later they complain about killers like nurse, deathslinger, PH or spirit who can put up with some or all of this and demand more "fair" counterplay to make their matches vs them less boring. Pity they almost never consider killer's fun when demaning these changes to make their gameplay more fun but that's nothing new. Some of these suggested changes are fair to an extent but so many of them are just complete overkills.
I wish everyone just stopped with this constant spam of "no counterplay/unfair/boring" on both sides and just played the game without qutting the first time something doesn't go their way. If anything needs changes provide some reasonable feedback and if it's a legitimate issue devs will eventually change it. Both sides have annoying hard to counter tools they can use and all of them could use some changes but demaning changes to one side whie dismissing the issues of the other is so hypocritical.
All of your examples are balanced but spirit, as she has mobility and the second best chase power in the game. However, i do agree with you that survivors have broken things too. But the thing is, those killers do need rework/nerfs, and so do the broken things on the survivor side. The devs don't seem to get that you shouldn't be adding broken ######### to counter other broken #########. You just fix the broken #########.
-
@OllieHellhunter said:
The thing is there is counterplay to those killers, and there is counterplay/downsides to the perks on survivor side, however as seen in the clip you accompany the counterplay can be removed by combinations.
There is no counterplay to deathslinger as his shot is impossible to react to, and spirit is a guess, so no counterplay there. If you can run one for a while it isn't your skill. It means they messed up. Those two are the only ones with no counterplay.

Yes, there are some strong SWFs, but the number of those is very, very low. And the existence of them is used as an excuse for losing, basically all the time.
And SWF will not go anywhere, so there is no point in discussing.
Ive only lost to strong swfs. You can tell they are swf by them all having ds-ub and one has object. I haven't lost to a solo team in a really long time, unless I'm ghostface. I just can't play ghostface. I like going against that though, as it is an actual challenge, and if I beat one it's actually an accomplishment, and if i lose, I know the odds were heavily against me.
-
Some killers have no counterplay. Spirit is guessing, so thats not counter play as your skill doesn't matter in that situation, and deathslingers spear is unreactable. If you don't get hit he missed. However, deathslinger is balanced, because he has low pressure. Spirit isnt as she has a mobility tool that doubles as the second best chase power in the game.(The best is SLB)

How do I make the game fun for you? Seriously. I love playing killer, and I've been diving into survivor just to learn how to play against good survivors, but I really want to know, what makes the game fun and challenging for you?
Obviously, no tunneling or slugging (but if I suspect you have DS, I aint going for you).
Just dont use obviously broken stuff. No moris, no stridor spirit, no iri infantry huntress, things like that. But this goes both ways, so you can also say no ds unbreakable, no blendette, no keys, things like that. I just want to play a fair game and those types of things make it incredibly one sided. Haddonfield is my least favorite map on both sides, for that reason. I don't like having an unfair advantage or disadvantage.

From someone who uses the vault speed build quite often i feel it is rather quite effective.
While it might save you on the occasional window vault i dont really use it for that reason.
I use it because i generally dont spend time healing as its more beneficial to knock out gens then just heal when i come across a team mate.
So now i have a 9/15% boost at everything i do untill i get healed.
Its like having a brown toolbox/medkit speed the whole game along with unhooking and sabo speed and spine chill gives me the heads up on when your coming so i can get the distance needed to make it to the next window or pallet and then maybe when were in the loop it might save me from a hit on a fast vault.
Smart survivors who dont waste time healing and are focused on doing gens that 9/15% adds up if you stay injured the majority of the game.
Most arent smart. Everyone heals, even against LEGION.

I don't like that it is tied to a new survivor instead of a general perk like Deja Vu (Both which should never be used once you learn how to identify layouts). If we're ignoring slight crutch perks like these or "This is not happening" that could technically help newer players...
If we also ignore the BP Perk We're gonna live forever which does nothing else...
If we're ignoring perks that work better when stacked through multiple survivors and can be paired with items, addon and offerings like Open Handed or Up the Ante+Slippery Meat...
Sole Survivor and technically Left Behind because you're basically assuming you're losing the game before even going into it (I don't consider hatching out as wins).
No one left behind ranks up there - far behind Hope and even further behind Adrenaline as an end game condition perk.

The killer opening the gate is a surrender button, not a strategy. In almost all cases, it means anyone currently downed or hooked is now picked up or unhooked, and they're going to the other gate which was also 99ed, while you're at this open one like a chump who cannot physically get to them without them escaping. The only very rare edge case is that you can down someone near a gate, open it, then hook them. In which case survivors can wait out BW and being so close to the gate, you cannot do anything about BT guaranteeing an escape.
It gives you extra time to do things. Also egc is to prevent hostage situations, not to give free pressure.

Lol its all good i just wnted to know why survivors dont get locked into their choice in the lobby like killer, if its for individual mmr why is it only killers.
also devs just put the mmr back we all know there isnt any mysterious problem with it you are just wanting to see how crossplay does without it, tbh going against a full red rank pc swf on ps4 is bs. Also why did pc get crossplay with console should have just kept it steam/windows like ios and android for mobile. And i know turn it off ppl will say and yeah sure if i dont ever want to get a match as killer right on it, btw crossplay doesn't help survivor solo ques on ps4 still 10 minutes, that was the reason originally for crossplay right?
It's only for killers bc every survivor plays the same. But with mmr disabled, there's no need for it now.
