Sorry, but if I don't see a big bright light beam shining on my screen when I get blinded, I didn't see a big bright light beam shining on my screen when I get blinded and it shouldn't have blinded me.
Also, it's not hard to time a blind. Like, at all. It takes basic timing.
"if anything flashlights need a solid buff."
Dear God no. The only thing that should happen to flashlights is their deletion. If I wanted other players to freely have the ability to take away my ability to see I'd go play Counter Strike.
If you thinks flashlights need to be deleted, youre bad. They only exist to punish killers for poor positioning.

And that's honestly sad. You have a black belt in Korean martial arts (assuming that belt is either real or yours, which I doubt), and you find it difficult to shine a flashlight in the general vicinity of a Killer as they're pulling someone out of a locker. I'm a fat bastard who never gets good sleep at night and even I can pull flashlight lockers off easily.
Yeah. A fat bastard who probably plays 24/7, unlike me.

How are you going to tout that and then sit here and tell me you struggle to pull off flashlight saves? You get that piece of cloth from a children's dojo or something, my guy?
Christ, Internet tough guy out here thinking his little pictures mean he's good at a video game. Next you'll be telling me you have over 300 confirmed kills.
I don't find flashlights hard. I find locker saves hard. Well, against non original killers bc the animation is different.

Just gonna say it.
Mad because bad. You have poor muscle memory and reaction time and that makes you think flashlight saves are hard to time.
I'd hate to see you be put in scenarios that require actually good, fast reflexes and hard muscle memory.
Oh really? I have bad muscle memory? I have bad reaction times? Then how did I become a first degree dan in tang soo do? I don't think that flashlights are hard. I think that locker saves are hard. Because they are.

You have a huge window to blind, actually. It's very easy to time and things like latency and the flashlight effect being larger than the Killer's FoV only make that window larger.
Half a second is a long time? You can't blind anytime in the animation anymore, you know.

It's a bad perk, to say the least, so I've come up with a list of changes to make the perk better
All survivors, subtracting some range.
All survivors working on generators
All survivors in a chase
Hold up pallets, too.
The killer
Bigger change
Once a generator is completed, gain a token. Everytime a survivor in a chase vaults a window, it will block off for 120 seconds and consumes a token
I didn't put DS, Spirit, Dead Hard, or NOED in the title so this won't get any views, but for anyone who cares to make smaller perks better, thanks for reading.
You are right. No upvotes or comments. Its sad that people don't think about any thing but the meta. I like this idea.

Right, it's so hard to hold M2 in the direction of the Killer and have a huge window of timing to do it that requires no reflexes or discipline and I won't even have to aim it correctly since it doesn't even need to be touching the Killer's eyes to work. So hard.
You do realize that you have a very small window to blind right? You probably have never even used a flashlight. Half a second off and its not possible.

But in that case, you're actively hindering the person playing Freddy by nerfing his base kit to be more realistic. If realism is a hindrance to gameplay balance, it should be discarded as a priority. In the flashlight and Huntress scenario, it is both unrealistic and unbalanced. Here it is unrealistic but balanced.
Not really. Freddys power is unbalanced so maybe a short lunge would be the nerf he needs.

First of all, Freddy's lunge is normal. It's just that his weapon is so small that it looks bigger than it should because the normal hitbox is bigger than his smaller-than-normal weapon.
Second of all, yes, Huntress's hatchets should be fixed so their hitboxes make sense. Just like how flashlights should be fixed so that you actually have to get the light into the Killer's eyes to blind them.
But by your logic, it should have to touch you to hit, therefore, freddy should have a shorter lunge.

"The point isn't about outsmarting or guessing, it's whether you "deserve" that grab."
If I outsmarted you or won the gamble, yes, I deserve that grab.
"You're argument is that a Survivor deserves no chance thereafter but in some cases it makes sense to outsmart The Killer and jump into the Locker."
Lockers are deliberately designed as a shell to hide yourself, but if the Killer breaks the shell, you get punished. You get grabbed out of a locker, the Killer broke the shell.
"I think if an ally can free you via a FL save, you and that Survivor deserve the victory by outsmarting The Killer, predicting he would go for the grab and correctly positioning yourself."
This implies pulling off a flashlight save takes skill, positioning, or game sense. It doesn't. You're not outplaying the Killer by holding M2 when they're forced into an animation lock to punish someone else who played like an idiot. Hell, your positioning doesn't even matter since you can blind them from well beyond their FoV, shining the light nowhere near their camera and still getting a blind. You don't even need to "predict". The animation lock is so long that you can just react without thought, even if you were in the middle of deliberately running away.
Locker saves are one of the hardest thing you can do in this game. Check for the save, and even if you don't, there's around a 90% chance they will mess it up.

The difference here is that everything you mentioned makes no sense from a realistic perspective. Being blinded from angles outside of your field of view makes no sense in both a realistic perspective and a gameplay one. It is unfair and an active detriment to gameplay. It's like getting headshot by a bullet that missed your hitbox or a timer that ended prematurely even though there was still time left on the clock. It should not happen and it isn't fair.
Like Freddy's lunge? Like huntress hatchets? Should they remove those?

- That just lets me get blinded from a wider angle, including even more areas outside of my new wider FoV.
- Just admit that it makes no logical sense that you can get blinded by a light you cannot see.
Don't talk about sense in this game. The entire game does not make logical sense. Why can nurse teleport? How can demogorgon see clearly? How are there licensed characters that other survivors might recognize from a movie? Why can flashlight saves exist? Why does the entity let survivors have advantages? This game doesnt make sense at all.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1604330#Comment_1604330
- If you take the time to check the area, the Survivor leaves the locker and runs off, most likely to a safe pallet or window since 99% of lockers are located right next to those. It's a lose-lose, like the small pp build.
- The Survivor obviously didn't think before they acted, otherwise they wouldn't have made the dumb decision to jump in that locker. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1604329#Comment_1604329
Difference between the Survivor getting caught and the Killer "just pressing the space bar" is, the Killer had to either see you get in the locker, hear you inside it, predict you went in there, or just guess. The only situation in which the I as the Killer didn't outright outsmart or intuitively discover you is the latter, and in that case, you took a gamble and lost. And that's just it—you LOST. In all of these scenarios, you LOST the battle. You LOST the bet. You LOST the guessing game. And you should be punished for losing.
With regards to latency: As much as these servers suck, that honestly just sounds like you have poor Internet. That's on you.
Run shadowborn if you want to see yourself getting blinded.

@CaptainRaider said:
As it stands, overcharge is an interesting perk that could be great for gen defense builds, but it is not worth a perk slot in its current state.
I believe that a token system would increase its potency; whenever you kick a gen, gain a token (up to 8). A token is spent each time a survivor fails the Overdrive skill check thereby maintaining the gen’s regressing state. The skill check must be completed successfully or the perk runs out of tokens to resume repair. The additional regression penalty of 3%|4%|5% stacks on the gen for each token spent from a failed skill check. So failing for a third time on the same gen would be a 25% progress regression. If all tokens are spent the gen loses it’s overdrive state and the stacking regression is reset. The overdrive regression does not stack with huntress lullaby.
This isn't really fair to good survivors bc their teammates could be bad, but they get punished for it.

Maybe they went in for IS or HO, you never know. Not to mention that argument can be flipped, does a Killer "deserve" a free hook or kill just because they randomly pressed a button on a Locker? Or the game latency resulted in a different position depicted on the Survivor's screen and thus they were unable to use Head-on? I've experienced that, and even The Killer appearing too far to even open and yet they do. They teleport into the front and open it.
This.

Nope. If you dont see them its bc your camera is locked on the locker and they're a bit further out than your camera. You cant blind through a locker, and even if you could it wouldnt matter bc it would be too early anyways.

Locker ds isn't fair, but flashlights can be used with head on to take away the downsides to head on. I think that they're fair, as killers can do the same thing with their powers.

a lot of people want new game modes so what if we had a killer that changes how the games chases work drastically, here is my concept:
name: ***** yamako (rin's father)
movement speed: 4.8 ms (120%)
Weapon: katana
main power: "shattered honor" chasing survivors and breaking pallets fills the power gauge, when full you enter a deadly bloodlust for 30 seconds allowing you to break pallets 50% faster, you may also vault windows and pallets slightly slower then a survivor during this time, healthy survivors hit by your weapon attacks while shattered honor is active are afflicted with the deep wound effect or downed if injured.
seems op right? well here is the game changing part:
secondary power: the bodies of four dead samurai spawn in the trial, survivors may interact with these bodies to obtain an item called the vengeful katana allowing them the fight back if they dare to try, pressing the active ability button will allow you to block any survivors who attempts to strike you, after being blocked you can instantly down them in a parry by pressing the attack button, you can also preform a guard breaker (shove) this will break survivors guard if they use the vengeful katana to block, after being stuck by a survivor you will be stunned for 4-5 seconds and afterwards gain a 6 seconds immunity to attacks.
The vengeful katana: the blade of a dead samurai that seeks vengeance on its hosts murderer, a survivor wielding the katana can enter a combat stance while in this stance you automatically face ***** yamako if he is within 15 meters of you creating a stressful and intense duel, you have three different moves you can preform when in combat stance: you can press the attack button to strike forward, you can block, leaving ***** yamaoka open to a counter attack if he hits you, and you can press the secondary action button to dodge backwards slightly further then lunge range (causes and is effected by the exhaustion status effect) this also allows you to counter attack if ***** yamaoka misses, it has no effect if ***** yamaoka is carrying a survivor. when taken out of the trial the katana becomes a dull katana
dull katana: a once powerful weapon that has lost its power through use and time, you may enter the combat stance and preform the three different moves, has two charges that are lost after a successful hit or block, stuns the killer for 1.5 seconds on a successful hit or 0.5 seconds on a successful block and fills the carried survivors wiggle bar by 10% if the killer is carrying a survivor.
what do you think?
I'm confused about the vaulting thing. Do you mean slightly slower than a fast vault, medium vault, or slow vault.

In an average game of survivor you are most likely going to have a killer that will stay near or close by to a hook and will come for those two survivors, if the killer spots the injured survivor he will go for the injured survivor, without ds this can be frustrating especially if you are solo queue and you get unhooked right in front of the killer.
But lets say in other circumstances the killer is nice and goes for the rescuer instead, then the survivor will go get healed or work on gens in the mean time. Most of the time ds will run out in this time, but if the killer finds you again in this time you can still ds them.
I dont think ds needs any nerfs or buffs, the only understandable one would be to end ds when you work on a gen.
As a killer you can play around this, ds is meta and should be predictable.
---In conclusion I do think ds is stupid and its just another breeding perk for toxicity and unfun playstyles but it is needed in the environment of dbd in its current state sadly.----
I think that my version of ds would be the best version. 30 second timer, goes down twice as fast on any objective, pauses while slugged or in chase, and goes away in a locker or when you start to heal yourself or get healed.

I would genuinely like to know considering many of the factors point towards the game being survivor sided.
1. Perks:
Many good survivor perks can be obtained for free. Adrenaline, Iron Will, and Bond are all free teachables.
Killers on the other hand have the good perks locked behind dlc. Barbecue & Chili, Surveillance, and in the case of PC, Ruin and Monitor.
Survivor is already easy enough that you don't need perks, but then you give them the absolute best perks for free. Killers such as Wraith and Legion will get dominated without perks, but the best perks to run on them are locked behind dlc.
2. Items and offerings:
Survivor: Keys; Styptics (which got buffed); Syringes (which are worse, but still incredibly powerful); BNP; Commodious toolbox; Emergency Med-Kit.
Killer: Ebony and Ivory Mori; Iridescent Brick; Iri Head. That's all.
3. Maps and tile spawns:
Ormond. Coldwind. Autohaven. These three realms tend to be extremely survivor sided. Ormond especially just has pallet after pallet after pallet. The only deadzone that can even exist here is one of the corners with a gen near the small building with stairs.
Now, the killer sided maps are Hawkins, Lery's, and The Game, but even these are only good for stealth killers, Trapper, and Hag. A killer like Nurse is going to have an extremely difficult time on these maps.
Tile spawns would be Cow Tree into Jungle Gym into shack (Coldwind). Safe pallet into safe pallet into main building with two safe pallets into Looping Gym into Safe Pallet into shack (Ormond).
4. Glitches:
You can call me scummy for including glitches, but with how many sound bugs that exist in the game and several safe spots that can be reached, killer is at an unintentional disadvantage. No moaning, no breathing, no footsteps, and no dying noises are some of them. Iron Will, one of the best perks in the game, is bugged to not make you breath at all.
Falling onto the exit gate switch on Midwich so the killer can't get you unless he/she is playing Deathslinger.
There are just far too many issues with the game. They haven't even been fixed even though they've been in the game for months.
I would like to say that I find it quite dumb that the devs can fix pointing and crouching (which should a permanent feature) in a week, but they can't fix the detrimental sound bugs after several months.
Whether it be from perks, consumables, unfair maps, or glitches, this game is far from killer sided.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I will probably make a follow up to this on the history of things being nerfed.
Its killer sided when i play nurse, i can tell you that;)

Games are too easy for survivors at high ranks, once you reach a certain level it's just child's play to run any killer at any skill level in the game. Hexy's tournament even showed this. It's just not a fun game at high levels, and survivors that reach higher levels of play need something to keep them occupied, so they figure out ways to abuse the killer, since wins are too easy. Nothing is done to help keep this in check.
People like to say there are toxic players on both sides, but really there isn't. If you see a toxic killer, chances are they are that way because of survivors. There's just nothing a killer can do against survivors, and survivors are allowed free reign to rub their superiority in the face of killers. The two things killers can do against survivors is camp and tunnel, but those two things are severely limited due to perks like BT and DS. Meanwhile survivors can bodyblock, they can teabag, they can relentlessly blind the killer, they can hold the game hostage, and they can do this all while effortlessly doing the gens and opening the gates because the game gives them the time to do so, there is no sense of beating the clock.
I can go hours and hours playing survivor games with no toxic killers. It only takes two or three games as killer to find a toxic survivor lobby, that then sours my mood and makes me play more ruthlessly as killer. There's just nothing the killer can do to survivors that's really toxic without sacrificing the game as a result. I think that's the major problem. Survivors can be super toxic and do this to one of the strongest killer players in the game while also doing their objectives. Most of the time if you choose to tunnel or camp survivors as killer, you're likely not going to 4k.
Killers can slug to death, look up to avoid being blinded, trap you in a corner, tunnel you to death, use broken things that make the game not fair. Dont act like killers are completely helpless. I'm a killer main btw.

Thats the reason why I run resilience. It doesnt seem like it, but tanking an extra hit can stall gen progress as most loops are near gens. I run vault build and stay injured the whole game, and do everything 9, sometimes 15, percent faster. I run Sprint burst too, so if I'm taken by surprise I can still get away.

Maybe this is just an Australian/Oceania thing, but here’s what I notice A LOT of in solo play.
- 3 gen’ing. I’ll do my very best to stop this from happening, getting regularly chased off of the gens closest to the centre that I know should prevent a 3 gen, but everyone else is too damn impatient, and before I know it the match is thrown because of a tight cluster of gens tucked in one corner that all the killer needs to do is stand in the centre of. Good luck if anybody is hooked there too.
- Refusing to heal/refusing to be healed. No, you’re not a god at this game by staying injured. All too often I came across an injured survivor, the killer is clearly occupied elsewhere, but they refuse a heal. And guess what? Most of these “heroes” go down in 5 seconds the next time they’re spotted. It’s very frustrating when an opportunity to heal/be healed SAFELY is presented, yet so many survivors behave stupidly, and freely give the killer shorter chases.
- Bum rushing the hook without BT. Why? Just why?
- Deluding themselves that Bubba has left the basement.
Actually if you arent out of position, and you are good, you should stay injured. Your teammates and you can do the objective faster.

Its ok. I am sure that you are very skillful since you knew where he would shoot. All I'm saying was, even though you predicted well, it was completely his fault that he missed.

Sorry, my English is broken. Also, not a 'console player bad' thread.
Since crossplay went live I've had four games in which a survivor directly helped the killer (pointing where another survivor was hiding, running around the map with the killer searching for the other players, etc.). I don't play often, so four games actually are a lot for me.
Three of the four times I was a survivor (only once was affected directly by it because I am terrible at the game and went down early on) and the fourth time I was playing killer and they tried to lead me to the other survivors (which made me kill them instead and let the last two remaining survivors go; maybe it is the nursery school teacher in me but I hate it when people snitch on someone else).
Everytime the 'offending' player was a console player (obviously don't know which) and I have never encountered it before crossplay. Obviously I know that not every console player is doing something like this and I in general enjoy the crossplay feature but I just got curious if this is some kind of 'thing' that is commonly happening on consoles or if I just had incredibly bad luck (wouldn't be the first time).
(Also, what do you guys do if someone is doing that kind of stuff?)
It's probably ps4 players. I'm on ps4 and I can't even count the times this has happened to me as killer. Its never happened as survivor as I usually flashlight save at least 3 times in a match, so they dont want to kill me 😆 What I do is slug them to death while I farm with the other survivors.
