Hello i am a new player for the resident evil chapter and i don't know how it all works yet i play on xbox and was wondering when the ptb will go live ... Cheers
The PTB is only available on PC and it was already released.
-
Nah bruh change the title.
-
The only reason I think it could be Candyman is because of the new movie coming out. If it wasn't for that I really think he wouldn't be in the game and I still doubt he'd be in it. He just isn't nearly as well known as almost every other licensed character, it would be a weird shift.

Or y'know, maybe realize that he's the same as he's ever been? In fact I'd argue that his current base-kit is weaker than his older self with Windstorm. Plus his lunge is the same as it's ever been, the speed boost from uncloaking is just barely longer. Y'all only complain about his base-kit because he wasn't as common as he is today.
Agreed. I really don't understand the Wraith hate. Like he barely has been changed at all he's still Wraith and he's still a lame M1 killer.
-
Wraith should not be nerfed lol at least I really hope he doesn't. He's one of the easiest killers to go against but he can be a tad frustrating every once in a while.
-
In my experience it's generally the opposite. Her vomit clearly does not hit me and I literally see it hit the ground behind me but I become infected. It gets even more aggravating with her corrupt purge.

So you're telling me if you destroy all 5 totems, the killer will still have NOED?
Gotcha. That must be a new bug.
So you're telling me that if you counter Dead Hard the survivors can still use Dead Hard?
Gotcha. That must be a new bug.

I just got it so yes.

I mean, at their core they aren't "stupid arguments".
The issue with "just run blood echo" is, it's very situational. "Just do bones" just works 100% of the time.
No "just do bones" does not work 100% of the time in fact it works almost never. I constantly get into games where it's so close that there's no way 3 other random guys can do 5 totems with no communication and no totem counter. It would waste so much time to the point where close games would end up in a killer win because you spent the entirety of the game just doing totems which you have no idea if the killer even has NOED or not. It's all based on this chance that they have NOED and even then it's extremely unreasonable to have to do every single totem with randoms.

How come "just do bones" isn't a solution against NOED, and wasn't a solution against old Undying...but somehow "run blood echo" is a solution against exhaustion?
I say "run Blood Echo" because every killer says either "do bones" or "run small game". It's the exact same stupid argument but if you can't beat em then join em.

Doesnt the Skeleton Key have that duration though?
The Skeleton Key has 30 seconds on it which can be increased to 45 seconds with a Blood Amber. The Blood Amber increases depletion rate by 50%. So if my math is correct (it's probably not) you still have around 33 seconds of a Blood Amber + the ability to to open the hatch with a Skeleton Key.
-
There are already counters to exhaustion in this game but you just don't want to use them. If you are really getting frustrated by exhaustion perks then Blood Echo and Mindbreaker are your friend. Oh but of course you shouldn't have to change up your play style to meet others, that's too much work.

Doesnt that addon decreases the durability a lot faster or something?
Yeah but it's still a long enough time for it to be a problem, idk the exact time off of the top of my head.
-
cough cough September 2020...
-
That would actually be a really awesome change however I still think that 30 (up to 45) seconds of constant aura reading on the killer is still busted.
-
No you'll be fine... There are websites out there that specifically sell Steam keys for a lot cheaper than they can be found on Steam including delisted ones.
It's pretty common knowledge that a lot of them are stolen keys but it's impossible for you to get banned for buying a key off of someone because it's basically untraceable.
EDIT: Never buy keys you think are stolen, I'm not advocating for that lol. I'm just saying that you can buy a key from a website and there's a chance it could be illegal but you would have no idea.

totems.
now you: what do i, as the Killer, have to deal with someone using Dead Hard to extend their loops?
And i am not referring to someone using DH do dodge a hit in a dead zone or anything like that, i mean someone looping me until they get greedy / fall for one of my mindgames and then pressing E to quickly get back to safety immediately.
The majority of the killer cast has some way to counter DH. Deathslinger can shoot you faster than you can react. Pyramid Head's shockwave is way longer than a DH. Demogorgon's shred is wayyyyy longer than a DH. Doctor can shut down any pallet/window you DH to. If there are multiple Hag traps around DH will do nothing. I can go on and on about how DH can easily be made useless.
And then there are the perks/specific add-ons that completely counter it. Huntress's add-on, Blood Echo, and Mindbreaker.
I listed all of these ways you can counter Dead Hard (and there's a lot more I didn't list) but it just seems like you don't want to do any of those and just ignore them. You want to get every free hit on someone with DH without actually doing any work.
-
Yeah Billy is really strong it's just that nobody plays him anymore which is sad.
-
Knowing most survivors in dbd you will get hate for playing Spirit at any level. That doesn't mean you shouldn't play as her tho, the devs put her in the game for a reason and she's objectively very good, why would you not want to play as her?

Sort of, but NOED is also pretty crap. It's the worst of both worlds, it's ridiculously unfair and nearly worthless. Dead Hard, though, is one of the strongest perks in the game.
I still wish they'd buff the absolute crap out of Coup De Grace so that everyone can know the pain.
Tbf NOED and DH are both literally the third most used perks on both sides so they roughly have the same use rate.

Can be disabled and not even activate
There are many many ways to deal with Dead Hard so that it doesn't even happen in the first place or could be made useless.

My point is that I think Castlevania villains are a bit too strong for this game power-wise.
Yeah and I was saying that everything Dracula does is well within reason. Freddy can teleport to any generator he wants and Spirit can phase. Dracula was taken down by a normal guy with a whip anyway, he doesn't seem too overpowered when Nemesis exists.

Yes, someone pointed that out for me. Still, the killer has to chase, down, carry and hook the survivor in order for it to work and also has to have the other survivors injured.
What do survivors have to do to earn Dead Hard?
I mean with that argument what do you have to do to earn Sprint Burst, Prove Thyself, Iron Will, NOED, Mindbreaker, Blood Warden, etc? Just because a perk doesn't have some complicated prerequisite doesn't make it overpowered.

From what I am reading, he also teleports and can also transform into a giant bat-like monster when defeated.
Nurse can teleport and hell yeah a bat ability would be cool af.

Could they deal with Castlevania villains with the tools they have in DBD, though?
Nemesis could walk through brick walls like it was nothing and pull out a rocket launcher. What did Dracula do in the first game? Shoot some fireballs?

I just did a quick search and the only killers that have these add-ons are Huntress and Pig. I’m pretty sure the Devs are working to remove a killers ability to affect exhaustion.
The only perks listed that affect exhaustion are survivor perks.
Blood Echo and Mindbreaker would like a word with you...

NOED is just the killers version of the hatch, only the need to use a perk for it.. you get your pity win chance every game for free.
I think the hatch should be removed, it's a dumb mechanic.

Just because there are some killers that can counter it doesn't mean it's not broken.
Deathslinger is easy to DH, I do it quite often.
With PH you dead hard to the side, not straight.
Hag I agree, but most hags good hags don't trap next to each other. They spread out traps to create deadzones where if you enter that you only trigger one at a time and therefore they're optimally used.
You just said that you're using top players as your reference but then you use something anecdotal like "I can Dead Hard Deathslinger all the time". Just because you can DH bad Deathslingers doesn't make his shot not come out in like literally half a second.
Also a good Pyramid Head will only use his shockwave attack when you're vaulting a window or pallet making Dead Hard completely useless.
I can also name like 10 more killers who can counter DH in one way or another like Doctor who stops survivors from vaulting completely and Demogorgon whose shred is wayyyyy longer than DH.
-
Nurse/Spirit.

Top survivors also say dead hard is unbaitable.
If you want I can pull up some clips of it, it would take me like 5 mins searching to get 4 or 5 top survivors saying this.
Slugging and Tunneling are strategies, camping is only a strategy if survivors play into it otherwise it's counterintuitive as most top killers think and I'll go through point by point why all 3 of these can be strategies if you want.
Ruin corrupt is a great combo, it slows down the gens which are extremely quick btw. Killers need slowdown, and this is a good combo. Better yet ruin PGTW.
Most top killers think deathslinger is ######### btw. He has no map pressure so against good survivors he sucks. Also watch otz's 50 win streak. He shows you his perks. And doesn't use add-ons.
Nice straw-manning btw, you still haven't answered my scenario. How do you bait it out in the given scenario in my last post, I'll wait for your answer.
A legitimate counter to that argument is that there are lots of killers whose power straight up ignore Dead Hard. There are a lot of killers who can't do anything about it but all of the best killers (except for Nurse) can counter it in one way or another.
Spirit is completely invisible and Dead Harding her in phase is almost impossible and is based on an extremely hard guess. Pyramid Head's shockwave can be longer than DH. Deathslinger's shot is kind of like Spirit's phase because it's extremely hard to predict and very sudden. DH will do nothing against Hag when she has multiple traps in the area. As there are killers who legitimately can't counter DH all of the best ones can and that's why I don't think that it's as good as everyone says.

Wait out Dead Hard.

The main issue is the guy I am refering too is one of the ONLY VALID SURVIVORS!
The developers have rules for survivors being able to logically repair generators...Which sadly most of the Castlevania cast can't do but the guy I referenced and a select few others of equal ridiculousness.
Well that's still not a great argument IMO because how would Laurie, Quentin, and Steve/Nancy or any other teenager suddenly know how to repair a generator? Well the lore answer is that they probably just learned over hundreds of trials of repairing gens. But the real answer is that it's just a video game and ofc teenagers couldn't repair a generator without years of training.
The same could go for somebody like Simon, he could learn how to do it.
-
Yeah it's really bad.

NOED.

There's a difference between nemesis and the belmonts who can conjure a blackhole flaming holy cross that drags in all evil...
I wish i was making that up.
I mean Simon obviously wouldn't have his whip/items. He's buff yeah but he's still a normal human at the end of the day.

Imagine thinking that making yourself vulnerable by performing a bad play, where your back is exposed to the Killer that's in range to grab you, is a bad mechanic.
I've seen some very bad feedback, but this takes the sacrificial cake on this one. You put yourself in danger, you made a poor decision, you gotta live with the consequences, buddy. Can't handle it? Play another game while you wait for your friends to finish all the gens and leave you because you were THAT much of a ninny.
As I've already said a couple times I'm not against the idea of going down when unhooking, it happens all the time and that's the decision I can make. I'm against the extremely buggy mechanic of basically instantly losing the game because the game thinks unhooking is the worst thing a survivor should be doing.
-
Yeah I love the RPD.

I think everyone wants solo queue to be buffed to the level of SWF and then buff every killer in accordance.

Well Freddy is fun to play againts or as him. But sadly i am not seeing so much Freddy anymore. I guess we don't have much Freddy anymore.
I think Freddy is really boring so I am ok with him being rare. Especially with Ruin + Undying I would fall asleep playing against him.
-
I would replace Huntress Lullaby and Overcharge with Ruin + Undying. Also Iron Grasp is really bad.
-
I don't think the rework did much to him honestly.
The only thing that really hurt him were the slowdown add-ons like Swing Chains but those were overpowered to begin with so I don't mind. His power wasn't really changed at all because even if he gets slowed down setting snares it's not going to matter if he's trapped you in a loop. All you have to do is put a snare on one side of the loop and then chase them around and you win. Him being slowed down doesn't even matter.
I still think Freddy is amazing and I wish they did more with the rework honestly.
-
Honestly as a survivor main I really don't understand the hate towards slugging. It rarely happens to me and it seems like way more of a legitimate strategy than camping. When the killer slugs it can be a high risk/high reward strategy with the prospect of the survivors completely coming back without a single hook from the killer.
Slugging is fine and is more balanced than camping IMO.
-
The idea of hex perks are fine and in practice they are mostly fine outside of a few instances. What I really dislike about them though is how random they can be. I feel as if they should be way more consistent because sometimes you can be absolutely destroyed by Haunted Ground or it will do nothing at all. Sometimes Ruin will stay up all game and sometimes it will be gone in 30 seconds. And NOED... let's just not talk about that one.
Like I said I like the general idea of hex perks with the high risk high reward but they're just too inconsistent for me to keep in their current state. Who knows maybe boon totems will even out the playing field a little bit but it seems like the devs have been trying to make game mechanics more consistent lately like with the Trapper and Pig trap reworks.
-
Who prefers flashbangs....?

@TheClownIsKing said:
No.
Even though I’m a pretty hardcore Castlevania fan, I feel like that franchise definitely doesn’t fit in DBD at all.
Really? I kind of think the same way for Ash because most of the stuff he appears in is more action/comedy than horror but he still works for dbd. The only thing that would be weird for Castlevania IMO is that Simon or Richter would look really out of place cuz they're from the middle ages.
-
They should get rid of the difficulty rating altogether. I don't remember ever even using it as a guide and it's really wrong in the first place. Why is Bill hard? Literally all of his perks give passive abilities that don't require you to go out of your way. It doesn't make sense.
