  • Bugged as in doesn't work? Yes.

  • Getting iridescent grade is not at all hard and is now extremely easy because of the no depips.

is that officially confirmed? Because as far as I know some people actually lost progress BY LINKING their accounts. Kinda ironic

Well that's why I was asking if it was safe because there were glitches and people were losing progress by linking.

  • @Apexgnifrums said:

why would someone do that? any benefits?

It protects your account against randomly losing progress which happens sometimes. And you get a charm I think.

  • @Myla said:

Only change I was aware of is that you have point the flashlight more accurately compared to before where it points to where you aim it but as far as timings go. Still the same for me.

    hmm ok.

  • How could it work for killers but then not work for survivors...? If every killer was evenly matched with survivors then that means every survivor is evenly matched too.

  • @MadLordJack said:

That is a lot of edited posts.

But it's not just killers. Plenty of survivors do it as well, it's just as advantageous.

Why did all of those posts get edited anyway

  • Boot the killer from the game if they are consistently getting 200+ ping. Either they are VPNing or they have ungodly internet which in that case they shouldn't be playing the game either.

  • @WretchedElk said:

Can someone explain what ping is?

So basically in this game everything that happens on the killer's screen is the law according to the server (except for pallet stuns. Not pallet vaults, just stuns). So if a killer has really high ping everybody else is really slow and laggy to him so if they get a hit on their screen but it doesn't make sense on your screen the server says it's legit and you go down anyway.

  • Boot you if you go above 500+ ping or something like that. Even if you just have bad internet you're making it impossible for others to play the game and it's not fair.

Matchmaking is based on mmr, not hours played. It was already stated, but you know, repetition will help drive the point home to others that seem to not understand the system they are complaining about.

Lol did I say that MMR was based off of play time? Play time and skill has a correlation and someone with 80 hours should not be matched with someone who has 2000 hours in any universe. Unless you're claiming that the person with 2000 hours either idled every single hour or is actually as good as someone with 80 (which they were not even close).

    Cool.

I regularly verse Survivors with ~200-~500 hours on my +2k-hours account.

Well then maybe your skill level is closer to those that have 200 - 500 hours. Or the MMR is broken.

  • @fitch said:

SWF escape rate higher than soloQ player.

If you always escape ,your hidden points recognize worth powerful killer.

Well we almost never escape anyway lol.

  • @Boss said:

The system does not take playtime into consideration at all.

I know but the killer objectively had more experience than even me and I had way more experience than my friends.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Are you forgetting the god window that can spawn in the Myers house and the house of pain being a near infinite?

It's a good window, yes but not an infinite or even close. Many other maps have windows just as good, the only reason why that window is particularly good is because there isn't a breakable wall yet.

  • People are actually giving this bait post the time of day?

  • It will never happen. We've been complaining about this for years and they just won't do it.

  • I think those guys (especially Guts) are just way too overpowered for dbd. I couldn't see Guts repairing generators and dropping pallets to stop the Trapper, he would destroy the Trapper with his fists easily.

  • "Mark my words" bruh c'mon licenses come and go in other games all the time.

  • As far as we know they can be totems that the survivors have to cleanse to give them an effect like a hex totem.

  • Eh I mean they've kind of done that already with Ash. Yeah the first movie was horror but the other 2 movies were really far away from horror and not scary in the slightest. It was violent but absolutely not horror and was more comedy than anything else.

I'm not super against other non horror characters being in but it would still have to be dark/violent.

It's great to hear that YOUR games have been feeling better and more fun, but the fact that the MMR can be so painfully different between your gameplay and mine is very telling about how broken it is. At the very least i'd want to have an option to disable it and play with other people who also have it disabled

Well you're saying that MMR shouldn't be added based on your experiences alone. I'm trying to give you a different perspective and that a lot of people think MMR is a good thing.

  • Well this game has really had a problem of being too easy to get to red ranks. Basically since the beginning red ranks was filled with people who really didn't deserve to be there and it was annoying for the really good people to me matched with newer players.

If MMR solves this issue it will be a good thing.

  • Blood Warden is fine. If you suspect it just leave the game and don't open the gates until after the survivor gets hooked. If another teammate opened the door hide really far away from the gates and you should be fine.

  • I've really enjoyed MMR and the game feels so much more fair now. It definitely should become a permanent thing.

  • I hate to break it to you but MMR is matching you up with people of similar MMR... If you are genuinely destroying every killer you come across then it will start matching you with better and better killers. If you never stop destroying the killers you play with then you're just the best player that has ever played this game I guess.

Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM) has been enabled for testing on live servers. This test is expected to end August 16, but may be cut short if any issues arise.

    What is SBMM?

SBMM is a new type of matchmaking that uses a hidden skill rating instead of ranks to create fairer matches. This rating increases when you do well and decreases when you do poorly.

    What advantages does SBMM have?

The way ratings are calculated are much more accurate to a player’s skill level than ranks. While there is some correlation between rank and skill, time played in a month is the biggest factor in the old rank system.

Skill based matchmaking ratings are also separate for each Killer, meaning you’ll have tougher matches with the Killer you’re really good at, but easier matches when you’re trying out a new Killer for the first time.

What is different from the last test?

There’s a bunch of differences, so we’ll keep it short:

    • We’re using several months of data to calculate your ratings rather than a few weeks
    • We’ve made changes to how your rating is calculated when playing a Killer for the first time
    • Fixed some bugs with the system (notably, The Hillbilly)

In the last test, we tried the system with only a few weeks of data. This meant the system was treating most players like they were new if they played a Killer that they hadn’t played in the last few weeks. This time around, it should feel much more like you’d expect.

But the biggest thing you’ll probably notice is that ranks will be hidden after a match. This is because they are not being used for matchmaking at this time.

    What will happen to ranks?

During the test, nothing! Your rank will behave exactly the same as normal, it just won’t be shown after the match. Once the test is over, they’ll be used for matchmaking again and will appear after matches.

In the future, once we’ve officially changed to SBMM, ranks will remain as a monthly progression system. Each month, your rank will reset to 20, and you’ll earn Bloodpoints based on how much you’ve ranked up. Both Killer and Survivor have their own rewards, so you can earn double the points by ranking up both sides.

What will happen during rank reset?

During the test: Your rank will decrease slightly like it always does, but your SBMM rating will not change.

When the system goes live permanently someday, your rating will still not change, but your rank will reset all the way back to 20. Rank will instead be used to earn monthly rewards based on how much you were able to rank up in that month. Each role has its own rewards, so you’ll be able to get double the rewards by playing both sides.

    What are we looking for?

We’re looking to see the overall quality of matches, and whether or not the system is able to accurately predict the outcome of a match. Ratings get more accurate as the test goes on, but if you’re getting totally one-sided matches a few days in, please let us know!

    Read this.

I get that but to be more specific I was doing the box behind the counter on gas heaven and she crouched over and blocked me in (window wasn't open either).

Oh yeah well then that is just bad box design.

  • It's good practice to just never hide in corners where a Pig has the ability to block you in. I don't think it's ever happened to me once because I just don't hide in corners.

What kind of cheating, even if it's very miniscule? I want to know what to look out for.

Well there was a guy who recovered from the ground faster than Unbreakable without using Unbreakable and then he healed himself with no medkit or other perk to be able to do it. Luckily the other 3 survivors all saw it and called him out. The other one was a guy flying and healing himself instantly and was doing it just to be funny.

I thought they were aiming for 2ks for most games, not 4ks.

Yeah... I've also had people who have gotten 2ks complaining that MMR is bad because they aren't winning every game like they used to.

  • Once you know how to counter him it's actually pretty bad.

  • Dude their objective is to stop all survivors from escaping. Don't pull this "technically" business.

  • @TheMadCat said:

Who will say "SWF opt in, let's go"?

    Not me, to start with.

Yeah I think very few people would do that lol. Which would suck because 90% of SWF players are just playing with their friends and not being super sweaty or anything.

  • The thing I've noticed with Blight is that his hit box seems enormous, like it extends 360 degrees around him.

  • They added mechanics like bleed out timers and end game collapse specifically for the reason that slugging was too problematic. Since they added those there is no reason to punish for slugging.

  • Your other point about how survivor is just running? I didn't think it was worth addressing. You can boil down any video game to "it's just doing this one thing" and it's a really bad argument. Oh CS:GO is the easiest game I've ever played, just aim and shoot. Just play more of the game you'll realize how much more you have to learn at 150 hours lol.

the game is too complicated? i reached rank 1 killer with blight in 150 hours??? are we talking about the same game? The survivor side is exploring the world of generators and sitting on a loading bar and hitting spacebar every now and then. not to mention chases just involve running around the same obstacle over and over till one guy gets caught.

Reaching rank 1 is the easiest thing in the world, I did it on killer in 1 day. It doesn't mean you're even close to good at the game. Rank 1 has such a disparity between the best and worst, it goes anywhere from someone with 150 hours to someone with 10,000 hours. I'm sorry but if you reached rank 1 at 150 hours you are not as good as someone with 10,000 hours or even 1,000 hours.

  • Honestly I think the game is too complicated for it's own good. I find it hard to recommend to friends because if they really want to get the full enjoyment they would have to put hundreds of hours into it.

The game really is difficult and you don't start getting remotely good at the game until you have like 1,000 hours at least.

  • It should only be a visual bug your rank shouldn't go down.

Hag is one of those harder adepts...

It is different in lower ranks, but I have done all adepts in red ranks, where you need iri each emblem and gatekeeper is quite hard to get on Hag and if you get devour hope, then you will not get iri chaser.

Idk I've never had a problem with most of the killer adepts it just takes time like it does with survivor. Like with every achievement just play enough and you'll get it by sheer luck eventually.

  • Even max stacks of Thanatophobia only increases the time to 100 secs. Any high tier killer can easily down a whole team within 80 secs.

  • @Clevite said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2422903#Comment_2422903

ADepts are supposed to be challenging.

    Laughs in survivor adepts

I mean there are hard survivor adepts like David and easy killer adepts like Hag. Even then survivor adepts are just inherently going to be easier because all you need to do is survive and having medal requirements would be literally impossible lol.

  • If you play a killer you never play it doesn't start you from 0. It's not as high as your highest ranks but it still doesn't put you against new survivors.

  • It's because people were comparing MMR to the old ranking system when they are completely separate and have nothing to do with each other. People would say stuff like "I'm red rank why am I getting matched up with green and purple ranks" when green/purple ranks didn't even exist.

  • Well adept challenges are supposed to be challenging. Just keep playing and you'll get them it's really not that hard. For Myers specifically just use the Tuft of Hair add-on. If you're rank 9 you still have a lot of room to grow as a killer and yeah it gets frustrating for a while.

  • if you use one of the hardest powers in the game you're bad, sorry.

  • EAC literally won't detect if you're flying around the map so you should be fine for running Steam lol.

  • My games have been pretty good. There hasn't been destruction on either side yet. They've all ended in 1/2/3 kills but never 0 or 4.

1 … 12 13 14 15 16 … 40
