Dude did you actually read ANY of what I just wrote? I'm not interested in how many people are active on the forums, at all. I've pointed you to the overwhelming amount of disapproval these patch notes have gotten. Don't reply to me again until you go back and actually read what I wrote, and skim over the front page of the Forums, and Reddit, as well as look at the opinions of TydeTyme, ScottJund, and Ardetha. The posts and comments of the posts AND a majority of the comments on the videos listed seem to agree with the opinion. P.S. this isn't even mentioning twitter, lol.
People outraged at Freddy rework (muh snares are TOO WEAK), exhaustion nerfs for crying out loud. I'm not saying the Ruin changes seem good now but you can't take this community's hysterics at face value. People HATE change of any kind.

That's literally why i bought the game. To do what i could in game before the inevitable death came raining down on me in the form of the killer and then the entity claiming my soul. I didn't buy the game for the bullying simulator that it has been transformed into.
That's most definitely not why most people bought the game. You're an exception.

So the tagline of "death is not an escape" is just to imply that survivors are going to survive at a 50% rate when they learn the intricacies of the game? I don't understand the logic here.
The tagline is a selling point to the game.
NO ONE is gonna play a game where their chance at winning is that small. Again, look for a PVE game if you want to kill everything every single time. You're playing against real people who didn't install the game to please you.

Liscenced DLC will always bring in new players, especially if its something as popular as Stranger Things. Do you have statistics for how many people have left? How many have been playing less than they had in months prior?
I don't know, do you have the evidence? When you make a claim you need to prove it otherwise your point is worth absolutely nothing. The burden is on you chief

The Forums are a dumpster fire, Reddit is a dumpster fire, and YouTube is a dumpster fire.
Maybe you should open your eyes before you mention me claiming that your group of friends opinions decide the state of the community. 80% of the popular content creators disagree with the change completely, that's not even taking into count the few like Monto who would rather test the changes before he finalizes his opinion, so 20% is a generous number to give to the people who think this change is a good one, given. And most of their opinions will be shaped because so many content creators a talking about the change negatively.
An overwhelming majority of the people voicing their opinion, anywhere, are saying no. Even the survivors voicing their opinion are disagreeing this time. Your small group of 4-20 friends being OK with this patch isn't evidence for the state of the community.
Neither is social media. Please show me how many people out of the entire playerbase are active on these sites, I dare you.

You're right, a lot of them just stopped playing the game and moved on to other stuff as changes like this happen. Gotta account for the silent players who just peaced out :)
Oh yes the playerbase is falling HARD the last few months

im fine with this not going exactly my way, if I had things my way DBD would look allot different, less safe pallets. more punishments for camping/tunneling, slower gens/2nd obj. all god loops blocked etc. but with recent killer nerfs then this? this was the straw that broke the camels back
"Recent killer nerfs" were all deserved.
Gen times are fine, map size isn't.
All the new maps are already coming with extremely unsafe pallets and I'm not even sure it's a good thing the way it's being done, since it pretty much encourages pallet camping from the survivors and Bloodlusting as killer.
You're simply focusing on the negative to strenghten your narrative.
Like if you wanna quit just do, no need to spread questionable information to make people angry.

You don't balance it though, lol. The actual devs are supposed to know the difference between a good change and an absolutely horrid one. Tell them congrats on shifting the community into a state of chaos though.
Bold of you to say the community is in a state of chaos when probably not even half of it is active in any form of DBD related social media, let alone the forums.
Me and everyone I know who plays the game are pretty much OK with this patch. I can do anecdotal "evidence" too
-
Yes, it's pretty questionable behavior to threaten people into leaving if you don't have things exactly your way. I didn't think that would need explaining
-
DBD is not a horror movie. It's barely even a horror game at this point.
No, survivor players will not accept being 3 to 4kd every game to satisfy killer players' bizarre power fantasies. That's not how game design or game balance works.
Until people design a PVE DBD-esque game that'll never be a thing.
-
In all seriousness, they DCd because they most likely installed the PTB to test the new content which includes the new map
It doesn't help that your first instinct was to test Hostage Doc pretty much
I'm not saying they were right in DCing just why they did it
-

Yeah it looks nutty. I already liked Lerys now I love it
-
I think gen times would be fine if the larger maps got reduced to like Badham sized.
-
I mean they already said the delay after the shock is changing so maybe wait
-
I'm gonna be honest here, I know the idea wasn't to downright buff him, but there was plenty of room to make him stronger in chases.
I know that it's not the main intention of his power but no killer is good vs good survivors without a power that helps in chases. His shock could be better than it was before without making him overbearing for absolute sure. @Peanits @not_Queen
EDIT I also think his shock should register instantly. There seems to be a delay after it hit when survivors can still do anything. Idk if that`s intentional but it feels sluggish and unresponsive. If possible something should be done about that imo
-
I mean, for everyone saying they're leaving, see yall next week. As usual.

You clearly missed my point. One change isn't going to completely ruin the game. Many killer nerfs will compound to hurt the game. When one killer main quits, 4 survivors are left in a que.
So I'll answer that to you. You can't show me, because literally no one quit the game because of that.

When 2% leave because of this, and 2% from the last legion changes, and 2% more from whatever killer need they throw out next, it adds up and pretty soon 10% of the base is gone in a couple of months. Kiss that revenue goodbye
Show me on Steamcharts how many people left because of Legion changes.
-
I see why people are complaining it's still a hex tho. If I'm going for a late game hex perk I'll go Devour 100% of the time over new Ruin.

Ugh, and I hate CI. A few short minutes and then it’s gone. Then you run around with a wasted perk slot the rest of the game. It’s like using a hex that’s guaranteed to be cleansed. At least with Ruin there was a CHANCE that you’d get decent time from it. As survivor it gives me leisure time to hunt for chests and totems. Hardly a concern. If CI is the new power perk by default......yeesh!
But Ruin almost always lasts less than CI though.
-
No because it isn't.
End of story.
-
I'm gonna give yall a bit of a spoiler. I'm saying like 98% of other killer players because as much as we say stupid stuff in the heat of the moment very few people are gonna quit the game because of changes to a perk that's not even irraplaceable.
-
Why in God's green Earth would I leave the game over 01 perk being changed?

Maps definitely need a massive change with how loops are. Ormond is one big connected tile, and maps like Coldwind are horrid because of the strength of the pallets. The state of maps is currently awful.
Yeah as ScottJund said in his video nobody enjoys running Ruin, it's just a bandaid for how awful some maps are sometimes.
I'll never understand how it's OK that some maps are so different in size to each other. It obviously affects game balance.

I had a game this past weekend on the Huntress' map. I spawned in the shack and headed straight for the most likely survivor spawn point. Along the way, I dropped three traps (travel path, main house window, pallet).
Ruin was gone before I reached the main building. The gen I was heading for was finished while I was still 2 tiles away. I downed one of the survivors that had been working on that gen in under 30 seconds. A second gen popped while i was picking him up.
That's 40% of the survivors' goals completed in 1.5 minutes. New Ruin wouldn't have helped either, for 2 reasons: 1) a survivor obviously spawned right on top of the totem, and 2) none of those survivors stopped working on gens, so it wouldn't have caused regression anyway.
I guess I'm just going to have to level up Plague for CI.
Edit: I don't even LIKE Ruin, but I guess I'm just not the amazing unbeatable monster that some of you claim to be.
That's what I'm talking about. Like, even if losing a gen early doesn't automatically lose you the game, it feels terrible to have to concede a gen.
I feel like a lot more people will run CI now, which like, more power to them. It's an OK perk and is healthier than Ruin. I just hope the devs talk more about map size because it's definitely an issue.

Clown, Huntress and LeatherFace are going to be absolute nightmares to play as on big maps now. Love having maps that take 5 minutes just to get across.
Yeah I think maps should be lower size variance tbh. Being forced to concede an early gen never feels good. And I think it would help no mobility killers more than anything else the devs can do.
-
I don't blame them for wanting to make the game more beginner friendly. They can't count on only veteran players, they also need new players to buy the game.
I do feel we're lacking changes focused on seasoned players though.

Imagine stating that gens regressing at 2x speed (so like, what, 2 seconds of regression for every second a survivor worked on it?) when they aren't being worked on is extremely powerful late game.
I mean, it makes a 3 gen setup virtually impossible to escape.
That's way beside the point though. It's bad when tied to a hex perk. But doesn't mean the effect isn't powerful.

It's easier for them to make things easier for survivors then balance the core issues the game has.
That's exactly the type of comment that doesn't help our communication with the dev team and by consequence doesn't add anything to make the game better.

Maybe the Devs should listen to the devoted streamer community they have as well as the fans. Other Devs do it. Rare recently had Summit1g invited on to one of their streams despite their original hesitance to cater to players in Sea of Thieves who enjoyed his playstyle. Ultimately developers need to realise that the people playing their games might know more about how the game works and is played than they do.
I don't even think it's about knowing more, it's about knowing different things.
The devs are more equipped to cater to the new player experience and changes for the general playerbase, but the devoted players who have stuck around for thousands of hours know more about the limits of the game and the potential everything has. Both points of view are important, I just think they listen very little to how this game works at a high level.
-
I wholeheartedly agree with the changes, I truly do. I just think it should be pushed back until the outlier maps have been addressed. The game would be 10000x times better with better maps and without current Ruin. But changing only one of those at any given time is a terrible move.
-
@Almo said:
New Ruin is extremely powerful late game. It must be a Hex Perk, or it would be OP as hell.
Hey mr Dev, good evening :)
I'm not gonna get into the merit of it being OP in the late game or not, because I haven't tested the perk obviously. But did you guys talk about why Ruin was getting used that much in red ranks at all? Like, it seems weird to change something 80% of players use without tinkering with the reasons why it's used in the first place, especially considering it's less useful against very good survivors.
-
Like, I get it. Some variance is good.
Until you realize how ######### gigantic some maps are.
Just reduce the variance please. If it's necessary add new tiles to the maps you're shrinking, but there's no reason why you should have to hold your W key for over 40 seconds just to get to where you need to be to threaten ANY survivors, as Scott mentions is the case on some maps in this video.
-
I really don't think new killer players need as much help unless matchmaking is putting them against good survivors though.
This is a false equivalence. New survivor players struggle because the game mechanics are already stacked against them until they learn how to run tiles. Seasoned killer players struggle because the game is stacked against them in quite a few maps when the survivors are good - which they should be if they're getting matched against seasoned killers.
So we should aim to make changes that favors new survivors and seasoned killers. There's no assist for new killer players because they don't need it if they're versing survivors of a similar level.

Yes, maps are the main problem.
But I'm not going to wait 5 years for the devs to learn how to make good maps.
And I'm not gonna ask them to put a second objective in the game when they barely got the first one to be somewhat OK.
Adding a new objective is asking to break the game completely. And I can't see how two objectives will be balanced on all maps regardless of size if one isn't.
And increasing gen times still doesn't address the map difference. It's objectively better to reduce map variance.
It's no use introducing out of the box changes if they have the potential to very realistically make the game worse.
-
I honestly actually am not even close to understanding how on earth anyone on the dev team can think it's somewhat balanced or logical to have in the same game with the same mechanics some maps being close to twice the size of others.
-
@Mc_Harty said:
I agree. Ruin was bad game design. But it should have been changed with either secondary objective or gens time getting increased.
Map reworks are going to take forever because the devs are so slow to actually fix anything in this game.
Maps are THE problem though. Increasing gen times is also bad design, and creating a secondary objective that makes sense is much more work than redesigning maps.
-
Well, there are mori dailies.
As long as there are mori dailies I'm not comfortable complaining about key escape challenges tbh.
-
Hell yeah it's soooo broken to give up 2 perks to save 7 seconds on a gen only when you're both injured when people are already being inneficient by doing the gen together in the first place
I'll DEFINITELY take that over DS, Unbreakable, Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, Iron Will, Adrenaline or any other actually good perk
For real though are we really running out of things to complain that much that we're complaining about Prove Thyself and Resilience?

I am of the opinion that the lethality of the RBTs is in a pretty good spot, and I am not in favor of anything that would end up making the Traps less lethal.
I mean, I'm absolutely sure they'll never buff anything else about her ever without reducing variance on the traps, and I'd prefer her stealth to be less useless but ok.

I don't like the idea of removing the last box as a Key option because then the death traps go from "rarely kill" (which is reasonable) to "never kill," which kinda defeats the point of there being a Saw character to begin with.
The idea is not removing it, it's tampering with the chances so that boxes 2 or 3 are more likely than 4 (and 1 doesn't happen). Reading my comment again I didn't make myself clear enough, sorry.

Not really map lottery. Huntress has a few shes god tier on, a ton of average maps, and a few bad ones. It's no where near the 50/50 you think. Probably closer to 85/15. Even on the bad ones you can still 4k good groups it's just super annoying and not worth it.
But that's what I said. I was talking about getting looped. If you're not on a few select maps you're getting looped more often than not. It's not about winning.

Very good point. I never seem to do well with Hag though and I can't play Nurse so sometimes I honestly just take the chance XD But I definitely agree the maps need to be reworked so you can actually throw over loops
I recommend Hag because I main her but I get why a lot of people don't play her
But yeah, Huntress on good maps for her is so fun. I think Huntress on Autohaven or McMillan is my favorite killer in the game
-
@Crazewtboy said:
Might be killers getting fed up with looping or just trying to make their lives easier during events. I know there used to be a lot of huntress mains too and from my experience whenever an event hits all the people who don't play the game come out of hiding for the event
If you're fed with looping you can play Nurse or Spirit or Hag instead of playing the map lottery with Huntress and having a 50% chance of... getting looped
-
I hate WGLF. I hate how if I want to farm as killer I get to run one of the best perks in the game (that I'd probably use even if it didn't give bonus BPs) and as survivor I have to waste a perk slot.
I truly feel this perk deserves a rework OR we need more perks with a similar effect in the game.

I think he’s kind of fun, I do feel weaker with him than a lot of other killers but I haven’t played him a lot so maybe with practice he could be closer to a good tier?
I never liked billy either though I’m not a fan of the charge up one hit powers honestly.
I think he used to be better than Billy when he was released but now he's mid to high mid tier. He still has map pressure and an instadown, and when you start hooking people you have your power quite often, but he has to run loops like normal killers now.
I feel like if they bring it back to 90 degrees he'll be very good.
-
Of course he's not garbage. People are upset because he got unfairly changed (90 degrees was a good compromise) but he's still not bad.

It really isn't worth it. I have no evidence the streamer told their community to actively harass my DMs but they did tell their community (their version of course) of what happened, posted a 10 second clip of them spinning my billy saw and that's what led to me getting harassed. I had my face pic in discord and someone was talking trash about how I looked.
It doesn't help I turned off DMs because my phone was getting spammed at a new year's eve event and I blocked everyone that messaged me whom I didn't know. I was flustered and didn't really know how to respond to my first instance of ever being harassed on the internet.
Now I know, if this ever happens to you, take screenshots, send them in. But again, behaviour has dealt with banning content creators in the past and it's very hurtful to their company/profits.
I'm sorry you went through that. I just lay low in this game and block my steam profile because I can't be bothered to deal with people, but no one should be forced to do that. Especially being a streamer.
I hope that doesn't happen again. Those people don't deserve the mental energy we're forced to waste on them.
-
@BongRips4Wraith said:
I had a certain streamer's (off-stream for them, on stream for me) SWF team dive bomb the hook so I downed them with billy since nobody was pressuring gens by surrounding the hook. Then I get called a camper for not leaving and going after the dive bombers.
Then they sent their discord mob to spam my direct messages on NEW YEAR'S EVE when I left their server because I didn't want to hear their nasty insults. That constitutes as cross-platform abuse, which is supposed to be a suspension from the game.
The streamer in question has a cosmetic in-game though so since they are a "pinnacle of the community" there's no chance in hell I will waste my time reporting it. Couldn't even message the streamer to tell them who was harassing me because they blocked me before I could say anything.
Dude, you were quite obviously in the right in that situation. If you have any sort of evidence you MUST report this.
I know it's a tall mountain to climb and the chances of nothing happening are big, but if you do nothing then it's 100% that nothing will happen.
