I mean, why wouldn't there be one, every single game has one. Sometimes you legit have to go.
That's why most games have some sort of DC penalty for repeated DCs too. People who need to go can leave without pulling the cable or killing the game process, but people who DC more than acceptable can get punished.

Its always this way.
If you play only survivor 90% will be killer dailies and vice versa.
The system is by design a way to try and get people to play the one they don't as much.
I mean, are you sure?
My dailies have always been at least 70% killer. Even when I only played killer.

So is low player count the reason that when I play killer the survivors are consistently at least 5 ranks higher than I am? It's kind of unfun sometimes to go against people who are clearly better than I am although you still get high rank potatoes
Nah, that's bad matchmaking logic.
Playerbase numbers are fine, it's the matchmaking that has been consistently ######### up lately.

That's why the best stuff comes from the U.S., no days off. If I had it my way, the only winter holidays I would give off would be Dec. 24-26. End of story. When you run a company that requires consistent customer support, it doesn't sit well with many to take extended periods of time off.
If that's how you want to live, ok, but take that dystopian nonsense away from me.
That's not healthy NOR good for productivity. This has been proven time and time again.
-
Honestly I just chill as killer in these events.
I play normally, but if I get stomped too hard I just try to find a survivor buddy to farm a little with. I can't really get upset when I'm getting almost 100k BPs a game, no matter what happens in game.
I find playing survivor in these events more stressful (which is ironic because killer is by far more stressful normally). If the killer decides to hard focus you, you're getting very few BPs as survivor.

If you honestly played killer as much as i do you'd know there are some god tier survivors who are capable of running you for a match by themselves. Happens. To make it seem like downing someone twice is a given is disingenuous and wrong.
Yes, I play killer A LOT (probably 75% of my thousand something hours in this game) and I have yet to lose a game where I use an Ebony mori.
And I've been quite successful when I just had a daily and erased someone from existance at 2 minutes into the game.
It is relatively easy unless you get outplayed big time, and by that I mean you have to outplay yourself a little bit too.
-
I can see where this comes from tbh. 90% of the dailies I get are from the killer side, which is great when I'm playing mostly killer but really sad when I want to simply play with friends or don't feel like managing as many things as you have to as killer.
It should be at least more of a 50/50 imo.

So by down them once and then tunnel them off hook, you meant down them twice. Lol i like how you use the word tunnel as if it's anything different happening. You're still being downed. If the killer cannot best you in that chase he won't. You also have borrowed time as a defense. If a killer could kill instantly with no effort that would be unfair. The way it is now is fair. You guys act like killer mains literally have never been tunneled or morid. We all have. And you're right it sucks. Get over it and get in the next match or sulk and quit. Jesus
Thank God you're not in charge of balance of anything.
Moris are even more disgusting than keys. Not only the killer can get rid of a survivor after one chase (no matter how you spin it, the killer CAN make it nigh impossible to escape for the survivor he wants to mori), it's pretty much instantly a loss for the other survivors. If the killer is any competent he'll win a 1v3 easily, ESPECIALLY if it's an Ebony mori. Nothing should be a guaranteed win in this game the way moris are.
"We've all been tunnelled and we know it sucks" isn't a defense for anything. "Bad thing happened to me so suck it up when it happens to you" is such a bs statement I can't even. Let's just leave all instawin buttons in the game unchecked then. Let's keep keys as they are and while we're at it let's bring back old MoM and Instaheals too, because both were way less BS than moris are.
This isn't the 90s my man. People can patch their game to make it better. I play mostly killer too btw but that doesn't mean we need to have crappy opinions.
-
I think they're afraid of making her stronger because when the survivors get unlucky the RBTs delay them for AGES. I legit think her traps should be less random with less edge cases (both removing first try and removing last try) so they could buff her stealth and ambush because that part of her kit is pretty lackluster imo.

How exactly is noed unfair when you have the power to remove it entirely? Huh?
Moris are fair because you must be outplayed at least twice for them to work.
No, you need to down someone once and tunnel them off the hook.
Even if the survivor is miles better than you he probably can't help being downed once. That's just how the game goes, there are no infinite resources and sometimes there's nowhere else to run. That's why moris are stupid. Being hooked once will happen if the killer really wants to hook you, no matter how much better than him you're playing. Moris guarantee a win, except for Cypress, and are way too impactful for an offering.

OK sure I'll play less SWF and stop having fun with the game real quick that's how to fix it
-
Nope. Check steamcharts. The last 4 months have been the highest in average players in the history of the game.
And it most definitely hasn't been "getting worse" either. We have a ######### patch, that's all. It doesn't change the fact that patches previous to this one have been very good, and the game is in its healthiest spot ever. Just because it's not perfect it doesn't mean it's getting worse.
-
I play normally, the only exception is when I'm playing as killer and the game goes south too fast for the survivors (someone DCs etc) then I'll farm with them a bit, if they want to.
-
Freddy never even relied on his Forever build to be good tbh. He's pretty much Clown in chases but with an added bonus of the lullaby (which is confusing compared to the terror radius) and map pressure. He's a solid, strong killer. There's definitely counterplay to him, but it requires multiple survivors playing decently, which can be rare sometimes. But it be like that in team games, sometimes you just get matched with potatoes.
-
Wow the killer is pretty much Belle Gunness. LOVE that. Hope it's the next chapter.
-
Solo survivor is generally a bad experience overall. I play both sides equally and honestly, people can ######### and moan about how hard it is to play killer all they want, I'd rather be any killer than solo survivor at red ranks (or at any rank).
As killer all you have to blame for your shortcomings is yourself and the game. Solo survivor has the added bonus of relying on three complete strangers in a game where rank doesn't mean much, so your chances of going against a good killer with three potatoes as teammates are pretty high.
I think that's why there are so many immersed players at red ranks. I personally get bored to death if I play like that, but it's probably better to just not get found and let everyone else die if you just care about escaping, rather than running the killer around for ages with no guarantee whatsoever that they'll do gens or even save you afterwards.
Anyway, not implementing basekit Kindred was a mistake.

Name one other game that a new player has to wait 20 to 40 minutes in between every 15 minutes of playing. Hint, there isn't any. Dbd is definitely the worst.
I did not have problems with queue times when I was new, but that's honestly beside the point.
The game has decent new player tips, has a softer difficulty curve than a lot of multiplayer games and you can always play with more experienced people to teach you. Literally any MOBA is far worse to get into because of the massive amount of knowledge you need. Any MMO is worse to get into because you need lots of grind to start doing cool stuff. The only popular genre that's easier to get into is probably FPS games. Not to mention the toxicity which is bad on DBD but far worse on other team games when it comes to new players (see older folks trying to get into League of Legends and giving up because they can't understand why their teammates want their family to die). Other than that I'd rather be a new player on DBD any day of the week.
-
Far, far FAR from the worst game to get into.
-
The only benefit the penalties bring is that killers get hook points before they suicide on hook
Which is good imo, but it solves literally nothing besides that
-
All edge no point
-
Same tbh. I find myself hitting a lot more greats when I'm against Ruin.

Gens popping are not a problem if you go for the weakest survivor and ignore the ones that try to bait you. Less survivors alive, the easier it is to kill the stronger ones.
The point you're missing is: if you no-hook everyone else just to go for a weak link, you'll have 2 gens left vs good survivors.
If the remaining survivors are good, you'll just downright lose and have 2 kills at most.
Tunnelling as a general strategy is bad vs good survivors. Tunnelling when the time is right is extremely valid and effective, but if you build your entire playstyle around focusing one person you'll just get dumpstered by good survivors every time.
-

It’s pretty useless if there’s more than 1 gen left and the killer has enduring. Heck, the survivor could be dribbled or slugged for 60 secs, making DS irrelevant.
Also, if the killer decides to start the match with tunneling, he could get rid of everyone’s DS early on.
Dribbling no longer exists and Enduring no longer affects DS. What year are we in?
And if you waste time getting rid of all the DSs, good luck not having all gens pop right in your face vs good survivors.
-
@AvisDeene said:

Excuse me, but I’m 9, thank you very much! And I only tunnel when most gens are done and I don’t have many options! Or when the survivors teammate is over confident, thinking I won’t tunnel if they unhook while I’m still standing there.
Oh, you think I’m going to take the bait and chase you and let the weakened one go? Nope, you enjoy watching me ignore you while I down that poor survivor you just farmed.
And that's why DS is pretty much mandatory in this game
-
I mean a lot of killer players have the mental fortitude of a 8 year old girl so that's possible
But not likely I don't think.
-
- They're probably doing this because of the Doctor update, just like they reworked Badham along with Freddy,
- Lery's is outdated and needs a rework anyways.
- Haddonfun probably has licensing issues for changing it.
The only reason why indoor maps are killer sided is because less experienced survivors can't find gens and totems in said maps. Except for Hawkins which is just a bad map overall. Good survivors do just fine on Lery's and The Game, so changing Lery's will most likely help new survivors while changing very little for good survivors which is a net win no matter how you look at it.
Also like I said they can't just change Haddonfun (or The Game) on a whim. They're licensed maps from licensed chapters and anything that changes on those chapters probably needs permission from the license owner. It's not as easy or black and white as people here seem to think, but oh well, that goes for anything in life really.

L-O-L - Forums being used as a point of reference.
Yes, complaints about map balance is "about not wanting to get better". Complaints about hitboxes are about "not wanting to get better". Complaints about desync causing things like grabs to show the animation, but not actually happen are "about not getting better". Complaints about people buying a DLC, and the devs pulling a blatant "take the money and run" and nerfing something about it immediately after release is "not wanting to get better".
OKAY there guy. You got me.
People getting upset because of changes to DLCs is NOT JUSTIFIED. There's not a hidden line on the terms of service that entitles you to owning dumb stuff in the game because you paid for it.
And those complaints are a very small minority. Most of it is "devs bad survivor sided!!!111!!"1" and I can't take those people seriously.

The people don't have to discredit the devs. They do a good enough job at it themselves. They have a reputation for what they do (and do not do), and it's not a good one. Despite what they make in cosmetic sales. You fail to realize why people complain. People complain because they love the game. They want it to succeed. They don't want it to die. They want it to be a good experience; but if you're going to put on your white knight armor and seriously say their priorities and methods are severely out of whack, you need to join us in reality.
Honestly you sound like you don't even read the forums.
Most complaints are simply because people don't want to get better at the game or are looking at something else to explain their own shortcomings.
This game is in the best state it has ever been, or at least it was before this patch. The devs do a great job with what they have.
And this game is FAR from dying. People complaining are just an annoyingly loud minority. If the game was as bad as people make it out to be people would be quitting in large numbers, which they aren't.

That doesn't disprove that some things they said would happen in 2019 are still in the "beta" phase.
This just in: every single roadmap ever is subject to change because no one can see the future.
Pumping out new content is A LOT easier than making a mobile game that runs properly or magically implementing perfect servers. If people stopped complaining for the hell of it they'd realize this.
-
Gotta love the "the roadmap was a scam" people not even being able to think for a little bit and realize the roadmap was NOT for the entirety of 2019, it was for the second half of 2019 and first half of 2020. You guys should check your facts a bit before throwing stones at the devs.

I was looking at the roadmap for 2019, and got a bit confused since there were FOUR chapters on it, yet we have only gotten THREE. (Ghostface, Stranger things, Oni/Yui). It HAS to be hard to achieve. The perk gives way too much to be easily attainable,

Do a mistake while looping? Just Dead Hard to the next pallet and prolong the chase for another 30 seconds atleast.
Can't outrun the killer with borrowed time on you? Just Deceisive Strike him.
Get slugged? Just use Unbreakable.
Oh and killer get what? Noed? Good for getting one kill I guess because Killers don't have any pressure when all generators are powered regardless.
- That's not due to "making a mistake while looping". Most survivors who run DH make risky plays because they're running Dead Hard. And it can be played around as killer.
- Can't count to 60? Get DSd. I'm sorry, except for the stupid locker interaction the perk is fine.
- That's the most questionable part of your post that's already pretty questionable overall. You're talking about a perk which is simply a wasted slot most of the time. Unbreakable is a high risk high reward perk, just like Devour Hope or Haunted Ground. Besides, if slugging 4 people was an absolute win condition for killer the game would be much worse than it is.
Besides, killers have A LOT of perks which rely on them failing in some degree. There's a lot to complain about as killer: giant maps, dedicated servers turning survivors into formula 1 karts, things like that. But other than DS on lockers there's nothing even close to imbalanced on survivor perks.

Her hatchets are good as is. She's not supposed to be able to use her power at every single loop.

@Peanits said:
Earlier this week, we asked you what statistics you would like to see. Since then, we have collected data on some of the most popular requests and designed some fancy graphics for them. There are a few things to note:
- This data does not include the recent PTB.
- Data involving rank was collected shortly before a rank reset (April 1st to April 7th).
- These are very general statistics, so use caution before drawing any conclusions.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/719/CPIDC1XE8JBT.jpg
Average Party Size
This is the overall average, between all ranks and platforms, of how many other Survivors players are queuing up with. More than half of the total Survivors are playing solo, while only 3-6% are playing in a full Survive With Friends group. This is based on the group size out of the total number of matches.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/771/II0BH5BS6HP0.jpg
Party Size Survival Rate
This is the average chance of Survival per Survivor depending on the size of the Survive With Friends group they are playing in. This is an average between all ranks on all platforms.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/270/X1L1JQEBEOMA.jpg
Survival Rate by Rank
This graph shows the average rate of survival per Survivor at any given rank, per platform. Please note: The data collected is using your rank after the match, so players who depipped from rank 1 down to rank 2 would appear as rank 2 for our purposes. This is likely the reason why you'll notice a large gap between the survival rate of rank 1 and rank 2: Players who survived were more likely to pip and maintain their rank, while those who died were more likely to depip and lose their rank.
This data was also collected between April 1st and April 7th, after the pipping thresholds were originally changed but before they were later tweaked to be more forgiving for Survivors. Because of that, the statistics at this rank are from a small sample size consisting solely of the best players that could maintain rank 1 with the strict pipping conditions.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/198/WJGATDU9GIYC.jpg
Average Game Length
This graph shows the average game length at any given rank for each platform. This is the time from the start of the match until the final Survivor either escapes or is sacrificed.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/103/8BOLFYNH0D9I.jpg
Most Popular Killer by Rank
This chart shows which Killer is the most popular depending on rank, per platform. For example, on PC from rank 1-4, nurse is the most popular Killer, while Hillbilly tends to be more popular from rank 5-12. The highest overall usage for any Killer at a given rank is the Nurse at rank 1, coming in at 22.39%.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/398/4A494UUNC0WZ.jpg
Highest and Lowest Kill Rates
This chart shows the deadliest (yellow) and least deadly (red) Killers per platform. These stats are an average for all ranks. Since there are four Survivors, a 50% kill rate equates to two Survivors escaping and two Survivors dying.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/928/2YVQMEWUS0KN.jpg
Most Used Perks (Survivor)
This chart shows the most popular Survivor perks based on rank ranges between all platforms. We decided not to display ranks 13-20 as they tend to be more random (newer, lower ranked players tend to use whichever perks they have rather than picking what they want specifically). The numbers displayed are the percentage that perk is used of all perks used at that rank.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/781/T8VE1J9V3G07.jpg
Most Used Perks (Killer)
This chart shows the most popular Killer perks based on rank ranges between all platforms. Like the Survivor perks above, we decided not to show ranks 13-20. The number displayed are a percentage of the total perks used at that rank range.
Is there something that confuses you? Maybe you'd like to know a more precise number on one of these stats? I'll be doing a live Q&A in the official Dead by Daylight Discord server tomorrow at 2PM EST.
If you are not in the Official Discord server, you can join here: https://discord.gg/549m9NT
The Q&A will take place in the #game-discussion channel.
Here they did "survival rate by rank". People freaked out when they saw the 70ish% for rank 1, but the numbers work like that because when people die they most likely depip and go to rank 2, so the data was skewed towards survivors who didn't depip. When they examined the data that took into account survivors who were rank 1 before the games, the escape rate fell to 43% iirc.

But what if DCs happen more often in red/purple ranks? And survivors in the other ranks are just worse in general while playing M1 killer isn't that hard, so they get killed more often? Bam, statistical bias.
Global stats mean absolutely nothing, they should do it per rank bracket or something. Zoom in more. And then some more. There could be serious differences in kill rates between ranks, or different platforms, and you wouldn't be able to tell any of that from this data. It's meaningless and balancing your game based on it is a terrible idea.
Looking at how BHVR balances their game and how they actually suck at playing their own game I honestly doubt they know much more than I do. They are a small team and most likely don't have a dedicated data analyst for balancing. They're just winging it.
They have zoomed in. They have red ranks data for all killers. Zooming in any more than that is useless. People depip if they lose, so rank 1 data is extremely skewed, as we saw the first time they released data this year.
The harsh truth is that there's no more data to be had because most people aren't good at this game, even at red ranks. And that's exactly why balancing at a high level is a mistake in DBD.

Considering how bizarrely common DCs are (esp before penalties), they have an impact on this data regardless.
Does it disregard games where someone DCs? Data inaccurate.
Does it still count the games where someone DCs? 3vs1 so killer has a major advantage.
They should hire a data scientist because this chart means absolutely nothing. People are drawing wrong conclusions based upon it, devs included.
If the DCs skew data it's in the favor of survivors even. If no matches with DCs are counted, the system only takes into account the games where no survivors DC, aka the games that are going relatively well for survivors in comparison.
So no, there's no possible interpretation of the data that makes survivors look good. I too believe the game is survivor sided at the highest level, but distorting data does nothing to prove your point.
The devs have the context we don't. Are the stats perfect? No. But stop pretending you know more than the devs because you don't.
-
@Tr0g said:
This chart probably counts DCs as kills as well (the game does), so you can decrease the percentage of everything by 20.
And suddenly killers don't seem so powerful anymore.
The devs already stated multiple times that DCs are NOT taken into account in this data.
So unless we're ready to put our tinfoil hats on and call the devs liars, this is innacurate. Stop spreading misinformation, the forums are already toxic as is.

I like the idea of having individual ranks but they should scale up slightly with your highest. For example if you are rank 1 Oni your Trapper, who you never use, should be a minimum of rank 10.
Because even if you never touched Trapper in your life a rank 1 is still a rank 1 and would destroy any newbie rank 20.
Yeah that's the main problem. There should be a minimum rank.
Anyone who mains any killer that's not like Nurse at rank 1 should be able to dumpster low ranks with any M1 killer. The fundamentals aren't that different.
-
Oh, and Oni is absolutely not C tier, even without his flick. He's at the very least B. Just because he's not disgusting like he was in the PTB anymore it doesn't mean he's bad. He has map pressure AND an instadown in his power, that's more than half the cast already.
-
Yes keep underrating the Hag please, I'll never have to worry about her being nerfed
May my dark magics remain a secret
Other than that, I still can't see Ghostface above Hag, Huntress or even Freddy. Not when his strongest playstyle is hard countered by a perk that's not even that rare, and soft countered by Sprint Burst.
