Killers are designed to catch up with survivors no matter how good they are, ballets will run out at some stage anyway and you will catch up always, question is why would you target the guy getting unhooked!

so how to counter it? hit the other guy while he is unhooking and now both are injured so chase the new guy, allow the player got unhook to play a bit? is that bad?

Nope. That's what I do. If a survivor goes for the save, and I am still in close range. I go for the savior, because most likely, the one getting unhooked is an innocent victim of someone's stupidity.

  • I'm better at playing clown than any other killer, and I play them all. As with any killer, he can be strengthened with a good build.

  • @Reborn2020 said:

Maybe now that people are resorting to swf killers games will get more interesting

Possibly, but there will be some killers out there that will throw a fit, because swf usually have a private chat, and they don't like that.

  • @EmpireWinner said:

    I feel you.

Had a game with rank 4 claudette crouching around the map, not doing a single gen and refused to unhook me, making me go to second phase, while the killer was chasing another person.

SWF is my go to option

I prefer swf over solo. You know you have someone you can depend on. Thanks to the recent issues with match making, we have high rank survivors that don't have the skill, or experience to be those ranks, because a lot of them have ranked up by going against low rank killers that do not challenge them.

  • @Carpemortum said:

So, you're mad about a key, and your defense is to DC and then begrudgingly stop playing killer...because of the DC? That you KNEW YOU WOULD GET?

It's a key, for ######### sake. If its used it means you did your job and that's the only way they escape. Its essentially a hatch loss. Which isnt a loss.

Also if keys are this big of an issue for you, to where you DC and then get mad about the DC, over a key, maybe start running franklins??

Or just deal with it, and not whine about it. They're part of the game.

  • @Ardjet said:

Well, if the update is delayed a mere week (which is nothing) - they probably have their reasons. I would rather wait a bit for a better working patch than get something buggy and unfinished early.

    Agreed

  • It's just one more thing that you have to adapt and overcome.

  • @Mikey4Hire said:

Y'all realise that If we get rid of the option for people to play together or give a penalty just because your playing with friends then half the survivors are gonna quit dbd, including me and my friends. Swf is the only thing survivors can do to have fun in the game anymore. You guys act like all swf is a bully squad and is determined o ruin your game.

Well said. My former squad ( they quit playing ).😭😭 were all experienced players. We had been playing together since the game came to console ( ps4 ). We all played to relax, joke around, and have fun. Private chat room talking about all kinds of crazy stuff ( adults only ). Lol.. Not just the game. If the killer was cool, we sacrifice ourselves at endgame. If they were douchebags, well, they learned what an experienced squad can do. Our intention was never to bully the killer, but to make the game fun. ( Boop the snoot, butt dance with ghostface, ect. ) it's all what you make of it, and we try to make it fun.. I mean, it's just a video game..

What you talking about at rank 1? These days all you have to do as a killer is get to rank 12-14 to get matched against rank 1-4.

    Facts

  • I think it's fine. I use the building when playing survivor, and am pretty good at cutting them off as killer since I'm familiar with the layout..

I expected less than positive responses. But for the most part, everybody has not scolded me for what I said. Thank you.

I play both sides, and enjoy it. I get frustrated at times, especially when playing killer ( pig and trapper main ), but I just shake it off and move on. It's just a game, and effects you in real life non whatsoever, so have fun with it..

Im saying having so many killers with cooldowns is getting old. The cooldowns themselves aren't bad its that we have SO many killers with them.

    Billy - No cooldown

    Nurse - Slight cooldown

Michael - No cooldown (buildup instadowns)

    Pig - No cooldown

    Hag - No cooldown

Doctor - No Cooldown on Shock Therapy; Cooldown on Static Blast

Huntress - No cooldown; just reloads.

    Hag - No cooldown

    Bubba - No cooldown

Freddy - No cooldown on Snares; Cooldown on Teleport

    Plague - No cooldown

    Legion - Cooldown

    Spirit - Cooldown

    Clown - No cooldown

Ghostface - Cooldown (115% m/s no terror radius, can be used for stealth and instadowns)

Demo - No cooldown on Shred; Cooldown on Teleport

Oni - No cooldown (buildup instadowns)

Deathslinger - No cooldown; just reloads

Where are these “so many killers with cooldowns”? The majority don’t.

  • @JHondo said:

I play both sides almost equally nowadays so for me I try not to let it get to me and look for crazy moves or techniques that are well executed but if I'm getting bullied a lot I'll just moonwalk around or spin in circles so they can't have their fun using my hag or doc as a punching bag. If it's a particularly awful trial I just go to the basement and go afk and get a snack or a drink to get away and calm down and hopefully they'll have their objective done and leave cause they can't bully the killer anymore.

Same here. I've had matches where I was getting crushed so bad that I just shook my head, rolled my eyes, and stood by the exit until it was powered so I can open it and get the match over. I always try my best, but there are times when you just know you stand a snowball's chance in hell..

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

Most matches are pretty straight forward for me. Find a person, do the looping, hook the person, rinse and repeat until I win or I lose. I just don't get all that stressed anymore, I used to no doubt but the more I play, the less it bothers me. I'm just used to everything the survivors can do so I don't get as stressed when they do them. I've also lost plenty of times by this point so it doesn't really bother me as much.

When I do have a game that stresses me to high heaven for whatever reason, I'll just play a couple meme games. Go around as Ghostface and t-bag people, hide at an exit gate with Noed as Wraith, 50/50 Pig, Mad Grit backpacking, Franklins and trapping/camping items, Bubba's basement, etc. Doing a couple games like that every once in a while where you just have fun and don't actively try to win is pretty stress relieving.

Hell, if even one survivor gives up their item to me or starts to meme in an otherwise serious game, I'll 95% of the time just stop trying and mess around for the rest of it. Treating the game as a game helps a lot to keep me going in it. We're not getting paid to play after all so have fun in anyway you can.

    👍👍👍👏👏👏...

Is this without tunneling, camping, slugging, body blocking, ect..? If it's all skill, then hats off to you..

  • Glad it's not just me experiencing this. Go to snatch them off a gen, or totems, or hook, and nothing. I temporarily freeze and they get away..

I paid my money and NO your game experience isn’t my problem nor is it anyone’s problem. The sooner you get that through your head the better, I will teabag your dead body, I will camp your hook, I will tunnel each person I find, I want the other players experience to be as awful as possible.

Killers are not entitled to the 4k, but they are entitled to maximize their shot at it.

Both sides should have to work hard to achieve their goal. No short cuts. Just an honest hard fought match..

Not really sure why Killers feel so entitled to a 4k, there should always be a chance for a survivor to escape, even if its not that high. The hatch mechanics by themselves are still killer sided because all killers have faster movement speed so they can cover more ground searching for it

    👍

  • @ABannedCat said:

Or fix the the inherently flawed hatch mechanic, so killers are not forced to slug to get all 4 survivors.

Killers aren't forced to slug. They choose to, because God forbid 1 survivor escape, and deny them the precious 4k that they just have to have.

And that's the part I don't get. Why do the majority of survivors seemingly not care at all about doing gens? It's unfathomable to me.

I do it all. Gens, totems, chest, saves, heals. I'm not very good at jukes and loops, so I tend to play stealthy.

As we've mentioned multiple times, that is not intended. We have a new ranking an matchmaking system on the way that'll address that: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/

I can't wait. Consistent matches against green, and purple rank survivors as a rank 16 killer is getting a little frustrating. I'm ready for matches that are fun, and challenging for both sides..

  • I luv my blendette..... watch me disappear....... abracadabra.......👀👀

  • Agreed. You have to apply serious map pressure, and that's easier said than done. Especially on the bigger maps...

  • @JC316 said:

Matchmaking is hands down the biggest problem right now. I was one of those affected by the rank reset, I went from rank 7 down to rank 13. Quit playing for 4 days to let the death squads get back into red ranks and I picked it back up tonight. I was playing against rank 6-11 with 200-2500 hours in the game, but most in that 400 range. Far closer to my own 200 hours.

Wanna know what happened? No rampant use of deadhard, bt, DS, and adrenaline.

First match was me as Freddy. Got a 2k ruthless. Second game was me as Billy. Got a 3K Ruthless. Third game was Billy, got a 2 man Brutal. Last game was Nurse, got a wannabe death squad... Sorry boys, I've been playing against the real deal for the last couple of months, I got a 4K merciless.

This was an enjoyable night. I got juked a few times, I lost survivors, I didn't 4K every match and my blood pressure never got over 120/70. It's these rank 1 SWF squads with over 10K combined hours that I get 90% of the time that send me off the deep end.

Yep. I really hope that this new match making thing works out, and puts both killer, and survivor in the same skill bracket. I'm getting tired of consistent matches against green, and purple ranks, and getting my ass handed to me. I don't mind a good challenge, but damn..

  • I rarely ever had to use it, because I always ran with a regular 4man squad ( WITH PRIVATE CHAT ). Sorry killers. I had to say that... lol.lol. however, I used it religiously on the rare occasions that I did run solo, but realized that I was getting dependent on it, as well as some other perks. I want to be able to rely on skill. Don't get me wrong, I always run perks. I just try to use different ones so I don't become reliant on certain ones..

  • @Chicagopimp2019 said:

I dont anymore. I used to have it on every build but Inner Strength is a way faster heal and is now my go to perk for healing.

Same. And since cleansing totems activates it, you're doing 2 things at once.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

Players relying on slugging just couldnt do their objective the proper way, so they had to outdo basical game mechanics to ensure kills that wouldnt have been their else. Those are the bad ones.

    👍👍👍

  • I agree that 5 minutes is a bit much for your first DC. It's sad that players even feel the need to DC in the first place, but I get it. Hell, I've done it. Most of us play to relax, enjoy, and have fun. Not feel forced to have to tolerate a style of gameplay that makes you miserable, which, in a way is what the penalty is doing in my opinion. Killers can play any way they want now ( not that they didn't before ) with the comfort of knowing that survivors have to deal with it, or take a " time out ", which is wrong, and it's making a lot of them be bigger douchebags. An insidious camping legion, an rbt tunneling pig, a face camping doctor. That's 3 that I faced last night. I don't understand that kind of gameplay. I mean, you're not learning anything, and you're not improving your skill..

  • @fleshbox said:

If you play fair with how fast the gens are going i lose nearly every game.

I installed it again today to see this red stain issue on low graphics settings. You can see them through the walls if you tweak your card settings for some reason.

Played a few killers games. I played fair and tried to get as many hooks as possible but never manged to kill just two. It was always getting stomped on or doing the stomping. There is no balance in this game.

If you want rank then you will have to play as nasty as you can. That means slugging, prox camping and tunneling. It is that simple. The gens are being done so fast that this is now the only option.

Needless to say after seeign the red stain through walls i immediately uninstalled this once again. That is just game breaking. No wonder some can do exceptional "mind gaming" when they can see the stain.

Rank isn't important to me. A challenging, solid, fun match is.. ranks are just numbers that do not benefit you in any way whatsoever.. I do agree that this game seems to be slowly sinking.. current issues need to be addressed to get it back up to par..

  • @AddictedNoob244 said:

There not good enough to try and have fun. They can’t play effectively and only care about the “win” It usually results in 3 escapes and the person in the hook bored out of their mind because there’s nothing to do. It’s not fun to camp, or to be camped. Not just DBD, pretty much all competitive online games have this. I have had people that camp openly say “I don’t care about having fun, I just want to prove myself better than everyone else.”

Or say that the killers role is to kill, not make sure survivors are having fun. They don't realize the fact that they can do both..

It's been quite some time ago, but I had a killer tell me, and I quote. " I play for my fun. Screw everyone else. "

  • @ClickyClicky said:

Because they don’t want to have to learn how to play effectively, so they resort to camping which is the cheapest and easiest way to get kills in any online game.

It’s frowned upon in every game but those people don’t care about sportsmanship they only care about the win. Hence why people like that are drawn towards NOED.

Iri heads, instasaw, omegablink, old ruin, noed, ebony mori.

You’d get those builds so much. They don’t care how they win so long as they win.

And that. Ladies and gentlemen couldn't have been said any better... as a killer main myself, I refuse to play that way. I hold myself to a higher standard. Do I miss out on kills, of course I do. My rank doesn't get very high either, but I'm ok with that. I try to give survivors a challenging, solid match..

  • They shouldn't have changed it to begin with. It was fine in its original state.

  • Killers that play with skill, and not shady tactics....the ones that play a solid match whether they win or lose.

  • No. It's just shady gameplay.

  • So now we have a killer whining about being denied hatch close points.... wow.... ok then, what about killers tunneling and . mori'ing survivors after the first hook denying them points. Leaving is what they're supposed to do.. exits are opened, no one is hooked, I'm out..

  • @TR_stonez said:

Or something that killers do is eat it to get it over with. That's what I do as killer but I dont play killer seriously though so I cant say much

Same. It's 5 seconds. Take the stun, and move on. Odds are pretty good that you'll find them again during the match..

  • @hocrux said:

Hate to say it but slugging is a relevant tactic so it might be best to start running unbreakable, i've never used it before but i'm considering running it.

Sadly, it's a one time use. It should be unlimited as often as survivors get slugged. I know no mither is unlimited, but it leaves you vulnerable.

    Entitled people gonna remain entitled.

Let them wiggle off. Chase them to an area where there are hooks and down them then hook them...... ta da...

  • It's that players right to do so if they wish. Leave it alone..

You lost me there. How exactly is another player making you dc? Really? I'd like to know how the killer "makes" you dc. Sweat much?

I agree no one can make someone DC. It's their choice. Survivors aren't asking killers to follow some imaginary rulebook. They just want honest matches against solid killers that played them fair with skill. Matches that win or lose, live or die, you had fun. When I'm playing survivor ( I play both roles ), if I get a solid killer, and I'm alive at endgame. 90% of the time, I'm giving you a free kill, because you have earned my respect as a player.

  • @meatisadelicacy said:

Survivor main who has been abandoned by teammates more times than I can count, who has had a very good amount of killers dc too and lost who knows how many bloodpoints because of it.

This sucks. Two games in already and it's every toxic behavior that makes survivors dc. First game, a teammate dc'ed as soon as he was downed, about 30 seconds into the game. Meh, it happens. It's still possible to play the game and have fun, even if we survivors are at a huge disadvantage and ultimately don't escape. What's not fun? That killer decided to camp the next person they down, and then slug all three of us. I spent about 3:30 bleeding out on the ground, and was the last to die on my first hook. FUN AND INTERACTIVE.

Second game, a facecamping Bubba. Shocking. I saw what he was doing, knew I couldn't do anything about it, and tried to get as many gens done as possible. One teammate finally went for the save, got downed and then slugged, and then the put the first person right back on the hook. Then he facecamped the person who had the save. Two of us made it out that time.

I'd rather be in a game with a person who might dc or even in a game after a person does in fact dc than have killers gleefully play the most toxic way they can now. As for all the killers who dc, it made me laugh even though I lost out on BP. If this is how killers are playing now, I will be done after this tome. It's not about being salty, it's about being bored. I want to play the game. Facecamping and slugging is not playing the game, especially as a solo survivor.

I hope the penalty is going better for everyone else.

Third game: I was the first one downed, the killer came straight back and ignored the teammate who unhooked me to tunnel me. Decided to see what the penalty was for one DC. Five minutes, for anyone wondering. I'm done playing DBD now. I should have known the tunnel was coming. It's the toxic killer trifecta, after all.

I played last night for the first time this week. First match was a proxy camping, tunneling freddy. Completely ignoring the person doing the saving. I was the 2nd victim. The first one dc'd. ( Wish I would have ), because those kind of matches aren't fun, and the game is meant to be fun. ( It's a video game, hello!!! ) DC penalty is crap in my opinion. My conclusion from last night is that killers are going to be bigger a-holes now, because they know that survivors are forced to tolerate shady gameplay, or be put in "time out." When you play to relax and have fun you don't want to have to deal with that. So, no it's not just you...

If your friend is new to the game, and you are a high rank player, you shouldnt be surprised you are getting good killers.

Which is probably why they threw in the "swf matching should be reverted " comment, and I agree. The killers level should be based on the lowest level in the group. That's the way it once was I believe, and it was nice, because it gave new players a chance to learn the mechanics of the game while actually playing the game, instead of being killed in the early stages of the match..

The fact that it had to be turned into an "anti-tunneling" perk sounds like a killer problem, not a survivor. If a killer is tunneling me, that is preventing me from progressing into the match. Therefor, I should be able to escape. It's a once-per-match freebee. Like I said, it doesn't guarantee anything other than more time.

Sad thing is, most of your killers ( especially the serious ones ) don't care about your match progression, or fun, ect. They're self- absorbed, and only play for their own fun.

I don't mind dying to save another. I usually have a good amount of BP when end game hits. As for the wife part, mine will go for the save 99% of the time, but there have been a couple of " I love you, but I'm out " moments..

It just makes my blood boil. On the weekend I was on Temple of Purgation. Killer was Ghostface. On my very first hook I see a Claudette just creeping around the perimeter of the map, an injured Nea is in a chase with GF about 50 or so metres away, and an injured Jake is coming my direction.

Here’s the kicker. Nea goes down, Jake decides to turn around despite being within 10m of me, runs towards the downed Nea. No flashlight. No firecracker. Injured. He goes down as Nea is being carried to a hook. Claudette is still just creeping around the edge of the map.

My first hook. I just suicided.

That's a hard pill to swallow..

You do need to consider that everyone knew that was a test for a predefined timeframe..

As for your second point, personally I don't like it because it fails to distinguish a player disconnecting from an actual toxic game compared to someone ragequitting. I played several games today and I was tunneled immediately at 5 gens off my first hook. Not running DS cause I don't want to rely on it, and there is literally nothing I can do when I'm just trying to get wglf stacks. What should I have done as the killer was literally just going straight for me despite going to the other side of the map and immediately coming back and ignore the person who unhooked. I would dc penalty or not as that's just not fun and frankly a lot of killers enjoy doing that which says a lot about the state of the game.

Some people get their happiness from other people's misery..

1 … 3 4 5 6
