I think it stems from guys like the OP. He obviously plays this game to be a griefer. He enjoys ruining other's enjoyment of things and wants them to get upset. There are a lot of survivors and killers that are like that. Unfortunately, BHVR does nothing to dissuade that type of behavior and in some ways encourages it.
Though I despise DCs, and 90% of them were sensitive survivors, there were some who were just tired of being camped or tunneled. THose guys have no choice now.
Agreed. Now they are almost forced to have to tolerate such shady game play, or be put in " time out ".... kind of a catch 22.. it's almost literally damned if you do. Damned if you don't....

For you maybe. The player on the other end is being robbed of the chance to play, get points, and enjoy the game..

I don't run meta perks as often anymore. I used them religiously at one time, and realized that I was getting dependent on them. Spine chill, and urban evasion for example on survivor. ( early detection, quick getaway ). I was getting reliant on spine chill to activate, instead of watching my surroundings. bbq and chili, nurses calling on killer. ( aura-reading for easier tracking ), thus taking away some of the thrill and challenge of using eyes and ears to find survivors. It's my belief that running different builds is a good way to truly challenge yourself, and test your skills..

I don't run meta perks on either survivor or killer. I run whatever I feel like running, depending on which killer I using and how I want to play. As survivor, it depends entirely on who I am playing with, what perks I have available for that character, how many and who is in the chat group, how I feel like playing that night. It helps keep the game interesting for me. Sometimes I will just use 4 random perks see how it goes π€·π»ββοΈ

fix ranks then balance, the ranks are a mess atm i just slugged and killed 4 ranks 2`s as a perkless and addonless clown on blood lodge
4k.... nice.. but you slugged. To many killers don't challenge themselves, or their skill by playing a solid, legit match. You may, or may not do as well, but at least played them clean.. I'm not bashing your play style, because everyone plays differently. I like to see killers ( myself included ) work hard and earn their kills.. I find it more rewarding personally...

I sure as hell would. I loved the perk on killer cause it's a nice time waster and on survivor it teachs me to be more mobile and stealthy. It was a great perk and they..."ruined" it π
Agreed. It had a punitive effect on skill checks, which did slow the game slightly. Not everyone is A1 killer, so as long as the totem last, it was kinda helpful..
-
NOED is easily countered by taking out totems. I'm rank 4 survivor btw. As your walking around the map, take out every totem you see. That will eliminate NOED. The only change I would make to NOED would be to put it back the way it was in the beginning where only tier 3 was instadown.

I stopped caring about bt and ds since ruin change, if they unhook on front of me I'll go for the unhooked person if they got ds I'll tunnel them into the ground.
Why go after the unhooked survivor? They were most likely an innocent victim of the savers stupidity.

It's not selfish to try to get 4K by slugging, and why should we care only about the survivor's fun?
I wasn't implying to only care about survivors fun. It should be fun everyone. A solid, honest, legit game.

So, first off I don't condone hate speech in anyway.
And while I understand that this game can bring out the worst in us, I don't think that hate speech directed towards my friend and I, who are both gay should be allowed.
We weren't even the ones he was mad at, but he read my username and IMMEDIATELY went on a long homophobic rant and I was just wondering if anything can be done.
My other friend clipped it and was going to use it as proof however the stranger had it to where his voice couldn't be recorded.
Please, can a developer get back to me on this? I can try and find some form of proof if I need to, I don't think people like this should be allowed into the community.
First of all. Kudos to you both for being who you are, and not what society expects you to be. 2nd, people like that are just #########. I hope you found a way to report them, and that they get what they deserve...

Honestly, I don't play nice even before the ruin change. I prefer to use slugging perks such as Knockout, Infectious fright, hex: The third seal, and deerstalker (due to broken sounds). I occasionally use NOED as well.
For Huntress I use Corrupt Intervention, Nurse's Calling, Iron Maiden, Shadowborn, Thrilling Tremors, and BBQ and Chilli. Iridescent Heads are used every 1/5 matches along with Infantry Belts.
Being slugged sucks for survivors, and isn't fun, and unbreakable is a one time use to counter it. Your comment tells me that you're probably one of those self-absorbed players.

Not my squad. If we put up streamers, everybody's getting good points. There are times that the killer doesn't use their brain, and tries to end the match in 2 minutes denying everyone bp, and then there's the ones that are like " hell yeah, that's BP for my blood web "..

They were probably implemented to give survivors a strong loop that couldn't be destroyed even if teammates were super inefficient with pallets. But then they still put a ton of safe pallets on most maps. And there's probably a hesitancy to eliminate them because new or less experienced survivors need them. Bamboozle is all fine and well, but god windows only need 1 loop to gain a ton of distance.
That may be true, but other than nurse, and tier 1 Michael, a killers speed is faster than a survivor, and any distance they put between them can be quickly closed. Am I wrong?!?

@Nos37 said:
Regarding stealthy survivors being hindered at the start of the match, what if Survivors received a buff to interaction speed that was equivelant to the gen repair debuff speed?
Until the first survivor is found, survivors can Cleanse, Search, and Sabotage faster.
As a stealth main myself, I tend to avoid touching gens at the start anyway. I look for totems and chest near me, and keep an eye on a nearby gen waiting for the killer to see it at 0% and move on before I start repairing it.
Same here when playing survivor
-
I don't really care much about emblems, and pips, and ranks. I mainly focus on a solid, legit, fun match.. if I get kills ( great ), if I don't ( that's fine too ). I play to relax and enjoy.. however, I do find it difficult to apply pressure on the larger maps, and gens pop like crazy. The match is over in no time..

I have had my enjoyment of the game ruined enough times as killer that i really do not care what the game is like for them.
I am an adult and i play a mean killer who throws people on hooks and sometimes gets schooled by them.
If you dont want to be the mean bad ass killer then go and play mario cart, i guess. Better yet do a dance with the 4 survs at the exit gate for your 20 seconds of fun as they forget about you 5 seconds later.
I dont play to win. I play to kill.
First of all, Mario kart is fun. Second, I have danced with survivors at the exit gate, and that was fun too. Jake was the DJ. I also waved when they left. Third, how about you play your way and I'll play mine. Have a nice day.....

Yeah, we let him farm a bit cause he couldn't do anything, it was a horrible game, post game messages:
Killer: ######### is wrong with matchmaking
Me: We knew, don't worry
Killer: Thanks for going easy and not bringging toolboxes to rush
Me: No prob, gg
Killer: GG
That's a good spirited game. Both sides working together when you know one is at a disadvantage. That's a rarity. Hats off to y'all for noticing that, and lending a hand instead of just crushing them.

Turn end game chat off as killer. Save yourself the hassle of reading that crap. If you do well and 4k they wont say anything anyway or just insult you for not playing by their rule book.
No tunneling
No Slugging
Go after the unhooker
Go to the other side of the map when you hook
And on and on and on. IF you play by those rules you will lose. That is what they want and that is why they moan. Cos you did not play the way they want you to.
Actually, those are killer rules for myself when playing killer, because I hold myself to a certain standard. I don't camp, tunnel, slug, body block, take credit for a bad hit, ect. That may be what is holding me back as far as ranks go, but I'm fine with that. Some may say " you're not a true killer main, if you don't take it serious, and play to win ". It's not about winning or losing. It's about playing a solid, honest match that everyone enjoyed. My real life role of being an adult is the one that I take serious, not the role of killer in a video game.

Yeah. The best we can do as a community is be nice to others, and hopefully they reciprocate. That's the start of reducing toxicity that's so commonplace here.
Everyone's so stuck in playing a certain way that facilitates toxicity, and the more we can remove people from that the better.
I agree completely. I'm sure players like us are few, and far between, but at least we're out there.

I had a Ghostface stand at the top of the stairs of the basement as I ran up with the survivor I just unhooked and stared at his entire body and face as I ran up and somehow he still marked and instadowned me? I thought you could break him out of his power if you could see a certain percentage of him? It's happened on several occasions so I think the mechanics are messed up.
Seems like a proxy camping, stair blocking killer. I'm not surprised. A style of gameplay that I refuse to use. I have been on the receiving end of such a tactic, and it sucked. When revealing gf, I have the worst luck. I can be looking in the opposite direction, and reveal him, which gives away my location, which also sucks. I don't think that revealing him should give you away.

This, precisely. Collectively, us as veteran players, need to do this. We need to recognize when we're against newer players, and help them/give them tops, etc.
As for you personally, I would just keep trying. Practice makes perfect. You can watch good Youtubers/Streamers for tips. Ussylis, Ayrun, Puppers, Monto, ScottJund, Zubatlel, Umbra, and many more. Just keep in mind that losing is all part of the process.
Very well said. I have been playing since the game came to console ( ps4 ), which is what? 3 years now. Anyway, I have learned to watch a players actions, and be able to tell if they are experienced, or not. When playing survivor, and I see another survivor that seems new ( which is kinda rare at red ranks), but does happen time to time. i hope the killer notices it also, and shows a little compassion, and allows the survivor to see, and learn the mechanics of the game, instead of killing them in 2 minutes. If I notice the killer seems new, or is struggling, I myself will back off a bit and not blaze through the match. I'll give them a hit, and possibly a hook. They get a few points, as well as learn a little. When I'm playing killer, and see a survivor that appears to be inexperienced, I will try to coach them along. Take them to a totem, or a chest. Take them to a gen and let them practice skill checks. Leave them be, but find them, and check on them throughout the match. Sure it may cost me some points. Maybe a pip, or rank, but I'm ok with that. To me, other than personal achievement, pip's and ranks are temporary and meaningless. Your impression on someone is everlasting.
-
Killers may, or may not have 2nd chance perks ( depends on how you look at it ). A good, skilled killer doesn't need perks like some that have been mentioned, because before the gates are powered, or before they can be opened everyone is dead. ( for the record, that's not me ). I'm mediocre at best. Sure survivors have 2nd chance perks, but they also have exhaustion perks. Killers do not. Getting stunned is probably the only thing that hinders, or slows a killer down, and even that can be reduced. It's a give and take kind of deal..

Another problem for killers is when you rank up to green where you start to face red rank players and you want to start a new killer. Itβs a brutal experience because the matchmaking doesnβt care if you have 1 low level perk.
I love this game. But I just donβt know how itβs ever going to be polished like a gem.
Hell, I'm rank 14 killer, and get consistently matched up with purple rank survivors. There's the occasional red or green stuck in there at times. I'm up for a good challenge, but a lot of times I get crushed. Gens pop like crazy, and before I know it the match is over, and I'm left with very few points. It's teaching me to be a better killer, but it can be frustrating.

Ok and then what? I derank, sooo now I cant play anymore right?
Or now I just lost like DLC I bought, or cosmetics or something?
Orrr I just de-ranked, and ill probably get that back next match, or not, or maybe it will get worse.... what does it matter at all?
Rank does nothing for you but HOPEFULLY pair you up with similairly skilled players, that is the same for every game, a derank here or a rank up there should not matter for your experience in the slightest.
Now if you had the risk of being Rank 1 and a single facecamp killer brought you dont to rank 20, then sure, THEN we had something to talk about, but now...no, no we dont.
Lets not forget how pointless/meaningless the ranks are right now, so in the worst case....nothign will change from how the game plays atm....
Agreed. Ranks are just numbers, and yet people take so much pride in them as if they are beneficial in real life or something. I have been rank 20. I have been rank 1, and everything inbetween. I'm the same player that I have always been, just more experienced now. Don't worry about numbers, and just enjoy the game the best you can. Change is inevitable, and it's not always for the best. We just have to see where the pieces fall, and try to adapt as we have always done..
-
Always expect a hex, and cleanse every totem you see. Sure it takes times away from doing gens, but if your team knows what they're doing you can get it all done..
-
@hex_genrush said:
matchmaking is horrible
Agreed. I'm rank 4 survivor, and 14 killer at the moment. When playing killer, I am going against purple ranks consistently, with a green or red here and there. Matches are over quickly, and I am left with very few points. Not for lack of trying. I'm not horrible at killer, but I'm not great either. It just makes it difficult to enjoy it..

@GhostofYharnam said:
Pigs i think ive gone against 2 who dont tunnel the trapped person into the dirt.
I've never understood that. The survivor is already at a disadvantage. Some killers see them as an easy target I guess. To me, that's preying on the weak, and preying on the weak shows your own weakness..
-
I don't think there is a right, or wrong answer to that. I personally don't tunnel. I try to give all players an equal opportunity to play, and enjoy the match. I try to hook every survivor once as quick as possible. That gives them a chance to get points by unhooking, healing, ect. After that, they're fair game, and when I find them / I find them.
-
NOED - like someone stated earlier. The killer can have a horrible game for the entire match, and turn it around at the end ,and get kills that they otherwise wouldn't have gotten. It makes up for a killers lack of skill to do well in the early stages of the match. I know it's easily countered by destroying totems, but not all totems are destroyed all the time.
Slippery Meat- because unless you have a rabbit's foot, a four leaf clover, and a horseshoe, you're not getting off that hook no matter how many times you try.....

Agreed. Just because they're considered to be " legit tactics ", doesn't mean you have to use them. I'd rather get 2 kills by skillfully outplaying my opponent, than to cheese my way to a 4 kill..
