I love your chapter idea. Everything from the story down to the perks. Great job.

This is really interesting.

For Survivor or killer?
Survivor
-
I think this would cause more problems as others have stated toxicity is an issue. I feel it would be better to have a chat wheel with multiple phrases that the survivor themselves ( not the person who is playing the survivor) can speak to other survivors.

He's talking about a ping system where you can use the pre-determined lines. Like in Apex, you can ping "Flatline here", "Body shield here, level one", "Shooting!", "I'm being shoot!". In Dead by Daylight, we could have some lines like "generator here", "something here", "Killer is with me", "I'm being chased", "med-kit here", "key here", "hatch here".
I approve this idea, we need better ways to communicate.
Can I be honest here? The way the game is going, I doubt they will implement something like this. The team behind DBD looks like a total mess recently.
I dont think we should have a ping service. I don't really see the point as a system like that. I just mean we should have a sort of chat wheel where the characters literally talk. For example saying "help me with the generator" or "can you heal me?"
Thank you for explaining the ping system though. And honestly I don't really have hope they will implement it in the near future. All I could do is hope.

No, no and just no. Things like that are one of those reasons why games like F13 died.
Why no?

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is exactly what im talking about. They should implement this for solo. Although I probably wouldn't put things like the killer has Enduring or the trap is here. This would be overpowered.

"To give the survivors the ability to talk would massively help elevate the ambiguity and confusion between survivors. And this is very possible because each survivor would have different voice actors already. And it won't always be a benefit to survivors there could be a range in which thr killer can hear them communicating."
Unless you are talking about some kind of text to speech system or a voice command subwheel, you're describing proximity chat. And if you Do mean the former, again, you want to be able to convey information in a game that was designed around not being able to convey information. Half the design of solo queue survivor was supposed to be around whether to be altruistic or work on saving your own ass, that survivors were a shaky alliance against a common foe rather than some kind of best friends squad. Even balance aside, have you even played vs in games like L4D? survivors spamming voice commands was more common than zombies slain.
Imagine not reading what a person is saying fully and pulling things out of thin air.
There was literally nothing in what I wrote earlier in order to indicate that I wanted proximity chat. To further prove this I said "And this is very possible because each survivor would have different voice actors" what part of this makes it seem like I want the players themselves talking?

You want proximity chat, which is awful and has been discussed to death for years on this forum, especially considering its something a competing game did and provided great evidence to why it would be an awful fit in DBD.
I was trying to give you the reasonable accomidation that you already have the ability to coordinate to a degree during the prep time that you have before a match, since survivors are NOT locked into their builds (or even characters) until the last few seconds of the countdown.
There have been countless discussions about why things like proximity chat are awful for the game. Even SWF being able to communicate messes with the balance in a way that, years later, the devs refuse to acknowledge is as bad as it is. They think OoO isn't broken because "the person with it usually dies."
Also, in case you want a mockup of how badly proximity chat can go, I never mind posting zimbabwe bubba:
READ MY POST. I CANNOT for the life of me tell if you're doing this purpose. I NEVER SAID I WANT PROXIMITY CHAT. I know how terrible proximity chat would be for the game, this is not what im arguing however.

No I'm illiterate.
But to reiterate, I don't want any way to listen to my toxic teammates. It's not necessary and I don't want to hear them either spamming lines from their voice actors or any in-game communications. I was actually talking to a friend who doesn't play DBD. He doesn't like a lot of multiplayer games because of how toxic people can be. I told him DBD didn't have any communication between teammates in game, and it was one of the things I liked about it.
Was that more helpful?
Well if a person is spamming lines then obviously you are not doing something that would be the most beneficial to the team. The purpose of this isn’t to spam lies its to make communication better. Just because some people can abuse it in a bad way doesn't mean overall its not beneficial. And if that doesn't satisfy you then it can be on a 5 or 10 second cooldown before you say a line.
Is this helpful?

or before it, when you have 60+ seconds to adjust your loadout while the killer can't even change what killer they've picked.
This is not what im talking about. Please read what I wrote before you commit.

@Ryuhi said:
"P.s I don't mean in game voice chat"
There is literally have game lobby chat for that.
Not only that, but survivors are supposed to have ZERO communication at all. The fact that people are able to circumvent that is the anomaly, not the norm.
That is for after the match not during it.
-
@meatisadelicacy said:
Yeah I like that I don't have any way to listen to my toxic teammates. It's bad enough they are willing to send me a message after the game to let me know I didn't do what they wanted or that they told the killer where I was after they died.
@Zaytex said:
-Communication would just add a way to be verbally toxic and nasty.
-Giving comms to survivor's is a hard buff and would mean the Killer role becomes even more miserable to play as efficiency among survivor's is even easier to achieve and no longer requires aura perks, etc.
Hard no for me.
Did you read what I wrote at all? I am not talking about in game voice chat. Of course that would be terrible to killers. I'm talking about a communication wheel in which the survivors THEMSELVES communicated small short sentences in order to work together better. This is not a big buff to survivors because doing so could also revel your position to the killer.
Please actually READ what I post before you commit thank you.

I feel like the pointing and come here animations are enough. What would be great would be 3rd animation, a sound notification that lets the survivor know you want their attention. Then follow up with come here or point
I disagree. Those are not enough as it leaves so much up to interpretation. Take pointing for example. When I point at something what are you going to assume from it? considering I'm not really close to what I'm pointing to you could assume I mean to do the generator or go save them, or go to the door or go to hatch, if your teammates makes the wrong decision I could potentially lose you the game and mess up everything. Pointing is just not enough.

@RocketPenguin said:
Like pings? Like from apex.
This gen is #%, or im being chased. and all you do is middle click it
I don't know what that is. I don't play apex. I mean like something in white noise 2 if you have played it.
-
@DoctorDarling said:
Nope. That's a hard no from me. People get so... "passionate" shall we say, in this game it would foster so much trash talk and toxicity and rude criticism. It would be a large majority awful as your teammates tell you that you're trash for getting caught or not being on a gen or doing a bad hook save or whatever. Especially given the matchmaking often putting rank 18-20 with red ranks, I think the negatives would extremely weigh out the positives.
I would turn it off, or if you couldn't turn it off, I would literally stop playing solo queue. People act like garbage behind the anonymity of the internet, ESPECIALLY when it comes to competitive games. And even moreso in team-based games.
This is assuming you mean voice chat etc. If there were a couple more useful/objective-related emotes that might be cool.
Thank You for bringing this to my attention. I wasn't taking about a ingame voice chat. Have you ever played white noise 2. I ment a communication systems like that.
-
Wouldn't basement trapping be way to powerful without the ability to dead hard through it? Basement trapping can greatly shift the balance of power if the survivors fall for it. And sure enough they do.
-
I would be all for it
-
I understand that it can be annoying but in my opinion DS is not a good anti tunnel perk. The fact that I could use DS on a tunneling killer and literally the second after the stun is over they can still follow my trail to down proves this.

@TheButcher said:
Onto you? Wait you get games where survivors blame each other, or themselves, and not the Killer? This is mind blowing news. Can I play with you?
I don't really see the point of blaming the killer if the killer did nothing wrong and just play the game. Its the survivors fault not the killer for capitalizing on the survivors mistakes.
-
This could be really cool if survivors also get emotes as well. To be honest I'm surprised they didn't try and do this sooner considering from a monetary perspective this would make them some money.
-
I would say my favorite is purple rank. Its just right that I get good killers and good survivors. Green rank killers are full of tunnelers, and green rank survivors most of the time don't know what they are doing. Red rank killers are intense to play against and red rank survivors are "skillful" but can be selfish and sometimes act more stupid then the green rank.
-
I would be fine with this but I would probably add to make them slower after every survivor they hit.
-
Usually when I want a fun build I would use a randomizer. I hope that helps.

But they could add that too yes
Is it really that helpful? Whenever I use it it doesn't seem to make an impact.
Also I like the idea

Well, he is both Anit-Stealth and Anti-Loop. I personally don't find him that irritating, but I do understand how a lot of people despise how easy it is for a doctor to find you.
And people are always going to hate Anti-Loop killers.
Why do people hate anti loop killers. Sure it can be fun but its also fun to change things up everyone in a while. Thats why whenever I play against a nurse I always have fun because I can't use conventional methods to go against her.
-
For me I think he is fine, but what makes him annoying is his lunge looks weird and it has me wondering at times how his hits connect.
-
To be honest I don't think there is a point arguing about DS at all on the forum. The killers on this forum will disregard anything that isn't a complete nerf to DS. I wouldn't be surprised if someone read your post and make some idiotic strawman to cancel out what you actually wrote. I have seen it and experienced it.
-
He is fine for most part. He is really annoying though and on indoor maps he is a nightmare to play against.
-
I would love for there to be hook indicators. That way you can see how many hooks everyone has left instead of keeping track.
-
Can't they make it so that you slightly control victor while he is on the survivor. Similar to the jockey from left 4 dead

I have a few killer and survivor perks ideas
Level Headed
You are able to keep a calm mind even in dire situations
When you are in the dying state, your aura will not be show to the killer under any circumstances and grunts of pain while in the dying state is reduced by 100%.
You bleed out 50% less blood
Back on track
After being side tracked your able to effectively get back to the task at hand
Generators that are regressing will be show to you in a red aura, until it has stopped regressing
Stopping the regression and repairing the generator you have a 10% increase in repair speed for 5 seconds
Back on track has a cooldown of 30 seconds
For Others
Your able to sacrifice yourself for the survival of your friends
Once the exit gates are powered you become the obsession and your aura is show to the killer indefinitely.
All other survivors that are still in the trial will leave no blood trail or scratch marks, and aura will not be show to the killer
If you are killed, hooked or sacrificed the perks effects are disabled.
Decreases your odds of becoming the obsession
And the killer perks
Alone
You become obsessed with one survivor
Anytime the obsesion performs a cooperative action the obsession suffer from the exposed status effect for 50 seconds
Alone has a cooldown of 45 seconds after downing the obsession
You can only be obsessed with one survivor at a time
In The Dark
A successful kill hides your dreadful presence for the next hunt.
When a survivor is killed or sacrificed you gain the undetectable status effect until you start a chase with another survivor.
Onlooker
After kicking a generator, any survivor within 15 meters of the kicked generator will revel their aura for as long as they are in the range generator.
Onlooker has a cooldown of 25 seconds
-
@Nameless said:
I don't know I'm too fond of the long cooldown on Oppression and while the effect of Coup de Gras is insanely strong, it can only be used a total of 5 times. I don't think they're going to shake the meta too much, especially with perks like Ruin and Undying being a part of the killer meta. The survivors got some fun little perks but also nothing too amazing.
Well for a strong effect a long cooldown is needed. Also for coup does the tokens stack?
-
@Boss said:
Nevermind, all Coup-whatever does is increase the distance, not the speed.
So the lunge can take up to about twice as long.
I don't need that for Wraith's super-lunges.
Well distance is still strong right?
And after thinking about it, it does counter Dead Hard.
-
@chieften333 said:
As nice as the map reworks are, will those two ever get realms of their own?
If not will they ever get a sub realm, like twins could get an ormond sub realm, and blight could a crotus Penn sub realm.
They would probably get sub realms. Like the blight could get the asylum but covered in blight serum like in the menu.
-
@KaarelK said:
That lunge perk is stupid, it's already broken.
Dead hard is nerfed with the last update !? I just started to use it again and it's not working like it was.
This new perk just gives more 1 hook kills for killers
Wait Dead hard was nerfed?
-
@ohheyitsbobcat said:
I see Coup only working with someone like Plague and maybe Myers due to the on command instadown. Only having 5 uses doesn't seem all that great at first glace but time will tell there. I think each gen giving two tokens would be fine.
Oppression seems like it could pair nice with Surveillance and Pop or maybe Surge to have massive gen regression all at once. That said I think Ruin/Undying is still the stronger choice overall. Some combo of Oppression/Surveillance/Surge/Pop could work on some killers though. Not a bad perk at all but I don't think it'll be meta changing from first glance.
Meme build but I think Plunderer's and Appraisal for an almost guaranteed key is pretty neat. Could work well in both solo and a group for those gen standoff situations which can happen a lot.
Deception seems cool and Power Struggle seems eh.
Hoarder I think will see some use but nothing meta wise.
Just my initial thoughts that are likely to change.
I agree with what your saying
I feel deception could be really fun with diversion and red Herring.
-
@UMCorian said:
I'm in the same boat as Nick. I honestly didn't find a single one of them eye opening.
I'm not saying they outright suck, but I see nothing in them that would shake up the meta... the meta perks for killer aren't so much fun to run, as just nessecary in order to even have a chance against strong teams.
Well Either way any change to survivor and killer meta seems beneficial for everyone.

Oppression and surveillance works.
Did you try with PGTW or overcharge?
-
@Nick said:
Really? They seem quite weak to me. You only have 4 perk slots and it doesn't look like they'll do crazy damage like meta perks now
They seem like they could be powerful
Oppression combined with PGTW, overcharge or surveillance could be strong if it works.
-
Since we're talking about meta what about the new killer meta
Oppression and Pop goes the weasel could be major.
Or Oppression and overcharge?
Or oppression and surveillance?
-
What is the incapacitated status effect?

I just don’t think it would be an enjoyable mechanic for survivors. Imagine if there were 2 survivors left and one is being chased whilst the other fixes the last gen. Instead of now being able to go and 99% a gate, they have to waste time trying to find the handle which also alerts the killer. In a scenario like this, just waiting for the other person to die and looking for the hatch would be the easier option. It would just promote unhealthy gameplay which we already have enough of. Also, imagine being the sole survivor and the killer closes the hatch. You may as well just give up. As you basically have zero chance of getting a gate open then. A change like this would make keys more popular than they already are and I don’t think anybody wants that lol.
If any change to objectives is to occur, it should be for early game. To stop survivors just spawning in on generators and it’ll also give slower killers chance to build momentum.
What’s your idea for early game?
Ok I see what you mean
My idea for early game would be generators located in specific areas of the map would be activated via a swich in which the survivors would have to turn on in order to start repairing the generator. The killer can turn off these switches at anytime in order to apply pressure easily.
-
@iZombie said:
I don’t agree with there being an extra objective once the exit gates are powered. Once that happens, you failed your job as a killer, which is to prevent survivors from repairing generators. I don’t think it’s fair to punish survivors for simply doing their objective.
However, I wouldn’t be against something for early game. Maybe all generators start locked and you have to find and press a button that unlocks them all for everybody else in the trial.
Once the exit gates are powered the killer has a new objective which is to prevent the survivors from escaping. And this mechanic isn't to punish survivors from doing their job. This is to ensure that the game is more tense for both sides and making it so that both sides still have a chance to win.
Also I do have a mechanic for early game if you wanna hear it?
-
Mettle of man seems fine. I like the concept of the perk as it actually requires you to do something for a strong effect to take hold.
Filp flop
Keep the same effect but just make it so that you also see the auras of hooks when in the dying states
Buckle Up
Keep the same effect but also add so that when you pick up the person off the ground you and the person you pick up gain a 5% haste status effect for 3 seconds.
-
Just make DS a better anti tunnel perk since its not a good one to begin with so the only way to use it best is offensely.
-
@Kaiju said:
I stopped using DS like 2 months ago and never looked back. Now i use OoO if i want to guaranteed an obsession

Except, the circumstances are different, which breaks your argument.
DS/UB/DH/BT has been around for years, and STILL has no counter.
Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer has existed as a build for *not even two months*, and HAVE counters, even as a combo, they have counters.
Different circumstances entirely. So no. Nobody has a right to complain. It's not broken, like the survivor counterpart.
Isn't another counter to the combo would be to get those perks out of the way early so you won't have to deal with them later in the game. If a person had unbreakable have them use it be slugging. If the person has DS then counter it by taking the stun and moving on. These perks can only be used once.
