  • I'm sorry but I don't see a problem. No one in this game is entitled to anything, not killers nor survivors. You are not an exception killers are not entitled to a 4k if you didn't find and kill the last survivor that is on you.

80 seconds is enough time to get at least 4 totems, if you've got a map.

But the requirements to be hooked first in order to get the effect is not good. A hook state is bad and by the time you have gotten hooked your aura has been showed already to the killer by undying.

And even so this doesn't mean that the Distortion doesn't need a buff. Preventing the aura reading is good but it only have very little limited uses which can be gone in an instant if its the killer has multiple aura reading perks and addons or undying, the secondary effect is also weak as I don't see a lot of practical uses for the perk.

It's not meant to make you immune to aura reading. It lets you find out what aura abilities the killer is using so you can counter them accordingly afterwards. Too many survivors have the philosophy that they should be immune from killers rather than adapt to them .

I can see your point but what about if the killer has multiple aura reading perks and addons that make it difficult to know what perks the killer has and adapt to it. Although now that you bring it up I feel a potentially better perk change would be to increase the perk tokens to 4 and when a token is consumed you see an icon of the perk that caused the icon to be consumed. Thats fair isn't it?

  • Yeah but I don't think it has good synergy with anything else that I know off. It don't need a buff.

I'm surprised I don't see the combo anymore.

  • @Hardkill said:

There's always Off the Record as well.

Off the record is not too good of a perk. It requires you to be unhooked in order for you to get the effect. Its also only for 80 Seconds which is not too good and since you can only be hooked twice meaning you only get 2 uses out of it. From this it doesn't seem like a good substitution.

The thing is that Unb + DS can be stacked four times and while it is unlikely that it will happen, people will often run DS without it. Usually, 3 DS users per game is what you should expect. There are also few times where you can just "get rid of it early on". The survivors still benefit from losing it. That is only if one person runs it and considering how most survivors do run it (it is not their fault tho, most perks are trash for them, same for killer) you are still going to have to suffer from its use. A killer jsut doesn't have the time to make the survivors use these perks most of the time, if they do then they were already doing great.

I see what you mean but another reason I would say they are comparable is because both create a losing situation. A killer with ruin and Undying can create a losing situation, either do the totem and have your position found or don't do the totem and have ruin effecting generators greatly if the killer is good at pressuring gens. Ergo a lose lose situation. Also ruin and Undying can be really oppressive on certain maps. Maps where totem spawns are excellent can make this combo too strong and the extra aura reading could be very detrimental to survivors, with this i feel its still comparable to DS and Unbreakable.

  • I would argue that both are comparable as both essentially are one use perks. Once both DS and unbreakable is used early in the match they cannot be used again meaning the best strategy is to have to survivors use the DS and Unbreakable as soon as possible then from there it should be easier. Essentially DS is not a good anti tunnel perk. Ruin and Undying are one use perks in a way. Once Undying is gone its gone and can't be gained again, the same thing with ruin once its gone (given that Undying is also gone) it gone for good. Both perks are strong combinations, both can be used once and once both are gone can massively shift the balance of power to the opposing side, these perks are comparable.

  • As TAG said before players are entitled to play strong builds to maximize their chances of winning.

  • @Yords said:

Unless you are going for the full-on meta builds for survivors I would rate it 3/5 as is.

The only perks that are questionable are pharmacy and visionary.

Pharmacy could be replaced with bond, empathy, kindred, or even plunderers.

Visionary is not great if you can memorize gen locations and it is only decently useful if you are on an indoor map. Visionary could be replaced with better together or some other perk of your choice that helps your team.

Of course, this is all up to how good you are in a chase, and from what you say I assume you are not bad.

I'm trying not to take a lot of meta perks which is why I limited myself to just one, dead hard. After everyone else suggesting I think I might switch Pharmacy for something else. I kept visionary because I like the perk in indoor maps and I have not memorized all of the gen spawn locations. Visionary helps with that.

  • @Exerlin said:

Dead Hard is a good help in chases, and it is one of the best perks imo

Pharmacy has one job and does it well. I do not think it is exceptionally helpful in the match, but adding more green medkits to your stockpile is always nice. I prefer appraisal over pharmacy when I am not farming for medkits because it allows me to have a lot more items in one match. And since you only get one heal out of pharmacy, it's rare that you won't get similar value out of Appraisal.

Visionary is simply a bad perk that is only somewhat useful in indoor maps. I highly suggest you use Detective's Hunch instead as that would give you great aura reading for gens, totems, and chests (synergizing with pharmacy in a small way)

Urban Evasion is great to have against a select few killers and decent otherwise. While it's not my cup of tea, it absolutely has its uses if you know how to use it.

Thanks for your suggestions, I might test out appraisal out for pharmacy and see if it makes a bigger impact if not I will probably go with blood pact or inner strenght. I will use see if I find Detectives hunch better but what keeps me a way from it are those rare cases in which I'm not near a generator and I have to take time to find one where Detectives hunch activates when another gen is completed, I would rather just head strenght to thr generator with visionary but again I will test it out.

  • @TicTac said:

I like inner strenght more than pharmacy. Pharmacy heals you only one time.

I played with urban evasion at the beginning, but it is not really good bc you shouldnt crouch that much. But when you want to play stealthy, take it. But urban evasion is a better combo with sprintboost then with Dead hard.

You seem to be a beginner and Dead hard is not easy to use. Sprintboost gives you more benefits on a beginner level and it is good for experienced player too.

Visionary is a good starter perk to find gens, but i would prefer Deja vu. It shows you gens and helps against creating a 3gen.

Finding gens is nice, but i think its better to learn where pallets and windows are. Windows of oppurtunity is really useful for beginner.

Thank you for your suggestions but I'm not a beginner, it may seem like because of my perks. I chose dead hard because im pretty decent in chases and I'm getting better compared to my former self. I hate sprint burst because its not helpful to me as I hate walking more than crouching. I like visionary because it really helps on indoor maps as well as i like seeing the gens near me but when I definitely memorize all of the spawns then I will definitely switch it out. I don't wanna use deja vu because again I'm not a beginner so I know when not to create a 3 gen. I will use your suggestions and switch pharmacy for inner strenght or blood pact.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Visionary should be replaced once you know general generator spots and urban evasion teaches bad habits so I’d take it off personally

I have been using urban evasion and it really helpful. I'm not going to be the useless claudette urban evading in a corner. I know better

  • I think I'm fine with him being the same, the only think I hate about him is dream snares and pallets, he can just through them down all willy nilly without any time or slowdown, you can't even crouch over them. And dream pallets are also annoying if you injured, you can't do any against it as pallets are useless if he has it. And although you have to be asleep to be effective your asleep most of the time during thr game and getting hit automatically puts you asleep making these problems more apparent.

  • I have never had this problem.ehen 3ver i look at autohaven I think the brightness is fine. Is it my TV or a matter of perspective?

As I said, if you buff it, you will fix it for Undying only. And for the VERY RARE games where the killer runs multiple aura reading perks. Games with 0 aura readinds are more common than 3+. Buff Distortion and you get aura immunity against the more common games where the killer only runs BBQ or only runs Nurses.

Just roughly calculate. The most games have like 9 hooks and the first kill is about hook number 6 or 7. Subtract the up-to-2 hooks when you get hooked and obviously are within 40m of the hook. So 5-6 Distortion stacks would already be enough to completely counter BBQ aura reading. And how many times do you heal within 28m of the killer? 3 stacks is already enough to completely counter Bitter Murmur, because you don't sit on every gen that gets completed.

You are also forgetting about addons that show survivors aura which there are a multitude of them that could completely shread through the tokens. There is also the issue of the secondary effect not being useful. 10 seconds of scratch marks is not impactful enough to get use out of it since most of the time a token is consumed your not near the killer to not leave scratch marks. Its also won't be to useful when injured since the killer can follow blood and use grunts to detect you.

A good change to the perk without making it overpowered would be to increase the tokens by 1 more (whats the harm in one more token as you demonstrated above that 4 would not be impactful) or make its secondary effect more useful like increasing the time your aura is not shown to 15 seconds and you won't leave scratch marks for that time, or keep the time the same and also include no blood as well as the scratch marks.

I'm pretty sure there is no bug. The aura reveal only triggers when you get into totem range (2m). You are not revealed for the entire time you stay there. If you lost 2 stacks on one totem, you left the range and got back in again. I can confirm that I only lost one stack for cleansing a totem. The only other possibility would be that he had Hex: Retribution as well, to consume the stack after a hex cleanse.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1812609#Comment_1812609

No. a single perk should not be the reason to buff Distorion beyond horizon and therefore rip all other possible aura reading setups. In addition: Distortion is not meant to give you aura immunity. Just for a limited time. Most of all, it gives you information. Also when you never lose a stack the entire match. Like "killer has no BBQ, no nurses, no Undying..." And after getting this info, you get the possibility to outplay the perks you know about. Or allows you to not waste time in lockers to counter a non existent BBQ

I was being hyperbolic but I still think it needs a buff as a killer using multiple aura reading perks and addons can completely take your tokens away, what if you wanna use the perks effects later on? And even if its a full aura immunity (which is not something I want) the effect once a token has been used is lack luster as 10 seconds of no scratch marks is ok but not too impactful, especially if your injured. It a great information perk and great in swf but experienced survivors would use the killers actions in order to know if they have that aura reading perk, no need for distortion all the time, with this i feel distortion needs a buff.

  • For this reason its why distortion is in desperate need of a buff. It won't stand a chance against perks like undying and other aura reading perks and addons.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

That would be a fair, legitimate downside. That way anyone using an Exhaustion perk in conjunction with Iron Will still has a period they can be tracked via audio until their Exhaustion recovers.

Perhaps if it also prevented fast vaults until recovered too?

That would defeat the purpose of exhaustion perks since they are mainly used in chases. Making it slower to vault after using would make chases end way too quickly in my opinion. There has to be better downsides like making breathing more audible after its been used or something else.

    (P.s complaining)

  • What do you think would happen if the roles were reverse? Like if keys were changed first and then moris?

  • Obsessed seems overpowered and unessacary. The killer has a lot of tracking tools and abilities that make it easier to find survivors that get away like scratch marks, sounds notifications, and blood trails if injured. It also could be really bad for people who tunnel as the killer could just use the aura reading to find and tunnel the survivor easier which is not good at all.

Little pig could be extremely overpowered on killers that rely on survivors to be injured to get the most out of their ability. Killers like oni could get way too much use out of the perk since in the right hands he would just always be in his demon mode non stop.

All in all everything seems fine except the perks.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1811409#Comment_1811409

But it's not the player that screws up the hook trade. It's almost always the game. Why would you hit the hooked person when someone is unhooking them? And when it's not that, it's the game taking away your grab because it favors the survivor's connection.

    @MythMage said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1811694#Comment_1811694

It doesn't just favor survivor connection. It just favors survivors period. I pray they never put another grab challenge in the archives again, because grabs are actually impossible. Locker jukes are also OP because you just can't grab them, buying a guaranteed 7 extra seconds of time wasted

Are you serious? What about the unfair hits that survivors gets from killers? How is that favoring survivors?

  • The problem with this perk is that the reward is not good enough. I'm fine with the healing aspect though. So just lower the time your broken for after is active. Instead of 30 seconds it could just be 15 seconds.

  • I would say just completely rework both perks

    Monstrous shrine.

You become obsessed with one survivor. Hitting survivors with you basic attack you gain a token up to a max of 10/9/8 tokens. Once you have received all tokens the next time you hook your obsession in the basement they will insistently goes on to the next stage of the hook process.

Once the obsession has been hooked you lose all tokens. If the obsession is killed you lose all your tokens and the you can't gain anymore.

You can only be obsessed with one survivor at a time

    Vigil

You look over yourself even in dire situations.

You start the trial off with 5 tokens. The next time you escape a chase with the killer a token is consumed and any status you suffer from you automatically recover from. Vigil is deactivated once all 5 tokens are consumed.

These might seem like really strong changes but I feel that these changes benefit those who have skill. If your good at getting hits then great but if not its not going to benefit you too much. If your good at chases then great if not then you can't get too much use out of it.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

Well, its not bad, but its not good neither. There is basically no synergy between your perks, which is not necessarily bad, but having at least one synergy is preferable in my opinion. Calm Spirit is rather situational, unless you are going against a doctor or a heavy snowballing killer with infectious fright you wont get a ton of value out of it.

    @NoOneKnowsNova said:

Prove Thyself and Dead Hard are two great perks.

Blood Pact is good if the survivor you're playing with is coordinated, due to this I prefer bond or empathy.

Calm Spirit is mostly useless unless you happen to face Clown, Doctor, or a killer with Infectious Fright. Personally I'd replace this for Iron Will which is much better.

    @Greatamygdala said:

2/10 but if you like it more power to you.

Calm spirit for iron will for most situations, Blood pact for bond to bank on Prove thyself more and not drag the killer to generators getting worked on.

Thanks for the suggestions i chose these perks because I wanted a build that helps in multiple roles. Prove Thyself for gens, dead hard for chases, blood pact to heal myself and others and calm spirt to be stealthy. Would you recommend any more changes?

  • @Terro said:

I'm just going to copy and paste this here: Even if hit validation worked as intended you'll still be seeing hits like that. Even if you had hit validation be fully survivor sided you'll still see bs hits (it'll be much rarer but across all players you'll get a bunch of juicy clips) or teleporting killers. There's no way to get rid of latency in an online game. It doesn't matter whose the one lagging or nobody is lagging. You'll still see something different from what the server sees, the killer sees and vice versa.

If there is now way to get rid of latency in games doesn't that mean that the best solution would be to reduce the amount of latency as much as possible? If other online games have reduced latency then this one should as well.

  • @Hoodied said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1808885#Comment_1808885

@Orion mentioned one way of fixing this, the other way is something to do with the server depicting where the survivors and killers are at, CoD servers use it to prevent whoever you are shooting at to randomly walk directly in a straight line, teleport backwards, and etc.

However take it with a grain of salt, I know more about balancing than servers here

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1808884#Comment_1808884

Hit Validation is where the server depicts if a hit actually connected, instead of the killers hit depicting if it landed, however just like I told @dspaceman20 I am better with game balancing than server stuff so I recommend taking it with a grain of salt, thats why I just copy and pasted what other people said on other threads

I guess one good thing about this is that I don't get hit through windows.

  • @Hoodied said:

Ugh, I'll repeat what I keep seeing

Hit Validation doesn't fix latency, Latency is changed through a difficult method that I honestly cannot explain without having it make more questions

Even if its latency how is hits like that fair at all? I know it shouldn't be possible to completely remove latency (at least to my knowledge) but they should try and keep it to a minimum.

  • Yeah I thought that was weird. why did they do that? It makes no sense because of the changes they made to moris but not keys. Can the devs or a mod please explain this change?

  • I think it has mainly to do with representation in games and media. I think people want LGBT characters in the game to have someone to relate to and love. This is just my guess. In order to fully answer this question I feel its best to answer why people want representation in any game or media at all. And I feel it this is because of 2 reasons. 1 in the past the media has not show a vast diversity of different people and 2 the little representation they did have it was not in a positive light. So people want representation in order to make for the past. This is my interpretation.

Personally I don't see why not put it. It will make people happy to see someone like them and the people who don't care won't really be offended, if there is not any negative impact to adding then I guess its fine.

Iron Will and Lucky Break are also good with Deception when you're injured.

Any other combos or builds you can think of that would be fun?

Thank you. I’ve been saying similar for years, and it’s great to FINALLY see others form a similar perspective on survivor gameplay.

The loss of a survivors first chase could be their LAST for the match. Far too many survivors play far too recklessly and cocky under the false pretence that they’re 100% guaranteed a certain amount of chances.

No. Your first hook could be game over for you, and that is perfectly within the game rules. If a survivor didn’t do enough to avoid the killer in the first place, that’s on the survivor.

I don't agree its not entitlement to be saved so that you don't go into second if its 100% possible, especially if one them being in the game is best for the whole team. Thats just being a stupid teammate. I agree that if you didn't do enough to hide and get away from the killer successfully then that's on the individual survivor but dying on your first hook is all on your teammates.

Though DS does next to nothing to dissuade a tunneler who is dead-set on you, and probably only aggrivates them further, as it currently stands, it is far too powerful in cases where it ISN'T applicable to be a good idea for giving a buff to.

If they gave it some nerfs to make it work better on tunnelers/campers, and buffed THAT aspect of it, I would be 500% on board with your idea.

I could sorta agree but if it does ever get changed then this change should be apart of it. That would satisfy killers and make it a true anti tunnel perk.

It could be either, but not both. You’ve got to keep in mind how SWF could abuse it in gen rush strategies.

I don't think it can be abused by swf since the effect would take place because of the killers actions.

Fun > balance, 100% of the time. A video game is supposed to be fun, not balanced.

Wait isn't balance also directly linked to fun?Its no fun making an greatly unbalanced game towards one side because one side would be miserable playing while the other side is having the most fun winning. A game should try to have the maximum amount of fun to everyone if possible.
