I’m sorry you actually have to THINK when to use your power rather than blindly holding M2.

Also while on cool down you still have your M1 & 115% speed...

"blindly holding m2" "spamming your power"

These arguments have no substance. Look at any previous response to see why.

And how is being reverted to the basic shell of every killer making you require more thought or skill? It literally caps your abilities to an m1 killer and every aspect of your power and the skill it takes to use doesn't even matter. Again, how is that remotely skillful? At least more than just picking Trapper and not using any traps.

  • Huntress, Wraith, or Hag.

Since none of them have a power meter they're very likely next on the chopping block.

Who wants to wait for your traps to refill so you can't spam them as Hag? Can't tolerate just randomly throwing hatchets, better have a cooldown. Some people come right out of invisibility and then go back in again without having to wait, there should be a cooldown so it's a skillful choice when to use it and when not to.

  • @Customapple0 said:

    He’ll still be fun.

But obviously those who play him to get ez 4K slug at 5 gens are going to dislike this change.

He'll be "fun" in the same way Nurse is "fun"

Because we as the killer really enjoy waiting for a red bar to charge while 3 other people are free to do whatever they want.

That really makes the killer role just feel right, ya know? Sitting there, being the same as any other killer while you're on CD.

  • @TheHentity said:

Im merely saying its harder to play her now, you cant just spam your abilities non stop, there are moments where you have to wait.

When to do that, to assess the current situation, that is where a bit of skill comes in, you just cant spam your ability borderline mindlessly until you get someone, you have to be more deliberate with your blinks, you have to know when its better to wait.

It is not skillful to instantly analyze an area upon landing there with your blink and in that 1.5 second blink window be able to accurately charge the right distance and aim it correctly to secure a blink?

That seems a lot more skillful than just having to sit still for 3 seconds before you can play again.

  • Ah yes what's more fun than trying to "skillfully" wait for your overheat to go down or just using overheat because the cooldown off of it is faster than literally waiting for it to cooldown naturally.

What's more fun than having had a free range power turned into something that is now somewhere in the range of 40~50% less used than it was before?

What is more f u n than being an m1 killer.

The point is that you should not and currently are not really able to.

You could use the Nurse to first, get to a gen fast and then immediately attack a survivor with it as well without and need to consider things.

That is currently different, when you have blinked to a gen, you now have to assess more then before whether or not you should wait a bit and get your blinks back or go for the attack with only one blink, that requires more from the player now then it did before, that is a good thing.

And with new billy its the same thing, you have to make a choice a bit between the mobility or the instadown function, you dont just have both but you have the options available.

Personally I dont care much for add ons, I never use them on anyone.

You're someone who's clearly never played Nurse, or at least not for a long time.

Nothing the cooldown did made anything more skillful. It just made it more aggravating and annoying than anything else. Everything I had to do before the changes I still have to do now. Only change is I have to let them run away for longer before I can do anything useful.

And you imply that this has raised her skill ceiling, when in fact it actually lowered it and raised her skill floor.

  • @TheHentity said:

(EDIT) also change your title, its just bad, it does not say anything about its content and is just attempted clickbait for the devs.

"I'll try to be respectful with this: I think I speak for the majority of this community when I say, this Hillbilly change is one of the worst ideas conjured by the developers."

You most def do not speak for the majority of this community so there is that and one of the worst ideas conjured by the devs is hardly being respectful now is it?

    As for your actually post:

You question statements but then make questionable statements of your own "what determines skill?" vs your own "one of the most balanced killers". The reason was: they were looking at Bubba and picked Hillbilly (as a fellow chainsaw enthousiast) to look at while they were at it, and apparently they found some stuff they did not really like about how he preformed.

Im not going to go into addons, I firmly believe all addons should be removed completely, then killer should be rebalanced to be viable stock, then addons can be added back but they are no longer straight buffs, instead they CHANGE the way things work, give and take, better in some ways, worse in others.

The Nurse rework is pretty fantastic and I guess indeed you nailed it with the comparison, the problem is that these killers can just willynilly use their power whenever they please and they do, they can use them for mobility and downs. That non-stop powerusage is what makes them questionable especially in the Nurse case.

But dont get it twisted, a good nurse who just waits to get both her blinks back, which honestly does not take long, will destroy a team still.

This is going to be the same for billy, you have to make a choice where to use your chainsaw and with what purpose, you can't just brainlessly use it all the time, that is where the requirement of skill comes in.

Now im not saying they did not go a tad overboard with the changes, but that is something that can just be tweaked, its just numbers, but the core idea is fine imo.

I completely disagree with your assessment on Nurse. Using a power "willynilly" doesn't do anything but use your power and move you.

If you're just spamming it randomly and without skill you're only going to get reward if survivors literally walk in front of you. I ######### hate this argument.

How is a rework good if there's even less usable addons than before it and now 2 of them are pretty much mandatory to run if you want to have even a remotely good time?

  • That's for any killer. 4 of the same perk should not nullify any killers power.

  • I personally prefer the way DbD handles gore and violence. It shows it happening but it doesn't actually do the gore part. I like it this way.

I don't really want to see someone's stomach or heart for the 203295423456th time because of the nature of the game and it's repetitiveness.

With the level of gore the game has right now not only is it way easier to advertise and #########, it's not desensitizing as hell.

  • @Purgatorian said:

What I don't understand is no mither is not supposed to leave trails of blood but will leave blood orbs for the oni. I do think no mither should have grunts of pain reduced by 100%, like iron will, and should counter the oni's ability.

well it would be dumb if No Mither didn't give Oni blood, how else would he get it from that survivor? If all 4 run it then Oni has no power.

  • I'd like to add on to this: You have the broken status and everyone but the killer can see it.

This way from the killer POV it's just some survivor who didn't want to heal all game and you're less likely to tunnel them out of the game.

  • @LordRegal said:

I long for the day the words "add on pass" don't mean a total rework that's a heavy nerf. Bubba came out ok, but that's still a 66% rate of the add on pass neutering killers. Fix the problematic add ons, leave the base power alone.

Honestly how could you make Bubba worse without outright admitting you hate your own game? He was never in trouble.

Anyone from the bottom getting an addon pass is fine. Anyone near the top might as well not exist afterwards.

Of course it will vary on an individual basis, but at least from my experience, I see two, usually three DS at least per match.

Isn't the way people use DS a problem for you guys\? Or is an anti momentum perk that encourages and rewards survivors for otherwise playing dumb, like bum-rushing hooks, seriously something you guys actually want?

Can't we just make DS more healthy for this game? I don't like how the best use of DS is, instead of using it defensively, that the best course of action for me is to immediately hop on a generator for the time I'm invincible because the killer can't really do much to punish me for those 60 seconds. If they come back before the 60 seconds, I can just hop in a locker and they're forced to have to either take the DS because again, I am invincible, or completely waste their time.

I also hate that, if I am being tunneled, that to actually use the perk, I must intentionally get downed and caught, which is not something I should be intentionally doing or be getting rewarded for.

And thirdly, I absolutely hate how this perk pretty much guarantees a free escape if the survivor still has it at the end game. Even if I get unhooked and immediately slapped down, I've never once been in a position where I just couldn't crawl out of the match. There should never be situations where a single survivor perk makes the killer absolutely powerless. It could at least do with being disabled during EGC.

I would strongly suggest reducing the cases where the perk is abused for anti momentum by making it be disabled in a survivor begins to work on a generator, begins to cleanse a totem, or begins to attempt an unhook, while also disabling it when EGC starts. Then of course, changing the requirements of its activation slightly to be easier to pull off so that survivors who are being tunneled do not have to intentionally lose a chase within 60 seconds of being unhooked to actually make use of the perk. Perhaps make the timer similar to Pig's RBTs when being chased.

Also remove the whole obsession mechanic from DS. All it serves currently is to signal a killer that nobody has DS when nobody is the obsession in a match, so tunnel away.

Wow I came here to be like "Oh @Almo hopefully that means you'll be looking at these survivors perks because their overuse might be a serious clue too" but you absolutely destroyed that with an impeccable presentation on why DS is bad and possible solutions. It's only one specific perk of the problem ones but I'd say it's by far the worst one tied with Dead Hard. Nice.

This is something the devs acknowledged and I think they said the new MMR based matchmaking will take every killer separate. Not sure if that was definitely confirmed or just something they said might come..

I don't remember them saying they would be paired together but I do remember they said they were thinking about such a feature.

Honestly it's needed and can be done. Take the best killer rank you're at, every other killer will be 10 ranks behind it. Boom. Now you've accounted for their play experience but also give them appropriate noob status with something they're noob at.

  • There was a change where the red auras from gens and survivors were different hues so you could usually tell if you payed attention. Hope they don't go back to sharing the exact same color again...

  • As a Nurse main I'm inclined to agree but the majority of people seem to dislike it so hopefully they'll actually listen this time.

Here's hoping for you Billy mains. May you get it better than we did.

  • If I'm being honest 444,444 is like 2 or 3 games of x5 cakes in a single day, and we lost out on quite a few days. I appreciate it but it's not exactly a giant bonus either.

  • OP here's an image fresh off the press for you

Or the Yamoka family because they're the biggest in the lore so far.

    @Acromio said:

Because most survivors can't even tell a generator from a pallet.

acromio makes a good point, the current match making system isn't really based on skill and it reflects with a lot of boosted players. Hopefully when the MMR system has had time to properly place a lot of players (and it isn't reset monthly) we should start to see what real red rank games are like consistently.

  • It's another weird cooldown a la Nurse.

The cooldown from 99 to 0 charge is 28.6 seconds, but the cooldown from overheating is 15.15 meaning it's literally faster to just wait for the overheat sometimes than it is to actually not use it in a "skillful" manner.

    oof.

Ahk sends inputs into the game tho and my research found out that these inputs are not the same like actual hardware inputs. For EAC it's easy to tell if the inputs are coming from the hardware or are synthetic inputs from a software. The question is: does EAC or bhvr care?

If it doesn't count as hardware input then I wouldn't mess with it.

  • It depends on how you implement them. I use a Logitech G600 with the Ghub software to do my macros and it's completely fine. Anything like that should be good.

  • As a Nurse main it's meh. Sometimes you get a good configuration, sometimes you get absolutely terrible walls that block so much vision.

In italian, entity is a female word for a thing/person with Supernatural powers. So yeah, "she" is the entity, with her claws 😂😂 or spider legs maybe? They look very spider-ish

Oh that's interesting, learned something new.

Definitely a lot of claw things like on 2nd stage hooks. Very spider vibe for sure.

Gives you 50.000 BP for completing it btw, so if you haven't played it and could use some Bloodpoints..

I have no idea when it was added. But thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to grab those juicy free points.

Exactly. So if the shack that is meant for killers now helps them less, is it really a killer shack?

  • @GeordieKiller said:

im looking forward to seeing the new killer shack when the graphic update hits as it looks like a completely new killer shack and feels more threating and dangerous instead of a strong loop for survivors :)

I'm on the fence about that. Something experienced killers could do (I guess survivors too) was to look through the shack and play mind games with that information.

If all the holes and stuff become solid I fear that the shack might become impossible to mind-game consistently instead of getting lucky.

@CheersTC I completely forgot this game recently got a tutorial lol.

I mean, did he really deserve the entire rework? Now it’s not Freddy anymore.

they could buff him a little bit.

His central mechanic is still Dreamworld. How is that not Freddy?

You're more attached to the putting people asleep thing he had.

  • I understand that some of you guys really enjoyed old Freddy buy objectively he had serious flaws with his design. If they fixed all of those issues though, he might pass for a killer.

While some people would like it, I don't see how the character's powers (and in Spirit's case, her animations) would make sense with their "human look". I agree on the thing that auto aim is huge stuff, and aiming nurse is a pain, on mobile. Everytime i pull a precise blink and i can down my enemy thanks to it, i feel like the entity guided me with her... Uhm... Claw?

Bonesaw* unless you're talking about the Entity as a female with appendages haha

Sometimes, very rarely, auto aim will give me a 360 hit and it feels really good.

  • Well just like Nurse getting a non janky power meter it's very unlikely Freddy will ever have something to revert him back to his previous version.

The hit and run build slowed down gens to a crawl, and the transition made you get easy first hits and sometimes downs. He was short so he could mindgame more pallets than usual and absolutely destroyed any stealth build.

As long as you played as a hit and run killer, he was pretty consistent on winning, of course not against good SWF but barely any killer is at that so that why he was mid tier.

I'll give it to the diehard Freddy fans, yall put up with his flaws and still want more lol.

If they could fix all of his glaring issues he had due to his power I would be ok with another killer basically being that.

But you'd seriously have to fix those absolutely atrocious flaws.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1413773#Comment_1413773

He had the most pressure in the game and had transition mindgames. He was an easy mid tier or possibly mid to low.

Personally id put him next to pig in mid tier.

Only if you played him in a specific way though. You pretty much gave up trying to win until the end game where you could sleep everyone and the gates would take like 2 minutes to open.

Outside of that he had game-breaking flaws. It was a cool concept but it was just riddled with flaws.

Ok, what exactly is that scale measuring.

Because in order to get a full picture of a Killers learning curve you need a 2d graph showing the Effectiveness depending on Effort put in.

It's a simple demonstration of the idea of the skill gap. I'm just trying to show how when you only put limits on a character that no matter how good you are, a limit with nothing else is still a limit, it limits the skill ceiling. It also makes it harder to initially learn, so the floor goes up to.

Of course there are a number of other factors in every single game but the general idea is there.

  • @Zeus said:

It's just adding a skill cap to billy. Probably won't affect his performance all that much

This. Old Freddy was a walking carpet for survivors to walk all over unless you ran an incredibly specific build that focused on one incredibly specific part of the game and ignored the rest of it (The forever door build)

Also, I repeat this again: Why would you want old Freddy back? He was literally an m1 killer, his only power was to make it so he could interact with survivors... That's terrible (again, outside of forever door).

  • @rakitghost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1413719#Comment_1413719

Old nurse was OP, Freddy wasn’t, as i said just decrease the timer of 7 seconds to 4 or 3 and rework some of his add-ons.

    The nurse is still OP

I disagree. She was fine, a majority of people just played against her like any other killer and refused to do anything but run loops. But I digress.

Why would you want to play old Freddy? He was literally an m1 killer and his only power was putting people into dream world so he can actually do something to them. It was dumb to wait while in a chase before you could interact with them

It was dumb when awake survivors could just keep failing skillchecks and never go to sleep

It was dumb when you downed someone and an awake survivor came over and started healing them in front of your face because you couldn't do anything about it for 7 seconds

It was dumb when you would hook someone and they would just immediately unhook in your face because the 7 seconds

Don't get me wrong I had fun with old Freddy back in the day but he had so many problems, we are way better off with him as he is now.

  • If you're altering files it's likely the VAC system will catch it and ban you and if it does there is nothing the Devs can do to help you.

  • That's Legion friend. Neither Nurse nor Spirit have skins that look like that, nor is their bodies ever in that position.

4 flashlights means 4 survivors not working on gens, right? I take that as killer any day. It's easier to counterplay a flashlight squad than a genrush squad.

That's when they're preforming sub-optimal. You're always better off with at least 1 person on a gen. That's 2 other people trying to flashlight save.

Ordinarily not a problem, but as soon as flashlights get stronger BAM. Problem time.

If they are already spending time and resources on things that makes players quit, why wouldn't they spend it on things that can bring then a good appearance to the media showing at least one good, and well done, job after all this years

Because it takes a long time to design a killer from start to implementation into the live game. That time frame would probably be longer than their window of notice on when the company will shut down.

I'm not saying it wouldn't cool or worth it but realistically it's not likely at all. Terraria was different because they started work on the sequel but cancelled that and moved back into Terraria and decided to keep updating it with presumably some of the work they wanted to do in the sequel.

We have to live with some of the ######### stuff and play with it. If you want something changed provide an intelligent argument for why and put it in the suggestions forum and pray it makes it to the Devs.

  • That would be cool but unless they're already designing a killer that could be replaced with the Entity do you expect a live game to put it's final time and resources into such work? And as a live game I don't know if we could play when they're done with it since it's now on dedicated servers. Also as a live game you never really know when it's over until it's usually too late.
