  • Sadly a permanent 25% gen/game progress decrease is more lucrative than BP for killer.

Care to explain Insidious for me?

You mean what the perk does?

    If yes:

    Unlocks your stealth ability:

Grants the Undetectable Status Effect after standing still for 4/3/2 seconds and until you are moving again.

    Agreed.

Give us a vote surrender option. Some games aren't worth playing out.

And who decides which are or aren't worth it?

    The survivor group? The killer?

And what happens when it's a 2:2 tie or a 3 against 1? Will the ones that voted for surrender and didn't get their way keep playing or will they start sabotaging their teammates?

Or do survivor and maybe killer all just a free pass to DC when bots are there and we could basically scrap the whole pvp idea after a certain point?

We have often enough seen that people will jump ship at the SLIGHTEST inconvenience when they are given the "freedom" of no penalty

One day you will be able to leave and be replaced by a bot that will stay on hook to the last second.

Would be funny if killer wouldnt realize it

Let's hope survivor get an indicator then, otherwise they might take risks for a bot that won't necessarily help them except being a distraction for hard tunneler.

i said that so there wouldn't be the implication of bias

I know but nobody and I mean NOBODY can proof this claim.

I could say online that in real life i am a medical doctor with a salary of 50k a month and my opinion in medical problems still wouldn't hold an ounce of weight (if my argument isn't profound enough).

Of course that's an extreme example which should be easily to proof given the necessary expertise but in DBD this isn't the case. I have played maybe 3-4 survivor games and could still claim i am a survivor main and nobody would know for real (if i didn't have a nearly 3000 comments history of me saying otherwise).

  • Sorry but i always chuckle when i read these "Oh btw i am X main" or here the P.S. "I am a X main, so..." as if that would suddenly legitimize the claim somehow more in any way or give it more credibility/weight 🤣🤣🤣

Okey Mr. 50 million hours remium survivor what about oni Meyers and twins they kinda need slugging

That was sarcasm. Either noticable by the over-exaggeration or the knowledge what veinslay normally posts.

  • Okay, i think it's funny when you tell people that they freak out too much and then say yourself that UB shouldn't let survivor pick themselves up in 23 second because THATS THE POINT PEOPLE ARE FREAKING OUT ABOUT.

Not the 45 seconds Version of base ub which would end up with max 5 uses but the 23 second version with 10 tries coupled with intentionally going down at a pallet or near teammates with flashlights.

That's the problem. Even slight coordination will have an enormous impact on hook denial if the change goes though like that.

It will leave the majority of m1 killer with two lose options:

    A)just try to pick up

    -> get pallet stunned/beamed

    B) chase the other survivor off

-> getting value out of chasing the other survivor will take long enough for the slugged to get back up and bring you back to square one with another survivor in chase and only a lost health state to show for it, meanwhile 2 other survivor have been doing gens for 30+ seconds unimpeded

    Or

-> scare the survivor away only for them to follow you back to the slug and you are only left with hoping that the survivor makes a mistake in the ensuing back and forth and that the slug doesn't get back up in an unfavorable moment

This scenario isn't hard to reproduce even with duo swf. And it doesn't even take the other recovery related perks into consideration.

And I am really curious how this fast unlimited unbreakable will interact with flip-flop coupled with power struggle. If they synergize it would mean that the killer doesn't even have 7 seconds to resolve that situation before the pickup inevitably ends up in a pallet stun.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3204822#Comment_3204822

    Why? Because you say so?

Same can be said about all those doom and gloom posts over perks which aren't even ran that often (Boil Over/Power Struggle/etc) where people were losing their minds and yet here we are people are still not using those perks.

History shows that broken stuff will be used to excess by both sides once the general public catches wind of it.

    Examples were:

Perma Sabo squads when survivor figured out they could make the whole map a hook dead zone.

Moonwalking legion, forever Freddy or forever mending legion

And not too long ago the whole boil over fiasco with multitudes of survivor running offerings and everything to abuse map deficits coupled with the perk.

Ub right now needs 30 seconds and is single time use. After the possible implementation of the new version (we don't even know if it goes love like it is proposed now) it will be 23 seconds for basekit+perk ub and have up to 10 uses per survivor.

Right now there isn't a strategy to built around ub but with the time reduction and in combination with other pickup perks (don't know if they will stack with other perks), pallets and/or flashlights even duos will be able do completely deny the majority of the killer roster.

  • Wait, a challenge specific item is treated like a normal carryable item?

Damn when you think they can't screw up another aspect of the game. -.-

  • Well no one, even killer, did ask for this nerf in the first place (with maybe one or two extremistic exceptions).

    Same with the bloodlust buff.

Those are things bhvr did on their own and I don't think they will take them out again even when it is easy to revert.

These over the top SWF's and OP SWF's, are a minority compared to the Solo Q hell right now. Many killers dont even know they are facing an SWF, they just think its that way cause they got stomped.

And i'm pretty sure, most of the time it isnt or its not high MMR.

The MMR system ist bad on both sides and some people reach higher MMR than they should. (Both sides)

Sorry but boil over showed that it isn't only the "over the top or op" swf.

Once a broken strategy is made public it will be imitated by the masses.

Flashlight saves? Body blocks? You mean people around you while exposed who could be immediately sacrificed too, and not looking around for the totem?

There are up to 3 other survivor, not all of them have to look for the totem at the same time, right?

And yes I was to lazy to erase the bodyblock part when i remembered the exposed but it's probably still possible with the new dh or something. At least i wouldn't be surprised.

The unlucky timings happen even with current devour hope. The duration of the animation and the time to pick up + hook are on average very similar too. I still don't see the difference

If the hex gets cleansed mid Mori animation you at least get one kill, not with the new version.

Plus flashlight saves, bodyblock, sabo and so on aka more save chances for survivors after the change.

  • @egg_ said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3203493#Comment_3203493

Devour hope literally doesn't change at all

Rancor's best use was the information provided during the match anyway, the mori was just the icing. I really don't know who would ever use it for the end game part more than for the information it provides, unless one has to do a daily and doesn't want to bring offerings

There is a distinct difference between the Mori right from the ground and having to pick up and carry to the next hook.

Even the roughly 10 seconds extra to break the hex totem.

My post was supposed to be a funny take on the forum's reactions to stuff not even in the game yet, nor tested.

What I see the devs doing is attacking something specific, in ways not anticipated and maybe even preventative in nature. As you say, "a first" for them.

They seem to be going after some of the "unfun" aspects of gameplay, like options to try to discourage the killer from taking away a hook stage for instance. That's very useful against the quite good survs, but fustrating against all other survs when the killer guards a hook or intercepts a would-be savior.

So the base Unbreakable and perk change imo isn't only aimed at accommodating changes to the Mori's, but also mass early slugging & leaving the third surv down to hunt down the fourth surv and circumvent the hatch, things like that.

But what i and many others fear is that they forget what good survivors or swf specifically will be able to do with the means they give them.

See the once again much mentioned boil over they released. In itself something good to give people more of a chance to avoid permanent consequences (losing a hook state, chances of getting hard camped etc). But the people that know how to use it to it's full efficiency straight up weaponized it and stuck with it until the devs had to intervene.

And I don't say it's survivor exclusive but a phenomenon of people hiding behind anonymous alias leaving all manners of being civil behind them if they get the chance. (I hope i get my thoughts across as non native speaker and not being sure to have used the right words)

Its also denotes we reached a point where the line between sarcasm and real, extreme and absurd ideas has blurred to a point you cant tell apart people expressing whacky ideas from people parodying said ideas.

Makes me take none of the stuff they say seriously anymore, doesn't matter if it's a balanced change or not, if it benefits survivors they will whine and cry no matter what.

Have updated kill rates been published somewhere?

The only thing we got afaik are anecdotal subjective statements from the loud minority on the forum etc.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again, or sumshytt...

Well multiple meta perks basekit is a first, iirc.

And the irony is that they only do it with ub to counteract their horrible solution for basekit Mori. They would just need to change the requirement from "last standing survivor" to "last survivor alive" and there wouldn't even be a problem with mass slugging for it.

  • Well, given the fact that survivor already can force the killer to slug as the only viable option in multiple scenarios, making that last option also a lose/lose situation will most probably end up in weaponization and abuse again if the devs aren't careful with the tweaks and balancing.

Both sides and survivor just "recently", with boil over, have shown that they won't hesitate to abuse whatever they can get.

And this is why I personally don’t tell the opposition GG when they lose. I’ll let them say it first if they truly believe it was. Too many people have turned what was once a heart-felt sentiment of sportsmanship, into something toxic. Now we never know when someone is being an a-hole or sincere. I definitely don’t get the “GG” when one side gets destroyed. That makes no sense. Obviously it wasn’t a “good game” for the side that got creamed. It’s ok to not say anything at all, when you kick butt. In my opinion, that’s more sportsmanlike (unfortunately) in today’s toxic gaming world.

Yeah from my experience in my much mentioned experiment 10% are toxic or nice each and the rest is either silence or the rare GG's and even those come majorly when i hard lost.

So i gave up saying anything if the opposition doesn't start the conversation with some obviously neutral or nice.

  • Sorry my go-to build was just aiming at comfort and not really useful for in-game.

    Any killer

Iron Maiden, bamboozle, brutal strength and formerly bbq for BP

This built was entirely aimed at speeding up most of my actions, make them more fluid and less tedious and all being entirely passives.

For the 4th spot maybe "fire me up" or however that one Freddy perk is called or something like agitation or another perk with action speed up.

  • My favorite one was a game with less than 5 hooks for me and over in less than 10 minutes and they give me GG.

I answer "not for me" and that kick lose an avalanche of toxicity. "Then go FCK off", "trash killer" and so on, the full package (without suicide or other extreme stuff).

  • Which pool are you playing in?

Which platform, crossply on or off?

  • @malibu_barbie_26 said:

Yall acting like Sabo builds are popular, falling under a pallet is super common, etc. All of these things are very situational and will take the Killer getting the right hit in the right place with the right group of survivors. This just gives survivors a desperately needed tool in their survivor kit. Most Killer mains will learn to adjust their play styles accordingly. The same way survivors adjust play styles to each new Killer when they come out.

Have you been here back when sabo was permanent and sabo squads, even solo, were rampant? (A thing that made mass slugging popular in the first place)

Or remember the boil over rpd problem?

Or inaccessible spots in Haddon field or other maps? (Roof of the garden hut only accessible by dh of the porch roof for example)

Survivor and killer, or rather player in general will always resort to the most broken stuff they can.

  • From my subjective experience of checking profiles out of boredom it is something around 50:50 for solo and any form of swf, during prime time aka 8pm-1am, eu, crossplay on.

The full solo and full 4 people swf are true outliers. Most lobbies are a mix of duo/trio and solo, some duo+duo.

  • @Audiophile said:

Haha. Survivor rule book. It’s funny cuz other killers say it.

Look harder for the point - it’s easy to use the hook as the watering hole.

It’s also boring, cheap play. Do you think this game is supposed to be: “Try to survive the killer who hooks your teammate then guards the living ######### out of them which also is likely to slow down your gen progress as a side effect since you want to prevent your teammate from having an awful game, so you make saves right in front of the killer and then your teammate gets tunnelled and quits because that’s a crappy way to play… and now you have to do the same thing but with a 3 man team”…. No. It’s supposed to be a killer that lurks around trying to kill all of us. Not a killer that hangs out at the hook and waits for people to come by to kill them because its sensible and efficient for them.

and you can’t compare survivor play to killer play. Your comparison isn’t reasonable. Leaving a gen at 75% to go start another in killer terms is more like being 75% done with a good chase and abandoning it. 1 single thing. You’re defending an easy play style because it works to make your job easier and give you more wins thus bolstering your belief you’re a good killer. Sorry but in MY definition a good killer is one that applies map pressure and beats me in chases. Not someone who wins by guarding hooks and getting cheap hits. That’s an aberration of this game that has become the meta.

Yeah, sorry, we aren't mindless moths chasing the light (survivor) in front of us and don't necessarily enjoy getting looped around the same stone three time until the pallet drop and then to the next or a window or whatever.

Tile chaining and abundant delay resources make that playstyle really tedious and checking back for 2 maybe not as skilled looping targets is just the logical thing.

    And about

And once you take the logical easy road it can be hard to look at it objectively and realize that yes, it works well but maybe isn’t really how the game was intended to be played

I haven't seen that done by survivor at any point when they were in the lead. Full throttle no matter how the killer played.

So, sorry if the other killers didn't quit like me or step of the gas for your fun.

  • Well bt already became basekit, now comes unbreakable, maybe next will be dh or a unnerfed form of Ds and then survivor have the old meta loadout for free.

Yes, I played a lot last month, I was having so much fun :) However, this month, it's awful, as I said, every single game, new killers or experienced, me or my friend always experience being camped... sure I can start a gen before he dies, or go get grabbed to the hook... but where is fun in that? I am so annoyed :/ Then you just keep trading until the end of the game without any progress on gens...

So the way matchmaking works, it doesn't put the same ranks together? I just randomly grabs 4 people from all over the place?

    Ranks aren't a thing anymore.

What you see visually is your prestige level and the grade in color.

But grades aren't used for matchmaking but only for the monthly reward and therefore are completely reset at the 13th.

  • I loved to watch vods from streamers in my games to see at which point they understood that i am not going to killer them after double hooking all of them.

Some even didn't get it after rushing right by them with oni for the third or fourth time without hitting them.

  • Sorry i don't want to be one of those people but your title doesn't make sense.

I think what you wanted to say is:

"The game is more broken than ever...."

I just hope you hold survivor to the same standard.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3198328#Comment_3198328

A lot of the times a killer is doing poorly in my matches I give them a kill. Just yesterday this poor deathslinger had only 2 hooks when the gates got powered and I stayed and let him kill me. I also have no problem with farming with killers if they make it obvious, my biggest priority is get the most bloodpoints I can so.

A lot of killers see that I'm not toxic, since I dont teabag or even bring a flashlight, and they still decide to tunnel, facecamp, hit on hook, nod.

Sure, they might not know if I'm going to be an ######### in post chat, but until then they have a choice to be toxic or not, and they still do it. I understand playing like that if someone teabags you etc, but when someone is not doing it, they're choosing to do it unfairly.

People who think killers only do that when someone is toxic first are lying to themselves.

And still, same with people that think that survivor are only toxic after provocation.

My point still stands, why should killer play fair or friendly when nothing postive comes from the other side in accordance? (Following my own experience)

And I don't talk about our individual play behaviour but in the grand picture.

"Be the change you want to see" loses its appeal incredibly fast when you see that the opposition doesn't change with you or gives positive feedback to your change. And neither sides does it.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3198303#Comment_3198303

So you'd tunnel at 4/5 gens because people didnt tell you gg? Ok then.

Why would someone stay in the lobby after dying at 4/5 gens just to tell you gg in the end when they can go to another match and hope they dont get tunneled again.

I play the most fair I can. Play solo q, don't use meta perks, when I play swf we basically just meme and send ourselves to saloon to serve drinks to the killer.

I don't insult people in end game chat. Yet, just the other day a well known streamer tunneled me at 5 gens with 3 Bloody Party Streamers on because he got offended that I was pre dropping. I died with 8k points, and waste a blood points offering. Are you gonna tell me he did that because I was toxic? I was in a duo with @Shaped and they can confirm I was not.

And this is not a 1 time occurrence, this has became way more common, specially lately.

So you'd tunnel at 4/5 gens because people didnt tell you gg? Ok then.

Nice assumption but i explicitly said i didn't do any camping or tunneling for the last 2 years.

And my point is even if i don't tunnel, slug camp, survivor still won't change their behaviour either.

Expecting that one side suddenly stops after both have been at it for over 5 years is delusional.

That's exactly what my experiment was for:

I stopped being toxic/unfun in any way and wanted to see how survivor behave and the result isn't encouraging anything from my pov.

Even when given fair and friendly killer, the majority of survivor won't stop tryharding/being toxic from their side so why should killer be better?

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3196941#Comment_3196941

Killers don't play fair not because they can't, it's because they dont want to. Or are you going to tell me a nurse with starstruck on midwich with range addons that decides to tunnel at 5 gens did it because she is an oppressed killer?

The maps could be reduced by half and killers would still camp and tunnel.

Killers don't play fair not because they can't, it's because they dont want to.

And why should they? Does the game emphasize on playing less optimal towards winning? Do survivor give positive feedback, appreciate a fair playing killer or go easy on them?

From my 2 year experience as fair or even friendly killer.... maybe 20% of all games.

The rest is silence, GG's after stomping the killer or, in roughly the same amount of games as the nice feedback (20%), still straight up verbal abuse and toxicity.

Their is no merit outside of a "cleaner conscience".

That's what subjectively learned through my self-imposed experiment.

  • Timing and latency

If a killer is being toxic to you it's your fault - You apparently

I don't dc, and very rarely suicide on first hook, I dont teabag, I mostly solo. I dont bring items, my build consists of mostly solo q perks (kindred, bond, lithe and prove thyself), yet killers keep hitting me on hook, nodding, being rude in end game chat.

Can you explain how any of that is my fault now?

I would say it's not your personal fault but the fault of the whole olayerbase and online anonymity.

Back in the beginning when people learned how to play more efficient in the years 2-4, survivor were at a distinct advantage with infinites, insta heals, BNP and the whole jazz.

On the other side were nurse, insta billy and Mori. If you didn't use any of those you pretty much felt at the mercy of survivors and they made sure to make you feel it. Same with nurses, billies and Mori users.

Not all of them of course but enough to make the other side fight fire with fire.

The toxicity spiraled put of control.

And now we have killer with the advantage (however true that notion might be or not, i can't decide since i don't play anymore) and now the killer rub it in more obviously while some survivor still do it on their side.

The intensity just shifted from one side to the other over the years.

And let's not pretend that it's "every killer/survivor". That's just over exaggerating and hyperbole and doesn't help in effective discussions.

    Honestly agree.

I mainly don't understand why some reply to these complaints with things like 'ok?' that contribute nothing to the overall point we are trying to make. It's not us trying to make survivor an 'ez' experience, but more trying to understand why the majority of killers are tunnelling, slugging until bleed out, bming etc; trying to make the survivor experience as miserable as possible.

Survivor is already hard enough without proper communication, and I have always played more solo Q than swf so it directly affects players like me. I understand that SWF groups have massive winstreaks; perhaps that is something that needs to be addressed as well. But solo Q players recently seem to be struggling to get any wins at all (neither have any fun); and that's the situation I am trying to bring light to, since it literally made me leave the game.

but more trying to understand why the majority of killers are tunnelling, slugging until bleed out, bming etc; trying to make the survivor experience as miserable as possible.

Maybe because since the glory days in year 1-3 were survivor had all the tools in the world, and after a while learned how to use them, weren't any better and relished any advantage they had and made sure killer felt that they were at a disadvantage.

In the meantime until today both sides have aggravated each other so far that this detrimental mindset has become the norm.

Only since 6.1 killer are maybe at the distinct advantage and this behaviour from their side became the more obvious one.

Survivor is already hard enough without proper communication, and I have always played more solo Q than swf so it directly affects players like me. I understand that SWF groups have massive winstreaks; perhaps that is something that needs to be addressed as well.

And you know what the problem is? Solo vs any kind of swf (2-,3- and 4-people) is during prime time from my subjective experience roughly 50:50.

Killer face solo and swf parallel all the time.

Just from checking profiles i concluded that full solo and full 4-men swf are outliers with similar rarity. The vast majority is a mix of solo and 2/3-men swf and you can't balance for both in the given state of the game.

DBD is by far the most toxic community I've ever seen and I play League of Legends. At this point, I come to watch killer players and survivor players wallow in their abject misery. The real winners are the ones that quit this game.

That's why I for example are still on this forum without playing the game for almost a year now.

This is the substitute for the closed lol forum where it always was such a delight and entertainment to read from banned people how unfair it is and that they didn't do anything only to read their excessively toxic chat locks. Aww the good old days.

I’m pretty lazy game wise and run lightborn a lot.

It’s not hard to avoid a flashy save but it’s easier to just ignore it outright.

Alright, who - outside of me - actually runs lightborn? And there's no "messing up the timing" it's SO EASY

Edit: I didn't see your last point, why wouldn't you camp with Leatherface when it's literally his strength, why go kill people when they come to you obliviously

Spread the word my brethren, of our lord and saviour Lightborn 😎

    Amen.

Interesting thing is that I met toxic survivors 5-10 times in all my DbD life, although I saw a lot of "bully" squads. Maybe it somehow connected to my server, or because I don't camp, or some other reason. But it's either gg, or love letters if I let someone go.

But as survivor there are plenty of toxic killers, every 3rd or 4th will be angry kid. Thats my experience.

Then it must really be a platform/regional thing because I let survivor intentionally go, after playing normal until 8 hooks, during the last 2 years. (Killer only)

I got mostly silence, "GG's" after games where i didn't even get 6 hooks aka got stomped, sometime gratitude (mostly during events) or the general toxic responses. And the nice and not nice were vaguely equal.

Not very much nurturing a friendly environment from the killers.

  • I never understand the need for threads like these time and time again.

"What perk/killer do people not like/is the most fun/unfun?"

And after 2 days it basically comes down to a list of all meta perks/all killers.

Even from a statistical viewpoint, none of these threads hold any value (because of insufficient sample sizes) but get posted every other week.
