It's a party game for the enjoyment of all without competition. You wouldn't go to a dinner party plotting to decimate all the guests at charades and brag loudly about it for the rest of the night. You wouldn't show up for Thanksgiving intending to body the entire family at UNO while shaming your cousins for how they played their cards. Unfortunately, some people do. Society generally regards them as blue ribbon a-holes, and they never get invited to any parties for the rest of their miserable lives. Ultimately, the object of those games is to HAVE FUN and not worry about who wins and who loses. Same thing here.
Ah the empty narrative of "party game for the enjoyment of all".
A party where one person is NEVER part of the group (outside of kyf) and always antagonizing the rest with counteracting goals.
Truly a party game to play TOGETHER.

Yeah i just hop in once in a while.
Hard to be here consistently when stuff gets added and changed and everyone talks about it but you're out of the loop by choice.
Anyway this time i'm just gonna stick around for as long as my discussion gets attention.
Also how ya' doin'?! 🤩
Crushed from my loss of bbq BP rewards as a form of in-game goal, left the game last December, just lurking around on the forums for entertainment and still spreading the glory of our lord and saviour Lightborn 😎

It means that in specifically your survivor MMR bracket there is a deficit in player independent of you killer MMR bracket.
At least that's how I understood it. But that would also mean that depending on circumstance people should sometimes also see both sides with or without boni.

I was playing Clown and there was a lot of ggs, especially when I got 0k. I switch to Plague then 4k 20 matches in a row and not a single gg. Very strange.
That's not survivor exclusive, it's general thing and a reason for the other "GG wp" discussion 2 or 3 days ago.

Why do people do this? What's wrong with you? Get some help.
It's the same in probably all other pvp online video games.
I know it for sure from DBD, lol, rocket league, r6s, ow and a few others, that in the overwhelming majority of the time only the winning side gives GG.
I have to admit i would be the same, after a loss i am just not in the mood for a GG most of the time, except it was a really close and fun experience. That's i made it my habit to just say nothing and move if the other side doesn't write anything to answer to.

Okay i might talk to a wall here but it's still entertaining.
No one admits its not sportsmanlike.
Maybe because it's only unsportsmanlike in your own subjective opinion and not in the eyes of the general majority?
No one cares about the other 3 players who get screwed.
Because in general those three also want to go into the next trial asap and not play in a trial without thrill when the killer is playing halfheartedly.
Just selfish people who won’t take responsibility…
There is no such "responsibility" just as survivor don't have any when a killer is mismatched by the algorithm and ends up with 1 hook upon exit gate powering or the like.
And you don’t have to stand around while people do gens… you can down them, hook them, kick gens, do whatever… just don’t slaughter them before they have a chance to do anything.
And who judges how long the kille should do this before finally being allowed to start killing survivor? When is the point that the survivor had enough gameplay and the trial can finally be brought to an end to go next?
I think I’m done with this forum for awhile…
Thats maybe better because it seems you don't look for discussion but only validation of your heavily biased and judgemental claims, like the conspiracy theory post you made before this.

You understand you’re going off like this because someone told you you played well right?
I go off about people posting 4 letters without intonation, body language and from my experience more often when the other sided ended up with less than 5 hooks/3 Ges done and less than 10k BP (aka not a good game in my opinion getting curb stombed), most probably feeling frustrated and feeling pittied or belittled by them and their ignorance of the situation and their self illusion that it will come across as anything else in such a case.
I don't care about it when the loser says/initiates it (barely/never happens) or it truly was a close game for both sides.

Well since my intentional 0k-ing had brought me down to the probably lowest killer ELO possible, i had it quite often that survivor would completely lose their head and fail to progress after I got my 8th hook and still multiple gens had to be done.
Either i went strolling around the map hitting someone i came across while looking for breakable walls and dropped pallets.
Or if they wasted their time trying to style on me with flashlights or stuff, i went and killed them in the order of their first down.
Or i start zooming around the map as oni, scaring them and looking for leftover orbs.
Or collected all my traps as killer and layed them out in whatever pattern i came up at the moment.
And so on, looking for different kinds of entertainment with different killers to pass the time until they finish the gens.

I think 12 hooking should never be viable as it would mean basically all other methods are basically oppressive.
???
Viable isn't equal to exclusive?
Viable just means feasible aka doable without having to sweat profusely.
Why would anyone try to go for 12 hooks if it isn't feasible to do without even bigger stress than the game already gives?

Nah, we had someone in here not too long ago complaining about people not saying anything after the match as well. Just do what you are gonna do and people need to understand the sentiment behind the message.
Really?
The last one i can remember and probably commented on was this one:
@Jay_K said:
So there I am. I'm playing a game of dead by daylight as the killer. The survivor team is doing ok but due to some mistakes on their part I'm able to 4k the team with 1 gen left.
I'm sitting here thinking "Man that was a great game. fair matchmaking, survivors weren't playing sweaty and it was an all around fun game" So i hit them with the GG well played <3 in the post game.
What do i get back.
"What a trash killer"
"Baby killer omg"
"Nice camping" (usually when I haven't camped or tunneled)
Why is it whenever you have a good game as killer that the survivors come back with insults like "your trash" or "baby killer" despite you 4king.
I get that they are mad they lost but come on. how hard is it to either say GG then go next or not say anything and go next.
And its not just survivors that do this. On the rare occasion I play survivor i have seen countless killers come back with the ole "EZ 4k" or "get rekt"
Like this is a video game. It aint the most balanced or fair video game granted but at the end of the day no matter how the game went it is just a game.
Now sure. if a survivor or killer purposly went out of there way to make your game literal hell then give them some grief post game but 99% of the time its a normal game so if you lose accept it and move on.
And it was about a similar topic of "GG" ending up not being taken the right way depending on the way the match went or the receiving party handling it.
And I remain with my opinion, if you don't know how the other party might feel after a loss, just say nothing, a "GG" might not help and make things even worse.
-
@Rulebreaker said:

And that is your own experience. Mine has been more along the lines of 2/5 polite, 2/5 insults, and last silent. From my perspective, I don't see a reason NOT to try and be polite. I've slaughtered squads, said gg, and they responded in kind. I've also had the opposite. Just because it's mocking to you don't mean its mocking to another.
Well then good for you with that experience and have fun continuing the way you do. I won't stop you.
But from my experience in DBD, lol, r6s, ow and other games, the loser hardly initiates a GG and mostly winner say it, so in my eyes, trying to be better than just neutral silence, no matter how the other party might feel, is in my eyes selfserving (like my urge to be helpful, without regard for the wish of the other party, i explained in my other post above) and I will keep abstaining from doing it.

Maybe certain people shouldn't play multiplayer games if they are that sensitive. No offence intended, but seriously.
Just take it on the chin and keep your head up. If losing at a game hurts you, find something else to do with your time.
Ah yes the buzzword, sensitive.
I guess you never felt frustrated losing in a game or sport and always were the gracious loser "taking it on the chin".
Newsflash, humans are emotional beings. It's psychology and will always happen in all kinds of aspects of live.
Instead of ignoring the potential influence you can have on other and keeping that in mind, they should just scurry off out of any aspect that might negatively influence them.
Maybe people should think twice about how their output could be interpreted before doing something to feel better about themselves. Because "i said it because I thought I was being polite" is in my eyes feeding oneselves ego feeling better about themselves doing what they THINK was helpful to their surroundings.
For example, i am tall and thought I should help people in grocery stores reach something from the top shelves. But often they don't even want any help and me offering or straight up doing it is nothing else but me forcing upon them to make me feel better because i did something "good" without even thinking about the others person's wishes.
But unlike in the grocery store where i can ask the person if they want help or, to get back to DBD, how they feel, it is better to simply do nothing than to force ones own values (here politeness) upon the other party.
And yes I know that going to such lengths is way over the top in the world of online anonymity but hey it's my form of selfsatisfaction using the same standards as in real life.
-
@BenOfMilam said:
If someone is trying to be polite to you, and YOU are the one that takes offense...
maybe the problem is not that someone is trying to be polite and sportsmanlike to you, but that you are overly sensitive and mistake normal interactions as personal attacks?
Imprinting.
If the "GG wp" majorly comes after a lose, however crushing, and nothing after a win, initiated by the loser or as an answer, then over time it loses its polite meaning and gets mentally connected to losses and won't be taken as polite but condescending or pitty. And I guess no one likes getting pittied when they feel down or frustrated.

You assume broken, but do you always know what the opposition feels? I know I don't so maybe it's condescending to say ggwp. But at the same time maybe they think your an arse for not saying anything, that their best wasn't worth being polite to?
But what do I know, I'm just a guy who wants the player base to be Abit more civil (odd coming from us but it is what it is)
Do like i did, SAY NOTHING.
I played 2 years with the 8hooks+0kills/12hooks playstyle and from my pov "GG" came OVERWHELMINGLY only after games where i didn't even get 5 hooks.
Most often it was just silence no matter the platform and it was okay. But when GG comes way more often after a crushing defeat and NEVER after i won then it loses its polite meaning.
Only a true minority were explicitly friendly (mostly during events) and the same amount was still toxic even with my "fair and friendly" playstyle.

It's so easy to de incentivize camping. Give a large reward to gen repair speed while the killer is the only player near the hook. This encourages survivors to do what they should be doing, it punishes killers for camping before end game, and it doesn't change the endgame at all since all the generators are done! So simple.
And another "stick" idea instead of "carrot" after which a "stick" can immediately follow.
Aka make defending hooks absolutely impossible but don't improve the 12 hook gameplay. And no, those 10% changes weren't "enough" to make 12 hook really the go-to viable option, not even close.
-
@Rulebreaker said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3218610#Comment_3218610
Then let's go back to said football game. If the losing team fought their hardest and put up a good game with the "winning" team a single touchdown, would they have played really well?
And how would the loser team feel when the for example missed their qualifiers by that one touchdown?
Broken.
And anything the winner can say at that point will come across as pitty or condescending depending on intonation and body language.
And getting pittied in a moment of frustration by the ones that ruined your dreams isn't helping at all.
And yes I know i blew you metaphor out of proportion but it isn't a good one in the first place given the asymmetrical nature of the game.
-
@Rulebreaker said:

Let me ask something: would a 8 hook game be a bad game?
You mean 8hooks and 0kills?
If yes, then i would expect nothing less than a ggwp because I as the killer went out of my way to intentionally play "fair and friendly" to keep all survivor as long as possible in the game instead of tipping the scales in my favor AT ALL by killing someone at any point.
What you describe is not a bad game but an intentionally "fair and friendly" playing killer. At that point you can't be mad since it was the killer own decision to play like this otherwise it's nearly impossible to get such a score.

lol I like this but you are SO right about the dang chat filter
I speak from experience. During the last anniversary i came back from a long break and had one of those cases and tried to say exactly that "sorry for the horrible matchmaking ...etc" and half my message was censored and looked like an insult or swearing -.-
-
Maybe they should say something more in the line of "sorry but nevertheless well played", if that even gets through the chat filter.
And before anyone comes with "why should I excuse myself for winning", if you get steamrolled with 3hooks+0k or 1gen+0escapr then most probably this game was a case of the matchmaking going nuts again.
So it would more of a "sorry for the horrible matchup but nevertheless well played" but i am pretty sure that this would never make it past the filter.
-
I would rather ask the question how are your respective queue times when playing the incentivized role and when not.
Those incentives where originally intended to reduce queue times and goat people into play the outnumbered role (relative to the 4:1 ratio).
So when you ask if they work as intended then i think minimal queue times at certain hours would be a better indicator.
(For comparable queue time discussions please include region, time of day, platform, crossplay status and maybe incentive bonus status.)

It's showing their constant pain after the 6.1 changes. Survivor are endlessly suffering and in screaming agony. /s

I've been letting people escape, but it's currently double killer bp and it's hard to resist.
You don't need kills to get 20+k points in a match. Just double hook everybody and stretch the game a little bit (should be possible in a 3vs1 scenario) and tada, nearly 30+k should be possible without any kills.
Stleast that happened often enough when i still played and got weak survivors.
-
Afaik it doesn't influence MMR just like hatch escapes have no impact, neither the survivor gains nor does the killer lose MMR.
But even if the case would be that you gain MMR you could counteract such influence by simply not killing the rest of the survivor and thereby lowering your MMR?
Maybe don't take every DC as a sign to slaughter the rest of the team and pull your punches?

Do you think that too many pallets on the map is on the same level as a face-camping-at-gen-5 Bubba. Or a starstruck Nurse who slugs 4 players and lets them bleed out for 4 minutes. Or even a Nurse in general, who is going against a group of solo-queue players who aren't equipped to deal with her because MMR placed a high-level player with 2 low-level players and 1 mid level player. It's stupid to think that players are going to play that type of game.
In fact, there was another user on these forums that gave a comprehensive list of problems with the game that is increasing the disconnect and suicide rates. This forum user really should be a developer because he pin-pointed almost every major problem (that the developers could fix) to reduce suiciding and DCing. Here's the list if you want to read it...
---
1) they want to bully the killer, and found out they can’t bully the current killer
2) they have a rift challenge, and found out they can’t do this rift challenge with the current killer
3) they have a rift challenge, and they already did as much as they could for the rift challenge in the current game
4) they don’t like the current killer, and they want a killer they like better
5) the 1st chase with the killer was very short, and the survivor wants to ragequit out of frustration
6) the survivor thinks they are better than the other survivors, and wants better teammates
7) some else already DCed, or gave up early, and the survivor thinks the game is hopeless
8) the game is being held hostage
Wait are r you really trying to say that you think that those "reasons" are validating the necessity of an option to leave a trial for survivor?
1-6 are nothing more than selfish, childish cherry picking arguments, 7 is debatable and 8 could solved by setting a hard timer, of for example 15 minutes, after which the trial ends in a draw for everybody still in it.
But none of them are a good argument for a good reason to allow free exit out of a trial, 1-6 especially not.

You have already won at this point.
NWO is just overkill at this point - it's fine as a last defense mechanism if they managed to complete all the generators, but you absolutely don't need it to crush a team that has already lost even harder.
Not the kind of healthy attitude that many, many (not all/the majority) swf have displayed throughout the last six years, hm?
Killer on the backfoot or mismatched? Oof have i seen some stuff coming from the survivors my way.
So, sorry if I have absolutely no sympathy for this problem now.
-
Been there, done that.
Game becomes truly unplayable without them. Nearly nobody has the backbone nowadays to stick in a match that isn't going 100% the way they want. In a GODDAMN pvp game against non scripted enemies aka other real players.
And that's in nearly any online pvp game without any penalties.
Without any bot substitution or rejoin/refill system, there is no chance in today's gamer society to keep a team based pvp game running without DC penalties to keep the wussies a little bit better in line.

If a survivor is on a hook and they suddenly DC, does the game not count that as a sacrifice? Or is it still a DC? I could've sworn it counted it as a sacrifice because it played through the same animation
Okay, i admit that's such an edge case that i have never seen that happen. Either they DC from my shoulder OR suicide but never DC from the hook. No idea how the game handles that one. but then again, that's such an extreme niche case that it isn't even worth consideration outside of possible future abuse.

I'd rather not try to solve a problem that can't be fixed.
I'd rather address WHY people leave matches and minimize the damage it causes instead of trapping them in a game that they don't want to be in.
If you want to kill off what's left of the casual playerbase, I'd invite you to continue.
Sorry but that's just idealistic wishwash. There will always be something in a trial that someone doesn't like and will use whatever underhanded tool the game gives them to grief or leave.
I don't like a dozen champs in league to play against as a certain character but can ban only one.
In r6s there are always a few operator you don't want to see in the enemy team on certain maps but have only limited bans.
In overwatch there will always be people playing the hero that counters you or you don't like.
And in DBD there will always be someone unhappy with the killer they face, the perk that the other side has or the map they got.
You can't make it perfect for everybody, which is the reason for the DC penalty in EVERY of those games. But DBD is the only one with a loophole for ONE side that also screws over the rest of their team.
@SuzuKR how about simply applying the DC penalty for deaths in the first 90-120 seconds? It's impossible to die in that time without actively giving up except maybe hook farming but for that they can simply deactivate the penalty if the game detects an unhook.in that time to avoid hook farming DC abuse.
-
@TotemSeeker91 said:
Can't tell the difference between suicide or a DC
Oo, since when?
One is getting sacrificed via in game mechanic and the other is a connection loss.
Differentiating those two should be easy as the game registers a normal death.
Different reasons for DC, those are impossible to differentiate except if it happens from the server side.

I think 'tunneling' is fine now.
It's a cute idea for camping, but I could see speedy killers using this to 'juggle' a survivor to death.
Your final suggestion...how do you hook half of a survivor?
1 or 2 not one half XD
And for the speedy killer, than just any hook outside the range but still with no indicator. No chance to do what was possible with pyramid head on release, the teleport is a guessing game for all involved (of course except swf but what does that not ruin).
-
How about this:
Survivor that get hooked get teleported to another hook outside of the normal TR or BBQ range (at least out of visual from the killer) preferably somewhere on the other side of the map (but not exact opposite, too predictable), the killer has no longer an indicator for hooked survivor and other survivor only get it after 10 or 20 seconds so no instant unhooks can happen.
And for tunneling:
An unhooked survivor loses collision until 1/2 other survivor are hooked. Makes focusing one individual down impossible.

If someone dies at 5 gens, we aren't winning and I'd rather not waste 15 minutes dragging it out.
Give the Killer 25K BP on top of whatever they have already.
Give the Survivors 10K BP on top of whatever they have.
That does not answer my question.
How is such a system supposed to work?
Can killer on their own decide to cancel a match? Is the killer included in the group vote as a form of vote from all involved in a trial?
If survivor can decide among themselves, do they need an unanimous decision? What happens at a draw or a "no surrender vote" with the people that voted against the end result and them potentially trolling because they didn't get what they wanted?
I see to many loopholes in such a mechanic.

So, tell me again... What is the purpose of this perk?
What playstyle is it ment for?
Stealthing and camping close to a hooked survivor or gen back then from the release of the game when stealth still was the intended wax to play for survivors not the cocky playstyles in the face of the killer like today.
