That was my second point, because i always avoid torment, but today, I was surprised to discover that the vault animation triggers torment.
And as another example, vaulting does not trigger hag traps, if you're holding your crouch button
Yeah that's quite annoying but now you know for the future I suppose :/

That's just how his power works. To be fair cages also makes a lot of killer perks useless so it can sometimes benefit the survivors as well. Obviously the killer can choose not to use perks that rely on hooking and can choose when to hook and when not to, tho.
When you come across a Pyramid Head that tunnels it can be very annoying but IME most don't. When I run into the ones that do, I do everything in my power to avoid being tormented, even if it means going down earlier.

Nurse never should have been added to the game to begin with.

That's the only thing Blast Mine is good for, a good laugh when the killer gets stunned, not for actual counterplay
Yeah true. That's why I love it but rarely run it

Overcome does not trigger on endurance hits. That's intentional. (It used to when it was new, but it was deemed a bug and removed.)
Off the Record and Overcome work together. Or am I misunderstanding you?
Edit: nvm it seems they don't work together

I mean if you're about to sacrifice someone out of the game it's totally valid. Otherwise, yeah it's kinda stupid

No, it has changed quite a bit. Ruin is dead, BBQ is out, PR + DMS is gone (used to go against that almost every match), Pop has been almost completely replaced by CoB and Overcharge.
Pretty much all of the old slowdown perks took a heavy hit and killers are running other things.
Still see plenty of BBQ and Pop. Occasional Ruin and DMS. Pain Res + DMS were meta for like 3 months lol.

I see tome challenges criticized frequently (I've complained myself many times) and tbh I'm not sure the devs even pay any attention to the feedback.

To be fair is mostly good for nothing at all because it requires at least one person to croak to start giving value and by that time unless you have 1 gen left the Survivors are almost guaranteed to not power the Exit Gates.
1 token blocks some strong aura revealing stuff like Im All Ears, Nemesis, Myers crystal addons etc, 2 tokens block almost everything, is rare to be more than 48 meters away from a Killer when they trigger an aura read except for BBQ and 3 tokens block everything unless fringe cases where you are at a corner and the Killer triggers an aura read at the oposite corner.
Yeah good was definitely a poor choice of words lol. Thanks for the information, tbh it's hard to keep track of everything that triggers aura reading. I used it on a meme build of SS, Left Behind, and Wake Up with a purple key. That was fun for a couple games. Outside of memes though I can't see this perk being used much.
-
@HectorBrando said:
As far as I know every token gives you an aditive aura inmunity for 24 meters around you so with 1 token BBQ would see you at 41 meters, with 2 BBQ would see you at 49.
What I mean is, your aura cant be read for 24 meters, not that it adds 24 meters to aura reading perks/addons/powers.
That makes sense. Thank you. So it's mostly good for Wraith and Pig add ons that reveal your aura when they are in stealth and you are within 12m or whatever it is?

I believe it. I've escaped more then I haven't since the update. Not everyone has the same experiences.
That's not to say some things don't need fixed for the survivor side however.
I don't.

@Bwsted said:
The problem with his take is that he literally plays this for a living and he just memes around when playing survivor. Some of his self-imposed challenges made him that kind of survivor very few would like as a teammate, if you know what I mean.
He goes in there with a mindset completely different from the casual gamer who's investing their free time for leisure. While definitely no one deserve to win without effort and knowledge, every player would at least like to have a shot at an enjoyable experience.
It's also a completely different way from how he approaches the game when he plays killer, where he actually tries to win, even when he tried challenges.
Secondly, his take about soloq is just shy of ignorant. Saying soloq was miserable pre-patch (true) to downplay the sentiment that now it's even MORE miserable, just completely misses the mark of why people are upset. Imagine you get beat up barefist by someone every day, but you push through it. Then, one day they show up with a baseball bat. Are you gonna say you should put up with the latter just because you did with the former and because both are miserable anyway? That's the essence of his argument.
Thirdly, the problem is not tunneling by itself. The issue is more complex. The problem with survivor gameplay is that most of what you do post 6.1.0 feels inconsequential to the outcome of the match and the interaction with the killer is flimsy and predictable and the remainder is to hold down a button.
There's camping first, where no one literally gets to do anything but hold m1, hang on hook, or 1-for-1/get grabbed. Then comes the actual tunneling, that most of the time doesn't translate to chase interaction as Scott tried to suggest, because of either overly oppressive antiloop or simply getting easily bloodlusted. In either case, the tunnel doesn't add gameplay. It's just a rehook simulator. And finally, there's the actual gen repairing that with the bloated repair time and with the plethora of regression just feel like an inane exercise, while someone else gets camptunned.
Finally, unless I understand what he said wrong, or the perk is bugged again, but Overcome is the single worst exhaustion perk you can pick if you want to avoid getting tunneled. You literally have no exhaustion after getting unhooked and as soon as the killer realized that's what you're running in your first chase, that paints a giant bullseye on your back saying "please, eliminate me."
"He goes in there with a mindset completely different from the casual gamer who's investing their free time for leisure."
This is a great point, thank you. I like Scott and I appreciate his mindset, but it's not for everyone, particularly people who only have so much free time to play DBD or who only want to log in to play a couple games only to end up being ruthlessly tunneled.
-
I actually ran Calm Spirit from time to time because I just enjoy sneaking away from a killer (and hate crows, Doctor and Infectious Fright). But with these nerfs I will never equip this perk again. There have been a ton of times where I just barely finish cleansing totems before the killer reaches me so having this perk would have gotten me killed.
Plus, going against the occasional killer with Thrill of the Hunt? Lmao no
-
Oof, OK, I won't be using this perk. Thanks !

DCs definitley need to be punished harder, but at the same time there is really no point to doing so when hook suicide exists, since it's functionally the same as a DC, but you dont get punished for doing it. Killing yourself on hook should just be removed from the game as well.
Killers DC too.

Most people who say gens are too boring don't want a second objective, the only logical solution here, because then that will take too much time. They already complain about 10-second longer gens, so it's out of the question I guess.
You're not even trying to think, are you?

That's all you offer? Grow up.
This is a crossplay game that buffs all killers by 12.5% here and 10% there in spite of the differences between character, platform, and input. Simply playing on PC buffs killers. Playing PC Nurse, buffs the killer even more. Add MKB to the formula, even more. You do know Deathslingers exist on Switch, yes?
Yeah I play video games to have fun. If you want your teammates to play optimal sweat builds only then find 3 likeminded friends. The only thing your teammates owe you in solo queue is to not cheat or exploit and make a sincere attempt to complete the objectives.
Edit: thank you to everyone who has actually answered the question.
-
@Alcuin said:
As killer or survivor? Killers should sweat and run optimal builds after the update because it ensures a 4k. gg ez. If you're running a fun build on survivor, you're wasting everybody's time, I guess. It's not fun for your teammates.
Grow up.

About Barbecue & Chilli — Dead By Daylight
"oooh, no use in slow killers, only fast mobility killer"
yeah, it makes a lot of sense, much easier to have to go gen to gen to find someone walking with a slow killer then knowing where they are and going straight to them.

Just because someone is 'only using it for the BP' doesn't mean they can't take advantage of the effects it does have, even if they're not their first choice.
BBQ is still an info perk, BP or no BP. It has a beneficial effect. But survivors deludedly afford it far greater prestige than any killer would simply because they always see killers using it. (and it paints any survivor complaining about it with a giant neon sign that says "I have never played killer")
BBQ as an info perk is one of the easiest for survivors to counter. It is very clearly telegraphed by the fact that you can see a survivors aura when they're picked up, and you see the location bubble when they get hooked. This allows survivors to time their locker dives, get within 40m of the killer, or hide behind a gen at exactly the right time and wait there for 4 seconds. Completely negating the perk altogether.
Other info perks aren't so easily countered.
You don't know when another survivor on the other side of the map is about to finish a gen and trigger Bitter Murmur.
You don't know when a killer is slamming lockers open in order to evade Darkness revealed.
And you can only guess and bargain that the killer nearby you isn't running Nurses Calling or that the killer chasing you isn't running I'm All Ears.
Survivors don't care about these perks, despite them having the same, or greater effects, purely because they're not arbitrarily classed as 'meta' due to some incidental secondary effect.
No idea why you said all that in response to my comment. I never complained about BBQ.
-
It always makes me laugh when someone claims they only used BBQ for the bp. Like unless you literally close your eyes for 4 seconds after unhooking someone, that's obviously not true.
-

-
Seriously. It doesn't make any sense to me. The boost for survivor means there's a lack of survivors in comparison to killers, right? So why is the queue for a survivor match 5 minutes long?
-
They cease to exist.
-
Visual and sound design are fantastic. She could use some buffs though.
-
What?
-
There have been so many ######### aura perks and add ons added to this game to damn near nullify stealth. We should have a decent counter to them. No, it is not too strong. There's no need to panic about every single decent perk survivors get.
What were the last few perks that people panicked about? Lucky Break, Power Struggle, Residual Manifest..
-
Now that you mention it, didn't they say they would give us notice? Does the PTB count as that notice?
I'm not so sure the patch will be next week, as people are predicting. I think it'll be the week after. But I've been wrong before. More than a few days notice would absolutely be appreciated
