  • I think they're only counting regular 1v4 mode, not the event modes. There's absolutely no way I spent nearly 200 hours in lobbies when I mostly played 2v8 as survivor.

Thank you for this post, it's great to see all your stats! <3

For those that don't have them yet, do not worry, they're rolling out in batches

Are the stats only counting regular 1v4 mode and not the event modes? My PS recap has me at 218 hours but the DBD email has me at 24.9. I go for the fastest queue and played mainly the event modes, there's no way I spent nearly 200 hours in DBD lobbies.

  • My PS recap said I played 218 hours of DBD, the DBD recap email said I played 24.93. I think it only included regular 1v4 mode because I played a little of that before the anniversary and since then have only played event modes. I played mainly survivor during the events because I want the faster queue so it's not like I played 25 hours in matches and spent just under 200 hours sitting in lobbies waiting.

I've seen it said multiple times this week but are Survivor really going around throwing pallets? Do people have Bond and witness this?

The only times I see what looks like survivors just using pallets is either they're doing a "drop x pallets while being chased" challenge or they're someone upset that they were rescued when they were trying to kill themselves on hook so they go around wasting the pallets that are left.

I think most of the time this complaint is just people having different opinions for when you should/shouldn't use pallets - usually both players think they know best and any time someone else throws down a pallet it's just wasting a pallet. I'm sure there's plenty of people who see with woo a pallet go down and a survivor get downed at basically the same time so they think pallet was wasted. From the downed survivors POV they stunned the killer but thanks to latency they think that hit was an unfair hit. So you have survivor 1 watching and complaining pallets are just being thrown, and you have survivor 2 thinking they did the right thing but it's one of those situations where latency ruined it.

The forums sometimes stutter when you go into a discussion. As far as I know, it happens on every platform and it's sometimes not avoidable.

Could we please get a fix for that? It's annoying.

This is happening for me too. It's anytime I go in to see new comments on a post.

  • This is one of the reasons why survivors don't want to play during events causing killers to have long waits. To "fix" it BHVR is going to start using bots to fill event lobbies instead of addressing the reasons why they can't get enough survivors to play.

  • They have the coding to turn off addons, items and offerings since they do it for lights out. I don't get why they don't do it for chaos shuffle too. It's not really a chaos shuffle when players can still choose part of their load out.

When queue times in any event get particularly long, we have the ability now to add a bot to the lobby to help ease those queue times

This isn't going to encourage people to want to play survivor in the events if they are going to be matched with bots. I was looking forward to the next iteration of 2v8 but if I have a chance of getting matched with bots I'm not going to bother playing DBD. May as well make custom lobbies award BP, XP, rift fragments, and let people complete challenges there if people are going to end out matched with bots anyway.

  • Hopefully this stays in the PTB and never makes it to live servers. If they start having bots fill the lobbies instead of only when someone DCs its going to make the survivor experience worse. The bots really aren't helpful as teammates and killers will just ignore them to go after the real players. At this point I only come back for events, if they end out only using bots for event modes I'm not going to bother with DBD.

Suppose there is an question of scope and of course UI implementation time vs. player engagement. If you give stats in player profile, what stats do you provide? How deep and thorough do you go? How many players actually care? Is there any actual value/incentive to implement such a feature?

Lets be realistic, much as we wouldn't want to admit it, there is actual value to distributing these things via a newsletter, since the newsletter drives player engagement and makes the newsletter something that can advertise products and contact players for marketing purposes (since we give permissions for that when signing up to the newsletter... we are the product).

What is the actual incentive to provide these stats in game? Would be nice? Nice doesn't fund the development time/investment unfortunately... and though it sucks to admit, that IS the name of game once all is said and done.

People have been asking for a personal stats page in game for years now. It's been asked in Q&As and BHVR has tried using the excuse that players that have been playing for years would be upset that they'd start at 0 with new players when implemented because they don't save the stats - every time the old players have said we don't care that we'd have same start date.

I'd be fine if they just added it to a section on our BHVR account if not directly in game. That'd drive engagement to their site instead of an external one that players go to now to upload their data manually. The newsletter is just too unreliable to use for something like this that alot of players have been asking for for years - and it being so unreliable isn't great for BHVR to use it for marketing either.

Hmm, I can flag this issue to the team. So to confirm I'm understanding, you've opted in to receive the newsletter, but it will occasionally stop sending them to you?

Do any of settings in your BHVR account change when this occurs (i.e. boxes being unchecked)? Out of interest, how often would you say this happens for you?

It's happened multiple times over the years. The last time it happened to me was with the newsletter last June that had the alchemy banner code. I had been receiving newsletters with last one being a week before the one that was to have the code, but once the one with the code came around I was one of many that didn't receive that newsletter. I had made 0 changes to my BHVR account but any time this happens support has me reselect the newsletter options on my BHVR account. Every time this has happened support says they'll make sure they look into the newsletter issue to make sure it doesn't happen again but every time there's a newsletter with a code there's a portion of players complaining they never receive the newsletter even though they signed up for it. The newsletter just isn't a reliable source and hasn't been for years.

It would be better if people could access this information in their BHVR account - maybe have a section to view the last month worth of newsletters in there in case people for some reason don't get the actual email.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Why is it not possible to display this ingame? This would be somewhat interesting and yet it will not reach a bunch of people because for some people Newsletters dont reach them.

This. Something like the stats should definitely be available in game or be available on players BHVR accounts, not in a newsletter that is unreliable. It's annoying how many times I am getting the newsletter just fine, even check when an announcement like this comes out, but then it randomly stops and I miss one with some sort of reward. Then it's an annoying back and forth with support trying to get what I missed - most just want to quickly close out support ticket without actually helping, you need to luck out to get someone that will actually help resolve an issue. I get they want to get people to use the newsletter but it's so unreliable and their support team is pretty miserable to deal with.

I wanted a cat tree in the big bay window and bought the long one first but it didn't work well in front of the window so it was moved into The cat/guest room.

Then I found a more traditional cat tree for the bay window instead! I have flipped it around (so the box opening faces the window rather than faces the room). I wanted a cat tree that I could have there and keep the blinds open at night for them to look outside without letting the entire neighborhood see horribleโ€ฆhorrible things if they looked in my window and saw Tippy.

We got our kitties a big cat tree too with the sales around Christmas and another smaller one that's window height. New one is like a foot taller than the old one. Moved old one up to husband's office so they can sit in a window up there while he works if they want.

They didn't really use the old tree when playing, new tree they use a bunch while playing. One night while playing Dante was on the floor and Darryl decided to dive bomb him from the top basket of the cat tree. He made such a loud thump. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • If the cosmetics were bought by people in regions that can't use them BHVR should just remove the cosmetics from their inventory and refund the cells. If they make the cosmetics available in those regions eventually then those players can just rebuy the cosmetics when they can actually use them.

When the RE cosmetics released and you could buy pieces separately no one bought the heads that were identical to the default heads. BHVR had no problem removing the cosmetics from everyone's inventory and refunding the cells so they could make those cosmetics linked. Anyone that wanted to rebuy those now linked cosmetics did so.

  • I feel so bad for the F13 players, especially the console players that can't turn to one of the mod versions that are on PC. On the Gun discord one of the devs had mentioned when F13 steam charts showed 1k players that all the console platforms had around 150k players - I'm sure towards the end that number dropped but I wouldn't be surprised if with all the platforms there was still a decent size player base even if small. I tried it probably in 2022, I wasn't a fan but I was getting full lobbies on PS pretty quick so it didn't feel like a "dead game." From what I saw online the people that have continued to play it really do love it and for them the other assym horror games just don't replace the same feel as F13. It's too bad they couldn't find a way to make it so the community on all platforms could keep playing.

Iโ€™m a huge fan of being the change you want to see. The above people have demonstrated a willingness to be that change while remaining their authentic selves. I see Dbd reflected in every single person listed and on this forum. These people will give you the best that they have to offer. Why not match that passion and be the change you want the dbd community to become? Why not? It can happen. They can help you get there.

I wanted to thank @For_The_People for being the first person from the forums that Iโ€™ve ever played Dbd with. He is a very sweet person who will give you his time of day in earnest if you need him to. Heโ€™s one of the prime examples of politeness in this community. Thank you for being a positive force in the community. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Lastly I need to thank @solarjin1 . What can I say? When you meet a friend that gets you, you both just know it. Her courage to be funny and humorous is so infectious. She told me that the small pallet in rpd was the most op pallet. I was so naive of game knowledge that I believed her! LMAO! After that I realized that it was anything goes when it came to humor with her. Iโ€™m at my best when I can be silly. Solarjin1 is that friend who brings out the best in me. Thank you Solarjin1 for all the laughs and for the laughs to come ๐Ÿ˜‚ Iโ€™m going to be collecting๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

None of this would be possible if we didnโ€™t have a phenomenal community team here to support us discussing this twisted hobby we all have. Thank you again to everyone at Bhvr for putting your hearts and souls (ha!) into everything that is Dbd.

They say you attract more flies with honey than with vinegarโ€ฆ

Happy Holidays everyone, I hope everyone stays safe and has a wonderful New Years ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽ‰

Aw I made the list, thank you :)

Well done to the 3 the community managers are rewarding, definitely names I think everyone knows and as far as I know will have positive things to say about them. Hope you get enough cells to get something good :)

I like seeing people that aren't content creators getting rewarded for being positive contributors to the community. Hopefully this isn't a one time thing and they continue to acknowledge people in the community that aren't content creators. :)

  • I'm glad slugging questions were in the survey. Slugging is the biggest reason I took a long break from DBD. Once I realized I spent more matches on my phone because I was being slugged rather than playing the game I knew it was time to play something else. When I came back it was for events/game modes and slugging has only gotten worse in 1v4. The slug builds are something I have complained about alot on here over the years and have complained about Knock Out both before and after the 6.1 patch where they decided to buff it. 4 minutes of laying on the ground isn't fun game play. More often than not when slugged I was collecting crows, it wasn't some quick chase someone away then pick me up for a hook. Playing sole queue it's hit/miss that your teammates will come pick you up even if you fully recovered. 2v8 I love so much because basekit you can counter slugging so it's not as common as it is in 1v4. Hopefully they do something good basekit to counter slugging and not just some mediocre band aid fix using a perk that's locked behind a licensed character.

  • If the casual mode is basically identical to the regular mode, like the event, then 2 modes are pretty pointless. The event stuff really is just optional things on top of the regular game mode - and alot of times someone going in to sweat/stomp on people not wanting to play serious is just going to ignore those optional things. BHVR aren't even consistent with the challenges, mixing in one's that will encourage people to play casual with ones that will encourage people to play more sweaty. Someone with a "kill 2 survivors" challenge isn't going in with the same mindset as the player with the "give another player a high 5 in a snowman" challenge.

Having the regular mode separate from an event mode or casual mode the devs could make some extreme changes to both sides to encourage more casual/laid back game play and prevent the competitive/sweaty gameplay that happens. In 2v8 they've tried things that appeal to the more casual players. In an event mode they can do the same since it's a separate queue - regular mode is untouched while the casual mode is adjusted with things added/removed to keep games casual and not sweaty.

  • When they first introduced the rift they said 6 months but as others said there are skins from years ago still not in the shop. I think it has to do with a mix of character popularity and the amount of people posting on socials asking when certain rift cosmetics will finally be available in the shop.

  • Agreed, not a fan of that change at all. I miss going straight to the dev comment instead of scrolling and hoping I don't miss it because I was scrolling too fast.

  • Thrill is a base game perk. Pentimento, Devour, and Ruin are available on characters you can get with shards (console players get Hag for free in their version of the base game).

Counterforce is from a character you have to spend real money on.

Players should not be expected to counter things that are free in the base game or unlocked using shards with a perk they need to spend real money on. This applies to both sides.

  • Would be nice if matchmaking included load outs (perks/items/add ons) so someone going in with nothing and pretty weak perks isn't going against someone that's going in with strongest load out possible.

  • No to add ons. The killer adjustments for 2v8 have made a bunch of killer add ons basekit for the killers, they don't need more add ons on top of that. Plus the additional balancing that would be required for not only between the add ons and killer ability but also with another killer thrown in - that'll be a ton of time/resources used to make sure nothing ends out broken for what is currently a limited time mode.

For offerings only the BP offerings would be fine, but right now BP is the only incentive for the queue issue so until that's fixed even those offerings should not be allowed.

Gen amount currently doesn't need to increase. In my matches killers were atleast getting 4ks. If they got less than 4k it had nothing to do with the amount of gens and more to do with the killers just not playing well. Also using the excuse that there's double the amount of killers/survivors is not a good enough reason when not everything was doubled in 2v8 - survivors still only have 2 health states and 3 cage states, exit gates only increased to 3 not 4.

The obsession does not matter in 2v8. The obsession only matters in 1v4 because there are perks associated with it. There's no reason to add more obsessions.

Allow last two survivors to be mori'd? OK, but what's to stop one killer from killing both survivors? Instead of "I missed out on mori because there's only one" it'll be "I missed out on mori because my teammate didn't let me kill one of the 2 remaining survivors."

Besides there being 3 hatches I don't see the point in having hatches open with 3 survivors left instead of 2. I think it'll just lead to killers trying to slug more survivors at a time to prevent hatch escapes.

  • For years people have been asking for a casual mode separate from the competitive players rather than everyone being put into one queue. 2v8 is definitely casual friendly, new player friendly and is a very popular mode - it's why they have extended it both times it came out and why they brought it back so quickly after the first iteration. Based on just the comments here there are plenty of die hard 1v4 players so that mode wouldn't die if they added 2v8 permanently.

There are plenty of players for both modes, the issue isn't that there isn't enough players for multiple game modes - if they felt like it they could probably do several different game modes. The main thing that will keep 2v8 from becoming permanent is the queue times, it has nothing to do with the devs being scared. The queue times during 2v8 really highlights how unappealing survivor is when the moment people can play killer with a friend the flock to it.

Either the devs don't think they need to make survivor more fun/appealing or they don't care. I already thought it was a weird decision to only give the killer role new options in 2v8 when the first iteration made it clear they needed to attract more people to the survivor role. Now in 1v4 changing Thrill so it takes 46 seconds to cleanse a totem - sitting waiting for a bar to load or a countdown to finish isn't very fun or appealing gameplay so either you play more efficient/sweaty to counter or stop playing all together. So when 2v8 is available you have survivors leaving 1v4 for a more casual gameplay experience and you also have alot of survivors switching to killer but no killer wants to switch to survivor.

  • 1v4 becoming more competitive is what made me stop playing DBD. Back when it wasn't so competitive there would be matches where both the killers and survivors would mess around. Alot of what made DBD fun was removed for more sweaty games.

2v8 is more chaotic and fun, it reminds me more of the old DBD I fell in love with. Even when sweaty you still feel like you have a shot. One survivor dying early doesn't ruin the match for everyone else. A killer has backup if they're struggling. Dying doesn't feel as bad in 2v8 because odds are you actually were able to play the game for a bit and there's no extended laying on the ground doing nothing. Unless the killer team is extremely coordinated and the survivors don't touch gens there's no 8k at 8 gens.

  • I mostly played survivor, usually as Escapist. I had alot of matches with 3 Scouts, the other 3 were pretty even. I think people liked the new ability to build/reset pallets.

For killer Shadow and Enforcer were the two I saw the most. Brute I saw the least. When I played killer I played as Trapper using either Enforcer or Fearmonger.

  • They already have it if you search for a lobby as one class but get put in a lobby with a killer that was in the lobby before you with the same class the game switches your class automatically. You have a chance to choose one of the other classes that isn't chosen by the other killer but you don't get to be the same class. They could do the same with Killers, you ready up at Huntress but are second to enter the lobby the game selects a different killer for you and you have 60 seconds to choose a different one. They could even do what TCM does and add the ability to request to switch killers/classes with the other player.

  • Blight got buffs and Billy was given instadown in a mode where killers can 2 tap you. Billy/Blight matches are rough unless the killers have no idea what they're doing.

  • They should do OG mode that rotates different states of the game before Realm Beyond came in. Like 2016 release mode, Legion release mode, Ash release mode. Have the killers, items, addons, perks, maps, and game mechanics exactly how they were on those releases.

  • Couple years ago they did a mid-chapter patch that was only bug fixes. No killer power/add on adjustments, no perk adjustments. Just bug fixes. The Nurse got a ton of bug fixes in that mid-chapter. The forums were filled with people complaining that the mid-chapter didn't have anything new for them to try in the form of killer tweaks or perk tweaks like normally happens in a mid-chapter, it was just bug fixes. It was called a disappointing and boring midchapter.

After that BHVR won't do an only bug fix chapter, they'll always a regular patch with new killer/survivor and mid-chapter patch that has some sort of tweaks for people to try out new things. BHVR always said that a chapter or midchapter focusing on just bugs wouldn't go over well and those very vocal players proved BHVR right.

  • They need to remove the DC penalty when you're kicked thanks to issues on BHVRs side. I understand having a penalty if there's internet connection issues on my side - I can call my provider and work with them to fix it. There is NOTHING I can do when the issue is on BHVRs side due to their servers. The error messages even say it's a dedicated server issue - they can code it so the server issue error message is exempt from the DC penalty, as well as code in a BP/Shard compensation for the inconvenience. If server issues are THAT frequent that coding in compensation when it happens would be giving away too much BP/shards then I think they should probably move server issues up the priority list.

  • I'm so happy it got extended. ๐Ÿ˜

Sounds amazing to me! The boon idea might need some tweaking. I would personally not include circle of healing because healing speeds are already extremely high in 2v8. Unbreakable is already base, is it not? That leaves us with movement speed, and aura denial and info on objectives. Aura denial sounds amazing, considering how often killers are able to see survivors in 2v8.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3844906#Comment_3844906

We are two in that regard. 1v4 has become so stale over time. The only aspects keeping me there are Piggy and Sadako.

They could try new things with boons that maybe they wouldn't do in 1v4. Ultimately it's making use of the totems around the map and giving survivors another class to mess around with.

I took a long break from DBD after they added Nic Cage, 2v8 brought me back. At this point I only play 1v4 if there's a game mode I want to check out or an event that has cosmetics I'm interested in. 2v8 I finished each level in one day and kept playing.

1v4 I hope for a Pig, but that's because I go for boops and if my head gets caged I do gens to watch it explode. I feel bad for the randoms that end up my teammates in those matches but it's probably the most fun I have in 1v4. ๐Ÿ˜‚

    Thx!

This sounds like a good idea! Do you mind sharing where you posted your concepts? I'd like to look into them.

I'll describe the 3 here. They're just basic concepts using several perks for each class. People were saying "more ways to interact with the killer" and 2 of these would create some more killer interactions.

Trouble maker: Combination of Head On, Flashbang, Blastmine, and Chem Trap. Make the ability the Scout one to reset/rebuild pallets and change Scout ability to Wire Tap (makes more sense with the aura reading on Scout).

Boon: we only have like 5 boons to choose from anyway so some combo of those. Ability to see aura of totems and rebuild broken totems.

Illusionist: Combination of Red Herring, Diversion, Deception, and Smoke Bombs. Ability Mirrored Illusion.

Ive heard that by making it permanent, the novelty of the mode would lessen over time.

Not sure if this could work, but I sadly dont really see any other way. Survivor is already very strong in 2v8, so winning isnt the problem anymore (at least I hope so).

You can already heal others in seconds, do flashy saves and rebuild pallets. What other things would you suggest to make the role more fun? I dont think a 5v5 would work either and I agree, that it would be a totally different game mode altogether.

Edit: one more thing that came to my mind is that the variety in killers could make a difference. Right now, there are only 8 killers to choose from, making combinations limited. More variety killers could also result in more interesting matches for survivors, dont you think?

The problem is more people are playing killer so adding more killers is an encouragement for killers not survivors. It's giving killers more options for combos. It's not like survivors have a choice in which killers they'll face, just a "I hope they don't pick the strongest double team." They added 3 new killers and 4 killer classes but kept basically the same 4 classes for survivor, giving killers the new options only encouraged people to stick with the killer side. They need to add more survivor classes, more options for the survivors to choose from will encourage more people to play survivor over killer.

The 4 classes survivors currently have aren't anything that really spices up gameplay, they aren't encouraging people to switch over from killer. Guide is useful but it's still just sitting on a gen, pretty bland for a class. Medic, which again is useful, but it's mainly just is just running to cages and healing - occasionally you can get the quick double heal if you coordinated the 2 minute cooldown but outside that it's also a pretty bland class. Escapist, useful for a chase but the power is pretty lame, again not really adding anything special to gameplay. Scout is definitely useful seeing killer auras, it's power actually adds something new to gameplay. I've posted before 3 new classes I could think of - a troublemaker class, boon class, and illusionist class. If they focus more on adding new classes, things for survivors to mess around with in a match, that would help encourage more people to play survivor over killer and would help out the queue issue.

And everytime someone says this, i respond with the simple. Easy fix, you BAN THEM. Every single other online multiplayer game has the capability to detect people who do things like "intentional feed" "afk" "give up" "grief" etc. So why is that so difficult to do here? They already have afk detection with crows. If someone gets 3 crows in a match, you flag them as AFK and punish them for it just like they do with leaving games.

Using idle crows to punish people is a terrible idea as long as killer can slug survivors for longer than 90 seconds (the time it takes for 3 idle crows to appear). Unless BHVR is going to give survivors basekit Unbreakable to prevent this or just remove slugging entirely idle crows should never be the deciding factor in whether a survivor is given a DC penalty.

Killers constantly complain about survivors moving around when slugged because they "can't find the survivor where they left them" so now you're leaving survivors in a lose/lose situation of wasting time not playing the game when slugged. Either the survivor moves to avoid DC penalty from idle crows and killers use that as an excuse why they "had" to bleed out the survivor wasting 4 minutes of the survivors time OR the survivor stays in the spot the killer downed them so the killer can easily find/hook them but they end up with idle crows after 90 seconds and they get hit with a penalty of 5+ minutes. Either way the survivor is not able to actually play the game for an extended period of time.

Killers have already increased slugging thanks to YouTube videos that have encouraged them saying this is the best way to play killer, they don't need more encouragement by knowing they also have the ability to force players into a DC penalty from idle crows.

  • Either everyone comes for the unhook or no one comes, there's no in between. Next iteration they should add basekit Kindred (minus killer aura) so you can see who is/isn't going for a rescue.

This cute kitty has been hanging around outside our house. Checking with our neighbor to see if she knows if it has a home, if not the lady from the rescue we got our kitties from said she can trap/check it for chip before they start looking for someone to adopt it.

  • I'd love if they extended it an extra week, I'd keep playing DBD. If it's not extended I'm going to go play some other game until there's an event that interests me or 2v8 comes back.

  • Wish I could turn them off. They're neat the first time but after that they get super repetitive and annoying.

  • I don't get why they don't just put all the rift outfits in the store permanently. I don't see a reason why the cosmetics I earned from completing a rift can't all be in the store for auric cells and iri shards. By not putting them all in the store they're just missing out on possible sales from new players and players that missed out - maybe break or just didn't finish the rift for whatever reason.

  • Don't make it a requirement to escape, that encourages survivors to play WAY more selfish which will make your regular survivors not want to play - survivors not playing isn't going to help the killer queue. With escape requirements survivors end out being useless and hiding throughout the match, they'll lead the killer to their teammates more, and at end game won't help anyone that goes down (alot of survivors go down between last gen and doors opening in 2v8).

Instead of escape make it BP related that way you can't just hide all match and wait for hatch or for everyone else to do gens/open gates. With BP requirement you can't just run directly at the killer and give up, have to work on some gens/do some heals. Require atleast 10k BP - it's low enough that it shouldn't take long if you do some cage rescues/gen repairs but also high enough that you won't get it from just cleansing 5 totems.

Tokens should only be earned by playing the side that actually needs players, can include it in the BP incentive. If a side has a BP incentive you can earn tokens from playing that side, if there is no BP incentive you can't earn tokens from playing that side. That way it isn't just everyone flocking to survivor causing a queue issue there until they earn tokens and they all head back to killer queue - which if that happens the tokens are pointless.

I donโ€™t think additional BP incentives would fix the queue times, tbh. Playing killer with another person is novel and fun enough that none of the downsides matter, the killer queue is still stuffed full. Playing survivor with 7 other people is not that different from playing with 3 other, so itโ€™s not novel in the same way, even with the classes and new abilities.

I donโ€™t think BP incentives will change that. They could make them 10000% and I think the queue times would be basically the same.

I agree but they should test that % just to be sure. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Normally I'd be all for adding only BP offerings to the limited game modes but until they get the queue issue sorted the BP bonus is the only incentive being given to get killers to switch to survivor. Allowing BP offerings would allow the role with plenty of players to ignore the incentive to go play the other side.

No to items. There are plenty of chests around the map for you to search. I think it's good that survivors aren't starting the match with a toolkit or flashlight in hand. The matches would go by way too fast if 4 guides were starting with toolkits.

  • 2v8 takes away the solo/duo players from the survivor role that want to play killer with someone. Making it 3v5 you now are also taking away the 3swf as well, that's not going to help the queue that is struggling to find survivors.

There's nothing in your idea for 3v5 that would make survivors want to play that mode. A killer in 1v4 has no problem getting a 4k, it'll be extremely easy for 3 to get a 5k. 2 taps will be easier. You can have 2 killers chasing/downing while 1 patrols gens with the other 3 survivors.

One of the few appeals to 2v8 for survivor is the fact there are so many survivors in the lobby. It's harder for 1 person to sabotage the team and there's more survivors to spread the killer attention. If you make it 3v5 it won't take much for one teammate to throw the match and the killers attention won't be spread that much. 2v8 is a casual experience because of the large survivor number, making it 3v5 will make it just as sweaty as 1v4, probably more so for the survivor role.

There are other ways to help the queue.

Give the survivors more classes, I've listed out several different possibilities in a 2v8 Feedback post I made. Giving the killers 3 new options along with 4 classes while not giving the survivors anything new/interesting in this iteration is part of the reason why the killer queue is still so rough. People keep saying that the survivor role is basically the same as 1v4, just more casual, while the killer role is actually different from 1v4. Survivors need something different and the main thing the devs can give them are more classes with more abilities.

Add an XP bonus to the BP bonus - obviously BP incentive isn't enough to get people to switch sides, they need to add something to it.

Have a preference system in 2v8 where you can set it to killer/survivor but you may not get that role. If there's less people setting preference to survivor they don't have to worry, but if there's more setting it to killer they may get sent to the survivor role.

Have an earned queue token system. Everyone starts with a few tokens. You use up tokens playing the side that has plenty of players, you earn them back by playing the side that needs players. Players with tokens get shorter wait than players without tokens.

I think the reason killers still que up for this mode is because the killer que times in normal mode are nearly as long right now. last night I went back to 1v4 mode and was subject to 8 - 10 minute que times for killer. So i get why killers would que up for 2v8.
What strikes me weird is although killer is seen as the more fun side to play in 2v8 something else must be going on for ques to be that long. Given that you need to get 8 survivors into the lobby either there really is just a ton more killer players than survivor or the matchmaking just doesn't work.
Not sure if there was any clarification on this before but is MMR factored in with the 2v8 mode. If it wasn't stated then i would assume that either it is and its intentional or it is and BHVR forgot to turn it off because if lobbies are trying to be matched based on MMR then that would explain the horrific que times at least for the killer side.

There's enough players for both modes, people just prefer to play killer in both. Being able to play with a teammate or friend is drawing solo/duo survivors away from the survivor queue on both sides while there's nothing except a BP bonus on survivor side to draw players away from killer.

  • Take away hatchets from Huntress, give to survivors in 2v8.
