  • Nobody should be getting excited at all until the changes are here. Chill out and lower those extremely ambitious expectations.. BHVR is still BHVR.. It isn't like some much more suited to the task company just came in and took control.. xD

  • Nobody needs to admit that a "very seasoned" 4 man SWF is unfair. It's common knowledge at this point. Doesn't make EVERY 4 man invincible though.

  • I'll be fine. I wouldn't care if it was a year.

  • The amount of bugs in a single session of Friday the 13th always made DBD look so pristine in comparison. Now that's saying a whole hell of a lot considering the # of bugs that have always been in this game.. >.>

  • Stop doing it in general.

Information overload is a thing. If you start to go over ever little thing and what it does, players are going to opt out and miss what is important.

We have a tutorial on basic game play, which is much more than players with thousands of hours had when we started playing. You also have tool tips at every loading screen that prompts what killer you are facing for the first time.

Everything else is a learning experience. We live in time where people can learn anything and everything about the game. Even things the Devs want to leave hidden. To leave it to what the Devs want to teach which is often not what the community wants to learn, is outdated.

Player retention is not due to not knowing. It's the known disadvantage of going against players that know what they are doing through experience. You can't make it through this game on knownledge alone. Inexperience survivors are going to die to inexperience killers. Those killers will eventually face experienced survivors and start to fail. Nobody is an expert on day 1 and has a massive hill to climb. No amount of handholding will reduce that.

I'm with you on the information overload. I'd still prefer they let the players be fed up with information due to how much BHVR have crammed into the actual game itself and not from outside sources like my example of Rainbow 6 Siege. It's just hard to accept games like R6S having more competent people making them, but at the end of the day, we all have to come to terms with it. Not sure why more people don't like acknowledging that fact. BHVR got lucky with DBD and the fan base its garnered.

Were BHVR the best devs for the job..? Of course not. Just like most people don't end up with their soulmates, DBD didn't either.

    Title.

The front page is littered with doom posts. This is what the community asked for, and all we are seeing are a bunch of worry warts posting negative hypotheticals, expecting the worst outcome. Let’s all wait and see what happens first when the changes are made. The devs will adjust the new changes accordingly if need be. Just be patient and give it time.

I agree. Let's wait and see if they can ACTUALLY fix these recurring bugs/problems. Until I see fixes, I'll continue to think it's just damage control/publicity stunt. They've done it before.

  • I agree that Map Offerings should decrease the chances of going to those specific maps. It makes no sense to let people choose maps in a game like this. Now if the map balance wasn't an issue, we wouldn't have to worry… Unfortunately, maps continue to be the worst part of DBD in terms of balance.

Change the map offerings to guarantee NOT sending us to the map we burn. Makes more sense anyway. The offerings are burned, eliminating that map from the pool when burned. This would also help devs understand what maps need the most work if most people are trying to avoid the same map.

If you're still listening BHVR, prove it. Map offerings should never aid a side with a plan in place.

  • Didn't they just confirm recently that they've added new dedicated servers? I heard Paulie talking about it.

As an avid Self-Care and meme build enjoyer, I don't look forward to being lobby dodged because somebody doesn't like my perk choices. We removed prestiges to reduce lobby dodging, why would anyone want to add something that might bring it back again?

Showing each teammate's perks while in game on the ping / offering page would be something I'd like to see, though.

I'd like to know if Survivors will be penalised for "going next" by attempting to self unhook or by missing a skill check to give the other final player a chance at hatch in an obviously lost game. Will I be expected to hang on in these situations, giving the Killer more chance to find the last Survivor? Because I usually let myself go in these situations, since it feels a bit petty or like BM to stay alive in a doomed trial.

Other than that, I don't have anything to add except that I'm really happy to see BHVR responding positively to some long standing issues. Obviously, we don't know what solutions they have in mind yet, but this is at least a good sign that this stuff is on their radar and they're working towards improvements. I think they've realised that there's no point in bringing big deal* franchises like FNAF into the game if the new players they've attracted don't stick around because of long standing player frustrations that have never been properly addressed.

*(So the kids tell me. I know nothing about FNAF)

We can make it to where teammates can only see each others perks when pressing the "Esc" key after you're already in game. Then if you want to D/C, it's all on you at that point.

It absolutely has to do with ping, but name one other game where both sides can have 50 ping and you still get hit by stuff that isnt on your screen.

I'm asking how do they go about fixing it? Do you have a suggestion? I have the whole DBD team sitting here with me. Let me know and I'll let them know how to fix the issue. What is your idea?

  • Doesn't this have to do more with each person's ping? How exactly would they fix that. Please let me know and I'll tell them for you.

  • @Reinami said:

I still think they should implement a system by which they fix both at the same time.

Put survivors on a "time out" where they cannot be tunneled by the killer, as in, it is impossible to do so, but at the same time they can't progress the game for that same amount of time, then at the end, just let them be automatically healed. This ensures that when you get a hook, you not only get the pressure of them being on a hook and needed to be saved, but you now know that for some amount of time, that survivor can't do anything useful. Its a win/win. The killer is actively encouraged for hooking them, and actively rewarded for not tunneling them (as in, its basically impossible to do so).

I'm a huge fan of this idea and have been preaching it for quite some time. The Survivor could still do everything else except Gens I imagine? That'd be fine tbh.

It's awesome that BHVR is taking the direction of caring about the game health!

There are a few things in the update list that I'm worried will have unintended consequences. I hope the team spends a lot of time crowdsourcing possible knock-on effects of any changes. Like PTBs, longer term trial periods for certain updates, and slightly increased frequency of feedback surveys.

As some others have mentioned, it's also important to address why some of these changes are considered to be needed in the first place, and maybe target certain root causes.

Let's hope they REALLY are doing that and this isn't some stunt that makes it look like they're finally going to take it seriously..

Hard agree and to be honest, in my initial response I did not think enough. I realized that slugging is still way too strong with what they plan in Phase 1 (since it does not adress the Core Issue), but I was happy that I at least dont have to lie on the ground for 4 minutes if a Killer decides to grief the whole team and I thought that griefing might go down with that.

But it will probably rather increase, since Killers would now get a victory if Survivors surrender.

When it comes to Anti-Hiding, I personally only thought of the extreme cases where two Survivors are hiding without any intention to progress the game. However, it is true that something should be done for this situation which gives the Survivors the chance to come back. And while some Killers will probably say that they already lost at this point - especially as Solo-Survivor you have no control over your teammates and if one or two persons got tunneled out early, this does not mean that the two remaining Survivors were bad and dont deserve to win.

Because, I am honest, when it comes to the 2v1, I dont even try, when I get caught, I suicide on Hook so that the other person has a chance to get the Hatch. When my SWF-Mate and I are the last persons alive, even if we both are not on Death Hook, when one of us gets found it is basically "Yeah, good luck" and Hook Suicide.

And something should be changed here. Survivors should not have to give up when it is 2v1. This is not good game design. And it basically means that the Killer only needs a 2K for a Win, since they will get the 3K automatically.

People don't seem to actually understand that BHVR has NO CLUE how to address stuff like slugging, which is why the changes they announced are what's coming. You can't really blame a kettle for being a kettle. Telling it to be a pot is silly though as you should know better.

  • Actions speak louder than words. For now, I'll postpone my thoughts on this whole "Health Initiative" thing. I want to see these words SUCCESSFULLY put into practice for the foreseeable future before I get happy about anything. They have claimed many times that they'd change certain things or make stuff better only to have it all backfire and go horribly wrong. Prove me wrong BHVR. Time to step up and show us you've been listening, instead of just saying you'll fix stuff and never deliver. Aim for the long-term, never the short.

They could put that in the Loading Screen. This might still lead to DCs while loading, but I dont think it would be much. OR at the very least it should be in the game when pressing "Esc", where you see the names and Ping of the players.

This would just be something which bridges the gap between Solo and SWF a bit. People might know that I have Resurgence and dont lead all the healing progress go to waste against Hemorrhage. Or I know that someone else has Deliverance and dont run across the Map just for them unhooking themselves when I am halfway there.

100% agree. I was stumped there for a second on how they could make it work, but this sounds great.

  • Why can we not see our TEAMMATES PERKS??!!! O.— This is obviously what SoloQ could use. DBD Mobile had that… Can't we already see our OWN perks in lobby?… Am I missing a key component here?

  • It was better back then. Much more of a grab bag in comparison to how controlled it is now.

  • I mean 10 bounds would make him even more fun to play. Doesn't mean he needs that many.

  • BHVR is scared to do anything meaningful to Nemesis, because the Zombies are an RNG element that works very well 2% of the time and does nothing whatsoever during the other 98%. Also the Zombies being decent 2% of the time has caused them to continue to nerf Pig… Yay..

Strange how players were able to figure all this out back when nothing but a crappy video tutorial existed.

No amount of hand holding is going to help a new player in an actual match. It's better to experience the game than be told without foreknowledge what to do. Once a player makes mistakes or has questions about something, there are many resources to help them.

I assume BHVR shares this same unenthusiastic pessimism on the tutorials, otherwise we'd have surely gotten updated ones by now. They could easily make tutorials better than what we have, unless you're implying they're stupid. You might be right. It really isn't rocket science and a tutorial will never be a guarantee of victory. Nobody's saying it is. The idea of GOOD tutorials is to give players as much of the basic information as they can. Unfortunately DBD's game play cycle is more about WHEN and WHY you do things. Anyone who plays something like Candy Crush can pick up Survivor and play it while accomplishing nothing.. Press W, Space, and Left Click while occasionally hitting E and maybe F..

There are plenty of things they could do to show people not only WHEN and WHAT is the best objective at any given moment, but also HOW you do each of these things successfully.. Not just how you do them period.. Laziness is why the tutorials suck. Priorities have never been BHVR's strength. Take Rainbow 6 Siege for example. I don't care what type of game it is, you can have stuff be much more informative than it currently is in DBD.. Give us a separate stats page for EVERY Killer, informing players what they're best at, etc. Do this for Survivor healing, repairs, stealth, and chase builds as well.

One of BHVR's biggest fumbles with DBD continues to be player retention. Most of that stems from expecting people to look up 80% of the actual information to even be decent at the game. Posts like that don't help the issue either. Of course we need better tutorials in the game. I say anybody who is satisfied with the tutorials we currently have doesn't really care for the overall health of the game to begin with, and thus far BHVR seems to be sitting right in that same category.

  • @TheRealChessBoy said:

The tutorials currently do absolutely nothing to help new players learn the game besides the most basic controls. Today there's so much crap and complexity in the game that it isn't nearly enough.

    • Where's the tutorial on looping?
    • Where's the tutorial on status effects?
    • Where's the tutorial on how each individual killer works so that new players can actually learn how to play/verse them (especially the most complicated killers like sadako and skull merchant)

A lot to ask for BHVR tbh, but at this point the game is so unwelcoming to new players that it might as well just stop selling

I've been barking up this tree for a LONG TIME... Better tutorials would be the best choice they could make before we get FNAF in here...

I would much rather have a speed bonus the more survivors that are infected

This could work as well but what % are you thinking per Survivor? Would need to be pretty hefty. I'd be fine with the 3 health states assuming everybody was infected AND giving me a massive speed boost because of it. Nemesis is supposed to be much faster lore wise anyway, so a % based movement speed increase for every Survivor infected would be a very welcome addition. Maybe even a speed increase to EVERYTHING similar to FIRE UP?!

He does damage one health stealth if the survivor is already infected, which reminds me yes he has far less vaccines to use compared to Wesker and overall I just dislike neme compare to wesker. I find wesker fun while I find neme annoying like a huntress 2.0 who should NOT be getting hits that he never use to get before that stupid 6.0 to 6.5 hit box. Anyways yeah the zombies arent 100% perfect but they are there some what to be a nuisance if very lucky.

"IF" they're infected. I hope they just make it like Weskers eventually. Wesker dashes from a much further distance than the tentacle and gets the damage + infection. Nobody can convince me Nemesis shouldn't be the same. I agree with your hit box point. Nerf it back to the way it was. Hell, don't let Nemesis move it either so no more sliding the tentacle to get a weird hit. They can change both of those so long as they make the first tentacle hit infect and damage like Wesker. :)

let nessmiss start off in tier 2 and give his zombie all the speed addons (including the irl that activates after a gen completed).

I think trapper not that bad in this mode honestly. he's solid support

Let him start with all traps? :P

  • @buggybug said:

No neme needs no buff he got some already and he is way more annoying than wesker is in everyway. He is literally huntress 2.0 with his tentacle being buff from 6.0 to 6.5 and while not always a thing zombies can be annoying, forcing people off gens, hinting him survivors location and finally can make even a strong loop a weak one cause they can body block and injure you. Also his perk LP has me forever disdain him.

Not sure what you're on about. Zombies rarely do anything. Nemesis should injure and infect on 1st tentacle hit just like Wesker does. The Zombies have never been enough to compensate for that 3rd health state.

  • @buggybug said:

Oh my fellow survivor main chums sorry but amma play devils advocates here so am taking op side here yes give it to him. He is way too punished for missing his power compared to others killers who can just spam hello (billy) and cool down on power is way too long. I miss daddy weskera, they are so rare now. Imo he needs buffs and all I ask for is his power and recovery for missing be a faster cool down reduce if he cant have 3 dashes.

I wouldn't really care tbh, as long as they buff Nemesis first.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

People will get bored of 2v8 also. The longer or more the they make the mode available will make it more common. Metas will develop, the gameplay will get stale.

This is arguably already happening in 2v8 for survivor right now. Nothing new for mechanics, classes, nothing iterated on. Bots are their "fresh new thing" that seems to be only driving people away rather than pulling them in.

The "2" is the only reason people want this mode. The fact that they added bots is just more confirmation that they just need fodder.

This is why I'm glad it isn't permanent. They can bring it back as much as they want, but I hope they actually add something for Survivor in the future iterations of the mode…

  • Wesker doesn't need 3 dashes in 1v4.. He is pretty balanced the way he is.

  • The mending is much quicker?!! I don't see the frustration.. I really don't. Can't please everybody. Legion was OBVIOUSLY coming to 2v8 at some point. Go ahead and picture every other original Killer power that hasn't been introduced into 2v8 yet and get the whining over with.. -_-

  • @fixblitzskin said:

Probably cooking up a 3rd resident evil chapter. They can probably get away with it too they got a good amount of content they can use from the newer games. Ashley graham as a survivor and this guy as a skin for billy.

    @[Deleted User] said:

Been a question from me since they added Birkin as a skin to the Blight. Just a classic and obvious choice.

I hope a 3rd Chapter is in the works or at least has been considered. I feel the same way. Ashley definitely needs to be here! 100% agree!

  • The more bots in the match the less chance you'll escape honestly. This mode was and still is extremely Survivor sided when the Survivors are even just decent. Generators go too fast for most Killer team combinations. Blight/Nurse can usually beat it all, but it's Blight and Nurse, so that shouldn't surprise anybody.

  • @fixblitzskin said:

First of all I really like the new nemesis skin absolutely A+. The art team of DBD never fails. The skins is so cool and awesome to get the real nemesis into dbd. No hate to the remake nemesis but I always thought the two characters were only related by name appearance wise. Since the original deception up to 2017 he was always portrayed wearing a custom leather coat with a bunch of belts looking cool. He Only looks like the dbd version in the remake which in the RE community mostly agree is one of the weaker entry’s. Alongside that he was also portrayed with a rocket launcher. 2nd thing is that buyable moris is a mine ready to get tapped. Fortnite makes money of people buying shoes and glider particle effects imagine moris. If a Mori shop ever happens nemesis should get a rocket launcher Mori. Getting random items out for moris has not been a problem for chucky ( ruler and hammer ), and Dracula ( cup ). Just a suggestion especially how it looks like you guys are adding more RE stuff ingame in this 2v8 which is RE themed. I would have never guessed so hope more RE stuff comes to the game.

I agree. I made a similar thread a day or two ago.

Please give us an alternate Nemesis Mori that uses the Rocket Launcher!

  • If anything he needs buffed. A nerf is laughable. I think BHVR will most certainly nerf Pig after seeing this though.

  • After a few matches the same is happening to me… The slogan of this company should be: "BHVR - Settle 4 Less"

  • He should be able to damage and infect on first hit. Done. I see no reason why Wesker can and Nemesis can't. And don't say the Zombies are the reason why he can't as they are completely useless 98.6% of the time. ESPECIALLY in 2v8 having to hit Survivors 3 times is atrocious…

True. They should just do away with the BP cap, tbh. There's no point to it.

I really want them to put the Blood Market in from DBD mobile.. You can just pick what you want that way.. It was so nice in comparison to the Bloodweb..

Spending them isn't the chore it used to be, since you can do it in the lobby and pretty much anytime you're waiting for anything.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3884756#Comment_3884756

I think there's still a point, since once you hit P100 you get a pretty steady stream of rare and ultra rare items on the web for that character. It'll be a lot more incentivizing once we get p100 rewards, though.

Sure spending them is better than it use to be, but it use to be unbearable. Now its just tedious.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

For sure. I mean, I play both sides and and working on my fifth P100 surv, and play enough different killers that BP is always a need to keep them stocked with items and add-ons. Plus even if you only play surv and have on P100, you can never have enough rare items.

And I am holding out hope that one day we'll get cool rewards for our P100 characters, so I'm gonna keep on that as well.

I hope so too. The day we get confirmation of that, I'll join the P100 club. I just see no point in it until that point.

  • No. I do not. They've been giving away BP like crazy and if P100 means absolutely nothing to you like it does to me than you'll have so many BP that you won't even know what to do with em. I've been sitting at around 30M BP since Houndmaster flopped... I get characters to P9 and stop. When the rewards cease to be earned, I cease my spending. If more and more people followed suit, BHVR would have to add more Bloodweb progression rewards that we desperately need, but they have so many people mindlessly spending BP just for a # to go higher and higher. Without any reward past P9, I see no reason to do it.

Bloodwebs are a chore and huge waste of time. I'd rather be playing the game and not clicking some mobile type menu. Never will be worth it imo unless they make serious changes to the way the Bloodweb works. DBD Mobile did it best. You could just pick out what you wanted to get instead of acquiring all these worthless addons/items that you'll never use, but that's a whole other issue. I'll just keep stacking BP and when the new characters come out each Chapter, I'll P9 them day 1. Rinse and repeat.

  • The fact that Wesker isn't disabled yet doesn't surprise me at all when I really think about it… Probably just another "brush it under the rug" scenario. They could be ignoring the issue so they don't have to tell Capcom that Wesker is bugged and now have to remove him after getting consent to use him in the mode to begin with… This company….

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

well its just that isnt it, the other killer can see their killer instinct too, that's whats so powerful about it, you cannot hide anywhere against them

I expected that part tbh and don't mind it. Both Killers getting notified won't change.

  • If hiding in lockers actually DID something then this wouldn't be a problem. Lockers should hide Killer Instinct…. I mean they do nothing else…

  • @Pulsar said:

Too little too late, if you ask me.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3884287#Comment_3884287

That is obvious and it is part of the problem. Since you are only using your power when survivors are locked in animations, it is much more painful to get a health state since they pretty much always won't be infected when you start chase with them.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3884300#Comment_3884300

Wesker doesn't dash twice, he dashes thrice in this mode. I always though Wesker was a mid killer in regular mode, but BHVR went over the top with his buffs in 2v8, while giving Nemesis basically nothing.

    Same here. Added that.

  • Yep he needs some buffs for sure. Having to hit Survivors 3 times in 1v4 is already hard enough, but in 2v8……….. Forget about it.

Easiest for instance comparison I can give:

Wesker: Cam dash at you TWICE (3x in 2v8) from VERY long "range" with M2 so you get infected AND DAMAGED.

Survivor: Gets a speed boost, but Wesker puts you down right in front of him so you get much less distance.

Nemesis: Hits you with M2 tentacle from a much shorter "range" to infect you but NOT DAMAGE YOU?

Survivors: STILL GETS A SPEED BOOST while NOT BEING DAMAGED AND gets much more distance vs Wesker

    …

    BHVR Logic…..

    …

    .

Even with the 3 seconds of Hindered in 2v8 it's bad and Zombies have NEVER compensated for that 3rd hit in most scenarios… They should be removed or more of them added.. Hell, add another Zombie for each Survivor that's dead, THAT'D BE AWESOME!!!

1 2 3 4 5 … 14
