  • We can only hope it comes out before or along with the Anniversary Chapter..

  • I'd play it if they actually randomized Items and Offerings… Really stupid that they don't.. Kind of makes it pointless to take part in when one side can choose the map… Might as well be talking to a brick wall asking for these types of simple single click changes to happen…

  • Blight should've been nerfed a LONG time ago. Then they can nerf SWF in some fashion right along with him. I mean it'd be a HELL OF A LOT more work to buff EVERY other Killer up to Blight's power level. So what do you think BHVR is more likely to do? Nerf Blight and Nurse? Or buff every single other Killer up to their level..? Hmmm.. Be safe and bet on the lazier option with BHVR.. Either way. Yes. Please nerf him. I'm tired of seeing him so much just because sheep will be sheep and pick the option that wins more.

Isn‘t that something good when they listen to the community? In my eyes it is.

The illusion of listening is different than actually listening. Listening to the very loud casual audience is also a big problem as casual players don't even play the game to it's max potential. If they actually listened to "reasonable" community feedback, the game would've been based on hooks instead of kills for awhile now.. Casual players are of course the majority of most games, but being casual comes with the undeniable truth of not being able to reach the pinnacle of what is possible in the games ecosystem.

If I had my way, I'd have people like Otzdarva and Tru3ta1ent working together with the developers on every decision from loop design and maps to Killer powers and Survivor counter play to those powers. I'd wager those 2 individuals know more about AND are better at anything and everything DBD than any developer that has ever worked on it. You'd start seeing map, loop, Killer power design, and everything be a lot better if the developers actually asked professional DBD players to help them with decisions behind closed doors, because we wouldn't continue to get the same mentalities working on the same exact projects.

Get different points of view in the damn dev team. The people that are there clearly don't get a LOT when it comes to design. I'm sure someone like Otzdarva would do it FOR FREE.. It's that pride. Some companies just can't swallow that pride and thought of "well, we have people who we pay to do that" BS.. They aren't doing it good enough, so get help somewhere else.. -_-

  • The devs always promise stuff and never deliver if it's too tough for them to implement. That's why everyone shouldn't be holding their breath with this "Quality of Life Initiative" nonsense. Believe it when you see it.

  • Here you go.

How is it “obscure” or “problematic?” Anybody can claim this about any chapter or character in the game. If BHVR only released content that zero people considered “obscure” or “problematic”, we wouldn’t get much new content, would we?

Walked right into that one. He was waiting to let that out I'm sure. Anyways……… FNAF will be good. Most people that see FNAF from a distance break the big rule that you should never break regarding anything in life, which is to "Never judge a book by it's cover." I mean if a cartoony game like Multiversus is the first place your kid comes into contact with Jason Vorhees, you don't automatically go, well Jason Vorhees must be a cartoon character I'm unfamiliar with and he sure LOOKS silly, so yes little Billy, you can go watch all these Friday the 13th movies now.. Same thing..

Lotta people are way too judgmental toward anything. It's like a second nature to them. If you're going to be judgmental, do it toward the things that are asking for it like Skull Merchant for example. Perfect target. Clearly whoever came up with SM is on another planet. SM gives off such "WANNABE" vibes.. A design like that isn't cool, important, and should've been left at the drawing board. They tried SO HARD to create something unique that it comes off as absolutely NONE of that.

  • Depends on how you look at it. FNAF isn't one of my favorite things of all time, but I'm more excited for this Chapter than any other before it as I know how much it means to people and I'll be happy to see so many other people happy. It may be the biggest Chapter DBD will ever receive tbh. Love it or hate it, I'm ready to watch that Resident Evil DBD Steam player number get dethroned once FNAF is released. I have no doubt in my mind it'll beat 105k. Hell, maybe it'll even DOUBLE it… O.O Now that'd be something.

  • I agree. Revert that. Messing with the FEEL is something BHVR has never been good at. The idea is to reduce clunk…not increase it. The Ghoul just needed a lock on reduction and longer break/vault pallet cooldown.

  • Nah. Old Dead Hard already gave me PTSD when I play Killer..

  • The problem isn't Zombie movement speed. The main problems Zombies have besides getting stuck on maps is regardless of how fast they're moving at any given moment, as soon as they do the attack animation, they stop in place. They have 0 momentum or realism to the way they move and attack. Even if the Zombies came equipped with jet packs, they'd still never be able to hit even amateur Survivors. They should be able to attack while moving.

  • This Trapper main approves!

I think preview videos in game would be extremely useful of killers powers. I don't think people should have to look them up and it would go a long way with deciding if you want to buy a character as well.

It would certainly streamline needing to guess how killer powers exactly work at the base level, especially at a beginner level playing or playing against killer.

Yes. Game developers should never rely on the internet for people to learn any base game mechanics….. -_-

  • @xCakeStick said:

Tutorial is one of the most outdated aspects of the game, only teaching you the absolute basics of how to move, vault, run, drop a pallet and for the killer it's the basics of that role too. Sure, it's perfect for an absolute brand new player with essentially no MMR but it doesn't even teach you how to lunge as the killer, no explanation on totems, chests, any killer except for trapper, events, killer powers, perks, addons or offerings (maybe this is why BHVR, new players didn't select anything like perks, as you didn't tell them about it until this next PTB). Tutorial shows you how you can waste pallets without stunning the killers, this isn't informative or efficient. The tutorial needs change.

The tutorial mode needs to include more like:

    • Don't stay near hooks, otherwise anti camp won't go up if the killer is camping (same for going down nearby)
    • Splitting up to do generators, to add more pressure onto the killer
    • The tutorial still treats this as we're in 2016, as if stealth is the main choice of gameplay, which is no longer the case anymore
    • The tutorial doesn't even tell killers about the 8 gen kick limit
    • No tips of when to heal or when you shouldn't

Nothing informative at all in the tutorial for modern dbd. I'm shocked to discover that when the tutorial for Rust is even more informative and helpful. Even simple thing like practice against any killer you want could be a good starting point.. what features would you want to see included if they reworked the Tutorial.

Been barking up this tree for a LONG time… No such luck yet… I bet BHVR thinks they've done a "pretty good so far.." in terms of tutorial quality.. xD

  • Dr. Salvador from Resident Evil 4 is the CHAINSAW MAN!!!! I really thought we'd have this one by now. Resident Evil 4 is like the most popular RE game in existence isn't it?! Me and many other people want to see the Chainsaw Man himself from RE get a place in DBD through a skin similar to Berkin on Blight and Hunk on Legion!

    Dr Salvador.png

This is one of those skins that I really hope we get in DBD one day as to me, it just makes too much sense.

    Hillbilly.png

Hopefully they would use his newest look! The RE4 Remake made him look scary AF! Lets get this over Hillbilly! Just like the Crypt TV skins over Hag, Doctor, and Huntress, it wouldn't have to be an exact 1 to 1. Dr. Salvador over Hillbilly would still have Billy's trusty hammer, but I'm sure that wouldn't be a big deal. They could even add a different voice if they wanted to so he sounds a bit different. It wouldn't be necessary though.

    Remake Dr.jpg

We need Dr Salvador for Hillbilly!

Your POV is lower which makes it harder to see survivors and you can lose your power faster

I hate the lower POV for sure.. Maybe if they kept it the same it wouldn't bother me as much, but it is very noticeable.

No. We are talking about the transition from two-leg-mode to crawler-mode. That has nothing to do with the last patch.

Well I brought up the forced Crawler Mode switch annoyance as I make sure to bring it up anytime I get the chance. I just don't see the point of making us switch. Always thought it should be a choice.

  • I just hate being forced into it. It's unnecessary. Let me decide when to crawl.. :/ Player choice should always take precedent over Killer Power as we are controlling the Killer are we not? The way Alien's power works currently controls us, which is backwards as all hell. Even if it just visually throws someone off in that moment, it's annoying and shouldn't be a thing.

That'd be like if you played Oni and as soon as he gathered enough blood the power forces you to use it.. Oni isn't like that so why does Alien have to be?

  • Now if they'd stop forcing us into Crawler Mode, I'd actually play the Killer.. Chasing Survivors while being on all fours is really stupid due to how slow the Alien moves in DBD. It works in games like AVP because you move at lightning speed, but in this game, Crawler Mode has felt like ass since release. Let us decide when we want to crawl.. Not allowing us to use Crawler Mode when we want to completely erases freedom of choice with how this Killers power works..

You just know when the power is almost ready, you'll be forced into Crawler Mode, even if you didn't want to use it..

  • It's a lot like putting perfume on a pig. Eventually you have to get stronger perfume.

You have more faith in them than I. Guess I'm harder to impress.

  • This really shouldn't surprise anybody. The game is being held together by string and rubber bands…

I'm disappointed the event modes haven't been crazier, really changing up the objective and what not, since anyone who doesn't like it can go right back to normal mode. In the event mode BHVR could test huge changes and see how they play out.

I wish they had put the piles of snowskulls from the winter holiday event on the Ormond maps. I miss the snowskulls so much. Snowball fights were one of the best things to ever happen in DbD. I'm probably alone in that opinion, though, which illustrates exactly why BHVR keeps these things relegated to a separate mode: everyone has their own idea of fun, and normal mode is the bread and butter of this game, it's always populated no matter what other mode may be active.

As long as they have mindless drones logging in/eating up whatever they throw out, nothing else really matters.

Too scared of all the crybaby console players

    ???

If only it wasn't part of a mode.. BHVR still doesn't have the balls to implement anything new into the main game mode

You know why modes like this exist, right? I mean, events didn't used to take place in a separate mode, it all used to be one queue. The "serious players" complained to high hell about how every little thing added ruined serious gameplay. They want their gameplay loop to remain as it is. Nothing to do with PC vs console. Hell, console players are usually more casual; if you're serious about the game, you need the performance of a PC and the precision of M&K. If you're on console then you have to deal with the input lag, the lack of precision of an analog stick, the low fps, and the (sometimes debilitating) frame drops, and taking the game seriously will drive you seriously mad.

These modes exist to allow players like myself to get away from the very stale game play that is normal DBD. Either way, they'll never implement any of it into the actual game. Just bread crumbs. I guess it's better than nothing.

  • They just wanted to announce it early to let us know. They'll actually implement it in 2035.

  • Does nothing for my almost 40 million BP.. There simply shouldn't be a cap. When they finally remove it altogether 10 more years from now, then I'll give them praise.

  • F no. Maybe if they upgraded the damn game engine/rewrote the code so DBD doesn't still look and feel like it was made almost 10 years ago..

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

I have no proof that this is intentional, but there is definitely a history of BHVR releasing busted things to sell a crapload of DLC’s and then nerfing later once everyone has bought it.

The unfortunate thing is, BHVR isn't the only company that does this. There are some like LoL that do it EVERY release of a new character.. I'd say majority of the time when BHVR releases a Killer on the weaker side it's because they generally don't understand the characters strengths and weaknesses and are just meeting the quota of "Gotta get this many Chapters out per year. We can fix it later."

You've said this in another topic, but I don't understand this. Surely BHVR would want every chapter to successful? Why should this one specifically be the one that they specifically chose to be 'pay to win'?

I'd agree with you if EVERY Chapter was this way. They're capitalizing on the anime hype. I won't be surprised if they do the same exact thing with FNAF. Imagine the FNAF Killer is this easy to do well with. Money central! Can I blame them? No. Can I point out the blatant Pay to Win tactics. Of course.

I'm sorry but this is a really bad take. The issue with DBD isn't that it's too casual, it's that it's not casual enough - nobody wants to be curbstomped round after round. The game as it is now feels too competitive and too hard once you hit a certain threshold, it's not fair to expect Survs to have to bring the strongest stuff and Killers to play the strongest ones just to feel like they are accomplishing something. I've even seen the stupid, stupid sentiment here that beginner perks and easy Killers shouldn't be buffed because they are for new players, but what about people who like those perks and those characters? What about new players? They deserve to have fun and win with stuff they like, too!

2v8 is popular because it evens the playing field for casuals. Regular DBD is popular because it's not a hard game but it is difficult to master. Hard is fine, lots of people like hard games, but DBD becomes in some cases nearly impossible in a round because of sheer bad luck or who you picked or the perks you have. That really isn't fun and it leads to meta stagnation, and arguments that one side or the other badly needs nerfs.

In reality, the devs need to make the game more about casual play by emphasizing casual wincons, not just 3-4k/escape through a gate. They also badly need to change how MMR works, change how pipping and points work, and change how the game calculates what a "win" is. The way the system is now is too competitive minded and that doesn't feel good for casual but consistent players like me or most of us here.

The other issue? Rounds are frankly a bit too fast and losses feel too much like stomps when you lose. The MMR is not swingy enough to bring a variety of experiences, and there is no incentive to stick with a game the player is losing. If the Devs find a way to slow the game a bit and have more casual wincons count for progression, the sting of losing the round goes away and the feeling like you can't improve goes away. People will not feel the need to tunnel or slam gens from the word go, and the game will feel much more friendly to anyone who wants to just run a few rounds after work or school or something - which is most players of this game. Less people will take breaks and more people will return.

But they need to balance it so we don't get these one-sided stomps and that losing is a game state, not a punishment like it currently feels to be.

Problem is like I was saying. They'll never balance it like they should. End of story. Just go ahead and wish in one hand, then crap in the other and see which hand fills up faster.

Denial is ugly cause people refuse to accept the truth of the matter.

    Kaneki is broken.

Boom. I said it in big, bold letters, does that draw attention to it or are we gonna here the same excuse people always hide behind when something stupid cracked is released and they don't want to see it get nerfed?

"Just find counterplay" and provides no examples on how to counter this white-haired trashbin

Those that are denying he is too oppressive are the folks I am referring to. It is very obvious to see that the Killer is too oppressive for the average DBD player. I just didn't specify to see which side would contradict me first, but yes I agree The Ghoul is pretty oppressive.

  • @RainehDaze said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3905905#Comment_3905905

Mmm, it's just that having a lower skill ceiling doesn't mean a Killer is "easier", it just means that at some point their mechanics are going to gimp them more. Take Legion: it doesn't matter how good someone is going to get with Legion, they're still basically an M1 Killer, and have a much lower skill ceiling. But that doesn't make them easier to play.

Kaneki's actually got a reasonable skill ceiling in there (and part of the skill floor – the size of the aim window – actually hurts that) when it comes to using his power around loops, so the skill ceiling is fine.

Regardless of what any of us think, the nerfs are coming. Just a matter of time. I'll start calling it the "skill whatever" in honor of this conversation. Thanks. The Ghoul's "skill whatever" will be nerfed soon. Gotta mark those calendars.

Floor. It's skill floor that you're talking about. The skill ceiling is the opposite (at what point you can't be more skilled and expect better results). Skill floor is about how easy it is to pick up and get results.

Apples to oranges. You get my point so no need for correction. His skill EVERYTHING is easier than Nurse. There you go. Happy?

how is it pay to win when Nurse is included in the base game and blight is obtainable via in game currency? You don't imply kaneki is actually better than Nurse do you?

In general his skill ceiling is way lower so yes for the majority of people that try Nurse 1 time and try Ghoul 1 time, Ghoul will perform better. Please, tell me I'm wrong.

If the average player is frustrated with a balance catering to them what do you expect they would be when balancing caters to players that are actually good? Like idk if you know but dbd is a bussiness and catering to a tiny % which are the actual good players is NOT a good bussiness descision.

I'm saying DBD is caught in an infinite loop of fan disapproval due to balancing more for the casual side. That's the whole issue. At least balance for the top and casual side evenly, but due to them usually balancing for casual play leads these casual players to whine more and more until they get their way.. Giving a whining child what it wants just because its whining doesn't solve the issue of their mentality or the situation. And as we've seen many times in usual BHVR tradition, that's exactly what they'll continue to do as they're already ruled by their casual player base. The casual side that sticks around at least.

The casual people that play and leave forever after a few matches are the smart ones. This is why BHVR act like they're scared to make any substantial changes to the base game formula as they might upset that LOUD casual group. The fact BHVR chooses to constantly walk on eggshells in the face of their player base is laughable. On one hand, they do it because they're afraid to change what works, and on the other hand, letting players decide what they like and what they don't, cuts out the real hard work for BHVR as they don't have to really dig deep themselves to make the game better. Not that they really know how to do that anyway.

  • They didn't even try to hide that Pay to Win aspect with this Killer Chapter..

  • Agreed. Remove it.

  • Things feeling "clunky" is unfortunately what DBD was built on. Doesn't seem like that's changing any time soon, unless we miraculously get new people in charge that have the guts to do what's best for the game overall instead of living life exclusively in the comfort zone..

  • Buff:

    1. Trapper
    2. Nemesis
    3. Ghost Face

    1. Blight
    2. Nurse
    3. Ghoul

They CANNOT do that, most pro players have no issues with ghoul rn as an example, if you make them balance the game people would complain more. Because lets face it comp players are leagues above anyone in pubs, you make them balance the game and the average player who doesnt know what a checkspot is will be very frustrated.

Average players are already frustrated. My point stands.

Wesker wasn't this problematic at all? Not that I remember

I mean Wesker as in pick rate. Nothing but Wesker for weeks when he was released. I hope Ghoul gets nerfed sooner, so we don't have to sit through this just as much as back to back Wesker at most levels of play..

  • Yes. It just shows that these developers have no idea what they're doing when it comes to balance.. xD God forbid they get some pro players in their to do the job that they obviously cannot.

  • He'll get nerfed. Don't you worry. Every game as the Ghoul I see nothing but people disconnecting, and I don't blame them one bit. It's Wesker all over again.

  • It belongs in DBD a hell of a lot more than the abomination known as Skull Merchant. Ugly design, terrible play style as and against. Also the name and lore of the character comes off as someone trying WAY TOO HARD to sell this really stupid idea of a character.

  • Overrated for sure. I'm looking into the future and I see The Ghoul being meh once the inevitable nerfs arrive similar to many other Killers before him.
