As a regular Rocket Launcher detractor.... I approve this message.
In seriousness, this is a great idea. You can have a believable rocket launcher without breaking the logic of the game, nor having to make your rocket launcher a bubble gun.
Might be good to tie it exclusively to the Finisher Mori... just so photobombing doesn't look silly... Though now I think about it... I'd probably be happier to give it a long set up animation and the rocket launcher to simply gibb any other survivor caught within the blast radius...
That would be a funny and unique Mori Interaction 🤣
I'd love the tentacle through the head idea as well. I'm just trying to alleviate the "Nemesis needs a weapon" desire any way that I can. Yeah that's an interesting concept. Maybe ALL Finisher Moris should be different than the default Mori. We may get there some day. This way the people who want Nemesis to have a weapon can be answered as well as people wanting different Mori animations can be answered. Everyone wins!

What a great idea! You can get your lore accurate Rocket Launcher without the pain of trying to balance a rocket launcher weapon in normal gameplay. Plus I'm sure if it was attached to the Skin, people would definitely pay for it so it makes financial sense too.
One rocket to the face please 🚀😵💥
Yes! My wallet is ready! Make it happen BHVR! I'd wager Capcom would agree for the same reason.

Want to hear what the general consensus is: Is it a pure crutch perk for Killers to avoid using? Is it fine in some builds or specific killers? Fine to have, but not to build or rely on? Something else?
I'd have made this a base game mechanic a long time ago. It can still be revealed further and further like it is now, but I see no reason why this shouldn't be something you have to watch out for each game. Then they can either delete the perk or rename it and make it do something else similar to what they did with Shadowborn. That would take some pressure off of Gens to an extent and make people rethink NOT doing Totems if they don't want to get 1 hit downed when the gates are powered. Incentivize those Totems BHVR.

I agree. The zombies still get stuck on outdoor maps so…. That should be fixed by 2030 I'd say..

I'm having fun as well but I do agree that they should get rid of the starting bots.

This sucks though because like I personally said, I find original chapters to be better and I don't like that dbd needs the licenses in order to survive, but that's kind of the box they're put in because this type of game isn't easy to market, the never ending amount of iconic licenses help them out so much.
I don't like it either.. I want it to stand on it's own legs instead of piggybacking something in any way.. It'd be different if those things actually changed everything for the better, but all they do is add that iconic thing in while keeping the game exactly the same. Same bugs years later, same imbalances, same outdated graphics.. Seems like only competition is going to make this game improve.. Our comfort zones are our own worst enemy.. :/
-
DBD would be long gone if it never got a single license. I know many think that's a hot take and I'll just put it here even though I'll never not believe it's a fact. Nobody will ever convince me that the shallow AF game play in DBD would've kept as many people as it has until now without the big horror icons in it. So there's my "hot take".
-
New players coming into DBD usually don't last very long… :/

@OnryosTapeRentals said:
I agree. There's a few things they REALLY need to get a handle on before FNaF:
- Bugs and optimisation need to be the number 1 priority in my opinion. The game has been a disaster since the UE5 upgrade and desperately needs some TLC. Perks, items, add-ons, cosmetics, heck even entire killers (Houndmaster) just don't work properly and it's very frustrating. If I picked up the game as a new player today, I'd probably refund it given how buggy it is.
- New player experience. I don't know how exactly they're going to address this but the new player experience in this game is horrible. Like actually horrible. Of the 10 people I used to play DbD with, only 1 of them still plays. Most of them found the game too difficult and gave up before reaching 100 hours.
- And yeah, the griefing needs to go. About 1/3 of my matches end up ruined. Either a survivor gives up, or the killer decides to turbo tunnel at 5 gens. Sometimes both. It's not pleasant right now.
I'm really glad some big names are talking about this because as a community we've been asking for improvements for years and it feels like the progress has been glacial. Really, really hoping DbD gets its act together before FNaF. And if it doesn't, then I hope the resulting fallout will inspire prompt action.
I couldn't agree more. The real question is, at what point do the developers finally make some meaningful changes to the core mechanics of the game? The 2016 version of DBD does not work anymore in 2024. Especially for Survivor… It's stale, boring, lame, dull, and not unique enough. Take a damn chance BHVR.. Stop playing it so safe.. People want more to do in the game on the Survivor side. When I say that. ALTERNATE WIN CONDITIONS is the first thing that comes to mind.
Generators are boring.. Simple as that.. Put alternate win conditions in this game. You even removed the Hatch from being seen until there is a single Survivor left? WHY? At least it gave people an ALTERNATE WAY to play the game. Different paths to victory. Perks barely add diversity because all Survivors can just use every perk. Every Survivor feels the same. Add unique traits to the characters. Make Dwight feel like he has something that Felix doesn't. ANYTHING… That's why the Killer side of the game is more interesting, the Killers are……wait for it…..unique…(to a certain extent). Wraith feels a lot different than Trapper even though they slice the same. The cloak puts an entirely different spin on the Killer game play as opposed to Trapper.
What about Survivor though? Well, once you play one you've played them all. You can talk about different perks until the Sun comes up, but the Survivor game play only got more interesting once you added the End Game Collapse. Make more changes like EGC. Give us alternate ways to do the Generators as well as alternate ways to escape the trials. Gens……………Gates….is so boring… I feel the simplistic yet hard to master nature of Survivor makes the experience feel very tedious to newer people, which is why they don't stick around very long.. The actual depth of the game play to someone who isn't into horror is lost after the first few games of playing Survivor.
Give us something more. Use what you have and keep adding to it. Different modes is a start, but they don't mean anything in the long run as different modes are EXPECTED in games these days, and for DBD even different modes are LIMITED EVENTS???! Like…what? Get out of your comfort zone before something forces you to.

It's unfortunate too, it would give them the opportunity to add in so many cool things. Besides a thorough optimization pass, they could have also implemented a good match replay system to aid in reporting and allow players to rewatch their trials for improvement.
Sounds so nice. To add to your point, I'll never agree with the "just because the licenses are in the game, the game is good" mind set that lots of people seem to have in this community. I'd rather have a stable/functioning game before having something like an iconic license. That way it can be realized to it's fullest potential instead of being held back due to the inadequacies of the foundation.
-
@JPLongstreet said:
The most sweeping thing they can do has always been a fresh recoding from scratch, which would give them the best opportunity to address so much. They've said they have no plans for that, sadly.
The last monster chapter was the first Resident Evil update, which had the most eyeballs on it that this game ever had. I hope we don't have a repeat of that super buggy unstable mess.
I'd imagine recoding the entire game would take years, but had they started doing it years ago, perhaps they'd almost be finished at this point… I don't think they want to tbh. They're simply trying to stay afloat at this point. The amount of people dedicated to the game must be big enough to allow them to drag their feet the rest of the way.. :/
-
FNAF will be make or break for the future of DBD without further health updates.. If they can't get people to stay when FNAF is added, nothing will make people stay. The only thing that will come even remotely close to FNAF will be Friday the 13th and even then it still won't bring as much attention to the game as FNAF will. Most people who have heard of DBD assume Jason is already in it anyway, so the fact that he isn't is held against DBD from the get go for said people. FNAF will be the games biggest peak. I really hope they're ready for that influx..
The first impression is the most important. The new player experience in DBD is still abysmal as there is no guide. Keep expecting people to just "look it up themselves" and DBD will die. Just keeping an already devoted group of fans SHOULDN'T be enough for you BHVR. Get new people to play the game and then KEEP them playing….-_-

4-mans are by far the tiniest SWF groups out there. Only targeting them imo would be a waste of the dev's resources and time, when there's so many other aspects of the game needing attention. This sounds mostly sounds an issue at the higher MMR areas anyway, which they do not balance for in the first place.
You speak as if the devs don't already put way too much time into wasteful changes. :P I agree btw. It is a much more noticeable problem at higher MMR.

Would help killers who have many Badham offerings for sure. 😂
Thanks for the discussion, I enjoyed it. The game is very outdated in my opinion and changes come to the game very slowly. It would help and liven up the game, imagine 5 map offerings dictating the game to not go to each specific realm but no, instead it's a roll of the dice on who picked what map offering. I hardly use map offerings unless I'm tired of seeing the same map (Coldwind Farm and Shelter Woods). I usually opt for bloodpoints and typically I don't burn Badham offerings as I know most of the time the killer will DC in the loading screen or tunnel because that's all they can do on the large map. ☠️
The game is indeed outdated AF. It actually hurts to see the passion not flowing like it would be from developers who really REALLY care. This is what happens when people get comfortable. DBD really needs a wake up call. I should also point out that perhaps they do pour as much passion into the games development as they can. I'm not without empathy, but if you are working so hard on the LICENSED stuff that its affecting the quality of the core game then I think we still have a problem.

Yes, that's why I don't believe there should be built in-Bond or Kindred as it makes Trapper and Hag harder to play for example.
That's why I brought up the ping system to compensate for the lack of communication solo-queue gets. It helps people play and works around communication and I believe it would help solo-queue in the long run to implement the changes I've suggested above.
I definitely agree about map offerings, if anything I'd rework them to be the inverse of what they are. If a killer for example brings Badham, it reduces Badham from the pool and helps keep Dead By Daylight's RNG in tact. The same could be said about killer, however. The times I've been sent to Midwich or Dead Dawg (my most hated maps). Obviously they'd have to do something about sacrificial wards, but I agree that one side shouldn't be able to tip the balance in their favor unless items and add-ons are in play.
Yes I like that idea. The map offerings could be a "DON'T TAKE US THERE!" option. Will the devs implement it though.? No..probably not. :/

I suppose, we can agree to disagree. 😊
My bad, I was in the shower and didn't read that specific point.
But regardless, I don't see a point of nerfing SWF. Most SWF are not team Elysium with clock callouts and not bully squads (they're not doing gens anyways). It's a non-issue to me, I just value player freedom.
There are ways to improve solo-queue, such as showing the anti-camp meter. (that's one example) or even implementing a ping system similar to what a map add-on does. Even introducing the ability to see each other's perks would go a long way. There are definitely ways to improve solo-queue to become more coordinated as we've seen with the HUD update and built in borrowed time. Thanks for the discussion anyways. 😅
Understandable. SWF just hurts the game far too much for Killer as literally NOTHING is kept secret from even a decent 4man. Killers have to rely on some secrets otherwise it's a steam roll. Not to mention map offerings still being in the game. I'd remove those altogether. Map offerings just rig the game for one side. Sure it feels good to beat the odds like a Trapper on Eerie of Crows, but the mere thought of sending everyone to a specific map to favor your side shouldn't even be an option.

Yet limiting how people play as well.
We're already at a 60% killrate for killers as per the developers, yet you want to restrict SWF to playing with other perks. SWF is not comp DBD and doesn't need the restrictions that comp DBD needs.
Again, do you consider 2 man SWF strong? Does 2 man SWF need to be addressed or are we primarily focusing on 4 man stacks?
That's Behavior's fault for putting in terrible tutorials and the onnus of getting better in a game typically requires the person to either
a): spectate players
b): go on YouTube to figure out tips and strategies
or c): taking time to read perk descriptions and figured out optimal builds
Look at any popular multiplayer game and you'll see that people typically need outside sources to git gud at a game. Dead By Daylight is no exception to this rule and if you want to improve as survivor or killer, you typically need to watch people who know what they're doing to get a better idea of how to "win".
As I said if you read the full post. Crappy website constantly reloading and saving messages when they are not complete. 4man only. Agree to disagree.

Eh, that's just bringing comp-styled gameplay to casual games of SWF.
Not all SWF are good, lol. I just find it odd that out of all games that involve playing with friends people want to add restrictions to how others play with one another. SWF has a marginally higher chance of winning compared to regular solo-queue and adding restrictions to a player base that primarily plays the game isn't it, imo.
I would argue making solo-queue more in-line with SWF and buffing F-tier killers is a better alternative, especially with how loops have been obliterated anyways.
Again, I typically duo-que, so are you implying that if my friend brings Sprint Burst I can't bring it or does this change only impact 3 man/4 man SWFs?
They'll never be able to make solo Q games anywhere close to SWF with the current tutorials they have in place. They expect the new people to look the information up themselves, which is their first mistake. Nerfing SWF would be 10x easier. I doubt many people would care about this type of change. All it does is limit the amount of spamming the same strategy per Survivor while promoting using different perks when there are so many in the game. We can agree to disagree, however this rule I'm suggesting would only apply to 4 man SWFs as I have no idea how they'd even code that for 2man or 3man groups that include random folks.

@CautionaryMary said:

I don't know how you would implement this or any other change to SWF.
People bring up gen-debuffs, but when asked no one can give a consensus on 2-man or 3-man. Like the other poster said, solo-queue suffers without the information a SWF provides and usually has randoms running around not knowing what to do unless you're high MMR.
I'd just implement it and the friends can figure it out themselves. That's already what the devs expect of player currently and with limitations like this it'd add more structure, which is exactly what DBD needs. More structure would put a cap on stuff like SWF. You want to play the game with 4 people for the communication advantage that's fine, just realize that no 2 people can have the same perk. Discuss it amongst your team before queuing up. This is also a pretty tame change that would go over much better than others I've seen suggested like slowing the generators down.
-
I agree with the SWF shouldn't be able to have any of the same perks. That's just stupid.

Yeah. Even though I think back to years past and think "survivors were so OP then!", I kind of felt like I could do more against SWF then than I could now. Obviously I didn't have the experience back then to capitalize on it, and now that I do, killer has been nerfed to crap. But it's true. The amount of times people say, "These killers players, that I can count on 1 hand, have 1000+ win streaks!" but they'll never look at the streaks where survivors got so many 4-man outs in a row, without even giving those killers 1 hook. And it doesn't help that some people on here, who main killer, exaggerate how strong the killers are. I don't doubt in their ability or expertise, but when they say, "Clown and Freddy are really good! It's just that you guys haven't explored their potential yet!", it's just like… No.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3876384#Comment_3876384
It's inevitable that as a game's lifespan goes on, the players are gonna get better and start playing dirtier/more efficient. But I feel like this game's had that way accelerated due to survivors being immature and just demanding everything be handed to them. The survivor role really has never been that hard to play. You connect tiles together, use check spots, send 1 in to unhook, and do gens fast. But the most casual and biased of them got the devs' ears and said, "Killers having any agency in chase, or any meaningful slowdown, is OP!" So that's what you've got now, and it's why the past few years has just been a history of killers getting nerfed, resorting to new strats/perks, those get nerfed, resorting to new strats/perks, and the cycle continues because the base tools and mechanics they've got are not good enough.
A lot of killers used to be pretty decent. If you dropped some of them from their peak strength into the current game, some wouldn't be very good, like Freddy or Wraith, but others I think could be strong, like Deathslinger or Pinhead. I didn't like the Spirit nerf, because she went from a mindgame killer, which took lots of skill from both sides, to a killer who just chased faster... while phased. 🤷♀️ Freddy was a glorified M1 with a bit of slowdown, but still got nerfed because he was "S tier" and took "forever" to beat. Deathslinger really hits hard, because I mained him, and he's just ruined now. His quick scope and smaller TR are all he had, and they nerfed them. "His shots are unreactable!" You're not supposed to just be able to react to the killer's power. It's about being unpredictable. And Wraith pretty much has the most counterplay in the game, if you think about it, and he got nerfed just because he had a fast/long lunge...
I've been conditioned to tunnel. It physically feels bad when I force myself not to tunnel, because I know I'm making a bad play. But with the dumb DS rebuff, Shoulder The Burden, and all the other Terminator off-the-hook perks survivors get, I'm leaning more and more towards slugging. I've had pretty good successes with it. But after the devs nerf that, which they inevitably will, I really don't know what we're gonna do. Nobody wants to play a role where they're set to lose the moment they go against equally skilled opponents.
I completely understand. :/
-
They did very little to Freddy because anything more than that would actually take effort. BHVR has a bad habit of playing it way too safe way too often.
-
I think the clear win condition for Survivor is to power all the Generators/Exit Gate and escape. The clear win condition for Killer is to stop that from happening at all costs. Do new players know these things?.. Probably not.. BHVR needs better tutorials to show newer players how to go about those things. "When" is it a good time to hide/unhook/do Gens/Heal. "Why" should I do a Gen/Heal? "Which" Gens are more beneficial to do at the moment? Those kinda things.
The problem is DBD still just throws everyone in expecting them to know what to do, because if they like the game enough, they'll just look it up themselves. I've always hated that developer mentality.. The "we want it to be crazy and you never know what's going to happen" answer is another way of saying we don't want to put any more effort into it than we absolutely have to.. :/

Ngl, I love the idea.. At this point I'd be down for anything to add more variety to the currently stale cycle. The Killers seeing the aura of the Generators at all times kind of ruins the point but perhaps the perk that let's you move a Gen also hides it's aura from the Killer while moving it!

Which might be good. Just look at where the need for balancing has led us. Sometimes a bit if chaos is ok. Dbd is not a competetive e-sports game. It was never designed to be one and the amount of rules that people push on top of it just to force it into that role shows.
Removing soloq would be the first step of dbds march into the grave. We want this game to succeed. Not to die out.
I agree with this sentiment. You can't perfectly balance it and I've always understood that, but there are still GLARINGLY bad issues that could easily be fixed.. One that comes to mind is the fact that BHVR made the anti-camp hook mechanic STOP the bar if another Survivor is near.. That's so stupid as NEW PEOPLE (who the mechanic should be made for) have no idea being close to us while on hook with Killer in our face, completely blocks the mechanic.. How they don't think about this stuff, I'll never understand.. It REALLY is simple..
-
Maps start at night and gradually move towards day time as the end draws closer. I mean the game is called Dead by Daylight ya? Then we can see the farm at night again. Other than that I just hope they keep making improvements to the core engine/code. I don't care what gets added otherwise. Having to deal with endless bugs/issues every single time they update is exhausting.. To be fair, DBD isn't the ONLY game that has this problem, but when this game has problems, they're always BIG problems..with game play/server/graphic optimizations etc.

No, this is the same thing as Dead Dawg locker flashlight save squads. Just because they were "rare" doesn't mean they weren't a problem. Same with SWF. If they're at a certain level, the killer just can't do anything to win, and not because they're just THAT good, but are good enough to abuse the brokenness and the survivor sidedness of the game. There's no map they won't do well on, no build they can't make do with, no killer who will give them a challenge, bar Nurse/Blight playing near perfect.
This guy gets it. 4 Survivors exploiting how good that side ACTUALLY can be will always feel so much worse than 1 Killer doing the only things they can to exploit Survivors….slugging/tunneling/camping. It'd be different if Killer players were not conditioned into realizing how hard it is to down very good Survivors. Eventually all Killers just say F it I'm tunneling this person out as they weren't turning on DBD to sweat. People want it easier and since that ease doesn't come from naturally going after other Survivors for most, that isn't what they are going to do..
-
They're counting on us to look forward to licenses of course as the game itself has nothing new coming aside from that. Licenses keep the game afloat. God forbid we get any substantial game mechanic additions like we did back when End Game Collapse was added to spice the entire experience up. Imagine if FNAF fails to garner the amount of attention they hope it does. (I doubt it fails to be fair) But if it did severely underperform what would they do? Maybe they need a surprise like that to put a fire under their asses. Then maybe they'll start fixing/adding things that actually make the game better instead of continuously stacking bugs on top of an extremely shoddy foundation.
If BHVR never gets around to working on DBDs core, everything else will continue to suffer because of it. -
Fix his addons. Everything except M2 range is useless.

What turns me off the most from killer gameplay is how flat it is. Find survivor → Chase survivor → Hook survivor → Rinse and repeat. And I don't buy for a second that camping, tunnelling or slugging do anything to make it feel less flat.
TCSM, I've only ever played killer, and it's so much more dynamic. Chase sequences are a lot more dynamic in and of themselves due to a lot of subtle differences, what with health bars and stamina systems and the different types of escape methods the victims have.
But on top of that, most killers have some kind of 'set-up' thing they can do. Bubba can break barriers, the Cook can put padlocks on doors, Hitchhiker can place down traps… So even if you're not in chase, you can strategise on where to place your tools to try and catch the victims off-guard, or which areas to deny.
And then on top of that there's Grandpa. With victims having much better stealth in TCSM than survivors in DBD, Grandpa is actually added as a fantastic additional way for the family to put pressure on their opponents. This makes it worthwhile to not just chase victims, but also to go around collecting blood from the self-replenishing blood-buckets and go feed grandpa to improve his ability to highlight victims.
With the constant shift between patrolling, setting up, chasing, and blood collection/depositing, gameplay for the Family feels a LOT more dynamic than killer does in DBD. And I think that's what is hindering killer the most in DBD, there's just nothing to do. The higher level you get, the more methodical these chases become, too, resulting in them becoming more same-y.
Instead of band-aiding everything with perks, BHVR should start brainstorming ways to expand on gameplay for all parties involved. We've had glyphs for ages now and they're ONLY ever being used for challenges, not as a substitution for band-aid perks, for example.
I agree with the TCM game having a better Killer experience in terms of how much you can actually do. The part where TCM fails is the Victims can F with you way too much. DBD can reach that point, but it has 0 competition from a rival game studio.. Competition breeds innovation and ever since EGC we have never received any other massive changes to the mechanics of DBD. Adding perks only goes so far unfortunately.. BHVR has all the power. I suppose they're just holding off on doing any more broad mechanic changes until they absolutely have to, which I have to say is extremely complacent.
BHVR need to get out of their comfort zone and make big changes before they are forced to. That point will come eventually. The game won't survive forever in it's current state.

By what metric does it no longer matter?
Except for some skin collabs, every character in the game comes from a horror-inspired or horror project.
The one's that are the most borderline, Lara and Trickster, caused a MASSIVE amount of discussion around their inclusion.
Nic Cage has less horror under his belt than the Star Wars universe has horrific depictions of cruelty and violence in it and yet we have Nic Cage because BHVR can twist and turn the rules whenever they want to. And they will continue to do that if they know it will bring people to the game. They've already lined up other franchises that have crossed lines with certain beliefs on why it wouldn't get added so Star Wars will be no different. That's a good idea by the way. Taylor Swift is pretty scary. She can be a skin for Trickster. I'd be runnin!
And as usual, we can both have our own opinions on what is a good idea and what isn't. Outright saying someone's opinion is a bad one is a big red flag ya know? Vecna btw is way above Tiamat or the Tarrasque. Even Asmodeus failed in some places where Vecna succeeded. While it of course is still up for debate who is really the strongest being in DND, Vecna was considered biggest of the big baddies in that universe until his defeat. I play DND 5e weekly so these conversations are not unbeknownst to me. -

Yeah but he would need to be op to make sense in dbd.
They could give him something crazy. Like throw downed pallets. xD Sky is the limit. I'm sure Disney would make them use the force in some manner. You can't really add Darth Vader without objects being thrown. Maybe even Saber Throw.

I’m also a huge Star Wars fan from the clone wars and the original trilogy.
That Star Wars and other stuff isn’t exactly horror, is no longer an argument against it. Dbd already got so much stuff, that isn’t horror.
But I agree Vader would probably not fit into the game. You slice somebody with a lightsaber. Oh they are still alive. - Well this doesn’t matter for Disney anymore, so this isn’t exactly an argument against it (at least for them). And a looping Vader would be kinda weird.
Anti-loop force power. :D

Pretty sure this is Vecna as a Lich and not a god.
You are the one looking at it wrong. DBD isn't Fortnite, we aren't going to get Godzilla or Among Us as collabs. There shouldn't be any Lady Gaga or Balenciaga crossovers.
It's supposed to be a love letter to horror properties. For all of their faults, BHVR has managed to stay true to that so far with their characters.
Splitting hairs as usual. Vecna is the most powerful character in DND however you want to slice it. Accept the idea early and avoid being upset later similar to another franchise that I won't name. I'm sure you know the one I mean though. Star Wars has plenty of horror related stuff in it so I'm not sure what you mean.

I love this idea, Darth Vader would absolutely fit. Not only is Vader the right hand guy of Sidious, who corrupted him fully, and made him of the dark side of the force, he is also the murderer of the jedi younglings. While Sidious is the worst of the two, Vader serves the role better as a Killer. Here is what I would LOVE to see for a Dark Side of the Force Chapter.
- I want him to be able to use the Force to pick up a dropped pallet and launch it at Survivors.
- I want a legendary skin of Vader as Anikin before the battle on the volcano planet.
- I want him to have a quote about hating Sand, when hes taken to a map with Sand on it.
- Vader is most known to use, telekinesis, force choke as well as using the force to sense and amplify his abilities.
- Obiwan as a Survivor, probably legendary skin.
Honestly sounds like a win win situation to me.
Change the sand quote to "I don't like pallets. They're irritating and are everywhere."

It shouldn't be possible.
It's like putting Goku Black as a Killer. Doesn't work at all.
Vecna is the Zeno of the DND universe. Zeno erased Goku Black yet here he is..DND Zeno. It works. It's how you look at it that makes the difference. Freddy Krueger is a prime example of power level does not matter in DBD.

I'm not gonna lie... as much as I try to resolve Vader being in DBD... I just can't.
It feels wrong, and I'm trying to get my emotions out of the way and be logical, but every fibre of my brain interrupts by screaming "no!" and can't produce a rational thought.
It doesn't help that Star Wars as an IP has been utterly crapped up the wall to the point I just get triggered whenever I see it... it's like a aneurysm enducing poison cloud that follows me everywhere I go and can strike at any time...
I'd argue having Vader in something like DBD gives BHVR an opportunity to show how scary it could be. I think we can all agree it be nothing like how cringe The Acolyte show was… Anything higher than that I'm down for.

I doubt Disney would allow anyone to potentially screw up a Star Wars collab, too.
They keep that privilege to themselves.
Thus far.

Why would Disney hand over one of their biggest IP's as a bargaining chip? That's just insane.
Disney is extremely possessive of Star Wars and charges a hell of a lot of money for the license. Even though Battlefront II was a success (despite it's ######### launch), they didn't make CLOSE to enough money to justify another game.
We would all do well to remember that anything is possible. Let us never forget that or we'll be staring down the barrel of another "that license won't happen because of blah and blah situation" til it actually does happen.

Playing a game and designing a game require different skill sets. Being good at one does not mean you're good at the other. Some people who are very good at playing the game can sometimes have pretty objectively terrible ideas for game balance.
Much less often than those that make them in my experience. It's much easier to put your own foot in your mouth when you make the game is the issue. It just comes off as a "my way or the highway" mind set.

I am probably the biggest Star Wars fan around. It matters to me and to others. Vader is a tragic character that isn't inspired by or rooted in horror. DBD and Star Wars do not mix. DBD has already been diluted, but at the very least, all of the characters are horror-inspired or have some elements of horror mixed in.
If you actually wanted to bring in Star Wars (which I doubt you could nor do I think you should), you'd look at trying for starweirds.
At the end of the day BHVR goes to Disney and asks for something else they own like Predator for instance. Disney says if you want anything else from us you have to do a Star Wars Chapter at some point okay? BHVR then says what the hell and agrees. Sounds pretty simple.

Seeing this guy play the game was all I needed to realize he had no idea what he was doing. If you can't play your own game at even a decent skill level then how the hell can you claim to understand it?!
Just another professional BSer at work thinking they know everything simply because they're on the inside. Those of us that play the game at a much higher calibur are sitting on the outside looking in while shaking our heads and facepalming ourselves in disbelief..
