When someone d/cs or dies early on survivor, it literally ruins the game. Any competent killer will easily get a 4k before the three remaining three people can finish four-five gens. The entire game just feels like an uphill battle and you kinda lose motivation to even try to complete objectives.

I feel like every time a survivor dies or disconnects the gen requirement should drop by 1. This would even band-aid fix exploits like three genning.

If someone dies or disconnects early, the game should still give you a chance to escape as a team instead of turning into a hatch escape hunger games.

So you want more free passes when a survivor DC or dies early, why don't we just power the gates when a survivor DC. Survivors DC for no reason sometimes if you hit them first they DC, hook them first DC, don't like the killer guess what survivors DC.

I have a better idea add 1 gen onto the total amount for each DC it's not the killers fault if the survivors DC over small things, Yes sometimes you need to DC but a lot off times it's for stupid reasons like they got hit first.

Yeah, its kinda sad to see how much ######### is thrown at the Devs when a change is announced which people do not agree with. And every time without testing. Freddy, Doctor, Ruin... Every time the same.

I am even surprised that the Devs are still that active with their Community, when you see that people take the things they said in the Q&A and interprete them or change them. Or simply jump on the fact that one of the Devs thought that Leader was affecting Gen Speed (which is a mistake that can happen), completely ignoring what he actually said.

It's not so much the change but how they went about it and the reasons behind it in both the QnA and designer notes anyone could see it was for survivors, ruin is to hard for low rank survivors so we are going to nerf it, DR is annoying to play against so we reworked him go check the designer notes and you will see that's what they said, we are going to look into slow down perks more so not only did they nerf ruin but they want to go after the other perks that can slow down gen speeds.

But soon as a question comes up about helping killers they pretty much push it to the side and move on, so why shouldn't killers be pissed at the moment when all they are getting told it pretty much all your slow down perks we are going to nerf.

  • @ppo8820 said:

Lol they do NOT like having to work at getting kills in the game. For so long it was easy 4ks every game, but then things started changing. So now instead of adapting or perfecting skills, they just lobby dodge and complain on this forum. (Winners huh?) lol

Sad thing is they’re just screwing themselves over in the long run because as game evolves, they won’t be able to keep up as they never “got gud”.

And yet ruin got nerfed because survivors found it to hard to hit a skill check or find a totem and same for the DR he was to hard to play against, so what did survivors do run to the devs and ask them to nerf ruin and they did.

If your that bad that you still need to bring in a toolbox to do gens then maybe you need to learn how to do gens and hit skill checks, Why should a killer go into a match with say 3 people holding a toolbox knowing it's not going to be any fun for them and fun has nothing to do with the killer having to get 4k but a fun match win or lose.

Why else would you slug? I mean im not a good killer. i can get a 4k. I dont need to tunnel slug or camp for it. By all means explain to me what slugging is needed for. Besides giving a survivor another chance after theyve been hooked twice what else? Maybe im just going up against crap killers who use it to be toxic.

I'm sure there is lots off killers that can get 4k with out slugging, some do it to the last two to get the 4k to make sure they pip, other's do it because they want to or to be toxic, but trying to make it into a perk would really screw up the balance.

Sometimes you have to slug someone because there is someone right there trying to get the save so you have to take care off them then come back for the other person. Worst case they are all there so what else are you going to do apart from slugging them all pick one up just for them to wiggle out.

  • The same could be said about you asking for slugging to be a perk and where did i say you need to slug for a 4 k.

  • While we are at it lets make breaking pallets a perk to and to balance it survivors now have a struggle perk if they don't equip they don't struggle in the 2nd phase and just die

But survivors need to get off of the gens in order for Ruin to be effective. The Killer normally has a role in getting survivors of off gens by either directly scaring them off, or providing an injury, down, or hook that other survivors need to assist with.

This is healthier for the game. It teaches killers to manage their time better and think about regularly returning to gens mid chase against good loopers.

Ruin didn't need to be changed for killers to learn when to break off a chase that is something you learn the more you play same as survivors learning where to run to next to loop the killer.

How is it healthier when you have the devs saying if its a big map let the survivors have the 2 gens on the other side and now gens got put into easy mode, it might off been if along with the ruin nerf they adjusted toolboxes or even what a lot off people said not make it a hex, if it was a non hex perk then yes it would be healthier as it would off meant both sides having to work to win the match.

With the other nerf's to slow down perks coming they are only making it healthy for survivors what are they going to do drop PGTW down to 10% as 25% is to much?

“Even that part survivors no longer have to improve on how to do gens because one off the things that made it harder for them got taken out off the game.”

That’s because it’s not the role of a perk to make gen repair difficult for survivors. That’s the killers job. A perk is meant to compliment a strategy such as protecting gens, not totally be in lieu of needing to proactively be involved in that aspect of the game.

old ruin = while killer is chasing one person to down them then hook them ruin slowed down gen speed allowing killer to hook survivor and find another one sounds like it compliments the strategy off hooking a survivor which is the killers job.

new ruin = soon as a survivor sees a killer near them they hop off the gen and ruin kicks in so killer no longer has to kick it, works well with killers like Freddy and DR as you can fake going to a gen to get them off it or shock them.

Based on what you said the new ruin is taking the role of making gen repair difficult with out the killer really needing to be proactively involved in it as killers can no longer kick gens while ruin is up.

Let’s just pretend for a moment that Ruin never existed in the first place.

It’s universally known across ANY facet of life (not just in this game) that when attempting something new someone is not going to be very good at it to begin with. But after committing more time to practicing whatever that is, a person is bound to get better.

Its unreasonable for anyone playing this game to have an expectation that when they want to learn a new killer, or learn to get better at key fundamental basics in this game that they should be good at it straight away, and be easily killing survivors without accruing any loses.

It’s unreasonable to expect a perk (whether that is Ruin or any other perk) to reduce the games difficulty against survivors to a point that a player doesn’t bother to continue trying to improve how to play better.

Players need to get used to the fact old Ruin is gone. Unfortunately that means probably having their match loss rate go up temporarily while they have to relearn their preferred killers, and revisit strategies that don’t work, and what they should be trying instead.

That last part pretty much sums it up players will have to relearn killers and what combo of perks work now (players will have to do it again because the devs want to look at other slow down perks and nerf them) and in the process lose matches, depip, get gen rushed etc but that's fine.

Yet ruin got nerfed so survivors didn't have to learn how to deal with ruin and make there game more fun and easy, so it's alright for killers to have to learn/relearn things and in the process lose matches etc but survivors get handed a free pass from the devs.

"It’s unreasonable to expect a perk (whether that is Ruin or any other perk) to reduce the games difficulty against survivors to a point that a player doesn’t bother to continue trying to improve how to play better."

Even that part survivors no longer have to improve on how to do gens because one off the things that made it harder for them got taken out off the game.

It's fine to say one side has to learn things like the DR rework as you have to learn how to use his skills and when to use them, but with a big change like ruin that affects a lot more why should killers just keep getting a loss over and over while they try new combos off perks etc with no downside to the survivors.

The problem here is that this isn't a "one perk" problem, killers are starting this kind of conducts cause they perceive the Devs are survivor sided and they do this as a way to complain, it has nothing to do with them not being able to 3k+ without Ruin, it's about the meaning of the nerf, not the nerf itself

You pretty much hit it spot on there it's not about the ruin nerf it's how worded it in the designer notes and then how they responded to things in the QnA and when a killer ask them a question they just look the other way and not give a answer to it, They have pretty much come out and said they want to cater to survivors.

Good post i think some people missed the bigger picture of what you were trying to say i.e if you don't want the killer to bring a mori then there is no need for all 4 survivors to bring a toolbox now that ruin has been nerfed.

  • It's a killer sided bug so i would say give them a few month's then they might get round to looking at it then another few to fix it.

    How are killers suffering?!?!

I’m a Clown main, never use Ruin (or many gen slow down perks) on him and do just fine against Red Ranks. If I’ve lost, it’s not because I didn’t use Ruin. I either made dumb mistakes or the survivors were simply better players than me.

Killers need to stop blaming their shortcomings on the changes to Ruin.

Just because you might have say thousands off hours in this game and spent ages learning how to become a good killer doesn't mean the person next to you is the same, someone could off just started playing killer and was using ruin to get a good start to the match, some killers needed ruin more then other ones.

But i guess it's fine because you have learnt how to play with out ruin but new killers or people still learning who cares about them? we know the devs don't as they want to look at other slowdown perks but lets nerf ruin and let 4 survivors bring in a toolbox vs a new killer i think we all see how that's going to end.

Want to try a new killer and start to learn how to play with them to bad better stick to the killers you know and what perks work best with them, with ruin nerfed you don't have any time at the start to get going, set traps if need be or make it to other side off map. But hey even the devs said let the survivors get the 2 gens on the other side off the map.

Lets see the devs nerf DS, DH, BT and Adrenaline as bad as they did to ruin and then you tell survivors then same thing?

Who told you that I agree with everything the devs said? Oh yeah, I forgot people love to assume stuff in the forums.

I don't, all I'm saying though is if you come to throw ######### at the game instead of giving useful ideas to fix the current issues just leave lol

"I think leaving the dbd community would be the best thing for you to do, you clearly aren't enjoying the game and you're pissed at BHVR so😢🤣"

Now where did you say anything about giving useful ideas or that you do/don't agree with what the devs say and now your telling people if they are not happy with something they can't say anything bad about it and should leave the game.

If the devs screw something up like i.e DS at the moment or how they worded the nerf to ruin then they should be ready for backlash from people and people do give useful ideas the devs just don't want to listen to a lot off them. Just like the post you responded to the person suggested they need to focus on other things which are more impotent like fixing DS.

When you have them telling killers to leave the two gens on the other side off the map and give survivors 2 free gens 1. what were they thinking saying that and 2. its pretty much them saying tough ######### killers we need to hold survivors hands while they do gens and not give you a fair chance at the start.

Rank 1s were not the ones complaining about it, infact I don't think anyone was really complaining about it, the devs wanted to change it because like they said, it's hard to balance the gens when 80% of matches people are running ruin with another slow down perk and making it impossible to see what the actual issue is.

I can't remember the last time I actually read a thread about wanting ruin nerfed.

No one might off been complaining about it but no one can deny that they did it to help out survivors and make things even more easy for them just look at the designer notes about the change, If 80% off games were running it along with say PGTW it's not hard to see what the problems are.

Was it worded wrong by the people that wrote up the designer notes maybe but the QnA just confirmed a lot off stuff like they are going after perks that can slow down gen speed, To add to that they what to take away being able to synergize perks that can slow down gen speeds.

They are not trying to fix the problem they are just making it harder for killers and using that as a excuse, if they wanted to find the actual issue they should off nerfed toolboxes as hard as they did to ruin as that would off allowed them to get better stats and find out what the problem is.

As fixing the gens would off come down to perks and skill not items plus addons both sides might off had to suffer for a month or two but the end result would off been better for both sides where at the moment the stats they will be getting from this will be mixed and false. But that's just how i see it and how they should off handled this.

  • @Rasinbran said:

I mean I get it. You take time to play a game to get good at but in this instance it just made it harder for killer. So they can try different killers or strategies to combat this instead of being absolute babies about their ruin being gone. It's an easy adjustment to play without ruin.

It's not just the ruin nerf that are making people quit the game you say it's a easy adjustment to play without ruin but the devs didn't want survivors to learn how to play against ruin i.e perks, hit skill checks so they nerfed it.

it's how they are treating killers at the moment that are making people leave just look at the designer notes and the QnA everything was based on making it fun for survivors and less annoying, What about the killers what are they changing to make it fun for them and any time someone brings it up they just brush it off and move on to the next question.

Top that off with the plans to nerf slowdown perks for killers why wouldn't killers be pissed and leave the game?

  • @Seanzu said:

Not at all, maps definitely need to be made smaller, ebonies/iridescent heads/insta saw billies could use with some toning down.

But these things hardly make the game unplayable, the game used to have LITERAL infinites and killers still played well, it used to have instant healing mid chase, it used to have instant BNPs, it used to have instant mories and players still did well.

Players are just too lazy to actually play decently and instead stick their perks on and have an easy time, as soon as their crutch is gone they instantly know they won't be having their hand held.

"Players are just too lazy to actually play decently and instead stick their perks on and have an easy time, as soon as their crutch is gone they instantly know they won't be having their hand held."

I enjoy seeing people say stuff like that when the ruin nerf was done for survivors to make it more easy for them so pretty much survivors were to lazy to learn how to play against ruin so the devs had to nerf it?

  • @HellDescent said:

They said it's not intended for killer to have pressure on the first 2 of gens for the first 2-3 minutes of the game, he should just defend the remaining 5 on bigger maps

Pretty much if you have 2 gens on the other side off the map just to let them do it and not bother with them, next they will tell killers that we need to let survivors get saved as its no fun for them if they are on the hook.

People see what they want to see. Devs can't fix that about people, and most people can't even fix it about themselves :(

This is from the Designer notes,

"we felt it was time to revisit his kit with an eye to making it less frustrating to play against him"

"One last thing we've addressed is the frustration of using Snap Out Of It to drop from Madness level III to Madness level II. After the update, missing a skill check during Snap Out Of It will cost the player 25% of their progress instead of resetting it entirely. Also, if they stop the interaction before it's complete, they will not lose their progress and will continue from where they left off on the next attempt."

"Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better. "

    for the new ruin

"Survivors who are working on generators are unaffected as the perk no longer affects Skill Checks. "

So your telling me i just want to see that they outright changed things to make it easy for survivors but yet the proof is right there, maybe people need to stop acting like they are not doing changes for survivors they are even looking at making it so you can synergize slow down perks on killers but i must be hearing things even though they said that on there QnA?

  • @Cabbage said:

Hell no, if they play badly enough that they didn't catch me, then it's their opportunity to learn how different survivors move around. And they can learn to pressure other survivors, if one is too hard to catch, then find someone else who you can down really quickly.

Yet if a team played bad and the killer was able to get 3 kills there is a higher chance off the killer letting the 4th get the hatch, But you comment is gold ruin just got nerfed to make it easy for survivors instead of them learning how to beat it/counter it so i guess it's to hard for survivors to learn things but you want killers to learn how survivors move around?

Dead Hard is an exhaustion perk. And getting hit isn't a mistake. When you're in a chase, you're bound to get hit at one point. Also, hit boxes :D

And I also said "MOST second chance perks"!

I see more survivors use it when they make a mistake to gain some space so how is it a reward when the survivor makes a mistake. You can't pick which 2nd chance perks suits you its a 2nd chance perk or its not, DS the killer downs and hooks someone else while you do a gen in there face knowing they can't pick you up.

Even Adrenaline is the same you could play like crap all match and not do much and the killer downs you and is about to pick you up to hook you for the last time and Adrenaline kicks in.

DS gives you 1 min off the killer not being able to pick you up or they could go off and hook someone else and do other stuff for 45 seconds come back to you down you while your on a gen but DS is still active giving you a free escape. The nerfs killers are asking for is once your off a hook if they hook someone else or you start working on a gen then it's no longer active as that can be classed as your not being tunneled.

Next time maybe look at what people want changed about DS and not just think they want it nerfed, even if killers don't tunnel they still get hit with DS but you think that's fair even though they didn't tunnel, can't let the devs touch your 2nd chance perks and make the game harder for you but by all means let them do it to killers.

  • @Umbrae_pk said:

Killer mains are not happy with the game, I can tell.. Killer is hard to play, but I honestly think it's hard for only one reason. The lack of perks and having to grind for all the good ones. But that's a discussion for a whole different day!

But killers are just the worst! Like, they ask for all these nerfs to perks that survivors have, even though most "second chance perks" reward survivors for doing something that they deserve. Now this is where DS comes into the discussion. They complain and complain about DS yet they still tunnel, which is what the new DS is meant to prevent.

DS is a hot topic, but honestly stop asking for nerfs to this already nerfed perk if you're not willing to not tunnel. I use DS to not abuse this perk, but to use it.

I think I'm a pretty good survivor (heck, I better be for all the hours I have) and I can be chased for a very long time. Sometimes even the whole game, and I know that get killers frustrated. So when I finally get downed at, like, 1 gen left, I'm usually camped and tunneled. This is why I use DS. That's why everyone uses DS.

DS ins't the problem, it's honestly a solution! But killers only see it as "You get a free escape so know I'm going to tunnel you to death for that!"

even though most "second chance perks" reward survivors for doing something that they deserve.

You lost me soon as you said that what about DH is that a reward for a survivor making a mistake and getting a second chance?

  • @BloodyNights said:

I do believe that Mori's are far stronger than keys, at least when you tunnel someone and delete them right away. Usually when the survivors are down a player is when things start to go down hill. So knocking that out early almost guarantees your win.

That being said, Keys can make a killer feel slightly robbed, they might have had a tough time protecting the gens and managing chases, but set up a 3 gen lock. They know survivors have no chance of finishing the lock that they worked to herd them into that terrible position. Only for all the survivors to suddenly jump through the hatch and escape. Feels bad man. Though I don't think it feels as bad as being the first one found, and killed right away.

Would you say the same if they made keys a offering like mori's and not a item and would work the same way as mori's each color allows so many people to escape with that person. That is one reason why keys are stronger is because they are a item and one can be found in the match it's not like a killer can find a mori halfway into a match.

I didn't visit the forums for one day and the whole dbd community is on fire.

I hopped into some forums to see what's the deal, and everyone kept addressing the tiniest of details that the devs made during the Q&A.

Then, after a bit of meditation, yoga and a bit of visit to the fourth dimension, I came to the conclusion that the community is split to two. The 65% (maybe overestimated) that complain about the ruin/doctor changes, believing that the balance team heavily focuses on the survivors enjoyment rather than all player's and that they heavily focus on buffing them (survivors)

    On the other side of the spectrum, there are the 35% Bagging,calm spirits of the community that use logic in order to justify the devs decisions. These kind of people also do one of two things;

Either they make posts to calm everyone down/say their opinion/complain about the 65% of the community's behavior.

Or, they just keep calm, relax and watch the beautiful world of dbd completely on fire. Most of them, while eating popcorn.

So, in which side are you? I'm on the second if you couldn't guess. No, I don't complain about anything, I just state some facts :3

    Let me know below!

It's hard to use logic in order to justify the devs decisions when they outright say they are doing the changes for survivors, was it a case off bad wording and the patch notes poorly written who can say even in the QnA everything was to favor the survivors.

So how can you use logic to justify what the devs are doing when they are doing it for one side?

I'm a killer main but play survivor with a group. We are all red rank 1 survivors or have been at some time, so there isn't anyone better than any of us. We're all as good as it gets, as many players are.

None of us escaped a single match tonight and that has become a very common occurrence. In fact, of the last 10 times we have played, I'd say we have escaped maybe 2 or 3 matches out of the last 10 days of playing.

    It's extremely rare.

And we are in party, coordinated, and as good as it gets, so I can't imagine where these killers are that think the game is hard.

I am a killer main and there are a number of killers I cannot use because they're so OP I feel guilty.

Michael, Freddy, Leatherface, Trapper, Oni. In all fairness hillbilly is op, too but I enjoyhim so much that I play him anyway.

As a killer, I see just how OP the killers are and I can't understand why killers complain. Of my group, we are all killer mains who only play survivor together and we unanimously agree the game is waaay too easy for killers and waaay too hard for survivors.

Almost very game we play as killer or survivor is 4k, so where are these killers who are having such a hard time? As much as I despite the phrase "git gud", with as much as the game gives killers advantage, I can't help but think if you're having a hard time, you need to work at it.

And when a new killer is released, it should take you AT LEAST a solid week of daily playing to get a 4k. The Oni was 4ks on his first day.

What happened to working? Practicing. Try watching games as survivor after you die.

We wish we could get paired up with these killers who have trouble but all we get is 4k killers. Usually toxic and the devs enable it and do nothing to prevent it.

Kill all 4 survivors in the basement in one round. Gee, that's not going to inspire camping.

I love this game, but it is bittersweet.

It comes with such anger and frustration. The injustice of already OP killers resorting to exploits, shady tactics, and unsportsmanlike behavior is a constant strain.

This game has actually profoundly hurt my perception of humanity. Granted it's all happening during MAGA days and Trump's horde of bigots, but all I see every day is how selfish the average human is.

    No respect for others

    No consideration

    Just selfishness.

    It's dark.

I have noticed I'm not as happy when I play this.

And I love it so I really wish the devs would discourage that bullshit.

    It's an epidemic.

When a group of redrank 1 survivors play for hours without anyone escaping and it goes on for days... There's something wrong.

What I don't get is why our experience is all the same as eachother but so different than you.

What happened to working? Practicing. Try watching games as survivor after you die.

Why do that when the devs will just nerf perks for survivors like ruin and DR shouldn't the survivors work, learn and practice to overcome ruin? your telling the killers to get good but the survivors just get handed nerfs.

  • They won't give out that info the moment they do if any stats are the same for there reason for the ruin nerf people will want answers which they won't give i see more DS then i do SC but would be interesting non the less to see it, question is will they count all 4 survivors in a match as 1 if all running DS or count it as 4 times?

They got to keep up appearance that they are catering to survivor needs more then killers but they do listen to killers that's why we get 1 perk, toolbox nerf yer don't think it will be that much off a nerf if anything.

I personally loved when killers ran Ruin. I use Small Game and cleanse Ruin and NOED before it even pops. I think the problem might be platforms. The frame rate on console is lower and therefor its a lot harder to hit great skill checks. But PC is the only thing that matter, huh?

Even good skill checks work may take longer but the gen will get done and whats the excuse for console players not looking for the totem to remove ruin? so it's not just PC that matters and i said skill checks not great skill checks but i guess its to hard for console players to look for a totem or even hit a good skill check?

The post certainly was an indication of catering to survivors.

But so much is left out to what is going on now, to the changes and features complete in comparison to when they were first announced.

Again, back to my OP. I did say the devs should try and convey things in a more delicate manner, and try to avoid mistakes like this in the future.

Mistakes like that shouldn't happen at all there is no excuse for how they worded it, they knew what they put down and it passed what it needed to before we all got to see it and your telling me in that whole process no one said "this sounds like we are to  Survivor Biased with this patch we need to write it again".

They knew what they were putting out and how it sounded and they didn't care because if they did they wouldn't of sent out the designer notes like that.

But that brings back to one of my points.

It was often said Ruin was so irrelevant in high ranks, it was gone in 30 seconds, survivors just power through it and still manage a gen rush. That's what I find most confusing about it... so the perk is, pretty much the same right now? It's such a huge contradiction with this. New Ruin or old, survivors in the mid high to rank 20s survivors still get destroyed by this perk.

And the Doctor rework was entirely for survivors? Really? I mean, yes he's still pretty weak imo. But he is definitely worth playing him more now than before. So I disagree with the patch being entirely Survivor sided. Oh and Oni had a 180 on the flick changes too which isn't bad at all.

In the next mid-chapter update, we will be changing core elements of The Doctor's gameplay. He's been a polarizing figure since his release, and we felt it was time to revisit his kit with an eye to making it less frustrating to play against him.

It's the lack of action needed on the part of The Doctor to find nearby Survivors that makes it feel annoying to play against.

Just those two lines alone pretty much say they changed him for survivors and lets not forget this part.

One last thing we've addressed is the frustration of using Snap Out Of It to drop from Madness level III to Madness level II. After the update, missing a skill check during Snap Out Of It will cost the player 25% of their progress instead of resetting it entirely. Also, if they stop the interaction before it's complete, they will not lose their progress and will continue from where they left off on the next attempt.

Still think they didn't change him for survivors tell me what they changed that works in favor for the killers and not the survivors?

The difference is with the old ruin you had to power through it, hit the skill checks or find totem the new ruin you just do a gen like you would normally would and ruin only affects ones that your not on. But it was to hard for survivors to learn how to do skill checks or look for a totem.

    1. Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.

So instead of people learning how to play the game and beat perks like ruin i.e hitting skill checks they thought nerfing ruin to make it more easy was the way to go.

This version of the perk has many benefits:

    • Survivors who are working on generators are unaffected as the perk no longer affects Skill Checks.

And yet you still think the patch wasn't for survivors?

Ruin is still a thing, it's just different now. I love the term "gen-rushing." Always have. Do you want survivors to stop playing the game to hold the killlers' hand?

Well the survivors need the devs to hold there hand while they play to make sure they can do a gen because hitting skill checks or looking for a totem was to hard.

I completely agree. I feel that this game is a killer based game. Too many times I play against camping killers and tunneling killers only to die right away in the match. It’s absolutely ridiculous. And now with the change of the doctor it adds to the problems. He is absolutely way more powerful than before hitting survivors with his shock blast an extremely long distance away. Something needs to be done with the game to help out survivors a little more. I’m not saying change everything but at least give the survivors a little attention. Lately it’s been about helping the killers.

Lmao the ruin nerf wasn't enough for survivors you pretty much don't have to worry about it now and the DR rework was done for survivors read the DEV patch notes and it will tell you in there that they changed him for survivors. It should be the other way around they should be helping killers out i.e fixing the audio bug.

  • @Aura_babyy said:

This will mostly be directed to the Killer mains who have preven to be the most upset, as the outcry has snowballed from actual feedback to just plain nonsensical insulting.

*Survivors whined about Spirit and Nurse and they were gutted!

    - Yes, they were. Nurse and Spirit had the highest Kill ratio in the game, coincidentally, it was mostly because of ridiculously powerful addon combinations that just pretty much guaranteed you a win even if you were a potato.

*Survivors cried about Ruin constantly and that is why it was nerfed to the ground. You can hardly have a good match as a killer now because of gens going too quick. And some Killers needed Ruin in order to have a slight chance at the game ie. Clown!

    - Actually, Ruin was mostly complained about by both sides in amounts that are almost parallel to one another. Killers would complain that, A) Ruin was gone so early in the game. Or B) Good Survivors would just power through it, making it an useless perk against them. Survivors on the other hand complained about it's use in almost all of the games they played, and was a heavy punishment perk for mid to higher ranks ( most notably Console). As for Killers that "need" Ruin to get something out of a match, These are just Killers that should be the next target for reworks. I do not count Trapper and Hag as a Killer that needs Ruin though. They have extremely powerful late game potential and should make the most of it.

*Killers are the only ones to get nerfed, Ruin gets gutted and Survivors still have DS, BT, Adrenaline, and Keys!.

    - This is such an ignorant thing to say and you should never look at things for events that happen within a month - 3 month span. When Ruin was nerfed, hysterical killer mains fail to see what the future may hold and completely dismissed logical thought that changes to GENS or MAPS or how survivors INTERACT with gens would be introduced in due time. BHVR had made it known that with the changes to Ruin, they would be able to collect proper data and see where their focus should be at seeing as the players all have different opinions on it. By the by, if you take DS statistics and times it by X4, there is absolutely no way it should reach a margin of 45% use in ALL GAMES, Which was Ruin's percentage. Don't ignore what the devs could possibly be trying to achieve here.

*Devs are Survivor biased. No doubt about it.

    - Okay. This is a bit of an oddball one. This seems to change whenever each side is nerfed and the claims start to shift depending on what gets nerfed. In recent posts, a lot of people and some notable streamers have said that devs are really survivor biased. Now, the most common people you see from the BHVR team on the forums is @Peanits and @Almo . Whatever they post or respond to almost always seemed to be flagged as survivor biased or incompetency (being rude to someone who hasn't with you is what this was). I can assure anyone who bothered reading this that it is most likely not the Intention of these 2 lovely people to convey themselves as favoring one side. Could they change up their posts a bit so it is more polished and maybe cue in the playerbase as to more in the why and what the future plan is with an update is? Of course they can. But these are people, like us, that make mistakes and are not perfect or omniscient. We should also take note and remember that whatever Almo and Peanits say does not reflect the views of all of the development team. This is far too common of a bad habit, and we should look at past history as to why it's bad. Racial Stereotypes that were frowned upon and we managed to move past as a society is a good example as to why it's bad to place labels like we are doing now.

Anyway, Casing point... Can we PLEASE stop going at each other's throats, witch hunting the devs, and cursing those that wanna improve the game by just playing it and making constructive feedback?

I know it's too much to ask for people to leave behind the sarcasm and insults. This is not a thread meant to be provocative.

And for a different topic to think about while you are here. What's your favorite cookie? Mine are Oreos, they're devilishly tempting and I absolutely love them, goes great with any kind of milk.

Even if you look at it from your point off and the reasons behind your views that they might have something planned down the line why should killers be the ones to suffer while all this is going on while survivors get it even more easy now?

Even the devs have said this change was for survivors and people bringing up that Survivors still have DS, BT, Adrenaline etc is fair, while killers keep getting nerfs none off them get touched so while they collect the data killers are just meant to put up with the change as long as survivors are having fun.

*Devs are Survivor biased. No doubt about it

Read the patch notes that they posted about the ruin and DR nerf everything they changed was for the survivors, just look at ruin and how they nerfed that did they adjust anything to help killers out with the change not really. Why did they leave it as a hex knowing that it could be destroyed early on making it useless after that.

So instead of new survivors learning how to hit skill checks or find the totem devs changed ruin so they don't have to worry about that now and killers are meant to be happy with the change and get punished while they collect the data they need?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/122291/this-game-is-becoming-a-bully-simulator

I mean I'd hope killer was the least played role because 4 survivors and 1 killer are needed for a game to start.

I suggest looking up videos on how to run loops correctly as a killer or just play a killer that circumvents loops one way or another (Huntress, Spirit, Nurse, Freddy).

I didn't know BM = oppression lol (Killers can BM too btw)

Matchmaking sucks for both sides in the highs and lows. Not just a killer issue.

People shouldn't be forced into playing only a few killers if they want a chance to beat survivors, if someone want's to play clown they should be able to and feel like they have a chance at winning be it 2 hooks/kills.

The same could be said for ruin why didn't people watch videos on how to handle it be hitting the skill checks or looking for the totem and even DR how to counter his moves, yet the devs went straight for the nerf on both off them to make it more easy on survivors.

The killer is meant to be the power role take F13 took them ages to get it right and Jason was easy to bully around big time for ages till they made one change, they changed his rage so now the first half off the match the survivors can beat Jason up etc then soon as rage kicks in the tables turn and it's Jason turn.

The only two things killer mains are unhappy about are:

    1) Oh no, survivors get more items, nooo, not allowed.

    2) Well, if survivors decide to stealth during the endgame, it'll be boring.

I even edited the post because people weren't catching the idea (some of them assumed for some reason I wanted to give survivors an option to HOLD multiple items, that's completely wrong). The whole concept would give killers some time before gens are done and nice kills if survivors become too greedy. Isn't that what killers want? And nobody has said something against that point, only "ugh, survivors and MORE items? No thanks".

When killers get to keep there add-ons at the end off the match then this might be a idea to look into but until that happens with killers you can't just say killers get more time to kill as the only upside to killers.

Look at it from this view you come in with a toolbox and at the end off the match you leave with 2 while the killer will lose both add-ons, so the killer will need to equip 2 new add-ons or spend BP to get more to equip but you just walked out the gate with 2 toolboxes. So for the next 2 matches you have a toolbox even more if you leave with a 2nd one again while each match the killer is losing there add-ons and having to spend BP to get more tell me how there is balance in that and fair to the killer?

  • @ggezbaby said:

Coming from a killer main, maybe try not slugging the whole team in the first minute. I don’t blame them for disconnecting.

Your kidding why didn't the 3rd person run away and come back for the save instead of trying to blind the killer twice and then DC when that didn't work and they got downed, If they all want to hang around in the one spot like in that video then why shouldn't a killer down them all it was bad play by the 2 survivors and the killer had every right to use that chance to there advantage.

All your doing is telling survivors if they make a bad play/move that it is ok to DC, didn't get that blinded on the killer just DC when they down you?

  • @Fibijean said:

Well, I do care about the killer's experience and try to do everything I can to make sure they have a fun game, while also ultimately winning, when I play survivor. I do the same as killer. But that's just me, I'm not responsible for the actions of other survivors.

Also, lumping all survivors into one category like that and using it to justify discourteous behaviour is wrong on several levels. Firstly, it's totally unjust. The survivors in this match are not responsible for the bad behaviour of those you faced in the last match, and don't deserve for you to take out your frustration on them. Secondly, "they did the wrong thing so that justifies me doing the wrong thing" is not and never has been an acceptable argument from a moral standpoint.

You can camp and tunnel and slug and whatever else if you want to - as long as you're not breaking any rules, it's perfectly fine from a gameplay perspective, especially since many of those tactics do serve a strategic purpose. You are strategically justified in doing all of those things. But don't act like you're morally justified in intentionally disregarding another player's experience, just because "some survivors are mean".

Where in my post did i say "all survivors" i just said survivors which means more then 1 and gave a example of when i gave the survivors in a match i had a fair and fun game how they responded to it.

Then pointed out that it is a two way street if survivors want killers to play fair and with compassion and courtesy then they also need to do the same thing towards killers, Apart from the part i used as a example that happened to me the rest off the post was just in general context if survivors wan't killers to act one way then survivors also need to look at doing the same and not just treat it as a one way street.

  • @Fibijean said:

Tunnelling is one of the most effective strategies, as you rightfully pointed out, and there's nothing wrong with employing it from a gameplay standpoint (although you could get punished for it if the survivors are running perks like Decisive Strike or Borrowed Time). Survivors will struggle if they lose one or more teammates earlier in the game, so strategically, tunnelling makes sense.

However, it isn't much fun at all for the survivors, because whoever you tunnel barely gets to play the game before they're dead. If you can afford to play without tunnelling and still ultimately do well and win the game, it's generally considered best to avoid intentional tunnelling as a gesture of compassion and courtesy towards your fellow players, because it shows that you care about other players' experience, not just your own. That's why many people consider it unsportsmanlike, and some will go so far as to attack you for it (although those people are crossing the line, and should be ignored and/or reported, depending on the severity of their attacks).

In short, you can tunnel if you want to, because it does make strategic sense. However, most players do consider it good sportsmanship to avoid tunnelling if you can afford to do so, and therefore won't necessarily look kindly on you for using it to completely stomp the survivor team. Ultimately, it's up to you, but if you do choose to tunnel, don't expect the survivors to thank you for the fun game.

Lmao your kidding right do survivors care about the killers experience in the game and how much fun they are having, you go by there rules and not tunnel, camp etc and give them a fun game and all they do is teabag at the exit and trash talk in post game chat, it's a two way street you want killers to be fair to survivors and not tunnel or camp as a sign of compassion and courtesy towards fellow players because it shows that you care about other players' experience not just your own.

Then when are survivors going to act the same way towards killers and show compassion and courtesy towards killers to make sure they also have a fun game?

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

Friendly killers are Survivor sympathisers. That makes them as bad as survivors themselves. We should not tolerate them! If you are not part of the solution friendly killers, you are part of the problem!

Survivors: Teabag the friendly killers, shine a flashlight in their faces and point at them and laugh.

For that is what they deserve.

Then when the killer hooks you and camps you while laughing at you then you know why, if i get a match and 2 people DC i will let the other 2 do gens and get out while hooking them a couple times. It's not fair on them that they got screwed over because 2 people DC at the start off the match when i can try and make it fun for the 3 off us.

  • You left out a key to if anyone brings in a flashlight, toolbox, med kit and key just start to dc on them and just say it's not fun and they need to be nerfed it works for survivors.

The amount of killers I went against who dc'd because Ruin was destroyed, could not catch someone in a loop or got an inconvenient DS is off the hook.

Yea it's nowhere near survivor disconnects, but still happens.

It's a casual game afterall and if you're feeling competetive about it while failing to play amongst people who do so too, then that's your own fault really. I can understand some disconnects.

When you absolutely know that the game is going nowhere, you will depip no matter what and get next to no BPs you might aswell save yourself the time and head on to the next game.

You cannot ban this because nothing is at stake. If you were to start dishing out bans for Disconnecting I can see people leaving, thinning out the community even further.

IF there was a competetive mode, yes ofcourse, stackable bans for consecutive DCs like in CSGO for example. But in the current state of the game (which will probably not change for a long ass time, if ever) there is really no way you can enforce bans without people dropping the game.

Survivors love to think that they have to survive and escape every single time.

That's not even how I play the game. When I get a pip despite the fact that I died I still win.

Lorewise the survivor is endlessly trapped in this domain. "Death is not an escape".

Neither is escaping. This has not at all been made clear by the game or the developer and so you will find many newish players who, by misunderstanding this become frustrated and choose to save themselves some time to play another round.

Many interesting changes can be made to this game. I have some ideas, many many people brought forth great ideas. BHVR is too busy juggling the implementation of more cosmetics and trying to learn how to code in the first place without creating a proverbial Hydra of Bugs.

You missed what i was getting at if survivors say ruin is OP and want it nerfed so they start to dc whenever they get in a match with a killer running it, if the devs see a lot of dc when ruin is used will that be a major fact in there choice to nerf the perk.

Fixing the problem off people dc and causing killers and survivors to lose points etc is another thing

Freddy went from being one of the weakest killers to one of the top killers. I don't see many people complaining or dcing against him.

would you put him on the same level as nurse pre nerf nurse or spirit, he is better but still not a major challenge.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/829118#Comment_829118

There will be no game if people don't play survivor as well.

Why are you guys assuming that every killer will be nerfed in the first place? People don't really have much problems with other killers. Nurse was more powerful than spirit but people still complained about spirit a lot more because people hate going against her. Nobody wants killers to be trash.

more survivors dc then killers do i have seen survivors dc because they got hit first.

Buff one off the other killers that people don't have a problem with and see how long that last before survivors start to dc and want a nerf, lets say hag up her range bit time so she can teleport a lot further then she can now with out any add ons and her mark is a lot hard to spot and you have to remove it not just crouch past it, how long before survivors will want that nerfed because it is a challenge to face her. That's why they don't complain about them because they are weak and easy to go against and not a challenge.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/829092#Comment_829092

I think they would. If lot's of people dc against something there is probably something wrong with it in the first place.

That there is the problem it's not if its a killer, perk or addon it's that people are dc to get a nerf which might not be needed in the first place, just because they want the game to be more easy for them and able to do what they like. As much as survivors complain about killers the first rule off this game is there would be no game if people don't play killer, the way it is going people are going to stop playing killer because every killer is going to get nerfed.

  • @arslaN said:

I don't remember people dcing against nurse that much unless they were using omegablink or additional blinks.

    Survivors dc for 2 reasons:

    1- they are super salty

2- they don't enjoy going against something and they dc

The second reason is why a lot of people dc against spirit. Majority of people dislike going against her. That's not to say dcing is a good thing but it's why people do it.

The question the OP is asking and i have a feeling it has something to do with it is if all the dc are forcing the devs to nerf killers, if it's the case what if all killers started to dc when they went up against a swf group or a perk we didn't like going up against would the devs do the same and adjust the perk or how swf work?

  • ok entitled survivor keep thinking you have these rules that killers need to follow.

  • you must be a survivor that wants the killer to stand in a corner and wait while you heal, i just pointed out that if a survivor didn't bring a perk it's not the killers job to give them a free pass and act like they have DS. Like the person said above if they had time to unhook and heal why should the killer wait longer to give chase.

I don't tunnel or go after the person that just got unhooked i will go after the other person but if they are going to tbag because they got off the hook yep i'm heading right for you and hooking you again.

until you get hit with Borrowed Time and Decisive in the same chase

anti tunnel perks if a survivor plays with out say DS that was there choice not the killers, so the killer shouldn't give them a free pass because they didn't want to bring a perk.

  • A killer shouldn't have to go out off their way to make the game more easy for survivors and if you did and they got out i would say they would off said something like gg ez baby killer missing the fact that you pretty much let them get out, yes it sucks to be hit just after you got off the hook or downed and hooked again but that's your job it's their job to make it hard for you to do that.

"Your supposed to let me heal and go after someone else, it's called fair play" i would love for someone to show me where it says anywhere killers have to do that, we don't we can down them and hook them just after they got off the hook. Would survivors stop dropping pallets stunning killers to make it fair play for the killers?

I try not to camp or tunnel as it makes the game more fun but there is a few things that i will face camp someone or tunnel them, to sum up your question no a killer shouldn't go out off their way unless they choose to play like that. If survivors are going to unhook someone right in front off you, heal under the hook they are asking to be downed again and hooked.
