Sometimes I get called away from my game or I will leave because of other in game/ out of game reasons. I of course get a time penalty because I left the game. The problem I see with this is that the timer will never reset it's cycles. 2 minutes, 15 minuets, 30 minuets, 1 hour, etc. Leaving the game is easy as a survivor because you can just hook suicide, but if the killer wants to leave, it is not so easy. it saves time for everyone if the killer just quits rather than stay afk for 5-10 minutes. The issue is that the time penalties take way too long to reset, (or never do)
I feel like a simple solution to this would be to simply reset the timer penalty at midnight every day. Or maybe, for every 4 games you finish, you set the timer penalty back a cycle ( assuming you are already up a few penalties).
Thoughts?
I would 100% support the DC penalty to reset to 0 every 24 hours. I also like your idea to reduce by 1 penalty level per 4 games. I had not thought of that but it would be more fair to people who play a lot vs occasional players. The 2nd one may also be more fair to people who get penalties for host errors. Both of these would definitely be preferable to the system in place now. Currently you could play 20 games a day, DC once per day (not an unreasonable number) and by day 5 get a 6 hour penalty. For a Dc rate of under 5%. Ridiculous.
-
I liked the Hallowed Blight event. I think people complained that survivors ignored objectives to get serum but I liked having an added objective to work on, and it pitted survivors against each other a bit. It just added a little extra pizzazz to the matches.
-
I suppose the issue I see with this thread basically, is it does not outline what a good killer is (in the OP's opinion). I agree with this post, I am a high rank survivor and really enjoy a good, hard match. But that does not ever include tunneled off the first hook with 5 gens up. But from some killers' perspective, that play is called a "strategy".
So the definition of good is important and I try to play killer well. Which means (to me) working to equally, chase, hit and hook people, not to tunnel or camp, work all the objectives, including kicking gens, breaking pallets, etc. If you are doing that then everyone should leave with decent points and maybe pips even if you kill em' all there isn't much room for complaint.

If you're suiciding on hook, none of that matters to you. You don't care that it's giving the killer points, and you can speed through the escape phase, get to the struggle phase, and die very quickly.
It is a loophole.
Oh, a toxic AF killer getting points off my suicide bothers me a lot. But since I can't DC it is the only option. I think it is BS that killers can play however they want but if I want to leave my only option is to volunteer to give them more points. If you have ever read any of my other posts though, you will know that I 100% disagree with there being a DC penalty. Players should not be forced to play together for any reason.

I think this is an awesome idea.

You must not play Killer much, since I get it often, usually when its late at night. I hardly ever have problems with anyone in the day time, but at night, past 9PM, swfs are out in full force and I see it often. But yea, it must be my play style that induces other humans to rage about a video game, wishing me death and has nothing to do with them having horrible personalities.
If it is rampant for you it is probably not them. Do you just think they all have horrible personalities and you have done nothing to draw this wrath your direction? I will say that I do not play killer late at night, generally I get my killer dailies and rift stuff done during the day because that is when I have time. But I also don't camp, tunnel and slug which I assume helps me not have to deal with death threats.
-
I gotta be honest bro if you are getting this kind of end-game chat I think you should take a long look at your playstyle. I never get this kind of stuff. Maybe the GGEZ crap, but no one has ever wished harm on me or my family outside of the game. And I assume if you are reported enough you could get a penalty but I am not sure on that front.

It is not though. It takes 4 minutes to bleed out. 4 minutes is not considered "held hostage".
This falls under griefing, which has its own catagory just for reporting.
-
Distressing (for big terror radius)
Unnerving Presence (Trapper - for smaller skill checks in your big terror radius)
BBQ (Leatherface - Any one you don't see, might get picked up with static blast)
Overcharge - (Dr - Blowing gens left and right) and/or Pop Goes the Weasel (Clown - Good for gen slow-down)
I have a lot of success with this build but that is just my opinion. Have fun in the fog.

Regardless of the report status of the game play this is unacceptable on a lot of levels. This guy should be embarrassed he played this way, not showing it off as if it is some kind of accomplishment.

LOL I've never seen a survivor DC because the killer was AFK. Even time I've seen an AFK killer, survivors rush gens/totems/chests, mess around for a bit, then leave.
IF they did this, it's not avoiding an L, but no one does this. Your example is a fantasy.
Yeah, I completely disagree with your post here, but this guy saying survivors DC because it is too easy or something, has never happened in the history of ever. If you feel bad a killer is doing terrible and you have done all/nearly all the gens you go find them and give them hits/hooks maybe even a kill. You don't DC, that just screws them and yourself. And I am not even gonna address the AFK business, only an idiot would DC on an AFK match.
-
@thesuicidefox said:
I have no sympathy for you. Learn to take an L. You don't get better if you win all the time. I've been bodied as both survivor and killer before, but I don't DC. I take the L, learn from it, and move on.
There is nothing to be learned from a toxic killer face-camping your first hook or walking over you as they let you bleed out as a slug. DC is fine if you use it sparingly since this new DC penalty BS went into effect. You get a particularly bad experience head out, wait 5 minutes and hope for something better next time. And if I am on your team I do not care or blame you, you go with my blessing.
-
This clip really does nothing but paint you in a bad light. It is not funny, it just highlights the toxic behavior that killers in this forum try to claim does not exist. I have more issue with you following a slugged survivor and hitting him on hook that the business with the hatch. And following a slugged survivor can be reported for griefing if they recorded it, or submitted a complaint with your video, lol. So careful posting video proof of your treating people poorly, it could come back to gettcha.

Or is that only valid for hook suiciders?
You most certainly can force players to stay in matches they don't want to....DC Penalty. So now AFK and hook suicide is all ya got.
OP, no I don't think anything should be done about AFK killers. Survivors pip up like every match and get into red ranks no mater how thay play. So losing a pip is literally no big deal. It is much more of a situation for the AFK killer that any of the survivors.

Been awhile since I've shared one of these, but this is once again just a reminder... Just because you lose in a videogame, doesn't mean you should be an ass in the endgame chat. Take the L with abit of decency and just say GG. This lot were relentless with flashlight blinds, pallet stuns and head on stuns on Lerys...which against another killer and build might've been problematic for me. I'm sure you can figure out what went wrong for them.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FOCA6IAJDBY9/20200522095021-1.jpg
Why on earth should anyone tell you "GG" if it was indeed not a good game. I don't particularly think your build here is that sweaty so I am not sure why they are attacking that, but only 1 guy has a flashlight here. So unless the other 3 got real lucky with the chests I doubt it was relentless with the flashlights. And this post-chat is not spicy at all. Not a bad word, not racial/gender/genital slurs, nothing about your mom, nothing. I am not even sure why you are complaining.

Killers have every right to complain because the game is still survivor-sided (going on 4 years now). The map rework was a nice step in the right direction, but unfortunately map design is still abysmal.
The devs have A LOT more work to do before the game starts becoming relatively balanced.
And your claim about how the devs balance around high end PC players is completely false. I wish that were the case though. Because then the devs would realize how strong survivors actually are and balance the game accordingly.
Your right, because now killers only 4k 70% of the time and that is unacceptable. Until killers can 4k every single match the game will continue to favor survivors who just want to play too, but who cares.

Doesn't matter what it is, the truth is that crashes can be fixed which they will eventually and if cutting the amount of dc instances in half isn't justified enough for you when they literally ruined games than thats you mind set and i cant change it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1293031#Comment_1293031
That logic doesn't make sense, survivors are the ones who regularly dc yet killer start camping, tunneling, and slugging more? no that hasn't changed mate if anything the only thing i see that has gone up is hook suicides which is still better than a straight up dc. seriously that has no connection at all to players being scummy unless they suicide or if the killer is getting rekt they start camping which has always been the case so really nothing new there.
as far im concerned the amount of dc's from errors or server disconnects are in the minority of actual dc's and again can be fixed. reducing the amount of total dc's is healthy for the game, it has not increased the amount of toxic tactics or whatever thats just how this game is and instead of killers dc'ing they will resort to that so sorry if you cant get a free win from it.
edit: You will probably respond with it has increased the amount of body blocking or whatever for survivors and i know i said it but just clarify again IT has NOT increased the amount of toxicity of survivors, THAT is just how this game is. I can confidently say that since I know how survivors usually act since i have played this game shortly after its first year of launch, which would be about 3ish years.
This logic makes perfect sense. Prior to the DC penalty when you could just leave if you were being face-camped, hard tunneled, bleed-out slugged etc I feel that killer practiced a little more restraint knowing full well that going into complete d-bag mode would most likely end up with everyone just heading out to play some other match. But now they are fully aware that if you leave you will take the punishment for there unsavory behavior so they are free to camp, tunnel and slug with reckless abandon and know that very few are gonna peace out. As far as suicide, that is not any kind of behavioral deterrent because the killer still 4k's and does not give a crap how it was achieved.
As far as surviviors, I have experienced more survivor on survivor sweat since the DC penalty for most likely the same reason. They know that you are not gonna DC out of the match. So your only real recourse is spicy post-chat, not very concerning. I have played this game for 2 and a half years. I have been a red rank survivor many times but do not play killer nearly as much so have only been a green rank killer. But I feel that in 2000 hours of play I have a pretty good grasp of how things have progressed over the years.
I will also say that these are multi-dimensional problems and no one thing effects them completely. I am just noting a worsening in the behavior since the DC penalty implementation, not that it did not happen prior.
-
@AChaoticKiller said:
you not going to have those errors a lot and those can be fixed, if you are getting long dc penalties than maybe dc less so when you get a crash or something you only have a 3 minute penalty.
btw this is one of the best things the devs have done to address the toxic part of this community, a dc can ruin games and god did they do that constantly but now you see a lot less of people dcing early game or in general.
DC penalty was the worst thing the devs could have done to "address the toxic part of this community". Now that players feel like you are trapped in a match with them without recourse everything has gotten sweatier. Camp, tunnel and slug went up 100%, it is part of every single match. And other survivors are following you and pointing you out to killers, body blocking. It is a shame because this game was much more fun when people had the freedom to choose who and how they played the game. I have never had any issues with people DCing out of a match I am in. I could not care less. But I do care that every match is now filled to the brim with toxic behavior and you have to just suicide if you want out, killer gets a 4k (or last jerk survuivor gets hatch) which just encourages more toxic behavior.
And the real people taking it in the shorts for the change are the host error disconnects, who just want to play but are penalized because the servers aren't that great or reliable.
-
I think hitting a hooked survivor is rude and completely unnecessary, but so is teabagging and waiting at the exit gate just to run out at the a last second. None of these things is detrimental to the actual game. I do not think anything that does not actually prohibit game play should have any kind of penalty.
PS. Many a face-camp saves have happened because the killer was hitting the hooked person and gave the survivor nearby a window to offhook. So in some cases the only person it effects is the killer.
-
Wiggle time used to be shorter and got nerfed because of killers complaining that too many folks wiggled off. Now maps have been made smaller, hooks have gotten closer together and the survivors are like well could wiggle be better too. And this whole thread is screaming no way that would be OP. I have not wiggled off in forever, I get killers all the time passing 2 hooks to take me to basement and like some guy said above, even if you fill the bar there is a delay so you still get hooked. To throw survivors a bone in this vein they added a point value to struggling. But basically that was the devs saying, "We know y'all are taking it in the butt here, so here is a bit of lube." And sabo is pretty shabby now, the hook is back right away. So the only hope is to sabo while the killer is walking toward you and if he hits you it starts over, useless.

These matches were not played close together. The last screen shot your level went from 12 to 9. And there is a 68k point spread between the top two. So I agree whole-heartedly that match making is doodoo and this kind of match sucks balls. These examples were clearly cherry picked to prove a point. I will say that even as survivor it feels bad to get out of a match that went pretty smooth and find out the killer was over 10 levels higher than you, so you probably just came off as a dick in-game without even really meaning to.
-
Generally I get into a match in under 2 minutes as a solo survivor. I occasionally play with a 1 friend and as a 2-man group it may be a few minutes longer. But overall it is not bad at all. I tend to be on either mid-afternoon (PST) or after 9PM (PST). It takes longer late in the evening.

Translation: 'If you play in any way I don't approve, I will hook-kill myself & move on to the next game. I use this excuse to keep from admitting that I'm as toxic to the game as any DCer.'
I have no issue with DCs, players should not be forced to endure toxic behavior from others. So I equally do not have issue with people suiciding on hook. BHVR has left this as the only option against poor sportsmanship, and I employ it when necessary and save my DCs for special kinds of ridiculousness.

Killers playing the game does not make them a terrible person.
Jesus, do you hear yourself? You keep talking like you're taking the high road, but the things you say...it's ridiculous. They're "toxic dicks" if they don't play the way you tell them. They're "terrible people" if they make the strategic choice to chase someone you don't want them to chase.
You can't keep talking about respect when you view other people this way, I'm sorry.
Nope, I am with PigMainClaudette that playing with some basic respect is not asking too much. Everything in life has ettiquette attached to it and this is no different. When I play killer I adhere to just common decency because the survivors waited to get in that match same as me, they are trying to get points and pips same as me. And guess what I very rarely get any kind of blowback in post-chat regardless of the matches outcome.
I also do view killer as if I am hosting the party and survivors are my guests. Their enjoyment of the round is essentially in my hands, so this "it is not my responsibility to make sure someone else has fun" is a selfish and childish statement.
When I play survivor I do try to gauge how the killer is fairing and have and do give them a kill if it seems like it went real rough. I play with one other person about half the time and we have both given hooks to killers who were struggling. So my game-play is generally fairly altruistic to both sides.

It's not the killer's fault you have monkeys on your team
^Nor is it the fault of the solo survivor.
It is hard enough now going in solo, making it "useless to solo a gen in a reasonable amount of time" would just punish the largest group of survivors, solos, and push for more SWF. Which from reading these forum posts killers would like to avoid anything promoting SWF groups.
-
The number of 4 man red rank teams is actually quite small compared to the whole of DbD survivors so my guess is even though you may heva gotten creamed a time or 2 by a 4 man team, generally you are not going against that. And organized red rank survivors (team or solos) will eat a hard camper for breakfast. It is just not a good strategy for better game play. You would do better if you said I am gonna play insta-down killers, with NoEd and mori's who do not engage in chases, just patrol the gens like my life depended on it. At least them you would leave with a great score.

Yeah you have to submit it as a ticket and the video, but this player could get a ban. It is so disappointing when you get a terrible team mate. I have had a few, who go out of their way to get the other team mates killed. Just ruining everyone else's game for maybe hatch so petty.
-
I think the survivor percentage gains are too high. But overall I like the concept. It encourages better , more strategic game-play for both camps. I would also make the larger radius the longer seconds and maybe make that a bit longer. So 8 meters/ 8 seconds, 16 meters/ 12 seconds. The killer may have legit business near a hook like kicking a gen (3 seconds+ walk time) or pallet breaking etc. So the longer time gives some general business leeway.
I also really appreciate that you came here with a solution to a problem. I am all good with people airing grievances on the forum but it is nice when they also bring ideas for change to the conversation.

I don't see anything wrong with your build. MoM is rare choice after it's nerf but you explained your choice. The other perks are fine. All indoor maps suck for nurse spirit hillbilly and oni. They are the top 4 killers and have the mobility. This means even if they win on these maps which sucks for them they still can't patrol the doors. Survivors escaped through the doors about 4 times against me today. And I closed the hatch 4 times. I lost about 10 kills to the hatch as well. Meaning out of 18 games I 4kd 4 times when I should have 4kd 18 times.
The very last sentence really tells you what you need to know about this guy. To paraphrase "Outta 18 games I should have 4k'd 18 times." No, that is not the game, that is not balance. And if you think it is, just ask devs to completely eliminate survivors and kill NPC characters all day long. Killers are not supposed to 4k every game, that would not be a game at all.
And the hatch and EGC as is is already massively killer sided, so your comment that "Besides why shouldn't it be strong for the killer" is irrelevant because it already is. The killer can freely move about the map and generally sees the hatch before the survivors if it takes longer than 2 minutes to pop the last gen. So more often than not it is immediately slammed upon opening. The doors also spawn very close which w/o a hatch option would take a 15% chance to survive in a 1v1 end game situation to about 0%. And as someone else already pointed out speed killers are already boosted for EGC.
You also can't control your team mates, and being the last survivor does not mean your team was bad or potato. Maybe you been in that match for half and hour and it was hard fought but the killer finally whittled it down to 1. Maybe you are a solo player and your team was terrible or the killer systematically camped/tunneled and slugged your team to death. Just because a person survived until they were the only one is not necessarily a reflection on the surv team or the individual or the killer for that matter. So this "last survivors deserve to die because they are the last, is a bunch of BS." And if people are leaving out the door in EGC or even last man hatching it up, the killer didn't win. They were mot cheated out of a win. They were not denied after they "won". You just didn't 4k. Which in the instances we are generally referencing (where only 1 escaped) you did win. A 3k is a win. It is more than half, above average. You were not swindles by anyone, the last guy just bested you.
My proposal to keep the complaining at bay is to stop letting the hatch spawn before it opens. Once the match is down to one survivor it spawns/opens simultaneously and it could not have been scouted out ahead of time. It also would mean that keys were only useful after a killer closed the hatch and only a single person could use it, so it would cut down on 3 people suddenly peacing out of a match. More fair for killers against a bunch of people getting to leave, more fair for the last survivor to have a chance to escape.

And then..... the last one escapes. For free.
No key, nothing, just.... gone.
You used to have to get 2 gens done to open the hatch.
What the heck is this god awful survivor pity party that we've got now?
If you killed the 3rd survivor and still had 5 gens up, literally no one in that match was having "a ton of fun" except you. I do not for a second believe there was no camp, tunnel or slug. Unless they were all AFK except the last guy. This guy most likely deserved hatch more than normal because he obviously managed to survive what sounds like a super sweaty round. Indeed is survivors fault lol! I facecamp with my p3 bubba and its really funny to do! I also dont mind getting 5k per match, i already have the perks and i dont use addons. And about the pips, call me back when you have a rank 1 reward! This is a casual game.
^^^This is the guy ruining for everyone else.
That being said, I don't think pretty much anything in this game should be bannable (except actual cheating like hacks). I think the devs should develop an in-game penalty for face camping. Like lower points, reduced movement speeds, blindness, whatever but a ban from playing is not a viable solutiuon. I don't think it works for DCs already. Every day there is a new post about the DC penalty railing some poor guy just trying to play. I think in-game issues need in-game solutions.
And anyone on here complaining that survivors teabag, who gives a crap. Teabagging does not stop anyone from playing the game, does not effect score or pips. I also see the comment that survivor run in and offhook "all the time" right in front of the killer. I play survivor every single day and this is just not true. Do survs get farmed, occasionally. More often the situation is the killer is camping the hook giving the team no choice but to go in while they are "standing right there". And any killer whose perception is that survivors are offhooking "right in front of them" all the time should look at there own game play. It is most likely not the survivors.
-
Slugging is BS and this guy is right. I DCd just today on a Ghostface that slugged every surv in my match. When he got to me I was like nope. I get so tired of hearing folks in here defending poor gameplay as a "strategy", nope just folks being toxic dirtbags. I will give you the Myers and Oni only have a limited insta and such. But that is far from the majority of when and why slugging is going on. Today there was zero excuse for slugging everyone in the match. After every hook. zero.

However, that doesn't mean you don't want to win at all. Just don't expect to win when playing killer.
I think some of the issue is folks perception of a "win". If you go in expecting a 4k every time, it is going to be disappointing but really if you have a high score, win, got silver or better emblems, win, killed 2 survs, win. Had a positive post game chat regardless of in game stats, win. If I leave with ruthless killer or above at the end I consider it a win.
Survivor same strory, did you pop 2 gens, get all the totems, engage in some good chases, save a team mate? There are a lot of metrics to look at to feel good about a match. Not just escape or not.

Because BHVR can't fix their bugs they should not have a DC penalty system, period. Find another way to punish players for unsavory game play that doesn't cuck folks who just want to have a good time but continually get the boot.

The only rift challenges I have issue with are the ones promoting toxic game play. I tagged out on the flashlighting one, I never use flashlights because I know they are universally hated. I also think the kill everyone in the basement and such is not cool. But most are benign and add a little extra flavor. I do see the original point though, that it may distract folks from doing the actual objectives. And can cause some bad blood when it says in one trial and multiple players are vying over a limited resource. I have no issues with Dailies, except maybe that I am a survivor main and get only killer dailies. I get a survivor daily like once every 6 weeks.

Hag for sure, she would be super blendy in the jungle, she had traps and with a mint rag she can teleport between them. I think she could lay some serious waste in a jungle war setting.

I just got done playing a map called the game? On a laptop and I literally couldn't see anything down stairs as killer.
I took a survivor to the basement on the game map and ran into the wall trying to get back u the stairs and got turned around, went to the back realized my mistake and finally got back out. It was so dark I could not see where I was going. I have to assume I looked like an idiot to the guy on the hook as I blindly ran into walls down there. Oni's map seems real dark to me too.

Congrats on showing you didn't read the thread at all. You are wrong. The op in that thread jedi, show these pictures, the sames one i am showing you down below. Proving Lal and you are bloody wrong and are bias as heck, who just want to blame all the worlds problems on killers and promote a in group vs out group mind set. For you can't treat people as people and can't possibly think people disagree with you. For if they disagree with you, of course they must be part of that bad bad nasty outgroup. Yeah clearly a killer main will spend more blood points on their survivors, than they would their killers. This is why Lal got called out. For he added nothing to this topic and ignore the main point. Certain people who happen to play Survivors, who are inexperience not knowing what they are talking about and blaming killers for their own lack of skills. Ignoring all of this, just so he can bash on killers again.

I already went and looked it up. And the thread had not gotten this far when I had read it, so it was not a matter of not reading the whole thing, this was not even there when I was reading it originally. So I guess bro is just a liar. I have to be honest your points are not the easiest to follow. I assume you are telling me that I hate killers and am looking for an excuse to bash them? You are welcome to read through all my commentary on the forums. I champion fun, fair game play, and that is neither killer or survivor oriented generally. I have rallied behind all perks and offerings both killer and survivor. Stating in many posts that mori's and keys are just fine and why. That NoEd is not a problem and DS is A-ok. You will find that my main issues are the players toxic behavior. Survivors selling out team mates, incessant flashlighting, face camping, 4 man slugs etc etc etc. So I am not "biased as heck" is what I am getting at here.
To address this other thread. This guy clearly states in his 1st entry that he likes being tunneled and camped and that is just ridiculous crap. No one likes waiting in a 10 minute lobby to be camped out of a game in 2 minutes. I do not care what this guy generally plays , my point about his entire post was that his claiming that getting camped and tunneled was somehow fun for him was complete bs. And anyone who has been a survivor for longer that 1 match would never say such a thing. His post is just troll bait bs, and just emboldens poor sportsmanship.
Lalythia and I are also high ranked survivors and have been for a long time. We have both played over 2 years and have a combined 4000 hours. So insinuating that our opinion about anything in this game comes from being inexperienced is false.

If you read the first two pages of that thread, which i doubt you did. The op shows a picture of him spending more blood points on his survivors than his killers. While Lalythia called him a killer main, saying there is no way a survivor main would think like that. The op of that thread show proof on the second page that Lalythia was talking out of his rear. Which you clearly ignored. Due to not reading the full thread.
That and Lalythia just show his bias against killers again. He ignores what a whole thread is about just to go killers are bad. For he can't get it, that killers are people to. That not everyone who plays killer is part of some hive mind.
I play survivor main and use the bp to blast through my killer blood webs, that does not make me a killer main, even though most of my killers are level 50 with 2 prestiged. And the sentiment that a survivor LIKES camping and tunneling is not true, no matter how you paint it, that guy was at least a liar at most a killer main stirring the pot.

I do put it off for a bit if I can but I really don't understand the argument against cleansing. If you stay injured you are a one shot the entire game, if she gets red vomit she can projectile you down. Either way you are down in 1 go, so kinda doesn't matter much. I am with the other folks here, kinda just do what the round seems to warrant.

This can not be a legit inquiry. The whole premises of the game is hook and offhook, the majority of the score system is built around this mechanic. There is never going to be a round with players 18 or under that result in zero hooks. So just asking survivor to not get hooked is ridiculous. Also the survivor is not at fault for the tunnel, they are just hanging there. This question seems to somehow place the killers behavior on the abilities of the survivor, which have no direct correlation.
