Um, this shows that almost half of all survivor groups are collectively 2-4 person SWF. Yes, solo is slightly higher, but that's a far cry from "vastly".

The guy was arguing that 4-man SWF is now outnumbering solo survivors, it is not. Vastly, not.

  • The quickest matches I am ever in are killers chainsawing every one to slug form and then hooking at their leisure and has nothing to do with survivors doing anything. The longest I am in are survivors 3 genning themselves with ruin still active. But the pace of the game is really dependent on both sides, for killers to drag it out, gens need patrolled and kicked, so get off the camp and do some rounds. For survivors pay attention, heal your team mates, keep track of what gens are done where. It is fine to leave one undone to get one across the map 1st, strategize just a tad.

I think the new gen times will change this a bit. But I do not think we need more gens.

  • I have a few questions because the answers were a bit vague. Why would I send hate mail after I won? and I assume this means in post-chat not like stalking streamers or profiles but I guess it could be all of the above. I said sometimes, but it would be restricted post-chat, I don't search for people beyond the match, that would be weird. And hate-mail like "Why did you tunnel me to death?" or like "I would have been your Dad but a dog beat me over the fence." I keep my chat match relevant.

I will also say I have been known to get on fellow survivor team mates for being ridiculous to killers who maybe didn't do real well. I will tell them that this is why they get face-camped because some cocky survivor was all GGEZ, baby killer in the previous round.

Lol, i'd have to actually look at the lobby to find out someone has a Key.

To put it more seriously: I do other stuff while the game loads me into a match, so i won't see who plays as who, who brings what, etc.

Me too, I generally don't know what they brought.

I’m on console so the pc based statistics mean nothing to me, and I’m going off what I play against, it’s easy to see if people are swf on ps4 just gotta look at friends list or followers to see if these people are friends on psn. So again statistics I would like to see exactly as those numbers are happening because they can be padded to fit the narrative.

That graphic show statistics for xbox, ps4 and pc.

  • I would not say Legion is op. He is a waste of everyone's time, boring and I would not miss that entire chapter if they deleted it, but not stronger than at least three-quarters of the other killers.

I'd be very interested in what that chart looks like if you change it to only show games where the average rank was between 1 and 10. I strongly believe that chart is muddied heavily by the low-rank solos

Lol, ok buddy. I guess proof is not enough. I have not been over rank 10 in forever (been playing about 2.5 yrs) and I am a solo survivor, I generally sit around rank 5. I have never all 2.5 years been in a 4-man SWF. I have one friend I get on with once or twice a week. I am the norm, not this made up idea that if you are getting owned it is clearly 4-man red rank pros. Most SWF are a mix of levels anyway.

  • I used to very much, my feelings have cooled considerably in the last year.

  • I voted yes but not for the reason given, I have great connectivity and very rarely have loss of connection issues. I think they should reset, at least every 24 hours, because players should not be being penalized 2 days later for a DC. That is ridiculous for a game you bought and paid for. I have no problem with people DCing, it does not ruin my game. And I have been in matches where SWF left and I was alone. I don't care, it changes the dynamic a bit and on we go. I also don't think players should be forced to be anywhere they don't want to, it is a game not a jail. I think any ban for DCs is ridiculous. They want to go, let them.

I will say that this polls options are a bit leading. I try to make polls sound more unbiased even though I obviously have my own thoughts on any matter.

  • Corn already got a nerf, and survivors don't like that all corn map either. You get a huntress or a deathslinger someone with range and there is no where to go. It used to be darker and have more color variant, you couldn't see a Claudette in there if you tried over her.

  • Hot tea, but not every day. Mostly in winter and when I am sick. Iced tea is the work of the devil.

  • I have seen a few great things over the years, of course examples are hard on the spot.

Had a great match that ended with one surv against the killer, chase lasted a long time, killer is closing in and suddenly the surv stops and throws a rock at the killer. Everything froze, it had been so tense until that moment, then it was just hilarious. We had some great laughs in after-chat.

Have seen a few matches where the killer or survivor decide their own objective. I watched a "survivor pig" where the pig just ran around faking at gen repair and totem breaking. The killer continued to run after survivors like they were friends yelling "hello". I saw an "amnesia bill", a streamer that spent a whole match wandering around asking the other survivors if they had seen his cat. Those offshoots of regular games can really bring in some fun.

It is the people who bring the laughs and the fun. As far as just the community like this forum, less so. But I still enjoy the random character costume art and the weird pizza polls.

  • I use Small Game all the time. I have heard on here that Detectives Hunch may be better, but I don't have the Detective. But I use it every game for hag and trapper, freddy blood puddles, totems. I like it a lot. I also like Empathy, being able to see injured survivors lets me monitor chases and know where to head to heal team mates.

Okay so we should punish killers for poor survivor saves? "Tunneling" comes from "Tunnel Vision". But, let's say that you're right, and tunneling is "hitting an unhooked survivor". Now, in order for this to happen the killer needs to be close by the area of the hook. Which also means the "saver" is just going for unhooks without thinking that the killer WILL turn around and down them again and go after you. Why should the killer be punished for the "savers" poor judgement? I've been unhooked in front of the killer more times than I can count, and I NEVER thought it was tunneling. They're doing their job, and you made it easier.

Think about wolves or lions for example, do you know what they hunt for? The weak, sick and the young. They go for the easiest target, not the strong and difficult one. So you expecting a killer to go for the "saver" rather than the already injured person, is just an excuse for poor choices.

Granted there are times when you don't have a choice, but those are uncommon. The most common mistake by survivors which is blamed on killers is poor hook rescues. And it probably happens in 90% of your games because you're unhooking a survivor next to the killer or your team does it to you, and you automatically blame the killer for your team's mistake.

This isn't to be rude or accusatory to you, but just to show you a different perspective. If you look at what you said differently you may notice you're trying to accuse killers of being unfair for doing their objective. Minus Camping/Tunneling (how I explained them). Slugging is a different thing altogether, but there is slugging I'm okay with and slugging I believe ruins the game. There's a fine line with all three of those.

For starters, it is not the hooked survivors fault that a team mate, and likely a rando, got them off the hook in front of a killer. So to you, Why should the fresh offhook be punished by the killer for an action completely out of their control. Second, what are survivors supposed to do when every hook, in 90% of games, are getting the  proxy camp. And now maps are getting smaller. Killers like to say, "They should not have gone for the hook in front of me." but if you never leave the area there is no other option. And we are human beings,  playing a game, not wolves fighting for survival. You make a conscious choice to ruin another human beings match when a killer repeatedly goes after a freshly offhooked survivor and does not let them even play. I  play killer too, and I don't tunnel fresh offhooks, I don't hang around hooked survivors, and I don't slug survivors down so I can leisurely hook em all for the 4k. Most likely because I survivor main, I don't  participate in  poor sportsmanship when I am in a killer match. And you know what, my score does not suffer for it and I avoid 99% of negative after-chat.

  • Someone in the forums once wrote: "If I heal someone and don't get a thank you teabag I will let them die!" Until that moment I had no knowledge that I was supposed to be thank you teabagging.

Bro the majority of all games are SWF now. Pretty sure you can hunt down the time where it was finally admitted. SWF is the status-quo, not randoms. The game does not even attempt to reflect this but that is the case now.

The whole time SWF was the minority nothing was done, and now it's the majority even less will be done because it's a cash-cow.

People using comms so you can't mind-game because someone uses object of obsession, people calling for help so 2 people come bodyblock or follow with a flashlight to ensure you can never pick someone up, people stacking DS intentionally with unsafe unhooking to prevent anyone dying during EGC, this is the norm and it's why the wait times just keep going up and less people want to play killer. Every single time Killers developed a core meta, it has been nerfed and obliterated from the game. We had one killer left who had the mobility to cover gens on non-coldwind-farm maps, the nurse, and she got nerfed to oblivion for being the last effective killer too.

This is a post from Feb of this year, from a Dev:Community Manager with statistics in how many matches are SWF. Vaslty less than solo survivors. SWF are not the majority by a large margin.

So you say camping/tunneling occurs "almost every single match"? So what do you consider camping/tunneling?

Camping - Is the killer staying CLOSE to a hooked survivor. Definitely not a solid strategy, because it ruins everyone's experience including the killer's.

Tunneling - Chasing a single person until they're dead. Now, if some stupid survivor is going to unhook near the killer, it's not tunneling to go for the injured person first. However, if this killer ignores people they find anywhere else and ONLY searches for a specific person, that is tunneling.

Camping happens MUCH more frequently than tunneling. But the problem is people have begun to say chasing an injured survivor instead of going for the rescuer is tunneling, which just isn't the case.

Tunneling is hitting/chasing a fresh offhook. And Camp/Tunnel/Slug is 90% of matches I am in these days. Just tunneling those fresh offhooks, slugging them to chase down the offhooker. Rinse and repeat. It is lazy, cheap gameplay but I agree that at least some of the problem is survivors and killers being able to pip is vastly different.

  • @Peanits said:

To your point, yes, it's absolutely about managing time. The second it's not about managing your time, there's something seriously wrong. Both sides have a limited amount of time to do their obective; the killer needs to kill people before they finish the gens and escape, and the survivors need to finish the gens and escape before they're killed. The moment either side doesn't have a time constraint and has the luxury of doing their objective at their own leisurely pace, there's something seriously wrong.

If you don't want to feel like you're up against the clock, that's perfectly fine, you definitely aren't forced to. If you'd rather play the game more casually and not focus so much on winning, you'll naturally end up in the lower ranks with other people who are just looking to play for fun. If you are hanging around the red ranks and expecting a casual match, that's not very likely and probably shouldn't happen.

The issue I see with your last few sentences is I do want to play more casually but it is so easy to pip as a survivor that I am in red ranks before I know it. To be honest I used to use DC to stay in green but that is no longer an option. So I would champion it to be harder to rank up as a survivor, because I want to be a 9, not a 4.

Not my problem to worry about other players. I paid money for this game too. The issue of balance and fun is solely up to the devs, not me. It is not my responsibility to provide you with fun. The devs have also stated that their goal is to make this game frustrating.

Spoken like a true killer main, "It's all about me"! Killing this game is what you are really doing. Go play a game with NPC's if this is your real attitude.

You miss the point that DbD is a 4v1 game... If I as a killer am dominating a game why would I allow the last survivor to even have a chance at hatch? See, trying to put the game in terms of "in a 1v1 scenario..." no I'll stop you there. The killer is supposed to kill the survivors... I thought we established this? I believe I've already explained before that the hatch practically spawns on last survivor about 90% of the time if the gens have not been done far enough for it to spawn prior as well. It's not toxic, it is a strategy just as survivors loop killers. Consider this, hook a survivor and leave now any other survivor can stroll up and they are instantly back into the injured state taking off. Leaving a survivor slugged causes their team to have to heal them which takes much longer especially when there is the potato that keeps crawling. You have the instant method of saving or the delayed and as killer you want to delay as much as possible. More chaos in a match occurs with slugging versus just hooking as well. It's not about cheating them out or not allowing them to play when they just funnel over to the killer. Do you know how many survivors will get saved off hook and then either hide nearby (where I can hear them) or literally run right into me "hey kill me please man!"... Am I not supposed to hit them or something?

By "coordinated team" I am not referring to a 4 SWF group that's unneccessary. There are plenty of people that know the game well enough to play as a team without actually communicating. Just saying Borrowed Time also exists... body blocking happens plenty... you could have someone or multiple people on sabo duty... all examples that could prevent a tunnel. It doesn't only take a SWF to win in DbD although you have the best chance obviously that's any game.

Imo I don't believe you play much killer and you're talking mostly from some frustrating survivor experiences... Unfortunately most people will tell you killer is a much more frustrating role, because it is. Survivors seem to think the solo killer against the team of players should abide by some nonexistent rules, some "gentleman's code". Meanwhile they are bagging at the exit gate at the end of the match. Only the killer needs to "follow the rules", they don't apply to survivors. Telling a killer not to slug in the higher ranks is like telling a survivor not to loop

Etiquette rules apply to both sides, not just killers. And I go play killer when I have had more camp, tunnel and slug then I could take. I hear claims that killer is so stressful on here all the time (although you hear it is easy too, so depends on the post). But the role with no movement restrictions, with the ability to attack any other role with no concern of retaliation and faster speeds than every one else is not the stressful role. So I go do all my killer dailies and such to relax a bit, and it is a bit exhilarating to be "it" in the hide and seek game. But even at a high level I have no trouble with a 4k and often restrain my play so we all have a good match, not just me. Because killer is easy.

Slugging #3 to get a kill on #4 is not "toxic". It's a legitimate gameplay strategy that's perfectly within the rules and isn't being done just to harass someone or waste their time.

Slugging #4 just to stand there and annoy them for a prolonged period of time IS "toxic". The killer is just being a jerk at that point, there's no reason to be doing it.

Very different situations. People on this forum really need to learn how to differentiate between things you don't like and things that are "toxic".

100% Disagree, both are toxic, lazy gameplay. I am so tired of hearing ridiculous killer behavior defended by the statement "It's a strategy". That can literally explain away every moment of poor sportsmanship in this and every other game.

  • @BlueSwifts said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1226147#Comment_1226147

I believe you are taking this idea of "objective" in the game and trying to be too in depth. Like, "the killer walking around the map is an objective!" or something. Take a few steps back, the killer is literally supposed to kill all four survivors while all four survivors try to escape. We don't need to say "you need to hit them! survivors need to run!" I mean come on -.- The killer doesn't win because they kicked a gen. The survivors don't win because they pulled someone off a hook. If you wanna say blood points are an objective, well no it's the progression system. But why do we get vast amounts of blood points? To get stronger builds to either sacrifice the survivors or to help survivors escape.

Slugging is not "poor play" nor is it toxic these days. Many games you will find yourself needing to do so if you're really going for the 4k to begin with. Take the third guy and spirit them away, now the fourth gets hatch... That's just one simple scenario I'll gladly offer more as will others 😉 Tunneling is also a pretty ineffective strategy in the long run. If survivors are coordinated to begin with then protecting the tunneled person isn't impossible.

Gen rushing very much exists, no one is here to call it toxic or anything. The gens just get done too damn fast! Did you know that speaking in the most optimal scenario, the gens can be finished in just under 5 minutes... Yeah, and survivors were upset when high rank killers would run Ruin every game which got nerfed...

Well to touch on your last point, play style is the point of toxicity in any game... I don't get this point being made here. Just sticking to DbD for simple examples sake: If a survivor throws down a pallet which offers me the killer head trauma and then starts bagging, why? That's just toxic play and any survivor bagging my Ghostface should expect to be slugged and bagged for twice the amount of bagging done to me, I'm counting 😤

Slugging survivor #3 so you can 4k is 100% toxic. It is a lazy killer who doesn't want to have a fair match. The 4th survivor should have a run at the hatch. That is the 1v1 aspect at the end, the sliver of chance to still get out. Slugging #3 is just a cheap play to cheat #4 out of a fair end of match.

Gen rushing is not a thing, it is a survivor objective to work gens, it is the killer objective to kick them and chase survivors off. The killers need to engage in destruction, chase, hit and sacrifice. 4 objectives, not "just killing". Survivors need to be altruistic, finish gens, break totems, engage in chases as objectives. Blood points are this games currency, literally the only reward that matters. You can not buy a character with a pip. And to tunnel and slug survivors throughout the match and cheat them out of the opportunity to even play the game while claiming "it is a strategy" is ridiculous.

Teabagging is toxic behavior, I was not limiting my reference of toxicity to killers. So is flashlight tag teaming and such. Before the toolbox/sabotage nerf, 4 man SWF sabo builds were fairly crappy (although kind of a gray area as far as toxic, at least an exploit). You also stated that a "coordianted team" could rotect a erson being tunneled. But most teams are not 4 man SWF, I am in there together with 1 other erson sometimes, and there is really no excuse to tunnel whether team mates can block or not.

Excuse you? You don't speak for all survivors or all Killers. I'm a Killer main (Wraith of course) and I just want a match that takes skill, effort, and brainpower to win. And if i'm being greedy, I wanna stop being called a tunneler and a camper and a tryhard when I get more than one kill.

If you are being called a camper, tunneler and try-hard after a match it has nothing to do with number of kills and everything to do with hanging out and the hook and tunneling/slugging survivors. Maybe check your game style.

  • I would fully support removing/lowering DC bans. I have never in 2 years had a problem with players DCing, in my survivor matches or my killer matches. Sometimes, I have agreed with their decision to head out, no one should be forced to take abuse, in a game that should be enjoyable. And if I was mildly inconvenienced by it, well there is always the next round.

The same people who would be (rightfully) annoyed if a killer said something like "if you don't want me to DC maybe you shouldn't genrush"

Gen Rush isn't a thing, that is survivors doing one of their objectives. Checking and kicking gens is the killers objective.

    3. 30 min
    4. 6 hours
    5. 24 hours

And it does not reset after 12 hours, it takes days. I have DC'd enough for the 24hr but never beyond, so just guessing after that. But have DC'd 2 or 3 times on day, left out of frustration and then DC'd once the next day and got 6 hours. So it takes a while to reset.

I think DC bans are BS.

I think ironically thats what kept people playing DBD and survivor in particular. Game after game after game you get some crap legion or freddy tunneling you off hook and winning, you get wraith or ghostface just hanging around the hook and downing you and the rescuer and winning, whenever you are winning along comes NOED to save the day for the killer. You just want one good game. You game where you hace fun, where your first hook isn’t essentially the last, where you feel you earned your win and it wasnt just against an afk wraith,or at the very least a game where you lose against a good player and not just someone who can just cheese with crapppy tactics like tunneling one out asap by hanging around the hook and then bringing NOED to secure the win. Moris also.

You just want a good game like what you had in the past. There used to be good games right? Killers used to play well and not be boosted noobs only winning by exploiting the bad game design right and participation perks right?

No the truth is DBD was always like this. Once in every 20 games you may find a good one, or maybe once in every 50 you might find a gem but most games are turd and you need to break that cycle.

I’ve been there. One more game before bed....and you end up spending hours. Now because you want points, not because you want to level up or rank up, but because you just want a “good game”.

All if this. I feel like I remember when it was fun. That was a long time ago now. But I keep logging in, although less frequently, and half a dozen games later realize I am beating a dead horse.

I also never had an issue with DCing, not as a survivor or killer. Is it mildly inconvenient for a surv to DC, i guess, but it is not much different than a 1st guy getting face-camped to death. I am a decent killer who doesn't camp, tunnel and slug so very rarely got DCd on any of those matches. I think the DC ban is ridiculous, and behavior in the game is way worse than it has ever been.

"The game isn't slow enough" try owning the last 3 gens because the survivors F'd themselves on which ones they finished and now there are 2 Neas with Urban Immersion and medkits doing F@#$ all -.- A quick 15 minute game I was dominating turned into a 40 minute hunt for 2 people.

Survivors have plenty of fun being toxic and such, it's not just about holding one button. You can also play survivor with your friends, I cannot play killer with a friend. You say remove mori which I agree with but not keys? Killers may move around the map a lot but so do survivors. SWF will easily communicate where hatch is as well. Also, if the hatch hasn't spawned yet (by gen progression that is) then by the time it opens for the last survivor, 9/10 it practically spawns on them... Hatch escapes on the final guy are so common it stopped bothering me a long time ago o_o

That first bit about being "privileged" is also a bit... questionable? I guess. The killer role in DbD is to kill ALL FOUR survivors, that is your only objective while survivors attempt to escape. For anyone to be upset over not getting the 4k is completely reasonable not "privileged". Especially considering a lot of the high rank BS killers deal with mainly in the SWF department, it can be very frustrating. That's fine if you're okay not getting a 4k, hell I'm alright with going even 90% of the time. But, it's undeniable that the 4k always feels so, SO much better

Umm, this "Killing all 4 survivors is the only objective" is a fallacy and a real problem in this game. Killing survivors is only 1 objective of 4 and escaping the match is only 1 of 4 ojectives for survivors. So killers do play poorly with stuff like slugging and tunneling, both lazy and unnecessary. And then my favorite toxic excuse rolls out "it's a strategy". Apparently, ruining other players match and wasting their time is a strategy. Killers, offerings, perks and items are not toxic. Only play style is because that is not part of the game it is a choice.

  • I say they are fine. They are not in every match. You have to do at least some work to use either, more for a key. I don't find them to be very problematic when I play either side.

  • @NovaliumTS said:

Fix this now! I am sick and tired of ranking down as survivor because a stupid instadown killer decides to ruin my game by camping me out of the damn match as soon as im caught, ive just had 3 games in a row where ive just been hooked and camped from the second ive been caught ive gone over half an hour without being able to play a proper match because of these inconsiderate killers.

I dont want to go toxic on this game and i even stay away from ds but if this keeps happening then i think ill be fully justified to bully the hell out of them using ds and other toxic perks as it just serves them right for being camping <bad word> to me

Recently there have actually been several good suggestions on this forum about ways to solve this. Unfortunately, it would be good for survivors and the devs are not about that noise. But I agree, every match these days is filled this, or hard tunnels or massive slugging. It gets old and unfn real quick. Sometimes I go get on killer for a while just to have a few rounds of decent killer and give survs a break. Funny I never get negative chat comments.

Also no, DS is not toxic. It is just art of the game. Toxicity comes from game style. C/T/S are choices. Bring NoEd, Blood Warden, DS, BT it is cool and intended.

  • I am not buying that a guy named "JediWithASniper" is a survivor. This is a straight killer name. And his commentary sounds like a killer trying to make it sound like 'some survivors' are A-Ok getting tunneled and slugged every game because it is a challenge. There is no fun or challenge to being tunneled off your 1st hook to death. I don't mind mori's and I am a survivor main, they are not in every match and you still have to ut in at least some work to use them. I like a good challenging match too, I like it when they are 20 min of hard fought back and forth between killer and survivors. But killers no longer seem intereseted in this kind of game. So it is stay at the hook, tunnel and slug, over and over in every match. If they last till 10 min it is some kind of miracle anymore.

-DCing isn't the objective of people playing DbD. Killing people is.

-Unless you're being bodyblocked in a corner and can't get out, you aren't being held hostage.

-You don't get a 6 hour penalty after 3 DCs. That's simply false, at least on PC.

-"no other major multi-player game forces you to play with people abusing you." Once again, simply false. Examples off the top of my head: Overwatch, League of Legends, DotA 2, CS:GO... I could probably find more examples, but all those are very high profile games.

I think that about covers everything.

I play overwatch and have never had a problem leaving a match, and nothing that comes close to a 24 hour penalty. The hostage is not being able to leave a match, although I have been griefed by other survivors body blocking you in somewhere until the killer comes (but that was not what I was talking about). I have had 6 hour penalty twice so yes I know 1st hand that 3 DCs in can get you that length of time. And I am not sure what your 1st comment means, we were not discussing game objectives in this thread.

Its why I stopped playing. Had a large number of trolls within a very short period. People that fast vault to get the killers attention then try to sandbag you to get you killed, why? Because I got to a chest first. People who work with the killer to farm me and my friend over and over again and the killer leaves them alone in return while they try to sandbag you. People who run OoO, find the survivors then motions for the killer to come over and again they farm you off hook and the killer leaves them alone in return.

You’re not allowed to leave the game you’re expected to sit there for 5 minutes and smile while the trolls have their fun.

Want anything done? Then the onus is on you to record it, upload it which takes forever and then fill out a report form....but you just get the “we’re looking into it” responce and nothing more.

I’m not surprised one bit though. Everyone knows DBD made its money on toxicity. They’ll keep allowing it to go on as long as the money roles in.

Agree, I have had a decent amount of matches as a survivor where another survivor teams up with the killer to find other survivors and then gets hatch as a reward. They get on your gen and purposefully blow it, jump in and out of windows and lockers near you, then point when the killer comes. I had a match the other day where a plague kept downing a Steve so he could see me, then pick him up and drop him till he was popped up and he would lead her to me. I managed to evade them for a good long time. Finally I got caught, and then Steve got hatch. I just had to keep going because if I left I would face the penalty for them teaming me. I also know reporting is useless because I am not a streamer so I don't have footage to give them. So they just tell me, w/o footage they can't do anything.

If somebody keeps repeatedly leaving games why shouldn't they be kicked out for increasing amounts of time? If they don't want to commit to an activity they themselves signed up for (playing the game) and want to continue ruining the game for others, and 5 or 10 minutes ban isn't enough, then they should be banned for 3 hours, 6 hours, even 24+ hours. However long it takes people to realize that ruining other peoples' games isn't okay, should be the amount of time they get banned. So if that takes 5 minutes, fine. If it takes 6 hours, fine. Either way, it's pretty much up to the person DCing to lower their own penalty.

It should remain in place. If any change should be made, it should be more strict.

And when are the penalties for Hard Tunnel/ Face Campers coming??? DC is not ruining people's game, constant toxic killer/survivor behavior is. I am with OP, being trapped in a game with people playing terrible, griefing, etc is worse than a DC. I have never had a problem with people Dcing, sometimes I whole haeartedly agree with their decision to leave. And you can get a 6 hour penalty on your 3rd DC, so it is not a "if you are DCing sooo much you deserve it" the penalties rise at an ridiculous rate. And there is no accounting for # of games or hours played. You could play 150 games over 2-3 days, and 3 DCs = hours long penalties. This is a game that every individual paid to play and no other major multi-player game forces you to play with people abusing you. The DC penalty system has also emboldened poor behavior because the perpetrator knows that if you DC to get away from them, you will still be punished for their poor sportsmanship. I left the sides vague because I have both sides behave pretty toxic. I am not against the DC penalty idea but it has been executed terribly in DbD, and in general is now punishing the wrong people. Maybe they could put a little effort into fixing the issues that cause so many DCs in the 1st place.

Leatherface become some kind of response for survivors tactic "group up, form a circle, 1 person unhook". What can you do vs something like this on most killers in game like freddy, nurse, spirit, legion, pig, clown, demogorgon, deathslinger, and list goes on and on? Ltierally nothing. You cant pass them by, you cant kill anyone, you can only cry in frustration watching how survivors unhook someone in front of your face. To be honest - every time it happens to me i switch to leatherface and do face camp.

Sorry, but if survivors gonna promote bad plays then killers gonna follow-up to it. I mean - why wouldnt i? Im angry of being helpless when they do that, so i pick the only counter to it. And just as all of them - i dont care about your feelings. They also dont care about killer feelings. So its even.

And trust me - from killer perspective its even worse. Bcs killer get punished when he camp in front of someone, while survivors get bonus points by forming this wall around unhooking one. And about queue times - imagine some killers also have only hour or two for playing. And killer queues became memes long time ago. Only time when i can play as killer is evening, like 7-10 PM, before and after that i have to wait for 10 or 15 minutes in queue.

Umm, why don't you hit the people defending the offhook? This is not some impenetrable wall of survivor flesh. Just hit and injure them, pick one and down them. Offhooking is a survivor objective and re-hooking is your objective along with chase, chase hit etc. You should not be pissed at people getting an offhook it is literally the fuel for the game and point generator for both sides. If just playing the game as intended incites you to play like a total jerk, maybe killer isn't for you.

It's the killers job to kill. It's the survivors job to survive. If you get caught you failed at your job. Don't you think it ruins the game for killers when everyone survives?

The first statement in this comment is a huge problem. I hear this a lot from hard tunnel/face campers in post-chat, "It is my job to kill". False, one objective of a killer is sacrifice, there are 3 others. And hard tunnel/ face campers ignore the other 3, ruin other people's game, generally come out with ridiculously low points. Engaging in chases and offhooks is where survivors garner the most points, so it is ludicrous to say "If you get caught you failed", nope, they are playing the game and working their survivor objectives. The camper is the one in the wrong ignoring his own objectives.

Everyone always spouts this but it is bollocks. Yes, those gens get done and x number of people escape but the person(maybe even multiple people) who got camped had their game ruined. A game they potentially queued for 10mins+ for.

It is ######### behaviour by ######### players intent on ruining the game for someone. Saying everyone else should do gens and leave doesn't fix the fact that the person on the hook has had their game ruined and their time wasted.

I would like a perk where if the survivor is being camped for a number of seconds they get teleported to a different hook across the map, 10 seconds before they teleport the other survivors see the aura of the destination hook so they can be there ready to unhook them. Named something like "Now You See Me"

A 10 second heads up seems a little OP, but in general I really like your idea. It would be great if you just popped up on another hook if the killer is within like 8 meters or something, longer than 30 seconds.

  • I agree, I used to play solo survivor the majority of the time (I have 1 friend who I group up with for a 2 man SWF). But it has gotten so disappointing to play solo, I only play with my friend now. So far less because of our schedules. Even with 2 of us together we are escaping like 20% of time because the game is just slowly making it so you have to have a 4 man to be competitive. Otherwise you are in there with potatoes who have little to no interest in helping each other.

I am reading a lot of these comments and... It seems to play a "fun" killer you basically have to let the survivors win??? Unhook for free? No camping tunneling i get but, let everyone go out cause u can 0k pip? No moris cause they are mean and bad? So to play a "fun" killer you have to basically sit there and do nothing while survivors win? Im confused cause thats what its looking like.....

Know that at least 1/2 of the commentary in here that says "let them pallet stun" and "do nothing and let them win" are killer main trolls. Real survivor mains are not looking for free wins, just a small amount of decency.

    To the OP:

I see a lot of people stating the obvious, don't camp and tunnel, a given. I personally don't have any issue with mori's. Like keys they are not super common and the yellow ones are nearly useless just like broken keys. I kind of like the animations too.

I play killer about 20% of the time. So being a killer main I play "nice" killer most of the time. I go in trying not to kill people and work the objectives. I try to hook everyone once early on, keep track of who has and hasn't been hooked, kick gens, break pallets, 2nd hooks, hit it and quit it chases. I do run thano and ruin to slow things down and maximize my points. If I am not going to kill many folks I need to get the points somewhere. With this strategy I leave nearly every match with 'ruthless' or 'merciless' killer and pip. I will slug people if I accidently tunnel or they have been hooked twice already and leave the area so a team member can pop them up. I never tunnel or camp. And always have BP in the high 20's and so do the survivors in my matches. Win/Win. SO I never get spicy post-chat or DCs. This is an extreme way to play killer, but I really enjoy it and it is low stress.

As a survivor I do not expect to get a killer like I play killer. I will respect your play and win if I was not camped or tunneled. Even if you 4k with NoEd, I take partial responsibility because clearly totems should have been a higher priority. If I get mori'd without the hot tunnel, ok. But everyone wants to be able to play. So just not basement camping the 1st hook to death will go a long way toward the match being enjoyable for both sides.

  • No one has to camp or tunnel (and slugging is rarely necessary). I hear a lot of people saying "they have to" but that is just not true. Everyone was up in arms about how DCing was screwing a whole team and literally the worst. Well tunneling people to death over and over is also ruining the game for a whole team. And I might want to run some perks other than jerk-repellent. I am as tired as OP of just proxy camps and hard tunnels every single match.

I made a poll a while back and a commenter made a post that outlined the things Devs have done in the last year/year and a half that really promoted this kind of gameplay and sucked a lot of fun out of this game. I miss a year ago DbD.

Also, DS and BT are not some miracle. It affords you one extra hit, you are still injured and the killer is still faster then you. And they are situational, after their respective nerfs. So making it sound like it is some guaranteed escape is ridiculous.

  • And what happens when you are the only survivor, bleeding and grunting all over the place? I gonna have to disagree, self-care has its place. If someone else is avail great, but for solo, well it is better than being a constant insta-down.

I think this is why I gave up on playing survivor. Aside from Huntress the top 5 have all but disappeared, hell most of those in the top 3 tiers barely appear anymore. Now it's all Spirit, Doc, Freddy, Deathslinger, Hillbilly, Legion, Ghostface. I can put up with a mix of fun and not so fun killers but the bottom 3 just put me off playing the game completely and sadly they seem to be some of the most common killers.

I agree with your chart far more than the OP. Although I like Trapper and could definitely do without pig.

  • I am in the minority, I play NO-KILLS KILLER most often.

I come in hard and hit and hook everyone as quickly as possible.

Slow down and second hook, gen kick, "hit it and quit it" chases, break pallets

By this time people are figuring out I am not going for kills.

But keep em guessing with aggressive chases and gen kicks

Once all point catagories are at 100%, they are free to go.

Although I still chase em around so they get points.

Once door are open I just wander off and let em leave typically.

<NOTE> If I get flashlighted, I will kill that guy. I hate flashlights, I don't even use them as a survivor.

  • I just bounced back out of red ranks (survivor) because of rank reset and could not be happier. I do not want anything to do with those sweaty try-hards and would love to be level 8 for life. I have gone as far as log into a few matches and and just go read fb or something to purposely de-pip since you can't just DC anymore. I am not sure why everyone is so ramped up about looping, Why are you continuing to chase them? Kick the damn pallet? I mean seriously I have never encountered an "infinite" loop. Plus I live by the rule that I will not chase one survivor over 20-30 seconds.

I am with Bunnie on the tunnel and slug, every match. Especially in the red ranks. I have had to give up solo play completely. There is not fun playing solo anymore, those days are over and this pro-killer patch hasn't even dropped yet. And make no mistake, opening every loop, removing pallets and clearing debris is all pro-killer. But I only have 1 person I play with and even as a 2 person SWF and comms, we escape like well under 30% of the time.

The last year has been a constant stream of either buffing killers or nerfing survivors. All I hear from killer mains is that balanced means "I 4k every game". That is the balance they are looking for. Most do not care about survivor gameplay or entertainment. I play killer far less than survivor, probably 80% /20%, but I never get spicy post-chat, rarely have had a DC even before the penalty because I play like a decent person while playing killer. I do not camp, tunnel or slug. I try to spread out the hooks across the team and work my objectives. And I almost always leave with ruthless or merciless killer and BP in the high 20's. But so do the survivors, if a survivor is dead in my match and has less than 10k I failed to provide a good game to them. If people gave just a tiny sh*t more about other people's game experience we would all be having a better time.

  • I jumped a 2 story vault the other day and as my feet hit the ground, a 2 story drop down, the killer (A Legion) landed the hit. I mean really, with a pocket knife, from like 12 feet away! What did he throw it at me like a boomerang? I was disappointed to say the least.

  • You didn't pip because you didn't play as intended. Killing survivors is only one category of objectives. If you did not attempt or work the other 3 the entity does not reward the 1/4 effort. I see a lot of killers use the phrase, "It is my job to kill" but this is inaccurate. It is your job to find survivors, hook survivors multiple times, engage in chases, destroy pallets, kick gens, etc, etc. It is unfortunate if you get a very potato team who isn't/can't play very well but garnering points in all categories is on you.

I treat playing killer like I am hosting a party. I am not only cognizant of my own points but try to give the survivors the opportunity to leave with good points. Such as chase, hit, pull off. Keep track of who has and has not been hooked and trying not to kill one till all have been 1st hooked, not tunneling. And yes sometimes it is a conscious decision to let someone go, or pursue someone else even when the injured guy would be an easier target. But I rarely get a DC and almost always leave with merciless killer and pip up, sometimes having killed no one.

  • @Clevite said:

Highly skilled strong killers are hard to deal with. But that is why they are in high ranks.

But a good team of survivors are also pretty strong. Last night we survived almost every game. In fact we only lost 3 games and they were to red rank spirit and billy and we took those games to the last genny each game.

So both sides can be pretty strong when played optimally.

I agree with your statement but the key word is "we". The changes over the last year have made solo play almost obsolete. Without friends and comms, the chances of survival are pretty low. Changes have been made to make SWF and 1 killer a compatible match-up but it has really killed the solo surv game (what I am 90% of the time).
