  • I have been playing about 4 years and have pretty much always played Trapper (if I am playing killer). I love that guy. I play some of the other killers, Dr, Freddy, Myers. But my go to in general is the Trap Man, now and forever.

The main issue is that you might get stuck in infinite lobbies because of THEIR block-list.

Remember for the block list to work it has to use EVERYONE'S so if you get into a game with one of these mass blockers then your lobby will never get into a game.

I think with 50k people BHVR could find a happy medium. I still want to know why in probably 40-50 games I have seen the same 3 people for a third of that game play. If DbD is unwilling to deal with these people they should at least give the players some way to manage the situation on their own. I had a random survivor pop up in 4 of my lobbies today out of around a dozen games. He played fine, but again why am I seeing the same randos repeatedly?

Any number that would be high enough for you to block the people you want to block (the BMers, smurfs, cheaters and such) would be high enough to be massively abused at higher MMRs.

This just sounds like you think everyone in higher MMRs is a toxic cheater. And with block lists would never get to play. I am fine with that.

Every time this has been tried in PvP games it's ended up backfiring.

People at a lot of levels block anyone who beats them.

People very high up just block the rest of the really good players and coast to absurd ranks.

I understand your pain (I wish I could block certain SWFs that seem to love playing at the same hours I do) but it's just not a good idea.

I do understand that it could cause problems, but maybe it could be limited. You can block 10 players, or something. But really if they would just show the killer names in the lobby just like the killer gets to see survivor names, that would be enough. I could avoid the really egregious folks and get on with less toxic matches.

  • I play crossplay off. I am not a fan of console players, either killers or survivors.

    Hahaha NO!

This couldn´t be further from the truth.

Even solos are stronger than killers.

You must be very bad at killer. I am a surv main and only play killer for dailies and have no problem laying waste to most surv teams.

  • @chargernick85 said:

As a solo survivor I am with you. Killer hasn't been to terrible (outside the 15 min wait) but solo is just pathetic. In my experience it's rarely the killer that makes me feel like this it's teammates giving trash AF killers easy kills.

Here's a example. Played against a blight on Ormond, I spawned by myself and walked to shack. I maybe put 3 seconds into the gen and I heard them coming. I went down the basement and got in a locker. I hear him circling the shack looking for me, then comes down to the basement checks the back 2 lockers then comes towards mine. I burst out, SB my ass up the stairs (He swung and missed Cause Claudette was zooming) did what I could using shack but he eventually got me. Carry's me to the basement right as he is hooking 3 gens pop. he never left that basement and gave up the other 2 gens. My team comes down nea gets hit after unhook and there's noed. This is where we should has quick glanced for totems and left. Instead they open the gate and rush the basement. Blood warden ended just before I got hit. I understand leaving people sucks but not as bad as a killer getting 3 kills for nothing.

Yeah I have a lot of games where the other survivors seem to just be throwing themselves at the killer. I don't usually run BT, but do have kindred (cuz solo) so if someone is getting camped in the basement I bounce. That basement hook person will inevitably be pissed at me for leaving (not the killer who was face camping them mind you) and tell me I "should have tried".

  • @Impose said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2499289#Comment_2499289

Then why aren't you and your other teammates countering that by doing gens while he facecamps the guy on the hook and then leaving?

I never said we weren't doing gens, nor did I say that the killer was face camping. But a red rank nurse is never farther then 1 blink to the hook, Deathslinger never out of firing range, all high mobility killers know how long to get back after they see someone's feet hit the ground. You do not have to be under the hook to zoom back for the hard tunnel. And Red Rank LOVE the proxy camp and hard tunnel, every single one.

  • @Impose said:

boring camping killers are at low mmr big guy.

Not in my experience, every red rank killer can't hump those hooks and tunnel people hard enough, just as sweaty has humanly possible.

That's the issue, they're wasting everyone's time! So why would you oppose a system or mechanic that mitigated that at least a little? Too many people have been slugging and letting everyone bleed out because it's a cheap and easy win, that's what has been happening recently.

I do not think this should be allowed to happen. I think if all but one person is slugged and the last one goes down the 1st one should pop up to injured. And maybe only last survivor has option to end their life if slugged, since there is no one left to get them up. Or just build it in that all killers can mori the last survivor, that would put a halt to that toxic, slug griefing.

If they know where you are and don't hook you they are wasting your time and theirs. Which is why the timer is there. The current system works fine.

Nope, this is a waste of survivor time. The killer is free to keep on playing and enjoying his game.

The issue, from my perspective, is "how do you penalize the Killers who do these things without also hurting the Killers who don't?" How can you punish such players in a way that (a) they will care about in the first place, and (b) won't catch players who've done nothing wrong in the crossfire.

Much as I hate tunneling in particular and dislike the others, there is a place for them as occasional tactics.

I think changes could be made that do not effect killers who are not engaging in this kind of gameplay. I think BT should be survivor base kit, not a perk. For killers who don't tunnel they would never even see this, because BT wears off now in like 3 steps. I think that there should never be all survivors slugged. I think if there 3 slugged and the 4th goes down the oldest slug pops back up to injured state. I think if there is 2 dead and 1 slug and the last guy goes down, slug pops up to injured state. This "I'm gonna slug everyone in this match and leisurely hook them, or let them bleed out" should not ever be a thing. Camping, penalize a killer for being within a radius of the hook after x amount of time, with a speed slowdown, there is not as much incentive to stand there and camp if when they do get offhooked the killer is running at half-speed and everyone gets away. I will say this effect should lose effect after EGC starts (or last gen pops) because that would be to far pro-survivor if the killer was trying to secure a last kill and then had to run to the exit gate like he was in mud.

  • @AresRevanche said:

You penalize people for dc'ing, but that's our only recourse sometimes for dealing with pathetic killers who tunnel, camp, or slug. Take away the penalty or penalize them. People are talking of leaving DBD over this, and I bought all expansions for myself and some friends. That's a lot of money to lose.

I agree, it is frustrating that there is absolutely zero recourse if a killer is playing toxic, BMing, griefing, nothing is done at all. But if the survivors decide they do not want to take it and leave to pursue and better match that are punished for the prior players behavior. Basically the victim takes an additional punishment. I think they should either make changes to the game that make toxic game play less attractive to killers, create block lists so people can decide who they "do" and "do not" want to play with or get rid of the DC penalty until a better solution can be found.

  • I said yes because the killer does not have to find totems and can already see the gens, so that is a benefit. But really I hate this map regardless of which side I am playing. Really it kinda sucks for everyone, but is slightly easier as killer.

  • I never see a Quentin in the wild, let alone get mad looped by them. Meg is probably the character I see most that is good with the loops, Dwight is the most likely to sandbag those team mates, Ace will flashlight you every chance he gets.

  • Iron Will got nerfed quite a while ago now and even top tier, purple three tick you are still grunting and making noise. It also doesn't have any effect on illness or slugs, still making all kinds of noise there. Iron Will is not some OP perk, I dropped it as soon as it got nerfed and basically made your grunts mildly quieter. I only run perks that actually work, I had to drop small game recently after it got a massive nerf. Survivor perks have been repeatedly nerfed, changed or rendered useless for a solid 2 years now. Almost nothing could be considered that OP anymore.

  • I feel like my favorite part of this entire post is that nearly everything you listed (survivor side) that "aren't fun to go against" have already gotten nerfed, sometimes multiple times. And the twins are a problem because that killer's best bet to win is to engage in highly toxic camp n' tunnel. Game play that should not only NOT be promoted, should not have had a killer built around that strategy. Luckily they are not played often, so it isn't some overt issue.

  • I have absolutely zero proof that DbD is fun. You have won this round.

  • Yes, If I play on my lunch break I usually have pretty decent, fun matches with people in my rank/skill level. If I get back on after the 9PM it is nothing but hard core sweat and I am always paired with 3 red team mates and a red killer (I am currently mid-silver). It really just sucks the fun right out of things. It bums me out that that is the most convenient time for me to play. West coast here and I would rather play mid-afternoon any day.

  • I never have given it a try, but am always quite surprised when it pops up if I am playing surv. So it is effective in the sense that people do not see it coming.

  • I hate this map, I escape quit if I see someone throw the offering in the load in. I hope it stays gone forever, and it can take Midwich with it into the bowels of hell from whence it came.

  • Well if you are going to live there it is a lot of fun. If you are doing it online like me it is several years of being alone in the office. I'm only 6 months to the end. You got this.

  • People have been asking for ban lists and block buttons forever. It would be living the dream but is ignored because some people would have 8 hour lobby waits within a week. This is the change I want more than any other, even more than fixing the server sided crashing.

  • Since Pinhead isn't getting a map, how about Hell from the movie.

  • The look and feel of the map are fantastic. I assume with time we will learn the configurations and spawn points and get better at playing it. BUT...It is too dark. There are places I can not see anything. I ran into a gen the other day in a dark hall and only knew what I hit because if I moved over I could see its silhouette in a door. I have had my detectives hunch lead me to a totem in dark areas that were so black I could not see myself while I was bent down cleansing it. I think this is a problem. Dim and spooky is fine, but Dead by Braille is not very awesome.

Killing survivors is killer's objective and they do it well by tunneling / camping. So what is problem here?

If survivors don't play ######### and focus on gens, then killers don't stand chance playing friendly.

It is different for soloq, but as SWF have no right to complain about it, because there are things they can do to prevent it.

-Don't unhook in first 5 seconds, where killer didn't find anyone else yet, so only info he has is 2 survivors under hook. (do gens until killer found different target, they can hang on hook for a while)

-Take protective hits / body block.

-If there is survivor on dead hook, then even let killer down you instead, if it saves him.

    -Use BT.

    -Use DS.

But I agree that survivors shouldn't be punished for not having unhooks. When killers got 2-3 hooks per game, then you obviously can't get them and you will probably depip in red ranks, which is stupid.

That's same for killers, if survivors ######### up and let you down everyone early, you can depip for 4k.

I don't think game should force you to babysit other side.

That is false, the killer has 4 objectives to play this game, only 1 of them is sacrifice. So no, a killer is not in there to only kill survivors as fast as possible. I don;t think one side should have to babysit. I think the developers should implement something into the game that makes camping and tunneling unpalatable to killers. Such as the timer on the hook slowing or stopping of you are within a certain proximity of the hook. I also think you should not be able to slug more than 2 people. I think if you slug a 3rd the oldest one should pop up to injured status. There are very few situations where 3 slugs are warranted in this game.

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2432400#Comment_2432400

Thats completely false, a killer's objective is to kill the survivors and no perk, power, or tactic is better at it than camping/tunneling/slugging.

That is false, the killer has 4 objectives to play this game, only 1 of them is sacrifice. So no, a killer is not in there to only kill survivors as fast as possible. You are supposed to hook survivors 3 times each, cause destruction, engage in chases and hit survivors. You are just disregarding Brutality, Deviousness and Hunter when you just camp/tunnel and slug the survivors right out of the game. You also deprive the survivors from playing at all, I know it is hard to wrap your head around but they also came to play a game. If you do not let people get offhooked you are essentially ending the game, shorting everyone including yourself of point and pip gain and not playing as intended in general.

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

Why aren't survivors punished for finishing generators in 220 seconds and leaving?

Probably because that is the survivors objective. Where camping and tunneling are not an objective they are a chosen form of game play. A better comparison would be to ask for a penalty for teabagging.

  • @Power_Guy said:

And there's the victim blaming. Grats on being a horrible person.

I've played this game since launch and pre DC penalty it was an issue, and every time they turn it off it is an issue.

Salty players DC when they are found first or start to lose as Killer or Survivor. So stuff your 'MaYbE iT's YoU!' victim blaming bullshit. The people who say this are the type who DC for literally ANY reason, then think up an excuse to blame their opponent.

You even THINKING that bullshit shows we need the penalty.

Oof, your toxicity must be worse than I thought. I can see you are real triggered by DCs. I will just reiterate, I have never had any problem with people DCing out of my matches. So I don't know what to tell you. I have no problem with people DCing, it is not common when I play and if they do it is fine. I play out the match and move onto the next one, if it is the killer, I move onto the next one. You are just clearly experiencing a VASTLY higher ratio of DCing than me. You are also not a victim if some DCs on you. They are the ones getting the penalty. I will continue to champion the players actually victimized by this system, the people whose game closes on them without warning, and you can be sad people don't want to play with you apparently.

  • @Power_Guy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2431217#Comment_2431217

It is impossible to make anything that knows the difference between a game crash and an internet-hiccup. And less people have crashed games than people who DC out of rage, so the DC penalty is needed.

We already saw what happens, multiple times, when there's no DC penalty so no; it does not need to be turned off again.

If people are DCing out of your matches in droves maybe it is you. I have never had an issue with people DCing on me, either as a survivor or a killer. I play both, and have played this game for over 3 years, so way before the DC penalty was introduced. At no point was DCing an issue, up to and including just a week or two ago when it was off for the mmr test. I assume all the people in this forum singing the praises of the DC penalty system are playing toxic and then get all mad and whiny when people do not want to put up with it. Because in 2.5k hours I have seriously never had a single issue with rampant DCers.

  • @SimpingForKyoraku said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/273046/admit-it-you-like-the-d-c-penalty-because-youre-sadistic

It's on your end. I play on PS4 and have no issues unless I'm playing with my phone hotspot. And even then it's still winnable. If you can't have a good enough connection to play, don't.

Except a good portion of the time it is not your internet connection it is the game-side servers, where you have zero control.

  • I think as long as this glitchy game continues to give people playing the boot stick there should not be a DC penalty. They have no way of differentiating between a legitimate DC and a game crash so tons of innocent people are punished for doing nothing more than trying to play a game they paid for and enjoy.

  • You should have made this post a poll.

  • I think RPD is too far. I have detectives hunch and BHVR has made totems so hard to see, and that map is shrouded in complete darkness in a lot of places, that I have played that map three times now and have never seen or popped a totem on it. I also can't find gens but I assume with more play, you just start to remember where they generally spawn, so that problem will just work itself out.

  • @bm33 said:

EGC is only there to stop hatch standoffs and survivors hiding around map indefinitely after opening exit gate - it's why a killer can start it by opening the exit gate. It was never meant to be a tool to secure kills for the killer once the gens are finished and the exit gates still need to be open.

The only change they should make is if a survivor is still in match when EGC runs out the killer does not receive any sacrifice points and survivor receives no escape points. Neither side wins. This way it removes the apparent confusion killers seem to have about the purpose of EGC.

I agree with all of this. EGC already put the end of the game massively in the killers favor. Especially when half the time RNG puts the doors within sight of each other. It's purpose was not to ensure killers 4k, it was to prevent 45 min hatch standoffs.

  • I do think the killers should be able to switch everything including the character during the count down same as survivors. I also think survivors should be able to see the name of the killer. Not what killer the players name. The killer can see the survivors names, so that should go both ways.

  • I have seen spirit builds with Undying and Haunted Ground, so it pops twice. That is kind of a surprise when it happens.

    1. Play more immersive 2. Get in a locker when someone goes down (or get behind and unfinished gen) 3. If in a chase haul balls away from the basement. That is all I got.
  • I still have some last year cakes. I never bring anything, they just pile up. I have too many toxic, ridiculous matches to risk bringing anything of value. I play probably 6 games a night and if 2 are fun, I had a good night. The stats say it is not worth the risk. If I play with friends I will trot one out occasionally, but am generally sorry after I get hard tunneled out of the match.

  • You can just end the game in the task master. This would not prevent people from leaving. And it is a game not prison, jeez.

  • You can video tape it and submit a long form report citing griefing if it is egregious. Like slugging everyone, no hooks, following people and harassing them in the ground. With enough complaints people do get the boot. It is a tedious process and can take 20-30 minutes, so you gotta really mean it.

  • You are 100% right. There are 4 objective categories, and only 1 is sacrifice. You have to engage with the other 3 to actually be playing the game as intended. And Camp and Tunnel generally means killers are not.

  • I haven't seen it but it is some kind of hack. If you get video of it you can submit a report ticket and have then investigated.

  • I am a survivor main and play stealth more often than not because I am not the best at loops, kind of average I guess. But I would argue that (only speaking for me) that immersive players are the work horses. The TTVers in neon clothes flashlight clicking the killer into a chase are the ones never doing any objectives. I am the one working methodically from one gen and totem to the next to GTFO. I do appreciate a good looper keeping the killer busy while the objectives are getting done. I would in no way say stealth players are killing their team or not doing anything. It takes both to get out of the match, if one or two people never want to hide and always want to be baiting the killer, someone is going to need to be working on gens. So unfortunately it goes off the rails when the highly visible players get killed off quickly by the killer and the stealth players are left trying to finish. Inevitably they are heckled at the end for "hiding the whole game" when they were just doing objectives. This is also pretty much a game of hide and seek in its base form, so being upset people are hiding is a very counter-productive point-of-view.

  • Using a flashlight as intended, killer stunning when in a tight spot is fine. The real issue I see, and I am a survivor main, is it gets toxic and annoying real fast. I hate clicky flashlighters, I do not need survivors rapidly clicking their flashlight at me if they want help with a gen, a heal, etc. Then people team up to repeatedly blind the killer for funsies, click their flashlight at them to get their attention. Since so much of this BM behavior exists with flashlights, all flashlights have a bad reputation. I am fine with keys both when I play survivor or killer, I don't know what the fuss is there.

  • You are correct it should be fine in the game to leave and move onto the next match. I agree 100%, in a game you pay for, being held hostage with toxic players is unpalatable.

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2159758#Comment_2159758

Most people don't consider a pip a win including myself, one such reason is as you said survivors don't even need to escape to pip and sometimes even when they do escape they don't pip, and the system as a whole is bugged and inconsistent by the devs own admission(why do you think they are spending so much time working out a different method to determine skill).

There is no clear cut win condition in the game currently as pip system is broken and not a reliable source for it, though if you want to use it as your win condition be my guest, but don't expect others to use the same system as you for the sole reason of "that's how you rank up"

Also how is the survivors doing bad a result of me playing poorly I've games where survivors made consistent mistakes that resulted in them losing very quickly and thusly receiving little points how is it any fault of the killer for that?.

I play pretty fairly, I don't camp, I don't tunnel unless given no other option, I only slug when necessary or when the whole team is right in front of me as it would be stupid not too especially if you know there are flashlights in the game.

I am glad you are not a camp n' tunnel player by your admission. And I do not consider a pip a win, I consider BP the win/loss factor because that is the games currency. Rank does not mean much in terms of skill but does tend to become sweatier the lower ya go. You asked, "How is a survivors mistake my fault as killer?" But that is not the point or argument in this discussion. A survivor hanging on a hook and a killer running in to down them before their feet hit the ground in an offhook situation is not the survivor's fault, or them "making a mistake". That choice to tunnel that survivor rest solely with the killer. So OP is just spit balling ideas do decrease killers who forgo learning to play skillfully for the cheap trifecta of Camp, Tunnel and Slug. I don't know that I agree with his specific work arounds but have seen tons of good ideas float through this forum over the years, all promptly ignored by BHVR.

  • This may have been a viable argument before they were all nerfed into oblivion and became useless.

  • No, survivors have been taking nerfs while killers get buffed for years. Freddy was AVERAGING 3 kills a game, that is why he was nerfed because he was not balanced. Trickster also just got a buff. Nurse and Oni got a buff to their lunge ability. In the mean time survivors have gotten nerf to med kits, insta-heal, toolboxes, DS, Iron Will, Small Game and keys. Maps were made brighter, all maps have had the spaces opened up for better killer visibility, most maps got a reduction in god loops and safe pallets (except The Game), all the trees got skinnier and harder to hide behind, auras changed so survs are easier to see, Gens take longer to complete and the added EGC and hatch changes (both of which are vastly killer-sided) especially when door RNG puts them right next to each other. I understand that most of these changes are to make playing against SWF, unfortunately SWF are the lowest percentage of players in this game. All this did was screw solo survivors from being able to play. When I started as a solo I got out about 50% of the time, it is probably about 10% now and I don't think my game play got worse over the last 2k hours.

  • They already nerfed Iron Will once. And if anything I think it should be stronger not weaker. The fact that you are still grunting and heaving with it during a Plague match is ridiculous and your slug moans and groans no matter what. I think if you bring a silence my grunts perk it should work to the percentage that it states across the board. Killers have so many aura perks that they can pretty much see the survivors through the entire match, Iron Will isn't slowing up that many.

1 2 3 4 5 … 12
