Yes, people have on an off asked for this for years. Killers have abilities beyond their 4 perk slots and survivors should have the same differentiation.
-
My favorite is probably Yamaoka with Survivor
My favorite for killer would be Swamp (I play Trapper so the grass hides the traps well)
My Least favorite for both Survivor and Killer is Midwich followed somewhat closely by Meat Packing Plant (especially after the update, I was surprised they could update a map in such a way that both survivors and killers hated it way more, talent)
Note: I am shocked how many people like Midwich. It looks great, its functionality is terrible. By a large margin I feel this is the worst map they have ever come up with. And I am a long time hater of The Game, but Midwich wasn't out of the PTB before it replaced Pig map as my least favorite.

No; it doesn't. It hasn't "evolved" or any such nonsense. Whining, mewling morons continue to call anything they don't like Camping or Tunneling or Slugging. They do this because they want to blame their personal failures on something else, and try to grief the Killer at the same time. The point of these, incorrect, accusations is to lie oneself. Tunneling has the exact same meaning now that it did then, there are just more STUPID people who can't be bothered to be accurate in the use of terms. There is no such animal as the term you are trying to define, because the DEVs have stated that going after the recently unhooked person is a completely legal, valid choice. It is just called, hunting. Get it? We don't get to redefine the terms anyway we see fit.
I am literally an English Language major, so for one group consensus is a language changer, in the actual world well beyond this tiny pond. Second there is no excuse for playing toxic and tunneling people out of the game. If you bothered to read my post you would see that I fully admit it is not against the rules in any way. I just said that ENTITLED killers have no right to clutch their pearls after a match when survivors call them on there purposeful toxic behavior. Basically, if you want to play cheap, lazy and skill-free the devs won't stop you but just own it instead of coming here complaining about being attacked.

The Killer's goal is to kill. Just as the Survivors goal is to survive.
Would you agree if I made up some BS rule that Survivors have to get off gens if they pop them too fast? And started whining to the Devs that the Entity should shove Survivors away from gens if they hit too many skillchecks? Or would that be silly, since the Survivors are supposed to hit skillchecks and try to run away?
It's always 'Killers should have to let us unhook!'. No, my goal is to kill you. Camping is one of the worst ways to do it, but I should in no way be forced to not camp if I feel it's required. These ideas are stupid.
No, every player in this game has multiple objectives they have to work on to get an acceptable score and/or pip. So the tired excuse that bad behavior is the product of "killers gotta kill" does nothing to advance the discussion. Survivors don't have to escape to pip, just like killers don't need to kill to pip. So clearly that is not all there is to this game.
When I play killer I am the host of that party, if any survivor in my lobby leaves that match with under 10k I am the failure. Either I did not play the game effectively so that everyone was engaged or they gave up and left. If killers do not wish to voluntarily play with some ethics I have no problem with BHVR stepping in to make it less appealing to killers to play badly.
Your analogy is also lacking, the equivalency to working on a gen is putting a survivor in a hook. Nothing in the game prevents that from happening, so nothing in the game should be throwing survivors off gens. The equivalency of camping survivors to death would be unrelenting flashlight saves so the killer can not get a survivor on a hook, not survivors doing their objective.
-
The definition of tunneling has evolved in the nearly 4 years I have been playing. It does indeed mean downing a fresh offhook. Playing cheap and lazy for your own ease, thus ruining the game for another player, is unacceptable. It is not against the rules, so to be honest you can do it. But at least own that it was trash and that the heat at the end of the game, that you earned with your bad game play. If people are constantly balling you out for how you play it is probably not them.

Except it should be THE KILLERS CHOICE. Why shoudl he be expected to leave a hook with TWO SURVIVORS standing there?
And why should he be punished if he does not?
That's the thing you don't get; the game should not be making the tactical decision for the Killer, and it should not kick him in the balls if he decides 'against' it. If Survivors are there, he should not be FORCED into a chase that allows an unhook.
But according to you lot; that's exactly what should happen. Free unhook; Survivor happy. Who cares about Killer. He only exists to do whatever Survivors want.
Again, survivors are supposed to offhook and killers are supposed to re-hook. That is playing the game as intended. And survivors have no choice in a camp n' tunnel scenario. You seem concerned that the killer is being victimized here because he loses his ability to victimize someone else. Instead this just forces him to play as intended and most likely raises the score and experience for all involved.

Ok, so the Killer is near the hooked Survivor.
1 Survivor does gens.
Survivors 2 & 3 stand 50 yards away, in the open. They are far enough away that the game does not register a chase. Thus, Hooked Survivor has a slowed (or stopped, as some people suggest) Struggle Meter.
They are ALSO so far away that they can run away if the Killer walks towards them, thus delaying a chase from activating for a good 5-9 seconds.
If Killer goes after #2, then #3 walks towards the hook. If the Killer turns around; #3 backs up, #2 resets. A chase never started (due to the distance), so Hooked Survivor still has a slowed Struggle Meter. #1 is still doing gens with all the time in the world.
In order to start a chase, given the distances involved, the Killer would have to move so far away that one of the free Survivors gets an unhook. This meant that the Killer has 2 choices:
- Camp with a slowed (or stopped, as some people suggest) Struggle meter, giving #1 more than enough times to solo every gen.
- Commit to a chase, giving one of the 2 Survivors a free unhook, because he can't do anything else to stop them.
It was actively forcing the Killer to allow unhooks, because it gave Survivors more time to do gens and just stand around. This was why it was never moved past the PTB. Twice.
Killers should be leaving the hooks and allowing offhooks, that is how he and everyone else gets points. This description right here says that the change was working as intended, forcing the killer to engage other survivors...what he should be doing. So this just tells me that it worked. Also, one guy doing gens is still gonna take quite a while to pop 5. P.S. there is no such thing as a survivor getting an offhook they did not deserve. It is what they are supposed to be doing.

The Devs already worked with the whole 'Survivor struggles slower if the Killer camps'. Survivors abused it.
People need to stop asking for ways to prevent the Killer from winning. That's literally what people are saying when they ask for 'camping' punishments. 'It's not fun that I lost, please punish the Killer for doing something I dislike'.
How could the survivors abuse something that is solely determined by the killers behavior??? And if killers are camping and tunneling people out of the game every match, the survivors are not the ones exploiting anything, it is the killers. This guy is 100% right in his point that there should be something implemented in the game that discourages this behavior. I played 4 games today, there was tunneling in every single match and face camping in 2. If these were isolated or every once in a while incidents, then ok, just bad luck and a crap killer, off to the next match. But every single match, every single day is a real problem that needs addressed, it is just driving people away.
-
Since there was no option for NoEd Good (surv main) I went with mixed although my survivor/killer match ratio is probably 90/10. But as a survivor main I have no issues with NoEd. There is a counter to NoEd and perks that help you find totems. Is NoEd a crutch perk for killers who didn't get it done during the match, absolutely. Is it a completely viable perk, yes of course.

Have you any proof for confirm yourself?
It has literally never been easier to be a killer than right now. I have been playing for over 3 years and the changes have been overwhelmingly killer sided for years now. The trend for years has been buff a killer/killer perk and nerf a survivor/ survivor perk. The latest was buff for the Trickster and nerf for Small Game. Recent changes to nurse and oni being able to change direction during blink and lunge, Freddy changes, etc.
All maps have been changed to be more killer sided, more open space, less safe pallets, shorter items (cars, boxes, trash piles, etc), Slimmer trees, less corn etc. The exception is The Game, they actually somehow took this already hated map and made it 100% worse for both survivors and killers. Between a bunch more pallets (killers hate) and breakable doors and dead ends (survivors hate) everyone collectively hates this way more than before.
Nerfs to med kits, insta-heals, toolboxes, keys, takes longer to get a slug up with a stand up delay, nerf to DS, EGC (the whole thing is killer sided, including hatch) etc etc etc.
-
I think this is a solid, equitable idea.
-
I definitely think that something should kick in if more than 1 person is slugged. Like you stay down but if they down someone else you get a skill check like DS to get up, or a recover to pop up bar or something. These games where the killer is trying to slug 4 people should not be a thing.
-
Really you should not have a ban, at all, ever. So there is that. You are a paying customer and should be able to come and go as you please, especially since you are gonna have to wait for 10-15 min just to play again anyway.
-
If there were 4 people there I do not understand why you could not just chase someone else. Clearly there were options besides tunneling Jeff out of the game. So if they had something to say about that behavior in the end you most likely 100% deserved the spice you got.
-
Man, I felt this to the core of my soul. Bad killers suck but bad team mates are definitely the worst. I had a Jake today body block me in a corner until the killer came right after we got in the match. He points at me, then runs around the killer and away. The killer let him go and hit me. Luckily I clipped it, so BHVR support can deal with that guy. But why bro, just for funnsies?
-
It is so fun when janky combos work! :)
-
False, they will indeed down you. Step over your slug and continue with the tunnel, chasing until they are pretty sure your BT has worn off. Because killers who want to play toxic and lazy are going to do so.
-
Except this already happened. Killers have been buffed singularly and as a whole repeatedly for two years now. So sit down, you already got all the things. OP here is 100% right that BHVR has decided to do away with solo play. Most recent example, Small Game, the perk literally no one ever even complained about is getting a hard core nerf the same update the new killer is getting a massive buff. And this is the exact formula for every update over the last 2 years.

So, i've been doin a lot more survivor lately (Mainly to play with my fiancé) and just had this in a game. Guy won, pretty decent demo, but then instead of GG immediately goes with this. Firstly, did SOME chases (Mainly just looped around a car etc till down, chase was maybe a minute or so... Guy tunneled the poor rank 5 off hook almost every single time.
So I keep seeing posts "Looping is so boring" "Looping takes no skills" etc etc. So what is it OTHER killers really want? You want chases but the only way to really chase is looping. You dont want "Hiding" (The only time there was any hiding was after 2 people were dead, me and the feng hid in the basement real quick to avoid him and heal to full.) Just curious. I have no problem with people hiding when i'm killer. People do it all the time. (I run whispers though so...yeah lol)
There really is no winning with this community it feels. (If people aint calling me a "Furry" Because I have a Poochyena picture as my profile picture on the forums it's something obscure) just take the GG and move on =w=
Lol, a game that simulates hide and seek and the seeker is pissed people are hiding, SMH. After being in this game, a forum, for several years I have come to the conclusion that Killers really want all survivors to be ejected from the game and replaced with NPCs so they can 4k every match but never have spicy post-chat.
-
So let me get this straight, Small Game gets nerfed hard and so now killer totem perks need a buff? I am confused.
-
I am pretty sure my head just exploded with this Small Game nerf. It is not even a meta perk and I have never once heard anyone complain about it in the forum so what gives??? Why not just come out with a statement that says that BHRV does not want solo players in their game. SWF or leave, because we will take every benefit away from solo queue until gameplay gets so unbearable they leave. Adding a totem counter in no way makes up for dropping the actual positive use for the perk, ridiculous.
-
I am on PC. I have been logged into DbD for 30 min and since I opened the options window to look for my Cloud ID and came back after making this post like 10 min later the times was paused. Even though DbD is open I still have like 13minutes to go. Crazy. What is I log out of steam? or close everything with the task master? IDK.

I like Midwich. Maybe because I'm an old school Silent Hill fan, or maybe because I'm a new player and don't take the same amount of joy in the secondary game of looping that everyone else seems to. I don't know. The fact is, it's a map I really enjoy. Some of the maps I like the least, others love the most. It is what it is.
As for the camping, as a survivor main I can join the chorus that says yes, it IS incredibly annoying. It's not just annoying, it's a waste of our time. An elimination of our agency, our ability to even play the game. Believe it or not it's not the most satisfying thing to get a game based on hunting, chasing, sneaking and survival, wait upwards of several minutes for a match, and then spend just as many minutes (if not more) NOT playing the game but simply hanging there on a hook and / or crawling around on the ground helplessly with nothing to do. Staring at a screen unable to play a game probably isn't most people's idea of a good time. In fact it's nothing more than wasted time. Wasted time that, if the killer weren't camping, could be spent, you know, playing the game.
HAVING SAID THAT, I have no fealty to one side or the other. I see so many survivor mains bitching about killers, and so many killer mains bitching about survivors, and I find it so ridiculous. I used to moderate the THQ wrestling game forums and saw the same cyclical arguments day after day. "These things ruin the game". "No, I like them. That other stuff that YOU like ruins the game". I would imagine that it's like this in many game communities, especially competitive ones, and I just don't understand why something that could turn into valid, constructive criticism is so often reduced to broad-brush dismissal of "that OTHER tribe". Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of legitimate discussion and criticism here. Everyone who's spoken to me so far has been perfectly decent. I was just warned by...well, anyone I know who's ever played this game that the community is toxic, and it's nor hard to see why. I don't blame anyone specifically. I'm just saying that I thought the war between killers and survivors would be restricted to the game itself.
So, on that note, I've played killers too. There are killers I enjoy just like there are survivors I enjoy. And my point is, while I hate camping and try very hard not to resort to it myself because I think that it's a cheap and lazy strategy that ruins other peoples' fun, I accept that it IS in fact a valid strategy. Sure, it may suck that the survivors may have to adjust their preferred strategy when they see a camper and take the opportunity to jam in some good generator repairs (though strangely, in 95 percent of my games, they don't). Sure, survivors may prefer altruism over objectives. I myself really enjoyed the teamwork of my first week of play before I realized how many players are addicted to camping. But, again, it's a valid strategy. I may not like it but hey, them's the breaks. If more people realized that they could work together on getting those gennys done and let the camped survivor linger for a while, camping would start to become less popular. And again, yeah, it really sucks to be the person on the hook or bleeding on the ground while some inbred taps the crouch button over and over to indicate his apparent skill and brilliance. But if you play enough to get better, and don't always rush in for a save you're a lot less likely to wind up hooked in the first place. Right now I feel that I suck, but even I know that that's because I have a lot more practicing to do and lot more things to learn.
The bottom line is that, as a newcomer to this scene, I see a lot of the same arguments repeated in different forms: Killers suck because X, Survivors suck because Y. Let's face it, there are plenty of pros and cons on both sides and lots of different ways to play the game. I love some maps others hate. Others love some killers that I can't stand. It's not a game for one person, it's a game for everybody. So yeah, while things sometimes happen in my game that put me in an extremely salty mood, that doesn't mean that I can't play differently or choose a different character or try different perks or otherwise try to have fun in a different manner the next time. There are things that I hate, but that doesn't make them inherently bad, nor should it mean that everyone else has to hate them too.
If you read this whole thing you get the ultra rare "You're Very Kind and / or Very Bored" perk.
I got the perk, yay! And I agree that different strokes for different folks. You also speak at length about camping which I stated in an earlier comment was not much of a problem, my issue is with the hard tunnels or tunnel n' slug combo. In general people were upset that I said I reported these people. But if you read this forum, post chat, fb group etc, literally thousands of people complain about this behavior every day. So dismissing this toxic behavior as 'strategy' is not ok, when 80% of this game are survivors. Especially when a huge swath of their players have repeatedly ask for a solution or a deterrent to this behavior. You pointed out that queue times are long and tedious. I am tired of waiting 10-15 minutes for a match to be tunneled out in 3 and have to get back in line.
On a side bar, I die a little on the inside when I am being face camped and people don't go do the gens. I would 100% rather hang for the entire time until death if the gens all get popped in the meantime and the other team members get out.

You are not meant to escape chases. This mentality is what hurts the game. You are only meant to delay killer for as long as possible with the resources you got.
Nope, killer believing you should never escape a chase is the toxic thinking, right along with the belief that they are owed a 4k every game or it is unfair.

No. Because it allowed you to be invincible, and continue to do your objective and other things useful for your team, leaving the killer helpless, which is just plain busted.
Think twice before you try to strawman me again, okay pumpkin?
Sit.
Lol, invincible??? OMG, you have got to be kidding. You mean, just like BT, it made you hit a person ONE extra time. And it is one time use, so unlike all the killer perks where you get benefit the entire game, this perk enabled survivors to protect themselves from a single hit over the entire match. Yeah sooo unfair.

No, ruin was nerfed. Not it does nothing to actively effect anyone working on a generator as it used to. Before, it affected skillchecks, which required no effort from the killer to get value from. Now? It's just automatic regression, which requires effort from the killer. It was effectively a nerf. I also never said "they already weak". Please don't misquote me to further your argument. By doing that, you forfeit any argument you were going to make. But yes - 6k hours, must be a baby killer. Or maybe, you're just a baby survivor. You're out of your depth. For your own sake, stop.
DS was broken. It needed to get nerfed.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2073012#Comment_2073012
Yes it was. A nerf is a nerf. You don't get to pick and choose. Please stop, bud. It ain't working out for ya. You've tried, but you've utterly failed.
How was DS broken? Because it was beneficial to survivors? Also, current ruin does not require anything from killers. It was passive either way for the killer. It is also still a strong perk if it lasts till end game.
-
Every once in a while survivors do get good perks, then killers complain constantly until they are nerfed into oblivion. Example = Mettle of Man.

So you repeatedly report people for behavior the mods and devs have repeatedly stated isn't reportable behavior? Why do you want to waste the time of the employees of BHVR?
Because they should know this is unacceptable, if enough people make it clear that this is unacceptable I would assume that eventually changes will be made. Unfortunately, they really just continue to make either killer sided buffs or changes no one wanted or asked for. No one wanted a change to the UI, no one asked for breakable doors all over every map, or Midwich (self-explanatory). So I assume there won't be many positive changes until another game comes out that draws people away from this one. I am patiently waiting for a comparable option, but there aren't many viable competitors currently.
-
I submit reports all the time about this and am convinced no one read them. So it is probably just for my own peace of mind. But yea, Camping and Tunneling are a real problem in this game. There should be real consequences to a killer who insists on ruining people's games with these cheap and lazy tactics. I think BT should be base kit for all survivors to discourage tunnels. I find camping to be a problem to a slightly lesser degree because this at least has some counter to it in the form of doing gens and objectives while the killer dinks around with one person on a hook. It is sad for the person who didn't get to play and depipped because the killer decided he didn't really want to bother playing and would rather stand next to the hooked guy. EDIT: I saw this post this morning, this afternoon, my very first match I was face camped on my 1st hook. The team did 4 gens while I was hanging there. So I got screwed but they all lived and the killer got a 6k. I thought it was funny since I was just thinking this AM that I don't see real blatant face camping very often.
-
I have never left a match via suicide or DC over the kind of killer it is. I will absolutely peace out of they are playing hella toxic. You wanna hard tunnel, camp and slug? You can do that crap without me, queue times are too long to put up with those shenanigans. I would rather head out and get a killer who is fun and wants to play with some skill. 5 min is a small price to pay when your queue time is 10 min anyway. And I usually spectate, and 7 times out of 10 a DC straightens killers behavior right out. The rest of the team gets a normal match. The other 3 are just hellbent on sucking and everyone just has to endure them.
-
You mentioned queue time but I wait a long time as killer too. I have zero idea what the hold up is with the wait times. And you are correct, this game has swung killer-sided hard in the last 2 yrs. And yet they still complain on here constantly that they don't get to 4k every single match so 'it's unfair'.QQ
-
I have to be honest the annoying part of this recap is the tunneling, not the NoEd. I feel all perks are fine. By contrast playing toxic is a choice that is cheap and lazy and just ruins it for everyone. Bringing perks is playing the game as intended. I run small game and make a concerted effort to get totems. NoEd is rarely an issue.
-
This forum has been hard core killer sided as long as I have been coming here, prob 2 years. I would not let it bother you this much.
-
The other day playing against the twins, it was down to me (Meg) and a Bill. Bill got downed by baby in front of a locker. I run in to kick baby and try to pop him up like captain save a hoe, the killer is coming, there is heartbeat. I jump in the damn locker instead of kick the baby, in my haste I hit the wrong button. I get pulled out of the locker, and slug Bill gets the hook. I was laughing so hard, it was the most epic fail I have had in a while.

Well the game is designed so that the only real way to get a 4k is to slug the 3rd and look for the 4th. If hatch never existed and instead the survivor had to last long enough to escape, I'm sure killers will stop slugging
If the gates are not open you should just man up, kill the 3rd guy you have down and race the other bro to hatch as the game intended. Slug to 4k is the lazy, cheap play. I will DC if I get slugged for 4k on my last match cuz then that penalty is moot, especially if I think they know where hatch is. And I play solo, so that is trading my game for a stranger because it is that annoying to me.

I feel like people are fairly ok with Legion but I hate Legion matches. Legion is not even a very strong killer, just the annoyance of constant mending is mind-numbing.
As far as trapper I run small game in most of my builds and so don't mind matches against Trapper, Hag or Freddie. I play solo though so my frustration is the other 3 people leaping into traps at every turn, making getting gens done a situation.
-
I do not like the Trickster's music. I don't think it fits his backstory and it is too quiet at the start, I mistake it for other subtle sounds on the map. The guy is supposed to be a K-pop prodigy but his music is nothing like that. And you are right it goes from quiet and melancholy to screechy, just kinda bad either way.
-
I generally just look for hatch and stand on it. They will stand in the doorway a very long time just to teabag, but I am not coming, just patiently waiting for them to GTFO.

I don't care if someone DCs or suicides. They want to go, go with my blessing. I don't play crossplay so the likelihood I will see them next match is kinda good.

Ok but most of those pallets are god and safe pallets as others have said. On top of that there are way more pallets than before. Yes the old ones are still there, but now there's a ton around them/the map that weren't there before.
Are you new, this game had a pallet every 3 feet when it started. Only in the last year have the devs removed like 80% of them. Maybe they decided it was a bit much and added some back in. My point it they are not all safe or god-like. I just had a run through with a Bubba and he just ran around most, he was only forced to break 2 the entire game.
-
I am already waiting for 15 minutes to play one 5 min match, I can not imagine how long that would be if I started getting picky. Or had to wait for 2 killers to chose from.
