  • Slowly but surely, this game has taken away all aspects of any mechanic that has been OP or incredibly survivor sided.

Now that it's more fair for both sides and survivors have been nerfed from OP/easy mode to balanced/need skill people are crying.

  • He needs to be 115% base and faster when throwing the knives. This guy moves even slower than Nurse when holding and firing them, it's ridiculous considering you need to connect 8-16 for any real value. Make it 110%, to be honest.

Also remove survivors getting a speed boost from being lacerated. It gives more incentive to use your knives since, like Plague, you could use your power to take a health state and go for an M1 since they didn't get a speed boost. Right now? It takes forever to lacerated them and when you do, they just sprint away to another high walled loop and it takes you even longer to down a survivor.

  • It's a healthy perk and has plenty of counter play.

    It's fine.

  • It's really telling you need to camp in order to get kill(s) as this guy.

  • I hope no one plays Trickster so the "data" they have on the guy in 2 months time is so universally bad and minimal it gives the crystal clear picture that he's abysmal and no one wants to play him because of that.

  • Agreed. UB is incredibly underpowered, remove Tenacity as a perk and combine it into UB, balanced perk then.

    /s

  • I'm pretty sure that's the difficulty for survivors playing against him, because it's hella easy to loop this guy for five minutes.

  • Queue times are bad because there is a considerable small pool of killer players available at a single time. The demand is far higher than the supply and who could blame them? The Twins/Trickster are pathetically weak unless played scummy, there's been no new map, no real killer perks since Blight to change anything and its the more frustrating role out of the two.

  • As someone who's played this guy nonstop and is coming to probably around 70-75 games with him and is adding him to the main list despite how gravely underpowered he is (but very fun).

All I'm going to say is, you didn't make Trickster work. The survivors made it work for you, that's it. Red ranks mean nothing in this game and not to sully your skill or insult you, but it doesn't really matter how good you are as Trickster, it just doesn't work if the survivors are somewhat competent at all. You'll only get beyond a 1k if survivors make serious mistakes.

Any competent survivor knows killer shack, jungle gyms and any tall kind of loop is just an infinite against him. He's simply too slow to land an M1 without bloodlust 2/3 and whilst he can land the occasional few knives if they're vaulting windows or rounding corners, the fact that you need to connect 16 of them to down the survivor, all whilst the metre decays mid-chase just makes it so it makes literal minutes to down a single competent survivor.

You may suggest ''Just leave them and go for someone else'' but I've been in games where all the survivors are fairly decent or good and it would also take minutes to down a survivor. You're in a lose lose situation. You either dedicate minutes and basically almost every generator for one down, or continuously abandon, restart and drop chases with zero downs or pressure made until the game is over.

That's it. I've legitimately had games where all the survivors were very good, on a decent or very good survivor map like Coldwind and never got a down or hook. It's THAT bad. The average result for me was a 1k, since I would down one guy as all the generators were finished and camp him, and maybe get a 2k if the survivors were altruistic or they made some mistakes previously.

I try to moonwalk, mindgame survivors, but I'm so incredibly slow it doesn't matter. They see it coming and can react. Playing killer shack or any strong loop against this guy reduces him to a 110 M1 Killer.

The only time this guy's power can legitimately down a survivor is on macmillian, autohaven or any short wall loops. But guess what! Huntress can do this as well, for much better effect since Trickster's lethality is just 1/8 of Huntresses.

The last clip doesn't even support what you're claiming. Sure, you downed two survivors, but they legitimately sat watching you approach them and only moved when you were within lunging distance and then ran into the open field with no protection or cover. Of course you're going to down them, they're defenceless there and made a serious mistake, any killer could do what he did there, in fact, Huntress could've done it faster and better.

He's just THAT bad, there's no two ways about it. Out of 75 games, I can count on one hand how many 4K'S I've got, and I can tell you it wasn't because they were very competent and I was the better player, it was because they were potatoes.

It's funny because the second I switch to my other mains, like Bubba, Demogorgon, Wraith, I'm suddenly getting an average of a 3-4k every other match without even needing to sweat. This guy? I'm sweating just for a 1k.

I'm sorry, but he's horrendous, this killer is E tier minimum and I applaud your post, but all I'm going to say is this guy only works effectively against 15-20 survivors.

TL.DR Trickster doesn't work against decent or good survivors. He needs major buffs, there's no way you can make him work, playstyle or perk wise. He's just THAT bad.

  • Weak, easily top five worst killers in the game. Takes too long for his power when someone like Bubba has it on demand all game.

Plus there's nothing more infuriating than a myers sneaking up on you with his 8 TR, having his tier 3 popped on you and you get insta downed. Not really fun.

Wow, pretty prejudiced of you to say the least huh?

Only survivors who complain 24/7 about EVERYTHING are spoiled little bastards.

Just like killers who complain 24/7 about EVERYTHING are spoiled little bastards.

Not all survivors and killers are the same mind you.

Sure, it can be prejudice or whatever and I do recognise both sides complain to a degree and not every survivor or killer even does.

But from my experience, playing either side I see a massive amount of more salty survivors who act petty, entitled, and spoiled.

I mean, how many killers do you see going "Don't do gene" VS "Don't tunnel or camp" who play survivor?

    Definitely option B

Do you seriously think the people who worked on a list of words to censor are the same ones who would otherwise be working on the game's balance?

Does it matter if they aren't? They're so many more other problems in this problem, but instead, just like the UI change, opted for something nobody asked for and then told us to shut up and accept it when we tried to refute it.

All of BHVR does the same thing and acts under the same premise, ''ignore the community and all feedback and then blame them for not wanting it.''.

Like i never want to resort to using the absolute best killers possible because i like pushing low tier killers to their limits and showing that they can compete. Its when im playing weaker killers and then survivors try to bully me for no reason that i bust out the big guns and then get met with "tryhard". There's no winning when i play killers cause when i do good they give up and it feels hollow but when they slam gens they tell me to get good.

No matter what you do, survivors will complain, because they're spoilt and disrespectful.

You win pretty easily or quickly? ''Oh my god, tryhard, sweaty, OP killer''

You struggle and lose? ''Wow, you're so bad, how are you rank 1..?''

God, I'm getting really bitter at survivors now lmfao

  • All of his add-ons are pretty much useless or inconsequential. I'd argue his best add-on is the USB looking one, reducing knives from 8 to 7 to injure someone, but even then... it's bad.

They really did nerf the only good add-on he had which made him somewhat decent in certain situations.. didn't they.

  • @Irisora said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2075177#Comment_2075177

Yep not really worth it with the sluggish speed he have. Its painfully hard to even get max tokens.

Sadly, you're too slow to hit M1's unless the survivor makes a mistake, so you're forced to use knives to down people.. which at some times is physically impossible.

I only ever got 8 stacks if I camped and had survivors throwing themselves at the hook for me to stack the perk, other than that, lol.

  • Once again BHVR shows how truly incompetent and suffocating they can be. Ignoring the will of the community and including a change literally nobody asked for in replacement for tangible change in the game's balance or health.

  • The average Trickster game is:

-Spend a minute finding someone and then the next three/four downing them in exchange for 3 to 4 generators.

-Find someone else to chase, eventually down them, all the generators are now completed.

-Obviously camp the hook in the end-game, either get a 1K or a 0K.

  • Of course he's viable at lower ranks, because at 15-20, the killer role is simply more dominant as survivors have no idea of how to loop, save, or even do generators appropriately.

But you will not be there forever and the second you start moving up, you will begin to struggle fast with Trickster.

  • Survivors complain about any inconvenience to them. They're all petty and entitled brats.

I don't blame you for feeling that way. The survivors really are the more powerful role.

It doesn't help when I'm trying so desperately hard to make Trickster work and all four survivors are basically invincible and impossible to down because the killer is so horrendous and because they're so hard to catch, they get cocky and start tbagging.

Spirit Stridor is really therapeutic, maybe I should do it some more.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2075258#Comment_2075258

Well tbh trickster is a pseudo stealth killer so they might not even know you’re coming

It's not like it matters. It takes you 5 minutes to even down a single survivor who isn't at a low structured loop and is half decent at the game.

  • @Phasmamain said:

That’s the case for all killers barring nurse and maybe spirit

It really isn't. Some killers will make survivors run away earlier if they're more dangerous (e.g one-shots, they're injured, death hook, etc.) but in general, the weaker killers have less respect and survivor don't care if they're in their presence.

As Trickster? I've played probably around 50 games with him since he's released and survivors legitimately don't care about me. They'll sit on a generator and only get off when I'm 5-10 metres away.

They just don't care and it shows how weak and pathetic the killer is power wise.

  • Tunnelling & Camping are perfectly valid strategies and the community demonising killers who use these tactics really need to look at themselves for being entitled, petty and toxic as hell.

Sure, it's not fun, but guess what, this is a video game where one side is out to destroy the other and use everything they have to achieve that goal. Survivors want to escape and killers want to kill, so why is it only killers who get these societal rules of what is acceptable behaviour or not? Killers can't play X Y Z, camp or tunnel and have to make it fun for the four survivors but those very same survivors are not expected to make it fun or easier for the killer.

Fact is, camping and tunnelling have perk counters and people expect the killer to not use these strategies when its incredibly beneficial to them and act spoilt when they do use them. It's entitled and needs to stop ASAP because as a killer main, getting screamed at for camping the hook after all the generators are done and securing a kill instead of letting them go almost every game is starting to make me bitter towards survivors and I'm sometimes tempted to just Stridor Spirit and tunnel every survivor off hook because I'm just fed up with being expected to throw games basically and get bullied or else I'm a horrible person.

  • Sigh, survivors will absolutely abuse that naturally.

I love camping as Bubba. He is so fun when you camping because survivors know he is unstoppable when camp. And i know when i camp i am losing BP and game but i am doing this just for fun and not always. Maybe 1 - 2 of 100 matches

Oh yeah camping a toxic survivor with Bubba feels amazing.

They either throw the game and give me a potential 4k or have to watch the person on the hook slowly die, powerless to stop it.

No other killer can do that.

  • This was a good patch for killers. Trickster is garbage but fun. Wraith and Blight got buffed and DS is not longer making survivors invincible for half the game.

It feels amazing now that DS is no longer abuseable.. although I did get hit by it from a Feng who unhooked someone right in front of me, so it's bugged? Lol

  • STBFL on him feels amazing. Shame all the gens fly before you get max stacks though.

  • As a bubba main, I believe he's healthy for the game and fun to play as and against. Survivors still get to loop and play the game and he's definitely beatable.

I'd put him like A tier, surely by just how lethal he is and in how his face camping is just a confirmed kill.

Only problem is camping, but some killers are better at certain things..

  • Yes, we get it. This is the 10th post today clearly demonstrating how survivors are upset they can't abuse it anymore and get 1/2 minutes of free invincibility.

Get over it. It's still strong and does what it should do.

Freddy is not hard killer, i agree but also not so easy. Freddy already has some weakness. For example he need to use snares/pallets smart areas. He is area control killer, so he need patrol gens as well. And survivors need to stay awake, then Freddy also loses powers. And teleporting going after last gen done. So Freddy is not weak killer but also not op. But he has chance against most of survivors.

This is so inaccurate. Freddy is at least A tier, even S tier.

Freddy has no weaknesses, or at least none which are substantial and hurt him. He has everything, he's OP.

Being able to bring a powerful Hex for free would not be healthy.

Hex perks are high risk high reward. An extra, "free" perk slot like this exclusively for a Hex perk removes much of the risk involved in bringing a Hex perk as, part of the risk is in the fact that if it gets cleansed you're out of a perk for the rest of the match which is a pretty big deal with only 4 base slots.

This balancing around SWF idea isn't healthy as it would completely crush poor solo queue players who, contrary to popular belief, matter.

If a 5the perk slot was added on either side it would need to be on both and even then I can't see that ever happening as it could cause too many issues.

Not at the current moment in time with totem placements.

It's easy to find totems and break them, it wouldn't change much unless you had it on a good totem map.

  • Oni, probably.

DUNG DUNG DUNG DA DUNG DA DUNG

    Can't beat it

  • You can't win in the 1v1. His power makes it so you lose regardless of what you do. Drop the pallet? He uses his wave attack. Don't drop it? He hits you normally.

The control of the interaction is completely in his control because even if you fake the drop or something, it takes him a second to cancel the attack and hit you normally.

It's like Spirit or Nurse, split up and do the gens ASAP. That's the counterplay.

  • Lmfao DS gets nerfed and 80% of survivor mains are suddenly upset that it gets zero use because tunnelling rarely happens.

  • I love how the OP clearly defined dead hard as a problem when its used for distance, since there's no ''wait it out'' mindgames to it and one of the first posts is, as expected:

    ''jUsT bAiT iT oUt''

That's the only argument people have against it, but it isn't even valid. I honestly would love for DH to be nerfed like DS, as its another crutch perk for survivors. Made a mistake? Press E. Want a free third health state? Press E.

It's not even designed to be used for distance, but to dodge a hit. It's the exact same problem as how DS just got nerfed, survivors used it in a way which wasn't intended and it was finally changed.

  • @AlmosCumDaddy said:

Otz maybe but Scott really just wants this game to be a power fantasy for the killer. He even complained about Pyramid Head's nerf where he can't immediately swing after dropping his Rite power.

lol? He's advocated for changes that benefit the survivor and actively considers both sides experience when discussing literally anything.

You've clearly never watched him and are just strawmanning.

  • Just put DS on.. JFC, people it's not that hard.

  • His Irisdecent Photocard is good, but it still requires you to connect an M1 as a 110 killer.. which is painful and extremely difficult at certain loops or structures.

  • Another thread dividing killers and survivors into warring parties.

    How original.

  • I want to main him so bad but everytime I play him.. I just get bullied. He's just so bad and weak as a Killer there's nothing you can do, you're basically a 110 M1 Killer.

    It's so painful... I can't.

  • I really do like him a lot. Throwing knives at survivors and seeing them wince in pain is fun, he's much more enjoyable to me than Huntress or Slinger.

But the enjoyment only goes so far when I feel powerless against any half decent survivor team and am lucky to even get a kill or two.

It's sad because as usual, the design, aesthetic and lore of the characters they make is top notch, they just seem to be absolutely horrible at balancing them and taking suggestions on how to do so.

  • I agree. It's a perk that punishes survivors focusing only on generators.

I find it fun to go against NOED, because it starts the game of "Oh #########, need to find this totem quickly!" and really provides a sense of emergency for once in DBD, that brings a lot of thrills.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I mean lets not underestimate how bad survivors can be haha.

I just 4k'd against a red rank SWF as Trickster on Haddonfield. I only downed maybe like....one person with my power the entire game. Basically just playing Gunslinger without a gun.

The only time I got a 3k or a 4k as Trickster was when the survivors basically hard threw the game and handed me the win.

Against actually good survivors? There's been games where I'm struggling to even get a single hook and if I'm lucky I'll get one or two more.

He's just so bad. He has no map control, no lethality, no snowball potential, no nothing. If you even get a survivor on the hook, you have to camp or tunnel for any chance to get a kill.

  • Nah; if you watch them stream the majority of them use NOED, play horribly and camp, etc.

They're garbage at their own game. They probably balance around rank 20's, which is were Trickster is decent.

So the really scary part is that whoever tested this the the secret bhvr volcano lair, thought his power was so absurdly strong that he should be 110. It’s the mere fact that these devs would put him 110 that has me dumbfounded (don’t get me wrong here... I don’t think 115 would make him appreciably stronger) it’s just that they actually thought his power deserved a 110.

    I hope that makes sense

You forgot they also nerfed his best add-on because apparently it was too good lmfao

  • He's really bad. Really, really bad. He has zero map control and has probably the worst among the roster.

His lethality isn't even good as well. Because the knives decay over time, YOU have to focus and down that person, otherwise you've wasted your time and effort. But if you try to down them and they're not rank 20, they're going to run you around for like 2-3 minutes.

Either way, he's basically an M1 Killer at 110% unless it's autohaven or ormond that is low enough to shoot over.

He's so bad, easily the weakest killer atm

  • Not going to lie I played Huntress straight after a Trickster game where I didn't even get a single hook because HES that bad and I suddenly got a 4k.

He's so bad it's undescribeable. I'd even say he's E tier, D is too good for him.

  • Yup. Its so sad they don't listen to people like Otzdarva or Scott when they're amazing players and really care for both sides of the game, wanting balance and fun gameplay.

But instead they just reject every single idea, or take months to even implement it. Blight's FOV should've been fixed in between the PTB and sending him to live, but it took 6 months instead. Just one example of how lazy, stubborn and petty they can be.

Trickster, if lucky will get a buff mid-chapter at best. If not, probably give him a year sitting in D tier with no one playing him because he's THAT bad.

  • @Sluzzy said:

If killers say he is weak, it really means he might be closer to balanced.

Give him time so you can get meta perks as usual. It is refreshing not seeing everyone on their bellies at 5 gens still up against a killer as it commonly happens against some of the killers. He's definitely getting some kills.

I'm genuinely convinced you have some form of psychosis.

1 2 3 4 5 … 16
