okay so this is dbd league rules then its not a bigger nerf for killers. Again this dose not apply to regular dbd what you are showing is a completely different game. The people I showed are top mmr and dont tunnel to win.

We assume they are high MMR. We really cannot know. I mean, some of the survivors they play against really aren't all that impressive and it's clear that at least some of them have no clue about certain killers either.

And when you watch games in which they really want to win (mostly streaks), they do tunnel.

Also, please explain why comp DBD is a "completely different game". It's the same game just with different players and rules. Tunneling works in both settings and it's pretty easy to pull off, which is why it's imitated.

I dont mean to sound rude, but you really did not read the thread did you?

    It's not happenstance.

^ I explained it here as well.

I'll admit, I haven't read the other posts. Sorry about that.

That's terrible. I really don't understand why anyone would care about that. But I guess, using logic to explain this isn't the right approach in the first place. That's definitely despicable behavior and I hope these people get banned.

It's just a pattern of colors after all. To some it means something but to me it's nothing more, so I really don't get the fuss about it. If it makes people feel happy to have a specific pattern of colors in the game, then good for them. But why would anyone else care?

  • Is that really a thing people do? And how is it correlated to the new killer? If you're gonna act like an ######### then you can do it with any killer but i haven't heard of it before (not that I was actively looking for it).

I don't deny that this happens but I simply have a hard time wrapping my head around it. Who cares, if someone uses a specific charm? I find it more likely that this is just happenstance. Someone is targeted and they happen to have that specific charm.

This reminds me of Bubba's faces. Apparently people used them to be racist too but I have never seen anyone do that. And honestly I don't understand why anyone would. This is just a game after all. The person on the other end of the screen could be anyone and you wouldn't know a damn thing about them. Because it doesn't matter.

This is comp dbd not dbd. So the video you provided shows nothing. They don't play by the same rules. The killers are also super nerfed in these tournaments. Again you dont base your game of thousands of players because 500 of them are better then everyone else.

If you have to tunnel every game to win it means you're not as good at killer as you thought.

Also please post the rules of the tournament since they weren't put in the video.

It shows how people in comp play. Which is what players try to adopt. This is exactly what it shows and it's a reflection of the average dbd game right now. Tunneling, tunneling and more tunneling.

The rules of the tournament don't matter to show exactly what's important here. Killers will tunnel, if they are allowed to do it. It's that simple.

I found the rules in a pinned comment under this video. This is the same tournament.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xASnx8Uq01g&t=707s

    12 | Loadouts and Balancing

Every player has to create their loadout by following the rules and restrictions in this ruleset and the balance specifications in the Discord server.

The listed offerings are obligatory to bring. If there is a choice between two, the killer must bring one.

No penalty will be applied if an offering does not influence the match layout (e.g. a map offering). Aura/location showing offerings are considered a balance offense, except for a Basement Offering on a map where the basement is consistently in the exact location.

If a team brings a lower rarity on med-kits or toolboxes (items and add-ons), they will not be punished. This does not apply to the sports flashlight.

    13 | Killer - Additional Rules:

The killer is the lobby’s host and is responsible for setting the correct map and the correct killer for that set. According to Rule 7, a Tier I penalty will be applied against the team if failed.

You may not block the pathway of a survivor for more than 10 seconds. The timer starts when the killer takes the position to block the pathway. The timer ends when the killer leaves the position of the blocked pathway and allows the survivors to pass through that spot. Offending this rule results in a Tier I-III penalty.

Clarification: A location with multiple entrances is not addressed with this rule. For example, Blocking a shack entrance for more than 10 seconds is allowed. Once the Endgame Collapse is active, this rule no longer applies.

An open hatch has to be closed within 5 minutes. A violation results in a Tier III penalty.

    14 | Survivor - Additional Rules:

After the last generator has been completed, the survivors must attempt to open the gates within 9 minutes. A violation results in a Tier III penalty.

Survivors are not allowed to open chests. A fully opened chest results in a forfeit of this set.

All survivors have to play different characters. Violating this rule results in a Tier I penalty.

Survivors are not allowed to attempt a self-unhook (Kobe). The self-unhook is permitted if the perk Deliverance is ready to be used. A successful self-unhook (not with Deliverance) during the game results in disqualification. A non-successful self-unhook attempt with an impact on the match leads to the same consequences.

Particular ruling: Speeding up death when all survivors have been hooked is allowed. If a successful self-unhook happens under these conditions, the survivors are not allowed to move and can’t make any attempts to escape, and they can also not use any perks. When allowing an immediate re-hook, no penalty will be applied. Otherwise, the rule above applies.

I found that this rule set was copied from DBDLeague as stated in the Discord.

If you have to tunnel every game to win it means you're not as good at killer as you thought.

Maybe so. Maybe not. I know that I am not playing on that level (I also don't tunnel) but for everyone else? How the hell should I know? Or anyone for that matter. Most of us think they're way better than they actually are and some popular content creators make this even worse. Because they are considered top MMR when they clearly display that they have no idea how to play some killers. Sadako is a good example of that. I am pretty sure I am not allowed to call out any player in specific, so I won't go into further detail and simply hope you get the reference.

It doesn't matter though. What does matter is that tunneling is the more effective way to play the game. So naturally players will adopt that play style. After all, it allows them to win more, which is what most are focussed on. Do you see survivors running around doing dull totems and chests all the time? I certainly don't. And why would they, if they want to win?

  • @Hexling said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3675084#Comment_3675084

Sure here also comp is a complete different game then dbd. People go on hundreds of game win streaks without tunneling as killer. These are all people you can watch at high mmr who don't tunnel every game to win.

    https://www.youtube.com/%40ScottJund

    https://www.youtube.com/%40Rapidmain

    https://www.youtube.com/%40CoconutRTS

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyI4Q57BybY

This video doesn't help your point. It was not a tournament but a showcase. The difference is that you do not want to focus on winning by using the same strategies as always but by utilising the power to the best of your ability. Eveb then, he lost 2 of the 3 games shown and the last game, where he actually did win was on a favorable map where he also killed someone at 5 hooks.

The survivors were also limited even more than in comp games and even there killers tunnel:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbCXEY1UV_Y

Just go through these matches and look at how many hook stages it takes for the first survivor to die.

  • You can force an unhook with little effort. Few killers even have the theoretic ability to stop you and when you dodge an attack or multiple survivors come, then you're guaranteed to get an exchange at least, which already counters camping. So there is no reason to change the hook times.

I mean camping and tunneling is toxic because it gives no chances for the survivor, yea ik dbd is a game for killers but still survivors need to have a chance for escape, so when there is 5 gens and the killer tun someone so the game stay with 3 survivors and 4 gens there is no chances for escape so for me the killer was being toxic.

About the video u can see how freddy make a moon walk and dont get stunned by the pallet and in the whole game he was revealing the aura of everyone, i was healing my self in the basement and my friend only watch he walks for the basement like if he know i was there and when the match is over he didnt even have nurses call or something but he still come for me...

Btw if you are saying this is not toxic, you'r probably doing the same thing as this:

    https://youtu.be/Ch-W2nUZHsE

If you want people that you respond to to actually read your post, I suggest you use the "Quote" option in the future. Otherwise they're not notified of your response. It was pure luck I stumbled upon this.

I mean camping and tunneling is toxic because it gives no chances for the survivor [...]

This is not toxic. If that was the definition of a toxic player (someone that plays in a way that leaves you no chance), then it would also be toxic, if your oponent was just way better than you. I can play perkless on whatever killer you want I'd still beat a group of beginners with no issue. Because they simply haven't learned how the game works yet while I have 3 years of experience under my belt.

Apart from that, tunneling and camping can be countered. Admittedly, the counters available aren't great but it's not like you absolutely cannot win. You can loop the killer so long, that they won't tunnel you because they can't down you 3 times before the gens are done, you can use DS and OTR and your team mates can take hits for you. For camping there are perks like Reassurance and Camaraderie as well as the option to force an unhook (works against every though it requires a lot more effort against Bubba).

Toxic behaviour is anything with the sole purpose of making someone else miserable. For example hitting people on hook repeatedly, bleeding survivors out and watching them die for no apparent reason (there are situations in which you don't have a choice), flashlight macros (although they were patched out), excessive teabagging, harassment in end game chat etc.

They don't give you any advantage during the game, so the only reason you'd do that is to make someone else feel miserable.

About the video u can see how freddy make a moon walk and dont get stunned by the pallet

Good pont. I missed that. But that could also be a bug or a laggy connection. This is not enough to know, if he was actually cheating.

and in the whole game he was revealing the aura of everyone, i was healing my self in the basement and my friend only watch he walks for the basement like if he know i was there and when the match is over he didnt even have nurses call or something but he still come for me...

There are a lot of possibilities how he could have known you would be in the basement. Experienced killers usually have a pretty good idea where survivors are at any given point. There are only so many places they would go after all.

Freddy also has addons that grant him the killer instinct on survivors after his teleport. So he could have teleported and found you that way. Apart from that, there also a lot more perks than only A Nurse's Calling that would reveal your aura to him. I don't know what perks he used exactly, so I can only assume that this is a possibility.

Then of course, he also might have noticed you played Sable. Who has 3 perks that are all tied to the basement. So he could have made an educated guess on where he would find you. Especially if he had checked a few spots he was sure to find survivors to no success.

Btw if you are saying this is not toxic, you'r probably doing the same thing as this:

Bold of you to assume you know how I play. Especially since you couldn't be further from the truth. Mostly I go out of my to hook everyone twice before I get a kill. But I can't expect this of everyone else. This doesn't happen normally. In fact, it's more likely you'll have someone dead at about 5-6 hooks, if you don't count hook stages. Simply because you know where to go after an unhook and you're likely to find the same survivor again.

Regarding that Pig player, I have no idea why she would do that. At first I assumed she might not have had a hook nearby but that was wrong. So I conclude that this was indeed done to make you miserable, which is toxic.

  • Not gonna lie; if you told me that was the Pig and she finally decided to join the survivors after after being head-on-ed, I would have believed you.

    This is nightmare fuel.

  • Not sure about top priority but it can't be that hard to implement this feature, so I think they could squeeze it into a future patch along with some other things. It's pretty weird that it's not in the game already.

  • You may want to reconsider your definition of "toxic". Camping and tunneling mostly aren't done to ruin the game for that survivor personally but because they are highly efficient and fairly easy to pull off strategies that allow you to win more. And let's not fool ourselves, winning to most players is more important than their oponents feelings. So it's not that most killers will go out of their way to be toxic but simply care about winning first, which is normal.

With that being said, it is very unfortunate that it got so bad to begin with. Decisive Strike is on the roadmap for some changes, which likely will give you a better chance against a tunneling killer but I doubt it will completely fix the issue.

As for the video, you camped a pallet and got a stun. Good job, I guess. But what did you actually want to show us? It's a 2 seconds clip and we cannot see how the Freddy played all game. He got a kill at 6 hooks but this is not really tunneling but more like not going out of your way to hook everyone twice before killing anyone. So for all we know, he could have just gone for the first survivor he saw every time.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

This was already in the last Roadmap. And well, it would be the only fair nerf to Adrenaline, but there will probably be more.

I'd like to see them try and fix this whole "slugging to counter Adrenaline" thing. I personally don't think it's too strong but let's be honest, it's not a good design when a survivor perk actively punishes the killer for hooking instead of slugging.

Unfortunately the only 2 ways I can think of to fix it, would either be a heavy nerf or a big buff. Both of which Adrenaline doesn't need.

  • I'd rather play against regression. At least then I still get to do something productive. Blocking just forces you to wait and twiddle your thumbs until the time is finally up.

You can add more grass of course, but then we're only going back to invisible traps, which makes him pretty terrible to play against.

Interesting. This seems mostly anecdotal (I haven't been able to find any stats on this in the few mins I've been trying to research your claim). To counter, I will simply say that, anecdotally, I was getting faster queue times in 2021 and 2022 than I currently am. I am NA West.

I'm not sure there are any official data on that but I'm pretty sure other players remember that as well. It got really bad when they tried hit validation on pallets, windows and worst of all DH. I remember queueing up with a friend and waiting 20+ minutes for a survivor game (admittedly it was at night when survivor queues in EUW are always longer).

So I should be forced to play rigged games then? Because a full SWF has the game rigged in their favor.

I mean, it's not really rigged. You can still win. They just have an advantage over solo players. I think you're reading too much into it. Just because they play with their friends doesn't mean they are any good.

  • We've been there, tried that and it didn't work out.

Back in 2021 we had a time when pretty much nobody wanted to play killer and yet many survivors still weren't happy. And the kill rates weren't that bad either. The queue times for survivors back then however were 10+ minutes (almost all day iirc) but the killer queue times weren't longer than 10 seconds.

  • By the power of my left hand, I declare thee sacrificed!

"Also, tunneling and camping are strategies used in comp too."

Except it's not. Official tournaments ban specific unhealthy perks on /both/ sides of play and don't allow tunnelling the same survivor off of the hook or proxy camping, because who in their right mind wants to watch that.

Show me the tournament that doesn't have the killer tunnel a person out immediately. Literally every comp game of DBD I've watched so far has shown killers desperately trying to kill someone asap with camping being a more situational but still possible choice.

These were the last comp games I've watched and yeah... Tunneling seems to be a recurring theme here.

  • @crogers271 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3672974#Comment_3672974

First off: You can do something against tunneling. There are perks that help you out against a tunneling killer and your team mates can also come and take hits. So that is not really the same. There is of course the option to loop as well. So you can technically counter tunneling with skill. Now try to do that against the heal tech.

I don't get the logic here. What you are saying is that there are lots of things the survivors can do to prevent the tunnel from being successful. Which is true.

But that's also true of the 'heal tech'. There are lots of things that the killer can do to prevent the heal tech situation from ever arising.

A better comparison would be if survivors said they needed some sort of counterplay when they were on death hook, already on the killer's shoulder, and within 3 meters of the hook. Yeah, they have no counterplay at that point, because they lost all their counterplay options,

Same thing with heal tech. If survivors manage to get within a certain range of the gate and if an ally that can help them, they've escaped. Just like once a killer has a survivor on their shoulder and is within a certain range of the hook rescue is now impossible. That doesn't mean counterplay didn't exist, it means that side lost their opportunities to do so.

There is a difference in countering something and preventing it. The heal tech can be prevented not coutered - tunneling can be countered not prevented.

Also, this "just win before the gates are opened" argument is pretty weak. I said it before but I'll repeat myself: The game isn't over until it's over. That survivor has not escaped yet. This is a slippery slope. Because then we could also argue that Devour Hope shouldn't be a hex perk and it wouldn't be an issue. After all; "jUst WIn bEfORe iT hApPenS" could be applied here as well.

There are some things you simply won't be able to prevent other than by winning before they occur. This doesn't mean, that they're fine.

  • Finally! A non-controversial and universally approved quality of life update again. Thanks, BHVR.

  • You must play at some really high MMR, if you go against killers with 4 slowdown perks and NOED on top of that.

Also, tunneling and camping are strategies used in comp too. I can't blame anyone for doing what is done in comp. It works, which is what's most important, if you want to win. The devs have created DBD's win condition and now players focus on that. This is completely natural. When it comes to the devs; the best Freddy player of all time, that plays with neither slowdown nor NOED, spreads hooks and doesn't camp but ends the match with 8 hooks and no kills on GoJ is considered worse than the Blight on his best map that uses their best addons, 3 slowdowns and NOED and gets 1 hook in end game to camp them with NOED and get a kill. Why would anyone not tunnel or camp, when this leads to kills, which is defined as "skill"?

The only reason is to be nice. But playing nice is not rewarded in any way. Quite the opposite. In fact you'll have your opponent ridicule you more often than if you won. DBD has a real problem with sore winners.

The same applies for survivors. Why not run 4 meta perks, keep the game as short as possible and send yourself to the best map? The chances of you winning are significantly higher and as we know: winning = skill. It doesn't matter, if you looped the killer for 20 minutes straight, did all 5 gens on your own, got 9 unhooks and 15 heals. As long as you die, you are still not considered skillful.

This has led to more and more players only caring about winning and as a result, their opponents feel robbed and start to play in the same way. This is solely on the devs. They and they alone, made the win conditions and introduced MMR.

With that said, there are some things that clearly aren't fun in this game and it is every player's right to come on the forums and voice their opinion. I, for one, hate pre drop and Shift + W on survivors because it's extremely boring to play against. You always counter it the same and there is no thinking involved. Others hate tunneling because it eliminates one survivor early, which means they cannot participate in the game long enough to actually see how it plays out and only experience 1 aspect of the game. Others again hate certain killer powers or maps.

It is true that players will always complain about something but instead of dismissing this feedback right off the bat, we should look at the actual arguments. Old DH was a good example of that, as was NOED. On the surface it looked like both sides just didn't like their opponent using strong perks but there were actually some very valid points why both of them were horrible. On the other hand, you sometimes have people complain about the weirdest things and suggest nerfs / buffs that make no sense with no good argument backing up their suggestions.

Everything you said in that 4th paragraph is your personal opinion but no general truth. Neither you nor I or anyone else can dictate how players have fun. If your fun comes from playing Skull Merchant and holding the game hostage for 60 minutes (patched), then only the devs are allowed to consider this against the rules as long as it was not strictly forbidden prior to that. If your fun comes from winning, then that's fine. It's not against the rules (and it can't be), so there is no rule to tell you, you can't play that way.

  • It doesn't matter. Survivors aren't safe until they're out. Or at least they shouldn't be. And that survivor isn't out yet.

It's not the most pressing concern but it is something that should be patched out eventually.

I want to know from you what is the problem with adrenalin because that is something i don't understand it is a perk that can only be used once and you have to do all 5 gens and you get rewarded for doing your task like how killer perks get rewarded for doing their task

    Adrenaline has 2 flaws:

    1) It counters Freddy. We do not need a perk that counters Freddy of all killers!

    2) It kind of incentivises slugging. A slugged survivor will be healed to injured but a hooked survivor will be healed to healthy. That's not great.

I dont think so. Look at noed. It used to be the most complained perk, and now it is barely a topic anymore.

Most complained about? I'm not so sure. I think there is a certain exhaustion perk that takes the crown. 😉

NOED is still being complained about. Just not as much. I reckon this might have more to do with its pick rate and less with the nerf though.

  • I don't think so. This sounds more like Freddy malfunctioning again. There other examples of this as well. For some reason the dreamworld just gets pitch black in some spots.

  • @Hexling said:

No you cant literally if the killer throws the game there's nothing you can do about it no perk will stop it. Thats why no matter what band aid fixes bhvr tries to do with perks it hasnt worked.

So you meant the fact that a killer can throw the game to force a kill? Yeah, that can happen. It's unfortunate for sure but also not an easy thing to fix. You'd need to grant that survivor complete invulnerability, which comes with a bunch of different issues.

For a heal tech however, you don't throw the game. So even that aspect is not the same.

  • First off: You can do something against tunneling. There are perks that help you out against a tunneling killer and your team mates can also come and take hits. So that is not really the same. There is of course the option to loop as well. So you can technically counter tunneling with skill. Now try to do that against the heal tech.

Second, I'm pretty sure that tunneling actually does have a pretty big impact.

So; no, the heal tech and tunneling aren't alike.

  • Maybe. I am in no hurry to buy either Sable or Unknown but maybe I'll buy them with shards eventually.

  • Release Chucky. I wasn't too thrilled about him coming to DBD but I loved to experiment with 180s. This was for me the most fun component he had. I have only played him once since the nerf (god, it feels awful) and I don't think I'll play him again. Scamper into hit is boring in my opinion but that's currently his biggest strength.

  • I support this. Although, I'd like to see it disable flashlights and flashbangs for as long as it's active just to make sure they don't use it to linger around when a killer picks up a different survivor and remove all risk. Especially since we also have Background Player.

  • I'm not completely against this idea but if Collective Stealth were to activate on unhooks as well, then both survivors wouldn't leave scratch marks but the unhooked survivor would still leave trails of blood. So the killer could only follow one of them, which happens to be the one that was unhooked. So basically, the killer would tunnel because they couldn't go after the unhooker.

I'd like to see it hide scratch marks and pools of blood of the unhooked survivor while not working for the unhooker. If both were hidden, then you'd have cases where survivors would just unhook because they aren't in any danger anyway, which is also not great.

  • What do you hope to achiece with each of these nerfs, if I may ask? Because you'd nerf pretty much every aspect of her but don't address any of her issues. Like the fact that she's not fun to play against, which would still be the case. So this just seems like a pretty random nerf for the sake of nerfing SM, which does not sound very reasonable.

Except for 110 killers get punished more for not using their power and take longer to get hits more so than 115 killers. There is a reason why the vast majority of Huntress never m1. Spooky/Max/Seek

Have you played Huntress before? Don't tell me you've never found yourself in a position where you could have gotten an easy M1. It happens and insisting on using your power anyway will often result in you waisting time. That is the point.

Of course you shouldn't try to play Huntress as a M1 killer in general. But when the opportunity arises, you should go for it instead of missing a bunch of hatchets. Especially when you're still learning. Just because something is possible, doesn't mean you'll be able to pull it off.

When you're as good as the people, you've mentioned then you won't miss a bunch of hatchets. This however is not the average Huntress player.

Huntress, Hag, Spirit, and slinger pretty much have to only use their power or else they get trashed. Probably some others I’m forgetting too

That's not the point. There are situations in which a simple M1 killer mind game can give you an easy hit. But many will double down on using their powers anyway and failing, which results in a lot of time wasted.

We're not talking about Nurse but Hag for example can sometimes get a hit without using her power. As can Huntress, Slinger and Spirit. You shouldn't set down a trap when you run after a survivor in a dead zone and you also shouldn't insist on using your power when there is a chance to get an easy M1 instead. At least not when you want to win.

I'm not saying you should play M1 killer and only use your power sparsely but an easy hit is better than spamming your power 10 times and wasting 20 seconds.

  • That's a problem on pretty much every killer though, isn't it? People become overly reliant on their killer's power and use it so often that they waste time and have to make up for it by tunneling. Although, I feel like these are the same players that would tunnel anyway.

So I don't think this is a Hillbilly specific issue.

  • Please, no. WoO is bad enough as is. Let players actually learn the game instead of holding their hands every step of the way. Otherwise it becomes boring.

  • I'd be interested to see Ace's survival rate. There are exactly 3 types of Ace players. The comp Ace (mostly with the tuxedo), the toxic Ace head (will wear anything as long as it looks stupid) and the Gigachad Ace (pink shirt and whatever else). So his escape rate could be anything from 80% to 10%.

  • 4 slowdown perks aren't exactly fun to play against. So you're not the only one. It doesn't feel good when any progress you've made is just instantly removed or your only objective is blocked and you can do nothing other than sitting around and waiting.

Although I think, when it comes to strength, the current slowdown meta isn't all that bad. Also, you should be able to get at least 1-2 gen done despite Corrupt. This implies, that the killer played pretty well. Otherwise they couldn't have activated all their slowdown perks frequently enough to stop your progress. So that might be part of the reason you lost at 5 gens.

  • You have nothing to worry about. Even, if you were to end up getting reported, the devs won't ban you without undisputable evidence.

  • It's sad that they don't have some kind of "Hello Zepp" themed TR for her. Something like this could work so well:

  • Gimme! I can be trusted, I promise. I'm totally unbiased and I certainly never have a bad / hot take.

Really, it's kind of hard to say, if that is even such a good idea for a system. As @Blueberry explained there are some issues, if it is based on activity. I mean, try to make a hundred posts and never upset anyone. That's pretty hard. It's all too easy to be baited into something and say things that are less than friendly.

Well, unless of course you are a cold, unfeeling and calculating machine. @TheSingularity is not bound by emotion, so we can trust it to always act on personal gain. That's the purest form of honesty.

Thank you so much, my friend <3

I do not deserve such praise.

You do, friend. How you manage to keep such a positive attitude not only towards the game but towards the community as well is nothing short of a miracle. Keep it up!

  • It's a pretty decent perk for beginners. It just doesn't work very well on some killers and you have better alternatives but it is useful and it works in pretty much every game. Bonus points, if you're using it on Wraith because then you don't disturb any crows yourself while cloaked.

Eeeh, technically it's not really fair because the killer can't do anything against it and it should probably be removed. That said it's very rare that it actually matters so it's not a big deal currently.

    ^This.

  • I've been saying that for months. WoO really has done quite a bit of damage to the survivor brain. If it's not glowing yellow, then it doesn't exist. I've been experimenting with Third Seal for a bit and you really see the difference.
